K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple, Stupid. Words to live by!

Gloves. Just your standard Nitrile gloves. I have a box in my closet with about 5 pair in my truck. Although with Texas summers here, I'd bet they've melted together by now. I should really check on that...

Safety Glasses Any brand will do. Just look for ANSI Z87.1. You'll probably never use them, or 90% of what's in your bag, but they're nice to have on hand.

Knife w/seat belt cutter & window punch. This is mine. I keep it on my trucks visor when I'm driving, and on me when I'm not. Cheap and useful. A little big though.

Simple Breathing mask. Always good to have around.

Gauze Rolls & Gauze Pads. I've used these a couple times, all on myself. I have the uncanny ability to fall when running outdoors. It's truly a gift.

Large SAM Splint. Surprisingly I've used two in only a year of building my kit. Once for myself, colles fracture from tripping, and the second time for a friend who slipped in my kitchen. We're not the most coordinated bunch.

And if you're feeling adventuress (sp?), Emergency Blanket, Cold Pack, & a Hot Pack. These aren't necessary, but nice to have if you have some extra $$$ to burn.

This is all i carry in my truck medical wise. It's also a good idea to have a flashlight on your vehicle or in the bag. Don't waste money on anything "fancy". You'll never use them and if you do you'll probably get sued.

I received a pre-stocked jump bag from a family member as a gift for getting my EMT cert. Came with OPA's, C-Collar, Adult/Pedi BVM, & a couple suture kits. These are no-no's. Good Samaritan laws won't protect you if you use these. DON'T BUY/USE THEM WHEN NOT ON A RIG! (The suture kits are another matter...just don't) I took these out of my bag completely.

TL;DR K.I.S.S. Avoid anything a non-EMS person couldn't use.

Beginner Loadout: This is the best value-for-money starter kit in airsoft without buying used, and includes all the necessities for indoor airsoft play. If you plan to play outdoors, you should add appropriate footwear with ankle support to your list, and switch the linked BBs for biodegradable ammunition. You should wear clothing you already own appropriate for strenuous exercise in your climate.

Your first airsoft gun is the most important purchase you will make in airsoft. As your only weapon it must be versatile, reliable, affordable, reasonably high-performance, easy to work on, and compatible with as many accessories and upgrades as possible. This means buying an AEG assault rifle or SMG; forget about sniper rifles, pistols, GBBs and other restrictive exotica until you have more money, more experience, and at least one backup weapon.

This loadout is intended solely as an example and is only one way to construct a beginner's loadout. It is based around the AK platform because airsoft AKs are typically better value for money than ARs. The CYMA CM045 used as a primary weapon here has a stamped steel receiver and metal external components. G&G's CM16 range (the cheapest AR-platform AEG we will recommend) has plastic receivers and mostly plastic external components. It is lighter and similarly rugged, but feels less realistic. If you want to change the primary weapon, bear in mind that you'll need to change most other things in the loadout. Other primary weapons we would recommend as part of a beginner's loadout include:

  • G&G's Combat Machine ARs, all of which are roughly equivalent. For more information, reply 'airsoftbot beginner AR loadout'.
  • CYMA's CM040x, CM045x, CM048x and CM050x AKs, all of which are roughly equivalent. You can exchange the CM045A in the loadout below with any of the aforementioned CYMAs without needing to change anything else (with the possible exception of the battery).
  • APS' UAR V2.

    You will need:

Status | Equipment | Model | Price (Asia) | Price (US) | Comment
    ---|---|---|---|---|----
Mandatory | Eye Protection | Revision Desert Locust (Foliage Green) | ~$20 | ~$20 | BBs are entirely capable of blinding you. Wear full-seal, appropriately-rated (ANSI-Z87.1 or EN166 'B') eyewear when using airsoft guns. These are military-grade goggles that are compatible with upgrades (below) to resist fogging; please reply 'airsoftbot fogging' for more information. An Asian-fit model is also available. Most airsoft is played against a predominantly green background; if you play in a tan environment, switch to the Desert Tan model. If you use corrective lenses, please reply 'airsoftbot glasses' for more information. These are available from eBay, surplus shops and other outlets.
Optional | Eye Protection | Revision SnowHawk Thermal Lens | $28 | $28 | Dual-pane ('thermal') lenses help resist fogging. These lenses are compatible with both the regular (above) and fan (below) Desert Locusts in both regular- and Asian-fit.
Optional | Eye Protection | Revision Desert Locust Fan (Foliage Green) | $170 | $150 | These are a variant of the Desert Locust that use a battery-powered fan to circulate air through the goggles, resisting fogging; please reply 'airsoftbot fogging' for more information. The Desert Locust is the only platform that can pair dual-pane lenses with fan goggles for maximum anti-fog. An Asian-fit model is also available. Most airsoft is played against a predominantly green background; if you play in a tan environment, switch to the Desert Tan model. If you use corrective lenses, please reply 'airsoftbot glasses' for more information.
Mandatory | Lower-Face Protection | Mesh Lower Mask | $7 | $13 | BBs are entirely capable of breaking your teeth. Wear a mask when using airsoft guns.
Mandatory | Primary Weapon | CYMA CM045A | $135 | $150 | A clone of the VFC evolution of the TM AK-47, this is a compact, rugged, reliable, versatile and upgradeable full-metal gun for very little money. The short barrel doesn't affect range or accuracy at all, but combined with the folding stock makes this gun effective even in CQB.
Optional | Mid-Cap Magazine (x3) | CYMA 150rd | $8 | $12 | Quieter, simpler and more realistic than the factory hi-cap. Buy enough to fill the Chicom rig (below).
Optional | Speed Loader | 200rd | $6 | $14 | Necessary for loading midcaps, but useful when you buy a pistol too.
Optional | Load-Bearing Equipment | Type 56 AK/Type 81 Chicom Rig | ~$15 | ~$15 | Originally issued by the PRC's PLA, these are rugged, simple, widespread, and above all extremely affordable. You should be looking at the Type 56 AK (3 magazine) or Type 81 (4 magazine) rigs only; there are a number of variants so make sure what you are purchasing is suitable. These carry everything you need and nothing you don't, keeping you agile and fast, and are much better value than low-budget clone airsoft-grade gear. These are available from eBay, surplus shops and other outlets.
Mandatory | Battery (x2) | Turnigy Nano-Tech 2000mAh 2S (7.4V) 15~25C LiPo | $10 | $10 | LiPo batteries are cheaper and higher-performance than obsolete NiMH chemistries. Airsoft retailers grossly overprice batteries, which should be purchased from HobbyKing instead. Two batteries should be sufficient for a day's play.
Mandatory | Battery Charger | Turnigy E3 Compact | $13 | $13 | This will simply charge your batteries to full capacity.
Mandatory | Battery Tester | Turnigy Deluxe Tester/Balancer | $12 | $13 | This balances the battery's cells and displays current charge state, preventing over-discharge which can damage the battery.
Mandatory | Ammunition | 0.25g | $16 | $13 | 0.25g BBs are a good compromise for common energy levels. Cheap ammunition can damage your gun; don't buy very cheap BBs.
    | | | Total: | ~$225 | ~$250 |

Please note that the links above are provided solely by way of example and do not necessarily represent the cheapest possible places to purchase, or combinations of, the equipment. For example, retailers will occasionally bundle starter packs that include the CM045 and a very cheap NiMH battery and charger combination. This is often cheaper and will suffice temporarily, but you should not invest further money in obsolete chemistries.

I would not use lenspen for multiple uses. It will scratch your lenses.

I use this first to remove dust, gently like removing finger prints :

Matin Camera Lens Cleaner Brush - Goat Hair / Small https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004FPOVEM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XJ2QDb94HFVKF

Than I use this to clean lens gently again :

MCSUB700 - MCR Anti-fog Premoistened Towelettes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004Z29L9K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QK2QDbPM631TZ

You will have a perfectly clean lens with no scratches. Trust me. I used that on my original Vive too and it worked perfectly each time. The lens look like new.

Good luck.

u/_hester_ · 1 pointr/ar15

After about 25 years of not owning anything except a bolt-action rifle and a breach-loading shotgun, I jumped into the AR-15 world nearly two years ago, and now I'm well-and-truly hooked. I'm still a huge nub, so don't take my advice too seriously.

There's a lot to learn just in one platform. But, don't let that keep you from getting both an AR and an AK.

Learning AKs feels overwhelming for completely different reasons than ARs. That said, I am always impressed with how well my AK performs, and how comfortable it is to shoot.

If you haven't already, head over to /r/ak47 and check out the buyer's guide so you don't make a big mistake early on. The oft recommended WASR 10 is considered the best starter AK for the money. Lurk /r/gundeals for a shot at getting one on sale; they've been seen for less than $550 recently which is better than they were pre-election.

I do have to caution you: Accessories and customization for an AK is a completely different game than ARs. You might find that your "cheap plinker" rifle ends up costing you more to trick out, resulting in the same net cost-of-ownership as an AR shooting slightly more expensive ammo. If you end up happy with a stock AK, though, it's a great investment, and a welcome break from sending .22 cal downrange.

All that said, I think if you're picking a semi-auto purely on the basis of budget and having fun hitting targets, this is what I would highly recommend (after wasting a lot of money on stuff I didn't like):

u/PyroticMadness · 2 pointsr/airsoft

Do you have eye protection? Something that can withstand impacts? If not, grab some.

Pyramex I-force or a paintball mask should work, and for that price there aren't too many AEG rifles worth grabbing.

However, there might be a few GBBP pistols on Evike for your price point.

The VP9, for example.

That, plus a CO2 pack would be just a little over your budget. You might be disadvantaged in terms of range compared to his AEG.

Gas guns also require a little more love than AEGs and aren't recommended starters due to (after a few skirmishes) the maintenance associated with them.

I recommend you save up a little more for something like a G&G Raider, as they're fantastic beginner guns.

However, safety is paramount and you should really invest in eye/face protection before anything else.

Have fun.

> The article you linked... doesn't support what I think you're saying?

Yes I know it doesn't support what I'm saying!! Jesus, how can you misread me so badly?? I was saying, 'this is probably the sort of thing you support!' Feminists who are against the movement for genital autonomy! I'm an intactivist, that means I am in favour of genital integrity for all. Contrasted with people like you and the feminist professor I linked who believe that the "religious reasons for men’s “mutilation” are fundamentally different from the arguments that drive the wounding of women", and so on.

> The third paragraph of the wikipedia article you linked... also says the exact opposite of what you're saying, that it is about control of women's sexuality

How is that "the exact opposite of what you're saying"? Where did I claim that FGM is not about control of women's sexuality?? Just because you don't accept that it is a form of 'patriarchal oppression' does not mean that it is not about control of women's sexuality; these things do not necessarily follow. Hell, if you read the masculist book Anatomy of female power he says it is done to reduce women's sex drive thus giving them more 'bargaining power' in relationships and marriage, i.e. less sex drive => less desire to get married => more ability to get material rewards for men in return for marriage. Not that I 100% accept that to be true, but it is a theory that is arguably to do with control of women's sexuality in a gynocentric social setting, not patriarchal.

> Cutting of foreskin is not as bad as cutting off a clitoris or sewing a vagina mostly shut

lol, you just picked those out of the several forms of FGM for what reason exactly? There are several more types of FGM than that, and you clearly know it, because you mentioned "type 1A" above.

> FGM is worse

MGM is more widely practised. What is done in your country; is FGM done much there?

> ...and shouldn't be minimized by equivocating it with circumcision

How is it "minimizing" it?? You just said you think it's "indefensible" yet you say to compare male and female circumcision to downplaying the former. I could link you videos and images of MGM that would make you sick to your stomach, and articles of kids that have fucking died; how you can possibly think it is 'minimizing' FGM to relate the two I have no idea.

  • Done for similar reasons

  • Often done in the same parts of the world

  • Often one by the same practitioners

  • Many of the same outcomes (septicaemia, blood loss, scarring, sexual dysfunction)

  • Done as a 'rite of passage'

See http://blog.practicalethics.ox.ac.uk/2014/02/female-genital-mutilation-and-male-circumcision-time-to-confront-the-double-standard/ Long, but worth reading in full, if you are really committed to learning about this stuff. That is from Brian D. Earp, an Oxford University, England (one the world's top unis.) Research Associate, BTW.

At the end of the day it the exact same people and organisations who can and should be campaigning against both simultaneously, (World Health Organisation, United nations, Save the Children, etc.), but people like you keep trying to keep the spotlight on girls and women, I'm guessing for paternalistic and chivalrous reasons.

I ride with simple safety glasses. They aren’t sealed to your face but it’s a much tighter fit than sunglasses. They’re also cheap and designed to protect against stuff flying into your face.

These are only a few bucks, will probably last you a year or more and come in tinted variants.

The only time I don’t have these are sometimes in the rain (when I take them off) and sometimes if it gets below ~10-15F I’ll wear something else.

I also wear them all day at work, they’re super comfortable.

u/BenzoV · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

If you're looking for something less bulky, I like these Pyramex Fortress Safety Glasses. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UYGR78/

I use them regularly for commuting in spring/fall and night riding. They wrap around pretty well and have a nice field of vision. Keep them clean and they do a decent job of resisting fog, though now I re-apply quick-spit anti-fog regularly to keep them clear.

u/Getsmkedouthere · 2 pointsr/airsoft

The combat machine is an amazing beginners rifle and I can vouch for it personally. Definitely the right choice there. I'm not too experienced with chest rigs and what not so I can't help you there, but the one thing I have to absolutely stress is that you shouldn't cheap out on eye pro. I'm not certain of the quality of those goggles, but for $13 I wouldn't expect much out of them. Unless someone recommended that specific pair to you from personal experience, I would pick up a nice pair of Revision Goggles. I've heard great things about them and have used a pair my stepdad had left over from the national guard and they worked amazingly. If you can spare the extra, I would definitely research it and get good eye pro.

Great job booking early. I booked a rental home last January with direct access to a network of Forest Service roads that wind north into the maximum totality zone, which means no need to deal with highway traffic. I've pinpointed two buttes with unobstructed views, including west to the Cascade range, which gives us a chance of seeing the moon's shadow race across the landscape moments before totality.

Be sure to pick up sun filter glasses--I grabbed a 10 pack of these glasses, which work like a charm. You can stare at the sun directly wearing them, which is endlessly fascinating as you can see interesting solar details.

Not the ones pictured, but uvex has some models with a pretty wide bridge like you are looking for. I used to use these in Chem labs. I didn't use them with a respirator, but they did have a noticeably wider bridge and were very comfortable. Worth a shot to try with a respirator.

I'll get you something to tinker about until then, taken from the discord:

Circadian:

Your circadian rythm is set by blue light and food intake (also partly by temperature and physical activity); to keep it intact it's wise to keep a 6-8 (preferably 8) hour dark period (with only red light allowed, see !darkperiod) coinciding with an 8-12 hour fasting period. Both the dark period and the fasting should start 2h prior to the core. Not doing so has a major influence on your core's sleep quality, and leads to elevated risks of getting diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
If your core doesn't start 20-24 it is wise to have the dark period be slightly cooler than the rest of the day. In this case getting a daylight lamp to use outside of the dark period is also recommended.
Also try to limit physical activities during the dark period.

Darkperiod:

Melatonin is essential for entering SWS, however it's production is delayed by all light types except red. Because of this all non-red light types should be completly blocked off during the dark period, which should start 2h prior to the core (first core on DC schedules, night core on Triphasic) and continue for 6-8h (preferably 8h) after that. The reason it should continue even after your wake time (if you have a short core) is to ensure the stability of the circadian rhythm. Darkness is stil prefered over red light, so using night themes is the best option. The light blocking can be done by either wearing blue-green light blocking glasses or by using programs such as F.lux, sunsetscreen etc on a low kelvin setting (around 1000K). Having red lightbulbs is also an option.

Schedule line specifics
DC: if your cores are within 5h from eachother the dark period should cover the whole core gap.
E: if the first nap is relativly close to the core you should have the dark period extended until the end of it.
Triphasic: the gap between the night and dawn cores should be covered in the dark period

For why this is important, see !circadian

Nap-eat:

Eat a regular meal around 2-3h before a nap (digestion before sleep), or after a nap. Some light snacks are ok within 1-2h before nap.

I got you covered, fam.

Wearing 'em right now, as a matter of fact. These ones are ideal for me since I wear glasses and I can wear these over them. But they make regular sunglass versions, if you prefer that.

One thing to note, these aren't to be used as a replacement for sunglasses. You'll have trouble distinguishing the colors on stoplights. Long story short, these are for home use, or office use (if you don't mind getting odd looks from people.) Pros outweigh the cons, IMO.

This are great if you have migraine issues induced by looking at blue light from screens and monitors. And I always wear it an hour before falling asleep. It helps beyond belief. And yes, these are perfect for late-night Switch gaming.

I love regular 3M clears. The shape is great at blocking the wind. It's all I use now. I have matching darks for daytime use. When not using a helmet I tie a bandana tight across the top of the glasses.

A little birdie told me they work fine at blocking the wind while riding a literbike at 150mph.

I'm a googles man too, I feel they're more protective than normal safety glasses. But I when I can't use them Something like these are my go to. I usually use re usable rubbery ear plugs when outside, I double up with my lawn mowing ear muffs for an indoor range.

I've got a reversible balaclava, bright orange on one side and grey on the other. Army surplus trigger mittens are the best.

u/Irishpersonage · 0 pointsr/airsoft

Welcome to the sport! It's a blast.

For fields, check here: https://airsoftc3.com/fields

You can always rent a gun and mask at the field you play at, although the quality won't be too great.

The first thing you should spend money on is good eye and face protection. I recommend either these or these goggles, and this face mask.

Don't worry about buying all the kit at the start. You'll find out what type of gear, camo, gun etc. you prefer after playing a few times.

For your first gun, look into AEG's. Don't spend less than $100, but you don't need to spend more than $200. CYMA, CA, JG, there are some high-quality affordable AEG's out there that will last a long time.

Have fun, and prepare your wallet lol

I believe the Sierras are actually Pyramex's V2G-XP goggles. Regardless, they're pretty great for what you pay for! I see a lot of people use these goggles. I still manage to fog them though...hence my love for the Bollé X810 goggles.

u/Mr_Elroy_Jetson · 1 pointr/BellsPalsy

you can get safety googles (clear) that look an awful lot like regular glasses. So long as it does a pretty good job of sealing off your open eye, that could work.

Something like https://www.amazon.com/3M-Virtua-Glasses-Polycarbonate-Anti-Scratch/dp/B00AEFBLW2/ref=sr_1_8?crid=15Y4BOZVVMNJ1&keywords=3m+virtua+safety+glasses&qid=1555941377&s=gateway&sprefix=3m+virtua%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-8

Just an idea.

u/lWatsonl · 1 pointr/airsoft

The goggles are Pyramex V2G PLUS. They have thermal lenses so they a decent at keeping fogging at bay. I have a prototype of a fan modification I added to them to eliminate any chance of fogging. I'm still testing and tweaking that. I plan to post up more details about that soon.

The mask is OneTigris 6" Foldable Half Face Mesh Mask. I added snaps to the sides to easily attach and remove it from my helmet.

Smith and Wesson always worked well for me. I prefer the wrap-around shop-style when shooting anything I'm even mildly concerned about. I've also got a bunch of this style in my range bag for loaners, along with some inexpensive ear pro, both of which will fit over prescription glasses.

You can also go for the dork gold with the goggle-style safety glasses, like this, which will help keep stuff from fogging and slipping around. Or, alternately, snowboard / skiing goggles. I'll confess to having rocked ski goggles and a ski mask during one particularly freeze-my-balls-off coyote hunt in the snow.

u/malevolentQ · 10 pointsr/doughboys

The breakfast nook tree ghosts, the wet wood storage exterior ("this used to be a hardware store, but that was a long time ago"), Wiger eating taco seasoning straight from the packet, so much gold in this episode...

Also that sunglasses thing works! These are the best ones

u/GoodOlChap · 1 pointr/BurningMan

I ended up going with these guys

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005E06C6M/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the price they are darn good, not too dark not to be un-usable at night (but it was 2008/09 last time I saw a good evening dust storm), but you could get the clear ones also. Ive had cheaper other type of pairs but they fogged or broke.

These are a bit more bulky then other options but still less than normal ski ones.

They didn't fog up and I didn't cry why cutting onions, I'm sold on them. I might buy a clear pair for a spare and just incase with them but the dark really isnt that bad... in fact I am typing in a dark room with them on right now and I can see my keyboard just fine from the light of the monitor. They were dark enough not to have to sequent with them on outside too. Not polarized (only real beef)

u/Push-Pull · 1 pointr/MechanicAdvice

I really like these for anything I do grinding-wise. Not getting any grit in your eyeballs with these, and they fit over my normal glasses. Gotta agree with having a face shield as well.

Bonus, you get that mad scientist/bomber/nuclear/steampunk look out of it.

u/nod2121 · 1 pointr/ValveIndex

I haven't had any fogging issues either but then again to help prevent any of it, I've been cleaning my lenses with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Z29L9K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So that might be helping to mitigate fogging as well

u/Janderhungrige · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

Hi, hardware solution could be glasses that turn black when flashed such as automatic welding glasses .
I do not know what light threshold they need. Use a lux meter app to measure the flash bang lux and then ask the producer if the mask activate with that Lux value (If you use that you can also increase the brightnes ofyour screen to increase the flashbang lux to trigger the google if the activation threshold is just not met). Maybe they can even change the settings of that googles. But be aware the luxmeter apps are not that precise. (German) Test showed that the iPhone 5 in combination with LightMeter by whitegoods show only 3% derivation from the refference light source.

Edit: more details

About $6 on Amazon, I think they're about $4 in a box store, and free from some employers..

They look a little goofy in that picture but trust me, at a glance they look as fine as any other black wrap arounds. I own and use these several times a week. I can also confirm their ability to take a beating.

As a biochem grad student that teaches these kinds of labs, you shouldn't get the goggles at the bookstore or home depot. Try something like this: Uvex Stealth Safety Goggles with Uvextreme Anti-Fog Coating (S39610C) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BQUTQS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xjwyDb3X917H0. I tried these blue-blocking glasses http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LWJCJW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

...and strongly recommend them. I don't normally notice a big effect from melatonin pills but from these very dark, filtered glasses I notice I get drowsy at the right time, when I put them on 2-3 hours before bed. I combine it with flux, which I don't think does a thorough enough job.

And if they don't work for you, they are so strongly and weirdly filtered that it makes you feel like you're on a different planet when you put them on and look around when you're outdoors especially in a natural area. Also makes it feel like you're in a typical dream/memory sequence in a movie. I'm not exaggerating, they're not like regular tinted sunglasses. They're very weird, at least for me.

u/catfishbilly_ · 7 pointsr/Welding

Pipeliner welding hood

Tillman 850 welding gloves I highly recommend these gloves. The palm is unlined so you have plenty of dexterity to stick, mig, or tig with. The back is insulated to protect you from burning to a crisp.

Wrangler work shirts (get a few of them) I wear these shirts every day for work. Depending on your budget, you may not be able to get a few of these versus one decent welding jacket. If that's the case, I recommend a heavyweight denim jacket or the basic FR green welding jacket.

Safety glasses (get a few of these, as well as a dark pair for cutting)

Steel or composite toe work boots. I'm not going to recommend a pair... everyone is different. I do prefer Carolina boots and Thorogoods, though.

Ear plugs... can be bought at Lowes or any supply store.

That's your basic safety list. You won't need much more than that for school. Hopefully for you, they will provide tools. Otherwise this is a basic list for a welder's bucket:

2 crescent wrenches, 12" (or spud wrench)
Welpers
Chipping hammer
25' tape measure
Torpedo level
Combo or speed square
Vice grips
Channel locks
1 half round bastard file
1 flat file
2 wire brushes (one for carbon, one for stainless)
4.5" angle grinder (or 6" if you want)
Die grinder (optional)

This is, honestly, all you will ever need as a welder. If you end up with a job that does other mechanical shit, you will need more tools like a set of wrenches, ratchet and sockets, various clamps, etc.

I usually work for bigger contractors that will supply all the power tools and typically have a gang box of hand tools that supplies what I don't have or don't want to bring. When I go to work, I bring my 5 gallon bucket (for a seat mostly), and a canvas backpack. In the bucket is that list above. I put shit I need in the canvas bag if I'm going to be moving around between joints so I don't have to lug around a heavy bucket. At any given time there are only a few main tools in my bag. A chipping hammer, a wire brush, a file, a level, combo square, a 4lb hammer, flashlight, and my tungsten holder. It's all you will ever really need if you're just welding.

$100 in defensive ammo? It's a Glock, what do they need $100 worth of defensive ammo for? $50 in eye and ear protection? These $10 eyeglasses are fine for eye protection and they could buy like fifty earplugs for $5 at Walmart. Here is 1000 rounds of 9mm steel cased doge meme ammo for $152. I agree that more classes are important, but they're on a budget here.

I mean the price point is just me being nitpicky. My larger point is that it's more important to get a gun now at least for home defense. At that point they're almost halfway to carrying. If they had to save up all $1500 for gun + accessories before even considering buying a gun, then it might just never happen.

I am in a similar situation. Since the eclipse, which I viewed with ISO approved glasses, I have struggled with light sensitivity and blurry vision (that comes and goes at all distances...like my eyes can't focus) to a point where I develop eye strain by mid-day and headaches by the end of the day and occasional nausea in the morning when the blurriness is worst. I do not seem to have blind spots but I am seeing more floaters.

I posted some of this info with my one-star amazon review of the glasses, and I am not alone. Check out some of the other reviews there.

I did go to the Ophthalmologist on Friday, and - good news - they couldn't find any damage to my retinas. Bad news - I still don't know what's wrong with me and am afraid it won't get better (or may get worse).

I've always used sunglasses with a clear visor. I'm in the US, Florida specifically, and at night here it's illegal to have sunglasses or tinted visors on while riding. So you have to change out the visor if it's tinted. That was my reason for not getting a tinted visor.

My one tip on sunglasses is this: only certain sunglasses will work well. Anything with a sports grip is going to suck. They're hard to put on and hard to take off. Like pushing a vice clap onto your head. I use these, they're far from the best but they're small, light, and get the job done. They're incredibly cheap and they feel it. I got mine from the hardware store (Home Depot specifically but I see them in most hardware stores.) I know people with helmets with the drop-down visors and they still wear sunglasses instead of using the drop-down.

Why not just wear red glasses instead? These block blue lasers and blue light in general https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009T6RN0G/ Codeword Rogan. You cannot enter it on Amazon, so just repeat it out loud while purchasing stuff.

I got this link to work, and have tried those…
have you ever cut wood while wearing those?

Serious question.

I politely disagree. I just bought some of these today, for delivery on Friday: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01NB09NHK/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new

You can get these if you need prescription lenses. These people are selling a 5 dollar product for 70. That's fucking ridiculous.

I just got these They're cheap. I haven't tried them out yet. I got them to wear at night. I wear sunglasses with my balaclava and they do fog up, but only when I stop moving.

I bought them here.

I have a question in to the manufacturer. Do these look damaged to you? I don't see any light through them at night, even staring into a lamp, and only the sun during the day, but the wrinkles on the left side look weird.

These are due in stock Wednesday, prime shipping should get them to you before the weekend, if all else fails.

These are one of the ones on NASA's "verified actually safe" list, also. Paying $7 each isn't the best feeling, when they were like $2 each a few months back, but that's what we get for waiting! ((I just had to pay $5 each for mine, ordered last week because I was lazy and then forgot))

There are the gun glasses, those things are actually pretty resilient. I mean you shouldn't intentionally shoot directly at them, but we shot at a broken pair at scout camp and it deflected a couple of rounds. They broke after more than that, but it was a good reminder that they do actually offer protection from a stray bullet or two. And they are meant to bend, or deform around the bullet, not shatter, which is important.

That said a full metal jacketed 5.56 NATO round probably will go right through it like butter, so depends on what they're using. But, if you're getting shot at with even .22 long rifle you should probably run away anyway, getting your eyes shot out are only one terrible thing that could happen.

I think the pellets the protestors are being shot with are considered "non-lethal" and moderate eye protection should prevent you from getting hurt like this.

Edit: you don't have to go fancy, these are relatively cheap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003TWWT5A/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_QDlYDbNH1VCVW
