EDIT: Reptiles by mack has questionable feedback, ignore my recommendation for them!

We had a similar kind of problem with our very first gecko, but not as extreme. We'd only had him for a week and since day 1 he'd been acting like he had parasites (regurgitating constantly, not pooping at all, no drinking, etc), so we thought about it for a long time and eventually decided to return him (back to petco). It didn't feel good to send him back, but you'll feel a lot better once you have a healthy and happy gecko. The difference between our first gecko and our current little guy (who's from a breeder) is astounding, behavior-wise and overall wellness.

If you're worried about potential diseases or parasites being transmitted to the new gecko then definitely disinfect/sanitize the cage and its furniture with a reptile safe cleaner. I picked up some stuff called Nolvasan from our local herp shop and apparently it's on Amazon too! http://www.amazon.com/Fort-Dodge-104032-Nolvasan-Disinfectant/dp/B00061MT1Q I'd recommend it. It seems to have a good background and is safe for the animals of course. We disinfected our entire cage after having our first possibly infected gecko and it was easy. I was told that it's fine for killing parasites that may have been around but there are mixed reviews online. It certainly kills any bacteria, fungi, and viruses, so I think you'd be fine. Bleach is a bit much but that'll definitely kill ANYTHING in there.

Personally, if a breeder mislabeled their geckos age AND sent me a sickly one then I wouldn't offer them my business again. I'd return the gecko and search for a different breeder. Of course it could've been a fluke but I still would search elsewhere.
I recommend Reptiles by Mack http://www.reptilesbymack.com/leopard-geckos.aspx and Snakesatsunset http://www.snakesatsunset.com/leopard-geckos-for-sale/ . We got ours from Reptiles by Mack and he arrived very healthy, albeit a bit skittish (but babies are generally like that anyway), and he ate the same night. They've got a HUGE variety of morphs, which was nice! Snakesatsunset has great reviews and I really like that they're not a huge operation. You'd get a quality gecko from them, I believe.

Anyway, I think it's a good idea to send Haku back :( In my opinion, you should just get a refund and get your new gecko from a different breeder. It'd be nice to disinfect the cage too in case Haku had anything. I look forward to seeing updates!

Keep at it, it's so incredibly frustrating when you're already stretched with the baby! We assumed the dog was freaked out by our kid so went full-calm down mode. We crated at night because the messing happened then (also during the day) but we also used the crate as his sanctuary so he was able to get away from the baby. Maybe if crating isn't working try a thunder vest or similar? These were the herbs we used: Hilton Canine Tranquility Dry Herbal Mix 125 g https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003MGIN08/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_DHSRzbFH57Z3W more expensive than some but this mix seemed to work best.

We also got the Adaptil pheromone collar (m/l size) plus the plug-in (again, Amazon!)

Definately get a belly band!!

Enzyme cleaner (buy bulk!!): Simple Solution Stain and Odour Remover for Dogs, 4 Litre https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004HYU79O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_XPSRzbZAYTFEJ

One other thing we did was had him walked by a professional dog walker twice a week with other dogs - the socialisation really seemed to help!!

Best of luck! Our hound and my son are now best of friends, it was really tough but worth it in the end!

Is he neutered? If not, get him neutered as soon as possible. Peeing/spraying is a very strong instinctual things, particularly for male cats.

Sometimes cats can associate the discomfort of urinating when suffering from a urinary tract issue with the litter box. Based on what you've said, it doesn't necessarily sound like a UTI but it's a possibility that I would look into as a process of eliminating your cat's issues.

I'd also recommend getting some Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer for the stuff that you're not throwing out. Sometimes my boy will pee on one of my dog's beds and we ALWAYS treat the area that was peed on and then add a little extra when we throw it in the wash. It's critical that all materials are cleaned so that he doesn't feel the urge to respray.

It sounds like you've tried a pheromone diffuser. Have you tried Feliway specifically? I had some success with that stuff when I was living in apartments before buying a house. I think moving stressed my cats out and the diffuser seemed to alleviate that to some extent.

Another thing I noticed when I was dealing with my cats peeing on stuff was that if they had access to two litter boxes, one was always used for poop and one for pee. Maybe throw another litter box into the mix to see if that helps?

As for attention time, I'd try adding a play routine to your daily schedule with him. Get a laser pointer. Diversify the toy collection. Cat nip? Get him to move and use his energy. Help him be a full, happy cat!

A lot of the research I've done over the years adds up to stress from the environment. You've clearly already taken some of these steps, but here's what the Humane Society has to say about it:

  • Clean soiled areas thoroughly. Don't use strong-smelling cleaners, because they may cause your pet to "over-mark" the spot.
  • Make previously soiled areas inaccessible or unattractive. If this isn't possible, try to change the significance of those areas to your pet. Feed, treat and play with your pet in the areas they're inclined to mark.
  • Keep objects likely to cause marking out of reach. You should place items such as guests' belongings and new purchases in a closet or cabinet.
  • Restrict your pet's access to doors and windows through which they can observe animals outside.
  • A short course of anti-anxiety medication may help if your cat is feeling anxious during behavior modification. Speak to your veterinarian if your cat is acting anxiously.
  • Use a product like Feliway to inhibit your cat's spraying.
u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Frugal

That smell is mildew, which is another term for mold. There are different ways to kill it, but you do have to be cautious about damaging upholstry. If you are going to put anything on the fabric, test it in a hidden place first to make sure it doesn't discolor the fabric.

  1. Super frugal: Mildew needs moisture to survive. Dry, well-ventilated places are less habitable for it. Every time you give it a new infusion of moisture (i.e. sweat), it is reinvigorated. So, dry out the upholstry if you can. Even just putting a fan on it may help.

  2. Pretty frugal: Some household products are useful for fighting mildew. Vinegar and rubbing alcohol (used separately) can help, but may discolor certain fabrics, so dilute them in water and test in a hidden spot first. Diluted bleach works well, of course, but is almost definitely going to cause discoloration! Tea tree oil has antiseptic properties, and mixing 10-20 drops into a spray bottle can be quite effective. I just used this on my carpet at home to freshen up, and had no discoloration (but still test on your own fabrics).

  3. A little less frugal: You could try a product like Biokleen Bacout, which should kill mildew. There are multiple products out there designed to kill mildew, and they may be a good idea if you're having trouble finding something powerful enough and gentle enough for your upholstry.

In all cases, if you apply a liquid solution, be sure to dry out the fabric really well afterwards. Good luck!
u/czechica · 2 pointsr/houston

This is from personal experience, but I used a crate similar to this one with my pup and it made potty training much easier- especially if you're gone more than 8 hours at a time. If your dog rips up the pad like mine did, they make potty pad holders like these. A few accidents here and there during the first month are expected, but it helps to spray the urine spot with a deodorizing spray like this so they do not keep peeing on the same spot. Also, I've read that ammonia heavy products are terrible for cleaning up pee because it smells like urine to animals and encourages them to urinate on top of it. Hope that helps, happy training!

u/katemay3 · 8 pointsr/Dogtraining

So, I definitely agree on the positive reinforcement training!
He can be trained. We adopted a 2 year old lab that had been abused in his first home and while it took a year of intense training, he went from being aggressive and horrible on walks and easily scared to being one of the sweetest most social dogs I've ever met.

To get rid of urine smells I would try Nature's Miracle enzyme cleaner. You should also use it whenever the dog has an accident in the house. Non-enzyme cleaners cover up the smell so you can't smell it, but the dog still can so they will go in the same place over and over again. Nature's Miracle makes a whole line of cleaners for different surfaces, so buy whatever you need. https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-Advanced-Remover-24-Ounce/dp/B00251M2L2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1467488216&sr=8-4&keywords=nature%27s+miracle

I would look into some training classes so you can work with a trainer. The classes will cost money, so talk to your parents about that. You can reach out to the shelter where you got the pup or the local ASPCA/Humane Society - they typically have a good classes for reasonable prices. Also, try PetsMart for classes.

Also, for the peeing everywhere problem, make sure you check with the vet to rule out any health issues. Also, is the dog fixed? I'm guessing yes since he was a rescue, but it might also explain some of the aggression.

Good luck!

u/Pxyl · 3 pointsr/puppy101

I think everyone has left really good suggestions in the comments, but I would like to add that using an enzymatic cleaner after the mess is really important. It (should) remove their scent so as to not encourage repeat offenses. If you see your dog having an accident in the same spot recurrently, this might be a good investment.

When I was potty training my doggy I used Nok Out. And to be honest, even after training, there are chances for accidents, so I always keep a jug around.

Good luck! It's gonna be rough, but I'm sure your doggy will get the hang of it. Just remain patient :)

u/Eso · 3 pointsr/MechanicAdvice

I deal with water leaks fairly frequently at work. The easiest way to dry it out (after mopping up as much as you can of the water of course) is to run it with the heater on full blast for a few hours at a time. Parking it in a garage with a household dehumidifier running and all the windows down will help as well. Once it's fully dry, clean the mildewy spots as best as you can with a mild soap solution, then run with the heat on full blast for a few hours again to re-dry it. Then buy a couple of air sponges like http://www.amazon.com/Bad-Air-Sponge-Odor-Neutralant/dp/B001SBMLAM and let them sit in their, and use the car normally, and see if you can still smell mildew after a week or two.

Only after that would I start worrying about gutting it to clean it properly. You'd be surprised how well just getting it dry will clean it up.

u/this_shit · 1 pointr/philadelphia

OP, you're generous beyond belief. Stop me if you already know these things, but we've found these nuggos to be the best bang for the buck. Even with two dags, it'll last us 1.5-2 months with daily treats.

If she's into rawhide, costco has the best prices by far. Same thing for food ($23 for a 55lb bag!).

If she's peeing in your house, nothing beats nature's miracle to clean up the smell.

Make sure to lmk if you post a gofundme or an amazon wishlist or something. ✊🐕

u/dubiousunicorn · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Also, as far as the care of your clothing goes, I'd really recommend getting away from store bought detergents and fabric softeners. They're full of chemicals and are harsh on your clothing and hard on your washing machine. I've fallen in love with using soap nuts, distilled white vinegar, and wool dryer balls to do all my laundry.

Soap nuts: http://www.amazon.com/NaturOli-Berries-Seedless-Cleaner-Processed/dp/B001DU4XPY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420238438&sr=8-1&keywords=soap+nuts

Wool dryer balls: http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Sheep-Eco-friendly-All-Natural-Softener--Great/dp/B00GA9P5P0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420238492&sr=8-1&keywords=wool+dryer+balls

And a great stain remover: http://www.amazon.com/Bi-O-Kleen-Bac-Out-Eliminator-Foaming-Action/dp/B005P0UYDS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1420238539&sr=8-2&keywords=biokleen

Then, I just keep a big container of white vinegar around to use as a fabric softener. If you like you can also add whatever essential oils you like to either the vinegar or onto the dryer balls (or both). Orange oil is my favorite, and I like this bigger bottle: http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Orange-Sweet-ounce/dp/B0019LPL8A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420238679&sr=8-1&keywords=NOW+orange+oil

I've found this saves money, water, energy, the whole shebang. I also have really sensitive skin, so switching to this way of doing laundry has really benefitted me all around.

u/cappanmanzikert · 4 pointsr/AskReddit

I'd completely restart house breaking them.

Start by cleaning all the floors in your house with an enzymatic cleanser like Natures Miracle or X-0 Plus. I think X-0 works better, but its more expensive. Both products get rid of the lingering odors that could be encouraging the dogs to pee there again.

Then treat them like they are puppies and start house breaking all over again. The regular schedule, potty command, and praise stuff that another poster suggested is how I trained my dogs.

u/Raymundoklementes · 3 pointsr/dogs

Urine has ammonia in it. Most cleaning products you're able to find in the cleaning aisle at Wal-Mart also have ammonia, including Resolve's pet formula and 409 for carpet. If you clean with ammonia, it's going to be really hard to get rid of the pet urine smell, since the cleaner isn't breaking down that ammonia. The best thing I have found to do (shy of shampooing the carpet, which gets really old) is to use an enzymatic cleaner. The enzymes break down the ammonia and help get rid of the smell. BONUS-your pet also won't smell the ammonia, since it's being broken down, and this prevents re-soiling in the same spot!

I use OUT! brand pet stain and odor remover. It hasn't turned my carpets a weird color or anything! I get it in the pet care aisle at Wal-Mart, where the dog shampoo is. Here's the product on Amazon, if you'd rather order it. I usually get it for $5 at Wal-Mart. The one I use has a purple label, but I believe it has the same ingredients as the one on Amazon.

Hope that helps! I don't think I've used the word ammonia as much before. Lol

u/georgethecurious · 1 pointr/gerbil

Sure!

I buy practically everything on Amazon and these would be my top recommendations:

Hidey Hut - this is large enough to fit two grown gerbils and my first survived the chewing for close to 4 years.

Small Animal Pet Playpen/Exercise Pen - this is just tall enough for the jumpers. I've still had some be able to reach the top but it is a struggle and you'd be able to catch them in time. Really sturdy as well.

Kordon/Oasis (Novalek) SOA80304 Bell Bottle and Hold Guard Small Animal Value Set, 4-Ounce - this is by far my favorite recommendation of the bunch. I cannot tell you how many water bottles were just destroyed and I would come home to an empty bottle and a very wet gerbil. This thing is impenetrable!

Kaytee Hamster Silent Spinner, 6 1/2 inch Exercise Wheel - although I've had to buy a couple of these (they will chew the yellow part holding the bottom part to the wheel) I find that this is the sturdiest of them all. It becomes less silent the more they chew on it and push it around but it's never been loud enough to be considered especially annoying.

Great for cleaning cage and is safe

As far as dust baths go, I've tried several different kinds and find them all to be equivalent.

Would not recommend:

Ware Manufacturing Flying Saucer Exercise Wheel for Small Pet - the quality is fine here but if you are using carefresh, it gets buried and doesn't allow any give for it to spin.

Kaytee Woodland Get-A-Way Medium Hamster House - quality here is also fine and it's pretty thick so it would take a while to get them to chew. Since it is wood, it absorbs liquids. My gerbils would pee on it and it got to the point that it looked moldy and unhealthy so I just threw it out.

Alfie Pet by Petoga Couture - GARI Wood Hut for Small Animals like Dwarf Hamster and Mouse - Size: Large - this is the cutest little home I've ever seen. I had to eventually throw out though because the wood was so thin that the back wall collapsed due to their chewing and would no longer stand up.

Prevue Pet Products Multi-Color Small Pet Playpen 40090 - I think the quality is here too. It's just too short. My gerbils were easily able to escape this.

GreatChoice Water Bottle - chewed through in a week and Same

Bac Out Stain & Odor Remover

Love this stuff! It's on the shelf at my local Safeway but Amazon has a great price. It even works when added to the bath water of a stinky dog, and that's some serious stuff. LOL

As a carpet cleaner we use this stuff for all odors. I have used it on stuff as strong as skunk a d cigarette stinch thatcwas layered in a smoker's car. Gone like it never happened. It has a enzyme a d bacteria that break down chemically what gi es off the smell. A d it is perfectly safe to get on your skin.

This stuff is the fucking BEST: Nature's Miracle Advanced Stain and Odor Eliminator, 32oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0723HRWJW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FtIXDbWNQ9MJN

u/BuffetofWomanliness · 3 pointsr/LifeProTips

I bought this because my house started smelling funky in a few places. In a small enclosed area, it really does work very well. I am going to purchase a few more, actually. One for each affected area/room.

Vacuum the rugs, sweep the floors often etc. If you have rugs, I suggest sprinkling some baking soda on rugs and letting sit for 15 minutes before vacuuming. Also, this sounds kind of silly, but crack a window here and there to let some fresh air in and the bad air out. I find that a lot of products (chemicals) all mixed together (Febreeze on furniture, air fresheners etc) don't really work. It still smells like dog on top of whatever scent you're using and the scent doesn't seem to last all that long, anyway.

Good luck!

PS... I forgot to mention that I have a pitbull that likes to roll around in the grass and dirt in my backyard.

u/MoonlightGroove · 1 pointr/CleaningTips

Even if you use delivery bags oil is a fickle thing and probably still getting into your trunk liner. Think about it—oily hands are handling the pizza and box it goes in, the bag zippers, the counters you set the bag on in the store, etc. The oil just from pie preparation is all over the store and you touch it every time you touch a surface in there. Not a bad thing, just a fact of your job.

If your trunk liner is removable try laundering it with a good degreasing soap. You also may want to look into placing a container of some sort into your trunk that you then place the delivery bag into. A shallow, wide plastic tub without a lid would be perfect for this. You can take the bin out when you’re not working if you like and you can also just take the bin inside the house and wash it with dish soap as needed. That should contain and cut down on what the delivery bag touches and what the scent-causing residue is transferred to. Past that you can certainly place an odor-eliminating canister into your trunk. Try Ozium or the Bad Air Sponge.

u/arizona-lad · 5 pointsr/HomeImprovement

I have had excellent luck with enzyme cleaners. They break down the odor causing compounds into their component parts. This is one I like:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0711W5XC9

Just be aware that it does not work instantly. I keep the floor slightly moist with three or four applications a day. Usually de-stinks a place in 72 to 96 hours.

It may work for you, as well.

u/artgreendog · 3 pointsr/dogs

Let him eat outside and immediately bring him to the spot you want him to pee. Praise him profusely. Do this until he is consistent. Could take a couple weeks.

We have long grass out back and I taught my dog to go potty in there (#1 + #2) so I don’t have to pick up the poo!

The BEST thing for neutralizing odor is Nature’s Miracle.

u/sohaliatalitha · 1 pointr/dogs

We had real trouble potty training our dog, so I sympathize.

Here is what I think: Dog pee sticks around. To a dog, anywhere that has been peed on is like a giant "Bathroom here!" sign. There's something in dog pee that normal chemicals can't clean up.

You need to clean your home from top to bottom with proper dog urine cleanser like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Simple-Solution-Stain-Odour-Remover/dp/B004GBX8N0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449155351&sr=8-1&keywords=dog+urine+cleaner

If you can get an ultraviolet light, it will help you spot the problem areas.

Once you've done the clean up, go back to basics. Every 30 minutes she goes outside. Set a timer on your phone, and take her outside. you watch her like a hawk for any sign... basically she becomes a puppy again.

u/EatMyDuck · 4 pointsr/india

If you turn on the exhaust while cooking, and just get one of these it takes care of the problem perfectly. I interact with plenty of non-Indian in the US, and do regularly try out all sorts of cuisines, but I do cook mostly Indian food, just because I feel like it.

I also find Indians who keep apologizing for other Indians a bit silly. We're a country of 1.2 billion, so obviously there's a fair share of idiots. I just don't associate with the crazy ones, but I don't feel I have to apologize for their behaviour.

Thanks. Great amazon ratings too. Think I'm going to try this.

u/maidenofmp · 5 pointsr/BabyBumps

We've been using Biokleen powdered detergent and Biokleen Bac-Out since our firstborn was a baby. The laundry powder comes in unscented as well as non-offensive, lightly scented citrus varieties. Both products are great for stains, eco-friendly, and non-irritating. Bac-Out is especially wonderful in eradicating poop and spit up! We've never had any issues with skin irritation with either product, plus the laundry powder lasts much longer than liquid detergent.

u/CH31415 · 1 pointr/Guitar

I'd go 1:1. If you start with that and then let it sit in the sun like frenchst said that would be a good start. I've also read activated charcoal could help.

u/manatee1010 · 5 pointsr/Dogtraining

a. Clean the area with an enzymatic cleaner (Nature's Miracle is my favorite). Cleaning with vinegar means he is still able to smell previous messes, making accidents in that same spot more likely.

b. Block off that hallway for the time being unless you are physically present with him. Every time he potties down there, he's practicing a bad habit.

Right now he just thinks the hallway is an okay place to potty. If you clean the area thoroughly and make sure all his trips down that hallway are supervised for a period of time, you'll be setting him up for success and will help him learn that it is not a place to potty.

u/mattmcmhn · 3 pointsr/rawdenim

Disinfectant spray generally shouldn't have any ill effects on the denim. I have used Nature's Miracle before, it definitely will help with any odor problems (which stem from bacteria in the first place). It's strong stuff, basically made for pet stain odors. Basically the instructions say "if it still smells when it dries, you didn't use it right".

u/hanginround · 1 pointr/cars

Dude, this is very easy. First, open all the windows, vent the car very well and you will be able to find where it pissed. Cat piss smells terrible, once the car is vented and you know the spot do two things. Clean it with a wet cloth, many... many times. Then, go to your local pet store and buy "Natures Miracle" Link below and soak the piss our of it... pun intended... :) I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses, this shit works. Once soaked, wipe it up, dry it off, and soak it again. Dry it off again and then spray a bit on it. Let her sit for a while. If you still catch a smell soak her again with natures miracle and clean it up again. This stuff does wonders on cat piss!

http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-Advanced-Remover-24-Ounce/dp/B00251M2L2/ref=pd_sim_petsupplies_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0ET3KYXMX484P7ZJ8R06

u/cucumbers · 2 pointsr/dogs

Yes. The advanced formula for carpet is what I'd buy:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00251M2L2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1449071464&sr=8-3&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=natures+miracle&dpPl=1&dpID=413h1BH7dQL&ref=plSrch

For fresh stains, blot up all the urine with paper towels first. Spray the stuff on and let it sit. I think the bottle says 5 min or so. Then you wipe up the leftover chemicals with a fresh paper towel. It removes the stain and the odor completely.

For old stains (dried in), you spray it on and wait longer. It works pretty decently for this purpose, whereas the SpotBot hardly works at all for dried stains.

My advice as a sitter is to completely prevent access to carpeted areas of your home, until the dog can be 100% trusted. Baby gates suck, but cleaning urine stains at 5am gets OLD.

u/thicklypadded · 1 pointr/SexToys

Not all of these may apply to you, so please don't take offense if something doesn't.

  • Eat enough fiber (probably a good recommendation regardless of where you play).

  • Clean you butt's outside. You may not be wiping as well as you think. Flushable moist wipes are the shizzz.

  • Clean you butt's inside. Buy a fleet enema at any pharmacy, dump out the salt water and refill with lukewarm water, then use that a time or two to rinse out your insides. When you do it and all that comes out is water and no poop, you are good to go.

  • Get some disposable latex/vinyl/nitrile gloves.

  • For heaven's sake put a towel or blanket or tshirt or something down to separate your ass from the chair/couch/carpet/upholstery.
  • If you do get your couch/carpet/etc. impregnated with butt smell, try Biokleen and follow the label instructions.

You might try a butt plug. Lovehoney has a 2 for $25 deal right now.

I had one of these for our old apartment for any stains from our dogs, food spills, or anything. You could also get this which is an enzyme cleaner and is pet and kid safe.

u/joebillybob · 1 pointr/Homes

This is what you need to buy! It's called Anti-Icky Poo, you can get it on Amazon for $30. Use it anywhere you think it could be and see if it works... worth a try before you decide to start knocking down walls ;)

> Natures miracle then Paint over with kilz to trap odors

Should I just dump something like this in a bucket with a couple gallons of water and spread it around the floor?:

https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-Remover-24-Ounce-P-5553/dp/B001LUO1K8/

Or should I use a wet vac with something else?

For the Kilz, does this work?:

https://www.amazon.com/KILZ-Maximum-Blocking-Interior-1-gallon/dp/B007XH9PKO/

Isn't there a risk of this pealing up underneath in the future? We may use wider planks, which would require glue. Not sure how well that would bond with the paint being on top.

u/Tokyo81 · 2 pointsr/Weddingsunder10k

You could try this first, as it's less likely to have any negative effects on the fabric.
I used activated charcoal shoe deodorizers and they took the damp dog smell out of my backpack after sealing it all up in a bag with a few for a couple of weeks.
Loose charcoal is obviously risky because it could stain the dress, but something encased in plastic like this or this may help.
Whatever you do, take precautions to keep the charcoal from coming into direct contact with your dress though.

One of my friends turned me onto the product Bac-Out. You spray it on your clothes at least five minutes before you throw them in the wash, and enzymes in the spray break down bacteria that causes your clothes to start smelling. It's not practical for me to do laundry every day, so I spray it on, let my clothes hang to dry over night, and then wash them a couple days later.

My clothes were really smelly before, and this has really helped!

Do you have a link?

Here's the one I've got when I clicked to re-order ($41): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00251GJ5W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then, they say there is a "newer model", but it is still $32. https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-Advanced-Stain-Eliminator/dp/B0711W5XC9/ref=dp_ob_title_pet

I'm not an expert on the product (not sure what makes the different formulas better/worse than others), but can't really find a gallon jug for $20....

Mr. Max Anti Icky Poo. It's a pet product. I don't have any pets, but I use this in my car. I have two kids who spill stuff, and have gotten sick in the car.
Works great. My MIL once thought I got the car detailed after I cleaned with this.
It works on old stains too. Sometimes I don't know about spills until well after they've happened.

This stuff works and its safe. https://www.amazon.com/Biokleen-Bac-Out-Stain-Remover-Ounces/dp/B005P0UYDS

You can also use vinegar.

u/used-books · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

If a heavy smoker lived there previous, you make need to repaint and remove any carpets.
Bad air sponge has good reviews for removing smoke smells that linger.

u/gnomicaoristredux · 2 pointsr/fragrance

In addition to whatever scent you end up choosing, you might also want to use an air neutralizer like bad air sponge.

u/cracklynuts · 2 pointsr/onebag

Try Bio Kleen. I use it to clean poop off my infant's clothing.

u/CrownRabbit · 1 pointr/ferrets

I have this stuff and it works great on not just my hardwood floors but also on plastic and linoleum. Just spray the area and wait 5 minutes before wiping up.

u/fancytalk · 3 pointsr/knitting

So sorry to hear that! I would definitely try to wash it. My cat peed in my husband's car on the way home from the vet and we got the smell out with vinegar and one of these odor absorbers.

u/iliikepie · 1 pointr/AirBnB

Anti Icky Poo works really well for blood, urine, etc.

u/EaeelilWork · 1 pointr/mildlyinteresting

Also, i use some stuff called "Natures Miracle" works really well and is specifically designed for cat pee.

u/dojo-dingo · 10 pointsr/quilting

It'll remove it. If not on the first wash, then stop by a pet supply store or Amazon and look for "Nature's Miricle" products. I have a massive german shepherd and when we were house training her, she had some issues... Many rugs, blankets, and duvets were saved because of that product. I would wash that quilt a couple of times, just to be totally sure.

Going forward, I would be mindful how much time and attention you give everyone. Your dog may be marking/spraying because they're upset the new baby is getting the attention the dog used to be getting. Or it really could just be territorial. I've seen dogs do it before, and thankfully they usually stop as the baby gets older.

I know of a product that is sold at pet stores. It's called Nature's Miracle. It uses enzymes to break down pet waste. It should work for semen too.

I had to start spraying this on the underarms of my polyester work shirts: [Nature's Miracle Stain and Odor Remover (24 oz Spray- 2 Pack)] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HCIWJ7A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_if.RzbCAH015P)

It was the only thing that got the funk out! I haven't tried spraying anything without washing it afterwards, but the spray does not have a strong odor. It should work!

u/mmabpa · 1 pointr/clothdiaps

I wash every 4-5 days so, out of an abundance of (paranoid) caution, I spray my poop diapers with a diluted solution of Bac Out after spraying them off. I've been called out on this sub before for this being unnecessary but I've been doing that since Toddler was in diapers and it's been working for us.

u/Volkodavy · 2 pointsr/dogs

I think you should try the NM hardwood floor spray first just in case before using the red bottle. Vinegar and baking soda won't do the trick, you need these enzymatic cleaners

Hardwood: https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-Remover-24-Ounce-P-5553/dp/B001LUO1K8

Try an odor sponge in your room.

u/tipofthetongueteeth · 1 pointr/electronic_cigarette

>And the whole time I just keep thinking that I did this to myself.

Seriously man. My past self was a jerk.

One unasked for suggestion: something like the Bad Air Sponge for the things you can't wipe, launder, or toss. It actually absorbs the odor rather than just wafting perfume over it.

I've been asked "What smells amazing?" a handful of times already and it's always my vape. It's quite the mental adjustment.

u/ChickenNuggetTime · 9 pointsr/homemaking

You might try wiping surfaces with a diluted mixture of vinegar and water. The persistent smell could be trapped in grease molecules/residue in the vent hood, on cabinets, backsplashes, etc. and this should help.

Nature's Miracle and OdoBan are my go-to's for porous surfaces. Maybe spritz one of those on the walls and carpets, then air out.

u/burritonaps · 3 pointsr/trees

I too use my car a lot but I used to hate driving around with a car that reeks, aside from air freshners looking into getting these:
Bad air sponge: http://www.amazon.com/The-Original-Sponge-Odor-Neutralant/dp/B001SBMLAM
Smoke buddy filter: http://smokebuddy.com/

u/al-smithee · 1 pointr/AskMen

I do costumes for film and our stunt folks have incredible lingering bo in their stunt pads. Usually a 50/50 vinegar water spray works, others prefer vodka or rubbing alcohol, but vinegar is tried and true for me, but these stunties! So we use nature’s miracle on their stuff. Don’t forget your shoes. https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Miracle-Remover-Control-Lavender/dp/B072JGMVLF/ref=sr_1_17?keywords=Natures+miracle&qid=1566850971&s=gateway&sr=8-17

I also can’t recommend the bad air sponge enough. https://www.amazon.com/Bad-Air-Sponge-Absorbing-Neutralant/dp/B001SBMLAM/ref=sr_1_6?crid=JEF9F1X6FYJY&keywords=bad+air+sponge&qid=1566851099&s=gateway&sprefix=Bad+a%2Caps%2C232&sr=8-6 This is the sort of thing our family that does disaster recovery uses.

I’m about to escalate my war on stench against the cats with these new products: Rocco & Roxie Professional Strength Stain & Odor Eliminator - Enzyme-Powered Pet Odor & Stain Remover for Dog and Cats Urine and Angry Orange Pet Odor Eliminator for Dog and Cat Urine, Makes 1 Gallon of Solution for Carpet, Furniture and Floor Stains. I’ve found that febreeze just doesn’t cut it with intense bo, so we don’t use it on set. Sweat and urine have similar compositions and require enzymes to break them down. Fair warning some times it smells worse after you spray it because the moisture reactivates the bacteria, but it really cuts the stench as a laundry additive, but the bad air sponge helps and doesn’t require you to leave your home like an ozone machine does. Good luck!
