An emulator's the cheapest and most convenient, minus the occasional game that gives trouble (N64 emulation still isn't perfected). And it may be tough to get a controller set up and feeling just like the original. I haven't played with the 3rd-party options, but you've got quality-focused ones like the Tribute 64 (basically a modern recreation of the Hori Pad Mini, one of the few classic 3rd-party controllers that was considered decent). And these controllers actually have decent reviews. It sounds like the quality control may be iffy...but they're cheap, at least.

People do sell a lot of actual N64s on Ebay. "Pricey" is relative. Bought separately, the console itself might be $50-ish (hopefully with expansion pak and cables), controllers might be $15 each, games from $5-$30 should cover most of the library. There are some fun listings like that as a bundle, where you might want to ask if it comes with the expansion pak (or most of the Perfect Dark game will be inaccessible...). $100 isn't a terrible deal for a starter bundle, even if you don't care for some of the games (you never know; maybe you'll be in an odd mood one day?) If you're looking for a $50 all-in set...they're out there, but you may be looking for a while. Or getting lucky at a garage sale, talking to some coworkers, etc. Around the $20-$25 price range for games, watch out for ones shipping from China, listed as "New", or stored in neat little plastic wrap baggies. Those are warning signs for counterfeit/fake cartridges. They'll work (usually), but they've got a bad track record for reliability.

Between Ebay, Amazon, Shopgoodwill, occasional good deals from GameStop, and a few games that I was able to salvage from my parents' house (my sister got the others), I've been building a collection over about the past 10 years. The games get expensive pretty quickly. As a midpoint between emulation and collecting carts, you might consider a flash cartridge like the EverDrive. It's pricey...but if you're buying more than 5-10 games (especially popular ones), the flash cart may well end up being cheaper.

Sorry for the long post, but the original text post I made got deleted by the automoderator and I was told to post this here. I'm looking for a controller for PC gaming. I would prefer for it to have both wired and wireless capabilities (since I sometimes game on a monitor and other times on a big TV, and in the former scenario I'd prefer the minimal input lag of hard wiring, while in the latter case I'd prefer to sit further away and not deal with the hassle of another long wire), but neither of these is a must. Either/or is fine if necessary. Problem is, though, that I'm extremely picky about my controllers. Here's all the shit I want, in descending order of importance:

u/onliandone · 1 pointr/buildapc

> Cant choose between the AMD RX 480 Nitro+ 4GB & the Gainward GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.

Whichever you prefer, they are on par. Pick the cheaper or flip a coin ;)

> Cant choose between the AMD RX 480 Nitro+ 4GB & the Gainward GeForce GTX 1060 6GB.

You should stick with the stock cooler actually. If that is no option, the H7 would be a lot better.

> Dont know what kind of Network Card I am supposed to buy.

None, use the onboard ethernet.

> I5 Processor stable enough to run Virtual Machines (Hyper-V) Or I7?

Stable? Yes. But the Hyperthreadong of the i7 would be nice to have.

> Should I get 4 more Case Fans such as the Phanteks PH-F140SP_BK 82.1 CFM 140mm Fan or a cheaper 1

A good case will come with an appropriate amount of case fans, and in no case will you need 4.

> Red Dragon Karura K502 USB Gaming Keyboard worth it?(Need a silent good looking keyboard with lights, non-mechanical)

Seems nice enough.

> Dont know what kind of mouse I am suppose to buy

The Sharkoon Fireglider is a good base pick.

> Good sturdy large mousepad which fits keyboard and mouse without going off from it.

Too many options to count. Something basic like this one should work fine.

If you'd like a new controller instead of an adapter, I've used a Hyperkin Cadet before and found it to be pretty well-made. They're a little bit funny-looking thanks to the slanted/indented bottom corners, but they feel nice and professional in your hands. And unlike many third-party controller makers nowadays, Hyperkin got the d-pad right... ;)

EDIT: Actually, it's probably better to get a Hyperkin Retron 1 system instead. The system is only like $15 more than the USB controller, and comes with its own Cadet anyway (and also works with standard NES controllers IIRC). It's a 'clone' console, so there may be a few incompatibilities, but it should work fine with most NES game cartridges. And if all you want is the ability to play NES games, it's a lot less hassle than setting up a Raspberry Pi (especially since it's harder to break if your dad isn't very tech savvy, lol).

Its this one.

GameSir G3s - an fyi this is a Canadian link - this is Green but I have the black one which looks sold out and being resold for much higher than retail. The App I use supports other gamepads too.

I dug up the link for the US one for those not in the Kingdom of Canada.

It does ship with a phone holder to mount it ontop so just make sure yours fits before you consider buying.

The App is Matsu player and it does N64,PS1, All gameboy models, Snes, Nes and I think a few others. Ive tried them all and they run pretty good.

Free one has ads but after I used it for a bit of time and saw how good it ran I sprang for the full version. To each their own but I knew I'd get enough time out of it to warrant the upgrade and go ad-less.

I recently got a new wireless controler for my Retropie specifically and it works great. It has a great D-pad (often I find the case to be with newer controllers that the D-pad is often the cheapest and hurt my hand) with a nice indented multi direction movement so the corners won't kill your thumbs for some of those button mashers.

It also uses a RF receiver very similar what you see in many mice and keyboards, I often prefer these for things I use a lot as Bluetooth can often drain the batter far faster than necessary even when not in use, but that is more of a personal preference, also not all Retropies have bluetooth built into them, so the receiver solves that issue.

I hear many people recommend 8bitdo controllers and for me they just cramp up my hand and feel very cheap and way too expensive. You can even get repurposed NES/SNES/N64/Genesis and other retro controllers repurposed with a usb cord, and they are rather expensive but they are the original authentic controllers. I can first hand say the SNES and NES ones work flawlessly with the Retropie. http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?cPath=21

u/Bush_Whacker · 2 pointsr/Tekken

11 of these 24mm buttons (You can get any color, the buttons just need to be 24mm)

One 30mm button

PS3+PC PCB (You can pick a different PCB, but this is one of the cheapest. I use this one for my personal build)

Finally, you'll need a case.
This website by far has the best custom cases you can buy. They're upwards of $70, but look great. This is what mine looks like. Just make sure that if you order from here, you get the hitbox button layout top.

Your other options for a case are to buy a different custom one online, or to make your own. I did the latter first. As long as you have the tools, it's really cheap and can be a fun process. This is the video I followed for doing this.

I prefer the telescopic style that holds the phone in the center of the controller, like the one in the first link. I have seen that particular one on Amazon but don't know anything else about it, seems a bit on the expensive side.

I have an Ipega 9023 https://www.amazon.com/Extendable-Controller-Portable-Bluetooth-Wireless/dp/B016HPV5OG/
It's big enough for a tablet and works fine for a phone, but it is bulky for on the go.
The Ipega 9055 is going to be much more compact since it is geared towards phones, I plan on picking one up soon.
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ipega+9055

I also have a Bounabay Telescopic that is nice and compact. It worked great, however after 9 months of hard use it has crapped out. https://www.amazon.com/Bounabay-Wireless-Telescopic-Bluetooth-Controller/dp/B06XKSNCTM/

The Moga controller - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FB5RBJM/
and one similar to it - https://www.amazon.com/BEBONCOOL-Wireless-Bluetooth-Controller-Emulator/dp/B0171JGYF2/

I have a Gamesir G3s that is really great because it works with bluetooth on the phone or with the included wireless adapter on PC https://www.amazon.com/GameSir-G3s-Bluetooth-Controller-Smartphone/dp/B019II3I4E/

These controllers will work with emulators no problem as well as native android games that support controllers: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidGaming/comments/80mpfi/gamedevice_suggestion_requests_support_and/dv2ps3u/

u/eternallylearning · 1 pointr/GalaxyNote9

This is a decent bluetooth option and seems to meet the requirements you're looking for. It won't work with a case on, but the feel is good and it's very compact.

I had a Gamevice for my S7 Edge and it was by far the best controller I've had overall. It wasn't the best at everything, but it was compact, comfortable, and had zero latency. Build quality was nice too, though the D-Pad was a little touchy. I assume the Note 8 version works with the Note 9 since they are so similar in dimensions, but I've not seen any confirmation of it and I can't justify the price at the moment.

Personally, I have an 8bitdo SN30 Pro with a phone hook. the balance is a bit off but the controller is amazing. There is the Pro + which came out a few months ago which is an amazing controller and anyone would recommend that one.

I use a controller (if you call it that) with triggers. I don't think it helps me play but it certainly helps me not get hand cramps. look into using claw, all the really good players use this setup, not triggers.

Mine's kind of like this https://www.amazon.com/COOBILE-Controller-Joysticks-4-5-6-5inch-Compatible/dp/B07HQT3GVM/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=pubg+mobile+controller&qid=1571022760&sprefix=pubg+&sr=8-3

It's super cheap thin plastic though.

u/Blais_Of_Glory · 2 pointsr/pcgamingtechsupport

Did you install the drivers for your controller? If you did and its still not working, get a wired Microsoft Xbox 360 controller or wired Microsoft Xbox 1 controller. You can see it's much cheaper to get the wired 360 controller. If you absolutely want a wireless controller, you could get either the wireless Xbox 360 controller and the Windows Xbox 360 adapter or wireless Xbox 1 controller with Windows adapter (old version) or wireless Xbox 1 controller with Windows adapter (new version). Since they're made by Microsoft, they work fine with Windows. Logitech also makes a few good controllers, the wired Logitech Gamepad F310 and the wireless Logitech Gamepad F710. I personally have a wired Microsoft 360 controller and a wireless Logitech F710 and from my experience, the official Microsoft controllers work best with games. I hope that helps.

u/NativityCrimeScene · 2 pointsr/pcgaming

I'm a little late, but in my bedroom I have an android box + this controller + Limelight.

It only cost me ~$120 and it works for Steam in-home streaming as well as XBMC, Netflix, emulators, etc. The downside is that your gaming PC has to have certain Nvidia graphics cards and I have slight lag that makes it tough for certain genres such as online FPS games, but games like South Park: Stick of Truth work great!

u/Saberfire89 · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

The Venom posted below is alright if you're not sure, but most people will tell you to upgrade to Sanwa parts anyway, which creates a false economy. Unfortunately, in the UK we're actually pretty limited in terms of fight sticks available for purchase (for reasonable amounts of money).

I bought my RAP4 for about £120 and it's got a decent amount of heft, so it won't shift around like a Mayflash. Adjusting from pad to stick took a bit of getting used to (you'll get worse before you get better!) but it does save a lot of strain on your thumbs and IMO certain actions become way easier to pull off.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/PS4-Real-Arcade-Pro-Kai-x/dp/B00RZ7T8N6/

As far as the other discussion of Sanwa vs Hori goes, I wouldn't worry about it at this point. I've used both and prefer Hori, but I can't say that my performance would be affected if I had to play on anything else.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HORI-Arcade-Hayabusa-Fight-Stick/dp/B07895D3XF/

This is pretty much the same thing as the RAP4, but I think the layout is *slightly different. Around about the same on Amazon Prime though.

u/icemansaggin · 1 pointr/dragonballfighterz

This is a pretty good one. I've used the elite and the razer and i think the razer is better for fighting games. I like the dpad better as well.

u/MrOrphanage · 1 pointr/EmulationOnAndroid

Not that I could find. I looked into this a few weeks back because I was trying to find the same thing: a physical controller that can fit in your pocket. I did find suction controller sticks for ipads/android tablets but the general consensus was that they're all just too large for a phone's screen anyway.

FWIW, I ended up buying the Wee telescopic controller and I love it. When both the controller and phone are in my pocket, they still stick out slightly more than I'd ideally like, but it is manageable and it's by far the best/most portable option I've found yet. I highly recommend it.

complete kit with hdmi, board, case, power and sd card for [59.99.] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01CYX4HRM?psc=1) Ships free (not entirely sure what shipping is if it's not free without prime but it's cheaper than paying tax at a retailer IF you can find the nes). A 2 pack of controllers is 11.97

You are spending 71.96 with no tax compared to 60 with probably 5 dollars in tax, however, you are getting the second controller and you're also getting the freedom of this being a computer that you can put ANY rom or ANY emulator on. I would say that's the far superior route for an extra six or so dollars

u/WholesomeDM · 2 pointsr/darksouls

I think this is caused when your controller doesn't support Xinput (not entirely sure what this means, but it's how windows reads controller inputs). You can find perfectly good Xinput controllers online. I've been using This one for ages.

u/MemphisOsiris · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Yes. The solo version only, for now. It was a Kickstarter campaign. I say for now because the backers will obviously get their ones first, and the only reason people othere than backers can order now is because the factory only creates in batches. The people who ordered the single one didn't make up the full amount. This is excess stock basically

So solo version is a one handed version like the one in the pic OP posted. But you can also buy full 2 handed version later (it's what I'm waiting to buy). So you can play with the benefit of mechanical buttons, extra buttons ect.

Check Amazon for something like this.

But make sure to look at what size phone they fit, some are very small.

I haven't tested with 2 but I imagine it would work because they have 2 player mode. I use this controller. I've had it over a year now and it's been pretty solid. Good build quality and reliable.

u/UncleKruppe · 1 pointr/AndroidGaming

Hey. Apologies if my comment came across as snarky. Here's how I figured there was something fishy with the remapper app.

I was interested in the controller based on your comment above so checked prices on Amazon.

Noticed a review stating the app used to configure the controller contains malware. I searched some more and found more posts here on Reddit and other sites claiming the app was malware or mined data.

Here are some examples.

Reddit thread

Amazon 1 star reviews for G4

Amazon 1 star reviews for different GameSir product

Finally, GameSir World not being available on the Play Store is worrying. The developer has this page stating not to worry yet doesn't appear to have made any effort to address the issue.

All of this is circumstantial evidence but put together was enough to make me reconsider the purchase. I'd rather be safe than sorry, especially with the myriad other hardware and software issues reported in the linked resources.

With all that said, is there any other controller you'd recommend?

u/Deathstroke606 · 1 pointr/ffxiv

I use the snakebyte official FFXIV 1.0 controller on PC - its a mock ps3 controller with longer handles for a more comfortable grip and buttons instead of triggers for L2/R2 which I prefer so I don't end up with cramped hooks for fingers. I tend to play monk & other melee based jobs like a button bashing street fighter noob lol
Edit: although I'm in the UK & got it through uk amazon, here is the link for the controller

I didn't recommend the Retro Bit Saturn controllers because of breaking dpad issues. If you can source an original Saturn controller (version 2 or japanese model) and use an adapter, you should be good to go. I have the blue genesis pad above, good times. Genesis controllers are easier to hold for me.

Or they could just do some sort of branded controller that can fit any phone. Here's an example https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Controller-Gamepad-Andriod-Bluetooth/dp/B07NTNB3G5

It would be much more practical

  • It an it can add some battery life
  • you won't need to carry around a second device
  • it's going to be affordable so you can buy a good phone + this instead of buying two different devices
  • it's much more easier to use this type of controller if you are an iOS user because you wont need to struggle getting used to an android-ish OS

    LE
Or they could make a controller that's made out of two parts that:
  • could combine to make one controller
  • could be taken apart to make two controllers (Nintendo switch style)
  • could be attached on the sides of any phone and make a PSVita kind of "device".
u/jeremylee · 2 pointsr/AndroidTV

Sure thing. I actually misspoke, it's not bluetooth, but has a usb dongle that plugs into the shield-- so no pairing to worry about on power up. $20US on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Controller-Gamepad-Joystick-Android/dp/B01ICVHGAU/

There are many others that I'm sure work well, I think the key is just to look for the android buttons (Back and Home).

Hope this helps!

u/Humpy_Thrashabout · 1 pointr/gaming

Because family is napping from Christmas dinner, I even went ahead and tried to put this together to see how much it would cost.

The Pi Zero budget pack is $24.95. The case is $5.95. The micro-USB adapter is $2.50 (guess I don't need that). The cheapest shipping option for all of that is $9.00.

The best controller options I can find are 1 Controller for $9.99. Or 2 controllers for $11.97.

Which is a total of $49.89. And then I have to put it together and get all the ROMs and make sure they all work and fix it if it breaks.

Which is fucking laughable compared to your initial assessment of ~$8.

u/DG_Now · 1 pointr/SEGAGENESIS

You can order $20 retrobit USB controllers on Amazon. They come in a box closely modeled after the original 6-button box, which is nice.

I haven't used the 3-button pads with my Genesis Mini; I went straight to the 6-button retrobit.

So, we're talking $12 for a childhood of fun.

I got the G4 - https://www.amazon.com/GameSir-G4-Bluetooth-Controller-Android/dp/B01KZ98RUA/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483468422&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=gmaesir+g4 for Christmas and it's awesome. The phone bracket flips out but doesn't look awful if you're using it with your PC. The USB dongle hides away nicely if you're using it with a phone.

u/NoUCantHaveDilaudid · 1 pointr/Steam_Link

I use a mygt controller I found on Amazon for like $22. It used Bluetooth or wireless and comes with a dongle. It also has a built in clip you can use on your phone with it too.i liked it so much I ended up buying another one.

This is partially incorrect. There are actually three variants.

  1. USB connection. Any Xbox One controller with a micro-usb cable that can handle data and power will work.

  2. Xbox Wireless. This requires a special dongle unless it's built in to your PC (only on some Microsoft Surface devices). The dongle costs extra unless you buy a controller/dongle kit.

  3. Bluetooth. This is standard bluetooth that will work with a regular old bluetooth radio in your PC. Only specific Xbox One controllers have bluetooth support.

Here's the official page describing these.

This doesn’t solve the issue, but contrary to what others are saying, this controller allows D-pad movement for Link’s Awakening:

[Retro-Bit Official Sega Genesis USB Controller 8-Button Arcade Pad for Sega Genesis Mini]

It still sucks to hear though that the SNES controller dpad doesn’t work for movement and I’m sure getting this one controller for just Link’s Awakening isn’t ideal. But I thought I’d put this out there in case there are other controllers out there where the dpad does work.

u/-eschguy- · 1 pointr/Steam_Link

I've been using the GameSir G4 for several years and really like it. Supports bluetooth with the link and laptop, has a USB dongle for the PC and Chromebook.

u/dohertc · 1 pointr/Moto_Z

I'm excited about this but curious what makes it better than a collapsible, similarly shaped bluetooth controller for half the price, a la:

u/Luminaria19 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Xbox One controller + adapter is probably your best bet.

u/onnoj817 · 2 pointsr/kotor

i got a bluetooth controller and its great

i got this one

u/MetalMilitia206 · 2 pointsr/RetroPie

I'd recommend the new Hyperkin Cadet. It's actually very comfortable and works very well. Link here

Edit: Just realized you wanted wireless, but these do have 10 ft long cables!

https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Wolverine-Ultimate-Customizable-Controller/dp/B074RNL1RX/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1522078519&sr=1-3&keywords=razer+controller

The Razer controller (albeit 150$) is also a valid option as it has an additional 6 buttons that can be set as modifiers, which severely opens up how easy a controller can be to use.

I find that the Razer or the xbox elite controller are fine even for semi high level content. There's not all that much that they restrict you from, you can move, look, turn, cycle through targets and go into menus fine. then you have at least 40+ keybinds available for abilities and bound items.

u/BradBramish · 1 pointr/buildapc

There's not a substantial difference. The xbox one controller has better ergonomics, a flush battery compartment, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The biggest difference is how you connect to your PC: bluetooth, wireless adapter, or USB cable.

u/Zivikins · 2 pointsr/SEGA

You can get an official USB right now... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P37ZGTF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_6I82CbJSWX8XS

There is even a clear blue version or a Saturn USB controller if you so desire. 😉

I've just been using my phone and a telescopic controller like this one.

What is your budget? Razer has some very good xb1 controllers, the wildcat for example. They are expensive but have mechanical buttons and dpad. The wildcat is wireless and the new one (can't remember the name right now) is wired

Edit: got both of them right here

Sorry can't help you with that, my hand/wrist are strong af from all the fapping so I use http://www.amazon.de/gp/switch-language/product/B000KHTBQM/ref=cs_switchlang?ie=UTF8&keywords=sharkoon%20mousepad&language=en_GB&qid=1457257400&sr=8-1 that, but that's textile surfice and I think it needs to be another one to be really smooth.

I just bought the joysticks/buttons off amazon. Wired them up to this board here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F1YQ3DI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/groovy95 · -1 pointsr/SteamController

Well, this is the Steam controller sub and it's what I had handy. Steam supports the Xbox and PS4 controllers the same way, as well as any controller with generic controller inputs I think. I might actually try out one of these with Steam handling the controller config: https://www.amazon.com/GRIFTA-SOLO-GRIFTA-ANDO1LHKS-Grifta-Gamepad/dp/B01N6TZ3XG/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=grifta+solo&qid=1549651162&sr=8-1-fkmrnull

The Steam controller has the touchpad for a Dpad that can do radial menus and such, which maybe makes it better suited to games with more inputs.

I actually do have a Logitech G13 as well, but never much liked it. The joystick isn't great and the whole point, at least for me, is to get away from fumbling keyboard keys, and that thing still has a bunch of keys. The thing that makes controllers fast and reliable is that you really only have 2 fingers (thumbs) that do multiple things, and those things are laid out in a way that's easy to feel and navigate quickly.

A big ol' block of keys just isn't very precise unless you want to dump a ton of time into building up muscle memory.

u/loner-hero · 1 pointr/DFO

Fair enough, unsure what else to recommend for you since products like Logitech are the only convenient use to me I'd rather keep my controllers safe. You might need to consider looking up at amazon or google search which it should give you various kind of options. Worse comes to worse you might gonna end up buying ps3-ps4 controller, download the software and drivers to use it on your PC.

[Personal option] (https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Controller-Gamepad-Joystick-Android/dp/B01ICVHGAU/ref=pd_sbs_147_6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=SS5CNMT9CXK5BFXK33SC)

I can vouch for the retro bit sega controller personally. Feels just like the real thing. My only complaint is that it's small but I'll be trying out the Saturn one soon when I get it.

u/mresteem · 1 pointr/xboxone

This is what you'll want. Wired and wireless. The battery packs are extra but they aren't required. It takes AA (and comes with a pair) and last long enough.

Looking for an Android controller mostly for emulation. What do you think about this one? (Looking for something that I can put an android phone into, works with most things and is not too outdated, below 3K)

u/buffysbangs · 2 pointsr/SEGA

I mean how is it different from https://www.amazon.com/Retro-Bit-Official-Controller-8-Button-RetroPie-Raspberry/dp/B07P37ZGTF/ which also has the 6 button layout and is already available?

u/shrimpsmfc · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

u/BEACHBUM133 · 1 pointr/chromeos

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

They actually make a controller for that specific use.

u/zWeApOnz · 4 pointsr/gaming

Thanks so much for the detailed info!

My biggest concerns were the performance issues and controls.

For performance, it sounds like the patch that's going around fixes alot of issues. The only major downside I hear still remains is the framerate cap.

As far as controls, I've heard keyboard and mouse is horrid to use, and I'm worried my controller isn't going to be supported.

u/shesincrediblemath · 21 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

link because OP is a dunce.

edit: can anyone with a bluetooth controller confirm the rumble works over bluetooth?

u/nuttygamer · 1 pointr/ffxiv

u/redheadredshirt · 1 pointr/deadcells

I use an XBox One controller. Standard wired XBox controller will also work. (Playing this, among a bunch of other platformers and fighters suddenly, killed my other controller so I upgraded to the XB1)

If you get an XB1 controller, the USB receiver is $20 on Amazon.

Controller w/receiver combo: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-CWT-00001-Controller-Wireless-Adapter/dp/B01M5GG9I7/

Receiver by itself: https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Adapter-Windows-Packaging/dp/B0785SFKYF

Wired controller I'd recommend if you want to go the cheap (price, not quality) route: https://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-Wired-Controller-Xbox-360-Red/dp/B00EZKNT5O/

u/RetroRocker · 2 pointsr/lowendgaming

This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vibration-Feedback-Gamepad-Controller-Joystick-architecture/dp/B00NP4GT6C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1474807122&sr=8-2&keywords=gamepad

If you can get used to the fact that the 'triggers' are actually buttons, then you'll be hard pressed to find any trouble with it, It suits me just fine. Maybe the USB cable could be longer.

I can vouch for this little guy, comes with a little usb nub thing like mice do, has xinput, HID, and a custom profile, is only $30 and is really responsive. Little awkward at first, has okay battery life, and some of the buttons need to wear in over time. I'd rate it a 3.5/4, not just for the crappy nvidia jab, but also because 8.8/10 sounds stupid.
