Here's the breakdown as I see it:

Barring getting a blacksmith to make you you the real deal for thousands and thousands of dollars, the best you could do would be to buy this guy's handmade replicas: He doesn't always have ebay auctions up though, and some times his work will turn up for sale elsewhere.

EDIT: Aaron of Fiberglass Blades is stopping production so that he can move on to bigger and better things. There will be a few auctions for what remains of his inventory this year, but don't expect to pay less than $1000 a piece for each item.

If you are looking for the cheaper mass produced kinds, there are still several to pick from, and even then you need to decide if what you want is more for display or if you actually intend to carry it. None of these are combat safe in any way, but some still are better than others.

A disclaimer about these links: all of these can be found from multiple sellers at multiple prices, so do your shopping! I'm using amazon for picture purposes.

The best one for display in my opinion is this one here. The hilt and blade look fantastic, and it comes with a plaque. It is not good for swinging though; it is very heavy and is most likely not full tang, aka the blade does not continue into the hilt. That said, it is a beautiful piece for the price, and I have one on my wall. It seems to be based off of a mixture of the Link to the Past and Twilight Princess Master Sword designs, as it has barbs, but is not blue in color. There are newer versions of this same sword modeled after the blue master sword and a Dark Link Variant, but I avoided the former because I don't like how the entire handle is one shade of blue. That's your call.

Next up is this one, which is probably the most common. The blade is long, but does not have that awesome shape that the above one does. In my opinion, it does not look as much like the master sword as it ought. The upside to this though it that the sheathe is the best one going in terms of mass produced pieces. I am cosplaying as link at Otakon this weekend, and will be using the sheathe from this sword, attached to this belt that was basically made for this model.

The sword I will be using is this one. I know what you are thinking. Foam? Really? Yes. This is a relatively new product and is of far better quality than I could have expected or even hoped for. It is cosplay safe, light, and the best shape/size/detail/quality replica I have found for the price. if you plan on carrying one without getting arrested, this is the one.

There is another master sword replica out there that you need should watch out for. this one looks very similar to the second one above, but you will notice the blade looks mildly different in the photos. In truth, this one is far smaller than the above one, and is also sharp as hell. Can not recommend. Check the details like blade length and width before buying.

As for the shields, there are thankfully fewer options. As mentioned above, Fiberglassblades makes an amazing one, but it's super expensive. I'd like to own his shield and sword one day, but it will not be anytime soon.

Your mass produced choices as far as I can see are this one or this one

I have the first one, and it is a decent replica for the price. It is set to be held in your left hand, though you can remove the handle, so I expect you could modify it for more accurate use. It is also ready to be hung on a wall, and looks quite nice while doing so. Older models are more flat, while newer models are more curved like traditional shields (unless mine is just warped.) The Downsides are that the strap and handle are rather flimsy. I have reinforced the one I'm using this weekend by making my own leather strap and super gluing the handle in place. This will sadly prevent me from using this shield as a display, but I have an older model for that.

As for the second one, it looks to be a newer version of an earlier and different model. I don't have experience with it, but from what I can tell it seems to be a high quality replica. That said, the model I believe it is based on was not able to be hung on a wall, had the triforce crooked, had the bird painted on and not embossed, and could only be used in your right hand. Perhaps this is why they are pushing this new version. If you get this one, please let me know how it is, because I must say it looks good from the photos.

EDIT: Another user has reported to me that this model still has the issues I had with the earlier version. Neither the Crimson Loftwing nor the Triforce are guaranteed to be accurately placed. This may vary from shield to shield, so buyer beware.

PHEW! Hope that helps!

Brown leather cap toe Oxfords (that's the name for this type of shoe with "closed lacing") such as the Allen Edmonds Fifth Avenue are an iconic shoe and every Men's dress shoe maker has at least one of those in their line.

I agree that the Fifth Avenue is a classic design that will likely never go out of style and Allen Edmonds are good quality at the under-$500 price point.

Some cautionary notes. First, no shoe is ever BIFL, the most that you can hope for if you wear them regularly is that you will get a few years of wear, then a resole, then a couple more years of wear, then a resole. After that, the uppers are likely going to be shot and it will be time to get a new pair. Still, that's going to be a pretty good return on your initial investment.

Second, AE's quality has fallen off considerably over the last few years and your odds of receiving a new pair from the factory with some quality control issues are not small. Examine the shoes closely under good light for defects when you receive them, paying particular attention to the stitching, the inner and outer leather and the consistency of the color. AE is good about replacement with free shipping both ways, but it sure is a pain to ship shoes back and forth to Port Washington, Wisconsin.

Three, the Fifth Avenues are made on AE's 65 last (the last is the wooden form the shoe is shaped and constructed on), which is a very traditional American style silhouette. They're going to look bulbous and round if you're used to sleeker Italian looking shoes. There's also the possibility that the last will not be a good match for your foot and you will have to look at some other model or manufacturer. Johnston & Murphy Aldrich II Cap Toes will be slightly less expensive though most agree the quality is below AE. Twice a year, Brooks Brothers runs a 30% off sale applicable to shoes and you can sometimes pick up their Peal & Co. Medallion Captoes for a little over $450. Those shoes, made by Crockett & Jones in the UK are on an entirely different level of quality and style.

Fourth, the longevity of any pair of shoes is going to be exponentially improved with at least a moderate level of care. That means cedar shoe trees in the shoes when your feet are not in them. You will also need to do applications of a decent leather conditioner every few months, and yes, polishing every now and then with a cream polish. It would be ideal to follow with a wax polish to provide a protective layer but it is not mandatory. Always use a shoe horn to put the shoes on to avoid breaking the backs (called the "counter") of the shoes.

Fifth, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all men's dress shoes are meant to be alternated with at least one other pair and worn at most every other day. The day of rest allows the moisture inside the shoe to evaporate and to give the leather a rest to maintain its shape. If you wear your shoes every day, you will be lucky to get a year's worth of wear out of them even if you do everything else right.

Last, I can't stress enough the importance of getting a good fit in the shoes you end up buying. Even the best shoes will wear quickly if your foot isn't meeting the shoe's designed stress points and pressure isn't being applied at the right place. Make sure you buy your first pair from a retailer that will take returns and wear them on carpet until you are sure you've got a good fit. Remember that good leather shoes like the Fifth Avenue will take some time to break in so slight tightness in the vamp (top of toe box) and and some slight slippage at the heel will probably go away once the sole develops some flex.

Wow, this turned into a very long post. Shout out to /r/goodyearwelt where any questions about shoes can be answered by some very knowledgeable folks.

TL;DR: AE Fifth Avenues are respectable, good quality shoes but no shoes are BIFL; make sure the pair you receive is free of defects; be aware that they look conservative and alternatives are available; make sure you take care of them and make sure they fit right.

Materials:

Three 5-gallon buckets and one lid (Ace Hardware has white ones for $4, if you don't want orange or blue from HD or Lowe's.) All three cost $12-13.

THESE LEDS from Amazon. $13.59

THIS POWER SUPPLY, the Supernight LED Charger. It is $20.99. You will also need a power cord for it, which I recommend just going to literally ANY thrift store and picking out a nice three-pronged power cord. I'm fairly certain that any three-pronged power cord will work, so if you have one you're not using at home, you can use that.

THIS LED GROW LIGHT, which is 300w and cost $50.99.

TWO of these PC fans. Total cost $10.04.

I bought one of this black duct tape, one of this foil tape (although I recommend buying two, as I ran out with my first roll and had to buy another from the store), and also some double-sided tape, because, if your LED strip is like mine, the adhesive backing is almost nonexistent and the tape becomes necessary.

Oh, and good-quality velcro adhesive patches!

You will also need a power drill and a sturdy box cutter.

I started by taping the entire interior of one bucket with the foil tape, save for the bottom portion where the soil goes. Then I covered the outside with the black tape. Next I drilled holes in the bottom for drainage.

Then I took two of the other buckets and used a ruler's width to mark a cut line right below the lip of each bucket to create spacers. The process of cutting the plastic buckets was definitely the worst part of the process, especially since I didn't have a great cutter, so if you're getting a new one, don't be too cheap. I got this one and it's blade locking function no longer works after this project, so be advised. I lined the spacers with foil tape.

Using the remains of one of the other buckets, I trimmed more of the bucket down so that it's now only the bottom and stands 5" tall. I found some random large screws in my toolbox and drilled them around the circumference, which allows the rest of the bucket to be easily lifted off of the drain pan.

I then drew a circle about 1 cm in from the lip of the lid and cut that out. The light fits perfectly on it. There is lots of light escape at the rim, but it looks pretty cool, so I don't mind it for now.

For the power supply, I cut off the female end of the three-pronged cord I got from Arc Thrift and stripped the wires down a bit. There were three wires inside, green (ground), white (neutral), and black (live), which I then connected to driver. I was certain to unplug during any wire-play and I hope everyone else is, too.

The sidelights were sort of a struggle. I used a scrap of the buckets, like maybe 4-5 inches of bucket from about half-way down to a quarter, so not much. I then lined the inside with the double-sided tape, cutting strips, in an effort to conserve tape, which feels very stable. I drilled a hole and fed the cable through, then determined the best spot to drill a hole on the exterior bucket. It's about at the center of the bucket, or in my case, 13 cm down from the lip. Finally, I fed the LED cable through the exterior hole and the lights were basically in place, where it would sit right above the soil.

I didn't want to have to extend any cords, so I found an ideal spot to place the driver on the exterior so that all cables (LED strip, both fans) could reach their appropriate ports. I fixed the velcro onto the bucket and the driver and tidied the wires with some more duct tape.

Finally, I sealed the edges of both fans, inside and outside, with their respective tapes.

I'm pretty sure that's everything I've done to this point, but if I think of anything else, I'll add it. I'm likely going to black-out the spacers to reduce light leak.

Please let me know if you have any advice, questions, comments!

Thank you /r/SpaceBuckets, for the inspiration and wisdom!

You will want to make sure you are doing a body weight routine that includes more difficult movements and not just ricidulous volume on basic exercises.

/r/bodyweightfitness is a good starting point to get you rolling but if you already have great lifts their routine might not be advanced enough for you. Overcoming Gravity is a great resource with writeups and progressions for exercises although through some extremely advanced gymnastics exercises such as planche pushups.

It should be very easy to keep your size for your upper body with BW exercises. Lower body is a bit harder, especially if you have a very big squat/deadlift. Still doable, but for the most part you still will want to add weight, and will be doing things like weighted pistols and weighted shrimp squats.

Dominik Sky and FitnessFAQs both have youtube channels with a good bit of information.

A place to do pullups is all you really need for bodyweight exercises. I would recommend picking up a set of Gymnastics Rings at some point or another though as they are extremely useful for bodyweight training.

I would increasing your flexibility training a bit. A lot of bodyweight stuff benefits hugely from increased flexibility.

Also lastly, I don't know how advanced of a lifter you are, but if you are a very advanced lifter be a little with some of the very advanced straight arm body weight exercises. They require a lot of tendon strength in addition to muscle. Even if you have a 2x body weight bench for example you will want to still do some tendon conditioning before jumping straight to an iron cross to avoid injury.

In general you don't want to use the same gloves for heavy bag work and for sparring because you will compress the material over time and risk injuring a partner. For heavy bag gloves I would go with 14-16oz for your size and as far as brand, a bit depends on your body type and preference.

Some people like harder gloves that have less give and others prefer ones that may be softer and less responsive but easier on your hands. Also, I would recommend that no matter which gloves you get, make sure they have adequate wrist support (thicker wrist straps made of leather instead of elastic and straps that double back will be the most secure). The brands you named all have quality gloves but there are two others I would recommend:

Title Gel Bag gloves $99:
These are fantastic gloves that will hold up and can take a beating. They have great wrist support and are really easy on your hands.

RDX Bag Gloves $69: These are a bit more dense and have a more snug fit but if you prefer harder gloves these are a good option. Wrist support is good and once you break them in they really form to your hands.

your dad sounds like mine, but with my dad I leave buying stuff that he likes up to him because he knows what he wants. That and a lot of stuff with sports logos on it are cheap knick knacks or gag gift things that won't really do anything except say "Hey I like this team"

Since your dad isnt too tech savvy like mine is as well, I would suggest a good wrist watch. looks good, but is tough and wont shatter if he drops it. A good watch is really the only "accessory" a man really needs. This watch here
can be used out on the golf course or any sporting event while also looking good. It's an analog watch, there's nothing digital about it. Each band is all one peice so you don't have to worry about any breaking parts or pinching. It's water resistant so if he spills any hot sauce on it there won't be any problem.

If I should be chosen I would really appreciate this gladius or this book whichever would be fantastic.

My daughter's hair is long (her goal is down to her booty) and fine, and comes out of braids all the time. To be honest, I usually let her rock the frayed-braid look for a day.

Multiple braids helps. I've found that twin French braids is fairly good for hold. It's what I use when we are headed to the pool. One day she was wearing six braids, three on each side of her head (nor French though, in not that good!). She asked for really wavy hair so I did it while wet and then she liked having them in, and I didn't take them out for two days. Yeah it looked a little silly, but she loved it, and that's what's important.

My miracle was finding Cowboy Magic. Cowboy Magic Detangler & Shine 4 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000A6XGY6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_DPRAzbR77P7AG This stuff is amazing. You can use it on wet or dry hair. A little bit goes a long way. I rub it on my palms, then work it through kiddo's hair. It makes brushing sooo easy. And kiddo loves the scent, too. I found it in a pet / tack store for cheaper than what it's listed on Amazon for. I'm still on my first bottle and I dare say it's been almost a year.

u/manatee1010 · 1 pointr/dogs

I sometimes use water in a spray bottle, but not always. Doing it dry probably increase the hair breakage some, but I don't have show dogs and they don't seem to care one way or the other. ;)

My Sheltie has hair like a Keeshond, and I do most of his grooming with the poodle. It's great for deshedding!

My Briard has hair that's... more like a poodle's? I line brush Cowboy Magic into his hair and it is a godsend. It's not a spray, though.

I am surprised that your trainers let you train 6 months without wearing hand wraps as these are to avoid injuries in your hands or wrist. I don't know about cleaning gloves, but about the hand wraps I could recommend using some hand wraps as these ones. I have hyperhidrosis (my hands sweat as if there was no tomorrow) so I bought two pairs of hand wraps and clean them every weekend. I bought a small laundry bag from Walmart just for the hand wraps and just put them with the clothes in the laundry.

u/snipes81 · 3 pointsr/bjj

I tested out several and settled on the Cliff Keen fusion headgear https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JUS3T4Q They are a nice balance between good ear protection and a soft outer layer which is helpful for your teammates.

I also tried, and still have, the Cliff Keen Tornado, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KEFWUE/ . Excellent protection, but the hard outer shell sticks out far and is somewhat like a cheese grater on your partner. Wrestling great, bjj not so much.

I also bought and immediately returned the matman, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006SBMZ9Y/ . The attached chin strap was a deal breaker. Not only did it not fit my big melon the attached chin strap means if it breaks it's tough to replace.

I have no problems hearing instruction or my partner when wearing them, but they are a PIA to wear and this is coming from someone who wrestled for many years. I put them on after warm ups or sometimes not until sparring depending on what we are working on. They have kept my cauliflower ear from coming back over the past year.

Best of luck.

u/jynnjynn · 2 pointsr/AussieDoodle

Ive got a couple, because I have no impulse control.

for difficult tangles I use cowboy magic.

For just normal brushing when theyre a LIL tangly, but nothing serious I mostly use this one. It smells like those strawberry candies old people sometimes have. It's the go to when theyve come in from rain or snow, or when theyve had an excessive amount of fun at the dog park.

and this one is what I generally use to brush em out after a bath/towel dry cause it makes them super soft.

Biggest thing in the winter is to make sure you keep their paw pads trimmed, and any extra side fluff trimmed down to foot size. The fluffy feet are like mud sponges.

Been adding Heavy Bag into HIIT workouts and after a couple weeks decided I'd like to break the bank for some proper wraps and bag gloves. Haven't been able to find a good store nearby, but online selection is pretty good: they have about 3-4 different sets each from TITLE, Ringside, Hayabusa, Venum and Cleto Reyes. Was wondering if I could get some recommendations for those brands.

-8.7'' wrist, looking for 16oz gloves

-Flexible for price, $150/1100rmb max

-6in1ft, weigh about 210 pounds (hence the workout!)

-Training/bag only going 2-3 times a week.

Based on some research/recommendations been looking at this set in particular:

Hayabusa Tokushu

Also choosing between these wraps, not really sure what to look for other than 180 inch.

Fairtex

Ringside

Everlast

Revgear

Thanks in advance!

one of the best investments was when i got my husband a punching bag. All in all it was about $175. its a regular punching bag and it comes with a stand like this. We got it with the stand because we rent and know we're going to be moving sooner rather than later. its substantially cheaper if you can just hang it and get one of these. I got a cheaper pair of gloves and googled "punching bag workout". I started doing a quick circuit that takes about 10 minutes but it works out every muscle in my body. I do that and do weights too. You dont have to start off buying something big. I got a kettle bell for $8 from marshalls, a jump rope for like $3, and hand weights for $5 at target. So you can start off with something inexpensive like that. Less than $20 and you already spent less than you wouldve for a month at the gym.

u/GeckoBite · 8 pointsr/hockeyplayers

Jills: just go get on and wear it even if you're not ready for the sock set up yet. The jill part does feel a little weird but I wear one less because of a puck to the groin but for "cup checks" or "sawing the nuts". Not all players are "awesome" and will put their stick in your crotch and some players think a board battle is the right time to punch you in the cup. It's not a common issue but it's one you mise well protect against.

I'll link the jill I use as the Bauer one that came with my pants wasn't up to par IMO. If I'm going to wear one I want one that I actually think will protect from pucks, sticks, and punching. Just take off the harness part and put it in the cup part your pants/shorts come with. The silicon that goes around it makes it pretty comfy. It can get out of order just like anyone's cup can but once I'm on the ice I don't notice it.

I've used one of these with MMX in P90X3 and it definitely helps change it up a bit. Just remember to wear some form of hand protection. I chewed up my hands pretty good before getting some light sparring gloves.

u/Sythus · 3 pointsr/bodyweightfitness

I got it all from amazon:

pullup bar

resistance bands

gymnast rings

i actually hang my rings from the pullup bar. my setup isn't optimal, but its the best i could do in my house. my house is 2 floors, and the main hallway goes all the way to the top of the 2nd floor, so i could hang it there and not worry about anything above my head (so, yeah, my pullup bar is in the middle of a hallway right as you come in my house. the bar extends into the middle of the walkway, so if i don't tidy things up, you just have stuff dangling down).

my pullup bar is high enough that i have to jump up to reach. this gives me the space to be able to do do an l sit muscle up without bonking my head on the bar. if i try to skin the cat with advanced tuck, then my feet are going to hit the wall that leads to the stairs upstairs, so normally i'll just do front lever progressions and then turn around and do back.

honestly the worst part is trying to find a place to put the pullup bar.

Honestly these things are great and worth every cent.

I used to get sore knuckles but these stopped that. They also extended the life of my gloves due to knuckles not hurting. I would buy a new pair once they were compacted enough to start hurting.

I also have a single layer of strapping tape around both hands which helps to support my hand and keep it flat. Not sure how much it helps but it seems to be working.

Any thoughts on TITLE Leather Training Gloves as first gloves?

For bag work and some sparring. The reviews are great and they are recommended in some 'best budget gloves' lists, should I get them?

Also what weight should I go for? I am 80kg/180cm or 175lbs/5'11" is 16oz okay?

Everlast sells a pretty good heavy bag stand with speed bag attachment. I bought one from Sports Authority for a little under $300 for the stand and bag. It uses steel tubing and it holds up pretty well against punches and kicks -- Here you go

u/SampleOfNone · 5 pointsr/bodymods

Besides jewelry material being a common cause for problems (I would advice implant grade materials and definitely not acrylic) and poor placement. Sleeping on piercings can definitely cause havoc. Even more so if you don’t downsize jewelry in a timely matter. One of the problems it can cause is tilting the angle it was originally pierced at to the point of it becoming impossible to heal.
For our teen, a travel pillow didn’t work either. We ended up doing some DIY, to make something like this There’s wrestling head gear that would work as well. It looks ridiculous, but it works great. Because not sleeping on piercings will have a major positive impact on the healing process.

u/HedonisticFrog · 3 pointsr/amateur_boxing

These are what I use for bag and pad work. They absorb impacts very well and are holding up very well after three months and I hit hard at 230lb. The only sign of wear is the red rubbing off onto the white palm a little bit.

These are what I use for sparring. They were a little tight at first and hard to make a fist for the first couple of uses but they feel very comfortable now. They also show no signs of wear but they haven't been used as much. I also got them on sale for $50 so if you're patient you can wait until they go on sale again.

I'd recommend getting bag gloves and sparring gloves since the soft foam of sparring gloves will break down faster on a heavy bag and bag gloves are pretty hard for sparring.

u/DrDOS · 1 pointr/bjj

After trying and buying a number of them, I'd strongly recommend these

Cliff Keen Fusion Headgear in Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JUS3T4Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fkfLBbG0MQEG0

They breathe as well as any others (not great but better than any others I tried). They don't hurt you or your partner but are still stiff enough and large enough to protect your ears. They don't come off and are adjustable to a big (or smaller ) head (my head is very big).

After getting a bad cauliflower ear forming, going to the doc for a draining and a couple of stitches to hold some cotton rolls for pressure in place, I had to be off the mats for 2-3w. Then I wore the protection linked above. Now I don't always wear them any more or after months of being better. I wear them if I feel any discomfort in my ears or redness, and I wear them for tournaments.

Hope this helps.

> I was wondering why she wasn't as fluffy as the other Sammy that we know but I guess age is part of the answer.

It's definitely a combination of age, coat type, whether or not the dog is altered, and the lines the dog came from. My dog has a working style coat and his type is a little different than most of the Sammies I see where I live and I really like his uniqueness, texture, and the quality of his coat (some people and breeders don't, they think it's too harsh, and it's a personal preference). Butt and tail, especially the base, is really tough, tougher for me because my dog's coat is just naturally drier. I like spot conditioning those areas between baths. For really tough tangles and areas, one of my mentors recommends Cowboy Magic for use as a detangler. I have it and it's awesome. I've line combed my dog a lot recently so I've barely used it, but it basically got me through his adolescence without him squealing and chomping my arm off. A dime-sized drop goes a long way when you're trying to work out a tough spot especially in the pants and you normally do this before you wash the dog.

Mctoon gave you some good suggestions, and the ringside IMF pro are a popular pair. (Though I recommend 16oz if you're only going to get one pair, as your sparring partners won't appreciate getting hit with small gloves.)

If you aren't patient enough to wait for sales, I'd recommend looking at Title boxing. They sell a very decent pair of real leather gloves for about $40, which I used for about a year before upgrading to a pair of Hayabusa Tokushus.

From my experience, title and ringside are both very solid for relatively inexpensive gloves. I prefer boxing-specific gear (as opposed to MMA gear) as pure boxing gloves tend to have more padding in the knuckle area which I generally strike with. Stay away from Everlast, at least for their cheaper gear.

As /u/Beazer says, if you have rings and place to hang them, you're good. If you need a place to hang them, something like the setup in this video would get you a long way.
Here is the bar.
And here are some wooden rings. Have fun!

Cool, I have the exact same Elucidator in my room right now as OP :) If anyone is wondering I ordered mine from here.

They are great quality, and look really good too. The unfortunate thing is that the steel isn't high enough quality to really be sharpened much. I took mine to a professional who was able to put a slight edge on it - it's not much sharper than a butterknife aside from the tip which is extremely sharp - but I still think it looks a lot better with the edge at least!

u/Danishauce · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I added this sword. For fun because I recently discovered all the cool armor and swords amazon has! I also have chainmail, a crusader helmet, shield, and other swords in my wishlist. this sword in particular because it's cheap lol

u/Seltiks911 · 2 pointsr/Ultralight

I didn’t find them baggy. I think the sizing came out pretty good. I do have another layer underneath at times.

I would say shoot for the large (it’s sized in woman’s)

I actually ordered both and tried on the XL first and just sent back the large and got my money back. Free returns

I'm a trans guy who is also dealing with this issue. It's not DIY, but I just purchased the "Lobloo" on Amazon. It's an athletic cup for martial arts and such. They have a Female LoBloo version that lays flatter than the typical athletic cup. It's only $40 as well! I'm excited to get mine tomorrow! :D

u/Snapop23 · 2 pointsr/secretsanta

You can get usable Machettes that are shaped like classic sowrds on amazon. That might be your best bet for something afordable and durable.

I hope you know what's captains of crush.

I ordered a captains of crush (Trainer and #1) + Expand-your-hand bands. I also train my grip (learned a lot of stuff from r/griptraining) and it's so good.

I thought rings costed $100 on average, I didn't know they're cheap... But I don't have a place or expertise to install them.

Few stuff ship to the country I am in from amazon but those rings can be shipped to my place. Can I install them in my room's ceiling?

edit: welp my parents don't want to buy rings, they say they're not buying any elevated equipment that doesn't involve ground, they say it's gonna snap one day. nothing's gonna convince them and they got a point lol

What do know about grip training?

Also, are those rows I do in my video sufficient or BS?

I got these a year ago and despite hanging them outside that entire time they show no signs of degradation. Yes they are plastic, but the grip is still pretty good and they are relatively inexpensive.

A lot of people like the dance pants on amazon for an inexpensive option. I am 5'6 150lbs and the size medium is perfectly baggy on me.

u/stultus_respectant · 1 pointr/WingChun

It sounds like you'd need a freestanding bag. Anything on the wall, no matter how well you secure it, is going to make a lot of noise for your neighbors, and the freestanding bags have a lot to reduce noise between them and the floor (which itself is much thicker than the walls). I don't have any brand recommendations aside from "I kinda like Everlast bags".

edit: a wooden dummy is loud no matter where it is and how you secure it. I dramatically underestimated how loud they are when I purchased mine, and even in my basement, it can be heard anywhere in the house.

u/shootsfilmwithbullet · 1 pointr/Ultralight

I used the amazon pair so often discussed here. I'm 6'2" with a 33" and the M fits me well. My friend is about the exact same size as me and the XL fits him well too so I don't think there's too much sizing difference. I'd go with an L or XL if I were you.

u/beomec · 3 pointsr/amateur_boxing

Oof... Gloves. Yeah - lots of options. Make sure to go velcro. Traditional lace-ups are pretty as hell, but a pain in the ass if you need to take them on/off to do partnered mitt work, mix in some jump-rope etc.

Most of the named brand stuff at the 40+ price range will get the job done for what you are looking for.

More than the gloves themselves, if you start experiencing knuckle pain that lasts for more than a few hours after the session, I would recommend ordering these: https://www.amazon.com/WINNING-Winning-Knuckle-Guards-Ng2/dp/B00DOPVEZ8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527116133&sr=8-1&keywords=winning+knuckle+guards

They are super easy to put on underneath your wraps, and make a world of difference regardless of which gloves you are wearing. Think of them like gel-soles for your shoes.

Or spend the half hour it takes to do the multi-layered cloth wrap while glaring at your hands, deep in thought, mentally preparing yourself for the beatdown you are going to give your arch-nemesis... the punching bag (make sure to slightly scowl).

u/Anthony_Grina · 1 pointr/amateur_boxing

I'll be honest, I have had terrible experiences with everlast gloves. Over the past 10 years, I've gone through at least 8 different pairs. They fall apart very easily. I finally picked myself up some leather [Title Gloves]
(http://amzn.to/2q4BD6N) and they are much better. Check out RDX too.

u/SpectreG57 · 1 pointr/SWORDS

I got one of these for my son to wear on Halloween. It's short, does not have an edge (though the tip is very pointy) and we had it so he couldn't remove it from the scabbard. I would recommend it but as others have said: it should be handled with utmost care.

Seriously, this is exactly what you're looking for

u/-dav · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I use Meltonian cleaner/conditioner and either Angellus or Lincoln for my wax. These aren't high end products, but they get the job done for my purposes. If you're looking for higher-end, I've read good things about Saphir and their line of products.

u/grey_sky · 4 pointsr/halloween

I'd go for something like Cold Steel Training Swords. Not going to break on you anytime throughout the night and really blunt so you can hit your buddies with it. Downside is that up close it is obviously a training sword. Also, you'll have to make a scabbard or just make a loop to put it.
video showing the durability

That said, if you are going for looks maybe this or this or this would be a better choice. However, my experience with crap quality like this is it will break and it is marginally sharp so you could hurt someone or yourself if you unsheath it.

Cheers.

u/sparkycircuit01 · 2 pointsr/hockeyplayers

I wear this pelvic protector and have found it really comfortable. I wear compression shorts, and then just slip that over them under my hockey pants. I don't have the shorts with the velcro and to be honest have yet to have problems with my socks falling down (knock on wood). I just tape them over my shin pads.

u/truncatedusern · 1 pointr/bodyweightfitness

Mine are somewhat similar (here). The wider rings are supposedly more comfortable to grip.

u/Weemz · 1 pointr/bjj

In the same boat. Started getting repeat puff ups after about a year of training. I get caught and push through a lot of triangles and big-man pass a lot. But there are more experienced people in my gym who have a similar style and not a scratch. Some people are just more prone to it.

Due to my career, and also my wife's opinion on the matter, I picked up these and they have been great. Comfy, easy to clean, zero ear issues. The only downside is hearing is a bit compromised but, meh.

u/jonathaniui · 2 pointsr/bodyweightfitness

Check the ones Antranik recommends in his rings routine page, those are recommended by him and have 50% discount on amazon, or at least they had it last week.

Buy a set of gymnastics rings (wood is good), head to /r/bodyweightfitness, and strong on. TRX something something gimmick. You can also buy plastic rings for about $25.

Dauber is definitely a preference. I prefer it for use in the brogueing. What you call shoe cream I call cleaner & conditioner.

u/Mundus_Vult_Decipi · 2 pointsr/headphones

As an old shoe dog I'd suggest a leather conditioner/cleaner as you would for a pair of leather shoes. This should help you a bunch

u/khariel · 3 pointsr/bjj

I've had one identical to the one /u/scpDZA suggested, but didn't work too well for me.

Bought a Cliff Keen and even though it's more expensive, it was worth every penny. Never had a problem with cauli anymore.

If you have no shame, what I did was just bought a pair of rings, put the Smith machine to its highest setting and did ring dips, ring rows, ring push ups, ring pull-ups, ring Lsits and did sumo squats with dumbbells because eff Smith machines.

Rings are pretty inexpensive and a huge value to your exercising.

u/MoonSpider · 2 pointsr/SWORDS

Sure, but that's why I said "looks like."

It's an extremely narrow one-handed interpretation of what is in actuality a very large two-handed sword, with cast fittings. Leads me to suspect that a wall-hanger is more likely than a beater. EDIT Ah yes, a $27 decorative piece sold by BudK.

u/ThatOneJeepGuy · 1 pointr/swordartonline

I found one here. The only thing is; it's carbon steel which doesn't reflect off light as nicely, and the sheath is wooden.

I have seen a complete set that was metal, but it is unable to buy right now.

u/Midnightatnevada · 3 pointsr/zelda

To my knowledge, there's no such thing as a mass produced metal Hylian Shield. If you want one you'll have to make it yourself or have one custom made, which would likely be quite expensive. This is about as good as it gets. Sorry.

u/invisiblecamel · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'm guessing pepper spray wouldn't work. Hurts like a bitch though. Amazon has some cheap weapons, but Cold Steel has functional ones for cheap.

Like this bad boy.

Only doing Akeleie's demands because I know it annoys her.

Most geeky - Hylian Shield - On figures and geeky stuff WL

Item which would most help a goal - Guitar strings so I can finally try to teach myself to play. - On default WL

Best item to bring to a deserted island - portal gun...duh - On figures and geeky stuff WL

I don't actually want any of that stuff cos it's expensive, I only entered to annoy /u/Akeleie

u/xNS5 · 19 pointsr/AskMen

I think I'd like a roman Gladius.

Edit: I want to get this for home defense some day. Small enough for more maneuverability, sharp enough to gut a motherfucker three times over, and very intimidating.
