With coffee, herbal teas, mate, and postum, you're going to be used to a much stronger flavor. Tea can be very subtle. If you drink it right after a cup of coffee or spicy/ strongly flavored food, you won't taste it.
It can also be made pretty weak, if you're using single serving loose leaf packets in a 12oz mug, it'll be pretty weak. Those are meant for closer to 6oz. Try adding a lot more tea. Add 4 times what you normally do, and steep it for the same amount of time you normally do (unless it's usually bitter, then do less). You can make it really strong if you just add more. I like to do that with a good Irish breakfast tea.
Also, explore flavored teas! Earl Grey, genmaicha, Lapsang Souchong, mint, and jasmine teas are some really good teas.
This jasmine tea has a great jasmine flavor, it's made with real jasmine instead of sprayed with oil or flavoring. It's also super cheap for pretty high quality tea.
Harney & Sons makes a good Lapsang Souchong. It's really smoky and tastes like a campfire, if you like strong drinks, you'll probably like it. It's very polarizing, though, some people love it and some people hate it.
Taylor's has good Earl Grey, which is flavored with bergamot. It tastes like fruit loops. Fancy.
Rishi makes good mint tea. It's very forgiving, if you like mint, it'll cover up most flaws you'll find in tea. The flavors compliment each other very well.
Genmaicha is made with puffed brown rice. It tastes a little bit like popcorn, it's a little sweet because of the rice, and it can have a strong flavor.
Try other things with tea, too. An Arnold Palmer (half black tea, half lemonade) is great in the summer. A squeeze of lemon or lime juice in any tea totally changes the flavor.
Not sure about you, but I don't use a ton of shelf stable stuff anymore. I have a big row of mason jars up high full of probably rancid gluten free flours and sugars from my pre-keto days :p They look cool, though!
Besides the three you mentioned: maybe nuts? Is there anything you go through fast enough that it won't need to be in the fridge or in a smaller, airtight, opaque container? For oils or vinegar that you go through fast enough, you could get pretty glass bottles with pour spouts. Actually, some olive oils come in really pretty bottles already.
What about coffee? I buy small, soft k-cups that use less plastic, so we actually keep regular and decaf coffee in wide mouth mason jars by the keurig. (this brand; they also are sold at Costco: https://www.amazon.com/San-Francisco-Bay-Coffee-Compatible/dp/B007TGDXNO). Beans or ground coffee would be prettier than the cups, if you use that. If you aren't going through coffee pretty quickly, I don't recommend this, because gets stale.
There are more options if you're willing to do bigger jars than masons. Tea bags? I tried those in a wide mouth mason jar and they just don't fit very well. But a big wide canister with straight sides would hold tea bags pretty nicely if you either have enough of the same kind or don't mind digging through a jumble to find the flavor you're looking for.
Non-food things? Utensils? Measuring spoons? These would probably look best in the tall narrow jam jars (8 or 12oz) or the wide mouth pint or 1.5 pint jars. The straight sides look really nice.
Some friends of mine bought all Market Pantry (target store brand) canned goods. The label/branding is pretty simple, so it actually looked really clean and elegant when displayed on a bookshelf. If you use a lot of canned goods, this might be an option too and doesn't even require jars.
Yay! I'm so excited that you're getting your own place! That's such a good feeling!

Startup an excel spreadsheet and make a budget for yourself. I find that once I have a budget setup I pay even more attention to my money and figure out new ways to save. I have helped my roommate and my boyfriend setup a budget. :o)
The meat market can save you sooo much money and make you more conscious about the items you are buying and motivate you to cook more.
Crockpots are awesome and help you save time during the week. I know you work from home, but ready-made food throughout the week is awesome!
The Magic Bullet or Nutribullet are both great to have in the home for smoothies! Of course you can blend other items in the cups as well.
I have this Himalayan Salt Lamp and I love it. I also have this Himalayan Salt Candle Holder....actually everything I'm linking you is something that I own and love, something I have experience with, or a similar model (the crock pot was a random model) lol
Oh and this tea because it's delicious.
Ooooh the best kind of reply I could have hoped for!
Sweet to neutral (no sugar added :P), bold flavors (no herbal teas), fruity, nutty, floral, wood, not astringent, not bitter. The more unique the better. I'm not too picky on characteristics but do care about overall quality.
Well, I have more black teas than I know what to do with; I don't see it on their website now but last year about this time I ordered a 5g sampler of every black tea Golden Tips had. I still have a box full in the garage, great stuff. (PM me if you want to trade for some)
----------
Besides black (though always looking for unique ones):
I love a bold white tea, currently drinking a cold brew of Tao of Tea's Silver Needle. It reminds me of a green tea without the grassy flavor, which is my big hangup with green teas.
I have actually ordered a green tea from YS before (through Amazon). I do not care for it on its own, not much flavor beyond 'grass', but I do like to mix a pinch of it into my cold brews to take the edge off.
I would love to try a good Oolong too. I bought one Da Hong Pao Big Red Robe Wuyi Oolong Tea Rock Tea (500g) but had the same experience as the pu-erh cake (see next paragraph), it tasted rotten and fishy with no tea flavor. I might have thrown it away I'm not sure, will have to go check.
I have one 2001 Menghai ripe pu-erh cake that I bought online and I absolutely hated it, I think I've only made 2-3 cups with it (357g cake). Tastes like rotting fish guts, cheap mushrooms, and dirt. With all the hype around pu-erh I would like to try a good one but I'm hesitant after that last experience. If anyone wants that Menghai cake I will happily trade it for the cost of shipping.
I also have 16oz of Davidson's bulk English Breakfast that I haven't touched in probably a year. It was my first 'real' tea order but now I'm spoiled and can't stand the stuff. While better than tea bags there is something 'off' about it and it generally tastes like hay or barley and not so much like tea.
I also keep some nice Yogic Chai on hand but generally only pull it out for when I'm sick or it is raining outside.
Cafe (Ca Phe) Sua Da is a really common Vietnamese drink that incorporates condensed milk with coffee that often has chicory as an adjunct. Cafe Du Monde is the most common brand of coffee that I've seen but you really can use anything.Note that it has chicory as an adjunct but a good dark roast can do the trick. They're made using a phin which as you can see, is fairly straight forward metal filter that relies on gravity and a finer grind to extract. It's really easy to make and quite delicious though I treat it more as dessert than coffee.
If you live in an area with a decent sized Asian population, you should be able to find it fairly easily as it's crossed over into non-Vietnamese shops. A good bet would be a pho shop or failing that, a bubble tea shop. However, if you live in a place that has a large Vietnamese population (e.g LA or Houston) you may be to explore Vietnamese coffee beyond cafe sua da. Houston, for example, has Long Coffee which does a variety of Vietnamese style coffees, all which are delicious. At the same time, one of Houston's more famous coffee shops Blacksmith does their own version of cafe sua da as the owner is one of the biggest proponents of Houston's Vietnamese food scenes.
Quick tip : you can drink it straight up but it's served with a cup off ice so once it's finished brewing, mix the condensed milk in and pour it over the ice. The residual heat will melt the ice, dilute the drink and bring the sweetness down to something I find more palatable.

Getting started with matcha is so awesome! I've been drinking it in the morning with breakfast for almost a full year now, and knock on my fake-wood desk, I haven't gotten sick at all (except for that one sinus infection when I stopped drinking it for two weeks...whoops).
I think you are selling yourself short if taste isn't as important to you. I feel high quality matcha is better for you, but maybe I'm just overthinking things. I would give this one a shot since it claims to be ceremonial grade, it's 4oz, AND it's barely over $20. That sounds like a steal.
I have matcha every morning. Tea ceremony purists would probably faint over my routine, but it's pretty quick for me and it still tastes lovely.

My favorite by far is from Discover Teas, and $7.75 for 2 oz is pretty reasonable. Very nice strong bergamot flavor. They have a great Cream Earl Grey too, if you're in to that sort of thing. On the cheaper end of the spectrum is Davidson's, at around $15/lb. on Amazon, and it's pretty tasty too. I drink this at work a lot because I don't want to leave the good stuff sitting around where someone could take it or throw it out. I also hear Harney & Sons has a pretty good one although I haven't tried theirs.
It gets way better! Generally My stomach is pretty messed up from medication but when I eat right with whole 30 I have no problems. For your coffee try Nut Pods As far as being hungry and feeling drained the first few days try to make sure you are eating enough and for our first dinner we always do steak, sweet potato and veggies. So filling and satisfying. Bring sweet potato to work to help with the energy slump and these RxBars help with that too. Nuts are also good to snack on. Eating healthy while doing a 12 hour shift was never easy but you just have to make time. You'll feel better after the first week. Hang in there!
I've heard really good things about fenugreek, but don't know if you'd get too much of a boost from that. I have felt a boost with raspberry leaf tea but it can also dehydrate you a bit, so it can be a trade off.
Also, especially with number one, I could not pump much of anything without looking at pictures of her, listening to recordings of her garble noises, and/or very actively trying to imagine the feeling of her nursing. I just wouldn't get any milk. So, maybe try that sort of thing if you haven't?
If I were in your position, I would not supplement with formula. I would consider cutting my milk with cow's milk to make it last the last month until she can have straight up cow's milk. But when doing that one would need to be incredibly vigilant about her reaction, if there were any. Is she gassy/more fussy? Is she having trouble digesting it/yucky poop? Is she spitting up more? Etc.
Sorry that your time nursing is finishing up sooner then you'd like. Good luck.
I have a three year old T1 who pumps. Here is what we've learned:
As mentioned in other posts, always have a kit with you. Your kit should contain:
It is also a good idea to keep in your car, office, family, and friends houses an extra infusion kit (wipes, reservoir, infusion set). Train your family and friends on how to test your BG and also administer Glucagon and/or Insulin just in case you aren't coherent.
Happy pumping!
It doesn't sound dumb because it has been done already by huge companies here and here.
High quality coffee is usually ground right before it is used as coffee becomes stale quickly. Some people say after 15 mins after being ground it starts to degrade. I can personal say that I don't like grinding my coffee the night before I use it. So any form of distribution network for pre-ground coffee won't be high quality.
Also things like the flavoring is going to be what will be different about your product but that as well is a market that bigger players are already in. Coffee mate(owned by nestle) is every where in grocery stores and comes in 20+ flavours already and coming in both liquid and powder form. It also doubles as creamer. Which is a bonus as most people buying your product probably won't like the biter taste. Your examples of flavours pumpkin spice, French vanilla, they don't have a Amaretto flavour but they do have Hazelnut. You get the point it is going to be a uphill battle to compete on flavours.
Another thing quality coffee is not artificially flavoured but rather it has to do with the bean itself. Coffee doesn't taste like pumpkin spice normally.
The business idea had a good start you saw a need and you tried to fill it. Next time think about barrier to entry to the business and do some research on players already in the field.
As for your brother get him a french press and a blade grinder plus a kettle. If he can buy freshly roasted coffee it will be the easiest and best cup of coffee he has ever had. I used a coffee machine and pre-ground coffee in first year in my dorm and it was great.
Throat coat tea!!! https://www.amazon.com/Traditional-Medicinals-Organic-Throat-Seasonal/dp/B0009F3POO?th=1 Comes in regular or lemon - both are awesome. The lemon one covers up the faint licorice flavor that shows up in the plain one.

And the longer you let it steep, the more you notice a very subtle sweetness - I think from the licorice root... No carbs, super effective, and good either hot or iced.

Hope you feel better soon!!
I really love the fandom blends. Adagio is brilliant for thinking that concept up.
Also I forgot to mention that Amazon has Davidsons bulk tea if you want to get crazy. I've heard the quality is pretty good, and it's 15 dollars for a pound. Which is crazy. Totally worth it, I think, if you really love a particular tea type and just want a boat load of it. They also have probably any type you'd want. I have my eye on the Moroccan Mint and the Earl Grey.
In the same vein, Harney and Sons also has bulk tea, like for the Paris tea.
Yeah sure! It's a few ounces of milk, an emulsifier (it's called 'base', it makes the texture smooth and it basically has the texture of maple syrup), simple syrup, matcha (sbux matcha is literally half sugar just so you know), ice and whipped cream.
I haven't tried playing around with making something similar to a frappucino at home yet since I haven't gotten around to buying a blender, but I feel like you could probably do something along the lines of this, based on a grande amount...
Like I said I haven't done anything like this before, but if you try it let me know because I'd like to hear how it worked out!
If you want to buy a phin, buy this one. I post that link whenever this video gets posted because I've been so happy with that particular model; I have two and I've used them once or twice a day for over a year now with no complaints. It's my go-to daily cup and it's fantastic.
The smaller/cheaper models I've tried all had failings in one way or another, but if you're looking for a good phin, I recommend the one linked above.
To find your ideal brew in the phin, start with 15g of the same coarseness you'd use for a Chemex (#5 / "beaker" setting on my Bodum grinder) and fill to the top with just-off-the-boil water. Top off your cup with more hot water when finished to dilute to taste. My morning cup uses 18-20g, but most of my friends prefer it around 14-16g. If you're pouring over sweetened condensed milk (ca phe sua da) use a finer grind to get a slower brew and a sharper slightly over-extracted flavor to counter the potent sweetness. Also consider a can of Trung Nguyen coffee grinds: they have some coffee and butter flavors added but deliver the exact taste of pho-house coffee.
I'm a little older and haven't played sports competitively since I got my CGM but i have been using these https://www.amazon.com/TORBOT-GROUP-Skin-Tac-H-Adhesive-Barrier/dp/B000QF81M8 before inserting my cgm and I can consistently get 3 weeks out of mine. Although you may not get that it may help.
Also I know there are some third party sticky things that go over the dexcom as well that have designs. I can't think of the name but those could help as well.
I know all of this is a mute point when you get laid out on the ice or your pad hits it and just rips it out but I think some of these might help.
Ok, here's the totally non-essential, and stupidly expensive for what it is, but I won't go out even overnight without is my Nalgene coffee press or the GSI Nalgene coffee filter. The filter weighs nothing, it's the coffee and sugar that gets you. Now, if you are good with typical Maxwell House/Folger's coffee, and you drink it with cream and sugar, there is one good alternative. Maxim Korean Coffee Packets are amazingly good. I use 2 packets every morning and sometimes again in the evening. The 100 pack does me good for about a month. If you're reading my post, checking out the product, and saying "Really, um... no.", then you are in the same shoes I was in until I tried it. Has sugar and cream already in it.
I'll also second the battery pack. Those who claimed that pillows and camp shoes are non-essential, I beg to disagree! That's like saying Gold Bond powder is non-essential! I'll admit that I'm not UL, but tax, tag, and title, out of town I'm weighing in right around 30 with 2 liters of water and food. Since I weigh 250, it's light enough.
I'm really a tea beginner, so if someone with more experience and knowledge comes along feel free to ignore me, but I just found an affordable earl grey on amazon.com for $15/lb. It's called Davidson's and I personally find it wonderful. The bergamot is much stronger than in other Earl greys I've had, which I really love!
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000SATIBO?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_t1
It's similar to coffee in that it's brewed using hot water to extract flavor from plant material.
It tastes mostly quite different, however. Personally, I enjoy good coffee, but good coffee is much more expensive and time-consuming to make than good tea.
You can get tea quite cheaply, although high-end varieties command exorbitant prices. Here for example is what appears to be a decent Earl Grey (I haven't had it myself) for less than $1/ounce (keep in mind that an ounce is enough to make 14 cups of tea, assuming you use 2g per cup).
Tea is as easy to make as you want it to be. All varieties come from the tea plant, Camellia sinensis. Black tea is usually steeped once, as are flavored teas and herbal tisanes, so all you need to do is put the leaves in your pot or infuser, boil some water and pour it in.
Oolong and green teas can be more involved, since the high-quality ones can be steeped many times. Still, it's not all that much effort.
Mate and guayusa are rather different. They come from two different types of holly bushes - Ilex paraguariensis and Ilex guayusa respectively. They're even cheaper than tea, but you use a tablespoon or more per cup. They also have much higher levels of caffeine, generally speaking. Mate is traditionally prepared using a gourd, and drunk through a metal straw called a bombilla that has a strainer in it.
It's so smooth and nice tasting I think people also call it popcorn tea because sometimes the rice pops. Honestly I'm in love with it xD
this is is the box i have at home and this loose is good also
Ok sorry for the long post. Just throwing this out there as a few people ask about getting into matcha.
This is teavana's matcha. "Imperial grade" seems to be thier naming scheme to make it sound better. Generally there is culinary grade, which is lower grade and generally used in cooking, ice cream, cakes, lattes and etc. Then there is ceremonial grade which is higher grade and use in the tea ceremony. There are many grades of ceremonial itself depending on how its grown, type of tea plant, location, time of harvest, etc etc. Looking on their site at this is the 80g for $34.95. At that price I would have to expect this is not really that high quality. 80g is a shitload of matcha.
http://www.o-cha.com/matcha.htm This small explanation may answer a few questions for you. You can also buy tea from there and the owner is very knowledgeable.
http://yuuki-cha.com/ Is another site if you want quality tea from Japan.
If you want to stay in the US you can buy some on Amazon. I have had the DoMatcha ceremonial grade and it was pretty good. http://www.amazon.com/DoMatcha-Green-Organic-Matcha-1-0-Ounce/dp/B0019FOZC4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1374065899&sr=8-2&keywords=matcha.
for the OP I would recommend getting a wider bowl so you can whisk the tea better and get an actual froth. From the picture the cup used seems pretty narrow and curved at the bottom.
Here is a short video you can see it being prepared https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nY_XEn7aIrA
The times I have had matcha in Japan it was fairly thick and frothy. Some people may find it too bitter for their taste. You can thin it out a bit with more water if you find it so.
Also, I'd recommend picking up some of these (they have smaller ones than the 80 count, if you want to try them out)
They look a bit different, but they work just as well as the other k-cups. The coffee is damn good too, for those that like a strong coffee, that's not bitter. I've had Fog Chaser and French Roast, and my wife and I both like them very much.
Ooooh FUN! Thanks for the contest you two!

Akeleie demands
Yeah your calculations are correct, the only problem is I use 2 teaspoons per cup of tea instead of 1 teaspoon because it produces a stronger tea that stands up to milk. So it'll cost me significantly more. On top of that, if I need 1.5 times that for cold brew, It'll cost even more.
I'm using Arbor Teas Organic Earl Grey which is at about 30 dollars for 1 pound, but I can also try Davidson's Organic Earl Grey off Amazon for about 15 dollars a pound. https://www.amazon.com/Davidsons-Tea-Bulk-Earl-16-Ounce/dp/B000SATIBO?th=1
But yeah, I think if I advertise just the tea as organic, I would be able to sell more, or charge a higher price.
Is this the Earl Grey Creme you are talking about? https://www.teasource.com/products/earl-grey-creme-black-tea?variant=7636916338724
I can buy a sample and see if it goes well with milk :)
This one looks really yummy, but I just reeeealllly like loose leaf tea. Your jewelry is gorgeous. You're really talented. Kitten mittens!
If you enjoy Nestle instant, then you will definitely enjoy Starbucks instant coffee. They come out to about 50 cents a cup and for someone who is new to coffee, these are a good start. I usually keep a couple in my backpack when we run out of coffee at work. Hope this helps!
People use all sorts of tea to make pearl milk tea. I believe the canonical tea is cheap Ceylon, but a lot of places use even cheaper Assam instead. Some people add a second tea, like high-mountain oolong, to add complexity. In HK, they often add ripe pu'er. I've also seen many people recommend Golden Sail lychee black tea and Sunflower jasmine green tea, which are cheap Chinese supermarket brands.
Thai tea is usually Ceylon with condensed milk, food coloring, and often star anise (and sometimes clove, cardamom, vanilla). The leading brand is Number One. That's what your favorite restaurant probably uses. Black sugar PMT was made famous by the Tiger Sugar chain. I've tried it, and tbh I prefer the cleaner flavor of sucrose- or fructose-sweetened PMT.
I don't know how to make cheese foam, but here's my recipe for Taiwanese milk tea:
In 1 c of boiled water, steep 2 teabags of Ceylon for 15 min. Add 1/8 c each sugar and creamer. Chill completely. Shake before serving to improve the texture. Serve with pearls, either the instant ones or homemade ones with tapioca starch and black/red/brown sugar.
Here's how I'm able to keep mine on for about 2 weeks at a time (you read that right!):
Doing this has allowed me, as mentioned to keep a single site in for 2+ weeks, even through showers and daily exercise. I hope it made sense. :)
I am on my third round and drink my coffee black now...but, prior to W30, I poured a ton of vanilla CoffeeMate in there. While just typing that still makes me salivate, I am fine with black coffee now. It definitely got easier after a few days. You might also consider ordering nutpods. They're a great W30 approved creamer.
Check out Davidson's on Amazon. They do mostly come in bulk, but they are a solid choice for tea, as you'll find a consistent quality across their many many offerings (over 100+ I believe).
My personal favorite from them is the Pure Org Hibiscus Flowers. Makes a great cup of hibiscus tea without the typical fillers.
Gotta get yourself the real stuff I have a friend in Thailand who had sent me some of this (same exact bag) along with a bunch of curry and other stuff... It's pretty damn good. Steep at 200F for like ~5 minutes, then add milk to your desired milkiness and some ice (or just chill the tea first, a much better option). You may also want to add sugar, because the tea itself is pretty bitter. The dry tea leaves smell like heaven with vanilla all over it, but as you know, the tea doesn't quite taste like that lol
Davidson's Tea Bulk, English Breakfast, 16-Ounce Bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SARJF6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_mlRPAb15ETT5A
Ive heard that unflavored (Flavored teas tend to spoil booch) black tea has the optimal nutrients that feed the yeast and bacteria. Green tea is a second best for brewing. I may do that down the line. I have some gunpowder green tea. Im going to keep using black tea for several cycles of my continuous brew to keep it strong and robust.
Good question....this is something I battled with early on since acquiring the 'pod.
First off, I use Skin-Tac wipes (after the alcohol wipes) on the site every time. I found that worked VERY well with keeping the tape on...however I still had issues with the 'pod ripping off the tape due to the vigorous movement in tennis.
When the 'pod is on my arm, I use a dress sock with the bottom part cut off (from below the ankle, down). This leaves me with a tube of stretchy material. I slide that around the 'pod on my arm and it works perfectly!
When it's on my waist, I invested in a custom belly wrap from Bands4Life. Kind of expensive, but works great.
This One!
It’s the best espresso powder I’ve ever had. But it’s half the price at Smart ‘N Final. Not sure if a store like that is an option for where you’re located but just throwing that in there :) Lemme know if you try it and like it.
Basis opinion coming in. But matcha tea is pretty good for speeding up your metabolism. Also just a little matcha powder in your smoothie goes a long way and tastes so yummy. It’s also a fairly versatile powder. That is, if you’re a tea fan. 🙂
Good luck with your weight lost! Here’s Shia LaBeouf yelling and being aggressive. 😦
Found out about this stuff in korea. Instant coffee with the cream and sugar pre-added into the packets. Turns whatever the shit that comes from the DEFAC into something tolerable. Obviously not as good as fresh brewed but still pretty good. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GV9RZC/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=1944579842&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B003VCULUS&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=110VKJ4X9MJHDEWAQ1RJ
If you like that 3-in-1, try Maxim. It is MUCH better and the best I have ever tried in that style: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GV9RZC/ref=crt_ewc_title_huc_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AC40OSU6U7Q4G
Like all the Asian instants, they are a little weak. My wife and I use two of these + 2 vias for a 500ml shared cup of wake up.
I haven't made coffee since I found Medagalia Instant Espresso. It's expensive on Amazon, but I buy it locally for $3.50. It's honestly amazing stuff!
I've been sick for the past 8 days, and had a sore throat for the first 5 or so.

I've been 100% keto throughout the holidays, and didn't want a stupid cold to knock me out of ketosis. So I've been drinking hot toddys, and they are a game changer.

You can put just about anything you want in them. But I have a Holiday Spice tea. (Or, I've also combined a tea bag of Holiday Spice with a tea bag of Throat Coat, and I liked that combination even better). While the tea is steeping, I simmer some sugar substitute with fresh ginger, lemon juice, orange peel, peppermint extract, and a cinnamon stick. I strain the sugar to remove the solids, and combine it with the tea. Then add a nice shot of whiskey.

I've never had anything help with a sore throat so much! I've read that the alcohol actually kills bacteria in the back of your throat. Don't know if that's true, but I would take one sip of the toddy and my sore throat would be just gone for the next 5-10 minutes. I wish I had known about hot toddys before I started keto, because I would've used them back then too.

Hope you feel better real soon!
I'll try a different bean. For some reason the store I was at only carried one that wasn't ground. Maybe I should shop around more for the bean. That's what I don't know about. The bean would make THAT much difference? Also what are some of the best whole bean coffee brands?
As for the Vietnamese coffee. I don't know what else to say. I used a chicory coffee. Is that pretty common? I mixed it with condensed milk to make it sweet. It wasn't quite as good as I remembered when I had desert coffee at the Vietnamese restaurant I used to go to. This is the coffee I got
Some loose leaf tea because I love tea, and it helps me to relax!
Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
I really like these: https://www.amazon.com/nutpods-Unsweetened-Dairy-Free-Creamer-Variety/dp/B01F2PYV20
They are unsweetened, which I think is great :)
I'm debating whether I want to make a pot now... but I'm off work in about an hour. The dilemma ):
The tea with rice is called Genmaicha. I haven't been able to find my favorite one on Amazon, but this is pretty good.
If I could find this shit, cheaply, I would be drinking it all day. I've experimented with making my own cold teas, and things turn out WONDERFULLY, until I can't get the instant gratification and have to wait 24 hours for a new kettle of deliciousness to cool down enough.
I'm accustomed to savory drinks though; Coke Zero is starting to get too sweet for me and the salt gives me headaches. I can do straight coconut water, and STRONG green tea tastes delicious to me, but too bitter to other people. (More for me, haha!)
I don't have periods, but it sounds like you might want to try adding this to your diet, especially before and during your period :-D
I was pretty happy with my Domatcha that I got on amazon. There's a similar product by the same company but it's second flush , so it's cheaper (note the larger container size for a few bucks more) but supposedly just as good. I'm thinking of trying that one next.
The curent Medtronic CGM sensors, Enlite, are okay I guess. Way better than the Sof sensors that came before. I still 100% prefer Dexcom to the enlites IMO. The Dexcom takes less calibration, last longer, and seen less fussy with the transmitter placement/tape requirements. Some people really like them though, so YMMV.
Doing a lot of martial art I can't say. I like to put the sensors on my arms, but you could use your torso, thighs etc; where ever you think would be the best place where it wouldn't get hit/disturbed. If the adhesive isn't working for you, you could always try some skin tack, that stuff will keep things from falling off.
Go to your nearest Asian market and get you some Ito En Green Tea. It's completely unsweetened so it takes some time to get used to the earthy flavor, but it is real green tea from Japan. I have it in my house pretty regularly and have come to really like it.
I wish I was a wizard! I just started experimenting by always making a second batch and adding different things. Oh, I forgot to say with the tiramisu-type ones: add a dash of almond extract.
Some things I've found to be good in 'mallows:
Dehydrated berries, crushed into powder.
Peppermint extract (with or without adding cocoa powder)
Instant espresso
Vanilla bean paste - this has become my standby recipe, sometimes dusted with crushed candy canes.
*Matcha, though I'm still trying to get the balance right for that nice, creamy green tea flavor.
Your marshmallows look gorgeous, by the way!
You can brew coffee like this just fine, in fact you can buy it this way.
http://www.amazon.com/Maxwell-House-Singles-Original-19-Count/dp/B001M05070
However, coffee tends to be picky about it's extraction temperature and the amount of time the grinds spend exposed to water is pretty sensitive. Unlike Tea which tends to just get stronger as the steeping time increases, over extraction with coffee turns your delicious cup of joe into a bitter tincture of sadness.
Here's some reference on making good coffee
https://blackbearcoffee.com/resources/87
Genmaicha is the roasted rice green tea you often see in Japanese restaurants. It has a nice mellow flavour. The rice grains are roasted until dry, so I don't know how one would do that at home without burning them.
It is quite easy and cheap to buy retail, if you know what you're asking for. My local corner store sells this brand (I'm in Vancouver BC, where it's absurdly easy to find a wide variety of asian foods).
i have more of a simple question that probably doesn't warrant its own post.
(probably heretical in this sub) i love starbucks Awake black tea. it's almost-too-strong and it has a pretty harsh bite. they've discontinued it as of this week and replaced it with some teavana stuff that just doesn't do it for me.
any recs on strong loose leaf black teas? i keep davidsons on tap but i'd like a different, stronger option too.
I love it! I didn't know Costco sold it and I usually buy it at Mitsuwa Marketplace. You can get it on Amazon, too. =D
OK thats good to know, not sure if we have the condensed milk at the store or not.
Is this the same coffee? http://www.amazon.com/Trung-Nguyen-Vietnamese-coffee-can/dp/B000F17AKC/ref=pd_bxgy_gro_img_y
It looks little different, will I need coffee grinder for this?
This is the filter
http://www.amazon.com/Vietnamese-Traditional-Coffee-Filter-Gravity/dp/B008A0932S/ref=pd_bxgy_gro_text_z
It's funny because they have them linked all 3 together in suggested, I guess lot of people saw the video and bought all 3.
Also this is on my wiahlist because earl grey is my favorite and this is the cheapest for the quantity. Figured I'd share this info with a fellow earl grey drinker. :)
Get some really good shit.. I'm in love with the Starbucks VIA. >> ... <<<
A.) Can I buy it with Prime from Amazon?
B.) Does honey make it taste better?
C.) Because you sound experienced and I'm being lazy: could you give me a 30 second how-to on brewing it?
Much love.
EDIT: I'm looking at this It does look a tad expensive, how much would that jar last me? What am I getting myself into.
Girl YES I had some of that in my coffee this morning with some 0carb creamer from Publix. I think the brand is Nut Pods. Not a fan of the name... but it's delicious and so much better tasting than almond milk in my coffee.
This is the RRL tea I have been drinking. http://www.amazon.com/Traditional-Medicinals-Organic-Raspberry-16-Count/dp/B0009F3PP8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394634053&sr=8-1&keywords=red+raspberry+leaf+tea
I had 1 cup/day in the first trimester, 2 cups/day in the second, and now that I'm in my third I have 3 cups/day. Once I hit week 38 I'm going to drink as much as I can. FYI it doesn't taste amazing. I drink it with Lipton tea (I just put both bags in at the same time) or sweeten it with POM.
Good luck!
Try Nutpods in any flavor they have! Whole30 approved & makes coffee taste as amazing as it can w/o sugar. nutpods Variety 3-Pack, Unsweetened Dairy-Free Creamer, Whole30, Paleo, Keto, Non-GMO & Vegan, for Coffee, Tea & Cooking, made from almond and coconut
We can usually sell the vanilla, caramel and other syurps. But stuff like the white mocha, dark mocha and matcha are just for starbucks and we can't sell it.
Tevana would be the best place to get your match powder(the green powder) stuff. I know matcha (ground up tea leaves) is awesome for you. But remember we do mix ours with sugar so be care what you add to when you order it. http://www.amazon.com/Jade-Leaf-Japanese-Culinary-Blending/dp/B00PFDH0IC?ie=UTF8&keywords=green%20matcha&qid=1465268260&ref_=sr_1_4_a_it&sr=8-4
now that's just the powder. Its a good brand but you have to sweeten it to your liking....
omg that must've been torture. Is it this? Seems really good, I appreciate the recommendation, you probably just saved me lol
You can buy some coffee in bags but it's not that popular. Since most coffee makers pour water through the beans, you need more beans/ground coffee to get stronger coffee. I guess manufacturers found selling prepackaged coffee like tea isn't that lucrative if people want to pick how much coffee beans they want.
If you're really active or are going swimming, be sure to use a product called Skin-Tac. It's a skin glue, and your endo should have some samples for you. Secures the pod like a damn fortress.
http://www.amazon.com/Skin-Tac-H-Adhesive-Barrier-Wipes-50/dp/B000QF81M8
Interesting, because I have the exact opposite experience. Want to buy a book? Cheaper on Amazon than in the store. Want to buy some electronics? Cheaper on Amazon. Literally any item at a Staples can be found cheaper on Amazon.
And they have a ton of items that are just not easy to find physically. A while ago I bought some Vietnamese coffee. I'd have to travel 1.5 hrs each way just to check if the local Vietnamese import store has it.
I know this probably sounds crazy, but Starbucks Via is the best instant coffee I've tried. I can actually bare to drink it black.
http://www.amazon.com/Starbucks-Ready-Colombia-Coffee-count/dp/B00438XVGU#customerReviews
Maybe that could be your go-to rush coffee.
I just use the instant coffee. Really not a big difference to me in fresh brewed or instant. Especially when I'm out hiking, anything tastes amazing after a long day.
http://www.amazon.com/Medaglia-Instant-Espresso-Coffee-Ounce/dp/B002BTI9B0
I couldn't stomach taking another pill, I take like 11 pills every night. All supplements and by choice but I'm good on adding anymore lol. That's why I picked drinking the tea. I forgot to link you to the tea before, this is what I bought. Tea!
Yeah I think some fish have more mercury than others but I rather not chance it at all. Idk if it has to do where they swim, low or high, I guess if mercury sits low that makes sense.
If you're comparing the taste you made, to the one you found at the store. There are several things that can be in play. If you're using old coffee it can have a sour taste due to the oils within the beans going rancid. It could also be due to using cold water, which brings out a sour taste.
So in general I would go to a store that has high foot traffic, this lessens the chances of getting old coffee. You also might want to use "cafe Du Monde", the yellow can. Also check if your milk has expired. Good luck.
I've been buying Davidson's Organic Tea -- English Breakfast https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SARJF6/ and Gunpowder Green https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SATIFA/ -- from Amazon. Good prices, plus it's Certified Organic and Fair Trade Certified.
If someone wanted to make this at home it wouldn't be that difficult, based on using a powdered tea version. There's a booth beside the food court in my office and one near the local train station that sells it, but then I live in Bangkok.
This is one version of it on Amazon, which would be easy to mix with soft serve ice cream, or even the other box or tub type (I never used Amazon vendors for that, of course, so I'm not recommending any in particular): https://www.amazon.com/Number-One-Original-Thai-Iced/dp/B00712N6II
Try getting "traditional" vietnamese coffee. [Cafe du Monde] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000E5JIU/ref=sr_rp_1?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ie=UTF8&qid=1451103487&sr=sr-1&keywords=cafe+du+monde+coffee), or Trung Nguyen are the most popular. If it tastes weak, try adding more grounds or packing / screwing the filter down tighter. My phin can't be screwed in, so I just pack the grounds down pretty tight. It should take about 4 minutes to brew completely. Also, if you're using sweetened condensed milk, make sure you're adding the coffee to the milk, not the other way around.
I home roast and if I buy coffee it will NEVER be pre-ground. The only time I break both of these rules is when it comes to Cafe du Monde. I've tried adding chicory myself but I don't see the point when CDM already does such a good job.
Edit: as others have pointed out to me, CDM canned products are garbage. It is all I've tried other than my own attempts to blend coffee and chicory. Until I try the real thing, I'll keep drinking my canned crap. Thanks for the feedback!
I am pretty sure these are the green ones on the table
I really love Throat Coat when I'm fasting. Throat Coat has no caffeine and has such a nice aftertaste, it almost feels like cheating!
Yep. My favorite is San Francisco Bay French roast that I buy in bulk
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007TGDXNO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ikO1Ab9PFG3R3
This is the best trail coffee I have found in my opinion.
I love Nutpods - kept seeing a bunch of paleo influencers post about it and gave it a try. Nutpods
San Francisco Bay French Roast was one of the best K-Cups I've tried.
Is this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002BTI9B0/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/185-0789953-7073021
What you're referring to? It's the best cup of coffee I've ever had while backpacking
They're 35 cents each I hope that's ok: http://www.amazon.com/San-Francisco-Bay-Coffee-French/dp/B007TGDXNO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1413085386&sr=8-3&keywords=san+francisco+bay
https://www.amazon.com/Traditional-Medicinals-Organic-Throat-Coat/dp/B0009F3POO?th=1
I've been using this everytime I sing. Good with lemon and honey as well. Never tried ginger though.
I would recommend this Korean instant coffee:
http://www.amazon.com/Maxim-Original-Korean-Coffee-100pks/dp/B005GV9RZC
Like everyone else is suggesting, it doesn't compare to drip coffee; however, cream and sugar are included in the individual packets and you can control how much goes into each cup by pinching the cream/sugar end of the coffee packet as you pour it into your cup.
While it much cheaper to buy the tea leaves and make it yourself, the Joy Luck is good. If you want to brew it yourself, Number One is really number one.
I use this recipe
Matcha. I make myself a matcha latte first thing every morning and the combination of caffeine and theanine really makes a difference for me. 1tsp matcha (I use Jade Leaf) + 1tbls honey + 1 cup unsweetened milk of choice.
Exercise is also really helpful for treating depression, as is a solid sleep schedule. If you're having trouble sleeping I highly recommend Olly Sleep supplement (for nights when my brain just won't shut up I take Olly Goodbye Stress)
It often comes with a mix, to which condensed milk is added. I prefer this brand. You can find this in most Asian food markets as well. You'll have to run the tea through a cloth filter (tea sock), but I find that clean cut up pantyhose, or a large silk tea bag works just fine.
I use instant [coffee.] (http://www.amazon.com/Starbucks-Ready-Colombia-Coffee-count/dp/B00438XVGU/ref=pd_sim_gro_4) With a little Hersey chocolate syrup. Easy and not to bad
If you want instant coffee this isn't terrible, or even Starbucks Via. Every other instant coffee I've tried has tasted like stomach acid.
Typically a finely ground strong black Assam or Ceylon tea. I use this mix from amazon
American here! We were always able to find them in Maxwell House brand when I was still backpacking a lot. If you can't find them in stores, you could order them from Amazon.
Maxwell House Original Blend Ground Coffee, Medium Roast, 19 Single Serve Coffee Bags (Pack of 4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001M05070/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_M8GIzbH22SK0M
Last time I had a cough, I found two things that worked wonders for me. Thoat Coat tea, and letting a piece of chocolate melt on my tongue as I fell asleep at night. At some point your cough becomes sort of a spasm, rather than a productive necessity, and the chocolate kind of soothes it long enough for me to fall asleep. Feel better!
This one off Amazon is a good starter one. I've since started ordering from my local tea shop, so maybe check that out too!
So would something like this be what im looking for? Just something to add to a glass of water and ice for now, while still being healthy?
theres a bunch of them out there, i think most matcha is just ground leaves. my favorite right now is domatcha organic ceremonial.
This Korean instant coffee is actually pretty alright. I drink it some nights when I'm feeling extremely lazy.

1 - There's really no need to rinse. Swishing the cage and grains around in the milk of a new batch should be sufficient.
2 - If it works for you, there's nothing wrong with it. I like it to ferment 24 hours, that way I only have to take care of it once a day, and so I don't overproduce and waste milk. Simply reduce the amount of grains you're using for it to take longer.
3 - I'm also on a ketogenic diet. There's really no way of knowing the carbohydrate content of homemade kefir, so I calculate it the same as commercially-produced kefir, about 6g carbs per 1/2 cup (118 ml).
Once I see pockets of whey in the curd (before it becomes fully separated), I remove the grains and let it continue to ferment (secondary fermentation) another 24 hours. At that point it's usually separated, so I just stir it together and refrigerate it. I figure this way I'm reducing the carb content as much as possible. I also only drink 1/2 a cup of kefir a day (1/4 cup morning and night)... I make it in a 2 oz instant espresso jar.
There are alternatives to the plastic cups. We use to order these when we still used our Keurig, and I think they have a better taste than most others.

I really like this stuff:
https://www.amazon.com/Maxim-Original-Korean-Coffee-100pks/dp/B005GV9RZC/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1523158929&sr=8-2&keywords=korean+coffee
Yes, it comes in teabags like this. I use two bags and it lasts a while.
I've been drinking this matcha over the last couple of days:
https://www.amazon.com/Matcha-Green-Tea-Powder-Organic/dp/B00PFDH0IC/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
I add a tsp to a thermos of hot water and shake it up. Even though it's culinary grade, it mixes fine. Most people probably won't enjoy the grassy taste, but I don't mind it.
As far as how it makes me feel, it's not as stimulating as coffee and really not too calming. It's overall more mild than expected. The Rev Up (black, green, oolong tea mix) from Teavana provides more of what I'm looking for. This matcha was really cheap though, so maybe I'll try a different brand later.
Edit: nm this matcha is pretty damn good in the mornings.
If you like (completely unsweetened) iced green tea, try Ito En.
It's already in the "dry New Orleans coffee". Like this; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000E5JIU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8di1BbEZDSFDS
Sometimes, it is.

There are several companies that make Coffee Bags like these.
Amazon? I'd also bet on your local health food/specialty store, or maybe even some places that sell natural remedies and supplements and that sort of stuff. You may also find it in either the health food or tea section of your local grocery store.
Not that I recall. You dont need much.
By my math (see below), Ito En's Oi Ocha bottled green tea uses abt 1/2 teaspoon pure ascorbic acid per gallon.
You can get pure ascorbic acid crystals/powder at natural food stores, or: 1lb https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0013OUMVO/
8oz https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00028LX1U/
Ito En's Oi Ocha (ingredients: water, tea, ascorbic acid (vitamin c)) has 220% rda vit C per 8 oz, rda is 60mg, so 132 mg per 8oz, or about 1g per half gallon, which comes to about 1/2 teaspoon (which is 2.25g according to Now ascorbic acid label) of pure ascorbic acid per gallon (whew.)
https://www.amazon.com/Ito-En-unsweetened-Green-Ounce/dp/B0017T2MWW
From Serious Eats: http://www.seriouseats.com/2015/05/best-bottled-iced-tea.html
"Bottled iced tea needs some kind of acidic preservative, but it turns out different brands used different kinds. The Japanese teas all use ascorbic acid (vitamin C), while the Western ones opt for citric acid."

Care Du Monde is a shitty alternative. I'm not sure why people suggest it. For starters, it's a blend of arabica and robusta, when most of the street coffee here in Saigon is 100% robusta. Secondly, Viet coffee doesn't have chicory. Thirdly, Viet street coffee is roasted with butter and sugar and is the only coffee in the world, that I know of, that is roasted that way. The coffee I linked to is roasted that way plus they add cocoa. It's the stuff I use at home and is the closest I can get to the same caphe sua da that the lady on my street sells.
Finally, re: yogurt - Viet yogurt is made with condensed milk. I'm not sure what the equivalent to that would be. If you want to make a caphe sua da (condensed milk) you should hit an Asian market and try to find Vietnamese condensed milk because it tastes a lot different then western.

$12 is expensive! Have you considered buying direct? http://shop.cafedumonde.com/coffee.html
Amazon is a little cheaper too: http://www.amazon.com/Cafe-Du-Monde-Coffee-Chickory/dp/B0000E5JIU
This is the ideal coffee. You may not like it, but this is what peak coffee performance looks like.
They do make them, but the kinda suck. All the bad quality of stale pre-ground coffee and you can only fit a couple grams of beans inside the bag. That said, in a pinch they are quick and simple to use.

These single use pour over filters are a better option if you can get fresh coffee.

Amazon carries it. For example: https://www.amzn.com/B00712N6II/
depends on what you want to do with it really.
Matcha requires a lot more processing than say a loose leaf tea. it has to be grown, harvested, treated and ground a certain way, and those things add to the cost of the product.
Matcha is split between 'culinary grade' and 'ceremonial grade'. culinary grade is generally lesser quality because the standards for its growth and processing is more lax, the leaves aren't harvested immediately and not shaded as much. It tends to be a stronger, more bitter tea. It is also the cheapest, and ends up being the tea that people use for cooking and mixing into lattes etc.
ceremonial grade is a lot milder, sweeter and less bitter, and is substantially more expensive.
if price is a factor, and you're not gonna make straight matcha with just hot water, go for a good quality culinary grade. this one is pretty good for an introductory one, if you mix with some water and hot milk, and some sugar for a latte feel.
I haven't bought a good ceremonial tea (poor student) but i have tried it. if you got the cash, go for it.
I don't have all that much experience with matcha itself, because its so expensive on the whole. I'd defer to the opinions of the others here.
No, it's a different thing. Here it is: instant expresso powder
When I make my chocolate cake, I mix cocoa powder and instant expresso powder in a bowl and then add boiling water and mix. Then I let it cool and add buttermilk and vanilla extract and those are my wet ingredients (that I then mix with the butter, sugar, eggs, and dry ingredients).
I would try skin tac.
http://www.amazon.com/Skin-Tac-H-Adhesive-Barrier-Wipes-50/dp/B000QF81M8
I use a coffee based rub at my places for braised pork shoulder. However I use [instant espresso] (http://www.amazon.com/Medaglia-DOro-Instant-Espresso-Coffee/dp/B002BTI9B0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407518248&sr=8-1&keywords=instant+espresso). the rub is made up of the coffee, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, brown sugar, salt and pepper. Never tried it on short ribs, but its very tasty, the coffee is subtle though.
Maxwell House Coffee Singles

They are 50% and come out to .58 cents per coffee. Though they expire soon, but someone mentioned that they don't affect the taste at all.
Not the person you responded to, but I used Throat Coat tea.
SkinTac.
I NEED IT during the sumer months. There's probably other skin adhesives but SkinTac is what I use. I use the bottle, which lasts an eternity - http://www.amazon.com/Skin-tac-adh-oz-Skin-Tac-H/dp/B001LZUWP6/ref=pd_bxgy_hpc_img_z
But there are also wipes - http://www.amazon.com/Skin-Tac-H-Adhesive-Barrier-Wipes-50/dp/B000QF81M8
I'd suggest using Trung Nguyen coffee and Longevity Sweetened Condensed Milk for the closest to what you can get in Vietnam.
Seriously, the Trung Nguyen coffee has ruined me to anything else, it's got this naturally sweet, almost cocoa-like flavor that is amazing by itself.
New Orleans style coffee!
Skin Tac!

Some Thai tea mixes contain spices. At least this one does.
Try instant coffee. I picked up this brand at Market of Choice not too long ago, and it's actually really tasty. Just add water.
Throat Coat.

I love Rostov's and have bought much tea there.
Because I'm a bad person, I've switched to buying Davidson in bulk from Amazon. I drink a ton of tea, and it's just a zillion times cheaper. Like I said, bad person.
I put 2 spoonfuls of this is every chocolat KC shake I make:

What about just mixing in espresso powder? Flavor, caffeine, basically no extra calories?
Basically, yeah. I use this one (although that's an absurd price).
I don't see why you couldn't use instant coffee, although I'd bump it to 1.5tsp because it's a little weaker. I use 2tsp of espresso powder when I make this because I like getting a little more coffee flavor.
I'm not dairy free, but low sugar, and use this for a lot of cooking substitutes. Nutpods
My bad. I must have overwritten the copy paste.
