Face wash - I have really good skin - super lucky, I know. I just use a gentle face wash and that is it.

I don't have thick/coarse facial and body hair so experiences may vary, but after reading the NYT article on women shaving their faces, I got curious and tried it myself, and I love the results. Twice a month I use a BIC single blade and run it over my face and body wet with water (no soap, just water; I don't want a too close of a shave). Hair grows back thin and soft and I could probably get away with doing it once a month, but the exfoliation is amazing and it makes my skin look very good. Plus I enjoy the ritual, I put on 80s music and sing along in front of the mirror while I do my face, ha ha.

Little razors made specifically for facial shaving are available. Tinkle is a famous brand.

I think three things could really help you out.

1. Cover lashes with a small bit of water proof eyeliner and then curl them, that will hold the curl. EDIT: You guys, this is a popular tip MUA god Wayne Goss uses. I swear I'm not just making this tip up. She obviously doesn't have to do it if it irritates her eyes. It's just a tip. The main point is her lashes need a curl. Then cover lashes with a dark mascara.
   
   
2. Define your beautiful big eyebrows. If you're scared of plucking you can use an eyebrow razor. (I do!) http://www.amazon.com/Tinkle-Eyebrow-Razor/dp/B002C89J96. You just want a clean line is all. Edit: If you're afraid of plucking eyebrow hairs then wouldn't you think using a razor designed for eyebrows would be a great alternative? It works amazing for me when I don't have the time for plucking.
   
   
3. Use some highlighter on your cheekbones. That will give you a 'glow'.

I do not have hirsutism, but I am very hairy all over my face and body and have struggled with that a lot. The only thing I've found to be relatively non-irritating are the small electric face shavers. This is the one I use, and most shavers in this shape work well for me. I've tried eyebrow shavers like these, but I found that they irritated my skin, especially when I had a lot of acne.

If you end up using the shaver I'd recommend 1) sterilizing it often to avoid it irritating your skin and causing more acne, and 2) being gentle and shaving in the direction of hair growth as much as possible.

Also, while hair does not grow back thicker when you shave, it does have a "blunt tip" which makes it appear so. Because of this, you may want to consider Laser Hair Removal for the long term. Shaving has worked for me, but I think if you have a condition and it bothers you, it might be the best solution. I saw in another comment that you have fair skin and dark hair, and that's the perfect combo for LHR, although the method has vastly improved and almost anyone can get it now.

I just bought these because I have very dense fine hair around my jawline and between my hairline and eyebrows. I like them so far but it mostly seems to thin out the hair as opposed to remove it entirely.

Here is my routine with items and products that work for me.

DAILY Morning:

1. Scrape tongue; rinse with water; brush teeth for 2 minutes; floss; rinse 1 minute with alcohol-free mouthwash and then gargle 30 seconds with a little more mouthwash; brush tongue with vegetable glycerin.
   
2. Shower with warm- not hot- water; shampoo (every other day) and condition (every day); wash pits, feet, in between toes, crotch and crack with antibacterial soap and washcloth; wash rest of body with loofah and body wash of choice.
   
3. Wash face with warm water and a gentle face cleanser; shave; apply witch hazel to face, neck, and forehead; apply moisturizer with SPF
   
4. Dry off completely, especially pits, in between toes, crotch, and crack; apply Fresh Balls , deodorant, foot cream or powder , and hand cream (as necessary).
   
   DAILY Night:
   
   
5. Step 1 of morning routine

Luckily she shaved it and not waxed or tweezed. The hair should grow back just fine just like when you shave your legs. As for appearance best thing to do is just fill them in with color whether pencil or whatever it's going to look strange. When she starts to get some hair back probably less than a week you can use a tinted brow gel to help along with the filling in. I def went through the phase of wanting to wax and all and mom made me wait. I think that the longer you wait the better just because you are still growing and your hair and skin are still developing especially during puberty. i've been shaving my face for a year or so now and love it. i think the main culprit was that i was using a primer and they don't tend to sit well on my skin, but i also shaved my face today after doing my skincare routine and definitely think the peach fuzz played a role in this.

i haven't shaved my face in awhile because i always forget, so i'm glad you reminded me to get back on my routine!

I'm really happy to hear that laser removal worked for you on your chin - it sound like it's definitely worth pursuing having it done on the other areas that cause you grief.

For your hairs that aren't as thick, even if there are a lot of them, I've found that these silly little facial hair razors called Tinkle razors (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JA1AHRG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) work great! They are single blade safety razors, specifically for facial hair, and you dry shave with them. It's actually a good method for exfoliating too. I use them where the hairs don't grow back and get ingrown, and where they are thinner hairs (mustache, sideburns, cheeks etc.).

Very important lesson for any owner of a dog with non-shedding coat. Even if you opt to keep your dog's hair short, (which I do), brushing keeps their skin healthy, it helps them stay comfortable with handling, and it's an opportunity to check them for any injuries, infections, etc. Don't forget to check between the toes! Even though we have Ramses' paws shaved, the hairs between his toe pads obviously stay a little longer, and if he steps in something sticky it's a guaranteed mat, which can irritate the skin pretty quickly. Eyebrow razors work great for gently removing mats from tricky-to-access areas (this process requires many treats).

first off you're gorgeous. for brows it depends on what you're going for. i like the thickness of your brows and i think you just need a little clean up around them. you can tweeze around them or use those mini eyebrow/face razors if you want something more shapely you can go to a professional and they'll help you out. to find out what you like best is really trial and error. try eyebrow pencils, pomades and powders. i also have minimal eyelid space lol. it's not a problem to work with. for your eye look to pop put your desired colour on the part of your eyelid that is visible when you open them. you can still deepen the crease by applying a deep brown shade in the crease and bring it just a little above it. i also keep my eyeliner quite thin.

Honestly? I buy my body razors from the dollar store. They usually have some brand of three blade razors in men's style, and I get a pack of 3 for less than a buck. I get a few shaves from each razor before switching so I'm making out like a bandit!

If you're thinking about shaving your face, DO NOT do it with a regular razor unless you really enjoy wearing blobs of tissue on your face to sop up little cuts.

You want the Tinkle ones! I just went to my purchase history and checked. In my opinion, they are great quality.

By the way, I linked you to the 3-pack of Tinkle razors, but if you find if you like them, they sell them in packs of 12 for not much more $! I usually use each one 2 times and clean it with 70% isopropyl alcohol in between uses. The 12 pack lasts me forever.

Ohhhh! yes! I got these and I love them!

I start at my forehead, make sure the blade is in a straight line and just make small movements down. It has to be tilted at the right angle to actually catch the hair. It took me a couple different angles to figure it out because nothing was happening and I was like maybe I have no hair? and then I got the right angle and I was like OOOOOOHHHH. It's very satisfying.

This is going to sound bizarre, but shave your face! It's what I do, and after suffering through waxing and threading and enduring minor chemical burns from Nair, shaving is what I recommend 100%. It's really easy to learn how to use (there are tons of tutorials on YouTube), and for me, I only have to do it once every two to three weeks (I don't mind minor hair growth on my face - I just don't like a full-on beard). You can shave dry, but I find that my skin is happier when I shave with some jojoba oil. It works like a charm, and it takes no more than 2 minutes. Couldn't recommend enough!

Nothing wrong with being hairy. We all deal with it to a point. Hair removal is gigantic industry and there are thousands of estheticians who just remove hair from people for 40 hours a week. At any given time there are 2-3 infomercials on tv showing some new amazing way to deal with unwanted hair. So no, you are most definitely not alone.

Do you have one of these things? If not, I would suggest getting one and immediately stop tweezing/plucking anything below your eyebrows. Pluck your brows minimally and use the trimmer for the rest. Save your waxing/threading money and get laser treatments.

I got one after I read this the study was done in mice but we now know that [in mice] hairs can communicate in mice and retaliate/grow back with a vengeance when over plucked.

Have you looked into laser at all? It's wonderful and absolutely worth the money. Depending on your needs, it could be $100 to $200 per session. You're likely already spending around that much for waxing and threading. The appts are every six weeks and make a huge difference. And compared to waxing, laser is nothing. You will laugh. Go once and you'll be hooked. The consultations cost nothing and just getting one or two of your most troublesome areas will give you so much relief. I wish I'd done it years ago.

Go find a reputable place. Maybe call a dermatologist for recommendations. Talk to a few places until you find one that you trust. They can do a little patch on your arm to give you an idea of what to expect.

Wash your face. Try to find a soap that suits your skin type.
I really like Neutrogena's transparent facial bar. Neutrogena offers lots of soaps for different skin conditions. Or, use a simple soap, but do make sure you don't use it for washing another parts of the body.

Use face masks or creams depending on what you want.

Hydration is also very important, If your skin feels tight after washing it or using a dry facemask, then use cream or facial masks for skin hydrating.


The first days, I do reccomend you take out blackheads and pick your skin, but don't be too rough.

Yeah, the last time I wore falsies was also for my graduation... I think for your eyeshape, go for lashes that are longer in the middle rather than the end. It really helps open Asian monolids. I think the main problem here with your brows is that there are a lot of stray hairs near the end. Try getting one of those facial razors like these https://www.np.amazon.com/Tinkle-D120-Eyebrow-Shaper-3pk/dp/B001DYFIPE then draw out the precise shape of brow you want, then shave around it. It's just shaving, so it will grow back faster too.

Also, with a better picture I find that your face looks very powdery, almost cakey with little dimension. Try letting your face dry after powder and using a damp sponge to take away some of that powderiness. In terms of dimension, maybe more blush+add some contour/highlight to reintroduce that dimension to your face. Flash photography already decreases the dimension in your face, so this would def not be enough if you are taking flash photos.

I would advise against Nair or anything of the sort since it can give you chemichal burns if left on for a few seconds too long 😑 definitely playing with fire when it's for your face

I use Tinkle Razors to shave my face & I can say with certainty that's the most commonly preffered tool everywhere I've read! I've always shaved my upper lip, even before it became not taboo lol and will still sometimes use a single blade disposable razor wet in the shower. Just remember to go with the hair not against and you'll be good!

There's some good tutorials out there since dermaplaning made it more talked about recently. This one is definitely one of my favorites and Stephanie Nicole did one as well (here is good too but long like usual.) If you search YouTube for shaving your face it's surprisingly all women talking about this subject lol

I use this trimmer and it works MAGICALLY. You can go against the grain, left right, with the grain and it is amazing. You won’t get an absolute smooth surface like a shave or a wax but it will still be super smooth this really prevents the pain and ingrown hairs. No special treatment is needed afterwards anyways☺️☺️

I use Tinkle Eyebrow razors for upper lip hair (http://www.amazon.com/Tinkle-Eyebrow-Razor/dp/B002C89J96). I usually only have to use it ever week or so. I've heard of people using them all over their face for any peach fuzz, but I just use it on my upper lip. I do have a few chin hairs that randomly come in lol but I'll usually pluck those since they don't grow in that often. You can use the razor for those too if you need to! They're really gentle and won't make you stubbly like a regular razor.

If you want to get rid of it, there are these facial razors called Tinkle (lol, I know). I mainly use them to shave around my brows since the hairs there are too small to be removed with tweezers but still bug me, but they're also great for the little peach fuzz above lips, and you can use them all over your face for a very smooth feel. It makes makeup go on very nicely.

I use something like these for my fine facial hair. I can usually find them at Target, CVS, Walgreens, anywhere like that. And just an FYI, more hair doesn't grow when you shave, so shave away! :)

I agree this is a situation where you're going to have to defy your parents for your own happiness. They don't always know what's best and you're 17 ffs.

If you can't get a razor, negotiate an eyebrow trimmer from Target/Amazon. It will take care of the mustache and will come with an attachment you can use to thin out your arm/leg hair (if you can't want to remove it entirely).

That's so kind of you! Honestly, a lot of trial and error. I had some realllly bad brows throughout my teen years haha. Mine are also fuzzy caterpillars without a lot of plucking or shaving. I do have a couple tips that might help though!

First, definitely when you're trying to figure out the best shape, use a razor (like these ones here, I get mine at the japanese supermarket weirdly enough) since it'll grow back faster if you mess up and there isn't a chance of it growing back thinner which can happen if you overpluck. Second, you can try mapping out the shape by using an eyeliner in a color that's lighter than your brow hairs (I just use a crappy 99c white wet n wild eyeliner I got a long time ago and have no other use for) and draw over the areas you're thinking of plucking. This gives you a general idea of whether the shape will work well with your face and natural brow shape. If you like it, just pluck or shave away the hairs that you've drawn over. It's a good way of doing kind of a trial run for a new shape before committing to it. If not, you can easily just wipe it off and try again :)

btw, i actually don't pluck my brows when I change them, Iuse this tiny 1-blade razor tool which can usually be found at asian stores which is specifically made for eyebrows, so that way I don't have to damage the hair root or brow shape later in my life (like this). it could be a good way to both clean up hairs regularly without the damage, and also to try out new styles more temporarily and in a more healthy way.

I shave my face. I bought eyebrow razors from Amazon. They’re fairly cheap too!

I use one for my eyebrows, and one more the rest of my face. I typically leave one with the protective cover on in my make up bag and leave the other in the bathroom cabinet. I use my magnified mirror (highly recommend purchasing one) to get the mustache area and any peach fuzz. I usually have to shave my mustache every week, sometimes twice a week. It’s not a big deal honestly. It just became apart of my weekly routine. I’ve never had the hair grow thicker, coarser, or darker after starting to shave. One tip I do have is make sure your face is dry, and clean beforehand. I typically shave, then moisturizer and continue with my make up.

However they also suggest using an eyebrow razor ( http://www.amazon.com/Tinkle-Eyebrow-Razor/dp/B002C89J96) at 45degrees to your face and dry. Its called dermal planing if you want to look it up. Basically, when people have looked into it, shaving, if done properly, will actually help your skin :)

I use a tiny little face razor that I got off of amazon. I use it for my lip hair, any side of face hair that makes my makeup look less than stellar, and my eyebrows.

Don't let the false fact of hair growing back darker and longer fool you. If it was baby hair to begin with it will grow back as baby hair. I've been doing it this way for years and have never had a problem.

I use these right now. They are super nice and you can't beat how many you get for so little money.

You could try using a an eyebrow razor like this(they’re not just for eyebrows). I use them and they’re great because they also exfoliates your skin and they’re really cheap.

I use these eyebrow razors. Easy to use, and fairly foolproof.

Alternatively, when you get your haircut, ask them to cleanup your brows as well.

I vary between a soft and hard angle. When I started I got the too faced brow envy kit which was really helpful because it came with guides that I could follow along with. I also use a MAC clear gel to hold them in place as i brush them up I trim off the excess hairs with an eyebrow razor (you can find them almost anywhere.

But if you do this make sure you take off a little at a time, a little goes a long way.

Another thing you could do is get them Plucked by a professional. Plucking is ok but my electrolysis says that its a bad thing. Meh, I'm sure its fine for eyebrows.

Another way you could go is to get them threaded (which is nearly the same as plucking)

You could always go and get them waxed too but that wont thin out the hairs, only plucking and threading will do that ... unless you do that after, or they do it there too. (in my experience the waxing techs don't take excess hairs out.)

Wether you decide to get them waxed, plucked, or threaded make sure you ask around and use yelp to try and find a good place that does it. There are some places out there that are just not good.

At the end of the day just remember if you screw up, its just hair. it grows back. Life will continue.

I've been using the Philips Precision Perfect Trimmer. I think it's pretty gentle and the razor isn't sharp, so I haven't had any issues yet. I used to thread my face, but needing to thread every week got really old really fast!

Funny, I just did this at home for the first time last night! I used an eyebrow razor. I got lots of dead skin and light peach fuzz. I had never shaved my face before and it is crazy how freaking smooth it is right now! I'm not sure if it is the lack of peach fuzz or the exfoliation, but WOW. I am laying off my tretinoin for a few days and babying my skin but so far no major irritation with my super sensitive and dry skin. All in all, I will do it again, probably once a month or so.

Same here. I use something like this rather than a regular razor. I'm not very hairy at all, but even my bare skin looks better without the fuzz.

I used to use one of those battery powered trimmers until it finally died. I got so fed up with a new one from the same brand (didn't get as close, pulled hairs, and kept pooping out for no reason), I sucked it up and bought these. I use one to shape my brows (using teeny, tiny strokes, and a bit of oil for protection) after my showers. I have to say, my eyebrows look great, now that I've gotten the hang of it.

I also have super long hair, and got tired of having to spend $200+ for a trim to keep my hair in perfect layers. I let it grow out to one length, and now I trim it myself with a <$10 pair of shears. I also clip out any split or wonky ends when I catch them. I'm cheap, but you wouldn't be able to tell by how nice I look.

Have you tried using witch hazel on your irritation? I know that helps me when I use my epilator.

Also I recently got some of these for random dark hairs and eyebrow trimming. They're great and easy to use.

these things (even though they come in kinda girly colors)....also any ladies reading, they're perfect for getting rid of a bit of unibrow or ladystache.

it's a scary thought, I slice myself up pretty good on my legs I can't even imagine getting it near my eyes!. Anyway they look like this (though I'm sure they come in an even smaller size), they seem to be a big thing in Asia but here they're sold as a bikini touch up razor thing?

I got face razors off Amazon and I noticed that my makeup goes on much better and the skincare products are more effective. I use them on my cheeks, jawline, chin and upper lip. I also get my eyebrows threaded. I used to get them waxed but since I started using acid exfoliants I switched to threading.

I use this razor to shave my lip hair and my peach fuzz since I hate waxing. I use it on dry skin and go with the direction of the hair. It's pretty gentle and takes off flakes of dry skin in the process. I do it maybe once or twice a week. Here's a video I found with a quick search that shows how you use it

I've found these nose trimmers do the trick for overall facial hair. I use it about once every couple weeks.

I've seen beauty gurus online use these, but never tried them out myself.

These are the exact ones I use. One piece of advice i'd give is make sure you clean/sanitize them after each use, and I wouldn't recommend doing it on your face completely dry, but also not right after you've applied product (ie moisturizer) because it just scrapes the product off. Usually I just dampen my face with a wash cloth a little before I do it. Its actually really fun and shocking how much hair does come off the first time you do it I didn't even realize how much I had on my face!

Another option, is to look into getting your whole face threaded. Hurts like a bitch but fantastic results that also results in removing any chin hairs, mustache hairs and they shape your brows. lol

It works great as a physical exfoliator and it's so satisfying seeing all of the dead skin scraped off. I suggest doing it a maximum of twice a month though so that your skin has time to turn over more skin cells

I decided to start shaving when I started dabbling in long-wearing wax/gel products (which include the Loreal gel liner for this look, NYX brow gel, Tarte Amazonian brow mousse, and the ubiquitous Anastasia Dipbrow). I drew my "ideal" brow shape, then there were natural hairs left over that I would pluck or ignore since they were so light. My desired arch got higher and higher as I gained confidence with makeup, so eventually I realize that the outer third of my natural brows was getting in the way of my dream brows. So I used a little facial razor like this to take care of it.

It wasn't a giant adjustment, because they've always been kind of wimpy to begin with, but did have to adjust to using an eye primer on the bare part. It allows the brow product to adhere more effectively. Otherwise, I just run the razor over that danger zone every other day to avoid a droopy brow.

I learned to do this on GOMI actually! I usually forget about it until my peach fuzz is out of control. I like the Tinkle.

They look good! Though instead of plucking, I’d recommend shaving with eyebrow razors because plucking the hair is bad for the follicle, but shaving doesn’t affect the follicle.

I was always against shaving my face until I had it done during a hydrafacial a couple months ago. I Initially hated it-- my contour was not gliding on like it used to and looked muddy af. I'm not sure if it was the initial shock of my skin being so bare or IDK, but it took a few days to get adjusted. Flash forward to now & I've continued to keep it peach fuzz free-- my skin looks amazing & glowy (even without foundation tbh). This is what I use.

Here is the device I use myself.

For upper lip I use one of those battery operated trimmers Such as this.
For chin, tweezers. I started doing Electrolysis on my chin and was told by my electrologist that I should shave since tweezing over time can change the shape of the hair follicle and might make it more curved due to the direction you are pulling the hair out, I still tweeze since it lasts longer.

I use veet and not even the kind specifically for your face. It leaves a bit of redness for a bit but nothing my foundation can't cover up. You can also use one of these things. Or buy waxing strips.

I was in the same boat as you. I have extremely sensitive skin and am very prone to ingrown hairs. Unfortunately, facial hair growth inhibitors have never worked for me. A few years ago I found out about dermaplaning and it works perfectly for me. I use these Tinkle razors daily and have never once experienced an ingrown hair. It makes my face very smooth and causes no irritation.

Use an eyebrow shaper... Just go in a couple circles and it will get rid of any and all stubborn nose hair, been using this system for years.... Blades last around a month each if used once a week or so...Also functions as an eyebrow shaper (clean em up if youre a guy)

you can always use the tinkle eyebrow razor to clean up your brows if you hate the pain of plucking. my mom and i use these and i use them on my boyfriend as well. also, less of a deal if you mess up because your hair grows back faster since you dont pluck! i hope this link works, but im on mobile so beware!

I used to have an electric trimmer something like this, and that worked okay but then I lost it during a move. I bought some 'eyebrow razors' and use that just for the center part of my nose with some baby oil, and a small scissors for further inside. I do it about once every week or so.

Cant help if you're looking to actually remove the hair by its root, as I've never done that before. Sounds too painful for me.

I use this electric face hair trimmer. Don't have to worry about cutting yourself with a razor or using any creams or anything of the sort. I have a spare in my makeup bag in case I'm in a rush and didn't have time to shave and need to do a quick trim before applying makeup so I don't really have any problems with irritation, though others might so idk! :)

Shave it! I've had a fuzzy upper lip and sideburns forever and I hated them. Waxing, threading, and bleaching irritated my skin and made me break out. I swear by the larger folding disposable razors for most of my face (like these) and the smaller ones for around my eyebrows (like these).
