Welcome to OYS!

>Lifting: I'm new to this and don't know what I'm doing. I've found a gym, though, and need to make some time in my schedule. I'm thinking get up early and go first thing in the morning.

I would suggest downloading the free StrongLifts app. Then to to the Stronglifts website and check out the guides posted there, as well as the videos that are there. This will help answer any questions you have, and give you some demonstrations to help you start out with good form.

>I'm adding more eggs and beans for protein. I'm not sure if it'll raise T but it's worth a shot.

I think it will help, eggs are awesome for T production and beans are a good source of protein as well. If you're looking for additional help through supplementation, check out Pine Pollen Tincture, I take this twice a day, 5 days on / 2 days off. Let me tell you, I can FEEL the difference when I take this stuff, it works! Also, try adding Vitamin D3, boron, and Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols), these are proven to help raise T as well.

>Porn/alcohol/drug/whatever: A bit of ebb and flow. After years of NoFap and PornFree, that's down to almost zero.

This is awesome!

>Alcohol is another story. I have trouble drinking in moderation, but have made huge improvements when not using it for coping.

This is a tough one, but it can be overcome as well. Do you find there are certain times of the day/night that you are tempted to use? Or certain situations where it is a temptation? I would start there and think about creating different habits that don't put you in that position to begin with.

>Fashion sense: improving. I wear collared shirts with khakis a lot of the time now. I look better and feel a lot more confident. I found some really helpful stuff on The Art of Manliness regarding how to choose and wear this stuff; I think I look a lot less ridiculous now!

When you feel confident, you exude confidence and others can sense it. Do you have a link to the things you read on AoM? I would love to check that out!

>Agree & Amplify: Pretty good! Amused mastery: Not mastered, but improving!

Good.

>Negative inquiry: don't know this one.

This is from When I Say No, I Feel Guilty (WISNIFG). This book is one of the most helpful for handling confrontations with others in a productive way, I highly recommend it.

>I went to the bar with some coworkers last weekend and ended up making out with a girl there, so I can tell my technique has improved. I'm not sure how well this will work on serious Christian girls.

Well, you're not going to find serious Christian girls in a bar, for sure. If that's what you're looking for, you have to set the standard by being a serious Christian guy first. Are you?

>Evangelism: 0/10, have done none

>Mission solidified: Far from it, but I've got a huge career change up ahead. God will guide me onto the path on which I'll learn my mission.

These two things stood out to me. Is evangelism not part of your mission? I would think about this for a while, because every Christian is called to share the Gospel.

>Discipling: That's a 2-way nope

Evangelism comes before discipleship, so this is no surprise. Do you have any prospects for finding a mentor for yourself?

>Parts of the Bible I'm not understanding: I opened to the book of Zechariah this weekend and just couldn't figure out why it exists

From Studylight: Zechariah speaks more of the city of Jerusalem. Besides he is the only post-exile prophet to give a detailed overview on the history of God's people and the nations connected with Jerusalem. He describes the rejection of the Messiah by His earthly people Israel and their repentance and acknowledgment of the Messiah who will appear to establish His reign of peace. In this Zechariah is very similar to Daniel the prophet. Zechariah has also been compared to Isaiah "the evangelist among the prophets". The keynote of his message is the unchanging love of God and His care for His earthly people. He will preserve them from all dangers coming from the world's powers and keep them for His kingdom on earth.

>I don't understand how one can be "meek" and also be alpha.

This set of comments helped me get some good perspective on this.

>Church: I've visited quite a few churches this year. They've said some things that didn't sit well with me, so each time I've taken my Bible and read up on that stuff. Turns out that my concerns were grounded each time. I'm still looking for a church that teaches the Bible without spinning it beyond recognition.

Good on you for using the Bible as a discernment tool here; too many people only go by how they feel. God will lead you to the right church in His timing, keep looking in the meantime and don't give up.

>I'm struggling to get in the gym

What's the hardest exercise at the gym? Front door pulls. Make it a habit, and soon you'll feel weird when you don't go.

>and to afford healthy food

Do the best you can for now, sounds like things will be changing soon with your job. I'll bet things will work out better when that happens.

>I started in a pretty bad place and sometimes it feels like I'm not going anywhere, but objectively comparing my frame/health/looks/career makes the improvement obvious. Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord indeed, that's awesome to hear, brother!

Not a prob! Always happy to help.

The ACV bar's shipping is a bit pricey, but it helps to get several of them at once to make it cheaper. It also helps if you don't shampoo daily, lol. If you haven't yet, I'd also check out Worm's thread on HLT if you want up-to-date assessments on Zix, as well as his formula.

I understand your hesitation with LLLT. There's a lot of controversy surrounding it and I definitely wouldn't touch the combs with a 20-foot pole. The helmets, however, have been put through the ringer many times and I do feel like a good majority of them can definitely help. Again, I'd look through the scientific studies and testimonials rather than just online anecdotes (including my own!) if you want a more professional breakdown on them.

Here's the taurine I currently use and the curcumin I used before trying a more thorough one with resveratrol that ended up being more expensive and hurt my interest quite a bit, lol. I'll make it clear that I'm not a shill! I'm just sharing what I've found worked decently for me without massively raping my wallet. =)

I have faith we'll get an update and solid pics. This looks to be the most promising treatment we've got so far that doesn't involve surgery or "just 5 more years of waiting." On the offhand chance we don't, I'll almost certainly be getting on Super Minox. We gotta hold that line something fierce!

No its injectables.

Honestly your levels aren't bad. They were higher than mine.

Yeah Natures bounty makes good stuff.... Not trying to be graphic but I wake up with raging hardons with it. I am horny like my teenager years... refractory period is short too.

You can also look into L-arginine for NO2 boosting... It'll make things a bit harder too.

Ginseng is amazing also. Just experiment with what you can afford.

This is my honest stack: Fish oil, Horny Goat weed with Maca, Nature's bounty Men's Multi Pack (http://www.naturesbounty.com/m/product.aspx?q=051756), creatine when I can afford it (5 g's a day... lax on the weekends)

Ginseng is good.

__

I took this for awhile: http://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Extreme-Multivitamin-Softgels/dp/B00C4A7IAO

_____

It was wonderful. its more convenient and cheaper on me to use my current stack because my company I work for basically carries all that stuff (minus the creatine) But I absolutely loved that Multi.

OH and for the love of God get yourself a digital scale that can do grams with a Tare function (it basically will Zero itself out after you but the scoop in it) and like a 20CC scoop you can get them online for like 2 bucks and I only paid $11 with shipping for my scale. It doesn't have to be big, look for "pocket scales" and just use a spoon to put it in the scoop.. Or something like this might work..

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Digital-Measuring-Ingredients-Kitchen/dp/B0756CT9XL&ved=2ahUKEwjdp4Hp-8TjAhVIgp4KHat9AJ0QFjABegQIBxAB&usg=AOvVaw0lrCQJy1hDnOOQxbQJmzLd

And for the agmatine.. You wants caps sooooo....

Nutricost Agmatine Sulfate... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07993859K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Best of luck!

> I will be contacting the Leeds police department in the UK to discuss it with them. UK libel and defamation laws are a lot more strict, and him using his real personal Facebook page makes it pretty easy to link.

/u/MisterYouAreSoDumb you know i love you (and that sexy pork pie hat) and you know exactly who i am in RL but please think twice on this.

Few reasons:

  1. The UK has clamped down on "libel tourism" making it much harder for foreign nationals to bring cases in the UK.

  2. Facebook's servers are likely in the U.S so you get into a jurisdiction clusterfuck where you would have to get UK police to act against Facebooks EU office (which is probably in Ireland anyhow due to tax laws) only to be told it's hosted on a U.S server and therefore first ammendment.

  3. Police really in the UK really don't act on this sort of thing unless they have to and computer based cases are backlogged. Even then Crown Prosecution Services are likely to kick it out as "not in the public's interest. I have a couple of friends in two different police forces and will run it by them but likely you will be given a run a round and then told "nah"

  4. PBS (possibly) makes your products illegal. If you were a licensed pharma company then it might be different. Combine with 2 & 3 and CPS are almost certain to reject any criminal case the police put forward.

  5. You can still go civil in the UK but you would need to prove it effected the business.

  6. Streisand Effect.

  7. He said he "felt like" in the UK even under criminal libel this is not strong enough. A bit like ii could post to Red Bull and say it felt like my heart was about to explode.

Honestly the guy and his stack are a moron. You would be better off complaining to MHRA for an unlicensed medical product as thier Amazon page is making medical claims:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brainpower-Concentration-Scientifically-Multivitamin-Entrepreneurs/dp/B01ET2DDAI

    Specifically:

    "
    What are the effects?

    •Enhanced memory and information retention
    •Increased alertness and concentration levels
•Boosted energy levels and improved mood "

Also the Advertising Stands Agency (False advertising). Also complain to Amazon UK for the same reason as they pull stuff in a heartbeat and as they are shipping from Prime they have sent a load to Amazon's warehouse. So they will be out $$$ when blocked.

They fly under PBS (Just) but you can also sic local health inspectors on them although it looks like it might be something subcontracted.

The Amazon page also misspells ingrediants and if you tip Amazon off both to the product and them fake reviewing you they will likely look at there feedback which is also liikely faked. Amazon HATE that and will permaban people for much less. MHRA will investigate false claims, they love going after supplement companies.

Hope you can see where i'm coming from here, not trying to be critical of you but i think you have a better course of action then libel.

I feel like I am the same as you. Citalopram makes me feel amazing for actually like 3 days once I start taking it, it is incredible! Then the happiness goes away and my mood kind of crashes a little (not like bipolar, at least I hope not...). The gradual and stable happiness comes very slowly over time, at like week 3 I start to notice that my mood is getting consistently better. By week 6 I feel awesome. I know this because I was on it before, went off after 5 months, and am now back on it 2 years later.

I'm curious if it is working for you now that it is a month or more later though. Seriously, I wish the initial feeling would last forever, but I think it is just a rapid reduction in anxiety that your body quickly adapts to (and in my case my body overcompensates for that anxiety reduction and makes it worse 4 days later, but it slowly goes away).

If you want to increase the effectiveness, try this https://www.amazon.com/Irwin-Naturals-Sunny-Mood-Count/dp/B009RV7ORK I took this and it greatly increased the serotonin feelings. However, any change in these serotonin meds will take another 6 weeks to fully work once again, but it's easier because you should already be feeling better from whatever dose you are on.

u/Sometimes_Lies · 1 pointr/Nootropics

> I imagined myself painstakingly measuring it into each capsule.

I kind of do something like that sometimes, though I just wrap it in thin paper and swallow it before the whole mess comes loose. It's...probably not the best solution, to be totally honest.

If you want to experiment on a budget, I'd strongly recommend theanine+caffeine as a base. It's very inexpensive and works pretty well, though caffeine tolerance is annoying. Also, while it's more for anxiety than energy, I really enjoy Ashwagandha.

Oddly, caffeine and Ashwagandha are two of the few things I'd recommend buying in pill form. Caffeine because it tastes awful and is so cheap (like $5 on Amazon for 100 pills), and Ashwagandha because I happen to rather like this specific brand which is both high quality and quite affordable.

Right now I'm trying to write a romance, actually. New for me, though I'm enjoying it more than I would've expected. I just need to get a firm grasp on the subgenre, because it seems to be slipping away from me a little bit.

edit: Also, one other recommendation: Melatonin. It's dirt cheap and getting a good night's sleep helps with energy the next day. Melatonin kind of has a bad rap because most bottles of it have like 3-10mg doses, which is too much. Even the bottle I linked is 1mg, so I'd recommend cutting them in half.

edit2: So many typoes. Sorry. I basically didn't sleep last night.

If you're interested in some supplements to try to help, I have my husband taking FertilAid for Men, MotilityBoost, fish oil, and L-Carnitine. He also smokes quite a bit - not heavily - but definitely enough for it to be a cause for concern from me at least. So I've been pushing him to take other measures to be as healthy as possible. Good luck. Hopefully your next test will give you better results!

u/JesusLice · 4 pointsr/vegan

Long time body builder, 4 year vegan here. I've tried them all from cheap bulk pea and soy to expensive Vega brand, but the best I have ever tasted (and happens to be one of the top 5 for nutrition) is Lifetime's Life basics Vanilla. My favorite part is that it contains ground up chia seeds rich in omegas which really thicken up your shakes (chia seeds bloat in water) It's a must try.

Zinc Orotate - this is an aromatase inhibitor, which prevents the production of estrogen ( http://amzn.com/B004UAPG46 )

Ultimate Ascorbate C - not sure of the benefits of this particular one, but it's more than just vitamin C ( http://amzn.com/B00016AOZE )

Vitamin E - "use this if you're gonna have a lot of fat oxidizing in your blood" - Charls ( http://amzn.com/B0014H1P5C )

Fish Oil - gotta have this if you wanna shoot big loads. i mean, come on ( http://amzn.com/B002CQU564 )

Source Naturals Men's Multivitamin - this is the best multivitamin on the market in my opinion. i'm so happy charls introduced it to me. most vitamins aren't bioavailable for shit, so you aren't actually absorbing most of the stuff you're ingesting. however, this formula is crafted to be the most bioavailable multivitamin ever. good shit. if you don't get any of the other stuff, GET THIS. ( http://amzn.com/B001B4N87G )

Activated Charcoal - This helps whiten your teeth. Explains why Charls has such good teeth. ( http://amzn.com/B00016WU2E )

Charls introduced all of these in the Fallout 4 stream. He didn't go into much detail as to when he takes them. Although, he did say that he takes 2 fish oil gels a day. Just look some of this stuff up and see what works for you. Source Naturals Multi (3x a day) and Fish Oil (2x a day) is what works for me.

u/Orchidsandtears · 1 pointr/CautiousBB

I hear you! Honestly, I had a massive freakout when I first read about it, because I had a miscarriage in March and it was awful.

It's hard for a family doctor to stay up-to-date on something like this, since the information we have is split between "out of date" and "cutting edge". So I get why most docs don't know what to do with MTHFR, I'm just lucky to have a couple on my team who really get it.

Many people with your specific MTHFR variant do get the shots. (You're "compound heterozygous", ie your body REALLY hates folic acid!) My midwife recommended baby aspirin, and that's another very normal, safe treatment.

But methylated vitamins are completely safe and over-the-counter. They're actually the best choice for everyone, even though not everyone needs them like you and I do. You may want to take an extra B vitamin on top of the prenatal; I switch between these two depending on whether I can handle swallowing pills or need a topical cream.

BTW, you'll want to get your thyroid checked. Just ask your doctor.

Hang in there! Don't feel guilty, okay? You're gonna be just fine.

u/nathalierachael · 2 pointsr/TryingForABaby

Negative at 12DPO. Considering myself officially out. I told my GI doc I would repeat the 30 day herbal treatment for SIBO if I wasn’t pregnant this cycle, so I started it today. Reeeeaaally hoping yo get my gut fixed this month.

The treatment is 6 of these capsules a day. I’ve done the treatment before; it was effective with no side effects. Problem is, we don’t know if ANY of the ingredients are safe for pregnancy or TTC.

My OB tried to look up all the herbs and said “there isn’t any data on them, so we can’t say they are safe one way or the other.” So here is my question: Is it even safe to NTNP this cycle? If I finish the course before implantation (should it occur) would it be okay? I honestly believe it’s unlikely I would conceive so my instinct was just to do the course, NTNP, get back to trying in earnest with timed intercourses next cycle.

I know there’s no clear answer but just looking for input from you all. Thanks :)

I've been using Opti-Women multis, always heard great things about them and they work well for me. My SO takes Opti-Men, he loves them too.

I've also been doing epsom salt foot baths to help bring my magnesium back up, since it's cheaper and much more effective than a supplement.

u/norepinephrinex · 2 pointsr/Nootropics

I always liked the idea of taking lecithin for the full spectrum of phospholipids, but disappointingly, didn't find it gave me the benefits that people report with cholinergics and PS. On the other hand, even standard doses of CDP seem to bring on a rapid, temporary depression.

Fortunately, I've had luck with this guy (http://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Enhancers-Vegetable-Capsules/dp/B00309ZDHS). Seems to clear my head in the morning and stacks well with DHA+uridine. Those, along with tyrosine, caffeine and theanine form a pretty reliable base stack IMO.

u/Debonaire_Death · 1 pointr/Nootropics

Indeed. Chloline deficiency can cause headaches.

I took these when I was on SEMAX and never once suffered a headache. I think it's a great product. The GPC gives me the cholinergic boost I need and meanwhile the phosphatidylserine keeps cortisol levels from getting out of hand.

I also enjoyed adding ALCAR and B12 to my diet, but I hadn't thought about how those may have helped. ALCAR for sure would provide you with a good supply of acetic acid for the acetylation process.

THIS STUFF --> http://www.amazon.com/Garden-Life-Perfect-Organic-Energizer/dp/B00FB1S92Y/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1405662586&sr=8-6&keywords=perfect+food+raw+organic

I PROMISE you. I started taking it about 3 weeks and been off coffee ever since, yet I feel more focused and more energized much longer in the day.

As a bonus, it's got a TON of organic fruits, veggies, plants, herbs, etc.

u/betrion · 2 pointsr/HumanMicrobiome

Lots of info and personal experience. Thank you for sharing - things like this come across as helpful. Just reading about someone's process keeps one with arriving with his own.

Since you are linking amzn.com I'll assume you're in US, in which case you can give Colostrum LD a go. I keep recommending it but I have no affiliation (I'm actually in EU so it's much more complicated to get).
Anyway they give out free sample that's enough for a week if one pays for shipping price of $7 within US. You can check it and read more about it here.

Edit: as for methylation, this seem to work very well for most people:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00O5AHC4S/

I haven't tried it myself although I did genetics and have methylation as a challenge. I do give myself 1ml of B12 (methylcobalmin) when I feel it's needed though.

Whey protein is going to be the cheapest (BodyFortress at wal-mart is only like 15 bucks), BUT you did say you want to transition from ova-lacto to vegan, so unless you want to spend a ton more, be prepared to sacrifice taste in your protein.

Now personally, I use this and this together (since neither are complete proteins by themselves). They lasted me close to 1 1/2 - 2 months, but I'd be lying if I said it tasted good.

Checking amazon, I found Life's Basics on sale for about $15. I've used it before, and it's awesome.

u/JMAAB · 2 pointsr/keto

Promasil Good protein, low carb, tastes great. I add HWC for some fat and it is awesome.

u/goldstartup · 3 pointsr/Nootropics

This product strikes me as desperate. It's like a GoogleScholar search cobbled into a dubious product. (3kmg in 2 caps? No way.)

Amazon sales page claims: "The UK's #1 NEW BEST, STRONGEST AND MOST TRUSTED Nootropic Supplement for FOCUS, MEMORY AND CONCENTRATION." mmmmyeah, that's believable.

The emails and threats are pathetic, and that's great that you documented them. They also claim GMP- yeah, that's believable too.

u/Jim_Nightshade · 2 pointsr/kratom

Cap them yourself

Here's a good filler:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005SSNMZO/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1395322267&sr=8-3&pi=SX200_QL40

It does 50 at a time, I can fill 200 / hr while watching tv. You may be able to get one cheaper than this, I got mine at a local herb store. I have this one and "the Capsule Machine", the machine sucks compared to the Cap-m-quick.

Go with vegetarian caps since they're easier on the stomach:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0013OW4TW?vs=1

Also Maeng Da is stimulating IIRC, maybe try Red Thai. Coastal Kratom has some good RVT.

u/Didalectic · 1 pointr/dpdr

Dude, you got to get out of whatever cycle you are in right now. You don't want this to turn into a full-week alcohol addiction. If you still use so much alcohol despite the consequences, then it's clear you can't do it alone. Get help, professional or not.

If you haven't already tried it, then I suggest getting some Ashwagandha from NOW Foods (2.5% withanolides) or Jarrow Formulas (KSM-66). I've had success with the NOW foods one, but I've heard the Jarrow Formulas one is better.

Protein and creatine are where you'll see the biggest benefit. I personally don't see the downside to a solid multi-vitamin as well. I take three of these with daily with food: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C4A7IAO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Context is king.

Quote from the above study.

>A search using 5 Internet search engines and the search terms Ayurveda and Ayurvedic medicine identified 25 Web sites offering traditional Ayurvedic herbs, formulas, or ingredients commonly used in Ayurveda, indicated for oral use, and available for sale.

The near decade old study looked solely at Ayurveda websites not mainstream brands. This is not a study of 20% of all ashwagandha sold in the US moreso companies who just sell Indian herbs which potentially raises red flags on that alone.

KSM-66 was the brand used in the Testosterone study and the company is considered to have high quality standards.

http://www.ksm66ashwagandhaa.com/quality_control.html

Their material is in many brands such as;

Jarrow Formulas, LEF, Nootropic Depot, Pure Nootropics, Vitacost, Swanson, Doctor's Best, etc. As long as you buy any of these there should be no concern over metal content since the material is the same. No different than buying Suntheanine.

Best value seems to be Jarrow on amazon $11.56 for 300 mg 120 capsules so great choice OP.

So, I myself have recently had issues with Acid reflux.

I was under a lot of stress about three months ago, which is when my symptoms began to manifest.

In terms of "natural" medicines, stuff you can't buy from common drug stores, I've had a lot of luck with something
I read about, right here on reddit:

Mastic Gum!

I take two or four, depending on the severity of reflux, about half an hour before every meal, and I can say that it manages to treat, abate my symptoms.

I'm not saying this will cure him, i'm just telling you what is working for me, a stranger on the internet.

Good luck.

u/pompousandfaggy · 1 pointr/carnivore

HP likes an acidic environment. They are smart. When the environment is not to their liking there will dig holes in the gut and hide in them. They come out when it is safe. The holes cause a leaky gut which allows for a whole host of problems.

The baking soda tricks them into thinking its a good time to come out. The mastic gum kills them. Its a way to keep HP in check.

I use this one. It seemed stronger than others I bought...basing off the fact that when I would burp it would taste like the actual gums I would use. Both seemed to help.

I would just fill empty gel caps with basic non AL baking soda.

  • Precooked quinoa seasoned with dried peppers + chicken stock/lemon juice (is eaten at room temperature)

  • Almonds/pistachio/macadamia/brazil nuts + hemp seed

  • Canned Tuna/Chicken and Dried Beef/Bison/Lamb/Camel/Salmon and Sausage/genoa/prosciotto

  • Broccoli lasts forever, cauliflower, carrots, hummus, beans, avocado

  • Jams/Preserves/Chutney/Conserve/Fruit Butter/Marmalade and Dried Fruit

  • Peanut Butter/Almond Butter/Nutella

  • Oats

  • Olive Oil

Many of these are all things which should last in warm weather. I added olive oil, because if you are able to drink it, 4oz has 1000 calories. You could replace fresh fruit with my Preserves/Marmalade category, or the dried variety. Instead of bread, coat the Peanutbutter/nutella onto granola bars.

You can make home-made granola and granola bars with TONS of great stuff, then everything is mixed into one bar/bag. Get creative:

  • maple syrup, honey, agave, rice sugar, brown sugar, wheat germ, wheat bran, oat bran, flax meal, whole and powdered nuts (walnut, cashew, pecan, pine, almonds, pistachio, macadamia, brazil), seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, sesame, flax), dried fruit (pineapple, papaya, apricot, mango, apple, kiwi, guava, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, boysenberry, cranberry, blueberry infused cranberry, raisin, golden raisin, figs, cherries), cereal (rice crispies, crushed mini wheats), coconut, chocolate, cinnamon, ancho chili pepper, salt, vanilla, butter, peanut butter, nutella, coconut butter, milk, water.

I would take one of these (bone+multivitamin) morning and night (daily "dose" is four pills, so you would still only be taking half what they want you to) if you are worried about getting vitamins and minerals.

Purely anecdotal, but I've been taking it daily (KSM-66, 900mg) for around seven months now and I've definitely noticed a reduction in everyday anxiety.

It hasn't done much for my social anxiety, but that nagging voice, that "WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS?!" voice that plagued me throughout the day, has been severely reduced, which is nice.
