🎓 Reddit experts on replacement tpms sensors
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where replacement tpms sensors are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
The TPMS sensor is built into the valve stem inside the wheel. They're pretty inexpensive but replacing one requires dismounting the tire from the wheel. So if you need to have it replaced, the labor is equivalent to remounting a tire. Not something you can do yourself without a tire mounting machine. The system may just need to be relearned, which is something they can do in the parking lot in just a few minutes. You can do it yourself if you want, you just need a TPMS relearn tool, which is also pretty inexpensive.

PSA #2: Get a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). They are a little pricey, but they can pay for themselves by saving you from costly repairs (or worse) due to blow outs. The RV Geeks just did a video on them. We have the same model they use and love it. However, I recommend getting the "pass-through" type, not the "anti-theft" ones. We bought the anti-theft ones and the security housing can be removed by hand, making the "special tool" for removal useless.

FTR: No affiliations.
There's a pretty good kit that's a plug in play option. It just inserts into the 12v power plug and is a little LED display. The sensors just replace your valve stem caps. And are put on with a special tool so they can't be stolen.

Just a heads up, you can get sensors delivered from amazon.ca for $66 each. They need to be paired with your vehicle. This can be done by any dealership (generic system) or by someone who has the right kit. Amazon confirms they fit the 2015 RVR so you should be good to go.

edit: I'm pretty sure tires need to come off rims for this to happen.
2. The stock charger is based on a clipper creek charger. I've found that they are some of the more reliable chargers, but it's not like most brands have a high failure rate anyway.
3. Do you like balls or bars better? It's just a different look, don't over think it.
4. Use hold mode for the highway (after reaching cruising speed) to maximize overall mpg. You will see better gas mpg if you run it in hybrid mode, but it isn't really as efficient as running it constantly at a low load.
5. You can hear the engine, but there is also the power meter specifically for the engine. It turns on and off based on requested load and battery charge level.
6. I have this hitch and it works great. I've pulled close to 1000lbs once (kind of sketchy and only drove up to 35mph) but regularly pull a trailer with kayaks. Watch pulling out the clips for the rear bumper though. You also don't need to touch the fabric cover tabs (I made that mistake)
10. The wipers will come on, but there is a bit of a delay where the car is trying to figure out if it's really raining or if you're just cleaning the windshield.
12. They are part of the valve stem. I used this tool to get the sensors paired.
Replacement sensors for GM aren’t that expensive. Amazon sells the ACDelco 13598771 GM Original Equipment Tire Pressure Sensor TPMS Set of Four (4) for under $60. The trick is getting them installed, which requires un-mounting the tires.
GM vehicles require a special “EL-50448” tool that costs ~$60 at the parts counter of a GM dealer, to re-learn the TPMS sensors. Again, Amazon comes to the rescue with a Chinese knock-off: VXDAS EL-50448 Auto Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor TPMS Relearn Reset Activation Tool OEC-T5 for GM Series Vehicle. There are a number of other knock-offs. This was just the first one that came up. They’re all <$20 on Amazon.
Weird. The shops near you must not work on GM products very often. GM vehicles, 2011 and newer, all require use of a relearn tool to program new sensors. Relearn tools compatible with the “official” GM unit (and indistinguishable from it, save branding) sell on eBay and Amazon for less than $15. I bought this one to reprogram my sensors after the dealer forgot to relearn after rotating the tires. It was quicker, more convenient, and cheaper (in terms of the value of my time) than going back and making them fix it.
The “official” tool is available from http://www.gmtoolsandequipment.com or call 1-800-GM TOOLS (1-800-468-6657). I’m sure the dealer parts counter could get it also.
Yeah I have an 8 sensor one for my TV & TT, my TV has it already but I prefer to keep trans temp on the display, plus having everything monitored on the same system (and showing tire temp) gives me extra peace of mind.
A new sensor for my car (a 2011 Subaru Outback) costs a whopping $38 on Amazon, complete with free two days shipping for prime members.
Obviously you need to need to get it replaced and programmed. Mitchell Guide calls this a 0.6 hour job. The local dealer has a $114 an hour labor rate which means you are looking at about $70 in labor and $40 in parts, or $110 total for the repair. Not bad for an item that needs replaced once every few years. My 2011 is still on its original set of four.
I lift from the jack points labeled in the service manual using a floor jack from Harbor Freight, and place them on jack stands for my safety and to protect the car. I also have a TPMS tool to reset the monitoring system.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BK693N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use this one. Works perfect.
Yeah, I did get TPMS sensors, and cloned them to my existing stock wheels. That way I don't have to worry about re-syncing them to the car every time I swap wheels ... just make sure that I rotate the Winters and Summers in the same sequence. I used these --> https://www.amazon.com/Autel-MX-Sensor-Programmable-Pressure-Monitoring/dp/B074J3W853/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1542758112&sr=1-4&keywords=autel+tpms+sensor
Ford 8C2Z-1A203-A TPMS Transmitter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001H1O6HE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_8HWCCb3K1GVP2
None of the ones on amazon are verified but you can check the model numbers against the various ST forums and should be fine. Looks like they're cheaper than when I bought mine too. The low-cost tires shop I go to to get my tires fitted never gets it right and I got sick of going back to make them redo it so I just bought my own lol.
Funny to see that light on... thought it was a shot of the console in my 2009 P71
I picked up one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076KL82JP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm going to try and reset or reprogram this weekend...
Well it's not that bad. If you GM is the kind that requires the 'activation tool' this is the tool that will activate the sensors once you have the vehicle in 'learn mode' (see your owners manual, you might be able to get to this mode yourself)
https://www.amazon.com/VXDAS-EL-50448-Pressure-Monitor-Activation/dp/B072BK693N/
and if you get into it hardcore, one of these will do most of what any tire shop needs to do:
https://www.amazon.com/Autel-TS501-Activation-Diagnostic-Professional/dp/B01LRJ7UD2/
Not sure. You can save a few loonies by going aftermarket. These work with 2014 and later:
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07GZBQRBS/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_UypPCbFJTZZDX
TPMS on Nissan vehicles is DIY-friendly. All you have to do is follow the TPMS reset procedure with your wheels inflated to the magic values for your model.
The correct values for a 2007 Altima are as follows:
Tire position | Tire pressure kPa (kg/cm2, psi)
----|----
Front LH | 250 (2.5, 36)
Front RH | 230 (2.3, 33)
Rear RH | 210 (2.1, 30)
Rear LH | 190 (1.9, 27)
You will need four Schrader 28204 sensors. These are direct-fit replacements and do not require programming by the installer (they only require registration using the aforementioned TPMS reset procedure).
I had four new tires and Schrader sensors installed on my 2008 Sentra at Sam's Club earlier this year, and I was able to register the new sensors myself without any issues. Sam's charges $15/wheel for tire installation and includes lifetime balance, lifetime rotation, lifetime flat repair, and road hazard protection coverage at no additional cost. They're also running a good sale on a full set of Goodyear tires right now. Check out what they have available for your vehicle, and check Tire Rack for reviews of those models.
If you go this route, make sure to call ahead to your local store to confirm that they will use customer-provided sensors. They charge $5/wheel over the normal installation cost, and they will warn you that they are unable to program customer-provided parts, but keep in mind that programming (i.e. writing an ID number to the sensor itself) isn't required.
There is a device called a TPM relearn tool for doing that they aren't expensive ($15) here's one.
Autokcan TPMS Relearn Tool,OEC T5 Super EL-50448 for GM Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor TPMS Reset Tool https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QCXFF46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gdjqDb72VSSFM
Now that you mention it, I do seem to remember this. OP, it might be worth it to reach out to a service center and ask about this retrofit if you’re interested. There are a bunch of aftermarket tire pressure systems if they don’t offer a retrofit, including this one that uses Bluetooth to send the information to your phone.
Ok that makes more since. Rotating the same 4 sensors to another spot on the truck would not set off the light. But if you have a screen that shows tire pressure it won't be correct. But the truck will only register 4 sensors at one time. So swapping to summer/winter tires would need to be registered. Have you looked into something like this
http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-974-039-Pressure-Monitor-System/dp/B003CW4ZOK/

I found these 2 links that were recommended on other forums. Amazon states that these wouldn't be compatible with the 2015 model, though?
On the 2010, I'd expect you to have a Schrader valve-stem mounted unit, like this one:

When I bought winter wheels and tires, I got these from Amazon and installed them myself: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MUBU8QY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought the wheels from TireRack and the tires from Costco. Wheels were shipped to my house and then I had the tires mounted later...
I bought the tool to initialize the tire sensors when I bought a set of snow tires and rims the first winter I owned my 2017 Bolt EV. It's a very simple process and the tool itself was cheap through Amazon. Less than $10 US. I go through this twice a year when swapping tires and rims.

Yea, shouldn't be hard, I've been in tires for 11 years. Just find a good tire shop they should fix for you.

This, you need to rotate the tires or switch tpms.
On my car, after rotating tires you get a TPMS tool, go into the cars menu, push TPMS reset, and then the signal light on one corner of the car lights up, you touch the TPMS tool to the tire and the horn honks. You repeat for each tire (with the signal lighting on that corner). The tool causes the TPMS system to say "hey, it's me, this tire", and the car listens for that when it's in reset mode and programs the tire to that spot.
I would put them on any wheels used if the vehicle had the system.
I had just purchased a full set of 4 for the same price the shop was going to charge me for 1 sensor. Of course, labor must be paid to put the sensors in...

not sure what this was supposed to do, you need this tool to do the relearn procedure. I think I followed this procedure to get it into learn mode last time
