Glad to see that the old CB2 is still in the game. I've had one myself for about 2 years now and it's still going strong, so it's definitely not obsolete (especially not for 90$). It can get slow sometimes, but hey, every laptop does. There is some creaking because the thing is plastic, and it has some dings and scratches because I didn't baby it, but it's a great collage machine.

Extensions and apps:

u/gurnben · 1 pointr/Surface

What's your major/interests? I'm a computer science graduate student, so I use my surface book for note taking (handwritten and typed) and software development with some gaming mixed in (I have the 15 inch). Here are a few of my pointers:

  • OneNote is your friend, but only the microsoft store version. Too much handwriting will crash the classic windows app version and it's clunkier anyway! I discovered this when they deprecated it earlier this year!

  • Remember to put your surface book into "best performance" when you want to game or do some CUDA work, photo editing, etc. Don't forget to take it out of best performance down to recommended when you're not!

  • The battery should last 2 days of school work in my experience, not really a pointer, but a nice observation.

  • Get used to the different usage modes and don't be scared to change from laptop mode to studio mode frequently. Most of my notetaking is in studio mode (screen flipped upward) and most everything else is laptop mode.

  • Since microsoft abandoned their "Reader" app, the next best free option I've found for basic PDF reading is the Adobe Reader Touch app on the Windows Store.

  • Configure your home screen to your liking. It takes time, but once you do, you'll thank yourself whenever you use the start menu or use it as a tablet!

  • The Surface Book 2 is Hammock Friendly. Get outside, it sure helped me to!

  • Watch the community! Everyone here knows of more tools than I do to streamline your work process!

    EDIT
I highly recommend this guy: https://www.amazon.com/Thule-Gauntlet-MacBook-Retina-3203093/dp/B00R8K9J0M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527596150&sr=8-1&keywords=thule+15+inch+macbook+pro+case
It's a MacBook Pro case, I know, but it fits even if its a tiny bit tight! I use it daily and its wonderful!

Yeah the workaround is a PITA but I already did it like, 5 million times today so now I’ve got it memorized. It makes sense why you need it, as the menu key shows you what color you’re trying to use, but grr lol. Yeah I have a 90° cable for my iPhone and love it, but at least right now both my work and home setups work really well with a straight cable. A 90° angle would make things really complicated RE: desk space.

I also immediately flipped on dipswitch 3 and loooove using capslock+IJKL for the arrow keys. So much more logical and easy.

I got this case on Amazon and it’s really great. It’s recommended in the wiki here in this sub, too. It’s cheap and gets the job done - plus the pocket for cables/mouse is an added bonus. The Pok3r has a bit of wiggle room but nothing serious - especially when the case is really only there to prevent shit from getting under the keycaps.

Good luck in your internship!

I'm pretty happy, actually, overall. I also don't really notice any fan noise. I ended up with the i7- and someone suggested that one might not have the fan problem.

I've settled in to "this is my laptop now" pretty quick. Meaning I haven't jumped on my old one to do something because it was more convenient.

Eventually I want to run some stress test type programs on it but haven't yet. All these messages about Lenovo support have me concerned, but so far so good.

I bought a dock so all my accessories and two monitors etc. are all dealt with with one plug, that setup was pretty easy.

I'm not sure how much faster it is than my old computer. Once time I booted Chrome on both and it came up faster on my 8 year old Dell i5. But copying things here and there is definitely faster.

LOVE having the button to boot to BIOS as an actual button on the side. And loving the weight reduction from my older laptop as well.

Had an issue trying to upgrade the bios, it gave an error and I gotta figure it out, but all other updates went through no problem.

Built in webcam seems kinda low quality, but that's not a big deal.

Overall, pretty happy.

Oh- I ended up getting this 14" case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XJBDM98/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Interesting point- yeah, this one is just a hair larger than the actual laptop. I don't know how they take their measurements. I don't really mind. Except until now that you mentioned it, lol....

Edit: I'm not a fan of the keyboard. The keys are too far apart, that will take some getting used to. But I keep it docked most of the time with an external mouse & keyboard, so it's not an all-the-time factor.

u/panZ_ · 1 pointr/mac

You don't give much in terms of use details. I travel internationally frequently for work and adventure and prioritize multi-use and re-packability function over form. Not to say I don't have stylish bags but they are so bulky/padded they often take up a lot of room themselves when combining bags and also less useful if you want to do side excursions like hiking or cycling when traveling for business and can just leave the laptop at a hotel. I'm iterating constantly but my current solution for my 13" MBPr is a simple, neoprene laptop sleeve so I don't need a bespoke laptop backpack. I use an REI Flashpack 22 and an Amazon Basics 15" laptop sleve inside of it. 15" you scoff? I can orient the zipper towards the top of the pack and fold the sleeve to fit my 13" to provide a bit more padding. That way, the sleeve can stay in the bag in portrait orientation when I pull my laptop out. It also gives me the option to use a larger 15" work supplied MBP if I want to haul it. I have a friend that uses this semi-ridgid clam shell sleeve but you have to pull it out of the bag first if you orient the laptop portrait-wise to fit in the bag. If I need to use the bag for other purposes, I just pull out the neoprene and a zipper bag with my cables and adaptors and I have a nice backpack without the extra padding and bulk. If I need to pack it in to a larger duffel, it shrinks to next to nothing and weighs as much.

Basically I'm encouraging you to use whatever backpack/case you like and just toss a laptop sleeve in it.

Hey man. Yes they are hard to find but I got the Thule Gauntlet 3.0 15in sleeve. Really really good hard case sleeve which fits the GS65 just nicely.

I’d only suggest running very minimal programs if you’d like to use the laptop within the sleeve as literally every vent is completely blocked in this thing. Definitely not for gaming within the sleeve!

The best appeal is for transport though. The GS65 deserves the best protection it can get and the Thule is awesome and I highly recommend it!

I have sleeves for my laptops, my Wacom, even for a Thinkpad keyboard and I have various kinds of bags/backpacks. The 13.3-Inch sleeve I use for the keyboard is bigger but can be used with the C302. While I prefer to keep my stuff organized and safe, I realized that it's counterproductive to have a very slim Chromebook and then buy a bulky case or sleeve for transportation. I looked through all the offers on Amazon and other stores and couldn't find a convincing product worth its money. Typical sleeves like the ones I already have make the device twice has thick, special laptop (bag) cases are the same just thicker and less useful (more useless pockets, carrying handles and/or shoulder straps) and then there are the pretentious overpriced felt sleeves. If you are worried about scratches get one of these protectors called "skins" or get crafty and creative yourself. Save the money and additional weight, just get a good bag or backpack from a company that also offers high quality travel, sports or fashion bags and gear instead of random computer bags and other stuff with typical out-of-place looks.

check for physical defect, test all your physical part.

check for the screen, make sure it have minimum light bleeding. check for the front camera, the back cam. check for the infrared cam.

check the keyboard and the trackpad if they are okay, the feel of it and how the trackpad scrollability.

check the pen, the 2 buttons on it if they work, check the pen pressure by written on the screen, check the screen by coloring it using the pen on any of the drawing software.

test your bluetooth (pen pairing should do the trick), check your wifi on both 2.4 and 5ghz.

check location if it detect you correctly, check the brightness of the screen (for dead pixel, light bleed and flickering).

test sound loudness.

---------------

with all that, okay now you can test on software

install coretemp to set active monitoring of cpu temperature.

install both anti virus and anti malware tools of your choice (im using both nod32 and malwarebytes), do not skip this, be it you are tech-wise or not, malware and virus can hide behind virtually any "normal" looking site, it can hide behind a normal looking ads or web page. common sense for computer that run on windows tell you to install despite many "tech savvy" folks tell you not to, because windows is a computer system that hackers want to steal and grab your data from and has the largest community in it compared to other OS. protect yourself.

install gfx tools that check your gfx capability, such as benchmark tool. this can tell you if your gfx is working within the good range.

update your generic intel iris driver to beta so you can switch off that irritating auto dimming function.

additional :

you can install intel cpu utility tool to mod the CPU speed, please read online for more info how to do, the benefit some says is that you can optimised the cpu usage and not heating up every time when you run any program. when the cpu heat up, the fan start, this will cost you some battery life to upkeep it.

alternatively, you can modify the hkey register (read online again for how to), to enable the power settings to allow you to configure cpu state. you can set it to 60% max when doing work etc to save power.

-------------------------------------------------

case wise, i would not advise any case but i would advise you to get skins. skin from decalgirl is good and easy to put on. the reason why no case is because any extra housing will cause your device to have dust scratches. dust will find its way into the case and it WILL scratch no matter how well protected you handle your device. it apply to any thing actually from phones to computers.

you do not need screen protector period.

the pen will have stain if you place it near any dark items. take note of that. it is also very prone to get scratch.

you would want to get a wireless mouse for this, check ebay for those built in battery cheap mouse at 2BGP. it work wonderfully.

I really like the vertical layout sleeve, but I can't tell how bulky it is. At the moment I am looking at some EVA hard case and 360 deg protection cases from Tomtoc instead.

OP. Would something like this be suitable if it were in Pixelbook sizes?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Case-New-Briefcase-Messenger-13-3-Inch/dp/B01LQ2QNBA

The EVA case that I really can't quite tell if a Pixelbook will fit is this one. It looks like it might be about 7mm not wide enough, which might mean it would fit quite snug if there was some give in the bag. The next size up is too much of a jump and I think the PB would end up slopping around like OP says.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078ZCY9HQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A23FWTZ8UX6LWK&psc=1

This 13" Neoprene 360 deg protection case that has a few reviews saying that the Pixelbook fits like a glove is this. But it would have a bit more give on the sides and possibly mold more to the shape

Looking for a hard shell sleeve that I can put an Ipad pro witht he muse case by zugu in. I want to put it in my backpack, but the compartment for my backpack is directly on my back and I am worried about the pressure bending the ipad. The case feels pretty good, but a little added protection would be awesome. My laptop compartment is about 14 inches long by 10 inches wide by 1.5 inches deep. It does seem to have a little give though. Here are the sleeves I am looking at:

Nucawa

Thule Guantlet

Pelican 1070, this is almost perfect, its about 0.2 inches too wide and about 3 inches too long though

Thanks for any advice.

u/drtobiassfunke · 1 pointr/goodyearwelt

I got the baseline surface pro 4 when I got sick of lugging my 15" thinkpad workstation around after work and only planned on using mainly for office and browsing. Even with the core m processor and 4gb of ram it handles most of my daily computing needs like a champ. The only thing that I use on a regular basis that gives it a challenge is solidworks, but that is expected. I bought a good bluetooth mouse to use with it but surprisingly find it more enjoyable to use the pen, especially when on my lap, and rarely touch the mouse. In fact, using a touch screen with a pen on windows is way more enjoyable than i thought it would be and miss not having that combination when using my work computer. I got a sleeve for it because my normal laptop compartment in my bag was way too large and it would slide around and slam into the sides. The only problem I have had is after windows updates, there always seems to be a small bug with chrome but it seems to get fixed quickly or doesn't interfere with my work much. Overall though I am very happy with it and wish I could have gotten this a couple years ago when I was in school.

u/mobilesnow · 2 pointsr/Surface

Look's cool, but might be a bit snug. I've gone through 3 different options for the 15" SB2 from recently, and found one that I'm happy with. My goal was minimal (can use it when putting my SB2 in a backpack), inexpensive, not look hideous, and offered decent protection.

This is the one I'm happiest with (Case Logic PAS-215 MacBook Pro 15" Neoprene Sleeve) . It's snug, but not too tight, with maybe 1/8" of space all around. It also has a stretchy zipper pouch on the front that is big enough for the power adapter. Yet, when using the sleeve without the adapter the empty pouch is unobtrusive to me.

This one is SUPER snug, but you can make it fit even with the pen attached if you stretch it while zipping, and put the hinge at the bottom (away from the zipper). I'm not sure how much strain it causes on the SB2, so I wont be using it anymore.

This one (Case Logic 14" Laptop Sleeve) does NOT fit - you can't get the zipper to close all the way no matter what you do.

u/vbs221 · 2 pointsr/chromeos

I've been using this sleeve I got from Amazon and it works perfectly fine. Yeah due to the 3:2 aspect ratio the fit won't be very tight (the sleeve is a bit wider than the laptop), but it's not bothersome by any means, and it's the best fit I could find.

u/andresvk · 1 pointr/chromeos

I got this one. If you check the Amazon reviews there are a ton of pictures of the Chromebook Pro in it, and it fits perfectly. The sleeve actually seems to be made with 3:2 screens in mind, and it seems to be very protective.

If you're asking for actual plastic cases, I think it will take a little longer until they're available, having in mind that the computer has been out for just over two weeks. Same with vinyl skins.

Edit: I finaly got my Pixelbook and the sleeve. It fits perfectly!! The PB is a bit wider than the Chromebook Pro, and fits even better in the case than it. The only issue is that the PB is too thin (first world problems?) and so the sleeve can feel a bit loose at times. In general it looks very sturdy and I feel like it can take quite a punch. Very much worth it for the price.

u/ScrummieKeeper · 1 pointr/mac

I bought this sleeve for my 2017 MBP and I really like it. It’s thick and padded well yet not bulky to protect my MBP when taking it places. I like the clean look of my MBP not having any extra things on it like a shell or skin or anything like that.

It’s got a nice big zipped pocket for dongles and chargers and stuff too.

u/beley · 1 pointr/thinkpad

I have a Tom Bihn Plot bagthat I use as my laptop bag, but like to have a neoprene or padded sleeve inside that I put my laptop in. After a good bit of research and trying a few sleeves (several of which didn't fit and were returned) I ended up with this Case Logic sleeve. It fits the T480s perfectly and the sleeve/laptop just fits in the Pilot carry-on bag.

u/arabguyistall · 3 pointsr/MatebookXPro

Sweet review!

I got my on wednesday. I just had to undervolt (-0.105v) the CPU and everything is just perfect. I have the i5 version. I also got the Amazon Basic Sleeve yesterday (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B013TGFTDY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It fits great.

u/robertthekillertire · 1 pointr/thinkpad

I have one of these for my X220 with a 9-cell, it's a snug fit but not difficult at all to get in and out. The material is really nice and it feels very well-made, so I have no complaints.

Honestly, any 13.3" MacBook sleeve with any flexibility should be able to fit a 12.5" ThinkPad, since the extra thickness seems to be offset almost exactly by the smaller width.

u/Shadow_Crash · 1 pointr/Surface

I use their cases for my phones all the time and love them. For my SP4 I use the 13in Amazon basics laptop sleeve. its very cheep, fits perfect, and gives decent protection while in my bag.

http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-NC1303152-13-3-Inch-Laptop-Sleeve/dp/B00CD8AF48/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449243534&sr=1-5&keywords=amazon+basics+laptop+sleeve+13

it's not "made for it" but really for $10, it's really been great.

u/fweepa · 1 pointr/chromeos

Excellent advice! I went with this one. Case Logic has always been good to me and the CB2 fits perfectly snug.

u/DeceasedFriend · 1 pointr/macbook

This doesn't have a second compartment but it fits snuggly and I like it. I looked at the one you posted but the dimensions seem like there's an extra inch in there. Something to consider if you haven't found what you're looking for! :)

I got the speck smart shell (link at the bottom) from bestbuy and I really like it. I haven't had any issues with it slipping, it's not bulky, and it gives some good protection from any scratching happening. I'd rate it a 5/7, would buy again. Again the only thing about the machine is that it is so so beautiful without the case. If that is important for you, then maybe try something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Tomtoc-MacBook-Leather-Protective-Accessory/dp/B01HCV206Q/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1493234681&sr=8-6&keywords=ipad+12.9+sleeve

I was a beautiful sleeve! SADLY.......... .6 inches not wide enough. I was hoping there'd be some give since I saw the specs. I gave it to a friend who needed a sleeve for a ZenBook. Hi! As iPad 12.9” owner, I use a 13.3 inch laptop sleeve case (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01D0VM2L0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_shJMDb4Y0V2WT) that I bought in Amazon. It’s pretty comfortable to carry around to me. :)

u/JukeboxJohnny · 1 pointr/chromeos

I purchased this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HCV206Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T2_yI4lzbHF055NS

Has been pretty good so far. Great fit, and the magnetic flap is a huge plus because I didn't want a zipper.

u/SoggyCheez · 1 pointr/computers

All things said that's a pretty nice backpack and I don't think you need to return it. You could try buying a laptop case to add some extra padding and bulk to your computer to keep it from sliding around and getting banged up against the ground. Probably something like this would do the trick and at worst it only costs $10 if you're to lazy to ship it back to Amazon. Of course you're free to look around and see if there's anything that will fit it better or have a thicker material.

Fits perfectly, very well-made with thick material, offers great protection!

I do too carry my mbp in my backpacks laptop compartment but recently I've started using this amazon sleeve because of the dust that gets stuck in those compartments.Personally I'd recommend you use a sleeve(thin and without the padding so you won't feel the added weight) just so your mac remains clean and dust free.

Wrote this on another post. Hope it helps

Originally, I purchased the ProCase 14-15.6 Inch Laptop, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MFEHFKH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It was a little too big for the computer and I didn't like how much you can open the bag. I was always afraid if the bag was slightly open and not fully zipped, the computer would fall out.

I ended up with the Tomtoc 360° Protective Laptop Sleeve, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HCF0ZMI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Fits the computer perfectly and has a bit more protection.

u/bqm11 · 4 pointsr/boostedboards

You should buy a laptop protective case, I commute to work daily on my boosted and have my MacBook in my backpack. One day I fell off my board when I got cut off by a biker and got a dent in my laptop, but luckily it didn't break. After that I bought the protective bag and now I feel safe if I fall.

It seems to fit the XPS15 nicely and isn't bulky.

u/Miffed_Growler · 1 pointr/Surface

Yes I had it for my surface Pro 3, and its too big by a long way, flops around in it, don't like it as its not secure in it at all. I have instead an amCase which fits its perfectly. However I am in the UK, so don't know if there is the same in the US.

u/Rotten_BananaMC · 3 pointsr/Alienware

Rather unfortunately, the Alienware 15 is too big for some 15.6 inch bags, because of the protruding back exhausts. You will have to look for 16-17.3 inch bags. 16 inch is more comfortable.

The closest that I found based on your needs is this on Amazon (US) https://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-LAPS-116-15-16-Inch/dp/B004NY9UXM

This is all that I can find. Comes in Purple and red like you said. I’m pretty sure that someone will suggests something better than this case, but I’ll try to help.

u/ForgottenArm · 1 pointr/chromeos

I just ordered an Acer C720 as well. This is the case I ordered with it. It has good reviews and an extra pouch for your charging cable. Seems like it will fit in a book bag if need be and it has its own handles for just carrying the chromebook by itself.

u/youRFate · 1 pointr/ipad

I use mine with the apple smart keyboard, and when I put it down on the table I make sure not to put it on it's back, so it doesn't scratch. For carrying it around I bought a felt sleeve like thise one.

I think the ipad pro feels amazing without a case and I don't want to spoil that. For example when I'm on the couch reading comics on it I will use it without any case.

However, I don't carry my ipad around outside often, it mostly stays in my home, I will only take it with me on longer trips. If I carried it for example every day to work or university I would probably think about getting a back case.

u/duckrun · 1 pointr/boardgames

I often put one or several board games into a laptop/iPad case. Something like this. They come in different sizes. Personally I have one smaller one and a large one. Most boards can fit in one of the two when folded, and then I add baggies containing the remaining bits and bobs. Keeps everything neat and tidy and somewhat protected without taking up too much space or weight.

u/DoesntFearZeus · 1 pointr/Surface

Neoprene is one of the most common types of sleeves, but the kind of impact your describing the "crumple zones" of a felt style one might be better. This kind leaves a lot of air and material around it that should help more: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P259LFS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not particularly. There are Laptop backpacks that are designed for carrying laptops, and could keep it more secure.

I mean... this one is pretty well reviewed in general and it's cheap. Hell, that + the backpack would be pretty secure.

u/Thisisbhusha · 1 pointr/thinkpad
  1. I use this sleeve. It dits the X1’s length snugly and is thick enough to offer basic protection. I had a bottle leak next to this in my bag one; and the thinkpad was unharmed.

  2. i didnt see any bloatware, just some shortcuts for installing candycrush in the start menu. I deleted those and was good to go. Apart from the lenovo vantage app, there wasnt anythjng else installed.

  3. I’d recommend charging it to 100% and using like a regular laptop. The laptoo might run hot for the first few days, as windows gets used to your usage. I found it helpful to not keep it plugged in as the hardware soon adjusted to my usage habits on battery.

The trick is to cross reference the dimensions of the MacBook Pro with the internal dimensions of any sleeve. You don't necessarily have to get one specifically made for the MacBook. Generally, 14" sleeves seem to work best with the 15" 2016 Pro because of its smaller footprint.

Btw, those are called hard shell cases. I've looked around and can't find any for the Notebook 7 Spin. I even came across a forum where a person with the same laptop said they looked everywhere and couldn't find one.

You can get a thin case like this that'll still fit in your bag. I've actually got a similar one for my laptop, but I just carry it around for school instead of a backpack, since I pretty much only use my laptop while I'm on campus.

Sorry, did not see the second one. Hmm, i think the Aucase one might be a snugger fit. Plus its just a neoprene sleeve so there will be some flexibility to stretch. The Domiso one is 1.6in wider than the X220 so that may be too loose.

Here is my amazon basics 13.3in one. This one's dimensions are pretty close to the Aucase one.

Update-

I bought this case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N590YOT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It fits the laptop well, but is bulkier than the photos. Lots of protection, but more than I need. Also, although it is the correct dimensions at the 4 corners, it seems like it would fit an iPad on top of the laptop in the main compartment, so it feels a little loose when carrying.

Overall, it will work for most I assume, but not want I want. Will look to other Tomtocs since at least it was sized correctly.

u/skybob22 · 2 pointsr/razer

If you want one that is specifically Razer brand, you may need to check their website.

If you're fine with any sleeve, I have the 14" variant of the Amazon Basics Sleeve, which works pretty well for my 14" Blade. And for $11 it's not too expensive.

u/bergred · 3 pointsr/tacticalgear

That's the only color because they intend it for military/tactical use where coyote brown is better than black. That case does nothing special other than work well with their other bags which are also in coyote. You might as well just get a padded black sleeve from Amazon like this one.

u/uncle-jasper · 2 pointsr/dellxps13

u/omgimbackagainwtf · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I bought the Tomtoc 13 inch (not 13-13.3 as it is larger) sleeve off of Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HCV206Q/. The internal dimensions are pretty close to the Pixelbook. There is some space on either side of the Pixelbook when in the sleeve which I hope to make use of when the Pixelbook Pen clip comes out and I clip it to the side of the device. It's also got a magnetic closure which makes me feel more secure that the Pixelbook won't slide out and shatter upon the ground! 😱

Pretty pleased with it. It's not rigid like the Bellroy but it looks decent and you can't argue with $20. Plus, it's got a pocket on the front that I use to store my Kindle and any cables I might need.

u/devilwarier9 · 1 pointr/razer

It's about the same size as the old 14" macbooks. Maybe try to find a case for one of those on Amazon/eBay? I know they don't make 14" macs anymore so that might be hard to find.

In case you're still looking (or in case anyone else stumbles on to this), I'd recommend the Nacuwa Protective Laptop Case Computer Sleeve

I haven't had it too long, but it has really good reviews, is water/shock-proof, and the laptop fits in the case like a glove. It has pockets to store other devices, but whatever you store shouldn't be much thicker than a pen/stylus. Otherwise there's a noticeable bulge in the case, plus there's not really anything to stop the thing you're storing from bumping into the laptop inside the case and breaking that way.

Trust me on this one. I bought it for my 13” MacBook Pro and it’s amazing. It’s very affordable, it includes a little accessory bag in which you can throw the MBP charger and a few more things (i.e.: i also throw my Magic Mouse). It depends on what you plan to do with your computer. If you're going to play games, use photoshop, etc you'll want to prioritize upgrading your ram. For an overall Windows speed boost, get a SSD. Personally I'd go with upgrading to a SSD.

I bought this simple one and like it a lot. Not a perfect fit because it's for a MacBook, but it looks classy and is very simple.

I like the Tenba Messenger DNA 15. The Surface Book fits well in the padded laptop area. I also use the Amazon Basics 13.3 Laptop Sleeve

u/SuitableEarth · 1 pointr/thinkpad

Hi I also have a X1C7 and I purchased this laptop sleeve for it. I go it because the display seemed a little flexible to keep it from bending in my backpack. Aswell to keep it from getting scratches.

It is a very rugged case and has so far kept my laptop scratch free.

I got this one for my c302 in 13" size. They have smaller options that may fit the bill for you. It's simple and secure. I use it all of the time as I use my Chromebook for teaching and my business. It moves everywhere with me.

I picked up a 13" AmazonBasics sleeve. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013TGFTDY/

It's a bit bigger than it needs to be, but has a front pocket where I stash the pencil and a cleaning cloth. Back pockets are good for dongles/adapters. And it's only $12.

So a few days ago I took a shot at trying a few of the 'cheap' $30 shoulder bags on Amazon. I ordered a bunch and this was the one that remained after a few hours of testing all of them. It holds absolutely everything despite being such a small bag (13.9" Height, 10.5" Width, 4.1" Depth). The pockets make the most sense when compared to competitors. Here is my carry list with some updates that show its full versatility (especially as a personal item when flying). Also, bag link here.

I just got this one. Fits perfect.

u/expl0dingz · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Personally I use this $15 soft case, its not as perfectly snug as I expected it to be - it has some additional space at the end and at the top (they do have a pocket up top so I put the cable in there, which fills up some space). With this, I usually dump my keyboard in the main section of my backpack. I don't carry more than 2 books around though. Feels safe to me.

Here's a pic when the keyboard is all the way to the end.

Here's a pic of where the keyboard "ends" when the sleeve is closed

I was looking for a small, thin case/sleeve to protect the CBP when I carry it in my backpack and got this Tomtoc. It fits very snug without the side-to-side play. The small inner flap also protects it from the zipper.

u/BuilderBrother · 2 pointsr/thinkpad

Although I haven't personally used one, since I don't own a X1, I have heard nothing but good things about the X1 Ultra Sleeve. Leather, magnetic flap, and lightweight, perfect for a X1. You can get it for $42 on with corporate perks with the code NJ*CORP

However if you want something cheaper, the amazon 14" sleeve should suffice, although there might be too much wiggle room.

However any slim 14" (or a really loose 13.3" sleeve), should suffice.

Grifiti Chiton, I have one, and works very nice for my KBP V60.

I've got the 15" version of this one https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01HCV206Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

Not an issue at all placing my laptop on the sleeve because of how the magnets are positioned. I've been using it for 3 weeks without any issues at all. Opening and closing it is very slick with the magnets and the sleeve itself is very nice quality.

From what I've read, any 14" laptop sleeve will work. FWIW I bought [this one] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XJBDM98/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), I heard the Amazonbasics sleeve is good too.

I bought this before I got the Razer Armor case. I'd really recommend this if you're looking for a sleeve for your blade.

I used this, and it fits perfect. Enough for just the x1, but can toss in the slim PS and cable, Ethernet dongle, or even my iPad Pro 10.5. Stretchy material, probably neoprene.

The short side fits perfect. The long side is slightly longer than the surface book. It's not really long enough that it shakes around in it or anything. Gives enough room to put the pen there, but I usually don't keep the pen attached there because it falls off when I pull the sb out.

> I'm worried that it might not be able to handle everyday roughness. Like dropping my backpack when I get home from class. Do you think it should be okay or would I have to be extra careful?

You should always be extra careful, but just in case, get a sleeve for it. I have this one to carry around in my backpack. I haven't had to test it, but it seems to provide decent protection around the edges. If you're more worried, there are harder cases you can get that are a bit more expensive, but provide much better protection.

> Is it really that bad? Typing on a Logitech G110 right now

I may just be biased against laptop keyboards since I prefer higher profile keys. They keys on this are just kind of flat and don't have a lot of travel distance to them. Really, I'm just comparing it to my other keyboards, which probably isn't fair. Typing on it is fine. It does the job, but the keys still aren't the same quality as a few other laptops I've used. They seem a little thinner than Thinkpads. If you exclusively type on your G110, this may not feel great, but if you're used to chiclet laptop keyboards, you may not notice a difference.

> I could literally see myself while I was using it unless I jacked up the brightness. Does this happen with the Z40?

This happened to me yesterday when I was typing something with a window behind me. It does happen with the screen. But then I turned the brightness up and didn't notice it anymore. You'll just have to be aware of your surroundings.

u/kinasaw · 1 pointr/macbookpro

I got the same keyboard cover, but I only use it when the lid is open. I am afraid that it might touch the screen when the lid is closed (I made my own simple test and concluded that it is safer to not have anything between the screen and the keyboard when the lid is closed)

I got this tomtoc sleeve. I like it so far.

I got a dbrand skin for scratch protection. top and bottom only, no palm rest, no trackpad.

No screen protector, because again I see to it that nothing is in between the screen and the keyboard.

I use the Thule Gauntlet 3.0 Case for my 2019 15” MBP, and although it’s bulky compared to a sleeve, I can put it in my backpack and toss it around freely with no fear of damage.

In addition, I have an Incase Textured Hardshell Case in Woolenex on my MBP. It prevents it from scratches, dings, and looks pretty nice too.
