I have an ex with this type of OCD. And his was hand specific only, he has the worse hygiene I can imagine and our home was messy but he always had a thing about clean hands and clean bum. So yes we spent quite with toilet tissues and hand sanitizers. Not to mention issues with the toilet plumbing backing up and leaving me to clean up the mess.

There may be a solution to this for her cleaning her bum while you guys sort out the root cause of her OCD via therapy

  • Bidet Option 1 This is almost a staple in most households in the Philippines and an easy install from what I hear, really cleans your bum and saves you on tissue paper use. Plus its a great tool to wash down nearby bathroom stuff like the toilet bowl & seat, floor, etc. I've used this on my visit to the Philippines and Im seriously considering installing one just for the practicality of it.

  • Bidet option 2 Japanese style toilet seat Bidet I used the Japanese verion of these in Japan and some fancy restrooms here in the US, the water spray in at the bottom of the seat and targets your bum and front. Some even have air dry options. The brand Toto has one and is the most popular one and they can uhhh...really clean strong. My only issue with this is how to clean it since the water spout is directly under the toilet seat. But still just as effective.

Hope these helps her and your household, they are tools under 40$ you can buy.

I do hope you can get to the root of your wife's issues. if this just happened recently it could be a recent trauma or something she repressed for a while and bubbled up all of a sudden.

Also explain to your wife all these excessive toilet tissue use can seriously clog and mess up your plumbing unless she throws used tissue in the waste basket.
u/conquerhub · 1 pointr/AskUK

I highly recommend the [Boss Bidet](https://www.amazon.com/BIDET-Toilet-Attachment-Cleans-Warranty/product-reviews/B06WP78R7S/ref=cm_cr_getr_d_paging_btm_next_2?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews&pageNumber=2) Before purchasing this item, I did quite a bit of research and determined that the Boss Bidet Bold Toilet Attachment was the best among competing products. I like the pull/push knob to activate the bidet and to control pressure, the positive click of the nozzle choice dial and, of course, the sleek and pleasing design of the unit. Installation was a breeze -- I am a 74 year old woman and managed to install the bidet in about 20 minutes. The bidet functions exactly as described by the seller. I am very happy that I bought it and tell my friends and family about it.

u/qu33fwellington · 2 pointsr/TooAfraidToAsk

That’s great! Keep flushing those wipes at work but use this bad boy at home: Veken Non-Electric Bidet, Self... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2DWVMK?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

That’s the one I have and I love it. It has a super easy installation, I know nothing about plumbing but it showed me everything I needed to know. Only took about 20 minutes to install and then I had to wait another 5-10 to wait for the water line to turn back on and go into the bidet. Try it out!

u/strikkeislandhast · 65 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

YES. SO TRUE! My boyfriend and I kept telling ourselves stuff like "they can't be that good, we don't need one, blah blah."

We finally bought one because he saw a sale and we LOVE IT. We also got a squatty potty stool and it is great. The experience of pooping has been transformed. You can get both for like $60 or $70 bucks total on amazon.

Our bidet is this one and I got this squatty potty.

OP, seriously. Bidet. Squatty potty. You won't regret it. Except maybe you will then regret that not every toilet in your life is as richly equipped as the one at home. Pooping elsewhere sucks ):

u/FirstPlayer · 3 pointsr/DoesAnybodyElse

I pretty much went to the Amazon top-rated ones in the category; I got this one first and it's great, then when we built another bathroom next to my bedroom I bought one of these because I was curious about the warm water (it's nice, but it was a bit more difficult to install and takes time to warm up anyway). Both of them were a lot cheaper when I bought them 3-4 years ago; it looks like the top-rated one right now is this; I can't personally speak about it but the ratings are good. :)

Also I forgot to mention in my first post: toilet paper lasts basically forever. Using four to six squares just to dry off it takes me over three months to use a single roll.

u/MrsMcPineapple · 14 pointsr/ZeroWaste

I got this one. Installation was very straightforward and all the parts you need are included (although a few of the connections were a little finicky and needed some attention before they would work without leaking). Inexpensive and super useful! Ordering from amazon may not be ideal, but sometimes I think the benefits outweigh the cost over time. This can be used both as an actual bidet and it can also be used to clean cloth diapers. I'm really happy with it so far.

u/kharlos · 1 pointr/clothdiaps

This is one I bought over a year ago. There are better ones now, I believe.
Here is the cheapest one I can find.

Honestly, the best thing about these is that they also make great bidets...

u/truevox · 3 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

Well, what's your definition of "a lot"? I purchased this heated one about a year ago, and it's less than $80. Let me tell you, it's worth every penny. I've cut my TP usage in half since I got it (so, yes, I do dry with paper product).

Think of it this way: If you wish in one hand, and shit in the other, you wouldn't wipe the shit off your hand with a paper towel, right? You'd wash it.

Only caveat is you have to let it run in "nozzle wash" mode for for a few seconds to flush the cold water outta the system (I live in New England - YMMV depending on coordinates.)

u/mikemann55 · 1 pointr/Constipation

You really don’t need to endure this agony, the solution is very simple.

Use a shattaf (water bidet) like this

You use low to medium water pressure (never high) and with warm water, hold the nozzle to your anus opening and gently allow water to enter your rectum.

This will do two things:

  1. Lubricate, moisten and relax the area
  2. break up and hydrate the dry stool making it softer, smoother.

The slow buildup of water in the rectum will also give you an urge to defecate and will help to smoothly push the stool out.

Once you try this, I guarantee you will use it when needed, and never suffer the agony of constipation.
u/NewShinyCD · 64 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

Alright I'm an American and I have a bidet that you can add on to a toilet. I will say this, using a bidet is awesome not only does it cut down on toilet paper usage, but you feel more clean down there. There are many types of add-on bidet ranging from a simple water pressure operated one to electric ones that have heated seats and a deodorizer.
If anyone is wondering this is the bidet I own: Joy Bidet HC-3
Later on when I get a house I plan on buying one of the fancy Coco bidets which start at $300 (since with my current apartment setup unless I drill through a wall I don't have access to an outlet or the hot water source under the sink).

>Where does the water come from? What opening?

You connect the bidet using a T connecter to the same tube that fills the back of the toilet.

>Where does it hit on your body? Like, directly on the anus? The taint? All over the place down there?

The bidet I have is a water pressure operated one so I have to shift to get the water to hit different areas. The electric bidets (like a CoCo bidet) have a spout that you can adjust without shifting around. But basically anywhere in the crack area.

>What sort of stream of water is it? Jet, stream, mist, etc?

Sorta a jet/stream mix. I can adjust the water pressure so it can range from a stream to a jet.

>Can you adjust the aim of the water?

With the fancier bidets, yes. Otherwise you have to shift around (not that much though)

>How hard does the water hit your body?

Depends. Most bidets you can adjust the pressure.

>Can you adjust the water pressure?

See above.

>Is it possible for water to go inside your anus? If so, wouldn't you worry about leaking anal fluid?

If you turn the pressure up to high, yes. If water does get up there, it is no different from an enema so it will come out while you are on the toilet.

>Do women use the bidet to pee?

If you get an add-on bidet then yes.

>Do you use toilet paper at all when using a bidet? If yes, how do you dry off the water? If no, then why use a bidet to start with?

Yes. Just pat it off. I actually use less tissue now than what I used before I bought one.

>Do you flush twice? Once to get rid of the bodily waste and secondly to get rid of poo water? Is there some other mechanism?

Once. With the add-on bidet the water falls into the bowl.

>What temperature is the water?

Adjustable. Since I don't have my bidet connected to a hot water source (you have to run an additional hose to the hot water under the sink) I just use cold water.

>Do you poop in the toilet, flush, then shift over to the bidet to clean yourself?

Surf internet on iphone, poop, turn on bidet until I feel clean then turn off, use TP to pat dry, flush.

u/amskeez · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

So the ultimate splurge would be the toto neorest with elongated bowl. Alas, that’s too bougie for my budget I settle for the bidet attachment from amazon. This this super economical one is a greater starter bidet. The tushy brand is a little nicer option as well.

u/otchris · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I’m a fan of this hand held model: https://www.amazon.com/Brondell-CleanSpa-Advanced-Attachment-Precision/dp/B077PMM9NC

It’s easy to install, solidly built, and doesn’t interfere with the seat or bowl making regular cleaning a bit easier.

Even better, the design seems very accommodating towards repair/replacement of washers to keep it leak free for as long as you want it.

u/otherchristine · 17 pointsr/BabyBumps

I know this wasn't the point of your story, but not many people know that you can attach a bidet to nearly any toilet! I have one similar to this and it's pretty amazing. Even before I was pregnant.

u/hotdogvomitgrenade · 1 pointr/funny

You can save money and save the environment if you get a bidet.

https://www.amazon.com/Oak-Leaf-Attachment-Non-electric-Mechanical/dp/B01HXDJQC4

You're welcome.

u/MesserStrong · 2 pointsr/unpopularopinion

I mean, hair dryers are pretty inexpensive. You wouldn't need a high powered one, (I'm sure that there's a "TIFU by blistering my anus with a blow dryer", so you want to make sure that it has a low or cool setting.)

It would depend on where your outlets are in the bathroom, though! I'm thinking that someone with a bidet wouldn't want an extension cord running across the bathroom. So most of your money would be spent on the wiring and electricity!

You could get the dryer for $25. https://www.amazon.com/Andis-1600-Watt-Mounted-HangUp-30135/dp/B001UE7D3C/ref=sr_1_7?crid=H9JBOT4TF4AY&keywords=hair+dryer+with+holder+wall+mount&qid=1570784518&sprefix=HAIR+DRYER+WITH+HOLD%2Caps%2C725&sr=8-7

The bidet would also be $25

https://www.amazon.com/SlimEdge-Attachment-Electric-Install-Internal/dp/B07CGVBZGL/ref=sr_1_9?crid=154KKOVJ7Z31Q&keywords=bidet&qid=1570784630&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sprefix=BIDE%2Caps%2C711&sr=8-9

So, if you know someone whose handy with electricity, you could have your setup for $50, a pizza and a 12 pack!

PS, insomnia will make you look up weird things on Reddit!

u/Wamobamo · 4 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Buy a bidet attachment for your toilet. No wipes to buy or clog your pipes, and you stay nice and clean. Best $40 ever.

Edit: [This] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FPYIK6M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1TRHzb04T8P8Y) is worth getting too to replace the plastic tee that comes with the bidet and give you better flow control.

u/False_explanation · 6 pointsr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Bidet owner since late October of last year. It's probably the best thing I own in my house next to my air conditioner and my ice cube trays. Seriously. It's better than the internet and the internet has porn.

If you're even remotely curious about the cleaning quality, get the one I got on Amazon for $70. It's cheap enough to not hurt you financially if you don't like it, but it's a good enough quality for it to last you many, many years.

u/Cheesetoast9 · 3 pointsr/funny

Y'all need a bidet add on for your toilet. I have this one, works great, gets you much cleaner, no need to spread poop all over your crack, just pretty much use a small amount of to to wipe away the water. This one has a front spray for the ladies too, also hooks up to warm water.

There are others I found for cheaper but they seem to only have cold or single nozzle. I really like yours but thanks I'll keep an eye out.

This model mounts underneath your existing toilet seat and provides the cleansing waters. Gets a little chilly in winter time though...

It also tilts the seat forward a little bit if you don’t get the little standoffs to make the pads on the front of the seat a little higher. Those are on Amazon for like $5.

u/bogusface9000 · 6 pointsr/kitchener

I've got this one: https://www.amazon.com/Squatty-Potty-Refresh-Toilet-Attachment/dp/B00SLLK6RM?ref_=ast_sto_dp It works well and was easy to install. It's made by the same people who make the Squatty Potty, which I also recommend.

u/jorshrod · 4 pointsr/predaddit

So, we looked at all those cloth diaper sprayers and ended up buying an inexpensive bidet attachment that does the same thing but isn't branded as a baby accessory and is way cheaper.

The can is a great idea to catch the splash though. We cloth diapered 2.2 kids. Gave up on the third one after 3 months and just got disposables, too much laundry.

u/dietzombiecake · 12 pointsr/ZeroWaste

I ordered steel straws and a bamboo travel cutlery set https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BFPKFM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and luckily it came in a mylar envelope instead of a huge box with packaging.

I also bought a bidet https://www.amazon.com/Squatty-Potty-Refresh-Toilet-Attachment/dp/B00SLLK6RM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1497282018&sr=8-2&keywords=refresh+it+bidet at a discount store for $20. I haven't used toliet paper at my house since I got it! My husband won't use it though...

  • an adjustable height desk; the ability to stand to work when I want to has been wonderful.
  • a really nice office chair; after injuring my back, it has helped me sit for long stretches and still be able to stand up from quickly, unlike just about any other chair.
  • a bidet attachment for my toilet; using standard toilets now is such a disappointment.

I bought this wonderful bidet for under $30 on Amazon. We've had it a year. It's great.

Try a bidet. I bought one of these (not an affiliate link) around the same time I started Keto and it's been great. One wipe and that's just to dry off.

My poop thing is that keto slowed me right down. From once a day, maybe twice, to about every other day and the occasional need for a fibre supplement.

If you buy a shattaf - many available such as:

Aizhy Hand Held Bidet Sprayer Stainless Steel Sprayer Shattaf Toilet Bidet Shower Head with 49-inch Hose and Bracket Holder https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BLS2HMD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9.pwDbKV7AEGY

And with GENTLE water pressure place nozzle on your anus and let water constantly go up your rectum-don’t force it ofcourse. Set the water temperature to warm or slightly hotter as this helps with the stool softening.

What this will do is soften and break up the hardened stool and let it pass until the whole piece breaks up and expels.

u/AspieGram · 1 pointr/bidets

We just installed a Luxe Neo 185 and it was simple and straightforward. We also went with an in-line shut off valve as we have really high water pressure and don't want to be ejected off the seat when we use the bidet. You may want to get some seat bumpers as well as the bidet attachment can't raise the back of your seat making it sit crooked.

Those extras are just the ones that we went with, there are others, so pick the ones that you like best...if you even need them at all.

Water, squatty potty, bidet, witch hazel! I really cannot recommend the bidet and witch hazel enough for the hemerhoids, seriously it got me past some rough ones. The less you have to wipe them, the less inflamed and irritated, they usually go away quicker. You can get inexpensive bidets on Amazon. Sounds like she can also stand to take more stool softeners, per her OB. Good luck!! 💙

u/Mathead314 · 1 pointr/todayilearned

I have two of the models that I linked - buy the extra valve to save yourself a trip to Lowes or HomeDepot (this gives you the ability to fine-tune the pressure from the bidet).

u/OstrichCake · 2 pointsr/ContagiousLaughter

You can even get ones that attach to your toilet directly! So even if you don’t have space, you can still have that bidet clean feel.

Worst part about buying a bidet is that pooping at work (or anywhere else for that matter) is so much worse. I love mine and I don't think I'd ever go without one again.
I bought this for $34 on Amazon Warehouse. I think I'd be fine with an ambient one though.

Edit:Can't spell and added link.

I bought this one.

You will want to ask for the brass T-connector since the plastic one they sent with this broke. I had to go to a plumbing supply place to get a brass one to fit. It was only a few bucks though. If you can't, just be careful when tightening.

Is this a "T" shut off? The brass on top going to a sink and the bottom unoccupied position is where the washer hooks up? That would make sense aside from need for "standard garden hose fitting" as questfor17 addressed. Just have never seen a shut off valve "T" - https://www.amazon.com/T-adapter-Shut-off-Connector-Chrome-Bidet4me/dp/B0199ARCAW

u/map2510 · 36 pointsr/ZeroWaste

This is the one I have. I got them on clearance at target so they were a lot cheaper, but if I ever needed to buy more I would buy this one again. It has a nozzle adjuster so you can position where the stream is and I have never had an issue with water spraying anywhere. My mom bought two different cheaper ones from amazon and they did not have the adjuster and they spray water all over the seat.

Do yourself a favor and don't get the attachment that goes under the seat, get the one that built into the seat. The under seat attachments never fit properly and you'll either have to Macgyver something to get the seat and lid to lay flat, or deal with it stuck open about an inch.

I bought this valve because I knew the plastic one would be a turd. Just don't over tighten, don't cross thread, and do use teflon tape on all fittings.

I have one of these and was also worried about the cold water as well. It's way less of a problem than I thought it would be, barely noticeable at all, at least in my case anyhow. Definitely not unpleasant. I use toilet paper after to dry, much less than I used use.

For a starter bidet, I'd go with: SlimEdge on Amazon for $35

If you are a CostCo member, go with this one: Elite 3 for $40

Beyond that you are looking at expensive ones that require electric outlets near the toilet. This one is on sale right now at CostCo for $220.

The one I have has a valve you can set at the base to control the maximum water pressure. It looks like this but it came included with the bidet.

The model I purchased comes with everything needed except a crescent wrench. A quick video tutorial might be all you need.

You don't need to be a homeowner. This can be done with minimal effort and not installing anything permanent

This is one I got; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H2DWVMK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one didn't come w/ the tools to assemble so you need some basic tools (screwdriver and a basic wrench); but other models come w/ the tools for the installation

We got this one. It’s an assertive spray

$29.99 on Amazon.. I have one. I installed it by myself and I am not at all handy. I will never be bidet-less again.

Here's a better version mate:

You can also get the hoses.

I personally started using a bidet after my trip to Japan. Now only using paper feels disgusting.

Or you could just spend $90 on a bidet and actually get a clean ass. I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0018O9JDG

If it's that big of a problem then consider a bidet

u/jaywdice · 5 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

Men also benefit. Hot muggy days used to be my worst enemy. Let’s just say dry paper can’t get everything especially cuz guys have some hair. So now I use less TP, just to dry off (environment your welcome). And I can go hiking with out bothering my boxers.

This one is better then the single head one I have
