> Again, as skipping or fast forwarding a video removes the audio component

Fast forwarding doesn't, it's how I get through lengthy recorded lectures on youtube and most of the material on Coursera. In fact one you get used to listening to professors go fast it's almost annoying to listen to them at normal speed.

> The way I feel about it, the whole reason I am paying for an instructor is specifically because it is there role to tell me what I need to know. It is up to me to figure out exactly what is the best way for me to learn the material. But what is the purpose of the instructor if I have to figure out what I should be learning on my own?

I'm not saying they don't tell you what you need to learn, in fact I say just that

> I rather the educator establish what must be learned and have students assess how developed their own knowledge is

So no problem there I guess

> Also, tests, quizzes, and even just asking the class questions can easily gauge the level of knowledge that the students currently have. I have had several professors start a semester with a general quiz on the subject matter specifically so they could gauge where the class stands.

Sure, but the first issue you'll run into is there will be students with various different levels of knowledge and particular knowledge gaps. What is the teacher supposed to do? Prescribing videos that cover the gaps in their knowledge sounds like a great solution. To me this problem seems better addressed on my side of things. But I would even dispute how useful quizzes are, knowledge isn't a simple binary. I understand the mathematics behind derivatives and integrals extremely well, but I always forget things like the quotient rule. Because of the way most math quizzes work the results of mine would tell you I don't know basically nothing about derivatives, when the truth is that I just hate memorizing formulas.

> Never underestimate the ability of an older generation to mess up technology. I have several professors that still haven't figured out how to make Blackboard work properly despite it being a centerpiece of education for over a decade. I've also never left a comment on Soundcloud because I find the process too frustrating. Part of that might be because I am usually not logged in and by the time I actually log in I forget what I wanted to say or the time I wanted to say it. With a comment or question in a class, what you are posting might take a bit to type out and so will have the same delay effect that I have problems with on Soundcloud.

Sure, and older doctors resist adopting new treatments, but we don't just give up on improving people's lives because of their incompetence. I'm sorry but luddites will never get my sympathies.

As to the comments I could try to circumvent it, but I'll just bite the bullet on the harms for sake of argumentation. OK, rather than outsourcing problem solving to the teacher at the first sign of problem students now have an environment which benefits them if they can figure things out on their own. Smaller questions they didn't really need help with they solve themselves, the ones that matter get through. Sounds great.

Even if we assume a portion of the important ones don't get through since they are important once they are in class discussing the material with he professor they'll remember and bring it up then. I really don't see the issue. People aren't goldfish, I have faith they can hold ideas in their heads for more than 3 seconds. (though I actually think that bit about goldfish might be a myth)

> Yes. I had a class once that met at 9:30 in the morning (I am not a morning person and call anything before 2:00 early) that didn't meet some days in favor of an online assignment that we could do at any time. I very much feel like I would have learned more by showing up to class and having a lecture even if I only managed to hold out 5 minutes before falling asleep. Even the worst lectures I have had still tech me more than the best instructional videos I have ever seen.

Well it seems we are both edge cases. On my end I'm so sick of how stagnant the educational system is I'm considering dropping out altogether. But I don't see why a switch to my system isn't a huge win for people like me while only being a small loss for people like you. Like I said before:

> For those who prefer human contact under my model that would still exist, and it would involve even more interaction because all the time would be dedicated to the interacting with the educator. The model I put forth seems to accommodate a greater variety of learning styles and interests than the status quo while taking very little away from those who currently benefit.

> Severe ADD

This is fascinating to me because I actually have friends with ADD and they seem much more engaged by video formats like PBS Idea Channel because there's enough going on there to hold their attention. None of them have a particularly severe case though.

I kind of relate a lot of this myself, for a while we thought I had ADD, but when we got it checked the diagnosis was negative. I currently have 19 pages open, each with almost as many tabs. I'm watching Blacklist as I type this, and I'm talking to friends on Facebook as well. I feel the need to move constantly and so I'm always bouncing my leg, and I do it with such vigor I have friends who detest sitting next to me and will refuse to sit next to me if our seats are in any way connected. I actually borrow a lot of my study advice from /r/ADHD and I bought this fidget back when I was in the US to help me be able to focus better, and it totes helped... Until I lost it.

Now if I have this many problems with attention and I don't have ADHD, I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you. That being said, I don't see why a university wouldn't be able to offer a physical screening of videos for students who wanted it. I'd probably be in favor of it, great way to socialize with classmates and get natural discussions going as well as some peer to peer help.

---

All that to say my view remains unchanged, you've helped me think my view through some more, but it's still where it started. Which is a shame, because I wish I could show you my appreciation for the time and effort you put into this response by awarding you a delta. I really do appreciate it though, like, a lot. I love getting to read and write arguments back and forth like this, you pretty much made my day (and it had been a terrible day). However it is the end of my day and I do need to get some work done, so I won't continue responding to this thread. Feel free to throw in one last comment if you wish, but I can't promise I'll answer (which I want you to know just so you don't write an awesome response and then feel ignored).

I've been asked to add this here from another post I made yesterday. I plan to add to it as I think of things.

  • I've always wanted to receive a yarn bouquet for my birthday. There's so many cool options--want yarn that's the same color as her birthstone? does she prefer a specific weight or color of yarn?--and most, if not all, of the bouquets include needles and a pattern for a project. I think it's a cool romantic gift.
  • I have been eyeing this personalized yarn bowl forever now.
  • Maybe she would like to try a new skill, like spinning, or dyeing? You might find her a starter kit--the ones at KnitPicks are a good start. I swear to god, the most romantic gift I've ever received was a set of one hundred silkworms in cocoons for me to practice processing, spinning, and dyeing.
  • We love project bags, and you might search Etsy to find a bag with a fabric pattern that crosses over into another of her interests.
  • I love Lantern Moon stitch markers. Stitch markers disappear like guitar picks and left socks, I can guarantee she'll find another set useful.
  • If you want to get her some knitter's pride swag, check out Cafe Press. Some of my favorite themes for t-shirts and tote bags are "Knit Happens" "Knit fast, die warm" "It's not a hobby, it's a post-apocalyptic life skill" etc.
  • She might be pleased to receive a gift card for one of her favorite indie dyers or suppliers. I love Leading Men Fiber Arts and if she spins, holy cow, Three Waters Farm. Seriously I couldn't even allow myself to look at those links just now.
  • This mug has been on my wishlist forever, I just can't bring myself to cover the shipping.
  • Books! Just...here. Have a look at my personal Amazon wishlist. Also--subscriptions to knitting magazines would be a cool gift that lasts all year. I like the magazines that Interweave offers. Piecework is my favorite, as I'm interested in the history behind knitting. KnitScene has some cute stuff and fun projects, but it is geared more towards beginner knitters. Sounds like she's a bit more advanced for that and might prefer Interweave Knits. Knit Simple is another more beginner-oriented magazine. What else? Oh, I personally don't care for Vogue Knitting. The patterns, while often impressive, are hardly ever practical and I personally don't feel like are worth my time.
  • One of the best Christmas gifts I've received was this knitting basket. I love project bags for their portability, but I love the authenticity of my old fashioned chairside basket.
  • Sometimes yarn is fickle. A pattern isn't making sense, or the yarn is uncooperative, and we need a break from our regularly scheduled programming. Many of us take this time to pursue cross stitch, painting, or some other kind of craft. I really like jigsaw puzzles. They give my hands a bit of a break, but keep my mind engaged in the same sort of flow that knitting provides. I love my two yarn themed puzzles: this one, this one and this one.

I'll come back if I think of extra stuff.

Bonus suggestion!!! Target is selling knitting themed wrapping paper in the Christmas section. It looks like this but unfortunately is only sold in stores and is not available online.

Comfy Clothes/Pajamas

There are so many cute outfits and pajama sets on sale this time of year. They usually even come bundled up, neatly folded and tied with a pretty bow. Target, Kohls, and Marshalls have goof selections.

Old Navy usually has super comfortable waffle-knit tops, fleeces, and sweaters, usually for $12 or less.

There's always these slippers: https://www.amazon.com/Doctor-Who-Womens-TARDIS-Slippers/dp/B00KMR92C8/

And this shirt seems pretty popular: https://www.amazon.com/Ripple-Junction-T-Shirt-Charcoal-Heather/dp/B00G31LGTE/

Cats

Does she have a cat of her own? If so, consider getting a fun treat for the cat.

She might get a laugh out of this book: https://www.amazon.com/Sorry-Barfed-Other-Heartwarming-Letters/dp/1449427049/

If not, every sale from this site goes to support animals. These socks are pretty cute:

Could she use some yarn?

  • Puppet shows! Hand puppets, stick puppets, shadow puppets...whatever. Bonus: use them to recreate stories/memories from your relationship for each other.
  • Cool puzzles, like this Sherlock Holmes one or other mystery puzzles. You read a little mystery, put together the jigsaw puzzle, then have to solve the mystery using clues from the puzzle.
  • Two-player apps: Draw Something, Words with Friends, Scramble with Friends, Two Player Reactor
  • Portal or Portal 2 in co-op mode
  • Pick a formulaic movie you haven't seen (on Netflix, Hallmark Channel, Lifetime, etc.) and make a Bingo board for the most likely cheesy elements of the movie
  • Build stuff from LEGOs, Play-doh, or sugar cubes
  • Makeovers!
  • Read poetry to each other
  • Devise elaborate pranks to play on other couples/friends
  • Take turns teaching each other a skill or hobby that you have

EDIT: Some friends of mine used to play a game they called the "Anything in the World Challenge." Basically one would challenge the other to give them anything in the world, and the other would have to find a way to creatively fulfill the request. So you could ask her for the Eiffel Tower, and she'd make a replica out of toothpicks, and she'd ask you for giant squid footage so you'd make a video using a sock puppet squid...something like that. You make the requests of each other at the same time, then separate for a set amount of time to put together the request. It was good fun, and needing to stay in the house while playing would make it a fun challenge.

Fidget toys!

I went through a few and found fidget rings the most useful:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0019648V6

and this from StimTastic:

http://www.stimtastic.co/stim-jewelry/bike-chain-fidget-bracelet-heavy-weight

Or a yo-yo, and juggling balls. Anything physical helps us focus.

I'm 33yo, and running my own business, so don't worry about your friend being too old for this :)

On the other hand, I'd be careful with the planner, and possibly the portfolio folder and the post-it notes - personally, for me, that would be overwhelming and stressful. As in: more things to figure out how to use.

As for the other ideas - perhaps a book? I liked "Time Warrior", and "Drummer and great mountain". If he's trying to get back in shape too, then definitely "How to think about exercise".

And don't forget a card of course! If it were me, the best words of support would be to take my time, take it easy, and that my friends will be there for me.

You're an amazing friend for doing this!

Anything made in Oregon. This is a bit of a stretch but bear with me. The Bourne Triology preceeds The Bournce Legacy. Which starred Edward Norton who also starred in Fight Club. A movie based off the book who was written by none other than Chuck Palahniuk who is from Oregon & resides there.

I'll be back to finish this!

These would be amazing in puzzles. OP, get someone from Ravensburger or some other great puzzle company and get these made. I bought this last year and it's amazing! Yours would look awesome as well!

u/raine_ · 2 pointsr/pics

Yeah my preference is 1-2k pieces when I do these, I always use 1 cent per piece as a baseline for a reasonably priced puzzle. Ravensburger ones and a few others I'm willing to spend a little bit more on cause I know what quality to expect, but in general it seems like a good benchmark.

Spent $25 on a nice 1000 piece one that's actually made of wood, and even though I only did it like once, damn that was a nice puzzle. If I could get a 3k in wood, in a design I like, I'd say up to about $75 would probably be reasonable.

like this one that I've wanted for a few years now is a little more expensive when not on sale, but if I had a place to assemble it I think it'd totally be a decently priced puzzle and would probably get it.

u/CuriousChemist · 2 pointsr/Columbus

If you want an amazing quality, highly challenging puzzle buy this one. https://www.amazon.com/Disney-Stained-Jigsaw-Puzzle-DS-1000-764/dp/B005SL896I/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1474298306&sr=1-1&keywords=disney+puzzle

I'm a puzzler. I love puzzles. I love hard puzzles. This is my favorite puzzle I've worked on to date.

u/Trabethany · 2 pointsr/Jigsawpuzzles

https://www.amazon.com/JIGSORT-1500-Jigsaw-puzzle-Jigthings/dp/B002ZHJAYS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483410512&sr=8-1&keywords=jigsort+1500

This is what I use. It also comes in a 1k piece size. There are larger Jigsort boards, but the 2k+ ones don't come with the case. The boards are great, and the case is even better. Once I'm done working on my puzzle I just put everything back in place and zip it up, and I'm able to store the entire thing on it's side without the puzzle slipping at all. It's kind of pricey, but if you frequently do puzzles it's worth it :)

u/amabeebus · 1 pointr/Jigsawpuzzles

I have this and I love it! The board comes out of the carrying case for when you are working on it. When I'm done for the night but don't want to put it completely away I just put the sort trays on top of the puzzle and it covers the whole thing. When I'm done for a while, I put the tray in the carrying case and slide it under my bed. It's awesome! I have a cat too and this protects the puzzle from her quite nicely.

u/SuperheatedSteam · 2 pointsr/Gunpla

I'm assuming you're in America, since you're stating you obtained US currency.

Here's a filtered list on Amazon of all Gundam related kits from Bandai Hobby that is currently being sold for under 25 USD.

I suggest comparing the kit's price to Bandai's suggested Japanese retail price to get the most bang for your buck. For example, take the HG Genoace II. It is currently $9.99. Compare that to Bandai's suggested retail price of 1200 yen (around 12 USD). The Genoace II is about the same price as you would see in Japan. That is a GREAT PRICE. Another quickly spoted good price on Amazon at the moment is Gundam X Maoh - 16 USD compared to 1800 JPY

I should mention if you can Prime, or free shipping in general, its better.

u/Lillumultipass99 · 3 pointsr/boardgames

Well, as a father of 2 toadlers that loves soloing long games such as Mage Knigt, Anachrony, I faced a similar predicament last year and I found something that changed forever my solo boardgaming hobby : https://www.amazon.com/JIGSORT-1500-Jigsaw-puzzle-Jigthings/dp/B002ZHJAYS

It does not work for all games as you cannot leave tall pieces, but for most games I have tried it is ok, although depending on the game, I have to remove some stuff before putting it back in the lid (e.g., minis in MK or Anachrony...). What I do is I always take multiple pictures of the board state before hand because tokens can move a bit. In any case, it makes tearing down and setting up again much more palatable.

u/Dungeoness · 1 pointr/Jigsawpuzzles

If you're a fan of this style, definitely consider getting this one. It's even on sale atm, and 15 bucks is a steal for how enjoyable this puzzle was to do. Amazing, bold colors, lots of discrete borders and patterns to work on, and the pieces fit together like a dream. Even with ours missing one piece, I still recommend it highly.

u/DawnieN · 2 pointsr/Jigsawpuzzles

I have this one and I love it. It’s pricey but great quality. I put it on my bed or on the floor to do puzzles and it also comes with four sorting boards which are very helpful.

I find fidgets really helpful too. Something like this ring would be handy to have. He could wear it out and it wouldn't look weird when fiddling with it. Or something more affordable like this. And it'd probably fit in the pocket easy.

Zelda puzzle!. Because, well, Zelda.

I'd love a surprise! :D

Thanks for the contest!

u/AnUpsidedownTurtle · 1 pointr/Jigsawpuzzles

This puzzle from Ravensburger was truly maddening. I ended up taking a couple weeks break from it because it was so difficult. However, the feeling of completing it is true triumph unlike ever before. It's only 654 pieces but it's a doozy. Good luck if you dare.

u/captain_deudermont · 5 pointsr/arkhamhorrorlcg

Just thought, but my Mum love to do jigsaw puzzles. She uses a large jigsaw folder to hold the pieces in place to move it. Something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Puzzle-Mates-Portapuzzle-Standard-Accessory/dp/B0016FQK1Q/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=jigsaw+foldable&qid=1565339601&s=gateway&sr=8-6

u/Raeko_22 · 2 pointsr/Jigsawpuzzles

I also tried shipping boxes for years, but I easily lost pieces while moving the whole thing around. That's when i bought a sort of puzzle mat, that has a rather solid back and closable side wings. The puzzle enclosed, is on some kind of fabric so that individual pieces can't move when its shut. This made it so much more convenient, to move any puzzle in the making around the flat. (I am rather slow and interest is fluctuating so it sometimes takes me a few weeks :P) You can find it here: https://www.amazon.de/Jumbo-10806-Puzzle-Portapuzzle-Standard/dp/B0016FQK1Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=jumbo+puzzlematte&qid=1567344117&s=gateway&sr=8-4

If I'm listening to music I'll dance (I'm literally dancing as I type this) I do it for fun at times like this. But I'll also dance while I do work because it helps keep me awake and focused.

In work I use this thing as it's a little more subtle.

u/GloverAB · 3 pointsr/gaming

The silver one up top is called Krypt, and it's made by Ravensberger so it's actually pretty great quality.

The girl I got has a ton of fascinating interests including Travel and puzzles. She really wants to visit Egypt. I'll edit this with links to the stuff I got her.

The coolest puzzle I have ever seen!

She's very smart and professional so a Fine Art puzzle with 6 diff options was a must.

Some makeup brushes to round things out

u/meyerchris7 · 3 pointsr/10cloverfieldlane

Ok guys, we have to discuss the puzzle. I don't think the puzzle pieces themselves are important, if they were if any one got lost the whole lead could be ruined. What information have we gained from the pieces? We have the puzzle they are from it is of the tower of course http://www.amazon.com/Re-Marks-Eiffel-Tower-Puzzle/dp/B0030CI28W/ref=sr_1_7?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1453488630&sr=1-7&keywords=Eiffel+Tower+puzzle . We have the retailer who has a password protected catalog section on their website.

www.remarks.net (I doubt they have anything to do with this and seem to be good people please don't harass them)

Personally I think the puzzle pieces are just meant to lead us somewhere, and not to actually be solved. But to where? Let me know what you guys think.

u/exponentiate · 3 pointsr/ADHD

Yup! Stuff like spinner rings, stress balls, silly putty, interlocking ring toys, really anything small and quiet that keeps your hands busy. A lot of the google results are geared toward kids, but there are some good office-appropriate ones out there too. :)

I currently use a jigsort similar to this it's lined with felt which holds the pieces well.

Jigthings JIGSORT 1500 - Jigsaw puzzle case for up to 1,500 pieces from https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002ZHJAYS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9NQRCbYC1MHSG

If making your own and if you are stuck for space, when making the raised edges make them all the way round then make an insert to fit this reasonably tight you can then clamp /strap this in place enabling you to stand your jigsaw on it's side behind the sofa or against a wall out of the way when not in use.

After using jigsaw mats that rolled and having to spend the first 20 minutes fixing it this is a Godsend.

If you review the ad you may get some more hints

PS always buy/build bigger than you need as the challenges just get bigger in size and pieces.

Hope that helps

But if you think 24,000 pieces is for pussies, then maybe try Keith Haring: Double Retrospect - 32000 Pieces Puzzle? Apparently, this puzzle weighs 42 lbs and comes with its own hand truck.

This took me about a year to do because I was only able to work on it for a few hours on the weekends and it was so huge I was doing it on the floor (neck pain, anyone?). During that year I also had to move, which meant that the puzzle was shuffled about despite my efforts, and had to be redone almost entirely on one side. In any case this was incredibly fun and Ravensburger definitely makes quality puzzles. I hope to have enough floor space in my next living situation to get another 9000.

Also if it matters I did the entire puzzle without referencing the image once. The box was always full of pieces face down, so I suppose I'm a masochist LOL!

Full disclosure, there's a micro-print pattern on the back, so I put this together upside down, but I honestly don't know if that made it any easier. I organized the pieces by quadrants and worked from the corners in.

As most of you know, people have been receiving puzzle pieces with their orders of Swamp Pop. I spent most of my day compiling all of the pieces that have been posted to the subreddit, and doing my best to combine them. For reference, I found a post here that said that this was the puzzle that the pieces came from. So I got to work. I got some pieces from /u/ryanj64 here, some pieces from /u/Clovie2923 here, some pieces from /u/MNWNM here, some pieces from /u/Headman70 here, some pieces from /u/slusho6666 here, and some pieces from /u/RecklessLion here. Not all of the pictures are taken from the best angle, or at the highest quality but I tried my best with what I had. The pieces that are off to the side of the picture I couldn’t place within the puzzle due to lack of reference or because they were too low quality. These puzzle pieces are the only ones that have been posted to the subreddit as of right now, but I will be continuing to put the pieces together as more people post them.

If anyone sees any problems with my current placement of the pieces, or can help me place any of the pieces that are off to the side, let me know.

edit: I found a few more pieces from UNF user Clovie4796 and added them to the puzzle here.

I don't know what the difference between Deluxe and Standard is, but Jumbo also do this one which suits puzzles up to 1500 and is cheaper than the one you linked. Also the 1000 one may not fit all 1000 piece puzzles, whilst the 1500 should.

I have a 1500 port a puzzle board (you can see it in my history) and I love it. I really don't think you need to spend more than 50 at the max for a board.

u/FarplaneDragon · 15 pointsr/oddlysatisfying

So, as someone whose done some decently difficult puzzles, it may not be as bad as people think. I'm not saying it's not hard, or not time consuming but a lot of it depends on certain design aspects.

For example, the edges are usually easy for obvious reasons. Looking at the video it looks like the pieces are cut somewhat uniquely, this means that while sorting from color can be a little more difficult, though not impossible since the color probably won't change too much if you always sit in the same spot, you can also sort by size, shape, number of sides with cutouts versus tabs, etc.

Granted you're probably going to be doing a bunch of brute-forcing from there but if you really take the time to organize your pieces it usually isn't as bad as people think. That's coming from someone who finished this one which a lot of people seem to feel is difficult.

Well, I do the edge first. I know that sounds obvious, but I don’t do the edge first with regular puzzles.

Then I sort by shape.

It does take some trial and error, but I start from the corners and work my way in. I look for irregularities in each piece and capitalize on that. How far the notch is in from the “corner” of the piece or where the notches create a unique square corner. How the bumps are strange on a piece. That kind of thing.

This one took me about three hours, on and off. It was actually pretty difficult, but when you stare at the pieces long enough you start to memorize their imperfections. Then when a familiar spot opens up, you remember the piece.

That sounds really convoluted. Apologies.

If you’re interested in a challenge, you should try one of the Krypt puzzles by Ravensburger . They’re easier because the pieces are completely distinct. This one is more difficult because each of the pieces is only the tiniest bit different.

u/Dedonarrival · 2 pointsr/Wishlist

I have a cat. It's all about keeping it covered when you're not working on it. I use one of these now. It's expensive but it's been so awesome, you put the puzzle together on the big tray and zip it all up when you're not working on it. Also helps that I don't have much space and can do them sitting on my bed now.

Essentially get good cardboard and make a $5 version of a Puzzle Caddy. I've used hot glue to make a lip around the edge of the cardboard so that pieces can't slide off the edges.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002ZHJAYS/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1469877507&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=puzzle+caddy&dpPl=1&dpID=41mvqAprJKL&ref=plSrch

For a faster startup, you can simply sort pieces into the lids of old puzzle boxes. You'll still need a good place to build the puzzle, but you at least don't have to spread 1000 pieces around a small table.

There are a few puzzle types that make that claim. Another potential winner of hardest puzzle is the one that's all white, or some that are supermassive.

So let's combine them. 10 000 pieces, all white on both sides, with pieces cut so they fit together on one side, but then the rest of the puzzle doesn't fit together.

I finished a Ravensburger puzzle a month or so ago (Anne Stokes of a white haired girl holding a baby dragon) It was pretty easy and a lot of fun. I have to add another layer of glue to it and get it in a frame as of right now it's home is under my coffee table. I have another puzzle that I need to get done that is 1000 piece that is in the shape of a dragon. My goal is to one day do this 24,000 piece puzzle but as it stand I'd have absolutely no place to do it as my house is not big enough, and even if I did manage to get it done, no wall is big enough to hang it on. It measures 14 feet long and my longest is 12 feet.

u/jackie_mewvier · 2 pointsr/Jigsawpuzzles

Based on this comment I don’t think there’s a full picture:

> Verified Purchase

> I bought this puzzle because my team at work was going through one 1000 piece puzzle a week. This puzzle stopped them dead in their tracks. They managed about 10 connections over the course of a month, after they separated the pieces into quarter puzzles based on the pattern on the back. They eventually gave up and got back to work.

I believe the fourth picture here is the back of the puzzle whereas the second picture is the back of the box. Still better than plain white, but not by much.
