PART TWO -- wrote this before seeing your VIVE arrives... basically tomorrow

-=- recommended accessories -=-
get the Deluxe Audio Strap. this is a MUST HAVE.

https://www.amazon.com/HTC-Vive-Deluxe-Audio-Strap-pc/dp/B06Y2GDXMC/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=htc+vive+deluxe+audio+strap&qid=1555922928&s=videogames&sr=1-1

i don't consider this an accessory...this is just absolutely CRUCIAL. installation took me ~15-20 minutes after watching a youtube video on how to install as the instructions that ship with it are ...lacking. there's a video of a german guy who shows you have to install it easily.... this strap adds not only great sounding, adjustable and comfortable headphones but (more importantly) will secure the HMD in a way that makes the default strap seem laughable. this deluxe strap allows more comfortable wear of the HMD, better cord management and eliminates the need for supplying your own audio (be it earbuds or headphones) while i ordered all of these "accessories" and received them before my VIVE, i decided to try the original / shipped strap before installing the "deluxe" and words can't describe the difference in fit, comfort, and how great the audio from the adjustable integrated earphones sound. the headphones are able to "snap" in an upright position when you are either removing /storing the HMD or just need to lift one up to hear something someone is trying to tell you...

-=-2nd suggestion for "accessories"-=-

probably most important second only to the deluxe audio strap.... get these tripods. you don't want to mount your lighthouses to your wall... with these tripods you are able to place your lighthouses without drilling/mounting. it is way worth the investment as the stands are very secure, adjustable and the lighthouses screw directly into them. no other parts needed, just these two stands... you'll realize that you might have to fine-tune/tweak the placement of the lighthouses slightly, and with these stands you are able to make adjustments (not only in placement but with the ball/swivel you are able to change the angle/pitch etc.) which you couldn't do if you mounted them.

-=-honorable mention -- not necessary but recommended...-=-

when i purchased my vive i made sure to get a nice stand to set the HMD/controllers on... (...i went a bit overboard with other accessories and for brevity i'll only mention two more accessories that i think you should pick up) here's the HMD/controller stand i purchased for when either storing the vive or to set it on while taking breaks/cooling off... . it isn't an absolute necessity but it gives it a nice place to rest the HMD/controllers during breaks between play (you will sweat a lot even in a cold room, i know i'm out of shape but with titles like sairento, sprint vector, space pirate etcetc i take breaks just to let my face breathe and cool off.) this beats just setting the HMD on the ground or on a nearby table which could easily fall off.... your call, but -- again, protect your investment!

-- these are simply pullies that attach to your ceiling, allowing the cable to be out of the way of the ground... personal preference here but i find these very useful (especially with titles where i'm moving around a lot... sairento, gorn, QuiVR etc) ... protip: i went to walmart etc, purchased -several- packs of 3M "Command" large picture and frame hanging strips 16lb "large picture hanging strips" and have them all over my ceiling at different strategic places (depending on if i'm playing a title that requires my entire room i.e having to move my bed for the max. play area, or if i'm playing a title that requires only the smallest room setup or even for sitting) so using the 3M strips instead of the adhesive that comes with the pullies in the kit, i'm able to switch around the location of the pullies to suit each above situation...also, they remove without damaging your ceiling... if you have any questions on this just message me and i'd be happy to elaborate.

last accessory suggestion -- after watching videos of people punching holes in their walls etc. i decided to grab these protective frames which have saved my walls and possible harm to my controllers when demoing my vive to friends (even though when demoing i always have chaperone on "beginner", floor bounds on etc) it -never- fails that they will try to throw a grenade and hit my ceiling, swing a punch while playing Gorn and instead of my vive controller slamming into the wall, the cage around the circular top part absorbs the impact and deflects/redistributes the force from one point of contact to several. just throwing this out there, just in case you or someone you are showing it to will be inadvertently throwing your controller into your wall

final thoughts/closing: hmm. well, i think i said a LOT here and hope that your experience with installation is pleasant. again, let us all know how your first experience went and feel free to ask any questions.

I love this case. It blends in perfectly with the Matte Iph7+. Just thick enough so your phone feels more protected (I've dropped mine several times with this one - no damage to the phone) but thin enough to keep the phone small. Speakers are fully surrounded and edges are just tall enough so the phone can lay facing down and up without the camera/screen touching the surface. The apple logo is exposed; I can see why you might have an issue with that but I never got a scratch on it (and it looks really nice).

For a screen protector, any glass cover will be perfect. The plastic ones pick up too much grease and have that annoying rainbow effect when you angle the phone. I use this one from Tech Armor. So far it's been a year and there's no scratches on it yet. Looks like brand new and it's low enough so it blends in very well with the case I mentioned above (as well as the apple cases. The edges on the screen protector are curved so you won't feel the edge). I should also mention it's a lot easier to install glass cases because it won't bend everywhere and there's no bubbles after installing (there might be some very small dots but those go away completely after 2-3 days.)

I would go with the Matte Black. I think it's a lot cleaner than the Jet black. The j/b is too easy to scratch and fingerprints will be very noticeable. I wouldn't trade mine for a second.

Get yourself a good adblocker for Safari. Adguard and 1Blocker work perfect. SoundHound for songs you hear out in public and don't know the name/artist. Other than that you just need to go exploring for apps you like.

This got wayyy longer than I expected lol. Regardless of what phone you get, you won't regret it one bit :) enjoy the new iPhone!

Edit: Spigen makes great cases all around. Tech21 if your want more protection with the cost of adding more bulk to the phone. A little pricey but they are seriously good cases.

Thanks for a very kind user from this subreddit, I've been liberated from my old cracked cellphone :). I received my phone no later than a week (business days) after it was processed; placed the order on the 18th, received it earlier today (27th).

I ordered the Tudia Slim-Fit Dual Layer case along with a Nillkin 9H tempered glass for my OPO, and both of them feel great; couldn't be happier with my purchase. Some people have said the Tudia case is a bit tough to take off the phone, but that isn't the case for me. The Nillkin screen protector feels very nice. I've never had a tempered glass screen protector; so I can't really compare it to anything other than that it feels 1000x better than a film screen protector. I'll admit, I wanted to put a film protector over my Nillkin for more protection, but I'm pretty confident that my screen will stay safe regardless with these two products.

The phone itself is a beauty. I underestimated how good it would feel until I actually picked it up. The sandstone texture on the back of the phone feels amazing, I thought it would feel a bit too rough, but it feels really nice. I am sad that I don't trust myself with this phone without a case though. Size doesn't feel too big (although I do have fairly large slender hands) and the power and volume buttons feel tactile (some have said it's too recessed, not in my case). Coming from a phone where the power button was located at the top of the phone, the side power button feels much more ergonomic and easier to access of course. I do wish that the screen resolution was quad HD (like the LG G3), but I really can't complain about anything at this price point.

I made a thread asking users about what they didn't like about the OPO, and my biggest concerns were the yellow tint at the bottom of the screen (that was only an early production defect AFAIK), camera responsiveness, random resets (with the new update), and battery issues. So far, the only thing that I have encountered is a bit of the camera lag (hopefully they will fix this with a patch), and what seems to me like poor reception :S. With my old phone, I was able to get 70-80% bars with LTE signal, but on the OPO, I'm getting around 60% bars with E/H+/3G signal, not LTE. My carrier operates LTE on bands 700/1700/2600, all of which OPO is listed to support :. I haven't tested this outside of my neighborhood; so I'll find out if I can get LTE anywhere tomorrow.

Overall; I love this phone. NO RAGRETS.

I got this case http://www.amazon.com/Spigen%C2%AE-Resilient-Ultimate-protection-impacts/dp/B01A7ICWTQ?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 and it works awesome and I cannot complain about it one bit. It doesn't add tons of bulk, but it has decent grip and can easily slide into a shirt or jeans pocket without issues.

I did try a couple of tempered glass screen protectors but I returned them immediately. I really like Sparin glass protectors on my other tablets/phones but it is absolute garbage on my S7. I'm not sure if there are many out there yet, but there should be some coming up by the end of this month that will fit to the curved edges on the regular S7. My problem was that the glass would overlap the curve and there was 1/4 inch on each side that were not in contact with the screen. That meant whenever I had to pull something from the side it just wouldn't work.

I currently am using the IQ Shield http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Protector-Coverage-Shield%C2%AE-LiQuidSkin/dp/B019S70NJI?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 LiQuidSkin screen protector and it works great. I would highly recommend getting the "Case Friendly" version as the regular version will pop up on the corners when you put it in a case. Feel wise, it's smooth. With the screen off you can see a bit of an "orange peel" look, but it's not noticeable with the screen on. It is a wet application and I put it on after steaming up my bathroom using the shower to reduce dust in the air and it applied super easy and perfect.

I'll eventually get a good tempered glass screen protector, but this does the job of preventing scratches for now.

u/wdinaun · 2 pointsr/SamsungNote10

I've been extremely happy with the Whitestone Dome. I did 2 of them (first my Note 10+, then my wife's). They sell it in a 2-pack which brought the price down to about $30 per. Still 3x as much as for any other tempered glass protector I've purchased but it's definitely a much better product in that the liquid adhesive really does a great job on the curved screen.

It's definitely the kind of thing that would be perfect for a service business (mall kiosk, etc) to install since there's a lot to absorb and learn and my second one took 1/2 the time as the first. But if you're careful and plan it out well it's not especially hard. I'd say be especially patient for the glue to spread (I waited 3 minutes, not 1:20 or whatever they recommended) and be patient with the UV light (I probably cured it for 10 minutes rather than 5).

I also did it last thing in my day so I was able to leave it out on the counter for several hours while I slept. That's not to say that one might not also be perfectly successful at it with the times given but these all seemed like areas of the process where more time couldn't hurt and since I hope to keep the phone and the protector for years, investing a few more minutes was no big deal.

The end result you really can't even tell it's on there except for the cutout at the top. Oh, and another key thing I think is a case that doesn't interfere. We both use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SSW6DB2 and the case doesn't touch the protector anywhere which I think helps a lot with the protector staying attached.

See update here which includes a Ringke case review:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/6a6syd/update_four_thin_cases_reviewed_1/

Original post:

Top to bottom:

  • elago (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHFYJM7/)
  • Bear Motion (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XRVK3WS/)
  • Maxboost mSnap (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS8R8TK/)
  • Spigen Thin Fit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XP54BCW/)

I've been trying out these four thin cases. In the image you can see my S8 face down in each case, with a Verizon tempered glass screen protector on. You can see the edge of it, a white line which curves downward at each end.

I'm thinking of removing the screen protector, so I took these photos to see which case would provide the most protection when the S8 is face down without a screen protector. The Spigen has a raised lip at the top and bottom of the case that just barely keeps the screen protector off the surface below. The Maxboost lips are about even with the screen protector. The Bear Motion lips barely rise above the S8 screen, and there are no lips on the elago.

The Spigen is the most robust case and is the biggest weighing 18 grams, has a raised lip around the camera for extra protection (you can see it in the bottom picture), has space for a metal plate for a magnetic car mount (if you like that sort of thing), and is made of a grippy matte material. Definitely this feels like the case with the most protection. Very nice.

The Maxboost is slightly smaller than the Spigen and weighs 17 grams. It's matte material is a bit less grippy and the buttons aren't as easy to press because the openings aren't cut away like the Spigen. There is no raised lip for the camera. I like it though because it is slightly smaller than the Spigen.

The Bear Motion is made of a sandy feeling matte material that provides great grip. It is about the same size as the Maxboost but only weighs 13 grams and has cut-away button openings and a very small raised lip for the camera. I like it too!

The elago is extremely thin, weighing only 5 grams. It is barely bigger than the phone itself. It is so thin that mine got a small rip near the power button on the right when I was taking it on and off, and the left side is slightly loose, not as snug as the right. Buttons are easy to press as they actually protrude beyond the sides of the case! It is matte, grippy but not quite as grippy as the others. It also has a small raised lip for the camera. It feels great in the hand but doesn't give confidence as it has no protection to speak of except for scratches and fingerprints.

Although size-wise the Spigen is my least favorite, I may end up using it because it inspires the most confidence, seems like it might do better in a drop situation, while protecting the screen better when the phone is face down due to having the largest top and bottom lips, and also the biggest lip around the camera.

I've got a tech 21 case, and a spigen clear case but I absolutely love this one above. Feels great, it's super thin, lays flat on a table and has the slightest lip over the screen. Perfect for someone who doesn't want a big bulcky case but feels like they're going to drop or break they're phone without one.

u/DaveFalcon73 · 1 pointr/iphone

It feels a bit thicker/bulkier but once you've got used to it it's not too bad. I've had one on the 6 Plus and 6S Plus but on the 7 Plus they weren't released so I got a Spigen Rugged Armor, it's very similar the only difference is it doesn't have the metal backplate that goes over the silicon case but it feels much thinner.

The silicon case both on Tough Armor and the Rugged Armor has grooves in it, it's supposed to push air through if the phone drops onto a hard surface to help dampen the phone and absorb impact. I don't know how much truth there is in that or if it's a marketing gimmick but I know I've dropped my 6 Plus hundreds of times and it's never broken anything in the phone. In the past on my 4/4S/5/5S I've had different cases and dropped then probably 6-10 times and then something breaks like the mic, the speaker or home button. So I think the Spigen Tough Armor cases are probably worth the money. That said I'm really happy with the Rugged Armor and may just stick with that as it feels much thinner and nice in the hand.

u/thereal-jackbauer · 1 pointr/iPhoneX

It’s kind of expensive but I just got this one last week and absolutely love it. Super smooth in hand and extremely strong. Probably won’t protect much if you drop the phone but works for scratches and camera bump protection.

Alright, everyone keeps telling you to be careful, which I guess you already know, i'm going to give you the benefit of a doubt and say that maybe you cracked it once by accident, it happens, and the second time was because your phone screen was already weak from being replaced... I'll say it's no fault except bad luck. Shit happens.

My recommendation is just bite the bullet on spending a little more than you want to for phone protection, it will save so you much money in the long run. Screens are $200 - $300 dollars to replace, when you can just spend $75 now and protect it. So here's what i think will help.

  • Get a case
  • The one that is most reccomended after me spending DAYS going through threads and looking for solid cases is the Spigen Neo Hybrid ($13.99). Slim case with actual protection.

  • Get a screen protector
  • Also through my research is that the TG (Tempered Glass) protectors are all awful except for the Whitestone Dome ($44.99). Is a hard pill to swallow but it's the only glass that fits well, no reduction in sensitivity, and has full screen adhesive to keep from having those ugly rings around the edge of your screen or having those black bars. I reccommend this because you seem to crack your phone, rather than scratch it, this may save your screen a ton.

  • If you reeeallyy don't want to swallow the $50 then most people just go with a wet applied film to just help from scratches and possibly a minor crack. Most people settle for the IQ Shield LIQuid Skin ($7.85). It's just a skin but it may save you in the end.

  • Get a stand
  • It will keep your phone more secure on your desk rather than having to deal with knocking it off when reaching for your glasses. Any cheap stand can work. I went with the Econstyle Stand ($7.99) because it's easy to move from my side table by my bed, to my desk by my compute. Just some extra security and ca keep your phone from getting any scratches from laying it face first on a hard surface.

  • If you want to get a little luxury you could always get Samsungs Fast Charging Wireless Charger ($39.99) which has a stand included so you just set your phone down and it's charging, but that's just extra luxuries and isn't necessary.

So you could spend a bit for some extra security that will save you time in the long run, or you can keep risking dropping your phone and breaking it. I bit the bullet and got the case, TG and stand and I haven't looked back. I actually dropped my phone first few days after having it, but thanks to my TG the damage was only there and it saved my screen completely.

So its going to be a big change for you coming from a compact phone to a phablet. If you have large hands, using it with one hand is possible for most cases. If you don't have large hands, you'll most likely be using the phone with two hands and you'll get used to it in a good way! You can still use one hand on some ways but I use it with two. If you really like the phone, you will accept the size and appreciate it over time, I know I have!

Since the phone is big as it is, I didn't want to get a otterbox case because that would make the phone even bigger. Instead I got this Spigen clear case which is pretty good in my opinion, no problems at all. I mainly got it because I want the phone to be noticeable and lightweight.

u/teriyakininja7 · 1 pointr/iphone

This one is great. I’ve replaced it with an Apple leather case because I got a deal on it (cousin works for an Apple Store) but this one is great. Showcases the phoneme design with pretty good protection. Won’t break the bank either.

Spigen Ultra Hybrid iPhone X Case with Air Cushion Technology and Hybrid Drop Protection for Apple iPhone X (2017) - Crystal Clear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074CMMCZM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_a0ohAb7JHP0KF

Case. Hands-down. Any gripes you have with using a case will easily be squelched when you decide "just for one day" to go without a case on your phone, it slips out of your hands, and suddenly you have a smashed screen.

I've learned my lesson already. Best to get a good case and learn to love it.

Edit: And you don't have to go with a cheap-looking case. I got this: iPhone 7 Plus Case, Spigen [Rugged Armor] Resilient [Black] Ultimate protection from drops and impacts for iPhone 7 Plus (2016) - (043CS20485) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GIWGAAC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Uf85xb4AJMBPS. The protection is very good, the button pressure is just right, and the back has strips of a woven carbon pattern on the top and bottom. It looks really nice.

u/Bodgerbaz · 1 pointr/iphone

I can throughly recommend this case it not only protects the phone’s edges but gives a lot of confidence it handling it too. It feels very comfortable and looks great.

u/ThirtyThirtyWin · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I have Caseology's other 2XL case, the Vault. Really happy with it. I was hoping Spigen would do a Slim Armor case for the 2XL, but they only have the bulkier Tough Armor. I had the Slim Armor series for my LG G3, and loved it. Caseology's vault has been perfect so far.

I ordered the google cloth case with my phone, but wasn't a fan. Also tried this thin "snap" case. I'll say this: it holds the phone very well. It was a pain in the ass to get the case off. Didn't like it because I didn't think it would protect the phone much, and there was no front lip to allow me to set the phone face down.

Still looking for a good tempered glass screen protector. How are you liking yours?

Not a direct answer to your question, but I found Pitaka’s case and magnetic Qi charging vent clip to be the best combination. The steel plate that is molded into the case is circular which allows you to keep all wireless charging capabilities.

Magnetic Qi Mount

Mag Case

They also make a tougher case if you don’t like the slimline.

Hope this helps! I love my Pitaka stuff.

I just upgraded from an S3 in around November (black friday) last year.

This phone is a dream compared to an S3. You're gonna wonder how you lived without the finger sensor. You're gonna love being able to quickly open the camera app and snapping beautiful pictures. You're gonna love being able to type into Google now without tearing your hair out, because the keyboard is in a weird frozen state. You're gonna LOVE the battery life, seriously love it.

You won't regret your purchase. The only thing that worried me was the whole Honor 8 not getting updates but so far it looks to be okay. But again, as someone who just recently upgraded from an S3.. You'll never look back, at all.

The only real con to me is that the phone needs the peripheral charger in order for fast charge to work. But it's yet to be any real hindrance, especially because the battery lasts so long, and you can get a quick charge in no time (something we never had amyway).

Edit: Also, go ahead and order this charger cable and this case. The cable that comes with the phone is TINY..I like my phone to be somewhat mobile when I'm charging. And the case is just absolutely needed (sure use the phone without a case to enjoy how sexy it is, I know I did, but eventually you have to come back to reality).

u/newsjunkee · 3 pointsr/GalaxyS7

I am a huge Spigen fan, but I got the one you listed and I don't like it. It really looks rubbery and makes the phone look cheap. I truly love this Spigen case though. I bought a bunch of cases and now use it exclusively (I got the gold because my phone is gold)
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B1I6J0E/ref=twister_B01B297RG2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

u/JustOnOrdinaryGuy · 1 pointr/Honor8

Sorry, no such case is available. Your son wants one of those Life Proof cases, but none are available for the honor 8.

Edit: this is the best case I have found for the honor 8: https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Rugged-Resilient-Absorption-Huawei/dp/B01LXTROW1

I bought https://www.amazon.com/MDW-Updated-Version-Protective-Controllers/dp/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1497313793&sr=8-2&keywords=htc+vive+controller+protector

I haven't used them yet, just assembled before work... The side sensors are outside of the cage... but if you bump something lightly it puts my mind at ease compared to just the controller taking the bump.

The plastic is a little flexible since it isn't as hard as the controller plastic... but I don't think it would save anything if you punched it through a wall since I don't think the plastic is really that strong enough.

If I remember to update this after I use them and bump something I'll let you know.

I usually run a screen protector and a slickwraps skin, but coming from a smaller device(iPhone 8) and wanting to show off that sweet, sweet banana color, I’ve been switching between two.

I’ve been using the Spigen ultra hybrid - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GHMQDCJ/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_l2U3BbSP5VKVK

As well as a go link banana leaf case - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H9R57Q8/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_m5U3Bb8XE7E47

Spigen is the jam for showing off the color and doesn’t add much bulk. Neither case interfere with the screen protector.

I have the Spigen clear case for my X. I had the same one on my 6S Plus. Extremely durable but I will say that clear cases start to discolor over time so be prepared for that. With that said I love my Spigen clear case. The back is plastic but the bumper sides are rubber. This is it and if you scroll down to the reviews, there are a lot of pictures of it on people's phones.

My case comes up on top on the edge/infinity display by less than a millimeter and gives the phone an edge up above the screen just in case of a face down fall. when I place my phone on my desk face down. There's a minuscule amount of clearance between the screen and desk which is nice knowing that if I place it face down, I'm not rubbing the screen. This case is super slim though so no screen space or edge space is really impeded on. I got it off of amazon for cheap. It was $7.99 when I bought it and I would highly recommend it. You can actually see in the picture on amazon where they have the phone laying face up that the top and bottom of the case just barely go over the top of the screen.

u/Ramrawd · 1 pointr/nexus6

Just bought the Spigen Slim Armor

I've had one on my N5 forever now and it's really impressed me. Not too thick but still does a great job of protecting the phone. The kickstand on the N6 case is an added bonus too!

u/tearsana · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I really like the mSnap case. Very slim and very sturdy, offers good protection against drops. The finish is very nice too (satin/felt like).

edit: lip over screen is just right, full coverage tempered glass friendly also a slight raise over the camera to protect the lens glass.

u/shadow0861 · 1 pointr/LGG3

This is the case. Fits perfect and great protection. Plus it is not made of the soft silicone that makes you turn your pocket inside out when you grab your phone.

I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XDLMYMQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They make the controllers very heavy. After taking both the protective shell and skin off the controllers it felt like the controllers had no weight to them at all. I took them off because I was having tracking issues and because I'm not doing anything but development right now. Most likely the tracking issues are my own fault - my setup isn't the best and I haven't taken the time to improve it.

I am 6'5" or so. I hit my ceiling when playing games, so the shell is great for protecting my controllers. I'd recommend them for problem games but not for full time use.

Edit: Not on topic but this is the best accessory I've bought. Two switches to turn the lighthouses off. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CWNMB86/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That is also the one I'm rocking. I love it. It's stood up to dropping several times, and the kickstand comes in handy (although it's not quite up to par with the ahem Thunderbolt's that I used to have). The cutout for the M also helps make it easier to hold onto, and the blue one matches the N6 blue quite well unlike a lot of cases.

Thats the case I bought when I first got my Pixel. I was tailgating and dropped my phone on the concrete and it slide face down about 10 feet away, i was worried to pick it up but the case did its job and didnt touch the screen or mark up my phone at all. It is pretty thin (not like the peel or mnml) I also have the spigen clear crystal and I keep coming back to the one i sent in the link. I also have the dbrand bumper which should be showing up today so I can report back on that as well.

u/JonnyLH · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

Looks like a very flimsy and thin case. Would it protect the phone if it was dropped in a potentially screen shattering fall?

I purchased this clear case from Amazon:

Fits like a glove, solid plastic, quite thick but not too thick, and has already protected it. Definitely recommend. Unfortunately, I don't have a camera to take a picture of my camera.

I just bought this one. I just got my phone yesterday and haven't run yet, but I plan on going running tomorrow with it. I've used it with my Nexus 4 and it seemed pretty good. I'll update afterwards.

-Edit- Ran with it today. Fits with my case, although it's snug. Also, I have wireless headphones, so it's fine for me. However, if you use wired headphones I'm not sure how it would work. It encloses with a zipper, so it's definitely secure, however there's nowhere for you to plug them in.

u/ButchTheKitty · 2 pointsr/LGG3

It does, I have THIS ONE. I wanted something tough that would go in and out of pockets rather easily. I had an LG G3 with the Unicorn Beetle case. It was a great case. Felt good and lasted almost 2 years of drops. I haven't seen one made for the V20 yet so I decided to buy the Poetic phone case first and was disappointed with the feel of it. It covered the curves and felt cheap. Ordered the Ringke case and haven't thought twice about it. Phone feels nice in my hand still. The case looks good. And after my phone was dropped from the back of a moving forklift onto asphalt with no damage to phone or case, I can say I would recommend the case.

It grips on really tight so there's no chance the thing can plop out. there are raised lips at the top and bottom so as long as the thing falls on a flat surface the glass doesn't impact at all.

It works fine for me.

It definitely isn't a tank, but I'm pretty confident that as long as the glass itself doesn't make impact nothing will get damaged. the thing has a solid metal frame which is designed to absorb shock.

I personally trust it. I had the same exact case in my S7 and catapulted that thing across the room a few times by accident.

u/Nigo__ET · 1 pointr/iphone

Most slim cases like Peel’s will tend to get like that. I’ve tried both the Spigen and Elago thin cases and through time they tend to get loose and let dirt in between. I would highly recommend not going with these types of cases.

You might want to just look into this snap on cases like the following :

For me personally these type of slim snap on cases are better as they tend to not run against the phone causing those little scratches

u/ibiku2 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

MaxBoost mSnap is my favorite. I had one for the OG Pixel and after trying the fabric case and the Power Support AirJacket for the Pixel 2 XL, this is the thinnest, least intrusive case that still has a lip on the front and extends past the camera on the back. The fingerprint reader is way easier to slide into versus the fabric case too.

For my old OPO, I tried on a bunch of cases, including Tudia, Cruzerlite, Diztronic, Diztronic Ultra, and Ringke FUSION. I ended up sticking with Diztronic Ultra, but the problem with all those cases was that they all covered up the sexy Sandstone finish.

So I got the Sandstone case this time for my OP3, and also the Black Apricot to change it up once in a while.

As for screen protectors, right now I have the official OP3 tempered glass screen protector. The quality is really nice and it feels good to the touch, but it really bothers me that it doesn't cover the whole screen, leaving a significant gap on the edges.

The whole point of tempered glass screen protectors is to absorb shock if the phone is dropped, so that the protector cracks leaving the phone screen/digitizer intact, so if this phone gets dropped on its corners or edges, this tempered glass screen protector wouldn't do much to help.

Another issue is that the official screen protector is narrower than the width of the screen, the gap it leaves is bigger than the side bezels, so it makes the display look weird.

I ordered the PLESON full screen tempered glass today, but somebody was telling me in another thread that it sucks, so IDK, we'll see how it goes.

This seems to be the most protective whilst not looking insane i have found yet, i especially like how much the case borders go above the screen so it literally CANT get damaged when dropped on a flat surface. Feels solid in the hand and very rugged. doesn't add too much bulk

u/MixxiM · 1 pointr/samsung

I ordered this case from spigen, absolutely love their cases. Do you think the screen protectors you linked will be fine with the case? Cant decide between a tempered glass protector and this one from spigen.

u/Brennie96 · 1 pointr/Honor8

There was still adhesive on the edges of the back cover when I took it of, so I just used that and squeezed it against the phone to secure it. I do use a phone case (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LXTROW1/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) so I haven't had any issues with it coming off/moving around even when I take it off for cleaning. Just make sure it's lined up correctly and it'll look like you never even opened it up.

I also use my phone in the sauna at the gym and haven't had any issues with it sliding off or moving around from the heat.

I bought this Maxboost case for my S8 and I love it. Adds very little in the way of bulk to the phone and, while it's not super grippy, it makes it easier to hold than the naked glass.

Having learnt a very expensive lesson of having to have a cracked screen replaced after dropping my S8+ four days after getting it, it is now sporting a Spigen Neo Hybrid Case:

I have S8+ with this Spigen case and got the new Samsung fast wireless charger (the one that can be folded). It cannot charge with the case on. My mom with official Samsung S view flip case works perfectly fine.

I think going from 76% to full last night, fast charge said 49 min and I THINK the wired fast charge said 32min.

u/RosieNoShoes · 5 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

I used this one and the pic was pretty decent.

The photos aren't of nails, but are a good example of with/without the macro lens. First and third picture are without, second and fourth are with.

u/mrouija213 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I went with the MIME Ghost Glass tempered screen protector and a TUDIA Ultra Slim LITE TPU. The Ringke Fusion had too much gap above/below the screen protector which showed the metallic trim around the display. All three TUDIA cases fit roughly the same, but I prefer the plain black one. It was pretty much a perfect fit for what I wanted.

The other two cases: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NJBVH6S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I find the Nexus 6 super slippery on its own. I've always had one of these on my phone and it makes it super grippy without adding much bulk at all.

It looks like it's unavailable, but it was unavailable before and came back when I broke my previous one. Hopefully it comes back.

u/aclee_ · 2 pointsr/nexus6

I have this one and I absolutely love it. Doesn't add much bulk and it looks sharp.

u/TheCamboRambo · 1 pointr/Nexus5

I use the Spigeon Ultra Thin. Like the name suggests, it's thin so it doesn't add to the bulk of the phone and it keeps the phone protected. I've dropped my phone onto concrete a few times from normal standing heights and haven't had an issue. Plus it's cheap.

u/chriskmee · 14 pointsr/GalaxyS8

I've used this exact case for my past 3 phones (Note 7, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 XL) and I can't recommend it enough!! Very slim but it offers enough protection to save it from waist-level drops no problem.

Have probably dropped it 5-6 times since buying it and the case gets scratched up but the phone is flawless.

I had a Ringke slim in white like you. I have a midnight blue 6 though. (just wanted to see what all the white fuss was about...) After two months of use it's become scratched and smudged and all that sticks out like a sore thumb on the white. It's not pretty...

In addition (and perhaps more importantly) it makes the phone slipperier than it already is!

I just got a Spigen Slim Armor in Metal Slate, which not only matches the nexus 6's colors to the T, it also is a bit grippier, thicker, and has a stand. First impressions say that I'm going to like it a lot more!

http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Case-Spigen-Armor-Google/dp/B00OH4I2IC/

It feels much more droppable than the Slim, but I'd get an even thicker one if I was dropping mine "frequently".

u/jorbleshi_kadeshi · 2 pointsr/HitBoxPorn

Show this to your friend

They work really, really well IMO. The silicone skin protects against scuffs and things of that nature, and the outer cage part can pop on/off in seconds depending on your protection vs weight needs.

Not a shill, just a satisfied customer. BTW they have DIY 3dprint alternatives on Thingiverse

And an Orzly tempered glass screen protector on it. It feels like an indestructible phone now.

u/dunstbin · 1 pointr/nexus6

Yes, I tried them with the Spigen Slim Armor, which is ironically not that slim. It works on the DT-900/DT-910, though it's a bit more finicky than without it - you have to line it up perfectly and make sure the back is flush with the charger.

I imagine a slimmer case would have no issues, but anything thicker is likely to not work well, if at all.

Let me know what you think of that, I ordered this slim one and my only concern is security. I'm really gentle with phones, but given the footprint...

u/Peach-Os · 5 pointsr/Honor8

I have the Spigen Rugged Armor I had tried some other cases but this one has the best feel to it. No holes for buttons, but I've never had problems with pressing them or accidentally pressing them.

u/Loliconpajero · 2 pointsr/Nexus5

I bought this one for the couple N5s I ordered from woot.com a few months ago:

https://www.amazon.com/Spigen%C2%AE-Protector-TEXTURE-Premium-Japanese/dp/B00EV8Y50S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478194414&sr=8-1&keywords=spigen+nexus+5

The N5s were supposedly 32GB and new for $150, were actually 16GB and refurbished, all of us who ordered got a $70 discount so, eh. Still a little better than my previous n4.

The only issue there seems to be with the case is a little scuffing around the edges after a few months of snapping on and off. Not that noticeable imo.

u/TURB0_TIME · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I bought this case and it works as somewhat of a minimal case. It has protection on all corners and a small lip on the front to protect the screen.

Why would they do that? It's like saying that Nvidia should give discount to those who bought the earlier version of their graphics card.

No, I don't think it does, and I actually like it that way. I use a glass screen protector, and this way I can see the Edge Notifications.

I do wish Pitaka would start making their MagCase soft-touch carbon-fiber aramid case for the Samsung phones. They are just amazingly thin and tough, and they have built-in strips for magnet mounts that don't interfere with the wireless charging.
