Sturdy step stool ($40) - not the rickety tubular kitchen chair ones, I mean one where you can stand on the top. a Buy it for Life item, not inexpensive, but safe. https://www.amazon.com/Louisville-Ladder-AS3002-6966014-2-Foot/dp/B00182TWL2

Leatherman multi tool (around $50), which i keep in the junk bowl because I can never find a screwdriver fast enough. Pricey new, less expensive when you buy it second hand or in a pawn shop. they don't really break, but you do have to clean and oil them once a year. https://www.amazon.com/LEATHERMAN-Wingman-Multitool-Stainless-Steel/dp/B005DI0XM4/

Cordless drill (under $50), mine basically has the screw driver bit in it 90% of the time. the rest of the time I drill lots of pilot holes. pay attention to the battery... if you can get one with a battery that is shared by other tools in the line, then it is easily replaceable and if you buy another tool in that line you can swap batteries. I like to have 1 battery in the charger and one in the device. https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-Cordless-Driver-BDCDD12C/dp/B0111N8L7I/

Spirit, bubble or torpedo level. (under $10) the Hanging kit usually contains just the wires and hooks, but you need a small spirit level for hanging pictures and shelves evenly. doesn't matter the brand they all work the same https://www.amazon.com/WilFiks-Leveling-Resistant-Different-Visibility/dp/B07M62GJYP/

Small tool boxes vary in quality. I don't know if this is for you or someone else. But don't buy anything unless it's a NAME BRAND, cheap metal tools bend and can break with too much torque. Even the Stanley line that Walmart sells isn't fabulous, but it's better than a nameless brand. I don't like SETS of tools, but you need to start someplace, buy GOOD tools one at a time, I love finding $$$ tools at thrift stores. https://www.amazon.com/STANLEY-94-248-Piece-Homeowners-Tool/dp/B000UHMITE/(i bought a cheap socket set 4 years ago to replace my stolen ones and they already have rust)

Bucket organizer. (around $15) If you buy a SET of tools, take the plastic blow molded container and put it in the recycling. You will never bother putting the tools back in and when you get more tools they won't fit. Bucket Organizers are pockets that fit around a 5 gallon bucket. You shove your tools into the pockets and everything else in the middle. And keep it in the bottom of your closet and carry it to where you need the tools. https://www.amazon.com/Bucket-Boss-10030-Bucketeer-BTO/dp/B00GK4TOWK

Tack Hammer. (under $15) You won't need a big 22 oz hammer, but a smaller 16 oz one with a normal handled and then a Tack hammer, these have a narrow head and sometimes are magnetic and hold the nail in place. Tack hammers are easier to use for hanging things exactly where you want them. https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-54-304-5-Ounce-Magnetic-Hammer/dp/B00002X1XD

Stud finder.(under $20) uses a battery, and lets you know where the studs are behind drywall. BEST PURCHASE EVER. https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Stud-Finder-Wall-Detector/dp/B07VLDTVFQ/ any brand will work fine.

Digital Infared Thermometer (under $20) Non-contact Digital Laser Infrared Thermometer Temperature Gun - ALSO BEST PURCHASE EVER... works in the kitchen for food and oven temp, fridge temp, and for locating drafts and cold spots around doors and windows. https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Lasergrip-1080-Non-Contact-Thermometer/dp/B00DMI632G

Toilet Plunger - the sort with the extra bit on the end. https://www.amazon.com/Get-Bats-Out-Plunger-Bathroom/dp/B00ODD5MD0 you do NOT want to be waiting around for someone to unblock your toilet. It may be disgusting but scoop out some of what's in the toilet before you start plunging, it's less disgusting than having to mop it off the floor. You want the plunger that makes a seal around the bottom.

BUCKET. (under $10) mine is constantly in use, i keep it in the tub and toss wet things into it. I have gone through EVERY TYPE on offer...I was so sick of plastic buckets, that warped and stained, where the handles ripped out. But the BEST and cheapest one I have ever found is a flat back duraflex bucket for watering horses. Not kidding. Made of a hard polyethylene these things are designed to be flung around and stepped on by 2000 lb animals. https://www.amazon.com/LITTLE-GIANT-Flat-Back-Dura-Flex-Plastic/dp/B000HHLHPS/ these are cheap if you buy them in a feed store, but even with the shipping on Amazon it is WELL WORTH the money. You will need a bucket when you empty the back of the toilet tank to change the flushing flapper or gasket, and you will need it when you empty the commode itself, if you have to change out the wax seal underneath.

Blanket hangers. (6 for $27) yeah this is obscure, but when I moved I lost a LOT of storage space. These saved my sanity. I use them to hang up quilts and sleeping bags in the back of the closet OFF SEASON. I also use them to hang blankets, sheets curtains and stuff once they come out of the laundry aren't quite dry. I didn't even know there was such a thing before now I wouldn't give them up. https://www.amazon.com/Stock-Your-Home-Comforter-Organization/dp/B00EUG51JU

Flashlight. ($30-50) I've written about these before. Until I bought a GOOD one, I had no idea how bad the others were. Cheap flashlights are great to have scattered about in the cellar, or in the junk drawer. but if you really want TO SEE, get a great flashlight. I gifted myself one for christmas one year and I love it. It hangs by the door and if I am going to be out very late or the weather is bad, I shove it in my bag. It will also illuminate Well past the end of the porch and into the yard if I hear a noise. https://www.amazon.com/Pelican-Carded-SabreLite-Flashlight-Yellow/dp/B01CKAIYV4 any very good brand will do, but I found Maglites to be dangerously useless.

For reference, discarding took about 4.5 months in my 1400 sq foot home and two storage sheds. I have started working on deep cleaning, upgrading necessary yet ugly items, and storage/organizing. I expect this to take another two months. I am watching "Clean My Space" and "Home Organizing by Alejandra.tv" channels on YouTube now to help with the process.

I am trying to keep in mind getting products out of original packaging, if possible, to limit exposure to constant advertising in my home. I am choosing to spend quite a bit on higher quality products that I love and expect to last many years. Fortunately, I have a budget that allows for some luxuries.

Bedroom

I started with my closet and these great baskets from the container store http://www.containerstore.com/s/whitewash-rattan-bins/d?productId=10037633&q=Large%20Rattan%20Bin%20Whitewash. The closet has a built in shoe organizer and I used my label maker to indicate what style shoes go on which shelf – heels, sandals, sneakers, flats and boots. I also labeled the shelf for each basket. Clothes hangers are all white. They used to be all kinds of colors, and I realized that white is more calming. I am now using these for my socks and undies since konmari folding did not quite work for me on those items http://www.amazon.com/MIU-COLOR-Collapsible-Underwear-Organizer/dp/B009A3HTXY. The folding works great for most of my other clothes. I am still pondering how to organize the nightstand drawers.

Kitchen

I bought a couple of 10" bamboo lazy susans for keeping my oils and vinegars organized in my cabinets. I bought some refrigerator organization units from InterDesign and the Rubbermaid FreshWorks Produce savers. I intend to get Oxo food storage containers for dry goods.
I upgraded to these measuring spoons http://www.amazon.com/Cuisipro-Stainless-Steel-Measuring-Spoon/dp/B00004SU1I and these measuring cups http://www.amazon.com/Sagler-Measuring-Piece-Heavy-duty-Stainless/dp/B00V5EFWTO.

When I was discarding in my kitchen I found I did not really love my dinnerware so I got this set http://www.amazon.com/Corelle-Coordinates-18-Piece-Dinnerware-Service/dp/B00R790CLY plus matching lunch sized plates. I love the simple clean lines and the durability of the product. I downsized from a 12 person setting to 6 and it is great.

Bath

Have not done much here yet. I don’t have much need for storage organization in the cabinets. Still considering what I want to do with the drawers. Right now the drawers are still organized with small cardboard boxes from Glossybox, a cut down cereal box, and an empty jigsaw puzzle box. I upgraded my plunger and brush to nice stainless steel containers, and got a toilet paper holder that matches them http://www.amazon.com/Home-Basics-Vented-Stainless-Toilet/dp/B00JB20IDW.

Laundry

I replaced my bulky plastic basket with this http://www.amazon.com/Bajer-Design-Marketing-5234-Basket/dp/B0010KZCFC. It now hangs on a Command Hook next to the washer.

Car

I have repacked the car kit and 72 hour emergency kits in these for my car and my son's car. ttp://www.amazon.com/TrunkCratePro-Best-Premium-Trunk-Organizer/dp/B01AHK0J9Y. We live in an area prone to natural disasters so I like to be prepared wherever we are. I bought a car trash container (http://www.amazon.com/Highland-1932600-Car-Trash-Keeper/dp/B0027QWNGO) and created a little kit in a ziplock bag in the glovebox with essentials. Also, found tissues in a round container that fits perfectly in the door cup holder. I also bought a set of matching reusable grocery bags (http://www.amazon.com/ReBagMe-Reusable-Grocery-Reinforced-Handles/dp/B00Y17OIR4) so I don’t have the mismatched set. Finally, I have these on order (http://www.amazon.com/Car-Hammer-Seatbelt-Emergency-Must-Have/dp/B00CB8WM2S). Not organization related, just something I have been thinking that I needed for safety.

Purse

I reassessed what is in my purse. I used a couple small cosmetics bags that I had on hand and now have many things I wished I had at various times. Everything is neatly organized and I know exactly what is in there and why I have it. Everything from safety pins, to pen and notebook (http://www.amazon.com/Marble-Composition-Books-Notebooks-Green/dp/B00WRDIS9I), to a tiny flashlight, a granola bar in case I am out and hungry, a tide stain remover pen, a tiny Band-Aid package, tiny measuring tape (http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-33-115-10-Foot-4-Inch-PowerLock/dp/B00009OYGH), my phone, my wallet, and my keys are always on the little hook. Not exactly Konmari minimalism, but those are all things that I wished I had at various times and I am happy that I will not be caught without again. It is a medium size purse, packed just right, with stuff easily accessible.

Home office

I have not done much there yet, but this drawer organizer is working pretty well http://www.amazon.com/Rolodex-Regeneration-Deep-Drawer-Organizer-21864/dp/B002JG48R4.

Command center

I am currently working on a “Command Center” to keep clutter off the kitchen counter. I have not purchased anything for that yet. I am writing down ideas, measuring, and considering products. http://thehappyhousie.porch.com/20-fabulous-command-centers-to-get-your-life-completely-organized/

Other random stuff:

I moved my CDs into a holder http://www.amazon.com/Case-Logic-DVDW-92-Capacity-Classic/dp/B00005ATMD and they now live on a Command Hook in my car. For movies I transferred them to these Sleeves http://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-74604729-Movie-Sleeves/dp/B002JR2V7C and they now live in a small drawer in my living room. I tossed the packaging because it was bulky and does not give me joy.

I am using these in my linen closet http://www.amazon.com/Honey-Can-Do-STO-02986-Nested-Woven-Esspresso. This box for my jewelry http://www.amazon.com/Black-Leather-Jewelry-Travel-Case/dp/B0006JCGUM.

Not related to organizing, but I am loving these brushes for getting tiny spaces clean. So much better than an old toothbrush. http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Good-Grips-Clean-Brush/dp/B003M8GMS6

If you made it this far, congrats. Something that I have noticed is that I can now shop with confidence, I can easily toss or donate the old unloved items, and I am organized enough to return those few items that don’t work as well as I hoped. My home feels much more open and inviting. I know where everything is and my clear vision is starting to come to fruition.

Haha everyone's suggesting a plant theme and I immediately thought of an ocean theme. I can't tell how green that tile is, but if you go for more 'sea green' and tie in some blue shades, I think you could easily get a boat/anchor printed shower curtain.

Or my mom found some cheerful brightly colored fish decorations for the walls and went for a fun-colored aquatic theme. I think that might work well, too!

Sandy beige towels would blend well (especially if you go with a beach theme), and of course navy or a green to match the tiles would be delightful.

Edit: I hate orange, but if you like it, a bright orange might complement those two colors as well? Or a bright yellow.

Ridiculous but fun shower curtain: https://www.amazon.com/Allure-Home-Creations-Tails-Bathroom/dp/B07DFWLW8F/ref=sr_1_26?keywords=fish+shower+curtain&qid=1549918846&s=gateway&sr=8-26

I am also moving really soon so I have giant list dedicated to the move, feel free to check it out.

First this is to not for get cleaning supplies or a plunger because they are things you are going to need!

Storage bins and closet organizers are always good for keeping the potential small apartment clean, organized and a bit bigger.

Who wouldn't want to wake up to this awesome alarm clock in their brand new apartment?!

I love this shelf and I think it would be perfect for a small apartment and this beanie bag looks pretty comfy, and would be great if you have friends over to play video games!

SO. MANY. THINGS, haha. Half my wishlist is things for my house.

I'm just going to link a bunch of cool things real quick, just to give you an idea of whats out there and what you can get. And since you mentioned plungers...this ones first

Pirate skull plunger! It goes back and forth between being unavailable to available but it's a pretty nifty way to deck out an otherwise boring house item!

Melting Clock Is a hella sweet, very Alice in Wonderland-y!

An umbrella because everyone needs one of those, and this one just happens to have the bonus of looking like a samurai sword.

A scooby doo mystery machine salt and pepper shaker I actually own this one, it is so cool. Magnets connect the two parts together! (they actually have a bunch of different ones as well, not just scooby doo but Looney tunes, etc.)

Annnd speaking of loony tunes, they have baking pans shaped like characters that you can do all sorts of things with-bake, freeze, etc.

And as for me, the thing I'd like to stock my house with are these because who doesn't want gargoyle computer speakers? (particularly if you're like me, and are attempting to have a haunted mansion themed living room.)

u/VA_Network_Nerd · 1 pointr/college

If there is one lasting skill inflicted upon me from 4 years in the USMC - its how to clean anything.

The sink you linked to in the image looks old enough to be classic porcelain / china rather than the newer, fancier - but dramatically softer & easier to damage composite materials.

China can stand up to brutal scrubbing from things like comet or ajax powder.
Newer composite material cannot - you will damage the finish.
Best of all are the ancient porcelain covered, cast iron sinks. Those will absorb any and all forms of cleaning short of a wire brush on a drill and just not care.

So to be safe, go gentle.

Soft scrub on a sponge as recommended by /u/iwuvbinny is a good start.

Two related thoughts that may or may not apply to your dorm:

If housing doesn't make plungers easily available at any hour of the night invest in one - save yourself from a really awkward conversation with a neighbor in the wee hours of the morning. Oh, I realize a plunger isnt exactly something you want to take with you if you move to a new dorm next year, so the temptation to buy the $3 one will be your initial reaction. Yeah, don't do that. You don't need a $30 turbo-deluxe either. Something like this is money well-spent:

http://www.amazon.com/Korky-93-8-Original-Plunger/dp/B001DDP4JA

Since you'll be in the right aisle anyway, look for a drain opener / zip-stick like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Cobra-Products-00412BL-Zip-It-Cleaning/dp/B000BO9204

Especially if women use your sink/shower. Long hair is murder on drains. Drain-o is $5-10 a bottle and is only good for 2-3 clogs. A zip-stick is $3 and lasts just about forever.

Just a suggestion, try YouTube for questions like this next time.

Under my Stuff I Actually Need Wish List, you'll find, well, stuff I actually need now that I've moved away for my first year at my new university (Today's my second day of classes! Super excited!)

I need (any pf these would be wonderful):

u/innermostenergon · 1 pointr/CasualConversation

Try looking at recipes that could reasonably fit inside a metal insulated wide-mouth thermos. You'd be surprised at how frickin' long those things stay warm! My mother has one (she works nights, doing security) and brings a thermos of coffee with her. Hers also came with a white bowl that fits inside the lid of the thermos! They have camping equivalents built specifically for food, if you don't need such a large thermos. Shop around. They really do stay hot for 24 hours - I remember my mother brought a thermos full of coffee, and the next day it was still piping hot.

For ideas that you could fit in thermoses - you can make vegetable chilli, soups, stews, small noodle dishes like macaroni and cheese (or even spaghetti if you use penne or another noodle.) Tons of stuff! To get it 100% clean, use a toilet brush like this one as typical bottle brushes are too soft and sometimes too small.

You could purchase a food dehydrator as well and make a large assortment of dried meats for your dad to take with him for protein - anything from turkey, bacon and beef to squirrel, rabbit, and deer. You could also dry fruit and vegetables in those things.

#1. Get a good plunger. And by good plunger I mean this (or something like it):

https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Accordion-Pressure-Commercial-Bathrooms/dp/B07F97CCB3

It's FAR superior to a standard toilet plunger.

u/bruiselikeapeach · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

"Marston"

You said, the cheesier the better, right?
Ok, here we go... The only reaction I came up with, was shaking my head in disbelief. :D

And you definitely need this one as well, otherwise it wouldn't work out well. Trust me. :D

Stuff like this is pretty easy to find. And you can get something much simpler at Target/Walmart.

u/knifeywifey · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

You should get a toilet brush.

Here's something from my wish list.

You're the most beautiful warlock in the room! :D

u/SheridanCecrops · 0 pointsr/CumFromAnal

I've actually had my best results with a plastic toilet plunger handle. The handle part was like a row of marbles glued in a row. It would glide in and out easily and quickly. I would pump my ass as fast as I could. So my sphincter was made to open and close at super high frequency.

MINTCRAFT Toilet Plunger Handle, 6-Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003484KU6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_dDalDbTC7HJKT

You can find something similar at lots of stores.

No. I did not sit down on it, for safety. I took the handle off and threw away the rubber base. Then I laid on the floor and just pumped my ass for all it was worth.

u/biased_user_agent · 3 pointsr/vandwellers

most of the top layer for solar panels are glass. IF this is the case with yours, you can use the automobile "bug and Tar removal" from any autoparts store or home improvement store. or goo gone, or 98% alcohol, turpentine, etc

Get a toilet brush like this : Toilet brush but 2 dollars at a dollar store.
get a bucket of water
Spray/pour on the bug remover
let sit for a few minutes
While keeping the brush really really wet, start brushing off the sap
If the brush wont do, you can use one of these plastic scrubber

After youre done, put a light coat of auto wax on the panels and buff it in( ONLY IF ITS A GLASS TOP LAYER, should be) this will help prevent sap from attaching and you can go up and just flick the little sap drops off.

/u/whatrosaid & /u/PoetKing hooked up toilet seat cushions for my family. This one is for my bro. He always loved Grams & Gramps' padded potty. The pink one is for Grams, she needs it (also keeps her from having a cold booty too).

(I still owe them thx posts. I've just been out of town & haven't gotten pics yet.)

u/dedondemon89 · 1 pointr/Femdom

I used a condom which smoothes it out. The fact that its a straight solid phallus helps apply pressure right where you want it. However i have experience with larger toys as well which helps so that i can comfortably accomodate it. For more amature milkers i suggest the clear acrylic handle of the plungers sold at ace hardware. I know that sounds odd but its long enough and stiff enough to easily manipulate it and put pressure right on the prostate and it has a rounded tip.

also make sure you buy the TOILET plunger, not the sink plunger. Sinks rarely get backed up enough to need one but its not a bad thing to have. What you MUST have is a toilet plunger.

We have a plunger that when I first saw it I though it was someones toy:

$3 also who can't afford to spend £8 on something they need. Do you not have a plunger in your house? How does your mum unclog the toilet?

This made me remember that most people are using the wrong plunger for toilets. Most people use something like this, but it's for sinks. A toilet plunger has an extra thingy (don't know technical term).

Advice: plan out your meals weekly to help save you money. You can buy snacks and off your list every now and again, but you'll find yourself only buying food you need for the week so you hardly ever throw away food you never got around to eating.

What you need: a plunger. Guys do shit to toilets that just... idk how they do it..
