I may be freaking out...
My favorite character is Mal (and yes, my username is dedicated to him). His loyalty is astounding. His crew is his family and I think it's extremely admirable. He keeps his head in times of hardship and usually pulls through with even a laugh or two. I love that he surrounds himself with people he'd like to be more like; or at least people with qualities he feels he's lost. He admires Kaylee for her innocence, Book for his faith, Simon's love for his sister and dedication to learning, etc. He knows he's had to bury this qualities in himself, so he keeps them close in other people so he doesn't forget them.

So, as someone who is relatively new to DMing (started just over a year ago), here's what I'd suggest to make sure you keep your cost down, while still having figures you can slowly replace over time:
---
Starting off, you can get a lot of generic "green-army-men" style fantasy figures for relatively cheap.
They're not very expensive and what they lack in quality they make up for with quantity.
---
The next best solution I have for cheap decent figures is for animals. I've been able to find tubes or tubs of a decent selection of cheap, pre-painted figures at just about every Walgreen's or CVS Pharmacy I've been to. I use these guys for animal encounters, pet companions, and they're especially helpful for my druid.
If you can't find them at your local drugstore IRL, there's plenty of selections you can find online.
---
Now, players understand you can't afford unique figures for every encounter. However, I've noticed that the figures you have stand in for whatever they're fighting can sometimes be distracting, or if you have multiple identical figures it can be confusing knowing which one they're targeting in a battle. A great, cheap solution I've found to this is just using multi-colored generic pawn pieces like from the game "Sorry!". The pieces themselves are so nondescript (other than color) that the players have an easier time projecting the combatant you describe onto them, and the various colors make it easier to track what's going on in a battle, both for the players and DM.
If you can't just salvage an old Sorry game you find lying around you can find packs of the pieces or other generic multi-colored pawns online for very cheap.
---
This last suggestion isn't really about where to find cheap figures, but more to address the reason you said you wanted figures in the first place, to "help the immersion".
You may have heard of the website HeroForge before and it's a great tool for D&D players. It allows you to make very customizable figures for your games. Now, the cost of their cheapest figures are still over $30 for a single figure, so definitely not cheap. However, as a DM, I still regularly use it. I use HeroForge to help design notable NPC's or enemies for my campaign, then save the screenshot of them and post the image in our group chat when the character gets introduced. This is very helpful for a lot of reasons: I get a more solid idea of characters that I was designing in my head, it gives the players a visual and helps with the immersion, and when I DO decide to actually order a character (like, for example, a villain or NPC I know will be reoccurring for many sessions) it becomes a MUCH bigger deal and way more intense.
I also always recommend that PC's at the very least design their figures on HeroForge for the same reasons.

I hope these were helpful. I'm still in the process of building my figure collection as well and love to share cool tips or resources I have found while doing so.
Off the top of my head
Just saying, my nephew (3 years old) loved the zombie girl Funko I have. He thought she was cute.
But. I do have family friendly funkos on my wishlist. The clown from IT is family friendly right? Anyway, Jack and Sally are as family friendly as I have I think and I am happy with any of them if I happen to win which is doubtful. OH! Or Oogie Boogie!
The recipe!!! this is something boyfriend and I make a lot cause it's super yummy!!!!!
Not OP, but here's a Robbie statue. If you buy used you can get him for $50ish, which is pretty good. I have him, and am very happy with him :)
The same company also made a Heather which I also think is very nice. A bit more expensive, but worth the money if you have it.
Keep in mind, these are big. 1/6, if you know scale. Heather is almost 10 inches tall, and Robbie is about 13.
They also made a Bubblehead Nurse (actually, the 2 nurses in her collection are these!) and a Pyramid Head, but I believe those are a bit more expensive these days.
Here, let me help you out :D These are all in the $10 to $20 range, while others go from $20 to $30. The first section is for the banks... I added some actual toys in the other sections just in case :D

There you go, I hope you find my research helpful and you can pick a few from them hehehe :D
Personally, I'm a big fan of the Quantum Mechanix Big Damn Heroes maquettes, like this AMAZING Kaylee. I also love the Fruity Oaty Girls one.
Here's a little Firefly theme parody for you:
Take my knit and take my purl,
Knitted caps aren't just for girls.
As Jayne wore his, so I'd wear mine,
A cunning hat'd be mighty fine.
As a crocheter, I must agree,
they can't take my yarn from me!
I'd think it shiny if I won
a random act of Amazon.
Knitters shout, "We guarantee
You can't take my yarn from me!"
i hope the kizu LN sell well so that Vertical can see that there's a lot of interest to warrant a full series localization.
By sealed away, some BDs come with artbooks and i put them in those bags, just the artbooks, if they are bigger i use a bigger bag like so. These are what i use to seal the artbooks shown. The one i linked previously was just for manga/LNs.
In regards to figures... I know figures are made to match preorder amount. Its the retailers/sellers that put in the order, some a little more than what really is preordered to sell after release. Another thing is that people cancel their preorders at the last minute, causing the seller to have extras. You can still get releasd figures, sometimes for cheaper than original asking price. This is why buying figures can be hard sometimes, if the figure is popular/well made the demand will be high and so will the price. At that point, you better be prepared to shell out the big bucks or pray that the manufacturer does a rerelease. The after marker isn't so bad, some people take really good care of their figures, like not taking it out of the box, etc.,and you can buy those second hand figures.
It is a slippery slope. Don't get me wrong, i like all the figures i bought but it could've been cut in half if i really limit myself to characters/shows i REALLY like. But there's no regrets now.
Re-sealable just means that it has a strip of adhesive that you can use to close the flap. You can just buy a bag with no adhesive and use a tape to secure it like what i do to my hentai manga. 2 mil thickness is a good amount, you don't want your collection to get too bulky or else you can't more in a shelf. All you really want these bags to do is protect the books from dust and air.
Browncoats unite!
I've found this Fruity Oaty Girls Bobble Head Set which I think is very shiny.
As for my favorite character, that's definitely Wash. The reason being that despite all that goes on in the Verse, he is always the first to crack a joke and a smile. Things are tough on Serenity, but he's always ready to lighten the mood when things get too heavy. He is also capable of putting that aside and being awesome when needed as well.
It looks like the top two links aren't working as of right now in the message you just replied too, there's a reason for it but it's kind of difficult to explain. Here's an Amazon link to both. Amiami has something called Pre-owned items where they restock released items through a program in Japan which makes them considerably cheaper to buy on Amiami than on Amazon or any other website. I can explain how you know when Amiami restocks the figures you want if you want to buy a few of the ones I linked. Just lmk.

The manufacturer of this one is actually FREEing, the Amazon ad says "Good Smile" but if you search Asuna FREEing figure this is what comes up, Amazon is not always 100% accurate with titles.

Thank you for the contest! You're amazing.
I don't have any figures (yet) but nendoroids seem awesome with their interchangeable reactions, and the figures I would want are all really high quality representing my favourite characters. It allows me to get cool decorations while also supporting the industry
Examples of figures:
Yukino
Emilia
Ayumi
Kurisu
Saber
edit: for reference, I am 19, turning 20 this year
You got a pretty nice deal on that. A couple months ago while I was in HK they were going for $600 there, which is just a tad less than the pre-sale price.

Edit: aww, looks like Amazon caught on, the amazing 25% discount is now over (still has a 12% though as of editing).
Here are some things I'd get a kick out of.

Other things to consider might be posters for movie adaptations, or art pieces, stickers etc based on his favorite book. Redbubble would be a good place to start, or etsy.
As far as special editions are concerned, check out Cemetery Dance.

I'd also recommend combing eBay for older Cemetery Dance books.
Hope this helps!
Well, I know what I'm saving for then.
I thought I'd be able to save some of the CE games with flexipay on the Loftwing, but if I'm going to get this Guts statue too I'll need to start selling!
Unfortunately, no I do not. I thought about picking up the RAH Link, but I've got the Good Smiles Link figma, so figured that should sate me. As for the RAH Medicom Guts, I thought about it and almost pulled the trigger, but I really wanted one with Guts AFTER going through the Eclipse(Like the one you linked). Although I do really like the look I'm somewhat nervous of damaging the cloth. The figma I was pretty interested in is this one though. All I really have to show off my Berserk fan side is the PS2 game imported from Japan and a few volumes of the manga on my shelf.
It's fantastic. Yeah, I found an unopened one for sale at amazon.co.jp. This is the listing there. It looks like there is only one left for sale now! There were three up for sale a couple of weeks ago. The only hiccup I've had is that the right ear doesn't seat properly, looking at the comments on MyFigureCollection, it's a common problem.
I shipped it to the freight-forwarder Tenso who then combined it with a bunch of other orders for me and mailed it on. Tenso are excellent, I definitely recommend using them.
Marvel Select Avenge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006WYKZX0/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_Slsyub0SS6MBE
This is the one I have and I love it, goes great with the marvel legends.
Yeah, but does it have to look like a McDonalds happy meal toy? I don't think anyone expected an $800 collectible, but considering this is what a $45 figure looks like, they could've at least tried
Well there is miniatures like what Reaper makes that are the standard but alot of people have had luck with finding what is suppose to be like kids toys miniatures and using them as they're exactly getting used in anything that might make them get crushed or broken allowing them to be used and are cheap enough to buy and are usually in bulk.
ebay is a very popular for lots but you don't just get to pick and choose. I recommend looking through walmart or target through the kids isle for like a bucket of miniatures.
https://www.amazon.com/Toysmith-36-Piece-Guardian-Knights-Action/dp/B000YA7FS6/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_21_lp_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FYQSR8BGZ73A86QMY4WE
This is what i am talking about, simple knight minis for about 7 bucks but you get a bunch.
I love these guys. For 8 bucks plus change you get 36 of them. They are about the right size for a standard gaming mat. They are good for generic enemies, but also have enough variety to differentiate them from each other. Also, half are black and half are grey, which is useful. I like to use one color for mooks and the other color for either allies or special enemies.
For larger enemies my friend use a bunch of the laminate tile samples that she had gotten from Home Depot and glued pictures to them. I'd imagine the same thing could easily be done with cardstock or cardboard.
I do have some actual mini, but we reserve them for player characters.
We have all of them but they are plastic. I would like to get a power lamp like this eventually, when I have the money haha.
I recently started a campaign and bought a sack of cheap, plastic minis to get our group started. Here's what I found on Amazon: 36 pieces for $7 and they fit my 1"x1" grid maps very well. Link
These are just knights of varying types, but there's enough there for my four PCs (bows for rangers, swords for melee types) and they can tell them apart.
In a pinch they make good stand-ins for monsters too. If you trawl through Amazon, there's plenty of "50 piece plastic skeletons" lots for under $10. They are the quality of little green army men, but they do the job well at a bargain-basement price.
Love these Little Damn Heroes figurines! Wash and his dinosaurs are adorable!
I want Jessica to make me a hat! I've been dying for a Jayne hat for ages!! :)
Nice!
I have this one, which I am in love with. (though I wish I had it in blue as well)
Kotobukiya DC Comics Nightwing New 52 ArtFX+ Statue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FFQCG6U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_XDwkzbH8PJGG3
Hmm if you only have 50 dollars then you can only get some prize figures. All the more quality figures going to cost you close to 100 before shipping. Or if you're lucky you can find people selling used figures here or mfc for cheap but that's a waiting game.

All fit in your budget but again don't be expecting like detail and quality of the 100+ scaled figures.
Personally I am going to be getting this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sega-Fate-stay-night-Premium/dp/B019TUGH62/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509809577&sr=8-1&keywords=saber+alter
Looks pretty cool and it's like €50 cheaper than any other one lol.
You're gonna find some good ones here and there, the better ones go around $80-ish sometimes, you could definitely find something around that price though! These are a bit more than $50, but if you wouldn't mind paying $20-ish out of your pocket, they'd be good buys. http://www.amazon.com/Kotobukiya-Genesis-Evangelion-Shikinami-Ani-Statue/dp/B00BIQZ1OA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1377151428&sr=8-3&keywords=evangelion+kotobukiya

There are these bucket of figures that are great, and super cheap for how many you get.
Monsters
Skeletons
Zombies
Knights
Dragons
And so on. Super cheap. Tons of figures, less than $20 for each set.
90% of the fun is actually in the miniatures tbh. It's honestly not the same without them.
It would be like if Fantasy Flight made Twilight Imperium 4th edition but instead of loads of plastic, they changed everything to different sized wooden cubes.
Even lego men, or a $2 bag of army soldiers would be better.

here is a medieval one

Just look up "bulk miniatures". They'll be poor quality, but better than a salt shaker.
Cheapest - https://www.dollartree.com/toys/action-figures-cars/Plastic-Action-Figures-2-/629c635c635p294318/index.pro
Cheap - https://www.amazon.com/Toysmith-36-Piece-Guardian-Knights-Action/dp/B000YA7FS6
Not as cheap, but actually good miniatures and can be used for RPG stuff- http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Bones
The first two won't ever look nice and the paint might eventually flake off, but 36 plastic warriors for $8 is a good place to practice building up whites, painting metals, basic highlights, and different color combinations, before you slap paint on a $25 warjack.
Do you mean the one from Good Smile? Seems like the official pre-orders are over, so you'll have to get it from somewhere else. Try one of the stores in the first link, or just go to Amazon.
http://myfigurecollection.net/item/198363
https://www.amazon.com/Good-Smile-Emblem-Awakening-Cordelia/dp/B011K380S4
You can get it here. there's also one in grey
Note this is not my picture, but I have one and I can confirm its awesome. It's a coinbank so its quite practical too, you might want to add some coins in first to add some weight.
[This](https://www.amazon.com/Kotobukiya-Comics-Justice-League-Batman/dp/B00A86AIAI/ref=pd_cp_21_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00A86AIAI&pd_rd_r=9FNH27Y4KY6Y8YVNNJ75&pd_rd_w=eLd1o&pd_ rd_wg=YeL1M&psc=1&refRID=9FNH27Y4KY6Y8YVNNJ75) is one of my favorite pieces. He's on my desk at work. Its a perfect size, magnetic base so he wont fall over.
EDIT: Thrasher Suit Batman too. you can get both of them for under your budget too!
Oh, yeah, those are statues, and I really don't understand why they're quite so expensive. The cheapest ones I've seen that look like good quality are by Kotobukiya. They make both Marvel and DC ones. You can search that name on Amazon. I've seen some priced at $40.
What some people do is buy the Marvel Legends or Marvel Select action figures, because they're pretty detailed, and use those instead. I think DC has an equivalent line, but I'm not very knowledgeable about these things.
The price does kill me... I mean, there are Marvel Select figures on Amazon for under $15. Why don't they remove the articulation and just sell plastic statues for $10? I'd buy some then.
Awesome. Yeah even if they're knock offs I'd still would love to have more. Because horo figures are expensive as fuck. http://www.amazon.com/Spice-Wolf-Scale-Figure-Company/dp/B001NCEDJ8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1426436827&sr=8-2&keywords=Horo+figure
For the Berserk figure, this is what I bought, but the price increased dramatically.

But there is a similar pre-order for a much better price (the blade is just a little different)

Here are the Goku figures I got:

Unfortunately I'm almost positive that's a bootleg, especially since that figure runs more than $100 usually. This one however on Amazon, is actually from the Kotobukiya Amazon store, which is the manufacturer. So buying from that link would pretty much be guaranteed a genuine figure. Unfortunately since it's a pretty old figure, she's really hard to find new, so sites like AmiAmi wouldn't carry her.
Do you collect Marvel figures too? I've bought a few recently, namely the Marvel Select Thor Ragnarok Gladiator Hulk and Gladiator Thor.

That's an awesome idea. I found a couple of cool things around the net. These could absolutely work:
http://www.amazon.com/Toysmith-Guardian-Knights-Action-36-Piece/dp/B000YA7FS6
Nep related: Hyperdevotion, RB3 and RB2 JP LEs came in some days ago, as well as Blanc figure (+ crystal paperweight) yesterday. God she looks so good in her uniform.
Now I'm waiting for my other orders to be delivered:
After some time, I'll also buy:
I also pre-ordered some items on ami-ami:
After all that comes in I'll maybe consider buying some more figures (damn Uni and Gear prices). Until that, I would have to find a good way to place my stuff on the desk; what I currently have:
And as this desk has my computer monitor and some other stuff, it will be hard.

It ships from Australia and they have more than 10 in stock, also the price is super cheap seems worthy of suspicion to me.....
What do you guys think?
Yes it is. I own the same one brother!
Amen to best girl.
Still thinking about buying this one aswell tho. My heart says yes, but my wallet says no.
here you go
Might be able to find it cheaper on a Japanese auction site or something, but it’s still pretty pricey.
I don't know but I found these threads:

It looks like this site is a little sketchy. This figure is available on Amazon for about $100.
Lmao, I'm getting the itch again lately- what to get.. hmmm. This or this
There's a set of cheap plastic knights/warriors for $7 which I think is a great starter kit:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YA7FS6/
Ok, ThinkGeek has the New52 I linked above still in stock for $99.
Amazon has the Christian Bale Batman for about that as well.
Put your case on the floor and give your hands more room to move around.
Manage your cables and maybe find a cooler looking headphone stand like this or a simple one like this
I'm still very happy with my Gecco Heather statue (I did not may that much for it). I also got this 2B and Machine Lifeform set and gave away 2B because all I wanted was the Stubby with the bucket.
If you need minis there are lots of cool ideas on how to make cheap ones:
Like this - http://newbiedm.com/2008/11/22/newbiedm-tutorial-counters-tokens-or-pogs/
People also use small wooden pegs (like these) and decorate them.
Some people also use Lego.

I got a $200 green lantern power battery that lights up when you point the green lantern ring at it. It's awesome, no regrets. http://www.amazon.com/DC-Collectibles-Lantern-Battery-Accessory/dp/B00B40BYAK if anyone wants to see what it looks like. Of course it's less money now.
I put this in my cart about an hour ago, trying to decide if I'm going to go through with it:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FWITOG0/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_mHNmybRPC6R76
I saw it in my LCS and it looked nice.
Nice, I bought https://www.amazon.com/Monogram-Marvel-Heroes-Deadpool-Statue/dp/B00VLZB0SE and put a handful of change in it to weight it.
I'm trying to save up for this magestic Green Lantern replica. It's big and geeky and its me
That kurisu figure was actually my first figure. I know someone already posted a link to it on amiami, but she's still up on Amazon for 90 dollars, and it has prime available, so it should be guaranteed to be authentic as long as you buy it from a seller who's doing prime shipping.
Here
Generally though, Amazon CAN be dangerous to buy from, if you don't know what you're doing. There's plenty of bootleg out there. However, if you can recognize it soon after you get it, you can file a claim on Amazon, and they'll get you that money returned with the A-z guarantee policy.
It's the one that's in the album.
This one: http://www.amazon.com/toys-games/dp/B0084EIX5S
It was a gift from my in-laws... but I want the Jim Lee one... and they'll never know the difference.
I like using these guys for my enemies https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDBZPIU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_02l4AbR0CA2M8

Which one?
The Kotobukiya is this one. The other two came in loot crates.

This one was $40. I saw the figure of Kurisu with the gears but it was $115, along with one of Kyoma that was $130.
When I saw this one I snatched it right away :D
Here
Correct, it's this one:

I had to put some coins in for the weight, it just manages to tip over without any additional weigth.
plastic knights
SH Figuarts Hulk is the best looking MCU Hulk in my opinion. But, I know how expensive it is and how risky it is to buy loose. I recommend the Diamond select as an alternative which is a tad cheaper but might find it even more cheaper loose on ebay

These are even better
So I want to order the Kotobukiya Makise figure that’s coming out in July, but TOM ended preorders and Solaris seems high with shipping. It’s available for preorder directly through amazon (says shipped and fulfilled) at the link. Is this safe or am I going to get scammed?

Edit: just saw the description of the thread. I am idiot.
I saw this on r/PCMasterRace and did the same. Not the cheapest solution, but now I have a Deadpool head on my desk, a place for headphones, and I no longer keep my loose change in a cup in the cabinet.

EX:
That's a good call and now I kind of want one. I've been debating buying this but I don't really collect figures so it would be kind of lonely.
I'll usually only buy figures for series I'm truely enamored with. I keep all of mine in my office, opened, in various places. I try and stay away from some of the more expensive ones. Unless there is really something that catches my eye. This Kurisu statue being probably the next addition to my collection and will also be the most expensive.
My first purchase was a Ryoko Hakubi though sadly is not a picture of mine. i no longer have that one due to a very annoying feline who hunts expensive objects in my house.
