Welcome back!
Here's my list of suggestions, why, and links to where to get them. A few are only available on computer, but you'll see which ones:
As for if you should give 1 or 2 gifts, I think 2 might be a lot of fun! But it might depend on what the "1st place" person has on their list and what you want to give them! I'd say make the decision based off of what you want to give the main winner! =)

EDIT - 3DS Games to consider:
edit 2: P.S: I'm new. I'll be making an intro post hopefully tonight! So hopefully it's alright that I posted here first. I was just excited, as I'm a gamer and love helping people with what to play next. In any event... HI!!
edit 3: I just made my [INTRO] post. It's here if you/anyone's interested.
A bit of a novel, but I hope you find this helpful, OP.
First, to comment on what happened on your call with Microsoft: maybe it's possible you just got one of the really bad reps? But then again, they got a supervisor involved and they still wouldn't just fix the situation for you? Especially seeing as you hadn't even used your subscription... that is pretty ridiculous. Well, I'm confident that you'll find the PlayStation experience an enjoyable one.
-----
Honestly, this is probably the best time to try out a PS3. We're closing out on this generation of consoles and some of the best games of the last few years have been PlayStation exclusives. Especially if you've been using an Xbox 360 this whole time, you're about ready to meet a whole new world of incredible titles.
Quick edit: Just wanted to clarify... I'm including links to Amazon just as an easy way for you to learn more about individual titles. But just as /u/undeadwolfy mentioned:
>You can buy most of these pre-owned at a decent price. Some are digital so they're not much cheaper but still great.
So first and foremost, I highly recommend anything by Naughty Dog -- they are arguably the best developer in the entire industry right now. They released four titles on the PS3: Uncharted 1, 2 & 3 (each game is a must-play), and the absolute masterpiece that is The Last of Us. You've probably heard plenty of praise for The Last of Us (and it is well deserved), but I would recommend saving the best for last. It's such an awesome game that, after completing it, nothing else I played interested me anymore. It took like a month to get back into the gaming groove, so I'd save that 'til after you beat the Uncharted trilogy. It's that good.
Aside from that, there are some other great titles I'd highly recommend. I don't know what kind of games you're into, so I'll just list all those that I've liked, personally:
Not to mention plenty of other great exclusives (Rachet & Clank series, Resistance trilogy, Valkyria Chronicles and more) and the tons of PS1 and PS2 games on the PlayStation Store for cheap, playable on your PS3 if you want to go old school. (Not to mention the many PS2 games being rereleased for PS3 in HD glory... I'd recommend Shadow of the Colossus, which happens to be free for PlayStation Plus members this month... hint hint.) Of course, all the multiplatform games are also here (Battlefield, Bioshock, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, etc.).
That said, however, if you really want to jump in the game, PlayStation Plus is worth every penny -- a ton of free games each month (and we're talking major titles, in addition to a handful of indies), plus a large variety of other system-enhancing features and discounts. And if you're looking at getting a PS4, getting PS+ is a no-brainer. For one, it is required for online multiplayer on the PS4 (no such requirement on the PS3, but hey, they've got to make their money somehow). But what's awesome is that one PS+ account will work across both the PS3 & PS4, and enable you to get free games for each console for as long as you are a subscriber, with free games on the PS4 appearing on day one.
Welcome to the new age. Now cue up some Imagine Dragons and get ready for a freaking awesome experience. We're glad to have you.
On the whole I found 5 (ps4 so far, copy of 5 switch might be coming tomorrow though, or tuesday if not. Super excite!) to be much better than 4, but I'll go through the points:
> Which has the most content including DLC?
Unsure exactly, as I have yet to get 4 on the Vita and dislike buying the DLC for the console versions. It's worth noting that 5 Complete (as well as all of the handheld versions of the games, barring 2 kind of) comes with the DLC packaged in where if you were to get the console version of 4 it doesn't include any of it. It's not particularly cheap to buy either (although if you can get the base game for ~$10 that's pretty much balanced out lol). I believe the base campaign is a little longer in 5 than 4. Post games will tend to be equalish length.
> Is it worth playing D4 just for the story?
This I feel isn't exclusive to just 4, even though 5 is the best mechanically speaking, I would argue that if you end up enjoying the series it would be worth playing any/all of them for their stories. especially for as cheap as you can get them now xD One thing I would look into since you have a PS3 is: This collection. A lot of game for the cost xD That said, I wouldn't delve into the post game of the older entries. Things have gotten much more manageable as time has gone on, like ease of grinding and such.
> If I play D4, will I still be interested in D5, or is it alot of the same?
I would think so. As a fan of the series I'm always looking forward to the next entries (I played them in the order 1 -> 3 -> 4 -> 2 -> 5). This ties back into the fact that they all have fun stories and so are very different games in that regard. 4 and 5 specifically is kind of tough because the stories/character motivations are kind of similar-ish, but they're definitely different enough to be unique.
> Did they remove any features/gameplay mechanics that were present in D4, and not in D5?
Not that I can think of. There were game-specific features taken out of 2 going into 3, and 3 going into 4. I suppose technically 5 uses the "old style" weapon mastery system, where characters have profficiencies for different weapons, and you can equip them with anything but having a better proficiency levels it up faster which leads to new skills faster and more damage faster. In 3/4 they changed it to a system where each char just had a set of weapons they could use/learn skills in. You could equip them with other weapons, but they couldn't use the skills from them. You /could/ fix that by utilizing various systems but it was somewhat less ideal that the current one where anyone can use anything easily. So the good one's back~
> Should I even start as a newb with D4? Other title suggestions? I own a PC(Steam)/PS3/Switch, so I have access to all the Disgaea titles.
I think you're fine starting anywhere anyways. I would recommend Disgaea 5 for the best gameplay experience, but I also don't think it has one of the better stories the series has to offer. Really it depends on how jarring you find going backwards, gameplay-wise. If that's not a big deal to you, I'd recommend 5 to get introduced to the series, then play other ones that seem interesting to you. But if you can only go forwards, definitely at least play disgaea 1 on PC or PS3 (I think you can get in PS3, maybe not). It's definitely a classic and should be experienced. Then you could branch out to whichever games you liked. 3's my personal fave, cast/story wise, school theme. 2 has a pretty good story, but some weaker side characters. 4 is something of a political comedy at first and has some of the more humorous overall casts in the series. 5 I like the main chars a lot, but overall narrative not as much. D1 also has a sequel, DD2 (it's in that collection I linked) that should probably be played only after D1. I've not played it yet so I don't know how vital playing D1 first is, but it's a direct sequel so... yeah xD
Let me fully explain the whole thing between #1 and #2. In Uncharted 1, you get to know all of the characters and get familiar with Nathan Drake himself. He's a badass, and although the game has some flaws (sometimes clunky controls, gets a little uninteresting a couple of times) it is still a very solid game. However, this game only has a singleplayer mode and no multiplayer, so you might want to keep that in mind.
I did a quick search and found it for $23.81 on Amazon
It's quite expensive, especially since it's been a couple years since it's been out but remember, I definitely think it's worth it. I bet you could even find it cheaper somewhere else.
As for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, it's quite simply amazing. It's like playing a blockbuster movie Indiana Jones. It's cinematic, and quite possibly the only game that is literally breathtaking. Character development is great, the story is very interesting, and I never felt bored at any time in the game. Literally from start to finish, I was enjoying every second of it, and I can't say that about any game. The controls are much smoother, and after you're done the singleplayer mode (which I played 4 times through, it's that much fun) there's also a multiplayer mode that is very fun. Might not be your cup of tea, but it's great to try out. The Co-Op mode is excellent, imo.
Again, on Amazon I found the Game of the Year Edition of the game for $22.88 (Which is surprisingly cheaper than the first one).
The GOTY edition has all of the DLC and add-ons for the multiplayer which I would say are all worth it.
Now, as for why you should play the first one. There are quite a number of references to the first game in Uncharted 2. Remember, Naughty Dog developed the game so that any person could pick up the second and be completely comfortable with it, but playing the first then this one you will really appreciate it. Uncharted 2 is also so good that you will probably want to play the first game after, just to play some more Uncharted. Unfortunately, you WILL be disappointed. Some people may prefer the first one for a couple of reasons but honestly there's no competition. Finally, it's really nice to get to know the characters and what they are about before you play the second one. Other than that, that's really it.
I really hope you find that helpful.
And as for God Of War, I highly recommend you play the second game. It's my favorite of the series, based off the story and gameplay, but on the other hand GOW3, is simply beautiful. It's almost euphoric destroying Mount Olympus in HD, and you'll see what I'm talking about when you get to it. There is a God Of War collection for the PS3, which is the HD rerelease of the games for the PS3, so you might want to look into that. I really don't think you should skip out on GOW2.
hahah sorry for the block of text btw, I just wanted you to fully understand.
Mmmmm this contest makes me drool a little. I love video games.
I would love Beyond Two Souls for the PS3. It looks beautiful and my friends have loved it and have made me reeeeeally want to play it!
For the Xbox360 I would love Borderlands 2 Game of the Year because my SO and I love playing Borderlands together and while we have played 2 we really want to play the all of the DLC together. :3 For valentines day I even altered nerf guns to look like guns from Borderlands.
For the DS I would love Tingles Rosy Rupeeland because I am crazy about Zelda and this game totally cracks me up as a spin off. :P
As for a card game I would love Cthulhu Fluxx because my friends and I have game nights and a couple of them have Fluxx so we are trying to get a bunch of different versions of Fluxx.
Wildcard- Gamecube, Metroid Prime 2 because I have the rest of the series, but still need #2 O.O Definitely go for a used one though. XD
Pretty much anything is fine used by me!
Thanks so much for this contest! I had a lot of fun kind of going through everything.
My favorite game is... Zelda Ocarina of Time because it was one of my early games and that and Majora's Mask got me hooked onto the video game world.
I've linked them to Amazon so that you can see they're all under $10 including shipping.
Shaun White Snowboarding - $4+ Open world snowboarding game. Pretty fun if you have the itch to ski or snowboard and winter is not here yet. Fun to play around the fall when you're really excited to start snowboarding for the season. I know the game isn't all that great, but hey, it's an open world game. You can do whatever.
Mortal Kombat - $10+ - Awesome side by side fighting game. You know it. Fun party game if you have more than 1 controller.
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe - $8+ - Mortal Kombat characters vs DC Superheroes. This isn't like regular Mortal Kombat. You can move your character in a circle, instead of just left and right. It looks kind of like summo wrestling, like how the players can circle each other. There are also moments where the map changes, and the characters fall from one map to another, and your characters fight while free falling. It is pretty sick if you're a fan of the Mortal Kombat games.
Battlefield 3 - $6 - A Shooter. Has amazing graphics and sound effects, much better than CoD. Has a lot more weapons and customization. There are vehicles! Jets, helicopters, tanks, jeeps, motorcycles, even buggies with turrets. The maps are huge! Awesome game. I've clocked a lot of hours on PS3 playing this game. Got a few more hours also playing on PC.
That's all I got for now. I'll be back if I can think of more. I don't have a lot of PS3 games, even less when you're looking for $10 or under, but these games are still awesome! They provided many many hours of enjoyment.
Yes. GTA IV, The Ballad Of Gay Tony and The Lost And Damned are 3 completely separate games and stories, all set in Liberty City.
It would be easy to say that they're the same story, told from the perspectives of 3 different protagonists, but I don't really think that's true - the characters bump into each other, collaborate at times, and fight, but the story of Nico and his brother is quite separate from that of the psychotic leader of a biker gang and his deputy or of Tony Prince and his protege Luis Lopez.
You can play any of these games without having played or knowing anything about the others. Only when you play a second one will you recognise the occasional scene or robbery or car chase from the others - but only occasionally, they don't overlap that much.
I think the original GTA IV itself is a bit long and serious, whereas I found The Ballad Of Gay Tony a better length and a lot more satisfying.
You might say that one of the stories is about loss, and another is about rivalry - Gay Tony is about friendship and standing by each other. Even though I'd played both the other stories first, Gay Tony reinvigorated my interest in Liberty City and bought it back to life again, for me.
As far as buying the games are concerned, GTA IV was originally a stand-alone release, then The Lost And Damned and The Ballad Of Gay Tony were released as DLC and then together on a disk as Episodes from Liberty City. That disk is stand-alone, and you don't need the original GTA IV to play it, however you might be better off just buying The Complete Edition, depending on local pricing - here in the UK it's only £2 more, so you might as well.
The previous posts have covered the exclusive PS3 collections pretty well so I'll focus on multiplatform ones. Several of these are a bit rarer since they seem to have come out later on and (maybe?) don't have as many copies out in the wild. Also, check out Glyde - they have a lot of great games for cheap, and all the games I've bought from them have been in better than advertised condition. Their shipping is quite slow though.
Ultimate Action Triple Pack - Sleeping Dogs, Just Cause 2, Tomb Raider. Great games here, and I've beaten all of them. If you like action check it out.
Ultimate Stealth Triple Pack - Thief, Hitman Absolution, Deus Ex Human Revolution. Not played any of these as I dislike stealth but you may enjoy them.
Bioshock Trilogy - You have two options here depending on how much you like the series (and DLC). Bioshock Infinite black label copies (not the Greatest Hits ones) say on the box that they include Bioshock 1 on the disc, so you can either buy a copy of Infinite (+ Bioshock) then get a base game copy of Bioshock 2. You could even combine this with the 2K Power Pack and get Mafia II and Darkness II. Not played Darkness II but Mafia II is really good. The more expensive way (but you get the DLC which for 2 and Infinite is really good and helps to tie up the story really well) would be to buy a copy of the Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition that includes 1 + 2 and all DLC, then buy a Bioshock Infinite Complete Edition copy. Regardless of which option you choose, make sure to play the games in release order.
2K Essentials Collection (Bioshock 1, XCOM, Borderlands). Only game I'm personally interested in here is Bioshock but YMMV.
About the only other one I can think of is the Mass Effect Trilogy, which is pretty highly rated (and the only way to get a copy of Mass Effect 1 physically for the PS3) but it's out of your budget for now.
You're in luck, in light of the new console generation most the greatest hits available for the PS3 are available for half their original price or less some even available in combo packs.
• Any title from the Ratchet and Clank series. The original trilogy is available on one disk on amazon with remastered HD graphics for $19 as well as All 4 one for ten bucks.
• The UNCHARTED series is praised as one of the best exclusives on the console to date and will not fail to impress.
• If you're a Sonic fan or not these games are fun.
• A few other gems that are worth a look.
Mass Effect 2 is $20 new, and comes with almost all the important DLC on PS3. If you buy a used copy, the Cerberus network code might already be used, and you miss out on some stuff, so go with new. Even though it is single player, I think it has plenty of replay value, maybe more than any other single player game I've played since the first Mass Effect.
I liked GTA IV well enough to complete the main game, but I never finished the two DLCs, nor did I like the multiplayer. But I know some folks really liked the multiplayer, so who knows.
Uncharted 2 and 3 both have multiplayer, but I never really played them, so I can't comment on them. But I think both games have great single player campaigns. Unfortunately Uncharted 2 seems to be a little on the pricey side right now. I know you can get it for cheaper, but you may have to be patient. again, used copies may have a code that has already been redeemed, so caveat emptor. also you can get it as part of a dual pack with the first one, but that exhausts your budget right there.
I will also put in a plug for Borderlands. it's been on sale for $15 with all the DLC on the PSN for PS+ members, and still was last time I looked. it has a lot of good DLC, but even without the DLC, it is plenty fun, and has good local and online multiplayer. really multiplayer to me is he only fun way to play the game. it also has good replay value in my opinion.

There's also the Silent Hill HD Collection, but from everything I hear it is a lazy and sloppy port of the games.
Whew! I swear I am not a shill for Amazon. I just appreciate a good deal when I see it.
I wanted to play the Uncharted series ever since it came out. But I didn't have a PS3, nor did I have the money for one or the drive to get it, at that point, just for one game. But when I finally got a PS3, it was one of the first games I got (thanks to /u/ALAN_BEFORE_TIME) and the very first game I played on the console. Love at first play, no friggin' joke. I loved the adventure part of it, but I also loved the characters and the story, which starts off as just a simple adventure and then turns into something more.
If it interests you, you can usually find the first one, by itself, pretty cheap since it's an older game. The graphics held up really well since it was released too. I didn't feel like I was playing a five-year-old game when I started it.
ETA: See? Cheap! $11 for a used copy or $15 for new!
Just to note, assuming you mean this triple pack, the collection consists of Disgaea 3, Disgaea 4, and Disgaea D2. Most of the Disgaea games are separate and self-contained with a few references and cameos by characters from other games, but D2 is a true sequel to the original Disgaea. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of that.
That being said, the Triple Pack is a great deal. It really comes down to whether the portability and DLC matter to you. If you plan on getting all of the DLC on the PS3 versions, you'll spend quite a pretty penny, while all of this DLC and a few minor additions come with the Vita versions. I just looked at the PSN page for Disgaea 3 and the complete DLC set costs $50. Of course, most of that DLC is just extra characters, but several of them have their own few battles worth of a story added as well.
Even without the DLC, all of the Disgaea games offer almost limitless playability because of the insanely high level caps, upgrading weapons though Item World, and New Game Plus.
It's mostly depending upon whether or not you care about the portability of the Vita versions and whether all of the DLC characters are worth it in your opinion. I love the fact that I can carry it around and battle as I'm waiting around somewhere, while also retaining the ability to play it on my TV when I get home with my PSTV.
EDIT: Just looked at the D2 and Disgaea 4 DLC. The D2 DLC totals around $60, and I didn't even want to count how much the Disgaea 4 DLC added up to. It was likely well over $75.
I am an Eggplant Wizard and I approve this message.
I've been a huge fan of the Fallout series. I have Fallout 3 and New Vegas and I absolutely love the environment and backstory. I have a huge nerdboner for apocalypse porn. (Related: I started playing The Last Of Us after nerdgasming over the videos ... yeah. I'm gonna like this one.)
I have heard wonderful things about Heavy Rain and I'd love to play it. I love games that aren't just 'go here, shoot this' -- I want my actions to matter and mean something in the game.

Dead Island is my favorite PS3 game of all time! It got me back into gaming and is a great stress reliever. haha. My husband and I play DI: Riptide together when the kiddo is asleep. It's a great team/marriage building exercise. :)
I recently started playing Uncharted, which had been such a long time coming. I'd love Uncharted 2!
Eggplant Wizard sounds like an 80's hair band. Love it!
No, but I have good news! Right now the PS3 version of the game is on sale for super cheap.
http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Realm-Reborn-Playstation/dp/B002BRZ79E/
And as an added bonus, if you buy a PS3 copy you can UPGRADE to PS4 for free until April 1st.
So, save yourself money and get that PS3 copy and upgrade it to PS4 right away. If you want to you could also buy a second one to still have access on PS3.
I'm assuming you're a US citizen, but... dood,
I know it's extra expense, but $110 (plus any applicable sales tax for your state) ain't half bad.
PSTV works with PS3+4 controllers afaict (it works with mine but mine's fully patched!), so... you should be good to go.
Other than that... Disgaea 3 was a decent game, Disgaea 4 is FAR superior to it. Get D4 before / instead of D3 if budget's a concern.
That and you can pick up Disgaea 1 Afternoon of Darkness PSP version and Disgaea 2 PSP for it too... :p guess what I've got on my Vita? :D
Disgaea 5 beats both of them on convenience of the game's systems etc. It's really well done. So get Disgaea 5 to go with your new PS4, and then think about the Vita versions of the prior games, maybe :)
EDIT: $31 for the Triple Play: https://www.amazon.com/Disgaea-Triple-Play-Collection-PlayStation/dp/B011L4CFB0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487863466&sr=8-1&keywords=disgaea+collection - so a cheap PS3 might be a good way to go if you can get that!
PS3 is also a blu-ray player so if you're the kind who needs a blu-ray player for a second room, ... there's a convenient excuse for you :D
You are absolutely correct. With the addition that it is also a 360 game (but I'm a Sony man, so I feel bad saying that lol). It is a beautiful game made by the same people who made Persona and Shin Megami. Good news for you guys, my fellow pervs, is that this is an ecchi game. This means it's full of it's own steamy pictures and pervy story most of you will relate to! I love this game and highly recommend it. And there's even better news!!! You PS4 gamers can actually rent this game on Playstation Now and play it on your PS4! It'd only take 1 to 2 months to beat depending on how many of 5 or 6 endings you're wanting to unlock.
edit: said "game" too much.
I've only played the demo, but Fuse was pretty fun.
A third-person shooter with up to 4 player co-op where each of the 4 characters has a signature technologically advanced weapon to use.
I have the game for PS3, just haven't started it up yet is all.
Others that come to mind, that I have in fact played, include:
Enslaved which goes on sale for really cheap pretty often and is a decent enough game. Post apocalyptic beat 'em up with great characters and a decent story. Stars Gollum himself, Andy Serkis.
Red Dead Redemption plus the Undead Nightmare DLC which is the worth the money at twice the price but goes on sale fairly often. Rockstar's Wild West epic with an amazing ending that hopefully hasn't been spoiled for you.
The Saboteur is a stylized World War II game where you take the role of an Irish revolutionary in Nazi occupied Paris. Probably worth a $10 price tag.
If I think of anymore I'll update the list.
Can we link more than one item?
Ps3 game for my boyfriend because he's been wanting this and he works really hard so I think he deserves it. :)
3DS game because I have been dying to get back to playing Pokemon. It was my favorite game as a child.
Board game (expansion) because I am obsessed with TtoR:Europe and this looks totally awesome.
My favorite game is... well currently it's Animal Crossing New Leaf. :)
Nice!!!
Never played Red Dead Redemption before...
I just bought the PS3 Greatest Hits Game of The Year Edition with Undead Nightmare and Multiplayer mode all together.
It will be a great weekend...
Only $21 in Amazon a week ago... Now is $27, got lucky...
Usually I have a couple of Greatest Hits old games in watchlist so I can check every time if it drops price...
Dang girl
Do you own any of the Supernatural seasons yet? If not, the first season is $22, for instance. You should buy your favorite seasons!
As far as video games are concerned, I'd recommend buying Uncharted 2, the new Tomb Raider, and Heavy Rain. These games are all super pretty and fun in very different ways.
My favorite game is...
Final Fantasy X or LoZ Twilight Princess.
BUT RECENTLY, I've really started to love BSG: The board game. So good. So, so good. I don't own it, but it is totally out of your price range, anyway.
BUTTTT I'd also love this console game! Mostly because my name is the title, but also because the cover is hilarious.
I have a bunch of items listed as highest priority. It was a guitar up until I bought one for myself at guitar center. Now I need things like a stand, picks, a strap, etc.
My highest priority item is probably this toolkit which has been on my WL since I joined RAOA. I have no idea why I still haven't just gotten it for myself considering I could have many times over. We have basically no tools in our apartment, so I'm even more useless than normal when it comes to fixing things.
I REALLY need a new 360 controller. I may or may not have shattered mine a while back, and I'm currently playing with it held together by tape, and sometimes a button or two doesn't work. It's really frustrating.
I also have GT6 listed as highest, because it is honestly my favorite gaming franchise of all time, and I love every one of the GT games.
This thing is listed as highest because I would really like to listen to my own music in the car, but don't have an aux cable. I can get one, but I need a special part (because my car stereo is set up REALLY stupid), and it's $120 and comes from the UK. That item is listed as highest priority too, but it's not on amazon.
By the way, you are awesome :D :D
I'm spending some much needed quality time with my fiance. :) He's been in way down south working at an internship so it's nice to see him. <3
1.21 Gigawatts and awesome first contest!! Honestly I would like a $50 gift card if possible to put toward the Beyond: Two Souls game on PS3!
ANIMAL CROSSING! I am obsessed with it. I am on ACTrade and AdoptMyVillager so much I get excited each morning I wake up and can get home to play with new people and make new friends. I like meeting goals on it!
BUT if I were to leave the game I am wanting to play Prince of Persia again. It's been so long and I love it!
Here are all of the lightning deals for today, too. Enjoy!

Well, this game here is my favorite. I love the series, and I loved this game.^eventhoughalotofpeopledidn't
And this game would be my least favorite. Not because of the story or anything. It just scares me to death when I play it.
As to why I would want a copy of Assassin's Creed - well, I have the third one. But I feel like it would make a lot more sense if I played one and two first :3
Yeah and the best part is all these great series are being released as special collections now.
Now is a fantastic time to give the PS3 a try and snap up all the great games you missed the first time around.
uncharted 1 is really cheap. It's a fantastic game but you can certainly skip it if you want. The two storylines are completely separate besides some character relationships that were established in the first one, but I highly recommend getting around to it eventually. If you can find a way, play Uncharted 1 first. Borrow it from someone, or rent it.
Obviously you need Arkham Origins.
Need for speed: hot pursuit is fun times (and cheap) as an arcadey racing game.
GT6 if you'd like something slightly more serious in the racing category.
The new Wolfenstein is also pretty fun.
The ps3 version is on sale a lot so I bought that for $25 and did the upgrade to the Ps4 version for free. You need to register the game on a Ps3(either yours or a friends) in order to do the upgrade. It's been as low as $10. You also get a free month of play to try it out. That helps subsidize the costs.
Sony store is $25 right now
Amazon is $25 right now if you like physical copies
When I bought the PS3 greatest hits edition I had the game, or were able to easily download it and play it. It's really cheap too so definitely worth the buy if you really like the game for the original.
Heavy Rain: Director's Cut PS3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005YR308S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OTEJybVJQD5X4
>I don't have a console or a portable system, but I'd probably buy one for a more refined version of this, are the mobile ones good?
You probably get the most gameplay for your money if you get a used PS3 for ~100$/€ and the Disgaea Triple Pack (Disgaea 3+5+d2d) for ~35$/€.
Though, with a bit of luck, it may very well be possible that the other Disgaea games will also be ported to the PC.
>So first things first. Source for that $30 price tag you put on it.
That was a guess, it could be $5 but they're still charging you for a game you already own. But here's an amazon link that lists it at $29:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001JKTC9A
>Have you even read to understand why the ps4 isn't backwards compatible? You do understand it will take man hours to make those games playable right?
Yeah, I know exactly why, it's because of the shift in architecture from PowerPC to x86-64, and to include backwards compatibility it would basically have to include a mini-PS3 which would raise the price significantly.
>Now what makes more sense, using that subscription money to provide better servers for everyone, or using it to redo old games that aren't relevant anymore?
Obviously provide better servers, but you are AGAIN, completely missing the point. This is my point:
It is unfair to argue that Gaikai is basically backwards compatibility for PS4 because it charges you even if you already own the games.
Yes, it takes man hours, so it wouldn't make sense to be free, but it is not a substitute for backwards compatibility but something for people who have never played them before and only have PS4, like Virtual Console on Wii U.
Have you played Final Fantasy XIII? The progression is more linear than previous games, but the story is fantastic. If you want to play it on PC, Steam has it for $16. It will be even cheaper in a couple days.
Well technically they didn't lie to you, they just had higher prices than the prices I checked Normal edition: http://www.amazon.com/Battlefield-3-Playstation/dp/B002I0J82G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346890776&sr=8-1&keywords=battlefield+3+ps3

Play them in timeline order. GTA: Vice City Stories, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA 3, GTA 4 (Also Episodes from Liberty City), GTA 5.
Total Cost of Every one you do not own:NEW- $75.00 even cheaper when a sale is on.

EDIT- ALL ON PLAYSTATION 3
EDIT 2: Watch the following video before San Andreas is started http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-wLIAISF9I&feature=kp
happy birthday, Marie Shea
Guess what would be awesome to have.
Prince of Persia Trilogy!
(above 21? Click the "used" link, and you'll find stuff there below 21!)
Uh, have you seen This yet??? If you have and still only want 1 I'd suggest getting DD2. It's the most streamlined and fun. It features the original cast and I feel has more content as well.
>it didn't help that I played it in the middle of the night with the lights out
That is the best way to enjoy scary games, I commend you for going the extra step. I try to do it that way myself, but I'd be lying if I didn't confess to occasionally turning on the lights when I get scared.
If you still want to play the second and third games, now's actually a good time to get around to them since they're being re-released in HD. This is one of those occasions where I have to keep myself from re-buying a game I've played over and over in order to enjoy other games I've already purchased. Though if the HD collection comes on sale later...
Yay!
I'd like Heavy Rain, or anything you pick out from my WL. Thanks!

Honestly, I do not know how you can not find the game somewhere. :) If you live in the nordic region (denmark, norway, sweden) I know even more. All those I listed, is stores that I've used and trust.
Well for platformers i,d recommend the Jak and Daxter Collections (if you haven't played them yet) and the Sly Series(1 to 4)
As for Action-adventure only a few comes to my mind: The Infamous series (basically it is an action open-world\Sandbox game with comics-style story) and the Batman Arkham series (a really great game series).
Probably discounted due to the upcoming release (late-2019 for Japan, sometime in 2020 for everywhere else) of Persona 5: The Royal. Persona 5: The Royal will only be for PS4, though.
PS4 version hit 'Greatest Hits' pricing as well, but no discount - Amazon link for PlayStation 4 version.
EDIT: PS3 is currently back-ordered, so other third-party sellers are showing up. Make sure it says that the item says 'Ships from and sold by Amazon.com' -- hopefully this link works for simplicity (smid tag in the URL denotes the seller, in this case, Amazon).
Lol i understand man but Looooooook cheapest one is like 9.00 bucks lol
I agree with you, but I think it would be more intellectually honest for you to compare the DLC prices to the new game price, not the price of the game a year after it comes out.
Also, here it is for the PS3 with all the DLC for a total of $20. That might not be what you're looking for, though. I couldn't find it that way for the 360. As for the PC, Steam is blocked at my workplace, but here is the Digital Deluxe Edition.
There's collections for all 3 series. Sly Cooper Collection, Ratchet & Clank Collection, and Jak & Daxter Collection.
The only thing is that the R&C collection is missing Deadlocked, my third favorite one. Good thing I still have it on PS2, though. Other than that, those are pretty much the entire series. All of Sly Cooper is on PS3 now, all main series Jak & Daxter are on PS3, and all Ratchet & Clank minus Deadlocked are on PS3.
I'd look for games like Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, or Rachet and Clank.
There's a Sly Cooper Collection that has three games. There's also a Jak and Daxter Collection as well as a Rachet and Clank Collection. Each collection has three games, and they're running for about $15 each. These would keep them busy for a very long time. :)
Is the fan working? Anyways, you could always buy a new ps3 and this to go with it. Good luck.
Amazon is pre-ordering Portal 2 right now. They are giving a whopping $20 gift card with every purchase as well as $5 discount and release-day delivery.
This happy birthday message brought to you by Boxy Brown.
And I would very much appreciate the Jak and Daxter Collection.
Buy it right now. 360, PS3. Also, the Undead Nightmare expansion is also fantastic. It is one of my favorite DLCs of all time. It is up there with Old World Blues (F:NV) and The Ballad of Gay Tony (GTAIV)
I personally disagree. Why is asking for more money after a game is launched "supporting" it? And if a game is complete from launch, why do they need to sell more content later?
If the game came out at launch at $100 with 48 tracks, people would have been calling nintendo out on an $100 price point. Why is asking for $10 for 4 maps, which is what people seem to want to pay, any different? It blows my mind that not only is that kind of price model accepted, but actively encouraged.
Even developers know that releasing with planned DLC isnt complete. Look at the names of some of the games bundles with DLC:
GTA4: The complete edition, which clearly means that the former version without the DLC is the incomplete edition.
Dynasty Warriors 8 xtreame legends complete, again, what does this mean the previous Dynasty Warriors was?
LA Noire: The Complete Edition, same deal.
I could go on.
Sure some will call it GOTY edition or something, but dev's all know what it means. One version is complete, the base version is incomplete. I would be very disappointed if Nintendo sold more tracks as DLC. It isnt an issue of "You dont have to buy it", it is an issue of them abandoning their ideals that you don't release incomplete games.
Wow, okay -- am I glad I asked this question!! I would have been heartbroken not being able to log in and play!!
On amazong, the pre-order CE FFXIV has sky rocketed! Its $220+ !!
Would I be able to get this version:
http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Reborn-Playstation-3/dp/B002BRZ79E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1375721064&sr=8-2&keywords=ffxiv+arr+ps3
and then purchase the CE upgrade from SE after the launch found mentioned here:
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/product/
So, when I purchase the game now, as "pre-order" will amazon send me the early access code? that I then put in... my square enix account thing? :-/ Sorry -- such a dunce about this.
I'm going to ask for BF3 for my ps3, I just got a ps3 last week and it seems that I have no money left for games after playing TLOU, my friend has BF3 and I want to play with him, also I spent $60 when it first came out, and to my surprise my computer couldn't run it and I was never able to get a refund

$30 is pretty high, but the sweet spot is right around $20, but I would be willing to pay up to $25 and MAYBE $30 depending on the game.

Or go buy Vagrant Story on PSN. It's 6 dollars and one of the best RPGs ever.
Got these games last month:
Heavy Rain - $15 (BF @ Gamestop)
Dirt3 - $15 (BF @ BB)
Uncharted 3 - $30 (BF @ BB)
Uncharted 1 & 2 - $25 (BB Deal)
Ico & Shadows of the Colossus - $20 (BB Deal + Rebate)
Batman Arkham City - $30 (BF)

The next games I'm looking into getting are Goldeneye 007 Reloaded (Bundle Edition), Saints Row: The Third, and Skyrim
Uncharted one was fantastic and you can get it for like thirty bucks so yes.

Thanks! FYI - This sale has been price-matched by Amazon.
If you order it from Amazon (and possibly other places), you get to pick. Change the "edition" in the Platform box.
I find myself wondering how much of this controversy is just because they put it on the cover. If the mainstream media got a hold of a copy of Persona 4, they'd have half a dozen things they could flip out about, but the cover is pretty innocuous (other than the big M logo). I just beat the strip-dancer boss last night, for instance. (Which is the one after this boss).
Base game tho; undead nightmare is the standout and it's 10 bucks.
Should be like 22 bucks if you pick up both, so you might as well snatch it from amazon for 21 bucks and get the rest of the dlc
what'd you pay for the system, and what kind?
first, before you buy anymore games, i strongly suggest you get a FREE amazon Prime subscription. don't know how? sign up at any community college, DO NOT register for classes, you are only doing this to get a ".edu" email address. use the .edu to register for an amazon prime account.
i'm not a fan of red dead redemption, though i loved red dead. also the mass effect series was one i had a hard time catching on to. rather than rank by number, i'll just put an asterisk next to my top choices.
Not a sequel that I know of, but they just released a new game in the same styling and I SOOOOOOOO want to play it! It has Ellen Page and Willem Defoe as characters!
No early access; probably going to receive it a couple days after it comes out as usual with Newegg.
Amazon's $30 after $10 Amazon credit, early access, and release-day shipping is a better deal.
Not the near future, but the near past:
https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP9000-CUSA02522_00-JADBUNDLE0000001
There is also a PS3 re-make/remaster as well:
https://www.amazon.com/Jak-Daxter-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B006JKAS16
Unless you mean a new game like Jak 4? Then no, but maybe the distant future. But still prob not :(
Name: Skip Brogans.
Game: Brogans Before Hogans.
Red Dead Redemption please. If it ends up having tax, pushing it over $30, Dishonored on Steam would be great too.
Thank you.
Amazon matches Wal-mart deal!
$5 off the $59.99 retail price AND $20 credit on future purchases at Amazon.
The reason behind the glut of remasters is how cheap and easy they are. Fetch the uncompressed assets, change the rendering resolution, up the framerate, fiddle with some fancy shaders, do a little QA, then kick it out the door. I bet some companies are literally assigning interns to these projects. (I'm looking at you, Konami)
The assets for God of War 3 are still presentable today, so a GW3 remaster is cheap and easy. It takes a lot more work to make God of War 1 look worthy of a current-gen platform. That amount of work is comparable to the art budget for a brand new game... so not worth it from a business standpoint.
It's a paradox... the games that need remastering least, get remastered.
They call them "HD remakes" even though they look mostly the same. I'm afraid that this is the alternative to backwards compatibility, rebuying remakes instead of allowing us to play what we bought.
But then you run into problems like this, http://www.amazon.com/Silent-Hill-HD-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SXAIG . It has 2 out of the 9 games, and they look marginally better, but still carries a solid price tag.
Price summary:
PS3: $260
Gran Turismo 6: $40
Logitech Momo Force Feedback Racing Wheel + Pedals: $75
Desk: $20 from a yard sale
TV: $460
Chair: Free
GRAND TOTAL: $855
When you do pick it up, go for the game of the year edition, they have one which comes with all the expansions and you'll definitely want those!

Yeah, it's being released for PS3 and PS4. You can't get the steelbook or Take Your Heart edition for it, but you can still get the base game.
This mic that I've been drooling over is $61. If that doesn't count, then BIOSHOCK.
What a pickle I've found myself in. I just wanted to retrieve a pickle from the pickle jar, but I ended up with my hand covered in pickle juice! And then I remembered I'm allergic to pickles. What a pickle to be in.
For what it's worth, you can do one better on Amazon right now.
Buy the PS3 version for $54.99, receive $20 Amazon credit.
The PS3 version comes with a PC version, but you need a PS3 to "activate it."
There really isn't anywhere to buy it online. You can order it on Amazon but it'll cost you and is not worth it. The PC version has all sorts of issues apparently.
I would either buy this for the PS3/360 (easiest option really) or emulate the game using PCSX2, but please don't ask for a link to the ISO for the game.
Except they do afaik?. There's clearly a buy new option.
http://www.amazon.com/Portal-2-Playstation-3/dp/B003O6E3C8
$55 and a $20 credit (making it $35 if you use Amazon)
Yeah they do have a bundle that has the game + all the DLC. Xbox 360 here and PS3 here.
The Xbox one is backwards compatible if you have an Xbox One.
What you can do is buy another PS3 copy of the game, upgrade your current PS3 license to the PS4 version, then use the bought PS3 copy to get the license back. The PS4 Upgrade Campaign has been extended to March 31st of 2015, so you have some time to do that. It's only 20$ right now as I'm posting this on Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Realm-Reborn-Playstation/dp/B002BRZ79E/ref=sr_1_1_twi_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1417535574&sr=8-1&keywords=ffxiv
I'd recommend buying it before it goes off sale.
>They will never do this.
"Cross platform play on PlayStation 3 and Windows PC"
According to Amazon you can play split screen co-op on PS3.
WiFi will give you a shit experience. Wire it or don't let people use it while you play. Quality is adjusted base on your internet and also depend on the game. Some games look like hot garbage while others look amazing. Sadly Red is a PS3 game and cannot be download for max quality. If you have a ps3 https://www.amazon.com/Dead-Redemption-Game-Year-sony-playstation3/dp/B005N4HBIW 20 dollars year edition. Also try to look for a gaming cafe and ask if they have the game.
Yeah, the GTA4 complete is the cheapest for everything at $30. But whatev.
http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Playstation-3/dp/B0045U01OG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302483447&sr=8-1
It seems like one or more has the constant ubisoft DRM. I was thinking of getting them because of prior pirating...but i think they also released a similar pack for PS3.
EDIT: 38 Bucks on Amazon, but 1080P
... for the most part, these games are used so they are priced accordingly - $23 for UC3 on Amazon, $30 for BF3.
pricecharting lists them as about equal, used.
Ebay completed listings have BF3 about $3 more on average for used copies.
Seems Amazon is price matching:
God of War
Beyond: Two Souls
Fuck that, get it for fucking free!
Buy it on Amazon, get the promotional 20 dollars, nab the code, then do this fucking shit.
ಠ_ಠ
I don't know if you can order from Sony but you can preorder from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Reborn-Playstation-3/dp/B002BRZ79E/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_in
Or the squareenix site
You could get MGS Collection and Uncharted 3 for about the price of BF3 Premium.
A quick Amazon search reveals:
UC3 is $33 new, $25 used:
http://www.amazon.com/Uncharted-3-Drakes-Deception-Playstation/dp/B004EQCCI4/
MGS is $30 new, $29 used:
http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B0050SX97I/
so I say go with that!
It's super cheap now. Amazon has both PS3 and Xbox360 versions listed at under twenty dollars here. I doubt it will go any lower though.
It's the identity code on the top left of your Shepard screen. See: http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/videogames/detail-page/B002I0J5YW.04.lg.jpg
Amazon says April 19th

Just a heads up Amazon has it for $18. Gamestop I think has it at about $25.
Its goes down to 19.99 all the time on Amazon, same with GTA IV Complete Edition : http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005N4HBIW/ref=cm_sw_r_an_am_ap_am_us?ie=UTF8
$15.99 on amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Gran-Turismo-6/dp/B00CRL9TU2/
I just got the PS3[PS3](Persona 5 - PlayStation 3 Standard Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GKHJP4I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_OYsSDbBZP9NXB) version from Amazon for $16 bucks. Now I have a reason to see if the PS3 I’ve had collecting dust for 5 years will actually turn on for the first time.
For clarification:
Valve has allowed people to make an HD version of VALVE's game without suing and is allowing them to give it to the public, free of charge.
Most developers these days make the HD remakes themselves and charge you for it.
Examples:
Devil May Cry HD
Silent Hill HD
There are differences between BM:S and HL, obviously, but the basics are there.
Try to copy any Call of Duty to the extent that BM:S did with HL and Activision will have the project shut down immediately.
It is still available for $29.99 by Amazon but OOS.
Check other sellers here:

Bioshock Infinite.
I've heard so many great things about this game. I just want it so bad.
Nada yet. If you go to the product page there's a link about in the middle of the page where they have a "would you like to:" and tell us about a lower price is one of the options.

Found this here. I'm really, really hoping I'm reading it wrong.

What kind of games do you like?
It recently dropped in price so how about Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition on Amazon for $19.99
You get get both Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare which make it an excellent value.
