36. Dr. Eddie’s Happy Cappy Medicated Shampoo for Children, Treats Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis, Clinically Tested, No Fragrance, Stops Flakes and Redness on Sensitive Scalps and Skin, 8 oz

    Features:
  • Dr. Eddie’s Happy Cappy Medicated Shampoo and Body Wash, known as "A Pediatrician’s Solution," fights flaking, redness, itching, scaling, and irritation on the scalp and skin for children of all ages. These bothersome symptoms are known as dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. 1 in 3 children under the age of 5 are affected by this condition.
  • Many people refer to seborrheic dermatitis as “cradle cap.” Pediatricians regularly recommend adult dandruff shampoos for this condition because they contain an active ingredient to control seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. Until now there was no children’s seborrheic dermatitis shampoo and body wash.
  • Happy Cappy is the first OTC (Over The Counter) shampoo and body wash made specifically for children of all ages with active ingredient, pyrithione zinc, which has been proven safe and effective for many decades for relief of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. It also contains the natural ingredient Licorice Root Extract to help soothe redness behind ears, under armpits, and in neck folds.
  • Happy Cappy’s gentle, fragrance free, dermatologist tested, dye free, alcohol free, paraben free, sulfate free, BPA free, and gluten free formula eliminates flaking while still leaving the skin and hair soft and smooth. Happy Cappy is cruelty free and vegan.
  • Some people may see results in as few as one or two washes. However, most will see significant improvement after 1 to 2 weeks of use. People with thick scale build up, should consider leaving the shampoo on for 1-2 minutes before rinsing. People in this latter category should start to see results in 2-3 weeks. Once the scaling and flaking is under control, we suggest tapering use to 2-3 times per week. Use of a cradle cap brush is unnecessary.

I also adore cook books, I even have a Fairy Tale feast cookbook, it's awesome. Books about photography and makeup or just quirky books are cool too (I have a wishlist for them...I need to add more)

hello everyone!! so here is my routine (i’ll admit it’s pretty simple and mostly stolen from others on this subreddit so don’t credit me for this stuff!! just passing it along)

-First of all, this shampoo brush has been a game changer. So my basic understanding is that you really want to get those flakes off your scalp when you shampoo, but you also don’t want to scrub so hard that you scratch your scalp with your sharp nails which is why this brush is perfect. It does a fantastic job of massaging the scalp and just feels amazing. Don’t scrub too hard with it either!!

INITIAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT (2-3 weeks)

Okay so pretty much i’m alternating between three different shampoos:

  1. Nizoral A-D Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, 7 Fl. Oz

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AINMFAC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_pnaEDbGAET57X

    • Monday, Wednesday, Saturday

    • Right now I use this 3 times a week because it’s early on in my sebderm treatment. Pretty soon i’ll be reducing how much I use it once my sebderm is really more fully in control for a while. It’s pretty strong so you really shouldn’t use it daily which is why i’ll be switching up my routine soon. I’ll include what i’ll be changing my routine to at the bottom of this post.

  2. Dr. Eddie's Happy Cappy Medicated Shampoo for Children, Treats Dandruff and Seborrheic Dermatitis, Clinically Tested, Fragrance Free, Stops Flakes and Redness on Sensitive Scalps and Skin, 8 oz

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07857W8MS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_e9aEDbTA9R4M6

    • Tuesday, Friday, Sunday

    • This has really become my favorite shampoo by a long shot. It’s gentle because it’s generally for babies but as you can see in the comments, great for adults too. Doesn’t strip the oils in your hair so I also highly recommend this on days you don’t want frizzy hair but feel like you should wash your hair.

  3. Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo Original Formula

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001E96OWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dWaEDbP3581SG

    • Thursdays

    • So while this has helped my scalp in the past a bit, I mostly still use it because I have a few bottles left over and it’s smart to switch up shampoos so you don’t become immune to one. Someone on this sub recommended the generic amazon brand of this shampoo which i’ll probably be trying soon once I run out of the name brand stuff.

Okay so, although I really want to nuke the shit out of my scalp, I know it’s not smart in the long term so i’m going to translation into a new routine pretty soon. The only new product i’ll be adding to my routine is:

  • Dr. Eddie's Happy Cappy Daily Shampoo & Body Wash for Children, Soothes Dry, Itchy, Irritated, Sensitive Skin, Dermatologist Tested, Fragrance Free, Dye Free, Sulfate Free, 8 oz

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C66WVDJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1-aEDb49FSARW

    • This is just a daily, not medicated version of the Dr. Eddie’s shampoo i’m using right now.

I’ll update if it changes but as of right now my projected routine will be:

      -Monday: Nizoral
      -Tuesday: Dr. Eddie’s Daily Shampoo
      -Wednesday: Dr. Eddie’s Medicated Shampoo
      -Thursday: Dr. Eddie’s Daily Shampoo
      -Friday: Dr. Eddie’s Medicated Shampoo
      -Saturday; Dr. Eddie’s Daily Shampoo
      -Sunday: T-Gel

I’m hoping even to only do this routine for just a bit if my sebderm is fully in control. My IDEAL routine will eventually be:

-Monday: Nizoral/T-gel (Switching back and forth between these)
      -Tuesday: No Shampoo
      -Wednesday: Dr. Eddie’s Medicated shampoo
      -Thursday: Dr. Eddie’s Daily shampoo
      -Friday: No shampoo
      -Saturday: Dr. Eddie’s Daily shampoo
      -Sunday: Dr. Eddie’s Medicated shampoo

Hope this helps! My sebderm and shedding isn’t completely gone yet, but it’s DRAMATICALLY improved. I honestly almost want to cry tears of joy when I run my hands through my hair without a BUNCH of hairs on my hands afterward. I’m also going to experimenting with tea tree oil on my scalp soon to retain moisture. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE SHAMPOO BRUSH!!! Let me know if ya have any questions!

I also just want to mention that this has been after a long journey of seeing several doctors who didn’t have a clue how to help, dermatologists who claimed to know how to help, and hair transplant specialists that had to assure me I most likely did not have male pattern baldness when I was freaking out that I might. Don’t give up! Treat your scalp well and eat well! Also avoid hairloss subreddits lol even if your hairloss IS genetic lol

Definitely sounds like adhesion problems. A good first layer is the most important thing for a successful print, so hopefully once you get this figured out you will start having a lot more success.

In my opinion, there are three parts to a good first layer:

  1. Z-heights. In my opinion, this is the most important thing and you should get this working first before trying any crazy other things. For the first layer to work, you need to be very precise in how close the nozzle starts to the bed. This in of itself has two parts as well - z-offset, and bed levelness. The z-offset is set either with software settings if you have an auto-leveling probe (I think), or by some sort of mechanical endstop that will get bumped when your printer is leveling itself. Regarding bed levelness, if your bed is unlevel (and you don't have an auto-leveling probe compensating for it), then you will have different heights at different parts of your print bed, which will cause problems. I think that Monoprice printers have mechanical endstops, but they are not easily adjustable. That means that you have to do everything by adjusting the overall bed height to meet the nozzle, rather than having some control over both the bed levelness and the endstop engagement. The general rule of thumb for z-height is that you want to be able to just barely slide a piece of paper between the nozzle and the bed surface. I found the manual for your printer: take a look at step 7 on page 8 of the setup process, which explains it a bit. I recommend you level it while both the bed and the nozzle are hot (just be careful not to burn yourself). Position the extruder over the corner you will be adjusting, command the z-axis to home, and try to move the paper. My rule of thumb is if I can push the paper without it bunching up, but can still feel that there is some resistance from the nozzle, then I have it good. There is actually a tiny range of acceptable heights, and if you want to get really good adhesion then you can dial them down a little tighter, although that can cause other issues if you go too extreme. Repeat the paper test at all 4 corners, and then repeat it everywhere as a check- sometimes adjusting one corner can throw off all the others. Also test it in the middle of the bed to make sure that it isn't warped or twisted. [Edit] Also take a look at the pictures after step 21 on page 10. That should be a good indicator of if you have set your heights correctly.

  2. Bed material. Plastic sticks better to some materials than to others. Other people have advised you on this already. I print with blue painter's tape, which has been really excellent for me. Keep in mind that different brands can be slightly different, so if you are having issues with one type then trying a different one might help- even if masking tape is very similar to painter's tape, the former might just not be good for holding onto 3d printer plastic. Kapton tape is also good, though more expensive and less disposable. I like that I can totally trash my print surface to take a stubborn print off the bed without wasting a ton of money. Other people print on borosilicate glass beds, which you can often get cut to size at hardware or home improvement stores- just be careful not to increase the height without adjusting your endstops somehow, which could cause your nozzle to crash into the bed if your mechanical endstop is set for a bare bed. Keep in mind that you will need to level your bed with the material on it, since adding stuff will increase the height of the bed slightly and will affect the paper test.

  3. Bed adhesion aids. This is extra stuff to add onto the bed to increase adhesion. My printer can print well with just a good level surface and blue painter tape, but I use Aquanet Hairspray when I really want to get good adhesion for a weird print that won't have much first layer surface area. (check out "customers who bought this item also bought..." for a little laugh). You can pick up that up at a CVS or Walgreens. Other people have suggested glue sticks and other stuff.

Some more little things, you are printing with ABS which has a high coefficient of thermal expansion. That means it has a strong tendency to warp and shrink as you print, which can cause the corners of your print to peel up off the bed. You can mitigate that slightly by controlling the ambient temperature around your printer more carefully. Get some sort of enclosure to stick your printer in to keep it hot- something simple like an insulated plastic bag, cardboard box, or tupperware container can work. Just be careful not to use anything flammable that the hot end could ignite.

Alternatively, you could try a different plastic. PLA is a much more beginner friendly material that shouldn't give you the same warping problems that ABS does and doesn't need a heated enclosure at all. It has it's own problems that you may run into, but it should be much easier to get your first few good prints out of your printer with it.

Ooooh fun topic! Hair background: I'm not sure if I have thick hair, or just a lot of it, but the volume is not lacking! It's got a mind of its own as far as texture - sometimes more wavy, sometimes more straight, sometimes even straight up curly. Length - mid-back to low-back, depending on whether I needed a big chunk of dead ends chopped off. Dyed religiously because prematurely gray is not my style. :'( Because of this dying, my hair is crazy dry. And I live in a really humid climate.

Products!

  • Olaplex No. 3 - I use this pre-shampoo/condition about twice a month. Truly a hair saver. If I could only own a single hair product, it would be this! Makes my "hay" hair soft again, and tones down the tangles.
  • Oribe Royal Blowout - this is a heat styling spray that I use if I'm going to blow dry or use heat styling. Smells amazeballs!
  • Oribe Anti-Humidity spray - To be honest, I don't know how much this helps, but it makes me feel better about walking out into 90% humidity after I just finished styling my hair. Also, smells amazeballs. :)
  • Deva Curl Low Poo - One of the shampoos I alternate between. I don't use it for the curls/waves so much as I do for the gentle formula and softness it brings out in my hair. Does NOT smell amazeballs, haha.
  • ION Purify shampoo - This is the other shampoo I alternate between. We have extremely hard water (I've also gotten a shower head filter, but still hard) and the build up needs washed out. Supposed to be good for after swimming in chlorine too. My hair feels weird after rinsing it out, like it's dying for the conditioner, but feels SUPER soft after conditioning and drying.
  • Deva Curl Conditioner - One of the many conditioners I alternate between. This is one that I usually use after the Deva Curl shampoo. Smells weird, but softer hair, so I tolerate it.
  • Argan Conditioning Mask - Another conditioner I alternate with. I use the heavy duty conditioners/masks once a week because of the dry texture of my hair. This one is a holy grail hair mask! Smells soooooo good and hair is like silk...or as close as it can get after dying every 6-8 weeks for over 7 years!
  • It's a 10 Hair Mask - I definitely like this hair mask, just not as much as the Argan one. Smells great - nicely conditions.
  • Oribe Glaze - I use this halfway between my hair colorings. It's supposed to help bring the shine back like right after you get your hair dyed. I don't like how it makes my scalp feel after using it...kinda greasy/build-up-y feeling, so that's why I use it so sparingly. Plus it is heavily perfumed, and while I like it, I have eczema so I'm cautious about what washes down my body in the shower.

Editing to add things I forgot: I use a special microfiber towel for drying my hair (cause it's supposed to help with frizz), then I air dry the rest of the way 99% of the time. I will use a straightener or curling iron periodically, but actually want to start using those more often. There's only so much pretty you can get without heat styling.

I sleep on a satin pillow case because that's supposed to help with frizz and breakage.

I have a hard time taking good photos of my hair, but I noticed that it looked pretty nice here so I'm taking the time to share my routine with you guys!

Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo

Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner (rinse out)

Then when I get out of the shower I use the L.O.C. Method with these products followed by squishing my hair in the sink with a few hand-cup-fulls of warm water. I found that raking them in and then squishing my hair with a little water afterwords eliminated the frizz that I got when I did S2C and also made my curls clump together more neatly since the products add a bit of slip. It also removes any excess product and doesn't make my hair feel greasy and weighed down as it did with S2C.

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner (leave-in)

Una Designing Oil Non Oil (dime sized amount on each side of my head)

Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner (only on the bottom 1/2 of my hair)

This is when I squish with the water and then I grab my Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel and rub a good amount into my palms. I run my fingers gently through my now clumped and dripping wet curls, and then squish from the bottom which gets rid of the excess water and allows the gel to form a cast around the curls. I do this on both sides of my head, and then squish any dripping water away with a cotton t-shirt.

I then diffuse my hair on a medium heat setting until it is about 40% dry, and then I transfer over to my space heater. The reason I do this is because diffusing gives me good volume, but if I diffuse all the way my hair gets too much volume and ends up looking 1/2 the length it is and my curls begin to warp in to wonky directions. By switching to my space heater, the slow warm air flow doesn't disrupt my pattern and makes my hair dry extra soft and bouncy. I don't like air drying because it takes way too long, and from me moving around I get a lot of frizz. I also noticed that it feels more like the products are just sitting on my hair rather than drying to become soft and flowy.

I am now able to pineapple my hair at night (I prefer using these scrunchies over traditional hair ties because they stay in place 100x better and also just slide off of my hair without giving me snagged curls, frizz, or any sort of kink) without even using a satin pillowcase, and come out the next day with what I could call almost better than day 1 second day curls! The pineapple gives me even more volume without taking away length and I just go in with a little bit of water on my fingers to smooth out any out of place curls. I give full credit to the Eco Styler Gel for allowing me this luxury. It didn't work for me with my previous routine, but now that I have converted to the L.O.C. Method I couldn't be more pleased and in love with my hair!

Sidenote: I also dyed my hair with Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Cream #63 Brown Sugar to get rid of my roots and lighten my hair a very very slight bit, and I came out with ZERO damage, ZERO difference in texture, and ZERO split ends. My hair is so healthy now, I am beyond amazed.

Thank you to the moon and back to all of you here for helping me figure out how to take good care of my curls and allowing them to reach their full potential. I am forever grateful! <3

Okay.

You need some shape to your hair. You also need to stop using a comb. Using a comb makes all the hairs look too uniform and will make any thinning or balding stick out like a sore thumb. Combs should really only ever be used when trying to achieve that hipster hard part/Mad Men look. I'm a big fan of more natural hairstyles. I would highly suggest growing out your hair a bit (while you still can) and using some sort of fiber or pomade product. I don't have a hair loss problem personally but my friend does and uses Rogaine and has had great results. In the long run, you may just need to bite the bullet and keep your head shaved. But for now, while you're young and in college, there's no reason why you can't try to have a good head of hair for a bit. When using either fiber or pomade, you just need to use about a quarter-sized amount in your hair. There's no real method to it. Just work it into your hair spiking pieces here and there. Maybe twisting some sections for extra texture. The longer your hair is on top, the more you can do with it. You could go with either of these and look a lot better.

Shorter Hair

Medium/Messy Hair

My suggestions for products are below.

  1. Layrite - Good hold. Will give some shine to your hair. Water based so it washes out easily.

  2. Fiber Grease - Asian product so the directions and labeling are oddly worded. But smells like apples and has very good hold with good shine. Water based as well so it will wash out easily.

  3. American Crew Fiber - Decent hold. A lot of people on this sub like this one. Provides more of a matte/natural look to your hair. It's a little more "waxy" feeling. Still washes out, just not as easily as water based pomades.

  4. Rough Rider by Kevin Murphy - Most expensive option. Probably the best hold out of all the products mentioned here. A small amount goes a long way, this container will last you a long time. More of a "clay" feel in your hands. You may want to use this in combination with a "shiny" fiber like the Fiber Grease as Rough Rider has more of a matte finish to it.

EDIT: I agree with u/rogertaylorswift. Keep the sides clean and trimmed but leave yourself some length on top to play around with. A little product goes a long way. The key is not using too much. Then you get into the realm of seeming like you're "trying too hard" as you mentioned. All these products are available off Amazon. I wouldn't go crazy trying to find them in China when you can just get them delivered to your dorm room.
u/moothril · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I, too, have thin, fine asian hair but this is exactly what I did, a shoulder length bob. It's so good. I cut it even shorter recently, to just below my ears, and I love it. I went down a list of salons recommended in my city by yelp for women (there's a LOT of salons specifically for dudes here) and also started asking around and determined I would try them one by one until I found someone I liked - got lucky on the first try!

What I've found that works best for me is washing once every week to week and a half with Neutrogena anti-residue shampoo and in between I use Lush dry shampoo or Batiste dry shampoo. The Lush one lasts forever and is more environmentally friendly, I think, but it's harder to blend. Batiste is easier and what I wear when it's more "special" (lol, going out with friends/date as opposed to work).

Sometimes, especially now that it's winter, I get really dry scalp so the Neutrogena shampoo doesn't help with that and sometimes makes it worse for a day or two after using it. :/ However, it's the best method that I've found overall, all factors considered. For awhile I was using extra moisturizing shea butter shampoo massaged into my scalp like a lot of stuff I've read recommends, but it was such a hassle to wait for my hair to dry then dry shampoo the hair itself so it didn't look so oily (I feel like my part/crown of my head is where my hair looks stringy and oily).

I hope some of this helps~

Also, I felt like having some volume would help, so I tried out sea salt spray and root lifting products like my stylist recommended. I just felt like my hair would be more stringy/brittle/oily looking after using them, though, so I gave up and have just been washing and rocking the cut that I have. I'm sure if I experimented I could learn to make my hair look more voluminous but I'm pretty happy with how it looks now and too lazy to figure it out...maybe later.

Hi /r/Xylies

Well done for deciding to stop using the straightener!

Unfortunately at this moment in time, hair repair is not permanent. However, there are solutions that can have a lasting effect.
My first and most important recommendation would be to get a haircut, this will remove any split ends and the bulk of damage.

Here is a list of things that will help:

u/UnderSomeRock · 2 pointsr/Naturalhair

I would definitely look into the LOC method! What products are you currently using in your hair?

So this was my comment on a post from about a month ago, but it might help you too!:

I have my best luck on hair that is drenched in conditioner. I never try to detangle dry hair (but it works for some people). My method for extremely tangled hair:

  • section hair into 4-6 sections with clips or hair ties

  • apply conditioner to a section till drenched. (Sometimes it helps to either (1) wet hair first with a spray bottle like this, then apply conditioner, or (2) mix conditioner and water in a spray bottle

  • finger detangle section

  • use wide tooth comb like this to gently detangle hair. start at the end of the hair and with each pass of the comb gradually move up higher until you reach the root of your hair and are combing from root to ends

  • put the section back up and move on to the next, following the same steps

  • shampoo and condition hair like normal

  • for extra detangling, I might finger detangle/ comb my hair again while conditioner in is my hair, using the stream of water to help ease out any tangles

If my hair isn’t too tangled, I basically do the same process, but I do it all in the shower (sectioned hair, detangle section by section with conditioner)

Naptural85 on YouTube also has some pretty great tips/ videos showing exactly how she does it

Also, you should totally check out r/curlyhair.

Sorry this was so long! 😅

> I just was paranoid about my products containing vitamin A, but it seems like few products do

Yeah, products usually make it pretty clear if there's a retinoid in their ingredients list since that would be a major selling point. If there isn't an indication of that in the product name or key effects, the product won't have a retinoid in meaningful amounts in there.

>The link I had is an emulsion, I’ve heard that the same-but-not-same as toner, and I’m confused. Can I be using that as a toner?

Toner just refers to the consistency of a product - a super thin, liquidy product. Emulsions are a bit thicker, but honestly I wouldn't get too caught up in all the different consistencies for moisturizing products - they go from thin to thick, the rest is just classification. I think an emulsion would be light enough to use before tretinoin, especially if you use a thin layer :)

>Do you have any suggestions, for a good toner?

Yes! I haven't tried most of these (my skin doesn't seem to benefit much from toners), but here's a list of common hydrating toner recs:

I have to agree with the others and add one point...

  1. Co-washing probably isn't the best choice for you. Your hair looks to be on the finer side, which means if you pick up one individual strand of hair between your thumb and finger and close your eyes you almost can't feel it. Finer hair can sometimes be weighed down too much by cowashing and look limp, or, according to the WEN lawsuit, the conditioner can weigh down hair and clog follicles causing hair loss/no new growth. I have finer hair as well and tried cowashing with New Wash, which was nice, but ultimately my hair felt to0 dragged down no matter how much I seemed to rinse it out.

If you want to read/hear a scientific take on your shampoo and conditioner choices and their effectiveness I would read the summary/listen to this Beauty Brains podcast.

  2. You might be too rough on your hair in it's wet state. As mentioned, hair is more susceptible to damage when wet so should be handled with care when detangling. I LOVE The Wet Brush for gently detangling and brushing through wet hair, you should definitely get one! It's made a huge difference for me when I have clients with wet, tangly hair. I see so much less hair in the brush afterwards when I go through their hair with a Wet Brush versus when I used a wide tooth comb on them in the past.

ONE ADDITIONAL TIP: I'm a girl with finer textured hair, and medium to low density. My hair has always been that way. But something that has helped my hair is taking the supplement [Viviscal] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002JPJ2ZS/ref=sr_ph_1_s_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1463724141&sr=sr-1&keywords=viviscal). You take it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. It took two months for me to start really noticing a difference (and this is with me taking it twice a day almost everyday, I rarely miss any "doses"), but it has definitely improved the quality of my hair. My hair looks and feels stronger and healthier, seems thicker to me and it is actually growing faster as well. I've had multiple people mention how fast my hair is growing without me even telling them I have been taking a hair supplement.

I know it's hard to stay faithful to taking it twice a day because it does take a while to start to see results but you have to think of it like exercise. You don't go to the gym once and suddenly have Jackie Chan "Rumble in the Bronx" bod. It's something you have to work toward and then maintain. I've been taking Viviscal for seven months and I'm really pleased, but I know if I stop taking it regularly the results will go away. So I guess I'm a Viviscal addict for life now ha.

1.) I'm in the middle but more on the same side you are. Normally I never win anything. I've had something similar where I'll be with a group of people and they'll all win something and I wont. Meanwhile my SO and his friend just won playoff tickets to a game that I entered a bunch of times (you could enter once a day) and they only entered once. I never win scratch offs or other lottery type tickets either but all the tickets I'll buy for people will be big winners for them. On the other hand I've won a contest here which surprised the hell out of me because I was having a terrible day then came home and saw I had one.

2. This is something I saw while looking at someone elses wish lish and fell in love. It's adorable and I wear buns all the time so it will work nicely.

thanks for the contest and everyone's a winner

You can try a couple things. A dry shampoo is really great at getting rid of the extra oil and giving you volume. I love this particular one by Batiste. You can still take a shower, put your hair in a shower cap, and then use the dry shampoo when you get out. I only just started using this, but I have to say that I'm in love. I got to day four without washing my hair and normally I'm stretching it with two.

Secondly, you can also try co-washing, which is washing with conditioner. This helps to keep your hair moisturized and avoids using any shampoo. There are lots of instructions online for co-washing. I used to just rub a handful of cheap conditioner (The coconut Suave Naturals conditioner worked for me) into my scalp, and then REALLY SCRUB my scalp with my fingertips. (Think of it like giving yourself a head massage.) Really scrubbing your scalp is the key. If you just put some conditioner in and then rinse it out, it's not going to help with the dirt in your hair. After scrubbing, rise out, and then go on to actually condition your hair with a real conditioner. If you need more information on co-washing, checkout /r/curlyhair. They're super helpful and they have a great sidebar for more information.

Hope this helps. :)

Edit: One note - the baking soder/vinegar thing might work since it's kind of the same concept of co-washing, and the grain of the baking soda would help to get rid of dirt and oil. I've never tried it, but it seems like it would make your hair smell like baking soda and vinegar. :-/

My day starts the night before and doesn't go very well if I'm not prepared for it:

  • Prepare lunch for the next day. Currently alternating between mango+blueberry+strawberry salad (50% mixed greens, 50% spinach) with mango dressing (on the side, don't want a soggy salad), and a rice bowl of brown rice, grilled chicken, snow peas, bean sprouts, spinach, and topped with a homemade sugar-free teriyaki sauce. Rice, chicken, and sauce are all prepared the Sunday before.
  • Visit sleepyti.me or use the app (Android, don't know about iDevices) to figure out when I should be going to bed or waking up.
  • Take vitamins: Fish oil (extremely important for healthy skin/hair), men's multivitamin, calcium+D3 - Whether or not I take half or whole of these depends on other supplements I take throughout the day and/or my diet. I get these from Costco.
  • Use 2-step facial peel every-other night, wash face with glycolic face cleanser on the other nights.
  • Moisturize on nights that I use cleanser only, as the 2-step peel moisturizes enough on its own. I will stress that cleanser is very much dependent on skin-type and what works well for you. Go to Sephora and talk to someone there about what to use, they'll happily give you a few samples, try each for a couple days and then go back and buy the one that works best for you. You shouldn't start to get oily until the end of your day with a good moisturizer that's working for you.
  • Brush lightly without toothpaste or with a fluoride mouthwash - Limit brushing, more than once a day can actually do more damage than good. (Friend is a dentist)
  • Floss

    Then when morning comes..
  • Hit 10 minute snooze 2-3 times
  • Maneuver out of the bed, trying not to disturb the cat, occasionally the missus if she has a late start, and the dog that doesn't fit but thinks he should anyway.
  • I've had laser hair removal on my neck, so I don't worry about shaving there. I've been rocking the two-day stubble look on the rest of my face, so every-other day I trim with a bare blade on the trimmer.
  • I only shower every day when I'm working out like I should be. Other than that, every-other day. Better for your hair and skin, natural oils and such. Make sure the shower is just warm enough that you're not shivering. This will wake your ass right up and remind you that the rest of the day probably won't go how you'd like it to (margaritas on the beach). I switch products often, but right now I'm using Bumble&Bumble Creme de Coco shampoo and conditioner for the hair, Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser for the face (it's warming and feels nice in a cold shower), and Olay Ultra Moisture w/Shea Butter for body scrub- it has almost no scent and keeps your skin moist enough to not use lotion on your entire body.
  • Towel dry hair, not all the way, but close.
  • Add the following products in the following order to hair: one and one-half pumps of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum (only if you have thick or frizzy hair, DO NOT use this if you have fine hair), generous misting (do not drench) of Bumble&Bumble Styling Lotion, and for hold 1-2 fingertip-sized gobs of Bumble&Bumble Sumotech - I let all of this sit for a couple minutes while I proceed with next steps
  • Anti-ingrown hair with Anthony Logistics for Men Ingrown Hair Treatment - Let this dry/set before moisturizing with Boscia Black Hydration Gel
  • Deodorant- Which one I use depends on whether or not I'm going to use cologne: With cologne I use either unscented or matching (currently Gucci Guilty), without cologne I really like Jack Black Pit Boss Antiperspirant & Deodorant - it's not a heavy scent, and it lasts all day for anti-stink and anti-wet shirt (wet spots on the underarms of your shirt does not a gentleman make).
  • Blow-dry and shape hair, self-explanatory.
  • Brush teeth
  • Get dressed
  • Breakfast of chilled steel-cut oats mixed with vanilla fat-free Greek yogurt (this is made in large quantities on Sundays, would be happy to further share recipe), with mixed berries (blue, straw, black), mango, ground flax (body can't digest/process whole flax seeds, you'll just shit them out without getting any value), and almonds. French press coffee if I have time to grind, drip if not, preground from local coffee shop.
  • Feed and water the animals, take the dog out for a quick walk.

    Weekly tasks:
  • Pluck stray eyebrow hairs. If you have caterpillars above your eyeballs, nobody will take you seriously (see monthly tasks).
  • If you have body hair that you do not like, trim it. If you wear V neck shirts or if you are West coast and don't wear a tie, you shouldn't be doing the last button of your shirt up. So trim at least the top of your chest.
  • Clip your nails. I need to do this every 7-10 days.

    Monthly Tasks:
  • Get your eyebrows shaped. The barber/salon you go to should offer this service for $10-15 + tip.
  • I get my hair cut every 6 weeks, but if you go to a good barber/salon, you should be able to go in every 2 weeks or so and get the back of your neck and around your ears trimmed for free. This will be a 5 minute process and keeps you looking sharp.

First of all, your hair is beautiful! Love the curls.

My only suggestion would be to add layers. It looks like you may have some in the back but they should be trimmed up a bit. That'll help a little with volume.

My hair is alot like yours. To get the volume I want, I use gel and scrunch the living heck out of it. Add the gel when your hair is soaking wet and scrunch upside down. Make sure you use enough as all the water dilutes it. You'll have to play around with this to find the right amount.

I also use a diffuser with long teeth (does this make sense?) and use it to lift my top layers for added volume. Diffuse on low/hot setting. I alternate diffusing by lifting and by putting my hair upside down. LOTS of volume. Also, when my hair is almost dry, I scrunch in additional gel. It gives me better curl formation. If your curls come out crunchy you can scrunch out the crunch. It'll all depend on the gel you use.

Don't worry about using Deva products. There are others just as good and 1/4 the price. Also, what other others may recommend for styling products may not work for you. I use Kinky curling custard
https://www.amazon.com/Kinky-Curly-Original-Curling-Custard/dp/B00KJSAT86
and others swear by Eco Style Gel-Olive https://www.amazon.com/ECOCO-Eco-Style-Olive-Ounce/dp/B003E7UNE4/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_194_lp_t_4?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=TJ18SNCBJKDZD98F22B3&th=1

The curling custard is expensive and I use it when I want my curls to look spectacular. Otherwise, I go for a good strong hold gel.

Look at Youtube videos too. There are a bunch out there on getting volume for curly hair.

I find as the seasons change (it's getting warmer around where I am) my skin kinda freaks out and becomes very sensitive, especially the skin around my eyes.

Another commenter mentioned the Kikumasamune, but there's another one that's popular too called Cezanne. There are a lot of reviews on here about both. Hada Labo also makes a moisturizing toner. I think the key point it to layer moisture. So toner, essence, moisturizer.

Also, if you're not using a sunscreen you should get that as well (I can't remember off hand if the AM lotion you're using has SPF).

Also, one guide I like to link a lot is a beginner's guide by Snow White and the Asian Pear. She has a great graphic and examples of each type of product, just to give you a good overview and then you can go from there. I would say it's best to find a blogger that has similar skin concerns to you, because they're going to be your best bet on getting recommendations as they have been there, done that.

Edit: oops!! lol I didn't realize the comment had the same products listed, sorry!

u/tiggerphobia · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

For cut: make sure your hair is longer than that picture then take that picture into your favorite hair stylist and tell them you want that look. A good hairstylist will take that picture as a template and make the look work for your particular hair and head shape.

For styling: you'll want a matte paste/putty. A really popular one is American Crew Fiber, which I've been using for a little while now and has pretty decent hold with low shine. Another popular one is Sumo Tech. I haven't tried that one yet, though I've heard good things and I think it might be a tad shinier if that matters.

As for how to get that look, it's actually remarkably easier than you'd think. Once you have your hair cut the right way it's just a matter of getting out of the shower, drying your hair off, and applying a good amount of your desired product to the hair with your hands. After a little experimenting and practice you'll get good at estimating the right amount you need and figuring out the best technique to get the look you're going for. When starting out, the best thing to do would be to ask your hair stylist to give you as close to that look you pictured as possible for your hair/head shape (remember, it's never going to be exactly like the model in the picture), then ask her/him for tips on how to work the product correctly.

I also have black hair (Italian/Asian descent) and this same thing happened to me when I bleached it the first time...I waited one week to bleach a second time, and I recommend using purple shampoo in the meantime and after your second bleach session to pull the bronzeness (is that a word??) out of your hair. I have used both [Clairol ShimmerLights] (https://www.amazon.com/Clairol-Professional-Shimmer-Lights-Shampoo/dp/B000TBVGBM) and [Davine's Alchemic] (https://www.amazon.com/Davines-Alchemic-Shampoo-Silver-Unisex/dp/B007XNNC7A/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1479483218&sr=1-1&keywords=alchemic+shampoo) both with great results. You'll literally see a difference immediately. I usually wet my hair, and lather and coat the bleached portion in the shampoo and leave it for 30 mins then wash it out and condition as usual (I'm a girl and I know some guys don't condition, but I would recommend it right now since the bleach may have dried out your hair).

I think both sell purple conditioner as well, but this is unnecessary according to a wide variety of professional hairdressers I have spoken to about it. I also agree with the other posters that using a toner is a great idea here, but I would wait until a week or two after your second bleaching session. I use Wella T18 but you should probably stick to a T14 to start out with.

Good luck!! And it really doesn't look that bad :)

I like the Honest Amish Beard balm much more than the Beardology. Its softer and easier to work with. I got the Beardology balm as part of a package thing with the oil. Beardology is closed until after the holidays. In my search for "the perfect beard oil" I found that you can't really go wrong with whatever you pick. There are so many companies, small and large, that make the stuff. You can make it yourself if you're so inclined. Most have jojoba or argan oil as the main oil and then other oils to add scent so it's preference really.

All I can say is read up on what you like or what you think your brothers will like and go from there. You really can't go wrong with most of these beard products.

My best birthday gift ever was my engagement ring, on my 47th.

We had been together for about 16 years, but both being women, had never been able to tie the knot because laws. Then, our state voted it in. Not by the politicians, but by the voters! That was in November, and on my birthday in December, she took me to a nice, romantic dinner followed by time with friends. I liked my birthday just fine, but then she surprised me with the ring. I don't think I even gave her a chance to ask a question before leaping into her arms and crying, "Yes!"

$1.38!. LoL.

Happy slightly early birthday!

I love love LOVE dry shampoo! After the gym I usually blow dry my sweaty hair and then apply dry shampoo to the roots. It can sometimes look a little chalky after applying, so I use my fingers to work it into my hair.

As someone who has thin hair that looks greasy after 24 hours, it's a lifesaver on days when I don't want to wash my hair again.

The only brand I have liked is Batiste in the clean and clear scent. It smells fresh and doesn't have the same icky residue as the other brands. It's amazing!

u/weeeasles · 1 pointr/NoPoo

I am a guy with slightly longer hair, and this is what I do. I only use natural bar soaps, whether for cleaning myself or cleaning my dishes, so I also use it for my hair. However, my hair really only needs to be washed with soap once a week at most (this should help take care of any over-greasyness or odors). Other than that, just rinsing your hair out with water is the bare minimum and will do you just fine.

Then, maybe once a week (maybe on the same day you use soap) rub some apple cider vinegar through your hair, to use as a conditioner. This helps balance the pH of you hair and scalp, allowing your hair to remain nice and soft.

Try using a boar bristle brush, like this one, as they help to distribute the natural oils in your hair, as well as massage the scalp. You can find these types of brushes in many "alternative health" stores, natural beauty shops, or health food groceries like Sprouts.

u/elilili · 1 pointr/curlyhair

You have type 3c or 4a hair, but the photo is kind of blurry.

The Roots Naturelle Virgin Hair Fertilizer Conditioning Treatment is pretty good for growing hair. When I tried it once my hair literally grew overnight, but I also used it with an argan oil condtioner. A lot of people on this sub use that argan oil shampoo, argan oil supposedly grows you hair.

How do you detangle your hair? You should do it wet, with a detangler or leave in. Start at the ends of your hair and slowly work you way up. Kinky Curly makes the best detangler out there IMO, and they also have a hard water shampoo, gel and hair oil.

Mane and Tail Herbal Gro is a cheap hair growing shampoo that's petty popular with people who have curly hair. It works for me just as well as the argan oil shampoo, however it sometimes gives me acne.

Try putting a shower cap on when you sleep. It keeps the moisture from escaping and can help grow you hair. It also keeps your hair from getting messed up, you only need to wash it once every week or once every couple of days. Some people wash with conditioner every couple of days or every week but "clarify" with shampoo once a month.

Also you should check out r/blackhair if you don't already know about that sub. They might be able to help with protective styles and other junk. I'm just assuming you're black because of your use of the term "big chop" which means you hair takes relaxer. I see a lot of people over there transitioning to natural hair. Although admittedly most of the users are teenaged boys asking what a fade is.

Edit: Oh also take some Biotin

My scalp is oily but the rest of my hair is pretty dry, so to avoid drying out the bottom part excessively, after getting in the shower/wetting my hair, I use conditioner on the bottom 3/4 of my hair to protect it while I wash the top 1/4 (then rinse everything out and use conditioner again as normal).

I know silicones get a lot of hate, but I haven't found any silicon-free products that help with my frizz (mostly they just make my hair oily). I use this silicone-based serum from DHC while my hair is wet and brush through using this brush designed for wet hair, then let my hair air-dry. My hair has a shorter chin-length layer in the front that I sometimes blow-dry so it'll lie correctly - in that case, I use a bit of bumble and bumble's Straight Blow Dry, but I don't try to get it pin-straight, just neat enough to be out of my way/not look silly.

I still haven't found a way to keep my hair from frizzing in humidity, but Weather Proof by Big Sexy helps.

Everyone's hair is different, though, and what works for me might not work for you! You might have to experiment a little. I definitely tried and returned a bunch of things at Sephora before I found the b&b Straight Blow Dry (and one of the staff told me to go to ULTA and pick up Weather Proof).

My hair looked just like this when I was a kid, I feel this picture in my very bones. Her hair looks pretty similar to mine, so based on my experience:

  1. The first thing I would recommend is an Olaplex no. 3 treatment. It’s pricey, but you can get it on Amazon, and it’s so worth it. It repairs curl patterns in hair that’s been damaged. Have her wash her hair and while it’s sopping wet, add a literal handful of conditioner. Starting at the ends of her hair, use a wet brush to detangle. It might take a really long time, and handfuls of hair will probably come out. That’s normal. Once her hair is brushed through and detangled, rinse out all of the conditioner. Turn off the water. Brush gobs of olaplex from root to ends, and leave it in for at least ten minutes. It looks like she might want to leave it in for 30-45 minutes.

  2. Rinse out all of the olaplex. Apply another handful of conditioner, brush it through, rinse it about half way out. While in the shower, she should flip her head over and gently scrunch the water out.

  3. LA Looks Extreme Sports Gel is bright blue and you can usually find it at Walmart for super cheap, but I linked it to Amazon below because you can buy in bulk. Flip hair over, scrunch in golf ball sized amount of gel. Repeat. It will seem like an outrageous amount of gel. Use more.

  4. Using a microfiber towel or turbi-twist, or an old T-shirt, plop her hair up for about twenty minutes. The key here is not to stretch her hair out into the twisty part of the towel. You want the hair stay as close to her scalp as possible. Basically lay out the towel and flip head over, slowly lowering the curls onto it so that they coil close to the root.

  5. After about 20 minutes, remove towel, and let her hair air dry the rest of the way. It will be really tempting, but try not to touch it at all. When her whole head is dry and crunchy from the gel, flip hair upside down and gently scrunch-out-the-crunch. Done. Leave it for a few days.

    Hope this helps!

    conditioner

    hair gel, 3 pack

    olaplex

Edit: to be clear, olaplex is a one time treatment. Do it once. The rest of it is do all of the time stuff.
u/power1211 · 2 pointsr/FierceFlow

yeah in short sulfate free shampoo makes it less frizzy and allows the scalp to do its thing naturally (secrete the oils you need at a better rate rather than too much bc of the oil loss). if youre interested in finding out, sulfates are used to make the hair clean but usually dry out the hair follicle. the drying effect makes it so the scalp goes what the fuck and makes too much oil in response. after a week or so of sulfate free shampooing your scalp will be like aight bet and then you can wash your hair less frequently as you will be utilizing the natural oils on your scalp!

Edit: https://www.amazon.com/Shea-Moisture-Raw-Retention-Shampoo-13/dp/B0038TVHGG?th=1 this is the product i use to shampoo. you can find it at walmart for a relatively cheap price and coupled with suave essentials conditioner, goes for a great natural yet cheap routine!

I was the same way, I’d wake up and my face just felt kinda tight. Now that I use a sleeping pack it feels like I have a layer of protection on my face haha

Oh no! I didn’t realize there was fragrance in it. I currently do use the Benton Snail Bee High Content Skin before I put on the Kikumasamune. I personally just feel the Kiku is more hydrating than the Benton. I haven’t tried the Cezanne Lotion, but I’ve heard great things and it is alcohol and fragrance free. It also comes in a big size like the Kiku!

So, I purchase mine from a local AB shop in my area. I actually just happened upon it because I saw that it said “Barrier Repair” on it, which intrigued me, but then I felt the tester and it feels heavenly. It’s like a gel-cream consistency. I paid $18.99 at my local shop, but they have it on Amazon for $20!

Get this product called Nizoral shampoo (linked below), it has ketoconazole in it (you can read up on it) which doctors prescribe similar stronger ketoconazole products to people with excess dandruff that cannot be controlled. Use it like every two or three days for about 6-8 weeks, you can use conditioner every day though. After that, I would recommend a natural shampoo and conditioner that contains a lot different oils such as argan oil.

Also really important, people who shampoo their hair everyday especially with products such as Head & Shoulders which contain ingredients such as sulfate (which is terrible for your scalp, companies just use these ingredients because they are cheap. They couldn't give a sht about what happens to your scalp.) are stripping all the natural oils which your hair/scalp needs at least a little bit of, drying your scalp excessively which also causes dandruff, and also making yourself more prone to baldness. Read up on the no shampoo method which is basically you use shampoo ever two or three days, but you can still use conditioner every day. I've linked a page below if you're interested.

Oh one more thing....
For the love of god, please stop using two in one shampoo and conditioners because it doesn't work! Think about it, shampoo is supposed to strip stuff out while conditioner is supposed to put nutrients back in. How the f
ck can one product do these two things at once. It's obviously just a way for the company to scam you into buying that product because you think you are getting the better deal. Just buy separate shampoos and conditioners, I've linked below the products that I'm currently using if you want some reference. You could buy that or other products that have similar ingredients.

You can ask me any questions if you have some.

So, first and foremost you need to read this sidebar link. The jist of what he is saying is; oil it, trim it, brush it, and condition it.

I use this boars hair brush I got on Amazon. It's great. As he says in that post, brushing it does stimulate the hair follicles and speeds up growth.

Trim it often, but don't use clippers and a guard. You will never get the fullness and beard shape you want if you are using clippers and a guard. Instead use some good barbers shears. Just trim the wild hairs that are cooperating with the direction the rest of your beard wants to grown in. Give it time, your beard will fill in.

Oil & condition. This is really what makes your beard soft and healthy. If you're itchy at all while your growing it out, this will help with that too. Check out our beard care page for more info on different products and what they do (and how to use them). I really like using a beard balm as a leave-in conditioner. If you are looking for stuff to use, I recommend going with kit like this to get started.

Looks like the prescription meds may be your last resort currently, unfortunately.

I like this Shea Moisture brand shampoo. I have pretty hard water, and this shampoo definitely negates some of the effects of it. My hair doesn't feel dry at all now since I began using it.

Also, this sub-reddit has a wonderful product recommendation resource for us all found here. Browse that to see if any other products sound like a good fit for you. Trial & error is the only way to know for sure what will work well for you.

Good luck to you! :)

Oh my god you are fabulous, thank you so much for the information.

I have been buying products at Bleu Libellule and MGC Beauté, (their websites don't list ingredients, it pisses me off), and there are hundreds of pharmacies throughout Paris that carry a lot of beauty products that you won't find in a typical supermarket (Avène, Klorane, La Roche-Posay, René Furterer, Vichy, Bioderma, etc.).

I found the styling gel on Amazon.fr! I found the As I Am products, but they are very expensive (25-37 euros, as opposed to 8.99 USD at Walgreens). The can of Herbal Essences mousse is 46 euros, haha.

I think I will try Aubrey Organics GPB (I found it on French Amazon, too) and a silicone-free conditioner called Timotei here in France. I have a curly-haired friend that has had luck with it.

Thanks so much for your input, that is so nice!

I think you should do 1 person because, while it would be nice to include 4 people, the majority of contests on subs like this opt for smaller prizes. Which is fine, I mean, I shouldn't be spending money anyway let alone buying someone an mp3, but larger prizes are a bit rarer. And, from an item stand point, yes there are plenty of little things you can have on your wishlist that maybe you sorta kinda need, but that bigger item might be something someone actually needs but can't afford, hence the wishlist. So I say, 1 winner.

Same situation as you - thought I had straightish hair most of my life and turns out it is 2B (2A if I don't take good care of it). Here's my routine and products:

  • Wash with Shea Moisture shampoo - sulfate free and very gentle. Leaves the natural oils in my hair so it's shiny and moisturized, but clean looking.

  • Work DevaCurl One Condition into my hair and comb through tangles with my fingers. Then I do the "squish to condish" method to get all the conditioner into my hair and let it sit while I do the rest of my shower stuff. :) The DevaCurl conditioner is pretty expensive, but very worth it to me. It's just so moisturizing and does wonders for my waves.

  • Rinse out with cool water, flip my head upside down and scrunch up my soaking wet hair to get it to form its curls.

  • Scrunch L.A. Looks Gel into my hair, then plop in a t-shirt.

  • Either let my hair air dry or use the pixiecurl method with a diffuser (there are videos of how to do this on youtube). The pixiecurl method can be a bit tedious and give me a bit more frizz, but it also gives my curls way more definition and volume than if I air dry.

Note that the L.A. Looks gel does make hair feel crunchy when it is drying (which I hate the look and feel of), but once it's dry I release the gel hold by scrunching my hair and tossing it around a bit and it looks completely soft and natural. I used to be totally gel-phobic because I hated the crunchy gel look - then I learned you can scrunch the gel hold out of your hair! You get the nice definition that gel gives you and the natural look of something softer like a serum.

He basically told me that most if not all hair products that are made to stay in your hair the entire day will make cause acne on my forehead. Even if it never actually touches the forehead during the application, it'll just seep down. He said the pattern of acne on my forehead specifically was classic in guys that use hair products.

For shampoo I was thinking about switching but I use this deep purple shampoo to keep my dyed hair its silvery blonde color. If I don't use it my hair will get all brassy and orange so not using it is sort of off the table. I know there are sulfate free ones but I was told basically only this shampoo will do the job. I could definitely try it out since it's probably only like like $15 a bottle. I don't know if it matters but I make sure none of the shampoo touches my skin. Even when I wash it off it doesn't touch anything. And my hair is never really in contact with my forehead since I put it up. Again I don't know if it matters since it might just seep down from my hair onto my forehead. Thanks for the advice. I'll ask him on my next appointment about shampoos.

Vaseline and oil cleansing with mineral oil come to mind, and both of these are very unlikely to break you out.

For oil cleansing with mineral oil, at the end of the day, you'd gently massage your face with mineral oil and then wipe it off with a soft washcloth soaked with warm water. This is a very gentle and effective way of cleansing your skin without drying it out! Being gentle and keeping your skin moisturized are key. Ensure you buy 100% mineral oil with no extra ingredients. Check the ingredient lists carefully.

Vaseline is applied before bed, all over the face. Make sure your face is clean when you do this as you don't want to "trap" any debris under the vaseline. Again, check the ingredient list to ensure you're getting 100% petroleum jelly.

Finally, a lot of people breakout on the hair line and near the mouth if their skin is sensitive to sodium laureth sulfate (SLS). SLS is a foaming agent that is often in toothpaste and shampoo. Switching to SLS free shampoo and toothpaste could help, or it might have no effect on your skin, but it can't hurt so I think it's worth a try! This toothpaste is great, and still gets foamy like regular toothpaste. And this shampoo.

You also say you don't wear make-up much, so I'd recommend avoiding it extra until your big day. Avoid putting unnecessary products on your skin.

I see the pics but not sure which brand of brushes those are. But I can vouch for the strength of the Tangle Teezer Ultimate, designed for thick and curly hair. I use this when my (4a) hair is too matted for my fingers to handle.

If that still isn't enough, you could try a denman brush. No chance she'll be breaking it, it's extremely sturdy. In fact the only I reason I don't recommend it first is because it's almost too sturdy, so it doesn't detangle as gently because it doesn't bend as much. Still, some people love it and it does clump curls nicely.

Just checking here - are you detangling while the hair is wet and slick with conditioner? And are you making sure to go section by section, starting from the very ends and working your way up to the roots? Never try to brush from the roots down.

As for the baby hairs in the front....if you can't catch them with a braid because they're too wispy, I would just leave them be or slap a soft head band on the front. They look like baby hairs /edges rather than breakage to me.

Wash Day: Morrocan Curl Cleansing Conditioner

Or, I Co-Wash with Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Moisture balance conditioner. I also prefer the TJ's shampoo when I need to wash my hair to remove product buildup (which I do once every two weeks).

Post wash I use the LOC method to moisturize.

Leave In - Giovanni Direct Leave-In Weightless Moisture Conditioner

Oil - I use my own mixture I created with Peppermint Oil, Tea tree oil, Black Castor Oil, Almond Oil, Avocado Oil and Olive Oil. My hair really loves it.

Cream - I wear my hair in twist outs, the cream I use for my twist outs is the Cantu Conditioning Curl Cream

I retwist my hair once a week (personal preference).. and I use a bit of Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream, but sparingly, as it makes my hair feel slightly crunchy, I only use it in the front for my bangs to curl up very tight when I twist them.

For edge control, I use the Olive Oil Eco Styler gel..

My hair is 4b/4c. Chopped two years ago -now past my shoulders, nearly 16 inches in length. I tried a LOT of products before I found those my hair likes.

Also, I recommend checking out Amazon's Texture's and Hues page. It's for women of color.. and it's AMAZING.

I find that Art Naturals products are great for colored hair, I get the Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner
I have tried so many shampoos in my 42 years, this one is my #1 for color treated. Also I recommend every other week a deep conditioning treatment such as this argan Oil hair mask from Art Naturals. Depending on how often you actually have to shampoo your hair, a colored hair butter treatment can help keep your color peppy in between salon appointments. The only one I have experience with is: Joico Intensity Color Butter - I have a few more products that are awesome that I can't recall off the top of my head. I can look them up later today (4:45am now) when I've had a chance to sleep! Cheers!

A tiny bit of leave-in conditioner can work wonders.

I use this for my crazy hair: https://www.amazon.com/Its-10-Miracle-Product-4-Ounces/dp/B000TKH6G2

I have fine, thin hair, though, but it also is somewhat naturally curly, and additionally is prone to split ends and intense frizziness. But they really recommend it at Beauty Brands when I've gone there, and it also does some protecting things to hair. Having thin hair means I use barely a squirt of it, so with as much hair as you have, you'll probably need to use more than me. They have sample sizes and stuff at some salons. The one I have was gifted to me by a friend who doesn't use it but got it for free.

Agar agar powder. [US](https://www.amazon.com/Telephone-Product-Thailand-Powder-Ounce/dp/B01KMHY2OU/) [Europe](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Special-Ingredients-Premium-Gelatine-European/dp/B00EZMPMNE)

Always start with agar! And don't throw old fully colonized plates out. Some contaminants (e.g. mycogone, AKA wet bubble disease will only show up after full colonization (white blobs oozing yellow/orange fluid). and that one (mycogone) will fck up your grow hard, been there done that...

They also have [430ml jars](https://www.flaschenbauer.de/einmachglaeser/sturzglaeser/sturzglas-430-ml-to-82) suitable as substrate containers

A pressure cooker. Good ones are a b**ch to find in Europe. I wouldn't buy [that one](https://www.ebay.de/itm/Pressure-cooker-17L-Stainless-steel-Made-In-Turkey-Largest-Size/133128864948) or similar constructed ones, they are complete s**t, build up next to no pressure and need ungodly amounts of water. I have two of them, but had to do some haphazard MacGyveresqe hacking to get them to sterilize properly, I'll bring that up later.

I also have a Fagor Alu 22 (22 liters, fits eleven quart bottles), but I think that model went out of production in 2017 without a replacement. IMHO the only sane option in Europe right now, would be to order a Presto from the US, they're ~80€ + 40€ shipping, so not that bad. [Presto 23 quart PC](https://www.amazon.com/Presto-Aluminum-23-Quart-Pressure-Canner/dp/B073NCFL2L/)

Also on US websites like shroomery, you'll always read something like "sterilize 90min @ 15 psi". Pressure cookers in Europe usually have no gauges and only go to 50-70 kPa (~7-10 psi). It isn't as bad as it sounds, since sterilization time isn't linear with pressure/temperature. I've found I can get away with 120 min sterilization time for grains, 75 min for PF sub and 30 min for agar.

A rack to elevate your agar dishes while you do transfers, like these that come with microwave ovens (contaminants tend to collect on the SABs bottom).

A slightly wet towel to put the SAB on. Some people disagree on this, I use the towel to absorb the sprayed soap/water mix and not having that run off the table.

A clear box that's modified as a SAB. I use this one as a SAB, maybe they ship outside Germany. More clear boxes used to fruit bottles (basically a monotub, just with individual substrate containers). I use these as unmodded monos (no holes, no flipped lid, lids not latched): https://www.obi.de/aufbewahrungsboxen/obi-allzweckbox-cadiz-l-mit-4-rollen-transparent/p/1930387.

The Ordinary is great. I also highly recommend an Asian style hydrating toner; put it on after any actives and before your moisturiser. Has really helped my dry dry skin retain moisture better.

They're often cheap as chips for a huge bottle off Amazon if you don't mind waiting a week or so; I have had great results from Cezanne skin conditioner: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00RWMHTU8/

Btw, since the pump dispenser is messy, I usually fill a couple of little travel size spray bottles. Much easier to use if you spritz your face a couple of times; it's also so cheap I use it after a shower as a body moisturiser.

This Gorgeous headband would definitely make me smile! I love all the little girly hair accessories since I can't wear regular earrings or costume jewelry.

I'm horrible in these same situations and my SO's family is the exact same way! They will badger me for months asking me for christmas lists and birthday lists! I always default to things I need vs. things I want because needs are easier to be specific with. Or if you go out and browse one day just take note(or take pics with your phone, makes it so much easier to remember!) of the things you come across that you like, maybe that one special thing that you've been eyeing for a long time that you never indulged in yourself because of the price?

u/xraigekoux · 2 pointsr/Pomade

I haven't personally tried Murray's, but everything I've heard about it seems like it isn't a joy to use. There are oil based pomades out there that are much easier to apply. I could be wrong, but it seems like you'd need to break down the pomade more into your hands before you apply it on your hair. Making sure you have a little moisture (possibly towel dried) may also contribute to a more pleasant application experience. Lastly, make sure to evenly comb the pomade into your hair. I noticed a lot of people on YouTube like to use a Denman Brush to evenly distribute the pomade before they actually style.

u/youngbridget · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

I ditched shampoo with sulfates (I've been using this stuff) and that helped a lot.

I shower, wash my hair (every couple of days) or just wet it down, and then comb it and put in whatever product you prefer, I've been using the curl enhancing smoothie from the same folks as the shampoo. I wrap it up in a t shirt or a microfiber towel and get the excess moisture out, and then I put it up on top of my head in a scrunchie and sleep on it. Let it down in the morning and thats it! Its pretty big when I let it down, it takes like half an hour to an hour to calm down.

I love it! Simple and easy are important to me.

Ok first thing: in the future, if the image you're posting isn't interesting without the context of the reddit post, you shouldn't post it to the public Imgur page. There's an option to keep it off the public page and make it so only people sent directly through the link will view it. Imgur users get seriously butthurt when posts don't make sense for their own frontpage because you were just hosting images for a reddit post, and they're a toxic cesspool of humanity so their comments get nasty real quick for no reason.

Now on to the advice.

Do you trim the top of your beard down that low? If you do, stop doing that, let the top hairline grow in naturally. It's way too low. If you don't, and that really is as high as it gets... I hate to say it, but you should shave it off. Or trim it all the way down to a light scruff/shadow, if you really like the fact that it might make you look a tiny bit older. It's just that right now, your beard only seems to grow underneath your jawline, and it's just not a good look. Also it's not growing in on middle of your upper lip, and with your hair being as dark as it is, holes like that are glaringly apparent.

Now for the hair on top. You and I have extremely similar looking hair, besides the color. I think it looks good the way it is, if you just go in and get the ears/neck cleaned up every 2 weeks. Also work on taming that cowlick, or just give the rest of your hair up top a little more messiness to disguise the cowlick. My stylist cleans up my ears and neck for free between cuts, if you build a relationship with one stylist you might be able to negotiate the same deal.

BUT since you asked for a new cut, this is a look that works well for our hair type. You need to put product in it every day--I recommend a water-based pomade--and preferably blow-dry to give it volume. But it can be a really clean look with just enough edge to show you have style. The easiest way to get the barber to cut it like this is show the picture, but to ask for it in words you could say:

"1 to 1 1/2 inches on top, with texture. Taper on the sides and back down to a 2 at the bottom. Blend it so there are no hard lines between the top and sides."

u/AlexaviortheBravier · 3 pointsr/ftm

No problem.

I had some issues where I kept changing something in it and messing all my progress up. Been doing much better now that I realized I was the problem. Seems like a lot in writing, but it really isn't much.
__
AM:

  • Wash hands

  • Wash face with Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser gently using kojac sponge

  • Pat dry with washcloth

  • Apply Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera with a cotton square/circle

  • After shaking to mix, pat on CeraVe Moisturizing Cream to which I had previously added almost .5 fl oz/15mL of 100% pure tea tree oil. (I think I read that it should be no more than 10% tea tree oil.) Last time I used Now tea tree oil but I have also used Jason.

  • Wait a while and sunscreen before going out, added to help scarring. Not sure if the one I had been using was good for my skin though so I won't put a brand here.

I mainly use the kojac sponge because it cuts down on me picking the flacky skin off my face which tended to be the gateway to me picking acne or peeling off scabs.

    __

    PM:

(I do my face wash last step in the shower even though places tend to recommend against it because of the heat; if I turned up the heat a lot during my shower, I turn it down to wash my face. It seemed to me that I used more heat in the sink after showering since my hands can stand heat better than the rest of my body.)

  • Wash face and neck with Hado Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam (Harsher so I prefer it at night.)

  • Pat dry with towel before drying any other part of my body. (I go face, hair, upper back, rest of me and don't lay a towel on my back after showering since that seemed to cause acne.)

  • Apply Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera with a cotton square/circle

  • After shaking to mix, pat on Differin Gel

  • Pat on same CeraVe Moisturizing Cream as above to face and neck.

    __
    Shower details:

I use shampoo/conditioner that doesn't contain sulfates. I know my one friend realized that sulfates in her shampoo were likely what was causing her back to break out. I use this which is expensive but it lasts me a year even though I tend to overuse it.

I also wash in the following order: shampoo, conditioner (leave in), private areas with water, wash my hands with my body soap (Dr. Bronner's), then my shoulders/back before any other part since that seemed to cut down on back acne as well. Last, in order, I wash my armpits, groin (not the inside of genitals, I mean my groin pit?? [Where my leg bends] I cover my genitals to keep soap out of that area.), feet. Then I rinse out the conditioner and do my face wash routine.

Edit: Also forgot to mention that I avoid letting soap sit on my skin. Trial and error seems to show that that causes me to breakout as well so I rinse it off as I go.

I don't change my pillowcase every night but I flip them. I have two pillows I sleep on and I sleep once on each before changing the pillowcase.
    ____

I would definitely recommend changing one thing or adding one thing at a time and patch testing if you can.
    __

ETA: If your acne is severe, I'd still recommend a dermatologist when you can go. Or maybe talking to your primary doctor even. My HRT prescriber, for my acne, prescribed me Doxycycline and Tretinoin at one point. I don't use either, currently, but you can try using a non-dermatologist if you don't have any other option.

    Edit2: Clarified some minor things.

Most glass cleaners are ok. You still can't be sure if the one you have contains any aggressive chemicals that will mess with the coating. So I wouldn't use them.

Get a spray bottle (or use an empty one you have at home), fill it with one third 70% isopropyl alcohol and two thirds distilled water. Both are available everywhere in supermarkets, hardware store, etc.
Distilled water so it won't leave any residue (normal water has minerals and stuff), and isopropyl alcohol so it'll dry very fast. It's ok to clean screen with this. Some TV manuals say that you shouldn't clean it with alcohol, but they're talking about pure rubbing alcohol.
Get a microfiber cloth, spray a bit on the screen or cloth, then wipe the screen. Be careful at first, if there's a lot of dust you might add micro-scratches if it's plastic (not an issue on the MBP glass screens).
You can use this bottle to clean screens, windows, mirrors, etc.

edit If theres fingerprints or other stuff on the screen, add a bit of kitchen soap to the bottle. Best make another bottle. This too can be used everywhere in the house. You could also add some pure citric acid so it smells nice.

Thank you!

Well, my hair was colored back in February to get rid of the highlights I had. She colored it to my natural color. So when we started bleaching my hair, we had to do two whole days of bleaching. Here it is after one bleach and here's after two. Then, a week later, we put toner in it. The first bleach took about 4 hours to do. The second one we did the next day and it took another 4 hours. The toner took about 30 minutes. My hair is really long and thick. I used this shampoo for the first few weeks, but now I'm using this shampoo to keep it really blonde. :) Hope that helps!

u/GherkinJerkin · 3 pointsr/AskTrollX

Blue bleach might be a tad bit better but I think most of the results will come from a toner. I've used both kinds of bleach on my hair before and either way I still ended up fairly coppery. Toner makes the biggest difference.
There's also some shampoo that's made for people with naturally white/grey hair as hard water can sometimes make hair turn coppery. It's hard to find but beauty supply stores should have at least one option. It'll help gently take out some of the copper as well as keep his hair from turning due to water quality.

I use the Dr Eddie’s Happy Cappy Medicated Shampoo and it keeps my scalp 100% in check. It has 0.95% zinc pyrithione, which actively helps against SD and has 0 ingredients which could potentially make SD worse (unlike Head & Shoulders or Nizoral for example). SD is associated with funghi so it makes sense to use products from this list of products that are safe for "fungal acne", where I got the recommendation from. The author also mentions that he uses and loves the Happy Cappy Shampoo.

u/CookinWI · 1 pointr/beards

I got everything from Amazon.

Brush

Comb

Balm

As far as oil vs. balm, I use (or will be using) both. The oil I use everyday after I shower in the morning. This helps moisturize the hair and the skin underneath. The Balm, however, I will only be using when I wish to "clean up" my beard. I have thicker hair and a good portion of that hair doesn't really like to cooperate. So in my case, I'm using the balm as a styling product. It'll give a little weight to the hair and help reign in those finniky pieces.

Most people use some combination of both products, it just depends on the look you're going for. That being said, people with longer beards tend to use just oil unless going for a specific style because the weight of their beard is often enough to keep the hair growing in the same direction.

Does that answer your question? Do you have any more?

self-employed hairdresser at private salon (no boss) here:

actually, a hairdresser that i share a shampoo room with likes "It's a 10" i've been using their spray-in detangler.

other than that, i use and recommend Senscience made by Shiseido. it's really hard to find, really expensive on line, unless you can find it on special. i only drive to BFE to get it for my clients because they love it, when it's on special (making it almost half the price)

get a vent brush, the kind with painted tips of the bristles, and when it's still wet, after toweling it dry, brush the ends first, brushing higher and higher till it's brushed out.

u/prettyslattern · 1 pointr/amiugly

I think that's a very good start. I always love it when you can see a little texture and messiness to a guy's hairstyle. When it's too short, it looks a little uptight. I'd recommend this product for anyone with a textured hairstyle that they'd like to shape a bit without being hard and sticky like gel: http://www.amazon.com/struct-Pliable-Molding-Creme/dp/B000GX57BI :)

Apologies if you've already gotten this advice, but I highly recommend Clairol's Shimmer Lights! I have platinum blonde hair right now and it keeps it nice and brass-free and also does not contain any red dyes as far as I'm aware. I get mine at Sally Beauty Supply, but you can also order it on Amazon!

I am just always interested in seeing everyone's routines. (Plus I think it's in the rules to post routine? Either way, it is helpful all around.)

I'm still trying to learn my hair myself. But something I know that helps a lot of people is clipping your roots for volume. (If volume is something you like anyway.)

Denman brushes are also popular for brushing in the shower. Supposed to help with curl definition. (I'm still learning so mine is trial & error..)

u/Captain_Finley · 2 pointsr/femalehairadvice

I use shimmering lights.
https://www.amazon.com/Clairol-Professional-Shimmer-Lights-Shampoo/dp/B000TBVGBM it does really well for me and if I leave it on for a little too long it leave a very soft lavender color which I enjoy but you may not. I usually condition my hair..use that shampoo and then conditioner another time and it hasn’t dried out my hair too much. I would recommend a good leave in conditioner.
If you’re thinking of a color difference I would just recommend you have a toner put in your hair to also help get rid of the brassy(if you do not like the look)

Other people I know who have used Paul M has said it was god awful for drying out their hair. So you’re not alone!

My daughter has super curly, thick crazy hair and it works great! You need both shampoo and conditioner. And only shampoo hair twice or once a week if the hairs really dry.

Also you should use a leave in conditioner too. I just use my hair stuff on my daughter this is what I use. https://www.amazon.com/Its-10-Haircare-Miracle-Product/dp/B000TKH6G2

and we have used this leave in too when she was younger and it worked well too. I just stopped buying because using mine was easier.

Olaplex is a miracle product!! If you color yourself, you can use Olaplex No.1 mixed in with your bleach, color, or toners. Then there are rinse products they have (Olaplex No.2) for after the color is processed. Essentially, it's a bond multiplier- which helps protect your hair during/after the coloring to limit the damage that's done by processing.
Personally, I don't mess with Olaplex No.1 or 2 at home just because I get my color done at a salon. BUTTT- I would say if you're interested in trying the product you can start with Olaplex No.3, which is an at home treatment off of Amazon
I am not a stylist myself, but my roommate is and she's the reason I'm able to have blond, curly, and long-ish (getting there thanks to Olaplex) hair. I also second R&B as an additional conditioning product :)

If you've got a screen top, covering it partially/mostly can really help increase humidity.

Having a larger water dish (wider/longer, not deeper) can also increase your humidity reasonably well - the more surface area, the more of it evaporates.

If you do get a dripper (or another electric humidity controller such as a fogger), there are thermostats that can control both temperature and humidity levels. Example (I'm not necessarily endorsing that one - I don't own it or anything).

If you don't want to spend money on an automated solution, get a little spray bottle and mist the viv as needed. Example.

For the hair, I recommend di:fi di:struct. Its a cream, not a wax/gel/glue. Girls like hair that is styled but doesn't look hard. The cream helps it maintain shape throughout the day, doesn't get all crusty/flaky, doesn't look/feel hard and it also washes out easily (keeps hair healthy), unlike the other products.

Its a small jar, but you don't need a lot, it will last you a good while if you add a dab of water to it when you put it in your hair. Also, get your hair wet, style, blow dry to get the shape. Then put in the product.

u/succubamf · 5 pointsr/butchlesbians

It's going to depend on what style you want! Most products are categorized by two parameters: hold and shine. For example, if you want high shine you're going to look at things like pomades and/or gels. Hair gel is usually high shine and high hold (think those punk rock spikes or the spiked up hair that was popular in the 90s) while things like fiber and cream can give you various types of hold with a low shine or matte look.

What kinds of products have you started looking at? I personally use the Gatsby Moving Rubber line (the green one) but a good beginner product is American Crew Fiber. It has good hold, matte finish, it's fairly cheap and can be found in any drug store.

u/PuffMama764 · 1 pointr/curlyhair

Eco Style Gel is pretty good about not going crunchy. You have to way too much on for it to crunch and even if you do just spray some water on it and scrunch it a bit and it will soften. I love this gel :)

u/ForMyOneLife · 5 pointsr/curlyhair

Thanks! It’s a styling brush that’s become quite popular for curlies

Amazon Link Here

I picked it up at a drug store, it’s pretty easy to find.

As for my twisting method, I brush through sections with the Denman brush, curving as I get to the end, the. scrunching/shaking out each section for a good uniform curl. That gives me shrinkage more than anything. Then, starting at the top of my hair, I take a section, fairy small, about 3-5 curls, put the brush in at my roots, and then brush down the hair, twisting as I go.

Today I did it with my fingers, which is essentially the same thing, just taking 3-5 curls and twisting them (fairly tightly but loose enough that as they dry they poof out to about double the diameter) down to the ends.
Tutorial Here

I do mine tighter than the girl in the video but that is the technique. As I said in my routine, then I air dried but I can diffuse these twists too.

Hope this helped! :)

u/WildlingWoman · 4 pointsr/femalehairadvice

Olaplex no. 3 if you have some cash to burn. It's usually given to clients after a bleach treatment. I bleach at home, and use it like I would if I were in a salon. Olaplex is new and (through some science and magic) really helps blondes keep their hair strong.

If you want a cheaper option (which still excellent) get a protein or ion treatment to throw on as a last step. I've used this brand because they're really cheap and I get two uses out of one package. This always makes my hair bouncy and strong again after a treatment.

u/peter_n · 2 pointsr/AsianMasculinity

The first thing to know is that there isn't really anything over the counter that is going to combat thinning hair. So don't fall for any "hacks" or "home remedies" to thicken hair. If you're concerned about your hair thinning/possibly balding, I recommend seeing a trichologist (head and scalp doctor). They can figure out why your hair is thinning.

One of the most important things you can do is not wash your hair so often. Shampooing too often strips your hair of natural oils, making it weaker. While washing often doesn't make your hair thin faster, it's a good practice for anyone (thin hair or not)

My first recommendation is to stop washing your hair with any type of shampoo and see how long it takes before it gets really oily. You'll know when your hair starts to feel greasy, kinda heavy, your head gets a little warm.

Then make a note of how long that is (say it's 4 days), and start washing your hair every 4 days with a light shampoo that doesn't have harsh chemicals, like this one. Most people use way too much shampoo. You want to squeeze about an amount of a quarter.

Then use lighter hair products. Since your hair is thin, it doesn't have the structure to support heavy products. My favorite products are Sumo tech and Gatsby Moving Rubber. Always use a little (dime size) amount and work it into your hair. If you need more, do it 1 or 2 more times. This is to evenly distribute the product vs going in for a big clump on the first shot.

u/bobby_g · 5 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Yeah, I use a combination of Bumble & bumble Sumotech which keeps the hair really natural looking (it's kind of expensive though, which stinks), American Crew Fiber, and just regular gel.

And this is kind of a new look for this cut, usually I keep it up more, like this which involves alot of the Sumotech.

Hope this helped!

u/Rafnel · 2 pointsr/teenagers

Yeah I blow dry my hair and then rub a dime sized amount of this into my hair and gel the front up and that's about it. Takes a couple minutes, but pretty easy.

/r/NoPoo !!!

I use Shea Moisture raw shea butter moisture retention shampoo once a week after steaming my hair in coconut oil for moisture. My hair used to be sooo dry and now it has texture, body and super waves that will curl nicely if I let it. You are looking at day 4 nopoo hair in the pics..

disclaimer: this just happens to be my personal hair profile. Do not go no poo expecting the same results. Also, the transition period sucks and lasts about 6 weeks. I think my best outcome was learning about sulfates and silicones and removing both from my hair care routine. I also stopped flat ironing and blowdrying, but I seriously have too much time on my hands and not everybody can spend an hour each morning with wet hair and hoping it'll dry into a manageable shape.

u/TooManyJohnLees · 1 pointr/AsianMasculinity

I like the haircut that you've attached. Also, I know how hard it is to style hair like yours so I am going to offer you a game changer. Use this [American Fiber - Hair styling creme] (https://www.amazon.com/American-Fiber-Pliable-Molding-Ounces/dp/B0007CXWC4/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1487719676&sr=8-4&keywords=mens+hair+styling+american+crew).

I use it every day and it works with very stiff hair that sticks up like yours. How do I know? Because I have the same kind of hair. I always hated my hair until i found styling creme. This is the best brand I've discovered so far

Also, as a tip, just in case you aren't sure of how to talk your barber about how to get that hairstyle, just ask for a #2 on the sides and back, straight cut up for the sides, and longer on the top and front.

Here's also a good reference for talking to your barber:

I have a v2.1 w/ a glass bed and I have no issues at all w/ aquanet hairspray.

Now when you say you've tried hairspray, was is the OG aquanet hairspray exactly like This? I spray down the glass lightly and that'll last me a good 5-10prints. And since I'm printing w/ petg my first layer height is a little on the high side and I still don't have any adhesion issues.

If that was the exact hairspray you used then the only thing I can think of is using a strong cleaner to make sure that your glass doesn't have any residue that's keeping your prints from sticking.

Also from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Happy-Cappy-Seborrheic-Dermatitis-Clinically/dp/B07857W8MS). This product doesn't work as well as the ketoconazole wipes but if your fungal acne is mild this shampoo might be enough to curb it. I really hope these products work for you!

I have fine frizzy hair as well, and i live in a hot and humid city!

I wash my hair every other day. On wash days, I towel dry, use L'Oreal Botanicals Camila Disciplining Cream and spritz a little Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturising Sea Salt spray. If I really want to enhance my curls, I scrunch my hair up with a little Kevin Murphy Motion Lotion - it is pricey, but works really well with my hair. I leave my hair down and let it air dry, takes about 20-30 minutes.

On no wash days, I use Batiste dry shampoo. I have black hair and they have a brunette tinted one which works really well for my hair. Then I usually style my hair into a ponytail or a high bun.

This gives me good variety in terms of how I wear my hair, and is much less hassle than blowdrying, etc.

Trim your neck line up. Make everything neat and uniform. I'd recommend a decent boars hair brush. As lloydthedroid said you can get one for around 4 bucks but from my experience I'd say go for one a bit better then that. I like this one. It's solid enough for normal use but soft enough that it doesn't tug or pull too bad like cheaper brushes I've used.

that just seems to be the drawback with gels... gets all crunchy and looks like dandruff when it breaks apart and of course you gotta wash it off with something like shampoo which is a huge no-no. I've only used a few gels but this one gave a softer appearance without too much crunch ECCO. You can find them at Sally's beauty supply also, and it has to be the olive oil one. I tried one that was clear and it sucked.

u/caridal94 · 2 pointsr/Hair

Actually, you might be able to wash less. There's a really great dry shampoo that works like a charm. I've got very oily hair myself and used to have to wash mine every other day, but now I've been able to start washing every three days instead due to this stuff. So here, it might work for you.

Also, try a satin pillowcase and try a deep conditioning type of treatment at least once a week. That will definitely help. Make sure you are using a wide tooth comb to brush, and try not to brush hair too vigorously as this will stretch your hair out and cause stress and damage.

I have very thick, very straight hair.

I currently use Bumble and Bumble Sumo Tech (http://www.amazon.com/Bumble-Sumo-Tech-1-5-Ounce-Jar/dp/B000BIUGTQ), but this clearly does not do the job. I apply it after blow drying, after conditioning my hair.

Any advice on how to keep the back of my head down? Or any advice to knew styles that would fit my face. I feel like the the back of my head completely undermines what I'm trying to accomplish.

This stuff is pretty good

As far as the hairloss, just make due for now. Technology should get better over the next few years. There is also the option of beard transplants which is cheaper and less demanding than a hair transplant if you are a high norwood. Just exercise, eat right, and relax. You can also try minoxidil or Finasteride. The latter has some side effects though, so be wary.

u/tangbang · 2 pointsr/goodyearwelt

I just use my regular Lexol mixed with some water in a little spray bottle I got off amazon. I don't think this is the exact one I use, but I use something like this. Just find a conditioner that you personally deem to be environmentally friendly enough, and the entire mixture should be environmentally friendly. (Water usage isn't going to cause any environmental harm) I think a lot of the spray conditioners are aersol based, which could release some nasty chemicals into the air. This is just a little spritzer bottle which won't do that.

u/Filthybiped · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

Much better solution is a little spray bottle full of water put on the mist setting. Spray your clothes with a light mist before or after you put them on. It dries super quickly and wrinkles are gone. It's like goddamn magic I swear.

Stratia LG

And lots of asian beauty options:

Kikumasamune Sake Skin Lotion High Moist (it's a toner, amazon), emulsion (light liquid cream, amazon) or cream, amazon; Mebika moisture lotion (toner), Rosette ceramide gel, Dr. Jart+ ceramide products (there are balm, cream, toner), Cezanne High Moist Lotion (toner, amazon), Meishoku Ceracolla lotion, milk, or gel on amazon, Holika Holika Good Cera toner, emulsion and Cream

Tons of reviews on /r/AsianBeauty

I've tried LG, Kiku emulsion, Cezanne and Dr Jart ceramidin Liquid. They are all light but moisturizing, but get the job done. Never tried Cerave though, so can't compare. But they all should be lighter then Cerave oitment for sure.

u/kmillns · 2 pointsr/AskReddit

Depends what you're doing with it and what type of hair you have, but for me, I've found that a rough paste or wax is what works best and has been recommended by stylists. I'm partial to Bumble and Bumble Sumotech (which is expensive) and Joe Grooming texture paste (which is slightly less expensive, but not as easy to find).

Thanks for the feedback!

Currently I'm using the American Crew Fiber which is labeled as a creme, but it has more of a wax feel to me.

Here's a link to it on Amazon, but you might find a better deal on it elsewhere if you do choose to get it.

I agree with /u/HaxtesR, something to style your hair would be most beneficial. But the DevaCurl products are quite expensive over here so you might wanna experiment with different types of stylers before you spend so much money on it in case your hair doesn't like it. Or see if you can find one of their travel kits.

Some cheap things to experiment with are:

Boots Curl Creme

Umberto Gianni Scrunching Jelly

EcoStyler Gel -There are smaller and bigger sizes of this available.

Also have a look on http://shop.britishcurlies.co.uk/ to see if theres anything you think better suit your needs. They carry quite a few brands.

I used to use Tea Tree for several years, but then moved on to using D:fi's Molding Creme! It's cheaper ($20 for 5.3 oz) and has a stronger hold than Tea Tree's. Like Tea Tree's, it'll give your hair a matte look but keeps your hair very soft and dry.

u/The_sad_zebra · 3 pointsr/malehairadvice

"It's a 10" is a favorite brand of many. I used it for a while and loved it until I decided I wanted to do something different with my hair.

Should be able to find it in probably any store's hair section.

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Retention Shampoo is amazing. My hair almost feels conditioned after using it, yet very clean.

u/KoruMatau · 2 pointsr/malehairadvice

You might want to give this a try. It's a really firm, gritty hold but it's completely matte. You only need to use like half a dime's worth for a solid hold. One jar lasts me a year or so.

Heat that bed up. 90c or so should work.

Hairspray + 90c bed works great for ABS for me. Have to actually let it cool before I can pop it off.

Also, which hairspray are you using? I tried one that only sorta worked, then moved to the "standard" Aqua Net:

This seems to be only concept art sadly.

There are a few brushes with different solutions to cleaning hair though:

$15 - Retractable Brush:

$11 - Disassemblable Brush:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00197623M

As for the concept art, it is a design by Juhyun Lee. It is called "Easy Comb".

The It's a 10 line of products is fantastic for dry, damaged hair. I use the shampoo, the hair mask, and the leave-in. I can't rave enough about how well it's rescued my hair!

u/wildusername · 2 pointsr/FancyFollicles

Not the person who commented but as a fellow chameleon I totally recommend Olaplex - it used to be a salon-only product but they've released Olaplex 3 as a D2C product and it's fucking incredible. I lost about 6 inches of hair last month after a nasty chemical haircut (I went from pink to orange and then back to green, it was too much haha) and this shit has brought my fancy follicles back to life!
I'm in NZ but if you're US-based you can get it on Amazon here.
Good luck!

There are deals on Bioderma, Vichy, and LRP. For hair, I'm also getting Olaplex.

u/nmyunit · 1 pointr/malegrooming

my go-to (for similar purposes) is bumble & bumble sumotech. smells DELICIOUS.

u/mightymollyn7 · 2 pointsr/Hair

I would use this site to find a salon in your area that has olaplex. The cheapest price it should be for the service is $30 with out blow drying or styling. If you don't have a salon near you carrying olaplex i would go into the salon appointment with coconut oil in your hair, I personally use it before bleaching and have seen that it damages my hair less. You can also buy olaplex on amazon for $26 but it is used for after bleaching like a leave in conditioner. Since your hair is dark brown, the hair dresser may have to bleach your hair in several sessions to maintain the integrity of you hair. This may leave your hair an orangey shade until your next bleaching session. It will probably cost you around $300 or more if you want silver hair that will turn out healthy and shiny. You can always diy silver hair at home but it may leave your hair damaged and the color may look dull.
Edit: you should also try leaving coconut oil in your hair as a mask once a week to help repair it and keep it shiny.

u/aprilynn · 2 pointsr/FancyFollicles

Thank you! I actually do not I just use a regular brush that looks like this blow dry in small sections and brush the hair upwards as I'm doing it.

u/CrUcialCSGO · 1 pointr/malehairadvice

I'd say pick up a diffuser nozzle for your blow dryer to give you more control over your hair styling.

For product, it depends on your hair type. If you have thicker hair, you may want to try American Crew Fiber. It's high hold and a matte finish at a great price. If you have finer or medium hair (not thin), like me, I'd recommend the American Crew Forming Cream. It is medium hold and medium shine, but it's just slightly more shine than the fiber for my hair type (medium thickness, blond hair). The forming cream also allows for a more "natural" feel as if you layer it correctly, you can hardly tell it's there.

u/gngstrMNKY · 1 pointr/rawdenim

I've been using D:fi for about 10 years and it continues to be awesome. It can provide a lot of hold while still appearing totally matte. For maximum matte-ness, put it in towel-dry hair, let it dry completely, and then run your fingers through it to get rid of the wet look.

u/hey-there-reddit · 5 pointsr/curlyhair

Denman Cushion Brush Nylon Bristles, 7-Row https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00197623M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_asU8BbMVG9AM0

It’s a customizable brush made specially for curly hair. You use it on wet hair to help distribute your product and it promotes clumping and curl definition.

u/jollibhe · 12 pointsr/curlyhair

I use Shea Moisture Raw Shea Retention Shampoo. I shampoo every few weeks.

I tried Yes to Carrots Shampoo. I found later that it has Sodium Coco Sulfate and though it's a milder type of sulfate I decided to stop using it. There are sulfate-free alternatives anyway. I wanted to see if the top and back of my hair improves. I think it did as I saw less frizz, though that could be due to the other products I'm using and not necessarily the change in shampoo.

u/atomiclolz · 12 pointsr/HaircareScience

The Wet Brush is amazing for everyday use.

But as far as styling, I prefer something with straight bristles without caps and a metal or ceramic base because that heats up to decrease drying time and increase styling power.

u/meqek · 2 pointsr/blackladies

I swear by my Denman Brush. But, I've found it works best if my hair is wet and I'm brushing product through it.

u/nervousgrandma · 1 pointr/BlackHair

I love Design Essentials. I have red ends on my hair so those bits are dryer than the rest of my hair. This hair masque by Shea Moisture leaves my hair looking so juicy after I rinse it out. I use the Almond and Avocado leave in conditioner always. For any style I do including braid outs or wash n gos, I always use Curl Stretching Crème and Eco Styler Gel. Throughout the week to refresh or moisturize, I’ll either add oil (I’d link it but they don’t make it anymore) or spray some water and add a little bit of leave in conditioner.

My hair is also low porosity, so even though we have a similar texture what works for me may not work for you. After experimenting for a year I finally found a regimen that works for me :)

u/norwoodgolf · 2 pointsr/lockpicking

Here is the trick. Get some aerosol hairspray and put a light coat on the metal handle. The grip will slide right on. Let it dry overnight and the grips will be more secure than if you managed to slide them on without the hairspray.

This stuff or something like it: http://www.amazon.com/Aqua-Net-Unscented-Aerosol-Spray-11/dp/B002K33AFM

You can find Cezanne skin conditioner here. If you haven't ordered from Amazon Japan before, it's very easy - here's a review. They take care of Japanese customs for you, and pack your items very well. That's where I found the Rosette Gel too.

And no problem! You can also search the Holy Grail Megathreads for recs.
