Awesome contest! Thank you!

Before I forget, spread the love!

Should Reddit Raffle proclaim me the winner, I would love to have this mp3.

For the second part of the contest, Random Wishlist sent me to /u/onthejourney's WL, where I thought this set of funky fun colorful magnetic letters looked pretty neat. I wish our fridge was magnetic so I could get these for my kids! They'd love them! (Sorry, I'm challenged and I don't think this link will take the item off the WL?)

I actually do not have an item on my WL that is $3.00 or less including shipping (other than mp3s), so if allowed, I would love an Amazon GC because I want to save up for this awesome tablet.

You can play almost all VNs without trouble if the computer is Windows-based. The problems that arise saliently tend to involve software incompatibility issues (i.e. older games not updated/tested to run on Win10 machines) and rarely if ever have to do with the hardware of the computer. As long as your laptop has Windows as its OS (it seems to be so based on the specifications list) you can be assured that it will run the gamut of VNs without much trouble (graphics are never really an issue as VNs don't make much use of them to begin with--tho beware of VNs equivalent to triple-A type games like Muv-Luv Alternative cause of the frequent and rapid character movements it utilizes).

That said, not to be discouraging but why not consider shelling out a couple more bucks for a slightly higher-end model from a better known manufacturer (even with the specs like its storage type and ram size the display should be a huge devaluing factor)? I can tell you this as I had a tablet PC handed down to me by my brother that playing a VN on a unit with a screen no bigger than 12'' is actually pretty darn distracting because of how minuscule the font size becomes when the entire screen is literally the size of a paperback book--and reading a VN, I believe, is nothing like reading a book as audio quality as well as adequate amount of space for admiring pretty art work are major factors for enjoying a good VN.

My 'humble' recommendation

Search around a bit more for a better deal because you'll find a lot of alternative higher-end models with more faithful form factors that have gone down in price and--just my two cents--prioritize screen size and storage type/size because processors and memories installed in budget laptops are categorically indistinguishable performance-wise (although M series are of a different variety compared to i3, i5, i7 series).

u/Supahmarioworld · 1 pointr/consolehomebrew

Ok I just had this discussion with my friend at work, if you want the best emulation and homebrew your best option is something android based. Check out the Android handhelds on Amazon, specially the gpd xd plus but any cheap android device will probably emulate and do homebrew better than any portable Sony or Nintendo console.

https://www.amazon.com/GPD-Foldable-Handheld-Touchscreen-Hexa-core/dp/B01N9IG6BL

There's loads of portable Android based consoles coming out of China on Amazon that you can find YouTube reviews for

N64 and Playstation emulation has been flawless on android for years and there's dozens of emulators for each of the older consoles with any kind of feature you'd ever want. I think most of the Android handhelds are cheaper than new 3ds xls. I've been out of the emulation game for a while, not sure if there's good ps2 emulation yet, but ds emulation on Android has been great for a while also.

They can have wifi and Bluetooth support for wireless controllers and of course since it's android, you can download whatever phone app on the play store and use it to watch movies, YouTube, torrent files, IRC chat rooms, better browsers and everything. Sky's the limit on an android device.

Loads of android games on the play store also

u/tomkatt · 1 pointr/learnprogramming

Really any device should do. If you don't already have an Android phone, you can get a low spec model for around $80 or sometimes less depending on your carrier.

If you don't want a phone, there are great 7" tablets in the $100 range.

Walmart's Hisense Sero 7 Pro. I own one of thise, bought it at $130, and it's cheaper now. Not a lot of storage, but it's a very good budget tablet, especially if you're interested in custom ROMS (I rooted it, then flashed it with Android 4.4.2, it comes with 4.2.1). YMMV, the main issue I had was with HDMI video out not working. If you don't care about that it'll be perfect.

Also, ASUS makes great cheap intel-based tablets. My wife owned the 10" memopad last year and it was fantastic but we didn't really have a use for it. These are in the $100 - $125 range for the 7" models.

This is all assuming you want a budget device. If your budget is larger, there are plenty of good devices in the range from $150 all the way to ~$400, particularly the Samsung and Google Nexus devices, and the Nvidia Shield tablet at the highest high end currently, with Tegra K1.

If your budget is zero, then emulating will be fine, it gets the job done, it's just slower.

Edit - come to think of it, also check out Amazon Warehouse Deals. My wife needed a new phone last year but didn't want to spend a lot. Ended up getting a LG Optimus V for like $35 new, just dented box, phone was fine. It was a decent phone for a while, and later she kept it for quite some time as a MP3 player and general device.

u/Michiganders · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

The newest Surface Pro's are finally pretty good for creative artists and drawing. I think it would be your best option. It will be pricey though.

To get a pretty decent spec model will run you $1300, and that's before buying the Pen and Keyboard, which are separate purchases ($100 and $160 respectively).

The screen will have great color accuracy, it has a pretty long battery life, and will almost certainly last you 4 years. The keyboard is also excellent.

Other options you can look into are a Wacom Tablet. But again, high end ones will run you $1500+.

For a cheaper alternative, maybe look into the new 2017 iPad Pro lineup. They are better than the Surface Pro in terms of artistic pen support, and rival the high end Wacom tablets. The new iOS that is coming out in September will make them much more similar to traditional laptops. The 10.5'' model starts at $650 and the 12.5'' starts at $800 (both are more powerful than the $1300 Surface Pro though). Again, you'll have to buy a pen and keyboard separately for $100 and $150 respectively. The keyboard also is not as good on the ipad as it is on the Surface Pro.

SwsMiss & The 3rd Graders here!

Gift One I'm dreaming big!!! :) I would love the [iPad](http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC769LL-Tablet-Black-Generation/dp/B0013FRNKG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3DEASBZ4NAXJV&coliid=I2FVZNBUC6BHD5 from my classroom wishlist). I'm passionate about technology and there are MANY things I can use it for in my classroom for both my students and myself. You can read about just a FEW of the ways I can use it with students here. I can use it to keep my running records, assess students, and a million other things that would make my life a LOT easier.

Gift Two
This book is called "I Have the Right to Be a Child" and I would love it for my classroom. I teach in a therapeutic environment and many of my students do not believe they have rights. :) "C'mon...gimme."

Thank you for the chance! Be blessed, friends!! Also, is your dad a baker? Cause you both have hot buns! ;)

u/shellwe · 1 pointr/AdviceAnimals

This one commented to have great keyboard and trackpad.

http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/laptops-portable-pcs/asus-zenbook-ux305-1264384/review

The weak graphics were referring to a not great video card, but very similar to what the 13 inch macbook pro has. On top of that you can use your wireless mouse or USB stick without an adapter you always have to carry with you.

The HP Spectre x360 is also a strong contender and has a touch screen and can be converted to a tablet, that's something very useful in school.

Lastly, and the most popular solution, the Surface Pro and maybe even the Surface Book if you can spend a little more.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071SF41Y9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T2_4hRuzb4F0VTZ1

Here you can get a really good surface pro with a really nice touch screen. You can get a decent removable keyboard for 70 or so. I would say the keyboard on the surface book is much nicer.

iPhones have the same MSRP across all retailers.

TVs generally have the same prices across all retailers (Example: LG's OLED65C8P at Amazon, LG, Best Buy.)

Laptops generally have the same prices across all retailers (Example: Microsoft's Surface 6 at Microsoft, Amazon, Best Buy)

You can't compare "bags of rice of the same size and brand" across grocery stores as each have their own strategies in getting you through the door. One store may decide to have a $5 off sale but other items wouldn't be on sale, and as most families do their grocery shopping in one place, stores take advantage of that. Stores will take losses on certain items and higher profits on others according to their research, the season, etc.

Electronics are a different retailing model as most people do research into pricing prior to purchase as they aren't likely to repeatedly buy the product.

Price fixing in any of these scenarios would mean these retailers got together and said "hey let's take a 50% profit margin on these products instead of the 10% profit margin that the recommended MSRP would allow us." And because no one else sold it, consumers would be forced to pay the heftier price.

You are saying retailers dropping their prices around the same time is price fixing, so what do you expect them to do? Best Buy lowers their price for Mario Party to $45, earning them a $2 profit per copy, but Amazon and Wal-mart have to stay at $60? They'd literally get no sales off Mario Party because everyone would buy from Best Buy.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/medicalschool

What is your price range?

The lowest range I would say you could safely go would be the Galaxy tab A which goes refurbished for $144 on amazon

The Asus Zenpad 8 for $129 would also get the job done.

Now, those will definitely get the job done on a budget. They won't be useful for serious gaming, but plenty good enough for anki and looking up stuff or doing qbanks and watching videos. A little patience and you can go with lenovo, which I'll discuss below with more mid-range tablets.

If you want to step up to the $250 range, you could go with the Ipad mini 2, which I hear still runs great, but I don't like that there is no expandable memory.

Now, as far as the latest and greatest, you have a couple of decent options. If you can wait for the Lenovo Tab 4 8 or 8 plus ($100-$250 depending on which version you get), which come out in July, I would wait for them (I don't think they'll have spyware on them, but whatever.)

Personally, I can't wait that long because I have to travel before they are released, so I went with the $300 Huawei MediaPad 3 which has great stats and the update to Nougat and EMUI 5.0 has improved the interface a ton. It has the best speakers on any tablet right now, 4GB ram, a 2k screen resolution, and expandable memory. The only downside for me is there is no USB-C, but that's really not a huge deal for my needs.

After that you start getting into high end tablets that are basically laptops like the Galaxy Tab 3 or iPad Pro.

So, I work for a rugged Tablet PC manufacturer and I love seeing all the interest that tablets are getting now.

Are you replacing a laptop with the Tablet, or are you looking for a Tablet to supplement another computer?

There are quite a few Windows 7 Tablets on the market now. Unfortunately for you, the majority of them are built more for specific business uses, so they probably have some features you don't necessarily need.

About Windows 8... I've been fiddling with the Developers preview for months and the Consumer preview for a few days. So far, I love it. It is a lot more pen and touch friendly than Windows 7 and XP tablet.
There will be a more Tablets coming out when Windows 8 comes out. Most of the tablets I'm going to list below will run Windows 8. BUT, most of them will probably not be able to carry the Windows 8 logo; maybe none of them. Microsoft has very strict guidelines about which features need to be included for a product to carry the Windows 8 logo. It looks like they are going to stick to a resolution requirement of 1366x768. Most of the Tablets below have a resolution of 1280x800. The reason I bring this up is so you can determine if you are OK with a Tablet that will support Windows 8, but not necessarily have Microsoft's official stamp of approval.

Now my laundry list of Windows 7 Tablet PCs:

Asus and Samsung have slates that are pretty full featured for the price. These could replace a laptop for classwork. Tablet Kiosk has a nice business-oriented slate.
Asus
Samsung
Tablet Kiosk

Then there are the convertibles. Basically, they are notebooks where you can swivel the screen around and turn it into a slate. IMHO, these are good if you need the keyboard and horespower of a notebook 90% of the time and a tablet functionality 10% of the time.
HP
Lenovo
Fujitsu

There are a few small form factor slates on the market now. They have similar features (~10" display, ~2 Lbs, long battery life). Personally, I wouldn't use one of these as my main PC, but they can run Office and Silverlight. You give up some horsepower to get the weight and the battery life.
Acer
Fujitsu
Dell
Motion Computing

Then there are the rugged Tablets. You will probably see more of these in use at a hospital, clinic, construction site, etc:
Data LTD
Getac
Motion Computing
Panasonic
Xplore

Sorry for no TL;DR. I hope this helps!!

u/lennox98 · 2 pointsr/gpdxd

The plus is definitely worth it, I'm not sure how more powerful it is than the original, but it has a slightly newer processor and better battery. If you get the plus I'd make sure to get the 2019 version that fixes a hinge issue the previous plus model had. It should handle emulation very well for psp, ps1 and all the older consoles. Game cube even has good performance on the gpd xd plus. I'd definitely go with the plus.

Here's one on Amazon for $235:
https://www.amazon.com/GPD-Foldable-Handheld-Touchscreen-Hexa-core/dp/B01N9IG6BL

Edit: you also might be able to find it cheaper on eBay if you look around.

u/SonOfSeath · 1 pointr/FFBraveExvius

Need the help/advice of people who currently play on galaxy devices!!

i loathe playing exvius on my computer. yeah, ill leave it on there overnight or whatever for TMR farming but for when I'm playing the game, like climbing Raid ranks, or yesterday trying the new trial, I like doing it from a coffeeshop down the road, etc. i use iOS and perfect chaining units like Tidus (and honestly sometimes orlandeau) is spotty but i heard that Samsung devices have a 15fps feature through Game Tuner...

so can anyone with this item tell me: does this Samsung Tab work for exvius and would it be a passable tablet for me to get to just use on occasion with Game Tuner for when I want to hit perfect chains from the coffeeshop?

u/reddeaddeligh · 6 pointsr/Surface

For your budget you cannot get any surface book or pro machine. Your only option is a surface 3. I had a look on amazon and currently the 128gb version is cheaper than the 64gb...so that's your only option
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-7G6-00001-Tablet-Silver/dp/B00VGIRP62/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1484760232&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=surface+3&psc=1

You wont get much gaming with that but it will fulfill your other needs.

Edit: Here is a better option:
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-10-8-Inch-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B01ATVJDYI/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1484760420&sr=1-2&keywords=surface+3

This allows you to buy the pen (doesn't come with the surface only comes with surface pro or book) and the keyboard while still being close to budget. This is still a great machine! Just does what most people need. I would be happy with it. Just not a gaming machine my friend. You really need to decide which comes first in that budget...note taking and touch screen and surface portability or gaming and stuff

u/xxkid123 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

You can grab the new surface for $800, but the keyboard comes separately for another $100. This is also the base model which only comes with 8gb ram and a 128gb SSD

SP6: Microsoft Surface Pro 6 (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB) - Newest Version https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HZPCWD8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ox.xCbDV5Z7S8

You might be interested in picking up the last gen model instead to fit better in your budget, if you can find a good price for it.

Alternatively there's also the hp pavilion line. Here's one that fits in your budget.

Dell Inspiron 13 5000 2-in-1 - 13.3" Touch Display - 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8550U - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Theoretical Gray (i5379-7909GRY-PUS) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075KNH1GP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_eB.xCbGPD3JAX

If you're not concerned as much by the 2-1 requirement something like the zenbook might be your best bang for the buck

u/Pilcrow182 · 0 pointsr/gaming

Shields? Zelda can be played on an nVidia Shield, does that count? :P

EDIT: FYI, those things are pretty expensive now (over $350, used, on Amazon). I got lucky and bought mine new when it was around $200. If someone is interested in something like it (a portable Android console with built-in gaming controller), though, the GPD XD should be comparable and is a better deal at $200 new... :)

u/false-shepherd · 3 pointsr/EngineeringStudents

It depends on what he wants it for. If he wants power+portability, I believe the the XPS 15 is a safer buy. It will run any software he could ever need in college (even games), while maintaining some portability (it's not bulky nor too big or heavy).

If his college has a lot of computer labs (to run heavier programs), and he wants to prioritize portability/features/design, the Matebook X is gonna be great, but it only ships later this summer (reviews are already praising the pre-release units).

From what I read, there are people who love 2 in 1's for college use, specially something like the Surface Pro, because of the absolute portability and the pen, so it replaces all your notebooks and printed material (don't forget to factor ir the price of the keyboard and the pen).

u/PearElite · 1 pointr/tablets

The Dell Venue 8 Pro is the cheapest you could go - can be found for around $100 or so.

But since your budget is much higher than that look for a Microsoft Surface 3 - such as this one which is $440 not including the type cover. You could go refurbished and use the saved money to buy the type cover though.

If you want a bit of extra GPU power you could try and find a Surface Pro 2, the intel HD 4400 is quite capable and can play much more than LoL. I'm not sure where you could find one new but there's a few refurbished ones on amazon and eBay.

I myself just purchased a refurbished Dell Venue 11 Pro with in intel core M 5y10and the keyboard cover for $180 off of eBay. It has yet to arrive so I can't give you my personal take on it but benchmarks show that the HD 5300 is quite capable. if you're interested in the Venue 11 Pro make sure you get a 7140 model.

u/TrexPontifex · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Thanks very much, great suggestions, seems like the Asus Zenbook is a popular choice. Quick follow-up, my friend just finished his own long trip, and said he used a Surface 3 (with keyboard) and that seems to be around $375 for Surface 3 and $70 for the keyboard. Didn't know if anyone had any thoughts about that.

You can get a keyboard for taking notes. I used a tablet last year for my textbooks computer sciences and math, was pretty good. However notes were annoying. I had emergency coding apps but honestly, I'd rather go to the computer lab and work on theirs or remote into my home computer and type stuff up. Android / iOS does not have a great amount of coding IDEs.

I used Anki for flashcards for languages. You can use Onenote / Evernote for notes but writing was easier. I did however use it to keep up with the slides and note the PDFs and my notebook to remind me to print little sections of code.

I ordered a ASUS ZENPAD Z170C-A1-BK 7" to replace my old 10 inch one as my sister took it. I would suggest aiming for 150-250$ range if you can afford it. I inherited an old 40$ NOBIS tablet and I wanted to throw it out a window. It's now living as a picture frame on my desk.

Honestly, a laptop is far better. But it's much heavier. I have a 17' laptop so fuck it I got a tablet. I would definitely look into hiding YouTube and Netflix. You can use Widgets to either time when you see app links or set Tasker context cues ie if on school Wifi. Or hide apps in a custom lancher so you have to type the app name into search. Or just use willpower.

u/The---Technician · 1 pointr/tablets

I would go for something like this Microsoft Surface Pro 4 which has a very good stylus and stylus support, decent battery life, good build quality and very important, it is a Windows based device which means, you can install any application you could install on a laptop or computer and it works, for example, Microsoft office- excel, word, powerpoint etc...You will also be able to open any of those files done on a computer..

Hi, I just discovered this sub and id love to help:

Dell 25 over
Great processor and good enough harddrive.

[HP at 254] (https://www.amazon.com/HP-11-AB011DX-11-6-Inch-Touchscreen-Convertible/dp/B01N0D8OG6/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1498603864&sr=8-5&keywords=2in1+laptop+tablet)
Cheaper but it isnt as powerful and has much less space.

Surface at 19 over
This is a great machine for note taking but you may need to get the pen after and a keyboard cover.
If you want some traditional laptops or more info on each just ask!

I would go with the 16gb Wifi only iPad 2 from Amazon. You save money on the tax and you get full warrantee from Apple still.

I've found that while it's tempting save money on used Apple stuff, they do kind of lose their sheen pretty quickly. While I know the iPad 1 is still totally functional, it's going on almost 2 years now. That's a long time in the tablet world. When the next couple iPads come out, that 1st gen is going to start looking like a relic.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

u/gerbs · 0 pointsr/ipad

^Better specs than iPad 2. Better video performance, expandable memory, better resolution screen, Adobe Flash.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/blackberry/8400612/Blackberry-confirms-PlayBook-specs-and-launch-date.html

Similar specs, but better camera performance (records in 1080p), and it's a 7" tablet (though, same screen resolution)

Then theres's EEE Slate, the core i5 12" monster tablet.

http://www.experience-it-all.com/?p=10555

The T-Mo G-slate has similar specs as the Xoom but 1080p video recording and 3d video recording (as well as 3d playback.

http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/dell-streak-7/4505-3126_7-34468625.html

Now, a 4g tablet with flash support as well.

I'll stop there because I'm starting to get bored of this. But do you see that Apple's specs aren't amazing. They're mediocre. It just doesn't make sense to release the iPad a month early, especially with the ipad still selling so well, unless you're trying to free up room towards the end of the year. I said it before I read the rumors, and it made sense before I read the rumors.

u/RedDuckss · 2 pointsr/gamedev

I don't know if you'll be able to find a tablet at under $400 that can run Photoshop greatly. I spent almost on the dot $400 for my laptop, and the first tablet on Amazon that has similar specs to it is $700 (link). The ones I found for under $400 on Amazon only had 2GB of ram (link), which is the absolute lowest that Photoshop can run on, but I can't promise it will be usable (since Adobe recommends 8GB, which is what the previously linked $700 tablet has).

Is there a reason why you can't have a laptop but you can have a tablet? My suggestion would honestly be to talk to your boss about allowing a laptop instead. I honestly can't think of any valid reason to allow a tablet and not a laptop.

u/AsianDrewy · 1 pointr/SchoolIdolFestival

If you're an amazon prime member, this actually looks to be quite a good deal if you only need a temporary substitute. If you scroll down and look at the "compare to similar items" section, you can check out other tablets in the same price range.

The thing to keep in mind is software version. Android is currently up to 7.0, and this tablet is running 5.0. If I recall, SIF doesn't support under 4.0 anymore. This is important because if you pick up a tablet running Android 4.0, it might not be able to run SIF after whenever the next SIF update is.

I read your other comment, and if you prefer iOS and aren't actually looking towards an android device, I'd honestly recommend just keeping your money in your pockets. It's honestly not worth picking up a low end device if that's not what you're specifically targeting.

Just my 2 cents, but ultimately your decision in the end. Best of luck~

u/MrSups · 3 pointsr/TwoBestFriendsPlay

This is what I got.

Again, I got it with money from graduation gifts, and It still cost me a pretty penny.

But if you're just trying to branch out? I had an older version of this.

There are better options than that, I would explore them. If you're in the market for a new laptop or something, the MicroSoft Surface works pretty well as a travel computer and can be used as drawing tablet.

I would recommend going with the Microsoft Surface (not an Android tablet). They are pretty cheap, especially a couple generations ago, and they are certainly worth the money and are very useful for classwork.

If you are dead-set on the Android framework, the Nexus 10 is fantastic (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ACVI202/sr=8-1/qid=1406428854/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1406428854&sr=8-1). The Lenovo Yoga is another premium laptop, even if an oddball design (http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Yoga-10-Inch-Tablet-59411051/dp/B00JAIEAHC/ref=psdc3_t1_B00F2ENU92_B00JAIEAHC). The Asus MeMoPad 10 is a cheap alternative, but not ideal; it is a good machine, though (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MeMO-ME102A-A1-GR-10-1-Tablet/dp/B00GCG4ZR0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1406428525&sr=1-1&keywords=ASUS+MeMO+Pad+10+ME102A-A1-), and there is an older generation for $100 cheaper (http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Yoga-Multimode-10-inch-Tablet/dp/B00F2ENU92/ref=br_lf_m_1001054421_1_1_ttl?ie=UTF8&s=pc&pf_rd_p=1767388822&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1001054421&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1W9FT7T6S4C7PQDWAQ8F), and there is an updated version also affordable (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MeMO-ME302C-A1-BL-10-1-Inch-Tablet/dp/B00DXFDHV8/ref=br_lf_m_1001054421_1_3_ttl?ie=UTF8&s=pc&pf_rd_p=1767388822&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1001054421&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1W9FT7T6S4C7PQDWAQ8F). If you are willing to do an 8.3" screen, the LG GPad can be used for work (http://www.amazon.com/LG-Tablet-Quad-core-Flash-Display/dp/B00HL3P9EG/ref=sr_1_7?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1406428036&sr=1-7&keywords=sony+xperia+z2+tablet).

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-ZENPAD-Z170C-A1-BK-16-Tablet/dp/B010FGJKWC/ref=dp_ob_title_ce (This is slightly weaker than the one listed above I believe, but it's $80 right now (it's on discount), I know that's also over your budget but not by much) Edit: This one is your best bet, the processor is clocked a biiiit slower, but it's running a newer version of Android

u/Xiazer · 1 pointr/Android

That is one of them. I've mentioned a few different tablets in successive replies. The DV8P boasts around 8 hours, This One says 10, I know no battery will match the "rated" life, but after reading reviews, they impress me nonetheless, especially considering they are x86 processors.

But I do agree, there are trade-offs for each type, and as such, "To each their own" comes into play. However, I think functionality and familiarity will be what puts windows ahead in the coming years (years not months, it'll be a slow crawl imo). I know after owning an iPhone, 2 android phones, Android Tablet (Asus TF101), many laptops, and a Macbook Pro, I'll be considering Windows heavily come time for my next tablet purchase.

u/Win_Sys · 2 pointsr/technology

There's very noticeable difference between an SSD and a regular or flash hard drive. SSD's are significantly faster but they're expensive compared to traditional storage. You can't get the full version of Office on Android so you will want to go Windows. Stay away from Windows 10 S, the S version only allows applications installed from their app store. RAM and memory in terms of specs are the same thing. If you're not doing anything besides browsing the internet, word etc... then 16GB of RAM/memory is overkill. 8GB will be more than enough. An Intel Core i3 or i5 processor will be the way to go on a tablet. Something like is a pretty solid machine for the price Link.

I would definitely suggest the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer - http://amzn.com/B004U78J1G

Amazon says it's Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) but once you get it, it should upgrade right to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.x)

This is not the new Transformer Prime (which is an even better tablet, but is about $600) -- for the heck of it, if you're interested it's here http://amzn.com/B0067PLM5E

u/samfreez · 2 pointsr/technology

The iPad Air 2 is still a popular option, although it's less useful now than it was when first introduced, of course (app compatibility etc, as most developers are moving to wards the newer OS capabilities and hardware).

The Air 2 is available used through Amazon here for quite cheap, even up to the 64gb variant, which was still available brand new up until very recently, so there are still some in stock. The price is nowhere near the price of a used one, of course. That's the problem with Apple, IMO. Their hardware is "premium" priced simply because they have the ability to do so and still sell like hotcakes.

As far as storage space goes, that really also depends on the user. If they have a large movie or music collection they want to keep handy, then the larger storage capacities are a major blessing, as there's no SD card to add additional space as needed.

u/mithikx · 2 pointsr/grandorder

Well the ad supported one is cheaper, but you can opt for the ad free one or pay to remove the ads whenever you want.

https://www.amazon.com/All-New-Amazon-Fire-HD-8-Tablet-With-Alexa/dp/B01J94SWWU/

See how there's an option "With Special Offers" and "Without Special Offers", it's basically lockscreen ads and the occasional ad in your notifications.

u/HardwareLust · 2 pointsr/Android

Unfortunately, not being an artist myself, I never paid much attention to drawing ability.

I do know this device: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Slate-EP121-1A010M-12-1-Inch-Tablet/dp/B004HKIIFI has an awesome Wacom digitizer screen with pen, but it is a bit pricey. That Motion LS800 looks like it might be an interesting option.

What kind of budget are we talking about here?

u/sniper344 · 1 pointr/androidtablets

I hope you would be interested in a 8inch. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-Inch Tablet would be perfect for you.

u/feature_creep · 1 pointr/retrobattlestations

I was using the Fujitsu 810 years ago, but it's outlived its usefulness. I've moved on to more recent windows/atom based tablets like these:

https://www.amazon.com/Pipo-X9-Windows10-Android4-4-Computer/dp/B015J45BL4/

and cheaper ones like
https://www.amazon.com/NuVision-Touchscreen-Quad-Core-Processor-Windows/dp/B01H3B17R8

I also typically set up at least 2 units with identical software for redundancy. Cheap hardware doesn't always last as long as expensive hardware, but I'd have to have redundancy on expensive hardware anyway. The Pipo unit really gets slammed around a few times a week, every week, for a few months now - so it's proven itself to be fairly rugged.

Poke around Amazon for a bit. We purchased an Amazon certified refurb unit.

Here's a decent deal:

https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-Tablet-10-8-Inch-Windows/dp/B00VGIRP62/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1481607349&sr=1-3&keywords=microsoft%2Bsurface%2Bpro%2B3&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&th=1

Amazon has some cheaper deals without prime shipping, but honestly I wouldn't risk it. I've had no problem with 3rd party sellers who use Amazon fulfillment; returns are painless, and the products are generally legit.

Bit of a heads up: The surface doesn't include the pen or the keyboard. Those are both add-on accessories.

The Dell Inspiron 2 in 1 i7359 fits your needs, but you could get a signature edition one for cheaper with a free tablet by getting it here.

Also keep in mind that that only comes with a stylus, not an active digitizer. If you want an active pen with pressure sensitivity, you'd need to go for a Surface Pro 4.

Or if you want to keep prices down, you could get a Surface 3 Bundle

u/cereuc · 1 pointr/tablets

if all ya wanna do is watch movies, the Asus ME302 is a movie watching machine

don't worry about built-in storage ... microSD is what ya want, anyhow ... pick up a few 32gb microSD for $15/ea er so, and pile on a couple dozen movies

the ME302 also has microHDMI ... pick up an adapter/cable, and ya can plug it into most any TV/monitor ya find

if ya wanna spend a little more for some newer hardware, there's the Asus TF701 and Sony Xperia Z2

if ya'd prefer windows, an Asus T100 would work well, as the keyboard/dock is basically a built-in stand (be sure to get the 64gb version though ... the os n such eats up about 20gb, off the bat) ... otherwise, in a 10in, the Surface Pro 1 is a good deal at $450 (this is basically a full Windows 8.1 pc, that happens to be packaged in a tablet)

if I were you, I'd got with the ME302 (toy) or the Surface Pro 1 (toy/work)

To sum it all up, If I wanted a 64GB version, and to be able to use internet outside of the house, and not insanely expensive, I would choose 64GB, Wifi + Verizon 3G, and buy it Used.

Not trying to sound rude, but I think your options are fairly limited for your budget at least in my opinion. But here's what I could find, if it helps when I searched for 'best gaming tablets 2019'. I only listed what I could find under $200 as I didn't want to come off rude and go above your budget.

The items listed below are not listed in terms of performance.

Amazon Fire HD 10 - New - Priced $99.99 (Prime Day Deal). (32GB Storage).

Amazon Fire HD 10 - Certified Refurbished - Priced $79.99. (32GB Storage).

Lenovo Tab 4 - New - Priced $119.00. (16GB Storage).

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 - New - Priced $119.99. (16GB Storage).

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 - New - Priced $197.99. (32GB Storage).

As others have said, if you can save a bit more you will have better options. Me personally I'm an iOS guy. You can get an iPad (Latest Model for $249 with 32GB Storage. Or if you were able to get your budget even higher you can get a latest model iPad for $329 on sale with 128GB Storage.

No rush! Just let me know.

I do know that I have certainly seen mislabled tablets on Amazon before. For instance, I bought a Nuvision tablet a while back and Amazon said it had 1333mhz Ram, when it definitely had 1600mhz. Alternatively, is it possible that you're mixing it up with The Zenpad 8 (e.g. not "S 8")? That's 1.3ghz with 2gb of RAM, so it threw me off at first. Everyone on Reddit said the skip that Zenpad 8 and consider the S8. But my big question is still whether the S8 can handle newish games, or emulation.

EDIT: There's a refurbished Zenpad S8 on sale for $134.99 now, with Prime shipping. That might seal the deal...

They are better now, and you would have something that you can repair. The Lenovo Yoga suggested above would be a bad choice. The MediaTek processor is just ... pretty meh. A Nexus 7 or a Asus Memo Pad would be a better choice, if you go the tablet way.

An alternative would be also a Asus VivoBook X200CA-SCL0301Q from Best Buy. The CPU isn't on par with the Celeron in a Chromebook, but it would be sufficient for Minecraft.

Your Kindle uses an ARM CPU. There is no generally available version of desktop Windows for ARM that includes the entire Windows stack for running GUI apps and services. There was an ARM version of Windows back when the original Surface came out but that was scrapped because it didn't sell well. It was never made available aftermarket and is locked to specific hardware. You can't install it on a Kindle due to platform locking and drivers.

Your best bet is to buy a Windows tablet. You can get a low end cheap one for ~ $75-$100 USD. Example: https://www.amazon.com/NuVision-Touchscreen-Quad-Core-Processor-Windows/dp/B01H3B17R8/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1491843642&sr=1-5&keywords=windows+tablet

Probably not the first gen as those are ancient and terrible.

The tab As are kinda low end and weak, with not a lot of ram or storage, but they're about what you can find for that price. I mean for a kid they're okay I guess but they might be a bit slow and stuff. Never used one but I do have experience with lower end tabs with similarish specs.

You might be better off with something like this:

I bought a tablet just for summoners war (Nvidia Shield K1) and it´s pretty much chargeing while playing so idk :)

Just get a Amazon Fire Tablet 7" for 29.99$ or the Amazon Fire Tablet HD 8" for 49.99$ .

They are on sale now.
A friend just bought the 7" (just for summoners war) and he is happy with it .

I'll post a few Android tablets and you be the judge of which one you'd like to investigate further:

1: ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101-A1 = $379.99

2: MOTOROLA XOOM = $419.99

3: Original Samsung Galaxy Tab = $314.95

4: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus = $399.99

5: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 = $479.99

Edit: As someone else mentioned, the Transformer Prime is almost out and it might be exactly what you're looking for. If you don't want to spend $500+ on the Transformer Prime though, I highly suggest looking at the slightly older Transformer TF101.

Aw, something like this only pops up the day after my girlfriend and I pick out and order tablets.

Would these do fine?

u/Snip-Snap · 6 pointsr/gadgets

Just buy a mobile device that's wifi only. It will work, just don't buy it through a cell carrier.

Here's a pretty decent wifi only 7" Samsung Galaxy 2 for $170

u/arahman81 · 1 pointr/Nexus7

Go for a MemoPad HD 7 if you want something good and cheap.

u/Lavatis · -2 pointsr/funny

Uhm, I'd like to see which one you're talking about. Here is an ASUS tablet with 32 GB of storage AND free online storage for a year. An iPad with 32 GB of storage costs $100 more AND doesn't have a quad core CPU, which the ASUS does. One more thing, the ASUS tablet also has a bigger screen. Now maybe you'll believe that Apple is bullshit overpriced brand name. If you want me to do the same comparison for a macbook pro, I will. It's the same, I assure you. I get people all the time trying to tell me that Apple isn't overpriced. Yeah, okay.

u/Histocorder · 3 pointsr/tablets

The fire HD is 139 right now.

I swore I saw the samsung galaxy tab 2 for 149, but it seems to have gone up 20 bucks recently

if you are really in a crunch for money and only want to browse the internet...you can go to belly of the tablet beast for a cool 76 bucks I know a guy who bought one for his kid..it browses the web...sort of...

Here's a thread about it from a few months ago.

u/lightinthedark · 1 pointr/AndroidQuestions

Sub $100 you're going to be looking at Chinese imports or really old tech.

If you can jump to $150, you're into new budget models. Asus MeMOPad 7 looks good.

u/jesusapproves · -13 pointsr/funny

You just haven't been looking.

These guys say the Galaxy has a better screen.

The iPad isn't bad it has just remained to high a price for too long. Every other device that has been on the market as long as the iPad has seen a decrease in price, the iPad has not moved much, if any.

Furthermore, the technology for handheld devices is progressing very rapidly, so the stuff that was great for the iPad 2 is starting to become quickly outdated.

Again, iPad isn't terrible - you could do much, much worse. But buying simply a brand and not the best product on the market is not my ideal situation.

u/willwar63 · 1 pointr/tablets

I second the Surface. 1k should buy the latest version, the Pro 6.

$700 on Amazon. for 128gb storage https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-Intel-Core-128GB/dp/B07HZPCWD8

$1092 for 256gb https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Surface-Pro-Intel-Core/dp/B07L3W4MWH/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_147_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=10C649R0YQNDDEFSKRP7

You could even get the 5 for less. It works well enough.

u/gassyjoe · 1 pointr/earnhoney

I have an Ematic 8" tablet that I picked up from Sears a few months ago for ~$30 after deals/discounts/points/etc. It runns pretty slowly but it doesn't crash very often.

Here it is at a very bad price: http://www.sears.com/ematic-8-8221-intel-quad-core-tablet-with-32gb/p-00352554000P?sellerId=SEARS&prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

I just picked up the 2016 NuVision 8" tablet from Amazon. I grabed a Used/Like new version for ~$50. It runs so much better, almost as smooth as my laptop. I think it's saving grace is that it has 2GB of RAM whereas the Ematic only has 1GB and EarnHoney/Flash are so memory intensive.

Here is the tablet I got at full price: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H3B17R8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/ricefarmer912 · 2 pointsr/PickAnAndroidForMe

With $200, there isn't too much wriggle room in the tablet space besides the Nexus 7 - even then, it seems ASUS is announcing its successor soon.

ASUS also just recently announced this MeMo Pad HD 7. It's $130 USD but it has not been released yet and it says it's planning to hit "developing markets."

If you're okay with the tablet being a bit older, you can consider

And also, I believe if you found a way to fix the back button issue (assuming it's hardware) you could make a great buck as adding that as an opinion for repairs. Man, it's unbelievably frustrating.

Edit: did some Google Fu and it seems like the Fire 8 HD is a better buy due to the increased RAM which gives it smoother performance. It's only $20 more for the 16 GB model. Link

u/ajaxanon · 1 pointr/tablets

I think you might find it cumbersome navigating note taking on a tablet and then porting over the notes to a macbook. Alternatives worth considering:

  • get a printer: this one is very reliable, able to print wirelessly, and the ink drums last a long time.
  • get a chromebook
  • get a small laptop 1, 2, 3

  • Get a Surface Pro 4 and do everything on it instead of your mac.
u/hellohammerhead · 7 pointsr/technology

Can you elaborate on how Honeycomb is like Windows, in a bad way? Is in the bar at the bottom?

Also, just to let you know, the Xoom ($479, 32 GB wifi), Transformer ($394, 16 GB wifi), Acer Iconia ($355) are all $100+ cheaper than the comparble iPad model. Whether or not any of these tablets are actually better than the iPad is up to the consumer to decide (I personally prefer my Transformer over my old iPad 1, but to each his own).

u/patstewart · 5 pointsr/tablets

http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-IdeaTab-Miix2-8-Inch-Tablet/dp/B00F2ENTYI

I've seen them cheaper around. Try ebay etc. Had a micro sd slot of the memory can be upgraded. I still recommended getting the slightly more expensive 64gig version though as with windows installed on the tablet you only really have 12gigs left in the 32gig model.

I'd personally would get in on this refurb nexus 7 deal for $130 over that, especially at that price. Only thing that memopad has going for it is the microSD storage. I'd take the extra gig of ram and development community of the nexus over that any day. If you insist on the memopad, Amazon has it for $125

The real dilemma is iPad vs. Android. While I'm a fan of the e-ink Kindles, the Kindle Fire is just a dumbed down Android that's locked into Amazon. For $50 more you can get a real Android, natively running ICS, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 which comes out next week.

GoPro w/ WiFi is about $140, plus the cost of whatever device you stream to.

A Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8-Inch Tablet is about $130, but it appears the one OP is using in the photos is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 and those start at $250.

So this facetious life hack would cost between $270 and up to $390 for what OP is showing. Plus the cost of beer.
