This is the one I have, from Amazon. It works really well for situations like this, but it isn't perfect. It has very little rigidity, so I had to resort to twisting the cable around to steer the camera. Also I wouldn't dare use any of the attachments that come with it, because I was skeptical of how securely they attach to the unit. The last thing I wanted was to have the attachment come loose and have it too fall into the oil pan.

The price seems to have gone down since I bought it a year ago. I paid $23.99 for it, It's $16.99 now. Honestly, for that price, it's a really good thing to have. I also used this USB adapter so that it would connect to my phone.

It's nice because you can also change the brightness of the LEDS. Drawback is focal range is about 4 inches or so which lends itself perfectly to mounting on a press.

You could make an app for a tablet that would consist of a grid that a 96 well plate, etc. could be placed on. Samples could be listed/entered on the side. The area under each well could light up to help keep track of when you pipetted into the well. In the unused space, calculations, concentrations, steps, etc. could be listed. If you wanted to get really fancy, you could try to make way to roughly calculate concentrations by using an external micro-usb camera (Example) and first making a screen test pattern to calibrate and then placing the camera over each lit well.

FWIW it's referred to as the air conditioner "condenser". But do call a tech out if you think you've smelled gas; they'll have a device that can lead them to any gas leaks pretty quickly. It won't be a wild goose chase like you might be thinking with the whole family sniffing the air around your house looking for a leak :)

I've used an endoscope, which is useful and does not risk dropping the phone inside the wall. Also useful for small holes.

Not too pricey either.

This one: https://www.amazon.com/Vividia-Ablescope-VA-400-Borescope-Articulating/dp/B00GY7C9ZW

Connected it directly to my Samsung Galaxy S7 and downloaded CameraFi (obviously). Worked perfectly!

> Auto zone had a color borescope on sale I think for $150

Amazon has quite a number that are USB. They're MUCH cheaper because you have to provide your own screen (laptop or smart phone)

This one is $23 bucs! https://www.amazon.com/Inspection-Waterproof-Borescope-Endoscope-OE5505-01/dp/B0166UCZ8W/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1487864883&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=USB+Inspection+Camera+5.5mm&psc=1

Motorcycle stands will work.. I lived in an apartment, and didn't have a place to store anything really.

I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LGVRF0K/ref=sspa_mw_detail_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's a simple telescopic mirror.. Let me see mine perfectly while I was sitting on my Vulcan 900 to balance it.

I have a working furnace again! Gas valve was the culprit. Fixed it for less than $100 for parts and tools. Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure how big the mag insertion hole is, but a dental mirror might be nice for inspecting the other seam and is only $5 or so.

u/izipod5 · 5 pointsr/Beekeeping

This is my first real post, so i screwed it up. all my text didn't post.
I wanted to inspect my new hive without taking it apart, so i bought a $20 endoscope from amazon, bored 2 inspection holes, and checked on the queen. It worked wonderfully! thought id share the idea.

scope found here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BF8N44X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the pics of the queen cage and with the wire attached are from the scopes camera.
if you use one, get "OTG view", the app they suggest is completly bloated with adds to the point of being unusable. OTG is the best free one of the ones i tried

the dead bees out front are about half of what was dead when the package of Russian bees arrived from Kellybees.com
the amount of dead makes me nervous, so i couldn't help but want to check on them every 5 minutes :P

hope you find this useful :)

You could get a cheap borescope and drill a small hole next to the stain to get a look up there. I'm not sure if it would show you anything, but it would only cost you like $15.

So here's the thing - it's a cheapo. It's really just a webcam on a really long USB cable:

There's tons like it. You don't get the cool handheld gizmo to see the picture on, you have to use a laptop. But for $30, I figure it's worth a shot. IP67 waterproof, made in china, place your bets on whether it works for more than 10 minutes.

If you have concerns about whether it would be a good idea to open that wall, you could verify what is behind the wall by drilling a small hole and dropping a USB camera behind that plaster:

u/redhandfilms · 12 pointsr/hiddenrooms

Get an endoscope. It's a tiny camera attached to a wire. They have cheap ones these days that can attach to your phone. It will let you look behind any wall by just drilling a 1/4" hole.

https://www.amazon.com/Criacr-Waterproof-Adjustable-megapixels-Inspection/dp/B0757JGMM6/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1537489100&sr=8-14&keywords=endoscope+iphone

Something like that.

u/amd_kenobi · 2 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

A couple of endoscopes. Great for checking valves and finding lost 10mm sockets.

u/Jim_Spagg · 8 pointsr/Justrolledintotheshop

Could have saved all that work and money with a $15 endoscope

u/arizona-lad · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

You may be able to explore this better with a USB camera:

https://www.amazon.com/Endoscope-Inspection-Smartphone-Borescope-Waterproof/dp/B01HGHWX54

I bought one of these for sewer pipe exploration, and was surprised at how well it worked. You may be able to push it under there and verify if you have the leaking that you are worried about.

u/supersurge82 · 2 pointsr/firealarms

http://www.amazon.com/REGIN-HVAC-SMOKE-WICKS-HOURS/dp/B00788GC6S

That's the most common to use. Punk is a wood based stick, a lot like incense. It works faster because something is actually burning.

u/doug_masters · 4 pointsr/flying

With those hours on the engine, I'd couple a pre-buy compression check with a simple borescope from Amazon just to be certain nothing's lurking in your engine.

u/brock_lee · 1 pointr/DIY

It's easy to repair once the leak is fixed, rather than moving a tub or breaking through tile.

You can also drill a small hole and use an endoscope, they're cheap.

Flat tappet cams need to have them gone as soon as I pulled the plug out of it. Wouldn't it be more plausible that there was no way the one I have, from Amazon](http://www.amazon.com/CrazyFire%C2%AE-Inspection-Waterproof-Borescope-Digital/dp/B00VD0QWMG).
