Hey! :)

I'm so happy that you have a job you love and hope that you are able to continue doing it!

I have a Quell device I received as a gift. I find that it's a useful tool but isn't a huge game changer. Admittedly I don't use it as much as I did when I first received it.

Pros:

  • You can wear it!

  • It does help to a small degree. I'm not sure if it's just a distraction or if their thesis on the nerve it hits is right. I did get some results.

  • It's easy to set up and change intensity on the fly.

    Cons

  • The sleeve it comes in wears down quickly. Mine stopped staying in place 6 months to a year and I am a relatively small dude. I need to replace it or maybe use a safety pin?

  • The replacement pads are somewhat expensive

  • more expensive than a traditional tens unit

Some tips and tricks. Make sure you put the pads back in the packaging and seal them as soon as you are done. You can make them go a lot longer this way. Also, you can use conductive gel to make them last even longer. I definitely recommend looking into it.

While it is nice that you can be mobile with the quell active, it can bump around quite easily which can lead to a lot of discomfort. It depends on how active you are moving around but I tried to use it mostly when I was at my computer. I would prep food and whatnot in it, but I would say going for a walk with the device is not ideal.

Anyways best of luck and I hope it helps! :)

u/Serendis Ā· 2 pointsr/migraine

I take this supplement http://www.amazon.com/Migraine-Relief-Migravent-Supplement-Migravent-Proprietary/dp/B001HBT7PK every day, it was recommended by my neurologist. It definitely helps with the intensity of my migraines and has lifted the daily "fog" that I used to get (kind of felt like a migraine was around the corner all the time)

If you have a desk job I very highly recommend that you have an occupational therapist come in and set up your desk to minimize tension in your back and neck (do it at home, too if you spend a lot of time at the computer there). Use screen filters, and get a good pair of migraine specs (I have Theraspecs and love them).

A lot of people are hesitant to see a therapist about this kind of thing, but it was extremely helpful for me. Developing coping methods is incredibly beneficial. Same with biofeedback - learning to relax and focus when a migraine is happening, and focusing on tension release when they aren't happening is also very helpful. This sounds completely silly, but it works SO well for me - I imagine little sheep jumping over my toes in tune with my heartbeat, I jump them over my entire body in my mind from my toes, all the way to my head, and I slow the tempo of my "sheep" down as I go. It really helps to reduce heart rate and anxiety, and takes the focus off of the pain and discomfort. Intensely focusing on heart rate and trying to bring it down.

Another non-medicinal thing I did a few years back was to get a sleep study. It wasn't just about finding something wrong with the sleeping pattern - it's about improving your schedule and dialing in your sleep hygiene. Sleep is hugely important for many reasons, including migraines. Especially for migraines.

Hope you have some luck!

u/DragonBorn76 Ā· 2 pointsr/beauty

I may get down voted for this but oh well. I'm just throwing out some ideas if they can be at all helpful.

It maybe something helpful or it may not but I thought I would share. There are some Japanese who believe in facial massage . It's called Tanaka and it's highly regarded. It maybe helpful?

There's a good thread on Tanaka method here and here that really go into it. You can find her videos on youtube, here is the first one.

It may help reduce swelling? I'm not making any claims but I know other parts of our bodies , a massage can be beneficial to help with swelling.

Compression is also used for swelling in other parts of our body and there are such things as facial compression masks like this.

Then another option maybe to look at getting cooling masks to help with the puffiness or maybe the jade rollers? I use these on my eyes in the morning because I wake up to under eye bags. But some people say rollers help a lot too.

I'm so sorry you're in pain! The only OTC advice I can offer is these cool gel sheets, which I buy in bulk for migraines. You can find them at most Walgreens, too. They don't make the pain go away, but they can help make it more bearable while you wait for the Excedrin PM to take the edge off and help you sleep.

When you are able to see a doctor, I would ask for abortive medicines to try, like triptans, and ask about starting the two-month free trial for the new preventative drug Aimovig. It's the best and fastest working preventative I've tried in the past decade (you give yourself a shot in the thigh every month).

I wish there were more I could offer, but ultimately the best help you can get is in the form of prescriptions.

u/Dymphy Ā· 2 pointsr/wemetonline

If you want to help her financially, get her a giftcard to a local grocery store (for something sweet ;) ) or a local clothes shop that she likes. Some grocery stores do grocery delivery that you can pay for online, and a few areas have things like Amazon Fresh. As a proud woman who has spent a lot of time down on her luck, these are the helpful gifts that feel like gifts and not charity.

If she's been physically unwell, maybe look into something like: this
You can also buy a cute pair of socks, fill them with uncooked rice (not instant rice) and lavender, seal them up and presto, home made lavender heat wraps.

u/executivesphere Ā· 2 pointsr/migraine

If you don't already, I'd definitely recommend that you get a prescription for sumatriptan. For me, it's been a lifesaver. It's an abortive medication, so it won't prevent the migraine from happening, but it is very effective for making a migraine go away once it has started.

Other than that, there's not much to say. Everyone's migraine triggers are different. Could be any number of things, but a few worth investigating:

  • Vitamin deficency. Some people seem to have pretty good success treating this with a supplement like Migravent

  • If you wake up with a headache every morning, it could have something to do with your sleep (clenching you jaw, perhaps)

  • Blue light exposure late at night, possibly.

  • Anything else. Sorry, there are so many triggers. You could try keeping a journal to see if you can detect any patterns
u/Ophthalmologist Ā· 4 pointsr/Ophthalmology

First off- disclaimer - this is general advice, I am not giving you medical advice, I am not your doctor, I cannot diagnose or treat any conditions through the internet.

Chalazia once they become firm and not swollen or red are often resistant to treatment but they can be treated with hot compresses.

A hordeolum is a warm, swollen, tender meibomian gland and these respond better to treatment with compresses. They can sort of "burn out" and become a firm, nontender, chalazion.

> I'm almost always in public so it's kind of impossible to carry a facecloth around with me, soaking my eye all day.

It sounds like someone didn't explain how to do compresses to you. First off, if you're going to use a washcloth you need a FRESH, clean washcloth each time so hanging around to one washcloth all day is wrong right off the bat. Second, you don't need to soak your eye all day. You need about 10 minutes of continuous heat applied to your eyelids followed by massaging the oil glands and washing your eyelashes. This video explains the compresses and massage.. After you do this, take a clean washcloth with some baby shampoo and scrub your eyelashes clean then rinse well.

Blepharitis, hordeola, and chalazia are treated by doing that whole thing two or three times per day. Do it once when you wake up, once after work, once before bed. No need to carry anything around.

People think a washcloth is effective but really like the video shows this is most easily done by buying a hot compress eye mask like this thing from amazon. It's near impossible to keep a washcloth hot for 6 minutes. You end up having to rewarm it, your eyelids have cooled off by the time you rewarm it, and then you're back at square one and never get enough heat to the oil glands where it is needed.

These are caused by blocked meibomian oil glands. These glands sit right behind your eyelashes.

>I also am someone who wears makeup every. day. Do I REALLY have to give up wearing it?

If you are putting mascara and eyeliner on every day then yes, you should maybe give that up for a while. If you keep plugging up those glands every day while they're obviously inflamed you're going to get more of them.

> I can make a trip to my family doctor, optometrist or an ophthalmologist, but the healthcare where I live sucks and I probably wouldn't get in to see either for a month+.

I really hope you are seeing an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist at least yearly if you are wearing contacts!! Some of this post makes it seem like you've been wearing contacts this whole time but haven't had an eye doctor look at your eyes. That's worrisome and can be way, way more dangerous than a chalazion.

There is a high chance you have either a stone or a UTI caused by a stone which you might have passed out. It is good that you exercise, keep it up. But also:

  1. Increase your water intake

  2. Boost your diet on magnesium rich foods such as nuts, leafy greens, beans, avocados

  3. You need more vitamins C, B6 and E

  4. I will advice you to look into some natural herbal extracts. These will help to break the stone into smaller pieces, expand your ureters and help you to easily flash out any stone and impurity that may be in your urinary tract. The reason I recommend herbal extracts is that in my opinion and in the opinions of several healthcare practitioners, these are safe without any potentially harmful side effects and very effective. You need Chanca Piedra, Celery Seed extract and Hydrangea.Ideally you can find these in Stone Breaker by Eu Natural (https://www.amazon.com/STONE-BREAKER-Chanca-Piedra-Gallbladder/dp/B01FERIHYE )

  5. Try drinking Lemon Juice.

In my opinion, this is the safest and easiest way to boost your health and get rid of any stones or UTIs. Feel free to check out other products as well but keep in mind the vitamins, minerals and herbs I mentioned. Do some research into them if you want.

I need this Omron ElectricTherapy Pain relief device. I need it both for myself and my boyfriend.

I have a pinched nerve in my lower back and I had a person suggest I try this. I've tried all kinds of creams, medicine, etc. and I see a Chiropractor for something similar. I thought this might be a good temporary relief for myself.

The pain in my back can be excruciating but somehow I manage. (Somedays well, others not so much.) I'd really love to be able to give this a shot. Also, my boyfriend has a bad knee. After several years of skiing, I suppose bad knees were bound to be an issue, but this might just be a good option for my honey. <3

Anyway, thanks bunches, love! You're the best!

u/val319 Ā· 3 pointsr/keto

I was going to ask if you've been checked for raynaud. It makes sense getting colder plus you need to try not to get horribly cold. I've heard Cuddle duds were good. Think thermal. I'm unsure about the sizes (they look small)but maybe thermal type would really help you. These look nice for plus sizes. In'voland Women's Plus Size Cotton Thermal Underwear Long Johns Set Solid Top & Bottom Fleece Lined,Champlain Blue,20W/3XL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078NQMDH1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_cHoXBbRV0W9JY
For the bed a heating pad would also keep help if you get extremely cold. I'm sure you've got an electric blanket but when you just can't get warm. The new heating pads are amazing. I've got this one and it's amazing. While some feel the heat isn't as hot (you can't burn yourself) i feel it sinks in deeper due to the continual even heat. PureRelief XL ā€“ King Size Heating Pad with Fast-Heating Technology, 6 Temperature Settings, Convenient Storage Bag ā€“ Turquoise Blue (12" x 24") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KVYTV7M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-IoXBbSVZYW8K the Big difference between different brands are settings and if it's stay on or auto off. There's also ones that are big squares.

u/hlthhlthhlth Ā· 3 pointsr/KidneyStones

One of the first and most important determinants to prevent kidney stones is living a healthy lifestyle with strong emphasis being on the right diet. You are going to want to avoid beer, soy, chocolates, legumes, wheat, nuts, salt and spinach.

Water is essential for you. To improve the health of your kidneys, get rid of inflammations, infections and stones, drink lots of water. Water will help to flush out stones and impurities form your urinary tract.

Take some Chanca Piedra from time to time. Chanca Piedra means stone breaker and it comes from a plant. With virtually no side effects this herb will help to prevent the formation of new stones and also help to get rid of existing stones by helping to relax the ureter.

Celery Seed extracts have also shown to be quite effective in this manner.

I always recommend Stone Breaker by Eu Natural. It contains the ingredients I mentioned and other vitamins and minerals which have proven to be very helpful in fighting stones and infections. You can get some https://www.amazon.com/STONE-BREAKER-Chanca-Piedra-Gallbladder/dp/B01FERIHYE .

Remember also that your system needs vitamins B6, E and magnesium. Stones are troubling yes but if not careful, they can cause further complications like UTIs and other disorders.

And finally I will advise you to exercise. By this I do not mean go start lifting weights. No, go on hikes, take part in some light exercises, yoga, swimming and others. Stay active.

Remember eat well and watch your diet.

u/Fibonacci_Sequence Ā· 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I will post this in every one of these threads from here to eternity:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000R70YKW?pc_redir=1409323223&robot_redir=1

My best friend sent me this when I was having some early complications, and it is THE MOST AMAZING THING. I get weepy thinking about how it is like a hug from her. <3

u/Contrecoup42 Ā· 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

Yeah... I've had to do this šŸ˜© I started doing it occasionally around 36 weeks after he had been kicking the same place for at least a month. I picked up some mini gel ice/microwave packs from Amazon that are the perfect size. They don't stay cold super long because of the size, but I find that perfect for this because it makes sure I don't keep the cold on for too long. They were recommended for relief when nursing due to the size/shape.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0186F3O2G

u/SheaRVA Ā· 2 pointsr/Parenting

I would recommend calling your doctor, especially if it's the same one you saw last week, and tell them your issues. They may be able to call in a prescription for you to get you through a few days until you can safely get to them for a full evaluation.

I'm sure that you've tried just about everything, but I find that when I'm having spasms like this a soak in a hot bath with epsom salt can help with the swelling and to warm up the muscles so I can try to readjust where I'm "stuck". We also sometimes use something that uses mild (and controllable) electric pulses to basically shock nerves and muscles into "resetting".

Here is something similar to what we use:
https://www.amazon.com/Omron-electroTHERAPY-Relief-Device-PM3030/dp/B008KEHA2E

There are a lot of varieties out there and many come with multiple sizes of pads for different sized areas. It doesn't work for everyone, but it really does help me when my sciatic nerve is acting up and causing back pain.

Is there anyone else in your network that you can call on to help with you being so sick? Relatives, neighbors, family friends, etc.

u/His_Self Ā· 2 pointsr/ChronicPain

Sunbeam makes one for neck, shoulders and upper back. It isn't cheap, bt it is the best I've ever owned ad I have gifted some to family and they love them to. The link posted is Amazon, however many large drug stores sell them as well. Note the way it is made. The collar has a strong magnetc clasp if you want to use itthat way.

If you are still having a headache try:

  • Excedrin migraine. Or something with caffeine. Caffeine is the difference between normal Excedrin and Excedrin Migraine.

  • An icepack - my fav icepack I have been through many, many icepacks LOL

  • If it is coming from your neck biofreeze can really help

  • Take a nap in a dark room and/or use an eyemask

    I hope you feel better!
u/JustLearningToReddit Ā· 1 pointr/melbourne

Glad you're feeling better. And no, helping yourself feel better is not a crime in my books although I am a big wuss and wouldn't try anything without a doctor's script.

Oh, I thought these might help you. [Cool gel eye mask] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002OSWW3O/ref=s9_al_bw_g121_i1) and cool sticky sheets. The sticky sheets is on sale at woolies. I wish I could go buy some. And crank up the aircon in the middle of winter.

u/notthatbigbrother Ā· 2 pointsr/AnalFissures

I am not a doctor, just a patient.

Stay hydrated. Figure out why you are straining and start making changes to your diet as soon as possible. Not enough fiber? Get some psyllium husk tablets. Hard stool? Colace(stool softener) I recommend both. It is extremely important to stay hydrated. Dehydration while on any of those will make bowel movements worse. Try to take a shower after every bowel movement, but avoid soap. You do not want to make the same mistake as me and let your skin dry out. If you do use soap I recommend vaseline or a&d ointment after a wash. Cold water may feel relaxing and numb the pain, but remember to do warm water sitz baths as well. The key to healing is increasing blood flow. The blood flow is low in the rectum so healing can take quite some time. Despite how much blood you might see after a bowel movement. Applying heat will increase blood flow. Unfortunately for you the pain from the fissure comes from your sphincter spasming and it will be hard to stop that without prescription medication. You might have some success with lidocaine, but that can be costly(see Dr. Butlers cream). Over the counter pain medicine will help as well. Avoid opioids(can cause constipation). True pain relief comes with the nitroglycerin ointment. Which also increases blood flow to the area and relaxes the muscle. Yes get the baby wipes, but I would avoid the neosporin and get the dr. butlers cream while you wait for an appointment to get the nitroglycerin. I highly recommend getting the nitro. Also look into lifting your legs while on the toilet into a squatting position. Don't wait on getting treatment for this. Although not life threatening if you wait and it gets worse you will regret it, trust me. Make an appointment to see a doctor/specialist if you can afford it. Maybe look into fasting for a day or two, or even intermittent fasting. Give your fissure some time to start healing before irritating it again with another bowel movement. You can't stop pooping, but you can limit how much you do it. If you do fast do some research on keeping your electrolytes in check. Like I said you do not want to become dehydrated. Good luck and stay hydrated!

I get pretty bad migraines from time to time and the only thing that helps me is a dark room and ice cold cloth on my eyes. This would be extremely relaxing to me.

If I won, cute cupcake themed fabric or anything that's brightly colored with sprinkles/polka dots on it. ^_^

I'm tempted to enter, but the only strictly health item on my wishlist would end up being about $50+ with international shipping and a high base price - way too much and it's a want, not a need. Pretty much anything else on my list could be described as for my mental health - staying happy, busy and away from depression but that's probably not what you mean. ;)

I like this contest idea though! I hope that it can help out someone.

u/hersheykiss7761 Ā· 3 pointsr/BabyBumps

I got these pads for the first few days that are super heavy. I still have some left, I only needed such a heavy pad for the first week. After that I was able to use these regular sized ones. The wings are really helpful in getting everything to stay put, and also the longer ones are good for night-time when you may be moving more. You can also get these pad ice packs, they gave them to me at my hospital and I loved them, but you could also buy some more to have on hand.

These were amazing for me. I'm a first time mom, and I was so scared. I was afraid of the pain. However, I only pushed for 19 minutes. I was up walking around within 2 hours. I had her a Saturday afternoon, and by Monday, I was going to walmart and stuff. I was completely fine. Don't worry too much. You can have such a good success story. Also, keep a small pillow or cushion in your car. It'll make sitting on wooden or plastic chairs much easier if you go out.

We bought some old school hot water bottles like these and, for the kids, fill them up with the hottest water from the tap. I usually put them near babyā€™s feet, just so thereā€™s some ambient warmth nearby. They retain heat really well and the little sweater sleeves prevent them from being too hot to the touch. You could even just put it in the bed before bedtime and take it out when you lay baby down. We have one for every bed in our house and sometimes my five year old falls asleep hugging his like a stuffed animal!

That is the one I bought, but it's way too cold if you use it that way so I have to turn it inside out...hence the part that is out is white and filled with instructions. It is pretty funny really. I had to take a "step outside and look at yourself" moment when I realized earlier I was sitting on the toilet with this "hat" on singing to my fiance about how happy I was to have the poops. He's a lucky man, no?

Oh and the movie is called Through the Never..it's a weird type of movie mixed in with concert footage...interesting so far.

I havenā€™t started chemo yet so I canā€™t 100% promise any of my suggestions will work for this particular type of itching, but here are a few ideas.

  • Sarna - anti-itch lotion for delicate skin. I have VERY sensitive skin and I can use this stuff anywhere.

  • Dr. Butlerā€™s wipes. Very soothing wipes.

  • Hemmorwedge Ice Packs. These are ice packs shaped for use around the anus. Ice will decrease inflammation as well as slightly numb the area.

Even though these are all over the counter remedies, as always, please be sure to check with medical professionals if there are any side effects or unexpected reactions to anything.
u/kat_loves_tea Ā· 2 pointsr/InfertilityBabies

I use this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000R70YKW/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?qid=1397456461&sr=1-4&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

It's great for any aches and pains you have and I can keep it across the top of my chest while pumping for the warmth to help. You just heat in the microwave for a minute or two. The aromatherapy also helps soothe your nerves which can also hinder your milk.

u/dumpbox Ā· 1 pointr/lasik

I had similar issue but its been about 4+ years & mine has improved a lot. I was on restasis & over the counter eye drops.

I highly recommend you use eye heat mask once a day & every morning when you take a shower... walk up to shower head and let your eye lids feel the force of warm/hot water. I do this for about minute each eye. It will massage the eye & improve your tears. It has become my routine because you take shower every morning anyways. This trick is similar to treatment called Lipoflow for dry eyes. This is from lot of research I have done on reddit & other online resources.

Also get Bilberry its natual for dry eyes.

These were the ice packs I used, i had a 3rd degree tear and lived on these things for a week, they felt so much better, yes they go on top of the pad. They're the same ones the hospital gives you. Yes....the Sunbeam heating pads are great! Came here to say that. I have a king sized one, not for the neck, just a rectangle pad but I use it on my neck often by putting on my pillow when I am in bed. This heating pad actually has levels that feel hot, unlike other brands, and while it has an auto shutoff feature it also has a feature where you can make it run continuously which I love. I had tried many other brands before this and they were terrible....would shut off all the time after what seemed like a short while and they never felt warm, let alone hot. Now that I mention it I should buy another one because my spouse sometimes steals mine when she has pain from cramps and other would be good to get her one of her own and would be nice to have a backup anyway.

This is the one I have....

Peppermint, spearmint, lavender. It also helps me sleep too if itā€™s taking me forever. Iā€™m not a woo-wooey essential oil healer or anything but they do work to help migraines, if not just to distract you from the discomfort and help your stomach if you have accompanying nausea. u/Microwench Ā· 2 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Definitely check in to that, just to be safe!

In the meantime, as someone who also has no heat tolerance, I would recommend hats, lightweight, sun-protective clothes (even just a light button down shirt that you can wear when you are outside can help) keeping up with the water intake, and maybe ice packs. There are cooling patches like this that just stick on, you could freeze ice packs to take with you, and you could also keep a few instant ice packs with you as well. (I am planning to try out the instant ice packs when I go on vacation in August. Indianapolis the first weekend of August is HORRIBLY hot and humid!)

Edited to add: I forgot about cooling towels!

u/AikiGinger Ā· 3 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Depends on what you want. Modern heating pads are only allowed to get so hot, unless you have to actively keep them on.

So if you are going for HOT, a "classic" thermophore is great. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ZHJS0G/?coliid=I33NO79SFPCZG8&colid=7F8Z4MNFKO4P&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it) These are loved in the chronic pain community. And again, it has a switch and it just keeps heating.

Personally, I enjoy a more heat and toss approach. So this is used with a blanket on the other side (so you make a sandwich you-heating pad- pillow/ blanket) but you don't have to monitor it. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LX5CR0M/ref=sxr_rr_xsim_1_a_it?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=3513574162&pd_rd_wg=R8QBF&pf_rd_r=WYNPNJR4TFDTXKQJTBE6&pf_rd_s=desktop-rhs-carousels&pf_rd_t=301&pd_rd_i=B00LX5CR0M&pd_rd_w=ws5nT&pf_rd_i=heating+pad+wrap+around&pd_rd_r=c5bcf031-4ce6-49e6-85d5-d975b57ad023&ie=UTF8&qid=1522531102&sr=1)

If anyone wants something very easy to add to their migraine kit and try: toll-on migraine aromatherapy. Caveat: I think essential oils are overrated, but aromatherapy can sometimes be helpful for migraine, this is peppermint, spearmint, and lavender. I bought it on a whim, it has helped!

I had the same brace after my ACL/meniscus tear, but I would take some of the straps off so I could slide this kind of pad in. It did wonders for the pain. I did it over the wrapping.

Once I got more healed up and didn't need the icing machine, these were the best ice packs I found. They stay soft, only take 2 hours before you can use them again, and they're the only ones that didn't break on me. I recommend getting two.

u/pufwa Ā· 1 pointr/birthcontrol

Ibuprofen is typically more effective for cramps than acetaminophen, but you can also take both at the same time. Applying heat to your abdomen should help too. I use either a hot water bottle if I'm at home or heating pads if I'm out. The discharge is normal in my experience.

u/irishguy42 Ā· 1 pointr/Homebrewing

I think a plastic tub with ice packs like these or a bunch of the small hard ones will probably be fine (just swapping out the packs with fresh ones every day). I went to Home Depot and got this which I can use for both a fermentation swamp cooler and for bottle conditioning (can close it up and throw it in the closet easily).

I'm just being super nervous and worried as a first-timer. I'm sure once I finish the first brew, I'll have learned a lot about the process and how my apartment can handle it.

As a non-pregnant person who still deals with the dreaded H:

Cold is what helps tremendously. These in particular. Freeze it, then lube, up the butt (gently!) or on the outside if yours is external, then take it out/off when you can't stand any more.

There are other options out there, like this that also claims to be good for post partum.

You're not ingesting anything with these, so I assume they're safe while pregnant, but ask your doc if you have concerns.

u/fangirlsqueee Ā· 2 pointsr/Fibromyalgia

Funny you ask about MRI and EDS. Sadly, I tried to do an MRI last month, but had a horrifying (and embarrassing) panic attack about 4 minutes in and have not rescheduled. So I can't help at all with sharing a diagnosis from MRI. At least they didn't charge my insurance. My orthopedic doctor took x-rays a few years ago and saw very slight calcification. I get steroid shots a few times a year and it helps, so inflammation is a factor.

Two family members have been diagnosed with EDS. I have not pursued that that avenue of possibility, so again can't share my own diagnosis.

I do ice pack and heating pad about every other night for about an hour. 15-20 cold, then 15-20 heat x 2. It helps me a ton. I've also started at home physical therapy that orthopedic doctor gave me. I use this ice pack cover and use this ice pack in it. I've also become mindful to not sleep on my side. I try to stay on my back when I'm aware/able.

Sorry I have no solid answers. This symptom comes and goes for me, just like everything else with fibro. Hope you find some relief.

This is the one I use, it's just over $30. I have fibro so it's good for when I do something stupid, like this weekend, I pulled my hip out getting out of the car trying to overcompensate for my bad leg. After two cycles through, pain that was shooting & stabbing was almost a dull ache. It's not effective for my fibro pain though, but that is nerve pain. Still, I've found it handy to have around and it's paid for itself in the month or so I've had it.
