> What is the durability of the back case? I saw a video of it cracking kind of easy.

It's glass, curved glass at that, so not very durable. It may take some small drops if you're lucky and it doesn't fall flat on the back, but other than that, don't expect much. Definitely buy a case if you're worried about it.

>Any recommendations on cases

I'm fond of my Spigen Liquid Air Armor (S8/S8+). It's slim, but still feels somewhat protective. It's not the most protective thing out there, but to me it provides a good balance of protection and grip while being slim (not a huge fan of cases). It's also cheap at only $10.

>I'm on a note 3 currently so a big upgrade overall. Anything crazy different ui wise or is still the sameish TouchWiz we've all come to love?

I haven't used the Note 3, but from what I've seen of it the UI is drastically different in a good way. They've majority toned down their modifications. It's still nowhere near Stock, and has a nice selection of features, but it's not as intrusive as before. It also looks nice IMO, they've gotten rid of the sickly green they used to use everywhere (although, they've replaced it with mostly white, which I'm fine with but some people aren't into). They also have themes and we have preliminary Substratum support, so it should also be fairly easy to customize to your liking.

>How was it getting used to the odd aspect ratio?

Not hard at all. I enabled full screen mode for most of my apps (the exception being games that don't stretch well), and for the most part they don't have any weird issues stretching to fill the screen. I thought it would be nice being able to see more vertically, but I honestly haven't noticed it much.

The times I do notice it is moving back. Using a 16:9 screen feels really weird, especially since most of the phones using it also have big bezels. Everything looks fat and stubby. It's weird, moving up I didn't notice it much, but moving back down it feels super weird.

I bought this AB86 band for my nexus, total was 24$ but that was for shipping within the US.

As for the armband. The phone fits perfectly into the band, easy in and out. Swiping is decent, towards the edges of the phone I sometimes need to swipe a few times to get it to work right. The phone also fits into the band when it has a cruzerlite Cover on, Its a little snug so when you are taking the phone out you sometimes have to wiggle it pretty good back n forth or peel the band back a little bit to get a good hold of the phone and get it out.

The ear-bud wrap is useful so you don't have some cord flailing around smacking you in the face the whole time you run like your in some bad porno.

The armband didn't feel secure at all when I first started using it. I kept tightening that strap over and over until I couldn't feel my arm anymore before it actually felt secure, I imagine I looked like Quasimodo running down the street with one half of his upper body paralyzed... When I got over that I realized the band would still have to slide down my arm I started to loosen it up. I found its a fine line between secure and comfortable, but the strap can be surprisingly loose and still stay right in place on my arm.

If you use one of those military grade plastic wet application screen protectors DO NOT USE this armband with it. My wife went through 2 XO protectors and a Zagg one. Basically the plastic on the armband adheres to the plastic on the phone protector, when you try and peel it off it pulls up the protector as well causing micro bubble under the protector and also causes tiny little rips.

I dont use my screen very often when running so I was looking into getting one of these. My biggest complaint is after a good run that little strap on the armband can start to cut off circulation even when loose. I like the idea of a more covered full arm sleeve for comfort and better protection of the phone when im running outside and it starts to rain.

Thanks for a very kind user from this subreddit, I've been liberated from my old cracked cellphone :). I received my phone no later than a week (business days) after it was processed; placed the order on the 18th, received it earlier today (27th).

I ordered the Tudia Slim-Fit Dual Layer case along with a Nillkin 9H tempered glass for my OPO, and both of them feel great; couldn't be happier with my purchase. Some people have said the Tudia case is a bit tough to take off the phone, but that isn't the case for me. The Nillkin screen protector feels very nice. I've never had a tempered glass screen protector; so I can't really compare it to anything other than that it feels 1000x better than a film screen protector. I'll admit, I wanted to put a film protector over my Nillkin for more protection, but I'm pretty confident that my screen will stay safe regardless with these two products.

The phone itself is a beauty. I underestimated how good it would feel until I actually picked it up. The sandstone texture on the back of the phone feels amazing, I thought it would feel a bit too rough, but it feels really nice. I am sad that I don't trust myself with this phone without a case though. Size doesn't feel too big (although I do have fairly large slender hands) and the power and volume buttons feel tactile (some have said it's too recessed, not in my case). Coming from a phone where the power button was located at the top of the phone, the side power button feels much more ergonomic and easier to access of course. I do wish that the screen resolution was quad HD (like the LG G3), but I really can't complain about anything at this price point.

I made a thread asking users about what they didn't like about the OPO, and my biggest concerns were the yellow tint at the bottom of the screen (that was only an early production defect AFAIK), camera responsiveness, random resets (with the new update), and battery issues. So far, the only thing that I have encountered is a bit of the camera lag (hopefully they will fix this with a patch), and what seems to me like poor reception :S. With my old phone, I was able to get 70-80% bars with LTE signal, but on the OPO, I'm getting around 60% bars with E/H+/3G signal, not LTE. My carrier operates LTE on bands 700/1700/2600, all of which OPO is listed to support :. I haven't tested this outside of my neighborhood; so I'll find out if I can get LTE anywhere tomorrow.

Overall; I love this phone. NO RAGRETS.

I've been extremely happy with the Whitestone Dome. I did 2 of them (first my Note 10+, then my wife's). They sell it in a 2-pack which brought the price down to about $30 per. Still 3x as much as for any other tempered glass protector I've purchased but it's definitely a much better product in that the liquid adhesive really does a great job on the curved screen.

It's definitely the kind of thing that would be perfect for a service business (mall kiosk, etc) to install since there's a lot to absorb and learn and my second one took 1/2 the time as the first. But if you're careful and plan it out well it's not especially hard. I'd say be especially patient for the glue to spread (I waited 3 minutes, not 1:20 or whatever they recommended) and be patient with the UV light (I probably cured it for 10 minutes rather than 5).

I also did it last thing in my day so I was able to leave it out on the counter for several hours while I slept. That's not to say that one might not also be perfectly successful at it with the times given but these all seemed like areas of the process where more time couldn't hurt and since I hope to keep the phone and the protector for years, investing a few more minutes was no big deal.

The end result you really can't even tell it's on there except for the cutout at the top. Oh, and another key thing I think is a case that doesn't interfere. We both use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SSW6DB2 and the case doesn't touch the protector anywhere which I think helps a lot with the protector staying attached.

See update here which includes a Ringke case review:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/6a6syd/update_four_thin_cases_reviewed_1/

Original post:

Top to bottom:

  • elago (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHFYJM7/)
  • Bear Motion (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XRVK3WS/)
  • Maxboost mSnap (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS8R8TK/)
  • Spigen Thin Fit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XP54BCW/)

I've been trying out these four thin cases. In the image you can see my S8 face down in each case, with a Verizon tempered glass screen protector on. You can see the edge of it, a white line which curves downward at each end.

I'm thinking of removing the screen protector, so I took these photos to see which case would provide the most protection when the S8 is face down without a screen protector. The Spigen has a raised lip at the top and bottom of the case that just barely keeps the screen protector off the surface below. The Maxboost lips are about even with the screen protector. The Bear Motion lips barely rise above the S8 screen, and there are no lips on the elago.

The Spigen is the most robust case and is the biggest weighing 18 grams, has a raised lip around the camera for extra protection (you can see it in the bottom picture), has space for a metal plate for a magnetic car mount (if you like that sort of thing), and is made of a grippy matte material. Definitely this feels like the case with the most protection. Very nice.

The Maxboost is slightly smaller than the Spigen and weighs 17 grams. It's matte material is a bit less grippy and the buttons aren't as easy to press because the openings aren't cut away like the Spigen. There is no raised lip for the camera. I like it though because it is slightly smaller than the Spigen.

The Bear Motion is made of a sandy feeling matte material that provides great grip. It is about the same size as the Maxboost but only weighs 13 grams and has cut-away button openings and a very small raised lip for the camera. I like it too!

The elago is extremely thin, weighing only 5 grams. It is barely bigger than the phone itself. It is so thin that mine got a small rip near the power button on the right when I was taking it on and off, and the left side is slightly loose, not as snug as the right. Buttons are easy to press as they actually protrude beyond the sides of the case! It is matte, grippy but not quite as grippy as the others. It also has a small raised lip for the camera. It feels great in the hand but doesn't give confidence as it has no protection to speak of except for scratches and fingerprints.

Although size-wise the Spigen is my least favorite, I may end up using it because it inspires the most confidence, seems like it might do better in a drop situation, while protecting the screen better when the phone is face down due to having the largest top and bottom lips, and also the biggest lip around the camera.

Like many others have said, get a launcher, LGs stock launcher is OK, but Nova is just simply better.

I have been using a [Spigen Rugged Armor case](Spigen Rugged Armor LG V20 Case with Resilient Shock Absorption and Carbon Fiber Design for LG V20 2016 - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0HW9P4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Qe8zybKKK66H0) since I got this device and it is great. It doesn't take away from the feel of the device, but I am comfortable handing it to my two year old to watch videos or play around with the screen.

I'm not a huge audiophile but I would like to say that from my experience, the headphones from the promo are nothing special, I actually think the Samsung ones that came with my Note 7 sound just as good with the DAC. Hopefully someone can be of help to you here, I'm going to be keeping an eye on the thread for this part as well!

Welcome!

Edited to add link to case

Second one is way too thick on the edges. My wife has the first one on her iPhone 6S and it's a great case. Buttons are free floating and nice and clicky. Does scratch/scuff really easy though, just FYI. Might want to replace it every 6 months like she does because it just looks dirty and ruins the clarity after enough regular use. You'll see.

I've ordered 3 Spigen cases so far:

[Spigen Liquid Crystal Galaxy S8 Plus Case] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP4QY2B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_l1Esrmt4SeapO)

[Spigen Thin Fit Galaxy S8 Plus Case with SF Coated Non Slip Matte Surface - Black] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP4LGHJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_yqDyxiHODk9R9)

[Spigen Air Skin Galaxy S8 Plus Case - Black] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XP5JSRL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oky.ybYW997M0)

I've only had the chance to try the first two, and the Liquid Crystal case sucks. The buttons aren't separate from the rubberish case and they're mushy. I won't deal with mushy buttons.

Ordered the Thin Fit instead and it's better but the material is a cheap hard plastic that reminds me of lower quality android phones or the older S2/S3 models. There are also breaks in the corners so you can snap it in because the plastic is so hard, and it kinda ruins the rounded, flowing aesthetic. The hard plastic cutouts on the bottom for ports and such cut into my fingers when the phone rests on it and that sucks. The areas for buttons are cut out completely which is really nice, since I like direct access to buttons. Definitely better than the Crystal, still not great at all.

The third gets here tomorrow and I'll review it when it does. It still has cutouts for the buttons which I like but they are smaller, which means more protection which I also like. The material also has no corner breaks and it's very thin while also tinted black and partially transparent, so hopefully some of the shine and aesthetics come through. The best part about it for me that I think I'll like the most is that the entire bottom is cut out, so I can rest my phone more comfortably on my fingers. I know it's almost practically just a skin on the back since it's so thin, but it has adequate corner protection and I take good care of my phones. Main goal is to avoid scratches and the occasional light fall.

If the last one doesn't work out I'll just get a transparent Neo Hybrid (first one you linked, not OP's). I at least know the quality of that case. I just wanted something a bit thinner this time around. Oh well.

I looked around as well, and finally purchased the Tune Belt... I wear it almost daily when I go out cycling. A couple of things:

  • I don't think its listed as a feature, but I sweat like a motherfucker and my phone always comes out dry.
  • It has this little flap that you can wrap your headphone cord around in order to shorten it so you wont have your cord dangling everywhere as you exercise.
  • Touch sensitivity stays way up there, I was very pleasantly surprised.
  • I read a bunch of reviews saying the armband was too short and they had to buy the arm band extender. Personally, I didn't buy it, and I think the length is fine - but keep in mind a lot of people say it isn't long enough for them. I think the extender is like $2 though, but don't quote me on that.
  • Has three holes in the bottom to be as universal as possible - just so happens that it works, because one of the holes is right where the headphone jack is.

Anyway, yeah - good product, I'm happy, good luck with your purchase :)

It’s kind of expensive but I just got this one last week and absolutely love it. Super smooth in hand and extremely strong. Probably won’t protect much if you drop the phone but works for scratches and camera bump protection.

I got the Bear Motion and Trianium cases on Amazon. The Trianium is a bit more protective, but a little slipperier than I like. It also seems to have a pretty tall, sharp lip on the front. The Bear Motion is very minimal, not protecting the top/bottom edge, but I love the sandstone, grippy feel.

Still wish there was a Pixel XL version of this case though. Loved it on my 6P.

u/xpen25x · 1 pointr/oneplus

i use a blitzwolf car charger. its not dash charge but it honestly charges the 3 up pretty quick. also has a usb port for a second cable.

i bought a cheap tpu case from amazon for the 3 it has worked great though since its clear it has discolored in the past 2 years as tpu will pull oils in from your hands. but for 8 bucks.

i bought a glass screen protector but since the case fit over the sides and the glass was a tad too wide it wouldnt allow the protector to fit flush as the case would put pressure on the protector and lift it. without a protector i have no visible scratches in 2 years

Alright, everyone keeps telling you to be careful, which I guess you already know, i'm going to give you the benefit of a doubt and say that maybe you cracked it once by accident, it happens, and the second time was because your phone screen was already weak from being replaced... I'll say it's no fault except bad luck. Shit happens.

My recommendation is just bite the bullet on spending a little more than you want to for phone protection, it will save so you much money in the long run. Screens are $200 - $300 dollars to replace, when you can just spend $75 now and protect it. So here's what i think will help.

  • Get a case
  • The one that is most reccomended after me spending DAYS going through threads and looking for solid cases is the Spigen Neo Hybrid ($13.99). Slim case with actual protection.

  • Get a screen protector
  • Also through my research is that the TG (Tempered Glass) protectors are all awful except for the Whitestone Dome ($44.99). Is a hard pill to swallow but it's the only glass that fits well, no reduction in sensitivity, and has full screen adhesive to keep from having those ugly rings around the edge of your screen or having those black bars. I reccommend this because you seem to crack your phone, rather than scratch it, this may save your screen a ton.

  • If you reeeallyy don't want to swallow the $50 then most people just go with a wet applied film to just help from scratches and possibly a minor crack. Most people settle for the IQ Shield LIQuid Skin ($7.85). It's just a skin but it may save you in the end.

  • Get a stand
  • It will keep your phone more secure on your desk rather than having to deal with knocking it off when reaching for your glasses. Any cheap stand can work. I went with the Econstyle Stand ($7.99) because it's easy to move from my side table by my bed, to my desk by my compute. Just some extra security and ca keep your phone from getting any scratches from laying it face first on a hard surface.

  • If you want to get a little luxury you could always get Samsungs Fast Charging Wireless Charger ($39.99) which has a stand included so you just set your phone down and it's charging, but that's just extra luxuries and isn't necessary.

So you could spend a bit for some extra security that will save you time in the long run, or you can keep risking dropping your phone and breaking it. I bit the bullet and got the case, TG and stand and I haven't looked back. I actually dropped my phone first few days after having it, but thanks to my TG the damage was only there and it saved my screen completely.

this one , "Spigen Liquid Crystal"

VERY nice case, perfect mixture between drop safety and thinness

the only issue with it , like always with clear cases , is that its very prone to fingerprints.

by the way, is it just me or doesn't orchid grey look anywhere like on samsungs website ? its more like a dark grey, almost graphite like.

u/TomMelee · 2 pointsr/LGG3

I've got the Spigen AirCushion

FWIW, I think that as much as anything, the electrode placement on the sticker is the key here. A less good connection will work fine w/ no case, it has to be nearly perfect to work with a case. I do cellphone repair and so I have some weird tools, I actually didn't put the sticker on the way it's recommended.

I removed the back of the phone, placed 3m double sided 2mm tape on the battery, aligned the sticker perfectly, then replaced the cover and tested. When it worked, I removed the backing from the sticker itself and reattached the cover, pushed it down, then pulled it back off. The sticker coating is stronger than the 2mm tape, so it pulled it off, then I smooshed down the sticker for perfect adhesion and put it back on. Alignment is perfect, I couldn't make it work at ALL otherwise.

My girl and I are huge fans of Spiggen's "liquid air" cases for both of our S9s, and our S8s last year. They're slim enough, there's enough space between the side bezels and case for a screen protector to NOT get f***ed up from rubbing against the case, they look fairly minimalist, and they're inexpensive to boot. Because the loop around the top and bottom bezel is raised, it's saved my ass as I've dropped both my S9 and S8 face first on multiple occasions without a scratch or crack... Like, pretty nasty drops.

I've heard good things about the Whitestones or whatever they're called, but that's a lot of money for something you may mess up installing (people get nervous, or don't do it on 100% flat space, or they rush it), so I I've been apprehensive about purchasing them, and instead just get flexible film screen protectors and swap them out every few months. This is worked well for us, though it does feel a little rubbery and you know obviously it's not 100% clear like the glass protectors are. Delta Sheild makes these (I'm sure they're just about the same as everybody else that sells the thin film protectors that "self-heal", but they have excellent customer service and lifetime warranty for literally anything. You screw up the installation, or just get scratched up over the course of months, whatever... No matter the reason, they replace it for free of charge with no questions asked, and they always send you 2 per pack.

I have Caseology's other 2XL case, the Vault. Really happy with it. I was hoping Spigen would do a Slim Armor case for the 2XL, but they only have the bulkier Tough Armor. I had the Slim Armor series for my LG G3, and loved it. Caseology's vault has been perfect so far.

I ordered the google cloth case with my phone, but wasn't a fan. Also tried this thin "snap" case. I'll say this: it holds the phone very well. It was a pain in the ass to get the case off. Didn't like it because I didn't think it would protect the phone much, and there was no front lip to allow me to set the phone face down.

Still looking for a good tempered glass screen protector. How are you liking yours?

u/optikalblitz · 5 pointsr/iphone

Not a direct answer to your question, but I found Pitaka’s case and magnetic Qi charging vent clip to be the best combination. The steel plate that is molded into the case is circular which allows you to keep all wireless charging capabilities.

Magnetic Qi Mount

Mag Case

They also make a tougher case if you don’t like the slimline.

Hope this helps! I love my Pitaka stuff.

Don't think it would stop ribbons from coming loose, but I use these and they at least stop scuffs and scratches both on my walls and on the controllers as well. I'm sure they absorb a little bit of the impact in larger hits, but I doubt its anything substantial.

They are a great product though. I got them in white with for the HMD to match, and they both fit perfectly and look dope too.

I run without a screen protector but it should accommodate one pretty easily.

Not too intrusive but protects the phone well.

It's been a long time since I used a non tempered glass protector, I ended up buying the Skinomi ones and so far they've been fantastic. Really easy to install and all the bubbles were gone by the next day. I forgot one of the benefits of a wet application is that you slide it around and get it just right without having to pull it up and try and reset it. It sits over the sides perfectly and my case, a Spigen doesn't interfere with it. Worth a shot for 2 for $8.

u/Seraphus · 3 pointsr/GooglePixel

I've had smart phones since before the first iPhone and I've never used cases. I got a few for the Pixel. I love thin and minimalist design so I tried to get the least intrusive cases possible. My favorite ended up being the Bear Motion case with sandstone texture. Here it is if you're interested:

https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Slim-Case-Google-Pixel/dp/B01MA16WSH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479960381&sr=8-1&keywords=bear+motion

I got 4 other slim cases, maybe I'll post my reviews on them sometime if people are interested.

u/PolakOfTheCentury · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

My case comes up on top on the edge/infinity display by less than a millimeter and gives the phone an edge up above the screen just in case of a face down fall. when I place my phone on my desk face down. There's a minuscule amount of clearance between the screen and desk which is nice knowing that if I place it face down, I'm not rubbing the screen. This case is super slim though so no screen space or edge space is really impeded on. I got it off of amazon for cheap. It was $7.99 when I bought it and I would highly recommend it. You can actually see in the picture on amazon where they have the phone laying face up that the top and bottom of the case just barely go over the top of the screen.

That case is translucent? Looks like an opaque standard matte black case to me.

Cimo typically makes some quality translucent cases, with the option for opaque/matte black TPU as well.

I highly recommend this case though - it's honestly the best TPU case I've ever had (on my iPhone 7 Plus, just bought again for S8+)

Just bought the Spigen Slim Armor

I've had one on my N5 forever now and it's really impressed me. Not too thick but still does a great job of protecting the phone. The kickstand on the N6 case is an added bonus too!

u/tearsana · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I really like the mSnap case. Very slim and very sturdy, offers good protection against drops. The finish is very nice too (satin/felt like).

edit: lip over screen is just right, full coverage tempered glass friendly also a slight raise over the camera to protect the lens glass.

u/shadow0861 · 1 pointr/LGG3

This is the case. Fits perfect and great protection. Plus it is not made of the soft silicone that makes you turn your pocket inside out when you grab your phone.

Below is the ballistic glass screen cover. The easiest screen cover to put on. Comes with EVERYTHING you need to make sure your screen is clean before application. Still no scratches on mine after months. REMOVE THE BUILT IN PLASTIC SCREEN COVER FROM THE CASE TO USE THE GLASS SCREEN COVER.

That is also the one I'm rocking. I love it. It's stood up to dropping several times, and the kickstand comes in handy (although it's not quite up to par with the ahem Thunderbolt's that I used to have). The cutout for the M also helps make it easier to hold onto, and the blue one matches the N6 blue quite well unlike a lot of cases.

Looking at the Air Armor from Spigen after your suggestions. I really like the Orchid Gray, but none of the cases seem to look very good to my eyes when emulating it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XP87DGC/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2SFKRF5TPZMT5

Seems even the heavier-duty ones have reviews where the case didn't protect the phone from cracking. I expect it will still help a bit and mitigate damage from smaller falls, as well as make it easier to hold.

I'm looking forward to how the next-gen S# Active looks as that may be the route I take next time.

u/Undergallows · 3 pointsr/Vive

There are covers you can get.

They'll protect against scuffs, but obviously if you smash the thing hard enough you might just snap the plastic. I find the best way to avoid this sort of stuff is to just not go completely wild with my movement. There's also an application called [OpenVR Advanced Settings] (https://github.com/matzman666/OpenVR-AdvancedSettings) that lets you customize chaperone boundaries. It lets you adjust chaperone height, which might be helpful in giving you an idea of how high the ceiling is. .

u/danaholic86 · 2 pointsr/lgv20

I have this case and love it. Not thick at all, and very comfortable. Spigen Rugged Armor

Also basically any USB C dock will work. Just pick one with great reviews and you shouldn't be disappointed.

Depends on preference, I don't like bulky cases since I'm pretty careful with my phones so the Spigen Liquid Armor is perfect IMO. Offers adequate protection with a sleek non-bulky design and great grip.

Thats the case I bought when I first got my Pixel. I was tailgating and dropped my phone on the concrete and it slide face down about 10 feet away, i was worried to pick it up but the case did its job and didnt touch the screen or mark up my phone at all. It is pretty thin (not like the peel or mnml) I also have the spigen clear crystal and I keep coming back to the one i sent in the link. I also have the dbrand bumper which should be showing up today so I can report back on that as well.

I personally went with the spigen slim armor. It's a bit slippery but I'm confident in it's non-dramatic drop protection. The Unicorn Beetle PRO seems like a really good protective case as well

I'm currently sporting the Spigen ULTRA HYBRID Series [Gunmetal]. I've been a fan of Spigen cases from past phones, and am liking it for the LG G3. The only oddity is that it has the antenna cutout. Otherwise, looks good, feels good.

Looks like the Spigen version of the Supcase Unicorn Beetle.

ROM: (NOTE: I just checked and it was discontinued two weeks ago! Still usable of course.)

  • AlphaROM on xda. Comes with audio tools such as viper4android which let you toggle all sorts of improvements & effects for your headphones. LineageOS is also a decent universal option.

    Cable:

  • Anker Powerline+ Cable - Super durable usb cord with support for high transfer speed & charging speed (Quickcharge 3.0)

    Case:

  • Spigen Tough Armor or Rugged Armor Case - Simple solid cases with good protection and usability. (Not as beefy as an otterbox though)

Does anyone with the GelShell controller skins have a comment on whether they improve gameplay (i.e. feel better, controller easier to grip, etc)?

I don't care about looks and I'm not worried about my controllers getting scuffed, but I would consider buying if you think tactilely they feel better than original controller?

It does, I have THIS ONE. I wanted something tough that would go in and out of pockets rather easily. It fits really snug on the phone and is actually two pieces, it comes with a built in plastic screen protector that is pretty easy to remove if you want a different one or just don't want to use one.

If you have any specific questions about it I'd be happy to answer them.

I have these three, and that cheap one from Tauri is probably the easiest to put on and off - although they all pop on and off real easy. My favorite and daily is that gray Ringke - it looks so good on the phone, nice and classy, but still a one piece with a great texture that won't slip out of your hands - and again, dead easy to pop the phone in and out.

The point of these slim cases in my opinion is to protect from scratches from in your pocket or sliding across a table rather than dents and dings that you'd get if you dropped the device. I'd recommend this from personal use. It is slim, protective, and aesthetically pleasing.

I just received the Liquid Air Armor from Spigen, and I really like the feel of it. It's like that harder rubber, and the back has a nice pattern to it that provides grip. I've tried many different Spigen cases, and for me, the Thin Fit over time developed scratches that wouldn't go away. So that's why I opt'd for the Liquid Air this time.

I like and recommend Spigen cases to everyone.

u/Archanir · 2 pointsr/lgv20

I had an LG G3 with the Unicorn Beetle case. It was a great case. Felt good and lasted almost 2 years of drops. I haven't seen one made for the V20 yet so I decided to buy the Poetic phone case first and was disappointed with the feel of it. It covered the curves and felt cheap. Ordered the Ringke case and haven't thought twice about it. Phone feels nice in my hand still. The case looks good. And after my phone was dropped from the back of a moving forklift onto asphalt with no damage to phone or case, I can say I would recommend the case.

u/rottenstock · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

u/deegr8one · 3 pointsr/iphone

Best slim case I’ve owned, it is strong and thin. It goes on sale every once in a while. Got mine for $35. The other cool thing is it has built in steel plates and can still wireless charge.

u/neomancr · 1 pointr/GalaxyS8

I've dropped mine a good few times in this thing

Check this out at Amazon.com - Maxboost Galaxy S8 Case mSnap [Perfect Fit] [Black] Samsung Galaxy S8 Case Anti-Slip Matte Coating for Excellent Grip Thin Hard Protective PC Snap Case Covers for Samsung Galaxy s8 2017 - MB000097 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XS8R8TK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_XjfXzb9CGMN12

It grips on really tight so there's no chance the thing can plop out. there are raised lips at the top and bottom so as long as the thing falls on a flat surface the glass doesn't impact at all.

It works fine for me.

It definitely isn't a tank, but I'm pretty confident that as long as the glass itself doesn't make impact nothing will get damaged. the thing has a solid metal frame which is designed to absorb shock.

I personally trust it. I had the same exact case in my S7 and catapulted that thing across the room a few times by accident.

I hate fat cases too.

In my opinion I wouldn't get this case. It's a bumper case, yet it doesn't even protect the top and bottom at all. It's basically made to just protect the back of the phone from scratches. If anything I'd recommend the spigen air cushion case.

http://www.amazon.com/Spigen-CUSHION-Gunmetal-Scratch-Resistant/dp/B00K33N3GC

I have this case on right now and it feels really sturdy and could protect it from minor drops. The only down side to this case is that it has a cutout on the top left for the Korean version TV antenna. As long as you can deal with that, this case is awesome, not too thick but semi protective as well.

u/sapinighi · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

u/Nigo__ET · 1 pointr/iphone

Most slim cases like Peel’s will tend to get like that. I’ve tried both the Spigen and Elago thin cases and through time they tend to get loose and let dirt in between. I would highly recommend not going with these types of cases.

You might want to just look into this snap on cases like the following :

https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-iPhone-Premium-Coating-Compatible/dp/B074CM6PRW

For me personally these type of slim snap on cases are better as they tend to not run against the phone causing those little scratches

MaxBoost mSnap is my favorite. I had one for the OG Pixel and after trying the fabric case and the Power Support AirJacket for the Pixel 2 XL, this is the thinnest, least intrusive case that still has a lip on the front and extends past the camera on the back. The fingerprint reader is way easier to slide into versus the fabric case too.

I just ordered this armband for my N5. I had an armband from this company for my iPhone 5 and it was great. Tight fit for the phone takes some getting used to, but I'd recommend it.

u/nofate301 · 1 pointr/LGG3

I can recommend this case.

Feels solid in the hand and very rugged. doesn't add too much bulk

  1. I have the Spigen Liquid Crystal Clear. https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Crystal-Protection-Premium-Clarity/dp/B06XP4QY2B/ (make sure you get the S8 Plus version) It's not too thick and lets you show off the looks of the phone really well.

  2. Nova all the way.

I ordered this case from spigen, absolutely love their cases. Do you think the screen protectors you linked will be fine with the case? Cant decide between a tempered glass protector and this one from spigen.

u/Molloy1011 · 1 pointr/Android

I bought this Maxboost case for my S8 and I love it. Adds very little in the way of bulk to the phone and, while it's not super grippy, it makes it easier to hold than the naked glass.

Having learnt a very expensive lesson of having to have a cracked screen replaced after dropping my S8+ four days after getting it, it is now sporting a Spigen Neo Hybrid Case:

u/firiiri · 2 pointsr/oneplus

u/Mangobottle · 1 pointr/samsung

I have S8+ with this Spigen case and got the new Samsung fast wireless charger (the one that can be folded). It cannot charge with the case on. My mom with official Samsung S view flip case works perfectly fine.

I think going from 76% to full last night, fast charge said 49 min and I THINK the wired fast charge said 32min.

u/seth_success · 1 pointr/LGG3

The Spigen air cushion is a near perfect case. Its very slim with good drop protection and a clear back. The only issue is that there is an extra opening for the International version of the phone in the upper right corner. It might bother some people.

http://www.amazon.com/Spigen%C2%AE-CUSHION-Gunmetal-Scratch-Resistant/dp/B00K33N3GC/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1415284764&sr=1-1&keywords=g3+case

I also bought the Cailifu tempered glass protector.

u/mrouija213 · 2 pointsr/oneplus

I went with the MIME Ghost Glass tempered screen protector and a TUDIA Ultra Slim LITE TPU. The Ringke Fusion had too much gap above/below the screen protector which showed the metallic trim around the display. All three TUDIA cases fit roughly the same, but I prefer the plain black one. It was pretty much a perfect fit for what I wanted.

I use the Tune Belt armband, which works great even with the extended battery.

For my headphones, I use Sennheiser PX 100-II. They aren't exactly the most lightweight of options, but the sound quality is excellent and I have no issues with them coming off of my head during runs.

I love the quality and design of Spigen cases.

I'm looking at the Thin Fit, the Liquid Air Armor or the Ultra Hybrid for the normal Galaxy S8.

u/001100000 · 5 pointsr/oneplus

I'm using this one, after installing it you can see a bit of a matrix of dots, but only when off-angle and when the screen is off. Doesn't show in normal use with the screen on. Definitely worth the £9, knowing that OnePlus doesn't have the best customer service reputation. I'm using the OtterBox case that OnePlus has on their site, the screen protector works fine with it.

I prefer this one:

Spigen Liquid Air Armor Designed for Samsung Galaxy S9 Case (2018) - Matte Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0789T8P88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4X3HDb1A8Y5RS

Much less beefy and bulky. Fits on the hand well and does not add much weight or uncomfortable feel.

Spigen Neo Hybrid Designed for Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus Case (2018) - Gunmetal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0789S2LZH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EY3HDbXVZ92HX

This is a good alternative. But its does feel less ergonomic than the Liquid.

u/DynamicHawk · 2 pointsr/samsung

What i did, since they are basically the same, was look at the best cases for the S8 and S8+. Manufactorers are not going to reinvent the wheel when they only need to update the camera cutout.

I ended up going with this case if you need something to start with.

It was well rated for the S8. It was even higher rated for the iPhone versions.

I find the Nexus 6 super slippery on its own. I've always had one of these on my phone and it makes it super grippy without adding much bulk at all.

It looks like it's unavailable, but it was unavailable before and came back when I broke my previous one. Hopefully it comes back.

One of my favorite qualities is my hair. However, I loved it even more when I started using this. It's really lightweight, and I just spray it on after I get out of the shower. It's heat activated, so it almost encourages me to blow dry my hair instead of just leaving it to air dry when I'm lazy.

My sister introduced this sunscreen to me. It doesn't smell like sunscreen and it blew my mind how it felt like nothing was on. I'm really bad at remembering to put sunscreen on, so this is super important now that I've started running. Can't get sun damage already!

This sounds really weird, but I might be a little addicted to teeth whitening. I almost do it whenever I get bored, so I'm almost Ross from "Friends" level. Seriously. I'm scared they are gonna be glow-in-the-dark soon.

PS you sound beautiful already so ROCK. IT.

Here are two items I can't pick between! Sorry! Water bottle and armband

u/mini-jeckyl · 0 pointsr/GooglePixel

This one

It's definitely thicker than their hard plastic thin fit cases.

u/JavaMac5 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I've used this exact case for my past 3 phones (Note 7, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 XL) and I can't recommend it enough!! Very slim but it offers enough protection to save it from waist-level drops no problem.

Have probably dropped it 5-6 times since buying it and the case gets scratched up but the phone is flawless.

u/RapeytheClown · 10 pointsr/LGG3

I use this case http://www.amazon.com/Unicorn-Beetle-Full-body-Protective-Protector/dp/B00JW7APWU
and really like it. It has a screen cover case that is attached to the case with an adhesive and is easily removable if you don't like it.

u/TheUnchainedZebra · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

Spigen Liquid Air or Thin Fit. I have both, among other cases, and use the liquid air as my daily-use case. The thin fit is hands down one of the thinnest/lowest-profile cases you can get for your S9/+ that's still high-quality, and will keep the screen from touching any flat surface it's on (granted, it's only about a milimetre or less above the surface, and the case doesn't protect the side buttons). I'd go for the liquid air personally - it's a bit thicker while still being lower profile than most other cases, and will give a fair degree more protection than the thin fit.

I had a Ringke slim in white like you. I have a midnight blue 6 though. (just wanted to see what all the white fuss was about...) After two months of use it's become scratched and smudged and all that sticks out like a sore thumb on the white. It's not pretty...

In addition (and perhaps more importantly) it makes the phone slipperier than it already is!

I just got a Spigen Slim Armor in Metal Slate, which not only matches the nexus 6's colors to the T, it also is a bit grippier, thicker, and has a stand. First impressions say that I'm going to like it a lot more!

http://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Case-Spigen-Armor-Google/dp/B00OH4I2IC/

And an Orzly tempered glass screen protector on it. It feels like an indestructible phone now.

u/dunstbin · 1 pointr/nexus6

Yes, I tried them with the Spigen Slim Armor, which is ironically not that slim. It works on the DT-900/DT-910, though it's a bit more finicky than without it - you have to line it up perfectly and make sure the back is flush with the charger.

I imagine a slimmer case would have no issues, but anything thicker is likely to not work well, if at all.

>The question is, is it safe enough to just have the dbrand skin with screen protector that covers the entire screen?

Skins will only protect against scratches. Dropping a phone with just a skin will result in typical drop damage, which includes broken screens, protector or not as there is no buffer to take the force that a case gives.

If you want protection, get a case. If you want protection and show off a skin. There are a few cases out there that might interest you. Like the Ringke Fusion and the Spigen Liquid Crystal for example. There are some others out there too.

u/GET_OUT_OF_MY_HEAD · 1 pointr/Vive

People buy floor mats so they can turn the Chaperone off. If you're okay with a grid popping up in front of you when you get too close to the boundaries of your play space, then you don't need a mat.

As for padding the walls, people buy those after they've destroyed their first controller from punching a wall. If you are able to turn off that animalistic part of your brain that convinces you what you're experiencing is real, then you don't have to worry about padding your walls. But almost nobody is able to do that right away -- especially when they're new to VR -- so I'd recommend buying some skins for your controllers (and possibly headset too).

No, I don't think it does, and I actually like it that way. I use a glass screen protector, and this way I can see the Edge Notifications.

I do wish Pitaka would start making their MagCase soft-touch carbon-fiber aramid case for the Samsung phones. They are just amazingly thin and tough, and they have built-in strips for magnet mounts that don't interfere with the wireless charging.
