Here are a few ideas, two cold, one hot.

  1. Frozen pie. You need:

  • One pre-made graham cracker crust (pie shaped),
  • One thing of regular cool whip
  • Two normal sized fruit flavored, things of normal yogurt (not greek, not diet). Raspberry, blueberry, or strawberry works well. Brand is not important.
  • (optional) Squeeze bottle of chocolate syrup

Thaw cool whip completely. In large bowl, fold (or stir gently) the cool whip and both containers of yogurt until there are no visible streaks. Spoon into graham cracker crust. Leave 1/4 inch crust at the edges.

Make it look pretty by creating a swirl with the back of a large spoon. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze overnight. The plastic wrap can touch the pie filling.

Pull from freezer 10 minutes before serving. Remove plastic wrap. With a large, sharp knife, slice at the table, and serve. Put the bottle of chocolate syrup on the table for people to drizzle over the pie.

  1. Watermelon Bombe. I found two good recipes, here and here

This is easy-peasy. You would need to make this the day before. Very little work, no baking, but it DOES take some time.

I think the important thing with this dessert is to

  • make sure you line your bowl with long enough strips of plastic wrap
  • I would actually spray the bowl with non-stick prior to the plastic wrap. You can dunk the finished product into warm (not hot) water for one to three second to help unmold. Don't let the top of the bowl get more than an inch to water. Don't let it sit in the warm water for any longer. Turn it upside down and whisk the bowl away--it's wet.
  • Follow the directions for letting each type of ice cream or sorbet thaw, and DO beat them with a hand mixer (or a wooden spoon and a lot of elbow grease if you have no mixer).
  • DO add the chocolate chips into the pink layer before add that layer to the Bombe.
  • The photos make it look perfect, but no one cares if yours does not. They will be super-impressed.
  • Save a little bit of the green or white ice cream to fill the final thing at the end (the current top, which will become the bottom). Use the side of a large knife or one of those offset spatulas to make it flat to the bowl. This will give your Bombe a smooth, flat surface when you unmold it.

  1. For a non-cold dessert, what about something as simple as delicious hot chocolate? This is something you mostly prepare ahead of time, even putting mugs, saucers, napkins, spoons, and sides on a tray. You can put the milk into a saucepan and put it on the stove, turning it on as you clean the table.

You can have things to make it better, like Bailey's or Irish whiskey, candy canes, marshmallows (large and small), and a tin of those cookies that everyone loves?

I've followed the hot chocolate recipe on the back of the Hershey's tin and it really is delicious, especially if you make it with whole milk.

An alternative recipe is here. This one is much better, and you can make it ahead of time and then add the appropriate quantity to a pan of heated milk. Again, whole milk makes a huge difference.

If you heat milk in a pan on the stove, do it over low to medium heat. This will take a while (maybe 20 to 30 minutes). Stir often. It will form a skin. Just lift the skin off with your spoon and throw it away. Pretend you never saw it.

When the milk begins to steam, use another spoon to taste it. You want it pretty scalding. Add the hot cocoa blobs and remove from heat, stirring frequently. You may need to put it back on the fire for a little while until everything is melted and steamy again. Transfer to a pitcher, and pour into the waiting mugs and sides.

I tried these from Amazon. 2 net carbs... tasted like a cookie. CONS - super small serving size (the cookies are about nickle sized in diameter) the price 14 bucks... for three tiny tiny bags. TINY like 12 cookies (the size of a nickle... ) but it didn't taste bad. Restaurants: FL has a lot of gluten free, and amazing seafood.

Grocery stores: If you can find it, Canyon Bakehouse breads are amazing. Also, anything NOT corn. I've found most countries abroad are mostly corn in their gluten free stuff. Here we have a lot more tapioca and rice. It provides a much lighter texture and flavor.

Edit: also, http://www.amazon.com/KinniToos-Chocolate-Sandwich-8-Ounce-Packages/dp/B000LKZ5XQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1408722117&sr=8-4&keywords=kinnikinnick

These! dip them in milk. If you know your address there, you could buy a couple things and have them waiting at the reception desk when you get there. (make sure the hotel is aware of it)

These are pretty good too

For you and anyone helping you out:

  • Dried fish and nuts: pretty self explanatory?

  • Dried squid sticks. It says cuttlefish but they taste pretty much the same (to me). There are a lot of brands though, in case he has a preference...

  • Authentic instant noodles: Not sure what would make them authentic, but I'm guessing a pack/bowl you can get at 7-11 would work?

  • Koala Bear Strawberry things: As mentioned, they're available in the US and are called Koala March. Should be the same as the ones in Taiwan, I remember eating them growing up.

  • Pearl milk tea: Not sure how you'd send milk tea across the ocean. But you can probably buy the pearls aka boba aka tapioca and make the tea yourself?

  • Rice crackers: I like these but if he said oval then it may be more like this. Should be this brand though, you can see the boy on the package.

Like other people have mentioned, you can buy most/all of these in the US, but I know that Tennessee doesn't exactly have a big Asian population so it may be harder there. And snack exchanges are fun! So don't let me get in the way of that. Just in case you ever needed to know for the future.

/u/spidersam639, hear me out. Japanese snacks (dagashi) and a Rick and Morty board game? There doesn’t seem to be a nerdier mix. Also, if you like The Adventure Zone you should check out Brian Posehn’s D&D podcast called Nerd Poker. It’s hilarious, and they tend to be awesome at D\&D; they also talk a lot about metal music, old-school comedians, and Lord of the Rings. They like to mention everyone they know who had like one line in the movies lol

u/NotMara · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'd say get her all the snacks, because, I mean, come on - that is a HUGE amount of snacks that anyone would be happy to get.

For yourself, I'd say you should definitely get this skull swimsuit. I'm a huge sucker for skulls, so that automatically caught my attention.

Thanks for the contest! Wish Arian a happy birthday for me!

This is a great add on if you're ordering other stuff. And a great flavor, too.

If not, this is another great flavor and prime eligible.

German cat ear candies are terrifying...

I THINK I've had these coffee candies before, and if these are them, they're really good.

It's Sunday and I'm going to be lazy! I've been up since 6:30am and have already got a boatload of stuff done so I plan to lay in bed and watch movies all day.

Yesterday, I posted about my daughter starting to crawl. Well today, I woke up to see her pulling herself up to a standing position in her crib! BABY STAHP! So we had to lower her mattress and now I'm almost too short to lay her down haha.

Also, my mom bought me some delicious Brownie Brittle, I'm in love.

Have a wonderful day today everybody! Enjoy the last day of the weekend <3

Happy Anniversary. Shipping from Amazon isn't worth it to Australia just for candy, but You could buy yourself some Australian cookies.

I'll tell you a short and sweet story about me. When I was a toddler, I said my first coherent sentence to my grandmother who was baby sitting me. I walked in, having dressed my self in a tutu, and did my best curtsy (No one had taught me, I'd copied my sister from watching her ballet lessons). Then, I said: "Aren't I pretty?"

u/EdenSB · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Since you seem to interested in Asian items, I'll list the famous Japanese snack; Pocky

http://www.amazon.com/Glico-Pocky-Strawberry-9-Pack/dp/B004HU7TC6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1382310254&sr=8-2&keywords=pocky

It comes in a variety of flavors. Milk is my favorite, but most people like sttawberry and chocolate. I want these myself, but I live in Korea, so it's not too hard to track it down locally (and a lot cheaper than Amazon delivery here).

If you decide to gift me, the only thing on my wishlist within your price range may be a giftcard due to delivery costs.

u/StumbleBees · 2 pointsr/Seattle

May not be uniquely Seattle, but Socios green grocer in Pike Place sell these incredible dehydrated strawberries that are freaking amazing. And they are right next to Chukar Cherries. And pick up some lanjegar at Bavarian meats and some salmon candy at Mikes Fish.

Also, they don't have Circus Animals anywhere outside of the PNW and those things are like crack. You can get them at Bartell.

*Oh. Get a bag of awesome coffee from Stumptown or Vivace or Trabant.

u/Starfola · 3 pointsr/keto

Yeah same, I used to eat mash potatoes everyday with steak and it tasted good but after being in keto for a few months I noticed how much carbs it is and every single time I look at something in the supermarket that seems "friendly" it still tend to have a lot of carbs. If you're craving some pasta I would recommend Tofu Shirataki Noodles by House Foods. However, I suggest adding stuff like tomato sauce that has low carb since the noodles will taste good if you season it well or bland if you don't season it. As for pizza I would making keto pizza. It doesn't cost much and you can track the calories of the entire pie by using myfitness recipe calculator. If you miss sugar you can use a Erythritol Sweetener.

Also, I seen people talk about MCT Oils and how some people get great results while others say the opposite. I personally recently started to include it in my routine and I been feeling more energy throughout the day and personally lost weight while using it since I been stuck at 193-195 and now I'm 189 (started on the 14 of this month). I was scared to use a low priced MCT Oil so I went for Brain Octane MCT Oil. I'd suggest getting the 3 OZ one to see how it goes for you since it's a waste to spend higher because if it doesn't work well at least you didn't spend that much.

Some snacks I enjoy:

Quest Nutrition Tortilla Style Protein Chips

HighKey Snacks Keto Mini Cookies

Lily's Dark Chocolate Chips

Depending on where you are, you actually can buy them in stores. Little Brownie Bakers is a subsidiary of keebler, who sell them in stores (example).

And although I can't verify it personally, if the following from CBS news is to be believed, Little Brownie Bakers don't even make the cookies themselves, it's Keebler:

>One box label reads "Made for The Little Brownie Bakers in Louisville, Kentucky." Not "made BY" Little Brownie Bakers but "made FOR" Little Brownie Bakers. They're actually made by the giant cookie company, Keebler. Keebler is owned by Kellogg's but their name isn't on the box, either. Nothing simple about this.

I felt kinda bad when I bought these instead, but they're even more delicious....

Pocky stays good for a long, long time, and it wouldn't surprise me if the GGs were still finding edible packs of the stuff on the road.

That said, Pocky strikes me more as a Miki or Kurumi thing. Yuki strikes me as a chocolate koala person.
