Used a long marker, and angled it in maybe 20 degrees. Traced everything, then used a utility knife with a fresh blade and cut straight down. Peeled the majority of the material back with my fingers, Kaizen foam has layers you can peel back, but it won't come out in that layer perfectly clean. Test fit everything, cut away more where needed, in small increments because I wanted it super clean looking. Once I got the outline exactly how I wanted it, took a dremel with an abrasive stone head, and pointed it straight down and used it to clean up the lumpy, messy, bottom. Even punching straight down to remove material (especially for the magazine slots this was necessary) it was very effective. Just had to be careful with it, and it worked like a charm! Cleaned up the corners with some careful exacto knife work.

I am a huge UBNT geek and supporter. My whole network is made up of that gear.

Except ... the cameras. Because I can buy 4 times as many with cheaper ones. And not pay monthly fees.

I have 4 cameras. They are all different brands (including a non-name chinese brand). Two are PoE, one is wireless, and one is USB. $40 to $50 per camera instead of $140 - $160 for UBNT gear.

I use Blue Iris 5 on a Windows Computer so it costs nothing in cloud fees or other monthly/yearly fees. But it can do pretty much anything you want, including e-mail alerts, phone push notifications, auto uploading to the cloud (ANY service including dropbox, youtube, amazon, etc).

I record 10fps from each camera (x4) and it uses about 15% CPU -- and this is not a powerful computer -- cost $799 new or something a year or two ago. Because CPU is so low, I still use it for the original intended purpose - home theatre computer for Netflix and VLC and BitTorrent. Blue Iris supports GPU acceleration and direct-to-disk recording (doesn't even bother to re-encode if it doesn't need to). Motion detection and object detection is insanely configurable. The computer has a 500GB hard drive which can save several months of motion triggered events.

I can also say, "Alexa, cameras on" anywhere in the house and Amazon Echo will tell Blue Iris to record all four cameras for 2 hours, or until I tell it to stop. Blue Iris also buffers the previous X seconds (configurable, just uses more RAM) so depending how fast I tell it to record, I can hear something crazy happen, tell it to record and possibly get that event from the past on video.

I had fun installing it, but only because I enjoy running wires and crimping RJ11 ethernet plugs.

Don't forget the warning stickers - they may prevent a robbery more than the cameras themselves.

The quality of video from the $45 cameras is just great. I can't imagine spending more money on it. The night vision is good too. And they include audio, IR LEDs, waterproof housing, etc.

I don't have a pool, but used to get several scumbags interrupting my privacy and peace and quiet every single week trying to sell me crap that I didn't want -- mostly religion, candy, pest spraying, roofing work, etc, etc. I purchased this sign from Amazon and haven't been bothered once since posting it on my front door. Blissful peace at last!

Edit to add: Love the part about the brick wall with spikes on top. I'll definitely be looking into that for my own home.

You’re getting some good advice here already.

You might also encourage your dog to bark at people who approach your house:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/dogcare.dailypuppy.com/dog-start-barking-people-front-door-1739.html

Also, a sign like this one on your front porch might discourage people from hanging out there:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CQE081E/?coliid=I19I6LW4ID6ND9&colid=1Y6A41EHG1CBC&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

There’s a study that indicates that people are less likely to engage in antisocial behavior if they feel “watched.” You don’t necessarily need visible cameras, just a depiction of eyes that can unsettle drunks and loiterers and encourage them to keep moving:

https://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/daniel.nettle/ernestjonesnettlebateson.pdf

And make your house look well maintained and lived in. Boxes, unmowed grass, cobwebs, unwashed windows, etc can make it appear as though the house is vacant.

Good luck!

Sorry you have to deal with this. as far as steps

  1. Try to work it out w/ the owners of the venue if at all possible. Sounds like you have exhausted that but just trying again will be a plus.

  2. have an attorney draft a nice C&D letter for you stating that there are numerous hazards on this active farm, and you fear that someone will be hurt. send via registered mail.

  3. get some cheap trail cams and mount around property.

  4. get some electric fence signage like THIS and hang, and install a low-watt fence...for the cows of course

  5. make a pass with the honey wagon every once in a while so the field is nice and fertilized

  6. lock the gates and be sure to post many 'no trespassing' signs.

  7. be sure to remain calm in all interactions with the other owners and the sheriffs dept.

  8. the other ideas of something hilarious that would ruin the pictures is also a nice bonus, the sky's the limit on this one, as long as its legal.

These!! I tried plain white stickers and plugs, but these are like very thin dots of melamine. I used them to cover up a few hundred holes and they look great!

u/gambiter · 1 pointr/exjw

This has done the trick for me. At this point, my fade is complete, and I've realized I don't even care if they come to my house... but I've literally seen them walk up, see the sign (above the doorbell) and turn and walk away. It's pretty great.

u/BreeStephany · 1 pointr/Tools

You could always make shadowed socket holders out of Kaizen foam and place the sockets exactly where you want them. You can use a hot knife, long thin razor knife and/or a hole saw kit to make cut-outs for your sockets.

A wood burning kit like THIS works great on the foam for making finger grip holes and for cleaning up the bottoms of shadowed spots that are less than the thickness of the foam.

FastCap's long nose permanent markers are great for marking out the patterns of your sockets or other tools for you to cut on.

Just my two cents.

u/EatThePeach · 20 pointsr/breastfeeding

I take it small company? nobody above you at "corporate"?

my next move were I you, print off all laws applicable and laminate them, plaster them all over the door.

I'm super snarky and would also include this signand make a dry erase velcro word bubble and write passive aggressive messages for the "cow" to say.

if you are the end all, be all for HR, if anyone has issue with it, they you have to report to, well, you? check and mate, mama

Amazon. And it was important here in Texas that the sign said video and audio: "Security Notice - Audio and Video Surveillance in Use" Sign by SmartSign | 12" Aluminum https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00895ZU3A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.cBvCb390AB9X

I did a similar thing about a week ago with what looks like the same clips. I was stepping on the link box too often (worried I would damage the ports). Also kneeling on the cable and then standing up would pull the back of my head. The original 3in1 cable had already died and was replaced by HTC.

My solution was to hang the link box a foot off the ground using a eye hook (screwed in the 8 foot ceiling), a clip for easy removal tied to a 7 foot bungie cord with the other end tied around the link box. This stops me from stepping on it and it can pendulum/stretch out when pulled on but swing back and hang out of bounds when not. I then use the badge clips one end clipped on my belt in the center of my back and other end attached to the cable with 2-3 feet of slack (the badge clip extends 36 inches). It both takes the cable weight off my head but also has 36 inches of extension/retraction so all the cable can be used. When put away the only thing visible is the 1/2 inch eye hook in the ceiling. I'd post a pic but not at home.

You can't turn around as much, but the trade off of not damaging the cables/link box is worth it.

Tip: 4oz retraction is barely enough to lift the cable (new 3in1). 8 oz is overkill to lift the cable. If you only want to retract across the ground like Asteios did I think 4 oz would be plenty. 4 or 6 oz if you plan to lift the cable to your belt.

I really have no idea to be honest, Argos have the key safes for £25, that was just a quick Google, I'm sure there are other variations out there. I'd assume the better the safe, the more expensive. If you have a garden you could try these fake rock thingys which is £3, you could blend it in.

u/isadelia · 3 pointsr/breastfeeding

I had a hand in getting our room ready, since I will be the first person using it when I come go back to work in December. We got the following sign from amazon. I'd also recommend setting the room up in outlook to block off time, especially if there's going to be more than one pumping mom. It helps you all of you can stick to a schedule.

I found this long nose marker very helpful when shadowing some of the drawers in my tool box. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002NQPEE6/

Also, fresh box cutters helped greatly.

u/fingers-crossed · 1 pointr/AskLosAngeles

Do the questionable ones look like this?

A friend of mine just found out a construction site next to her place had put those ones up and they weren't legit, she called somewhere at city hall(?) as well as parking enforcement who said they would send someone to check it out and have them removed if they weren't legit - and they disappeared for her the next day. I'd try calling back Parking Enforcement to try to get someone more competent and/or using the MyLA311 app.

u/BuNi_Jo · 1 pointr/pics

I just use this, and it's worked great for us for 3 years. Used to have JWs at my door every Sunday.

u/ToastStudio · 3 pointsr/Greyhounds

Right? Last summer we totally needed one of those construction zone signs. Darn pup couldn't keep from getting a cut.

We finally decided on self-adhesive wraps and they work like a charm! Don't fall off, and he doesn't re-open the wound by licking it.

u/IllBeTheBeautyQueen · 3 pointsr/funny

You can buy this sign on Amazon...but the fact that someone actually put it up is admirable

u/PwnApe · 1 pointr/guns

I'd go with something like this. Cheap, simple and concealed if you hang a random picture frame over it. Assuming you're alright with doing the install. If you don't want to hang a picture over it, install it somewhere awkward and slap this sticker over it

u/WillaElliot · 1 pointr/Marriage

Maybe you could buy a little decorative sign as a reminder:

There’s a few different ones on Amazon

u/YoursTastesBetter · 3 pointsr/okc

This one has been very effective. It's hideous and can be seen from the street, but my day-sleeping husband isn't disturbed much anymore.

I got one of these signs, and it might just be coincidence, but since I put it up a couple months ago, I have had ZERO uninvited people come to my door, where before I'd have third-party energy shillers/clean water people/public radio fundraisers/etc at least a couple times a month (and that was just during non-business hours when I happened to be home).

u/jonnypowpow · 5 pointsr/SaltLakeCity

I've lived on 300 e here for 8 plus years now and one time a juggalo got too drunk partied and fell asleep in my car. I kicked him out and he came back 15 minutes later because he left his cell in my car.

Worst thing / Best thing? that ever happened....

I got this door sign and have never had another conversation about my eternal salvation since. - https://www.amazon.com/Soliciting-Business-Stylish-Outdoor-Knockers/dp/B01B39S9L8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1523285496&sr=8-4&keywords=no+religion+no+politics+sign

I would say I rarely encounter mormons that live downtown. My neighbors are my friends we shovel each others drive ways and pick up each others packages when we are away. It is the city and you do need to be aware but I don't lock my car and park in a drive.

u/coopiecat · 3 pointsr/nursing

I went on Amazon and ordered this. I also have a Ring doorbell https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017AJ0JKO/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_1uIqDbHK03EW3

u/stignatiustigers · -9 pointsr/politics

...and this is why I bought a no-soliciting sign.

u/extremegamer · 0 pointsr/funny

I put this exact sign up - works great....even so good I didn't say a word at the lady coming by at 7pm in the middle of the week to do a survey that I just walked past her out my door and pointed at the sign she clearly missed. Walked back by her and closed my door...learn to read stupid!

I have No Trespassing signs on both entrances into my yard. I also have this on my front entrance https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017AJ0JKO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Haven't had any issues since adding that No Soliciting sign.
