🎓 Reddit experts on specialty cookware
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where specialty cookware are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
First off, I would like to take a moment to say, "Happy Early Birthday Gospy55!"
1: I would love this warming buffet
for my annual Holiday Dinner!
2: My person that I selected as my loved one is my husband, Kevin. He is a big dorkasaurus, but I couldn't imagine my life without him. He has been in my life for almost 10 years, but I feel like he has always been with me and yet like it hasn't nearly been long enough. He is my spark that makes me laugh, and my rock for when I cry. He understands that I am special, even if I am a little "too special" sometimes. He laughs and shakes his head when I get my OCD moments, and didn't even get upset when he found my nail polish collection (70+ bottles). He pushes me to follow my dreams of baking and photography, and gladly eats my dinners with a smile, even if I am not fully happy with how they came out. He loves me for me, even if that me is a geeky, wonderful dork.
3: My husband Kevin, in all of my drawing glory
4: My number is 777, his lucky number
5: I so will!
Thank you so much for the contest! This was super fun and I am so glad to have the opportunity to do this!
Too bad - I guess a sous vide would be out on that basis. Others had great suggestions like doing a weekly meal prep at nearby grill (weather could be a constraint). University dorms or maybe a nearby park or housing complex could have something you could frequent. There may be decent ZC or at least low carb/keto options thru campus dining anyway.
Well I had a few other random thoughts as I considered how to best deal with your challenge.
Good luck! I don't think the economic aspect will be the issue here.
As per my Rabbit vet and the rescue organization I got my second rabbit from, I feed my rabbit hay and also unlimited pellets. I was giving pellets 2x a day and unlimited hay, but the woman at the rescue organization said she keeps her rabbits on unlimited pellets (along with unlimited hay, as every thing you will read pretty much agrees on).
I was using care fresh but I found it still smelled bad and was difficult to clean the litter box. I spoke to the vet about this when I took my male in to get desexed and she suggested using this [cat litter](Feline Pine Original Cat Litter, 20-Pound Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009YUEG2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_jmpAub19JK845) with hay on top as you mentioned. I was using corner litter boxes prior, but when I got a bigger living space for the buns I changed to a cat litter sized tray like [this](Rubbermaid #2951-AR BISQUE 11.4 QT Bisque Dish Pan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000DINAX/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_EupAub15DGBTM). I'm 10x happier with Feline Pine than any other bedding/litter stuff marketed for rabbits.
I also saw you keep the rabbit free range. How have you bunny proofed the room(s) he has access to? Has the rabbit been desexed yet? What kind of things are you providing for him to eat and drink? Do you have a water bottle or a water bowl?
I warn you: Everything below is going to sound complex, but they're really not. Everything is light on ingredients, but heavy on "holy crap, YOU made THIS?"
The next two are probably interchangeable for lunch/dinner, however they assume you have a grill (and a thermometer. do NOT cook pork tenderloin to 160F or I will find you. Medium rare (135F, maybe 140F) pork tenderloin is melt-in-your-mouth tender.
Also, make extra of the pickled onions and just leave them out on the table. Trust me, they'll disappear like candy.
idk If I can post this here but legit I am super into sous-vide and I did the egg thing as well but for the effort it didn't seem worth in my opinion from a quick breakfast pov bringing it to temp etc. etc. based on my mornings
Anyone interested should look into this
https://www.amazon.com/Egg-Poacher-COZILIFE-Build-Microwave/dp/B01LXBW1UI/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1_sspa?keywords=Egg+Poacher+%E2%80%93+COZILIFE&qid=1555626981&s=home-garden&sr=1-1-fkmrnull-spons&psc=1
Fucking fire it works perfectly I am obsessed with how easy and quick this is. bring the water to a boil.
and then just put them in and close the lid. 5 minutes no more no less for me and its always perfect always easy.
Not an ad or anything but it just seems more practical for me versus starting the sous vide and trying to find that perfect temp and then waiting for it to heat up etc etc.
I'm naturally lazy, so my quick and easy microwave breakfast dishes:
***
Four eggs in a microwave egg "poacher":
***
An omelet in this microwave bowl:
***
Cream cheese pancakes using that same bowl:
I can easily add a Farmer John Hot Link or a spicy sausage patty as a side with any of those. Only takes 40 seconds in the microwave to heat either up.
Heinz reduced sugar ketchup with the eggs. Or some salsa and sour cream.
Other breakfast options:
*
And, keep in mind that you can eat anything** for breakfast that fits your macros. Reheated pizza is delicious. :)
Next on my wish list. :)
Unfortunately, they're not cheap. I've considered the far less costly Presto Hot Topper, but it's more suited to sticks of butter than clarified. Plus, the capacity is too small for the amount of popcorn I tend to make.
Until that glorious day that I do have some extra cash to blow on a butter dispenser, I make due with a small slow cooker and a ladle. This easily accommodates 3-4 pounds of butter, plus it makes it very easy to skim the solids off the top after it melts. Enough clarified butter for gallons of popcorn! :)
Only on Reddit will you see an OP continually downvoted when he responds to comments that aren't actually answering his question, but telling him he doesn't need what he's asking for.
Yes, we're all aware that you can poach eggs without a dedicated pan, but the question wasn't, "What's the best method for poaching eggs?"
If he wants to use a cheap poaching pan instead of a regular pot or pan, what do any of us care?
OP, I've had this pan for a couple of years and it works great.
Excelsteel 18/10 Stainless 4 Non Stick Egg Poacher https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002CGSYBM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_D-kRwbKS05S5G
It's steel, not aluminum. It's stamped metal, nothing fancy and not an heirloom kinda thing. But for heating water and keeping eggs contained, it's fine. The eggs come out of the cups easily with a bit of Pam.
Moreover, it's quick, easy, and lets you think about other things.
Honestly, the "recipes" aren't complicated. It's mostly cutting and punching. A few tools go a long way.

If you enjoy this sort of thing, it's easy to get lost in Amazon's lists of related products.
Spend $30 on those tools and these lunches should take 10 mins to assemble in the morning. One of my biggest challenges is keeping a variety of foods on hand.
One quick & easy breakfast that I like, prep time less than 3 minutes:
Get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-Microwave-Cavity-Poacher/dp/B00004W4UR or ask the Internet "how to poach an egg in the microwave" for a free method.
Poach 2 eggs (1min 37 seconds in my micro, yours may vary slightly) then heat up 1/3 cup of salsa (a good, chunky one, no sugar or similar crap added) for about 30 seconds and then dump eggs in salsa . Experience deliciousness. ~180 calories.
Another fast option is make oatmeal on the weekend (I like adding a little cocoa powder so it's like a lumpy, healthy chocolate pudding). You can freeze it in 1-cup measurements in tupperware, then remove from tupperware once frozen and store your "oatmeal bricks" in a large freezer bag (that way you can make a huge batch and don't need to worry about it getting moldy if you decide to do eggs & salsa instead for a few days in a row). Punch all the ingredients into MFP and the # of servings you end up with, and it will tell you the per-serving calorie count. In the morning, grab a "brick" and microwave it for about 3 min. Yum!
I do a similar thing with stew, I have a freezer full of delicious "stew bricks" for when I'm in a rush or it's just a cold day and I want something heathy and warming.
Why do you "create a whirlpool?" No motion in the water, especially if you have more than one egg. That's how you mix things; probably why your water goes cloudy.

Use the freshest eggs you can get. The thing of straining the egg to get rid of the runny albumen and keep only the firm albumen shouldn't be necessary, except with older eggs.

Use a relatively deep pot of water, more like 4" than 2". Get the water simmering. Give yourself a handicap and use a little cup. They come in teflon-coated metal or silicone. Crack the egg into a teacup or a ramekin, or a very small bowl. When you're sure you didn't break the yolk or get any shell in it, gently, ever so gently, pour the egg into the cup. Then, cook it on the heat for 2 minutes, then turn off the heat. BUT, leave it in the pan for another 8-10 minutes.

EDIT: I forgot, the vinegar is a good thing. Acidulated water will help keep the whites together.

EDIT 2: simmering water; just barely simmering, definitely not boiling.

Best of luck!
Go Ben!
I think you should get the blue ukulele because it is blue, has a dolphin bridge, and would just be cool. I have always wanted to learn to play the ukulele...
Either that or buy this because breakfast is by far the best meal of the day and I have heard the most important! Plus then you could save the rest for something big!
For breakfast, get a microwave egg cooker like this one or this one if you want more than two, and then buy the following at Costco: eggs, cheese slices, microwaveable bacon, and English muffins. Toast muffin(s), nuke bacon 45 - 60 seconds depending on your microwave, and nuke eggs for 50 or so seconds. Layer together with cheese. Voila! Delicious breakfast sandwich in under 5 minutes.
Edit to say: For convenience type items, I really like their microwaveable quiches. They're a four pack of a couple different kinds and they turn out pretty well in the microwave.
I know this may be cheating but I have a toaster/egg poacher combo that makes a pretty mean breakfast sandwich. There's a tray for hard boiling up to four eggs and a spot to heat up a piece of ham or sausage. Pretty much it's the greatest kitchen thing I have ever purchased.
Here
Easy to use, easy to clean - best thing I've bought in a year.
Replacement silicone rings, they work well but absorb and pass on strong smells.
1 for broth, 1 for Japanese or Thai Curry, 1 fir steaming, etc.
Another very useful item are these silicin moulds. Silicone Egg Bites Molds for Instant Pot Accessories - Fits Instant Pot 5,6,8 qt Pressure Cooker, Reusable Storage Container, Baby Food Container and Freezer Tray with Lid (Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077FWR7X9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8HF1Bb3C7AVJN
Beyond that steamer baskets and the glass lid. I also keep a 2nd pot, so I can make something while the other is washed.
We just call it the yellow half boiled egg maker, and it’s used in traditional coffee shops here. Found a listing on Amazon.
The description says: “This Perfect Half-Boiled Egg Cooker is extremely easy to use. Simply add up-to 4 eggs to the container and pour boiling water inside. Then wait until the water drops to the container at the bottom and your perfect half boiled eggs are done!”
In my country it costs only $3.
I wouldn't recommend having more than one meal repeat every day, since you can be missing lots of necessary nutrients. Try different types of fruit instead of just bananas. Apples, oranges, kiwis, strawberries, plums and all that just to keep it fresh.
Eggs are also super easy to make every now and then, especially with a microwavable poacher. Pop in the toast, microwave the eggs, and then you have delicious eggs on toast.
Just get a big box of the quaker oats rolled oatmeal, add water or skim milk and toss it in the microwave for 2 minutes.
And I highly recommend something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-Microwave-Cavity-Poacher/dp/B00004W4UR
Pop it in the microwave microwave for a minute, bam, you have cooked eggs. I use mine all the time. Use a little nonstick spray before cooking and you can wash it out in about 30 seconds.
Chicken salad is a solid lunch. I often also just make a double portion of something healthy for dinner and use it the next day for lunch as well.
I got away from grains entirely in the morning by making 2 poached eggs in a microwave poacher and 1 sliced of microwave-cooked bacon both of which I cook in my office kitchen. I throw in a piece of fruit for my morning sweet tooth. I am really happy with this and it keeps me satisfied until lunch
It's pretty good, considering the price and free shipping.
It's great for hard-boiled eggs (up to four at a time), although every once in a while one of them explodes and makes a mess. This used to happen to me all the time before I stopped buying extra-large eggs.
Also, wipe down the water-heating thing when it cools. Once egg residue gets cooked on, it's hard to clean. (The rest of the pieces can just go in the dishwasher.)
Another minor gripe is that if you cook eggs and toast at the same time, the toast doesn't pop up until the egg is finished, and by then the toast has cooled. Still, just a minor inconvenience.
Oh, and watch your fingers when pulling off the egg-cooking cover. No, seriously, steam is hot. I usually push down on the plastic handle for a few seconds to let some steam out the other side before pulling it up. And don't cook eggs underneath any wooden furniture; steam rises.
Altogether, I like it. It cooks toast. And it also cooks eggs. Simple enough.
http://www.amazon.com/Back-Basics-TEM500-Muffin-2-Slice/dp/B000B18P96
The text is pretty funny, but I was more concerned about how many perfect sammiches I could make with that. I'm in for one.
I haven't tried it personally, but a quick google search shows a number of attempts by other people. (e.g. here's a post titled "Baked Eggs in a Muffin Tin".) I'm more familiar with cooking eggs in either individual ramekins that you place in a pot of simmering water and cover with a lid, or with an "egg poacher" (like this) rather than using a muffin tray and baking them though. Jacques Pepin has a number of examples of cooking eggs in ramekins (oeufs en cocotte, in French), which you might find interesting. Here's a short clip demonstrating it, and there's a longer segment about the same dish including more details about sauces, garnishes, and variants in Essential Pepin: Egg-ceptional if you like the idea.
Cheat.
I finally gave up trying freehand. Yes, this thing is useless for anything else, yes it takes up space, yes I probably paid too much for this single-use kitchen thing, but perfect eggs benny for daaaays...
Man, that sucks. Never had stitching ripped before. I'd go with two options.
Handwash them in the tub or buy a wash bucket and clean it in that. Something like this. Bleach free of course.
Otherwise, you could also use the laundry bags. I use these to wash my covers on gentle cycle.
I also have one of these, which isn't "poaching" technically speaking, but the end result is pretty much the same. They are foolproof.
What an awesome friend!
Whilst we're talking about poaching, I'm a fan of of Poachpods - they can also be used in the microwave although you need to prick the egg right through to the yolk first.
This is what you need.
About the best $7 you can spend in your kitchen. No muss, no fuss. Two of these, some simmering water, and you get perfect poached eggs. Every. Single. Time. And they're silly easy to clean, and take up almost no room to store. Good stuff.
What Le Crueset items would you trade for a cherry Morocan tagine? Got a decent mid sized Dutch oven you'd like to trade? The tagine has been used twice, and is essentially new minus the box.
Edit: I'd also be interested in a good heavy, lidded sauce pan.
I cook a pack of bacon or sausage on Sunday and it eat throughout the week with some microwave poached eggs. They're way better than they sound and only take 1 minute to cook. I use one of [these] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00004W4UR/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1525624113&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=poached+egg+maker+microwave&dpPl=1&dpID=31wtCfwsirL&ref=plSrch) gimmicky things, but it works very well. You should be able to use something like a coffee mug too.
You can do 4 at a time hard-boiled in this: http://www.amazon.com/Back-Basics-TEM500-Muffin-2-Slice/dp/B000B18P96
Or poach one. And it's a toaster. I have it and love it.
It is nice for doing eggs since you can hit the button and walk away.
So sorry guys! Posted and went to sleep.
62.8°C for 45 minutes. Eggs were 700g and were in room temperature. I made 4 at a go, 2 for me and 2 for SO. I'm guessing size and number of eggs will make a difference.
To be honest, I find that it's sometimes easier to make eggs like these using the old school way back when I was in Malaysia. Cooks up to 4 eggs at one time. All you do is put the eggs in and pour hot water in, let it drip slowly into the container below and you're done!
Edit: Forgot to mention that I also smoked these bad boys with a smoking gun. Works well. Other thoughts are maybe drizzle some pesto over instead of smoking it.
Siphon coffee set. Most entertaining way to make coffee out there. Get it with a little butane burner to make your life easier.
Even easier yet: a microwave egg poacher. Crack a couple eggs, stab them with a fork, microwave for 1 minute, add whatever toppings you want, and you're good to go. I use this thing all the time, and it really is amazing.
Or you can:
700 calories of delicious and nutritious breakfast that I can eat in the car on the way to work.
Time: 5 min (I've got it down to ~4 min, actually), which is less time than I was spending in the drive-thru every morning getting a pair of sausage mcmuffins and hashbrowns.
Cost: $1.25
The "time to cook" excuse is bullshit we tell ourselves because we'd rather spend equal or more time waiting for someone else to make us food that's tastier but not as healthy for us - and almost always more expensive.
Let alone the time savings if you pre-cook a large batch of meals each week or two. Sure, you'll have less variety, but the food can still be delicious, nutritious, and more affordable.
been using this every single day since i got it for christmas. love it. $34 on amazon

show this gift some love!
I haven't been here long, so it hasn't been on my list a long time but I really want this [egg poacher.] (http://www.amazon.com/Norpro-Non-Stick-4-Egg-Poacher/dp/B0000W03XC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1PRII2BIRNFS3&coliid=I8FFLCY1528S9). I really want to make some eggs benedict!
This pump dispenser isn't terribly priced at $140

You could put a cheese jar possibly inside this tub and put some water in the tub below the jar top to help even the temperature.
Damn it now I want one. :)
I'm not saying you need these but...

These are far more fun than they should be.
So many people say to stir it and that has always ended up as eggwater for me. I find vinegar, sliding it in from a shallow bowl, and using a slotted spoon to keep it together to be the best tactic.
But if you don’t want to practice you can always cheat.

I love mine!
Honestly, if you have the time to eat a bowl of cereal, you have the time to make a few eggs in the microwave. Those microwaveable egg cookers work really well, and they are done in less than two minutes. Might wanna try it someday and see just how it works.
looks like they used something like this https://smile.amazon.com/Silicone-Bites-Molds-Instant-Accessories/dp/B077FWR7X9/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1543384494&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=egg+mold+instant+pot&psc=1
I have this one and I love it.

You need this.
I have one. They're awesome.
well, it's a good thing you're living in the future

I'd really like a toaster, specially one that poaches an egg as well. http://www.amazon.com/Back-Basics-TEM500--Muffin-2-Slice/dp/B000B18P96/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1367798944&sr=8-2&keywords=toaster+with+egg+cooker
That's good, using the app is the first step.
Can you eat smaller portions of what you've been eating? Cut out the unsatiating parts. For example, if you eat fast food, order neither fries nor soda and don't eat the bun.
> eat that is both filling and low calorie (and cheap)
Some people find different foods satiating. But these two are pretty common recommendations:
I assume you're the first person in the kitchen, so you should clean and season the grill before you use it. Whoever was using it the night before should have cleaned it, but you can't season the grill the night before at closing, so it's not really their fault it's not seasoned.
And like people said above temperature is key, but what the dial reads will depend on your grill. Some people keep one side a little lower for home fries. When I worked on a grill I had home fries on one side, then a space for pancakes and then the eggs on the hottest side, but not so hot that they would bubble up.
One place I worked had rings for the eggs and they worked OK for keeping the eggs from spreading out too much. They come in different sizes.
I have a whisk with a small silicone ball on the end of each wire. Perfect for mixing a sauce or a gravy in a non-stick pan.
And, of course, Poach Pods.
I use basically this to poach my eggs and they turn out beautifully in the microwave
Ok my bad, I always thought crack pot referred to Tajine, but I see there's tons of electrical ones. Thanks for clarifying!
I have this
Which can hard boil 4 eggs at a time, its amazing. When I bought it, it was 19.99 on amazon....
I dont know why the price went up.
The piece with the ball on top should fold 90 degrees upward. Like this:

See above comment - mine's already on order! I went with this one. I wish I hadn't given my backpacking stove to my brother when I left for college - I could have used it for this perfectly!
Something like the bottom of this should cover both drip pan and heat diffuser. (found you an amazon uk link) as long as its not too snug and taking up too much room.

You're welcome.
here's a good little burner
Breakfast salad: if you can boil water you can make this. Takes about 1 minute of actual work.
You'll need: 2 eggs, handful of your favorite greens, 1 slice of bread, Poach Pods ($9 for two on Amazon), salt and pepper to season
250 calories, 19g of carbs, 12g of fat, 17g of protein , 3g of sugar
I use these. They taste way better than the egg cup pan, which I also own.
Maybe just microwave them? I'm assuming your going to have to heat them up again in the microwave to defrost, just crack a raw egg in a plastic/glass bowl sprayed with pam.
or get something like this :

Back to Basics TEM500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher by Back to Basics http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000B18P96/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_lfgvtb17EE9WQ
Amazon carries it as well
I use a dish pan and put it on top my cutting board with a towel in between. Raises it up high enough so I don't really have to bend much.
Like this: https://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-11-4-Dish-Pan-Bisque/dp/B0000DINAX
The way we've done it in the past is that we crack the egg into a ladle, I give the vinagar'd water a good spin (but not hard enough to make the water dimple more than about an inch down), and then we dump the egg into the vortex. The 'shreds' of egg that spin off wrap around the egg, and then as the spinning slows we fish it out.
There's also these cool little silicone egg poaching cups that you float.
Interestingly, square eggs are not.

That computer scientist was ahead of his time.
Behold the Back to Basics TEM500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher.
Yes, that's right: "back to basics".
Wow that's gonna be hard. You can go waay 90s, and use microwave egg poachers/bacon racks/griddle/steamer. We had one of those egg poacher things when I was a kid and it worked fine for a long time. I wouldn't expect any of those things to last forever, but they're cheap and should last you at least a couple years.
With those, obviously you could make bacon & eggs. You could also steam cauliflower for cauli mash?
I like this one. It will hard-boil eggs, too.
They also sell these little silicon things that work extremely well and are reusable.
By the way, microwaving eggs works very well, if you use the right cookware. I use this type in hotels when I'm on the road.
e.g.: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007PC4FAM?
And it's at a fair price of only $34.00
If you wanna change things up with the "scrambled" eggs, might I suggest a microwave egg poacher? Bought this on a friend's recommendation at Wegmans for about $3 - it rocks. 1 minute for 2 eggs (semi-soft). :D
Also, upboats for 24 hour clock usage. And damn, full until 18:00, that's impressive!
I cook on Saturday and Sunday, put it into storage containers, and eat through the week.
For breakfast, I have a bowl of Special K or I fire up this --> http://www.amazon.com/Back-Basics-TEM500-Muffin-2-Slice/dp/B000B18P96/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1267750494&sr=8-3 and make a breakfast sandwich.
Do you have a recipe for that? It looks dank! 10/10!
Yep

If you want another eggy option, I steam poach eggs at home, chill them in ice water, then warm them up in a water bath at work.
This $30 that'll change your life.
Also, this and this and this and this and my very first Amazon order placed August 27, 1998 for this

Forget all the nonsense of vinegar and chasing the eggs with a spoon.
Get a set of poach pods and you'll have perfectly poached eggs every time.
I have some of these that are made from silicone, so they're flexible and egg doesn't leak out of the bottom.

I do!

Stay away from the generic Chinese ones that sort of look like these, they're all garbage.
it occurs to me a silicon egg ring may form a better water seal.
http://www.amazon.com//dp/B0047Q5X4Q
interesting idea i will try when i sear inside my pressure cooker.
it suffers from a hot spot in the center, so i can use oil along
the edge and keep the water circle for steam in the middle.
will let you know if it helped in a day or two.
I think they're just called 'egg rings', or _____ rings depending on how they're marketed. Examples:
http://www.amazon.com/Amco-Round-Egg-Rings-Set/dp/B000XKFR32
http://www.amazon.com/Nonstick-4-Piece-Egg-Pancake-Ring/dp/B00005EBGU

Had a different version but same idea, they work.
Thats nothing compared to this.
I see your Egg McMuffin recipe and raise you this magical device:
http://www.amazon.com/Back-Basics-TEM500-Muffin-2-Slice/dp/B000B18P96
My roommate and I call ours "The Egginator". Egg McMuffin while you brush your teeth. It even has a tray for heating up a sausage patty at the same time if that's what you're into (and I am).
For the lazy.
Another 10 bucks and you can get one that cooks an egg too
Egg Ring. Fry egg surrounded by this, in a pan or on BBQ.
Edit: Found it
Link so you all can have this wonderful device
This is an actual thing for sale in stores (Amazon and Target both have it for $33).
I cheat.
Technically, what you get isn't poached eggs. For me, it's close enough.
Some toasters make eggs spontaneously in the presence of grain and water. Others get shipped.

I'd recommend this instead. Can't make a scramble in it, but it's really fast and not difficult to clean if you do it right after you empty it.
I use these and they're very easy to deal with. You have to keep an eye on them just like you would when poaching without pods, but they keep it all from turning into egg flower soup if you're having a problem keeping the egg together while it's poaching.
Not positive, but my mom bought me PoachPods.
https://www.amazon.com/Fusionbrands-Set-Silicone-Poach-Pods/dp/B000P6FD3I
I haven't tried them so I don't know how well they work.
I love freaking people out with square deviled eggs! I tell 'em they came from square chickens!!
While that might be a toaster, [THIS](http://www.amazon.com/Back-Basics-TEM500-Muffin-2-Slice/dp/B000B18P96 "There is no hover text. Just click it.") is a toaster.... That also cooks eggs.
I do it the lazy way.
My sister had the same problem. My suggestion to her (and you) is just to cheat
ETA: fixed link
If you’re really still struggling you should just Use some of these egg poaching cups or the egg poaching tray.
Usually I just make soft boiled eggs tho.
I prefer my eggs poached, but am lazy in the mornings so I bought this gadget a couple years ago. It works wonders.
