Before I get started, I want to let you know that I was told not to work during my pregnancy. Luckily, we can afford for me to be a stay at home mom. I’ve been pregnant a few times and have two adorable kids, one seven and one three months. I am so glad I was given this advice because there is no way I could have been on my feet during my pregnancies.

Also, you can do this! It’s hard, but if you love kids as much as me, you’ll do anything to get them! I viewed my pregnancy pain as acute pain. It was going to have a stop date... I could do this!

Also, my pain level did get worse after each pregnancy. I want to be honest about that. I combat it with exercise. I try to exercise every day now so that I have enough energy to be as active as a mom as I can. I do not regret my babies at all. They are my pride and joy and their existence is worth it. On the flip side, being with them lowers my pain level because it helps to keep my mind off of the pain.

  1. Find a PT who has had coursework in pregnancy. Specially ask for coursework. Experience was not enough for me with my first pregnancy... she was horrible. My second pregnancy I had a PT I had worked with for a few years and she specifically took PD for pregnancy for me!
  2. Your OB does not need to have experience with fibro to be a great OB for you as long as they are willing to learn! Neither OBs I worked with had had a patient with bad fibro before. Both were so amazing because they were willing to learn as things came up. The only thing I insisted is that I see them for all OB appointments and that they try their best to deliver me... and they both did! I also interviewed my OBs. This was easy to do in city 1. City 2 did not have a procedure to do this. I pushed back and explained that I was disabled and needed to find the best one to take care of me as a result. Second I said disabled, they made it happen. Only reason I had two different ones was because I moved across country.
  3. You may need to take opioids during pregnancy. Take the smallest amount possible. If you do, demand to have a consult during pregnancy to see a neonatologist at the hospital where you are delivering. They can help put your mind at ease. Talk to them about the hospitals protocol for babies born with any amount of narcotic in their system. They may have a longer stay. Find out the protocols for monitoring them for withdrawal. Find out who will be monitoring them for this...
  4. Pregnancy support bands are a must when you start to get big. They aren’t pretty, but you can barely see them when you are wearing clothes.

  5. Stay active during your pregnancy! Walk everyday. At least 20 minutes at 60-80% of the target heart rate for your age. You get endorphins this way that will help with the pain. You also will have more energy after the baby comes this way. When I got further along, this got harder. I got this to use as a sitting bike or an arm bike to make exercising easier. I continue to use it as an arm bike for the days I have trouble walking.

A lot of my problems lie in my SI joints too. I've been putting off having my SI joints fused because I don't want to go under the knife, but my pain management doctor likes to bring it up every other visit. Having to adjust them multiple times a day does get to be pretty tedious, though.

I use this SI joint belt: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00169Z7AW/
It works pretty well, but it always needs to be re-adjusted whenever I stand up from sitting. But I think that's normal for any belt you'd have to wear. Fortunately it is comfortable and does seem to help prevent my pelvis from wrecking itself.

Anti-spasm meds help a lot, and slapping on a salonpas makes the pain better too. I also notice that there are different types of SI pops for me. Some are small that only give me temporary relief, and others are the big massive pops that bring me significant relief (and freak out my husband). The interlocking your ankles and pulling your legs apart move I do a lot throughout the day when I'm working at my desk. But once I'm in bed, I lay on my side, and then do something similar to this (sans the door frame). That usually gives me the good pop I need to get me through the night.

All that being said, I have noticed my pain and SI joint problems are worse when I'm more sedentary. They improve when I start walking more. Core training and PT has never really been able to fix things for me better than simple walks in the park a few times a week.

Good luck.

Oh definitely! And thanks for asking! That's super thoughtful of you. Generally speaking, anything thats related to their animal(fursona) of choice will be a good idea! Such as plushies, art/photos, accessories, etc.

Here's some quick examples based off of common furry/animal preferences (all should be under $20 I think):

Husky 1, Husky 2, German Shepard, Fox, General furry ear hat with different ear color options, Dragon mouse pad for the furry who is also a gamer maybe?, Snow leopard print blanket

If they have a favorite movie/show with animals in it, any merch or collectables from that might be a good idea as well! I hope that helps some, if none of those examples fit their fursona or animal of preference and you're stumped, feel free to ask more questions or PM me their character for more ideas if you need for your gifteee.

Don’t listen to the people commenting on this negatively. I have scoliosis and have tried everything, EVERYTHING under the sun to manage back pain. This device corrected my posture within a few days and has reduced my daily back pain from about a 7 to a 2. The device doesn’t “correct” your posture inherently, but rather helps you to remember to correct and shows you good technique so that you know how to do it yourself. Yes you absolutely need to work on it independently, but this helps so much starting out.

Posture Corrector for Men & Women... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DKHTKP3?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

The reviews are mixed, but if you’re of average size it should be ok. It’s worth a shot for 15 bucks.

Made this account just to leave this comment.. first Reddit post from a lurker woo! Hope it works out for you.

Edited to add that I didn’t do much research before buying as it was an impulse buy. There may be better out there with better design/ materials etc., but this one has worked out just fine for me so far. It is slightly annoying to wear, but definitely worth it.

u/Freddyfunkalicious · 1 pointr/Cello

My issue was due to sitting at a desk all day with poor posture. I bought this back brace thing that helped to correct the underlying problem. I would highly recommend it if you think the problem is from sitting poorly.

Also, I made a diy neck hammock for cervical traction. I felt like it gave me a little relief, but nothing extraordinary.

Finally, there is a neural glide where you make an upside down ok sign over your eye. You can find a bunch of videos on youtube, but these guys show it in the last minute of their video... they also have some other interesting insights that might be enlightening.

Best of luck, and I really hope you heal faster than I did!

u/princessbitchface · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I have two, but can only really give my personal experience with them.

The first is one of those elastic tubes that you can also use to hold up your pants in the beginning. It really doesn't provide much in the way of support, but doesn't show lumps and bumps under clothes. I tend to wear it for short days out or if I know I'll mostly be sitting.

The second is this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009M2U0LQ/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1. The band over the top didn't seem to do anything for me, as the belt tended to slip up if anything, so I stopped using that part (it attaches with Velcro, so I just took it off). The support is really good but it does appear lumpy/ bulky under clothes, though it helped my back enough I didn't care and wore it pretty much daily anyway. I have recently noticed that the band has developed some creases, which not only dig in, but also seem to make the weight not distribute as evenly. So, I haven't been wearing it very often. I don't think it was particularly well made and definitely won't be able to use it for future pregnancies.

u/KingWestern · 1 pointr/Twitch

I use a c920 with https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00MHTNZQ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this for lighting, literally one light. Two would be better, one from each side to minimise shadow but it works pretty well with one in a near front on position.

I wouldn't bother with a green screen unless you're really committed to that aesthetic, a nice webcam border with the cam a bit smaller looks just as good in my opinion, just minimise the clutter behind you!

u/xaudionegative · 1 pointr/intermittentfasting

This is the brace in question. It says it's unisex, but the way it adjusts makes it a lot harder for smaller women (it can't really get small enough for my wife, she's 5'5 and about 110). As far as how often, before I started IF and exercising, I wore it daily for about 6 hours over the course of 2 weeks, specifically when I was at work and sitting down, or when at home sitting down. My standing posture is pretty good naturally, but my sitting posture is really slumped, and this helped correct it.

After I started exercising daily (50 pushups in the morning, then 60 situps at night, 60 reps of freeweight bench or military presses, and every once in a while bicep curls or shoulder lifts), I found I didn't really need the brace anymore when sitting, I could just tell when I was slumping and corrected it. Still, I'm going to keep it around, its a really comfortable brace and it's easy to throw on and off at will.

u/Peachmaru · 2 pointsr/InfertilityBabies

This is the only belt I can leave the house in: Maternity Belt - NEOtech Care ( TM ) Brand - Pregnancy Support - Waist / Back / Abdomen Band, Belly Brace - Black Color - Size XXL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GO2MU50/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_tTKGFxmnpBN3E. This one is better than others that look like it because the front is like the non-rough velcro side instead of fabric. Either one is good, but this is lasting longer.

I've tried two others, they are one piece and wrap over themselves in the back. I was not impressed. Maybe because they were too small or maybe because of where my pain is. I have also used baby wraps. You can use either a stretchy one (like a Moby) or a woven one (like a Tula) and there are videos on YouTube. This is good if you plan to baby wear after the baby arrives, just be careful not to wrap too tight on the hips, trust me.

I have SPD and not really back pain, so my pain relief needs could be different. But that's been my experience this pregnancy.

u/zinconinco13 · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

Hey there! I’m 21 weeks with twins and SPD so I feel qualified to jump in here. I started with one of those under the belly bands and it really didn’t help at all. Sometimes I wear it around the house for light support but it’s just not sturdy enough. My husband ordered me this bad boy off Amazon and it’s way better. It feels super secure and supportive, like you’re locked in place, but it’s not totally uncomfortable. It is pretty annoying to have to finagle every time you go pee but it’s worth it to not be in crippling pain by the end of the day.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

I have two recommendations:

(1) This is one of my favorite air fresheners: http://www.amazon.com/American-NA222-6-Citrus-Orange-Freshener/dp/B00173U7D4

You can buy it at Wal-Mart stores (at least in my area) for half the Amazon price. It smells very strongly of natural oranges, so it doesn't fit the bill for subtle unless you use it sparingly.

(2) Yankee Candles. They are kinda expensive but they work. They used to have an awesome leather-scented candle that has sadly been discontinued (you can still get that scent in their car air fresheners though). Another great manly scent is called "Midsummer's Night". EDIT: I see that Midsummer's Night has already been recommended a bunch.

u/TotoroTomato · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

For your back, heating pad and maternity support belt. I really like this one, it is serious business: https://www.amazon.com/Maternity-Belt-NEOtech-Pregnancy-Support/dp/B00CL21UPO/ref=sr_1_5_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1511230174&sr=1-5&keywords=Maternity%2Bbelt&dpID=514sGGPl85L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch&th=1

Some kind of belly oil or cream to help with the itching.

Maybe a maternity photo shoot? Not my kind of thing but seems like a nice gift!

u/Brainlesslyfalling · 3 pointsr/BabyBumps

Hi- I have an umbilical hernia and honestly the best solution for me was just not bending over and lifting unless absolutely necessary. So I had to give up some jobs for awhile such as picking up dog poop in the back yard, for instance. I bought this belt ( https://www.amazon.com/Maternity-Belt-NEOtech-Pregnancy-Support/dp/B01GO2M7DU/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=belly%2Bband&qid=1573741034&sr=8-8&th=1 ) from amazon. I adjusted the band over where my hernia would bulge and I think it helped some.

I'm 39 weeks now and I will say that, at least for my umbilical hernia, it eventually moved as my uterus grew and I have not felt it bulge out in a few months now. So hopefully hers will do the same!

u/bigevil80 · 5 pointsr/xxfitness

In terms of exercises, the ones I would recommend would involve your shoulders retracting back (face pulls, pull ups).

The best method is just a mindset of keeping the shoulders back when sitting (it's hard, but it will help you over time). Also, if you have bands at the gym, use the bands to strengthen your rotator cuff muscles.

There are contraptions that help you with posture; but, I've never tried those.

u/periodicBaCoN · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I've never used one, but if you search for belly support band or something like that, amazon has options. This one has good reviews and the answers have opinions from people that say they've used it for running. I haven't noticed any bouncing of my belly when running yet at 17+4.

u/emit140 · 1 pointr/pregnant

I’m 28w and this back brace/support band has saved me so much discomfort. My doctor let me know the branded stuff (like Belly Band) is often over priced for what it does. Bought my close friend who is having twins the same one and she loves it. Pregnancy Support Band

u/Kit-Kat1319 · 2 pointsr/pregnant

maternity belt

This is the one my husband got for me, and it’s WONDERFUL. He read the reviews and literally everyone said to stay away from a small. I’m a pretty small girl, and the medium is perfect for me.

u/orngchckn · 1 pointr/Ultralight

The regular RidgeRest already has an r value of 2.6 which should be OK at 20 degrees. I have multiple CCF pads and quilts and just tried layering them and the comfort level was marginally different at best. I would just get a sit pad such as the Thermarest Z seat or this one to put under your feet.

u/muffetskicky · 4 pointsr/AprilBumpers2018

Maternity Belt - NEOtech Care Brand - Pregnancy Support - Waist / Back / Abdomen Band, Belly Brace - White Color - Size L https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CL21UPO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oiJEAb0QB9J6F

I have this one. I did my normal size and don't wear the band over the top. It works great for me!

u/veritaszak · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I got this one and love it. I swear it for every run, but also wear it when I'm walking a lot or at the end of the day when my belly/back start to get sore. Highly, highly recommend. If you have ab tight/soreness this belt is really great for that too.

u/RobotPixie · 3 pointsr/loseit

In the meantime could you get a maternity sling?

Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Maternity-Pregnancy-Support-Waist-Abdomen/dp/B009M2GY0C

It's specifically designed to support the stomach (ok so you have no baby but the concept is the same). It won't be as hot and constrictive as a body shaper

Good luck!

Vibo Care posture corrector, $17.99 USD
Inspired by the succession of people posting photos of themselves on this sub hunkered over their controllers, it reminded me of how oblivious we are to our posture when we're in the zone. A normal gig for me is 6 hours of playing, and I know I'm not practicing good posture the whole time. Instagram starting flashing these ads for this product, so I thought I'd give it a try for a measly $20. Used it a few times while at gigs, and I can't tell if it helps or not. It feels like a tiny backpack, and gets uncomfortable over a long period of time. That said, one is supposed to wear it for a short amount of time, day to day.

Pyle Pro PLPTS55 Laptop Stand, $45.99 USD
Purchased this for a club I'm a resident at, and a cheap replacement to the comparable UDG Creator Laptop Stand, at about $140 cheaper. Modular, folds for portability, and has a telescopic height adjustment.

Hudson Hi-Fi Isolation Feet, $25.50 USD
Purchased these for my Pioneer-DDJ 1000SRT to give it some lift and offer some shock absorption. Adhered some velcro stick to them so I can apply as needed. After a few uses, I find them a little too rubbery, so if I'm heavy on the jog wheels, I encounter some wobble on the whole controller. One who doesn't scratch or manually cue might have better results.

White gaffers tape, $20.81 USD (prices vary)
In providing my own gear, and working events in different spaces, I like to commit to the details, conceal any network of cables, and have a clean presentation. In this case, I use this in white rooms with white floors and /or walls; other venues call for other colors. Pro-tip: Write "DJ" or something as an identifier on the side of the tape or inside of the paper roll in the event it wanders off. I've accidentally permanently borrowed and vice versa.

u/throwaway83963840565 · 3 pointsr/xxketo

I like mine! I tried one that I don't recall the brand of, then gave it to my SO and got this one which I like much better, it sits further out on my shoulders so it pulls them back better. I wear it for a few hours a day at my desk. It's still definitely possible to slouch while wearing one, so you do have to do a little work, but having it on helps me be more conscious of my sitting position anyway.

u/pinkstar85 · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I got this one by NeoTech

I was looking at the more expensive serola one but my chiropractor said something wider would actually work better for me. Bonus that it was under $20!

u/TippyTumbles · 1 pointr/January2018Bumpers

I am pretty plus sized and needed something that would actually come in a size I could use so I got this one. I LOVE it. It's a completely ridiculous contraption, I wouldn't wear it every day, but for when it's a Saturday and I'm buzzing around trying to get chores done it's really amazing.

u/kezrin · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I went through a couple of belts before I found this one which I love.

Note: The top belt is supposed to help hold it in place. I’ve never used it and it’s always worked fine.

I know I slouch, and while I'm working on that, and things are getting better now that I'm lifting on the regular, I wonder, is something like the posture corrector linked below a gimmick, does it actually help, or will it inhibit/hurt me at all? Any thoughts?

Not An answer... but when I was younger my parents bought me one of these and they helped great! I even wore them during school and nobody would notice.

This has been a lifesaver for me and pretty much cured my back pain.

Found this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006D2RB/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The price was reasonable, the reviews were generally positive, but I just ordered it a couple days ago, so not sure how I like it yet :) I figured I can always cinch it up with my sewing machine if it's not quite perfect. My OB recommended one that has shoulder straps, which makes sense to me!

Awesome, trying to find it on amazon now

EDIT: Gottems, coach

I've been using an Anker CD mount for a couple of years now and it's held up very well to very hot summer temps and very cold winters.

Edit: looks like Anker no longer sells that particular model. But Choetech sells one exactly like it.

I recently bought a gallon of rubbing alcohol:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OZ3ROSE

I doubt I'll ever need it, but if I do, that price can't be beat.

Someone mentioned putting it in a weed sprayer. Amazing idea.

u/msgrump · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

Sorry didn't mean to scare anyone. It really may work for you and I hope it does. But I wanted to share my experience.

u/scarybusride is right. The one I got was this http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CL21UW2/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1454001769&sr=1&keywords=belly+band (sorry on mobile, don't know how to format)

About 9 years ago now, I was doing tech support for a Dial-Up ISP in Michigan. It was an awesome job, you could smoke inside, and we sat around playing unreal tournament all night.

It was Thanksgiving day and I was working I started at 4pm. I noticed I forgot to put on deodorant that day and was smelling pretty ripe. I sprayed some of this in my armpits. And experienced the worst burning sensation ever.

I had to call the number on the back of the bottle and talk to the lady that answered who couldn't believe what I did. She told me to rinse it out (which i tried unsuccessfully in the bathroom sink, I also tried putting lotion on it) Neither of those helped. So she told me to put Vaseline on it, there was a Walgreens across the street so I bought the largest tub they had.

So I'm sitting at work with greased up armpits Vaseline citrus smelling armpits. And a dripping wet shirt.

TLDR: Only put deodorant in your armpits.

I use this Anker CD slot holder and it works pretty well.

Amazon has 128 ounces of 70% Isopropyl alcohol for $0.10/ounce with prime shipping here. As others have mentioned though, grow shops and hardware stores will be your best bet.

I'm going to try the Medela Support Band when running starts hurting. I've heard good things about it.

There's also this Prenatal Cradle that looks kinda intimidating but probably helpful.

Citrus oil works twice as fast with no toxins.
I've seen crews removing 1000s of stickers in retail resets with 100% pure citrus oil air freshener spray. NOTHING works better, for sticker removal, leaving a super clean surface. Retail reset people who are tasked with 1000s of sticker removals per week are the ones who have tried literally everything, from surgical tape removal fluid, to every product and secret internet trick ever conceived.

I got one of the CD-slot phone mounts for two reasons:

  1. By positioning the phone lower it keeps my forward field of vision clearer than a window mount, and
  2. Keeping the phone on the center line allows backseat passengers to follow their progress via the familiar Google Maps nav (which I bring up whether I need it or not, just so they can see I'm on the fucking blue line, which cuts down on backseat driving).

Ed: This is the one I got. It holds the phone super-steady and has a quick-release right behind where your hand already goes to unplug when you're going mobile.

This pregnancy support belt worked wonders for me! Under $20, too!

Would something like this work?

u/pmmedenver · 1 pointr/Fitness

I've spent the last 3 or 4 years trying to correct my shoulder. I did way too much bench as a kid (literally only bench), and my left shoulder is so tight I'm amazed I didn't snap something back in the day. Now I stretch it every damn day, I have weird marks on my bicep (I must have damaged a blood vessile from all the stretching at some point), and I can't even bench / row much anymore because when I do it with proper form my tendons are so sore from all the stretching that it just hurts too much. I reach tendon failure before I ever even give the muscles a good workout. I think I'm getting close to finally growing my shoulder into proper place, but Jesus Christ it took me 3 or 4 years of really hard stretching just to get here. Often times I will stretch so hard that my arm goes numb and starts to turn a kind of purply color. All I want is to be able to make regular gains just like regular people but these fucking tendons are just not long enough. This thing has been a god-send for stretching. I feel like such a weirdo because most people don't have problems like this. I've been lifting on and off now (properly) for a couple years now and my max bench is still 135 x 4 and I can only do like 6 pullups.

Similar size as you and I got this one in a medium: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GO2Q2YA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_AhyIybGA2EHC3

That's the style my midwife recommended. The band that goes across the top is optional for extra support but I don't ever use it as it doesn't seem necessary.

This stuff absolutely melts any sticky residue. It's 100% citrus oil.

It also doubles as badass air freshener. You might not use a whole bottle of goo be gone but that works too.

I have that. It securely goes in the majority of CD drives, it hasn't fallen out, doesn't seem to cause damage and has a plug spot right in the bottom middle.

They sell those posture corrector braces that force you to maintain a correct posture. It’s annoying, but works as long as you consistently wear it.

I didn't know this existed, and it seems so much better than the air vent clips. What do I need to type into Amazon to find this mount? I need this in my life because fuck my car's shitty nav system.

Edit: found one! can't wait for this.

I bought a maternity belt. It was a complete waste of money. It was so uncomfortable to wear and didn't support my back at all. It just added pressure around my belly which made everything MORE uncomfortable. This is the one I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GO2M7DU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
