First of, excellent choice of RV and truck.

I love my Andersen Magnetic Jack Blocks. You have the 6 point auto-leveling system from Lippert (Ground Control 3.0 I reckon) so you just attach these jack blocks to the round feet magnetically so you never have to 'center' the blocks when leveling.

LevelMate Pro is another item I have that I love. You can check if your level, side to side before even detaching. It's a must have as I shave a good 5-10 mins each time I setup and I'm always 100% perfectly level.

Purchase a Kingpin Lock for when your RV isn't hooked up to the truck so no one can steal it.

Purchase a regular lock to replace the lock pin on your 5th wheel hitch to prevent people from unhooking your RV when you're stopped. Yes, it's happened.

Consider getting the Furrion observation camera. Your RV is already pre-wired for it so it's crazy easy to install.

Which surge protector did you get? Progressive Industries makes really good units and they're quite popular.

Enjoy!

There are dollies (I have also heard them called skates) that some places use to move cars around.

These make it so you don't have to run the car with exhaust, noise and tire marks inside buildings/showrooms. This also allows you to position it in places that would be tougher or perhaps impossible to drive to. You can push the vehicle horizontally and you can spin it around in place. It would be time-consuming and a bit of work for the crew, but this would be my guess as to how they solved this problem. Have a few sets of those dollies, and have a few teams push the cars around in different areas.

It is also possible that these dealerships have things that are even better and easier nowadays. It has been over 10 years since I worked at the dealership, so it is possible things have gotten better. Also, I am sure this Porche dealership has more money than the Ford dealership I worked for. So they can afford to spend more money to move their more expensive cars.

I have one exactly like the one you linked. Works great. Best $10 tool I ever bought. Never had an issue with it not working.

I have one of the cheap Harbor Freight 5-ton floor jacks. I've had it for 8 years and it just broke on me a few days ago. Not bad for a $60 jack that I use all the time.

I've decided to upgrade to this one, because it'll come in handy with my tractors and John Deere Gator:

TSC has the same jack for $150 right now, but less than $130 with free shipping is better. ;-)

I do a lot of my own maintenance, and I had a craftsman jack for a while, but I just got this thing, and it is far and away 100 times nicer than that pile of shit I used to use. Avoid the jack stands with the lever you pull up to lower or raise the holds. These are much safer.
OTC jack with 2 stands
Pricey? Yep. Will it last? Most likely. Is it easy to use and pretty fucking cool? You bet.

u/Avelafont · 1 pointr/MechanicAdvice

I see what you mean! I was watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdNdiSMepng and it looked like the same Jack, but I now see what you mean with the bolt holes. Would something like this one be best? https://www.amazon.com/TONDA-TON-Portable-Scissor-Jack/dp/B06Y65M2NS/ref=sr_1_7?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1537407080&sr=1-7&keywords=car+jack

Or would you get a bottle jack?

u/jjallllday · 1 pointr/Jeep

I was given this mount in a friend group's secret santa for jeepers. I trust this mount for emergencies (tested it before by accident). Sits slightly below the top of the rear bench too so that's a good feeling.

u/exit87 · 3 pointsr/TeslaModel3

I would trust any nationwide chain to do it. Suggest buying some jack plugs and keep them in the car. Out of an abundance of caution mention to the shop they need to have these plugs in the holes as the contact for the jack points, best bet is buy a set of 4.

I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/LEAD-BRAND-Scissor-Capacity-Strength/dp/B07CZGTXYH/

It can be cranked up/down with a 17mm wrench or socket, turned with whatever you have in the garage (impact wrench) or whatever you carry in the car (handheld ratchet).

The wrench that came with the jack broke quickly but the jack itself doesn’t seem to have quality issues. However because that wrench is junk you’ll want to consider carrying something else to turn it with... still, it’s a thousand times easier to use even with a normal hand ratchet than the awkward crank bar that comes with most jacks.

Hi-Lift makes adjustable mounts that work well:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CEFJ2U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use these to mount mine to my tire carrier (AEV Hardrock carrier) and they work great.

GoJacks my friend. Then throw it up on a flatbed if they care enough

u/azzarth · 1 pointr/DIY

Scissor lift is going to be the most compact for what you're wanting to do, I found this on amazon, its an electric scissor jack for cars thats pretty compact. it uses a 12v power point too, you may already have one in your van that would be easy to use. I just dont know if it would reach tall enough for the clearance you need

u/etm33 · 2 pointsr/teslamotors

Do they have (or do you have) a set of lift point adapters?

There are lots of options, but the Model 3 has really tiny lift points and I wouldn't want the shop to try lifting without them.

I personally own and can vouch for the quality of the ReverseLogic ones, but when I bought them they were one of the only games in town. Today, I'd probably make the puck/3D printed knob ones myself, since I'm a hockey player and have the pucks laying around :)

u/SgtBrowncoat · 1 pointr/VEDC

Hi-lift jacks are very dangerous and should only be used when nothing else will do the job. I use mine only for getting unstuck, a bottle jack or small floor jack are much safer for things like tire changes.

To help reduce how high I have to lift the vehicle, I use a Lift-Mate. If you jack from the chassis, you have to lift the vehicle much higher due to the suspension droop, this allows you to lift from the tire and is more stable.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you have and lift points on your chassis, the tow hitch is a good spot for the back, but unless you have added a seriously tough front bumper and sliders, you may not be able to jack from anywhere - another reason for the Lift Mate.

Finally, think about the ground. You may need a base to keep the jack from sinking if you are on soft ground like sand or mud. I've used mine for my bottle jack too.

I suggest you watch this video about high lift jacks.

u/alf3311 · 2 pointsr/4Runner

I have this one, it has a red neck extension that adds about 4" and is very helpful for lifting the 4Runner frame. I take it off if I'm working on my SO's Subaru.

Don't forget jack stands as well.

u/jgagnon_in_FL · 1 pointr/Wrangler

I had a hi-lift and forgot to put it in my Jeep when I had it shipped from FL to Vegas, ended up giving it away since it was cheaper than shipping it solo (cheaper to replace off of ebay with free shipping if I wanted another one). Now I have the ARB 72X10 Orange Bushranger X-Jack Kit seems like every jack has its faults. I have seen a lot of rotopax stacked 2 high in the configuration you are using. Only problem I have with my side mount is my door (rear view mirror?) bumps into it a lot when I open my driver's side door. It's only bumping into the rotopax so it is a soft "scrape" and I am not too concerned, just being more careful when I open my doors.

Forgot to mention my rotopax are secure-ish, I have a cable lock threaded through them looping through a U bolt attached to the mount.

u/xXWestinghouseXx · 1 pointr/specializedtools

This floor jack is just an example. It’s portable and stable but it does take up space.

The thing I don’t like about the bottle jack is that you must be on flat hard ground or else it could tip over or simply drive itself into the ground and not lift the car.

Questions on wheel cleaning

  1. Should I stop using Meguiar's Hot Shine High Gloss Tire Spray? What damage do silicone based tire dressing do? I've only used it once so far.

  2. What pieces of equipment should I buy to remove my tires in order to clean inside the wheel wells and wax them? I'm thinking a tire iron and a floor jack should do the trick.

    Thanks
u/sdoorex · 6 pointsr/mechanical_gifs

GoJacks would be far better than those because they will lift the car allowing it to be moved instead of needing separate jacks.

u/nchilds98 · 8 pointsr/Dirtbikes

Check out this stand. You can lift the bike up real tall so you can work on it easier

Its the 4X Rac mount.. I cant fabricate for beans so I bought this. Just bolts right on after some drilling.

Keep a set of these in your Tesla.. https://www.amazon.com/Dragway-Tools-Hydraulic-Positioning-Capacity/dp/B003W0F33O/ That way you can move their car for them.

u/KevinBrown · 3 pointsr/teslamotors

I've often fantasized about carrying Go-Jacks with me and moving the cars myself.

u/roj2323 · 9 pointsr/teslamotors

Rather than destroying the car as many of the posters here seem to be encouraging why not just move the car.
Using a set of hydraulic wheel dollys you can simply push the car out of the space.

It's the Harbor Freight knockoff of the OTC Racing Jack. I have the OTC one, I wouldn't trust the Harbor Freight jack to last very long.

u/Wuwuhu · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

If you are a very light user it will be an ok product. My bf is a hobby mechanic and he's won't even entertain the idea of this jack.

Is a really life long abuse taking truck lifting beast with safety features.

u/coredumperror · 2 pointsr/teslamotors

With that jack, you'll want a few hockey pucks, or custom jack adapters, to ensure that you don't damage the battery pack. There are specific jack points that you need to use (denoted by circular holes along the edge of the battery pack) to avoid damaging the pack.

u/nirbenvana · 6 pointsr/Offroad

Hey! I'm not nearby but I can tell you exactly how to get out because I was in your exact shoes about a year ago. It's not about pulling your truck straight back or digging. You have to lift it up first and then back it out. You need a hi lift Jack and a wheel mate:

https://www.amazon.com/Hi-Lift-LM100-Jack-LM-100-Lift-Mate-x/dp/B00042KGWG

Attach that to your front wheel, lift the wheel up out of the rut, fill in the whole underneath it with anything that has traction, and lower the wheel back down. Repeat for at least the other front wheel, or all four if necessary. You'll be able to drive right out.

No need for a fancy winch.

u/TwoScoopsofDestroyer · 10 pointsr/rage

Heh just acquire some Hydraulic Wheel Dollies (or just three buddies with hydraulic jacks), and pickup and move the truck a small enough distance to not be considered grand theft auto, possibly move it to be blocking in a different asshole, or such that he has to get in from the passenger side.

Just for off-road. I used to keep it mounted in the back of the Jeep on the roll bar, but it rattled so much I would get annoyed driving on dirt roads. I think I can place a couple pieces of foam into the foot and mechanism to make it quiet, but I just decided to keep it off the vehicle when I'm not off roading instead. Less weight to carry around day-to-day.

Edit: I'll get around to priming it and putting some bedliner on it in the future to match the color. It's kind of expensive for what it is, but most of the jack mounts are $40-$150 so I guess it's within expectations. I liked this solution because I could use it on the roll bar inside or on the bumper. I had previously made some mounts out of u-bolt muffler clamps and wing nuts; those worked but was a pain to get the jack on and off so I gave up and went with this.
