Worthwhile games under $20

Wii U:

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Currently $20 on Amazon via third-party seller) - A solid action game with good online play.

Scribblenauts Unlimited ($17 on Amazon via third-party retailer, inc. shipping) and Unmasked ($18 on Amazon) - A fun little creative toy where you solve puzzles by creating... well, just about anything.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Currently $15 on Amazon) - A superb FPS, and the Wii U version is arguably the definitive console version of the game.

Batman: Arkham City: Armored Edition ($11 on BestBuy.com) - The definitive version of one of the best superhero games of all time.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ($19 on Amazon) - A good fighting game.

Injustice: Gods Among Us ($14 on BestBuy.com) - A surprisingly good fighting game

Lego Marvel (Currently $20 on Amazon) - One of the better of the LEGO games, and the Wii U gamepad means that co-op play can be done with each player getting their own screen.

Assassin's Creed III (Currently $12 on Amazon via third-party seller, inc. shipping) and Black Flag ($19 on Amazon via third-party retailer, inc. shipping) - They're not really all that much better on the Wii U than other platforms, but if you don't have them yet these are decent entries in the series.

Resident Evil Revelations ($17 on BestBuy.com) - A decent entry in the series.

Wii:

Super Mario Galaxy ($20 on Amazon) - One of the best Mario games ever made, and generally considered to be one of the best videogames of all time.

Resident Evil 4 ($15 on Amazon) - One of the best survival horror games ever made.

Okami ($20 on Amazon) - A Zelda-style game with a beautiful calligraphy style.

Sin & Punishment: Star Successor ($18 on Amazon) - An action-packed shooter

Kirby's Epic Yarn ($14 on Amazon via third-party seller, inc. shipping) - It's so saccharine-cute it'll make your teeth rot, but if you can put up with that, it's an extremely inventive and fun platformer.

No More Heroes ($19 on Amazon) - A fun, very silly, violent action game.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion ($18 on Amazon) - Part surgery sim, part wicked hard arcade game.

De Blob ($18 on Amazon via third-party, inc. shipping) - A fun, inventive platformer where you bounce around to paint the scenery.

MadWorld ($11 on Amazon via third-party, inc. shipping) - A good, hyper-violent action game.

Wii U Nintendo eShop:

Shovel Knight - Old-school platformer goodness, designed like someone took the best parts of your favorite NES games and mashed them all together.

Art of Balance - A puzzle game that has you stacking blocks. It's really well-made.

Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition - A truly excellent Metroidvania-style game with a killer fighting engine and a fun, silly luchador theme. If you don't already have this on another platform, you need to get it.

Trine 2: Director's Cut - An excellent platform/puzzle game, and the Wii U version is arguably the best because the touchscreen is integrated very well.

WiiWare:

World of Goo - A superb puzzle game where you must construct various structures to get your goo to the exit.

Lost Winds 1 & 2 - Very good platformers that make good use of the Wii remote to make the gameplay interesting.

Bomberman Blast - 8-player online Bomberman. Aww yisssss.

Wii U Virtual Console - Too many good old-school games to list.

Wii Virtual Console - Tons and tons of good old-school games. It's not quite as convenient as the Wii U virtual console, because you have to go into Wii mode to play them and you can't play them with the Wii U gamepad, but the selection on the Wii's Virtual Console is far, far better than on the Wii U, and at the rate Nintendo is adding games to the Wii U Virtual Console, it looks like it'll probably stay that way for a long time. Keep in mind that if Nintendo adds a game to the Wii U Virtual Console that you already have on the Wii Virtual Console, they'll give you a discount on it to entice you to upgrade, so don't hold off just because you're hoping the game you want will come to the Wii U Virtual Console if it's already on the Wii Virtual Console.

Edit: Well, damn. Today Nintendo announced what is kinda' a game-changer - they're releasing Wii games directly for download on the Wii U's eShop for $20 each ($10 each on the week they're first released). The first game, Super Mario Galaxy 2, is out now, and the next two games will be Metroid Prime Trilogy and Punch-Out!!

All three of those games are extremely good, and have been selling for far more than the asking price (Metroid Prime Trilogy was $60-100 used before this news). If you're looking for cheap Wii U games and never got these titles on the Wii, Nintendo has just dropped the gauntlet with a deal you can't refuse.

  1. Amazon Fire TV Stick cause cable is too expensive and it's nice having all your streaming apps/games/music in one place especially for entertaining. Plus, if you have prime, you can back up all your pictures to the amazon cloud for extra protection from getting lost in a computer crash and whatnot but this little thing will also display them on your tv. How cool! $39.99 (my Electronics wl)

  2. This album/binder that could be used with scrapbooking, journaling, memorabilia, photos, and even recipes. It's very cute, versatile and I currently use it as a journal/planner. $10.15 (Be creative WL)

  3. This dress because even though I don't like to dress up often, it is nice to have something comfortable, casual, but that can be dressed up to rely on when a professional event, meeting, or party where you may need to dress up a little but feel comfortable doing so. $16.81 (may vary with size options) (clothing wl)

  4. Inside Out because this movie is full of awesome. I personally can use it as a therapy tool, as well. Great entertainment with a powerful message and understanding your emotions and how they interact together. $22.99 (Movies WL)

  5. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U because I have yet to own this for the Wii U and want it so bad. I also know a couple people who would play with me if I were to get this particular game so it would be great for entertaining as well. I'm not sure if you own a wii u or not but figure I put it up here anyway since it is an item I want but wouldn't normally put on a contest here because of its price point. $50.55 (Gaming WL)

I hope this array of interests have sparked some interest with you. If not, thanks for hosting the contest anyway and happy shopping. :) :)

First thing I'd do is order [Wii Party U] ( http://www.amazon.com/Party-Black-Remote-Plus-nintendo-u/dp/B00DC7FWRE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842635&sr=8-1&keywords=wii+party+u).
It's $50 and comes with a black motion + controller and comes out this month. The game looks really fun local mutliplayer, and you will really want a Wiimote+ in your collection as well so this kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Grab a Black Nunchuck to match and you should be good to go.

[NintendoLand] (http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Land-wii-u/dp/B002I0K3M0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843310&sr=8-1&keywords=nintendo+land) - Is really fun local multiplayer, and can be found for $20 or less these days. Keep an eye out and you can get it cheap.

[Need for Speed Most Wanted U] ( http://www.amazon.com/Need-Speed-Most-Wanted-Nintendo-u/dp/B00A39IEN8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843367&sr=8-6&keywords=need+for+speed+most+wanted ) - is the best version of the game. They support every feature the PS360 has + off screen play, a co-driver mode which helps you change your environments, DLC included, further draw distances and higher res textures (they used the PC textures, not the PS360 ones) so if you don't already have it, it's a great game and under $20.

[Rayman Legends] ( http://www.amazon.com/Rayman-Legends-nintendo-wii-u/dp/B008AU4YEA/ref=sr_1_1_title_0?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381843522&sr=1-1&keywords=rayman+legends+wiiu ) - Is also best on Wii U, in particular if you have someone to play co-op with.

I'd also at least try the [Zombie U] ( http://www.amazon.com/ZombiU-Nintendo-Wii-U/dp/B00897Z27C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843957&sr=8-1&keywords=zombie+u), Monster Hunters 3, [Wonderful 101] ( http://www.amazon.com/The-Wonderful-101-Nintendo-Wii-U/dp/B002I08CSW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381844015&sr=8-1&keywords=wonderful+101), Sonic & All Stars Racing all of which are pretty good and have demos in the eShop.

Some Wii Games you missed since the Wii U is 100% Backwards compatible.

[Metroid Prime Trilogy] ( http://www.amazon.com/Metroid-Prime-Trilogy-Collectors-Edition-Nintendo/dp/B002ATY7JE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842549&sr=8-1&keywords=metroid+prime+trilogy ) - Fantastic. Can't be stressed enough. 3 FANTASTIC 20+ hour games, and the motion / pointers controls are fantastic. This is how FPS's should be done.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and [or 2] (http://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Galaxy-2-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002BSA388/ref=pd_sim_vg_2) - Both are great, but if you're going to get [Super Mario 3D World] (http://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-3D-World-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B00DC7G0GG/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381844129&sr=1-1&keywords=mario+world) I can see waiting on them.

[MadWorld] ( http://www.amazon.com/MadWorld-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0019SY1D4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842523&sr=8-1&keywords=madworld ) - Short and fun, guilty pleasure kind of game. Think of the movie "The Running Man" done with a Sin City style and you're pretty close and it's under $10 now. Also for guilty pleasures I enjoyed House of the Dead: Overkill

[Red Steel 2] ( http://www.amazon.com/Red-Steel-2-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001TOMR0C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842459&sr=8-1&keywords=red+steel+2 ) - Fun game that probably would of sold better if they didn't call it "Red Steel 2", it's a LOT better than the 1st one and different enough that it could of been it's own IP.

Any Tiger Woods from 10 and up - I enjoyed them all, but once they added Wiimotion+ support it controlled much better.

[Punch-Out!!!] ( http://www.amazon.com/Punch-Out-Nintendo-Selects-Wii/dp/B005EIIBKY/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381842847&sr=1-1&keywords=punchout ) Has support for motion controls or old fashioned NES style. Fun game.

  • Mario Maker - $20
  • Hyrule Warriors - $20
  • MH3U - $5.60
  • Smash Wii U - $20
  • Splatoon - $20
  • Mario 3D World - $9.60
  • New Super Mario Bros. U - $12

Those are some mighty low desired price points... You say that you're using Gamestop as the baseline for those but there are 4 other retailers that also accept trade ins.

    Game | Best Buy| Amazon | Target | Walmart
    -SMM-| $27.00 | $35.17 | $28.50 | $30.61
    -HW-- | $27.00 | $21.47 | $11.35 | $22.98
    MH3U | $3.00 | ^^^^. $2.62 | $4.95 | $5.97
    Sm4sh | $23.00 | $23.51 | $11.75 | $23.49
    Splatoon | $23.00 | $29.96 | $23.75 | $21.36
    SM3DW | $17.00 | $18.76 | $11.75 | $21.00
    NSMBU | $14.00 | $20.04 | $8.10 | $12.57

I understand that you want to spend only $107.20 on 7 games but folks can get $162.65 if they shop around for the best values for their games. That being said the best prices I can find are:

  • SMM @ Best Buy (pre-owned) $49.99 OR Toys R Us $49.99 (new with promo code 10OFFWIIU)
  • Hyrule Warriors @ Target (new) $47.99
  • MH3U @ Gamestop (used) $14.99
  • Sm4sh @ Amazon (used) $45.99
  • Splatoon @ Amazon (used) $45.99
  • SM3DW @ Nintendo.com (refurbished) $30.00
  • NSMBU @ Nintendo.com (refurbished) $20.00

That comes to $254.95 which looks to be a bit more than you wanted to pay. Unfortunate for you that Target just had a B2G1 free on video games the previous week. Basically made all games 33% off. Aside from eBay and Craigslist, those are the best prices I can find on these items at the moment.

Do you like Zelda/do you own the new super amazing hyrule warriors game? If you don't own it yet you absolutely need hyrule warriors. I absolutely loved dynasty warriors and everyone loves Zelda so combining the two is ridiculous fun and I'm already addicted to this game even though its my roommate's so I keep waiting for him to leave the house or go to sleep so I can play it:)

If you already own it then here are a few questions to help me decide on another idea for you: What are your favorite bands or singers? Do you already have a Halloween costume picked out for yourself and/or your pet bunny? Have you ever gotten a professional massage?

If I win I would love this paella pan!

Hello! I am a bot designed to help you find prices for games on some popular sites.
I'm in super beta, so expect bugs.

Searching prices for: Smash Bros

u/Yokuo · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

WiiU: I'm absolutely dying to play Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (and it just went on sale for $40 instead of $50)

PS4: Infamous: Second Son looks absolutely FANTASTIC and I need it in my life!!

360: Fable Anniversary!!! I LOVE the Fable series, but I've never played the original!! This needs to change!

PS3: I keep hearing Journey is an amazing experience, and would love to experience it!

Thanks so much for the contest! This is very generous of you!! I feel kinda bad for linking more than one game, but I tried to order them by preference :p

My favorite game is...

EDIT: Phrasing on WiiU entry and forgot the raffle phrase!

u/dhessi · 2 pointsr/wiiu

From the eshop, Runner 2 is a lot of fun. It's sort of a hybrid between a rhythm game and a sidescroller. Also I've heard good things about Trine 2. I've played Trine 1, which was awesome, and the sequel also supports 3-player co-op.

As for physical games, New Super Mario Bros is a must (as long as you like Mario platformers). Need For Speed: Most Wanted is a really fun racing game, and I think it's the best-looking Wii U game out right now. Sonic All-Stars Racing is good if you're looking for something like Mario Kart or Diddy Kong Racing (your car transforms into a plane or boat during races). I've only played the demo, but I have the full game coming in the mail.

Speaking of which, Amazon has a sale on pretty much every Wii U game right now. For the ones I mentioned:

u/faits · 1 pointr/ffxiv

It's buried deep, but it's there in the "special offers and product promotions" section: https://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Breath-Wild-Wii/dp/B00LCHZRIK/

That said, amazon support is usually really good, and this guy seemed to be going off a script pretty hard. Hopefully it'll get sorted after the escalation.

edit: I looked again, and that's a wii u LP I linked. /u/Shini-tan is right. You're probably out of luck.

u/ghoka · 1 pointr/wiiu

>However, if you go to Target, they are selling the New Super Mario Bros U + Luigi U Wii U bundle for 299.99 plus a $25.00 gift card. You can get Target to price match Best Buy (274.99) and still receive Target's gift card, meaning you pay $250.00 and get two games instead of one.

Luigi U $30 or $16 used

New Super Mario Bros. U $30-$40 new or $20 used

A refurbished Nintendo is $200.

If I buy the bundle at a local Target then the taxes alone will wipe out any incentive for the bundle.

Maybe I am way off here. Would love your input.

Glad you got some good suggestions. Definitely check out the recommended game lists on the right sidebar, and for future reference please ask for game recommendations in the weekly question thread above. P.S. The LEGO movie videogame for the Wii U is currently on sale, I don't have the link but someone posted it on the first or second page.

EDIT: Here is the link to the deal on LEGO: Marvel game on the Wii U and here is the link to the one I mentioned above. Good luck!

It appears that Gamestop doesn't stock them anymore? Not really sure. I remember it was really hard to get the one with the Power Tag for a while after someone advertised they were $15 on sale at Gamestop. Now it's normal to see them for $30-55. Perhaps Nintendo gave them a cease and desist and they stopped manufacturing the power tag? I don't know what the deal is.

Here's an amazon link, but some people appear to be receiving the version without the power tag, while others are getting the good one. It also appears that people are selling the power tag individually on eBay as well so maybe get a power tag from there as well as the version without the tag to ensure you get 100% what you need? Idk. All I know is that it's perfect for what it does.

That is super awesome! I had Windwaker for the Wii when it came out, and when I got the WiiU I just.... HAD to buy another one! LOL, so I just replayed it and got through it a few weeks ago. I love the concept of each island all over the map, and having to revisit some of them --- it's like a treasure hunt, which I love!

Did you see that this game is coming out?? http://www.amazon.com/Hyrule-Warriors-Wii-U/dp/B00KWEHBAG/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1407947389&sr=1-3&keywords=zelda
I don't know if you can play in Miiverse, but if we both get it we should battle! Let's try to remember :)

SmashBros is not only great, it's also still super grassroots, not run by a company, and completely free besides the initial cost. This documentary is a great intro to the scene.

How to get started

Melee - big combo style, very advanced metagame, total start cost $40
Install Dolphin
Install the 20XX Melee ISO
Buy a Gamecube Controller and a Gamecube/USB Adapter
Start practicing

---

Smash 4 - small combo style, infant metagame, total start cost $450
Buy Wii U, Smash 4, and a Controller + Adapter
Start Practicing (wii u has online play built in)

And don't forget to hit up /r/smashbros

I think it's great that not only is it just coming out for the Wii U which could potentially draw in Bayonetta fans to Nintendo. Also, if you look on amazon, I just noticed: it comes with a free copy of the original game! Surprisingly Pikmin 3 is the most, but $39 isn't bad for a new release and all are under the $59 price point. I use Amazon for the going rate because who in their right mind would pay $59.99 at walmart or best buy for something they can get from Amazon with free shipping and no tax for less?

u/OakesZ992 · 2 pointsr/amiibo

Well, you essentially have four options:

  1. Import it

  2. Buy TP:HD (you can price match and save $1) and sell your GCN version on eBay, (average looks about $40 for game+box+manual) so you effectively pay $28 for the amiibo.

  3. Buy TP:HD (you can price match and save $1) then sell the game to GameStop for a minimum of $20 or maximum of $41.25 and you effectively pay max. $39 or min. $17.75 for the amiibo.

  4. Buy TP:HD (you can price match and save $1) and sell it on eBay (average looks about $35) and effectively pay $31 for the amiibo.

    OR

If you don't have to have it right now, just wait for LoZ:BotW to come out and if Nintendo doesn't release it separately then just buy TP:HD (which you can expect large sales on Wii U games because the NX just came out) and sell it to GameStop for whatever crappy price they give you then.

If you do "have" to have it now, then I would recommend #3, especially if you are a Pro member at GameStop.

Edit: Formatting sucks on mobile. Hope it helps!
u/jandkas · 1 pointr/ShouldIbuythisgame

OP, I do have to mention that usually Nintendo games in general don't lose value, when they become out of print. In fact sometimes they go up, like with the Pokemon games (Heart Gold is 294.99!!! on Amazon right now, https://www.amazon.com/Pokemon-HeartGold-Version-Nintendo-DS/dp/B0038MVFYC)

There's no issues you have to deal with a used Wii U, since if you can just erase the system data once you get it and make your own nintendo ID account. If you get it refurbished from Nintendo's website, then it's probably already done for you, and from what I've heard it runs well since when they're refurbishing they replace most of the components with new replacements anyway.

Sadly titles on the Wii U, don't go for sale frequently at least not first party. Usually Capcom, and others are good for digital sales, I think they had Monster Hunter 3U for the Wii U on sale recently for 13.59. You usually have to look to retail for better prices on older games, such as Super Mario World 3D(which imo is the best 3D mario game as of now) is selling for $20 through the Nintendo selects program. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AC3ZD06/ref=crt_ewc_title_huc_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)

Wind Waker HD is also cheaper than it was when it was first released, because it's now part of the Nintendo Selects program, so it goes for $20. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NJ0HTH0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER)

u/SereneWisdom · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Though it's not coming out quite yet (if it's the Wii U version), I think you should go with the Super Smash Bros. game. But if you want something sooner, then I would say Hyrule Warriors. I hear it's really good and who can turn down a Zelda game?

You know... It's easier to pick out something that someone else should get themselves than it is for me. So I'm going to say that I'd like to get these pants for my oldest as he is really outgrowing all his pants and we can't afford to really stock up on pants right now. Also, this reminds me to update the sizes for the pants on there as the boys can't fit into those. xD

Also, thank you for the contest. And I bet you'd rock that Batman suit!

u/81toog · 2 pointsr/wiiu

You will still like Ocarina of Time. The virtual console version is a direct emulation of the original version, however the best version of this game is the 3DS version which has updated graphics and makes use of the touch screen for inventory and map. Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD are also great re-makes for the Wii U. Twilight Princess is currently $40 at Amazon and includes an Amiibo. You could also buy the SNES Link to the Past game on the virtual console for the Wii U. All of these games are timeless classics and you can't really go wrong with any of them.

u/BlarioBros · 3 pointsr/GameDeals

I think what you'd have to do is do the Wii u separately to be picked up in store. Then you get $10 off of that and then you get the gift card. Then, you order Mario Kart 8 to be picked up in store. You get $10 off of that and you can use the gift card. You MIGHT also be able to price match to amazon? It's $10 cheaper on amazon. I don't know...that's really stacking a lot of things up.

Edit: Can't grammar so hopefully this makes it more clear

  1. Order Wii U for in store pickup
  2. Get Wii U, $10 off of it, and a $25 giftcard
  3. Order Mario Kart 8 for in store pickup
  4. Get $10 off, try to price match to amazon , use giftcard
  5. (Optional) Use redcard to save 5% on Wii U and Mario Kart 8

I feel as if the price match may not work, unless you could somehow price match it before the $10 is taken off for having it be picked up in store.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is not for everybody, due to its difficulty, and pace, but if you are one of the blessed few who can give it a few hours to draw you in, you will have a dirt cheap game with hundreds of hours of gameplay.

u/derrick81787 · 2 pointsr/wiiu

> As long as I can get the actual games for a reasonable price and they aren't over $60, its essentially the same for me.

From that perspective, you are much better off with a Wii U. The benefit of being behind the curve a little bit is that everything has its price reduced. You should look into the NIntendo Selects line of games. These are popular, best sellers that were popular enough to have a second release, but the second time around they only cost $19.99 or less instead of $50 or $60. Not every game is available as a Nintendo Select, but many of the good ones are.

I recently bought a refurbished Wii U that didn't come with any games. Then, I bought Super Mario 3D World for cheap. You mentioned Wind Waker, and it is available as a Nintendo Select. So is Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. I believe that all of these games were originally $50-$60.

I don't think Yoshi's Woolly World is, but it is at least available a little cheaper and with an included Amiibo. I haven't been able to find Mario Kart for very cheap, though.

Please don’t support GameStop. I have never had a good experience shopping there.

Last time I went to a GameStop was to buy a switch when they first came out.

My brother stopped in for me and they told him they had a new switch.

When I got there he went into the back brought the switch out with no box. When I told him I wanted it new he tried to negotiate the price with me.

(I felt pretty confident it was stolen)

When I walked out he said to my brother “he is such a pussy because he wants a box”

It's not listed as a special edition, oddly enough. But you do get the special edition extras (Wolf Link + Midna) and hopefully the soundtrack mentioned in the Direct as well.

Usually most sets now come with 23 cards.
Here are the ones I was looking at recent so I don’t need to open the amiibo I own or keep messing with my Power Tag from the picture those look much better then some I’ve come across

My pre-order still exists but the shipping date changed from "March 3rd" to:

"Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

I'm hoping this is just a temporary glitch and not indicative of a cancellation.

EDIT: Also looks like the Switch physical version is missing as well. Maybe the physical stock is delayed and they're assessing release date delivery availability. I'm curious if anyone with pre-ordered Switch copies got an email about this.

One thing that I think hurts this comparison is that the price on TLOU launched high, but if you didn't want to pay that much you could simply wait a little while and get it cheaper. With a little patience you'd be all set to get it at a price you deem fair. That strategy doesn't work with many Nintendo games. Actually, TLOU: Remastered and MK8 both launched near each other. I wonder what their price history looks like...

TLOU: Remastered Amazon price history

MK8 Amazon price history

You can see a pretty stark difference. TLOU got as low as $10 and MK8 only ever got down to $42. TLOU was also frequently at $30 or less. That doesn't even cover the much more frequent Playstation digital sales.

And I remember paying $50 for TLOU Remastered at launch.

Here you go

It seems as though Amazon has beaten Nintendo to the punch as its revealed that Super Smash Bros Wii U will feature a Game Board mode and Stage Builder mode. The information was listed on the product description and was presumably supposed to be announced by the Kyoto based company first. Here’s the description.

“The multiplayer showdown you know and love is now on the Wii U console! Take on all comers as Mario, Mega Man, Sonic, and more gaming greats. Or tap an amiibo to the Wii U GamePad controller to train it up by battling with or against it. You can even pit your amiibo against a friends’ to see how your training methods stack up. Whether you’re creating stages on the GamePad, competing in challenges crafted by Master Hand and Crazy Hand, or outwitting your opponents in a brand new board game mode, there’s no doubt that the ultimate Smash Bros. game has arrived.”

u/fiddle_n · 2 pointsr/wiiu

You keep saying $30 game. It's not a $30 game! Just because it comes as part of the MK8 promotion, doesn't make it $30. Otherwise NSMBU, SOnic Lost Worlds, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3 U, etc. are all $30 games too, since they are also part of the MK8 promotion.

Yes, it's a remake, but to say it's just a port is a little unfair. They completely changed the inventory screen, added Off TV play, added gyroscope controls for item usage, and changed the game here and there as well (Tingle Tuner - Tingle Bottle, reduced Triforce quest, addition of Swift Sail, etc.)

EDIT: RRP of Wind Waker HD on Amazon - $49.99

u/zando95 · -1 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I don't. On the eShop and the official Nintendo website, there is no price listed. And it's extremely common for Amazon to put a placeholder price. They want to increase their profits by taking pre-orders, so they have the page up even though the price hasn't been revealed.

In fact, the price history for DKTF on Wii U shows that it started out at $60 (placeholder) before being lowered to $50 when the actual MSRP was revealed. This clearly, definitively happens, and has happened in the past, with the exact same game!! Why you think placeholder prices don't exist is beyond me.

Bayonetta 1 and Bayonetta 2 play nearly identically, with the lore, etc. being established as a series of surprises in 1, which are ratified and made sense of in 2. In other words, they work extremely well as a duo. Getting the special edition is only 5 GBP more than Bayonetta 2 alone.

Really the only reason I can think of for not getting both is that 2 has a higher PEGI rating re: sexuality. (1 and 2 are both M for the ESRB because any sexuality at all is an anathema to North Americans, I guess).

u/Mindflizzle · 2 pointsr/MonsterHunter

No no no no dudes, that's a placeholder date.

You're right that it's the last day of Q1, but that's the exact reason why Amazon gives that date because the official date hasn't been announced yet.

Look at Story of Seasons, Bayonetta 2 or Xenoblade X. The year they'll be released is known but since they don't have an official date, they are listed as December 31. This is the case with MH4U. They know that it'll be released Q1, 2015 hence they set the date on the final day of Q1 just to be safe.

If it doesn't work, replace Ohhh's with zeros.

Looks like you'll be buying one this year then.

Sounds like you paid in US dollars, which are not the world's only dollars.

It's not just the ports. I was reading again about Star Fox on the WiiU. Some people loved it, a lot of people hated it.

well, it is currently $14.24 new on Amazon, so I figured I'd try it for myself & decide :D

The standard box also looks like it includes the amiibo too.

Your previous comments made it sound like you wouldn’t buy the game at all just because it’s not available digitally, despite the fact that you can still get DKCTF for $30 CAD.. If the price is the only thing keeping you from buying the game, that’s obviously a non-issue.

u/Activehannes · 0 pointsr/nintendo

where is your "dollars"?

because it isnt a fullprice game in america as well.

60$ with a (15$) Amiiboo

I don't know how any company comes up with the price for their product. I agree they should be cutting the price on the Wii U shop games. And I want to believe they will someday.

You also have the option to buy the physical copy of the game.

With that you also get the amiibo. That's half the cost right there.

Why would I want to pay $70 for that?

WWHD is good and all, but it's a $45 game at most, in my humble opinion of course. NFS MW is rarely more than $20 on literally any other platform...I got it for $5 on PC during an Origin sale.

u/theghostie · 6 pointsr/wiiu

It's only $48.66 on Amazon with free shipping. It does have this note on it, though:

> In stock but may require an extra 1-2 days to process.

u/sqrtoftwo · 1 pointr/gameswap

What is the condition? Bayonetta 2 is going for nearly $70 used on Amazon at the moment. Fire Emblem: Awakening goes for around $23 used, or $38 new. I want to do as even a trade as possible.

u/bob1001 · 2 pointsr/nintendo

It's fine right now

Let's you buy digital and says their out of stock for physical.

I just go by where I can buy it the cheapest. $46-$50 for sealed gold cover Windwaker HD on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B002I0GF72/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new . GLWT also.

Bayonetta 2 - Nintendo Wii U https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DC7G1WE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_gQaKwb1P9RT58

Amazon will have this back in stock January 11th if you can stomach the price.

u/ColdRamen · 7 pointsr/Games

Yeah, but if you're buying a physical copy of the game you get the Amiibo. As far as I know all physical copies of the game come with the wolf link Amiibo.

EDIT: fixed link..

Hey, i do in fact still have that copy of Tropical Freeze, but just a heads up. They recently lowered the price of DK and several others to just $20.00, so i'd recommend getting it brand new. Here's an amazon link http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Selects-Country-Tropical-Wii-U/dp/B01AC3ZGRG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459461132&sr=8-1&keywords=tropical+freeze

That very well may be - I was just explaining the point the OP was trying to make.

In fact I'm inclined to agree with you. For example, the Amazon price history of Star Fox Zero shows that Star Fox Zero, a title that was not well received and sold terribly, was being sold for under $35 3 months after release.

It seems that Nintendo titles do get discounted, but only if they sell poorly.
