Just to clear a few things up.

> Im glad you cleared that up for me about the other SBCs. I was wondering if the other brands would be better at handling the systems the pi doesn't handle well.

Interestingly enough - ETA Prime (YouTuber) just posted a video about the MiQi SBC. It seems to be running N64 pretty nicely and he says he's going to be putting up a video soon about the MiQi and systems the Pi doesn't do very well. So while the support may not be there, it might be worth looking into, just understand that you're going to have less support for the systems you're interested in.

It might also be worth waiting for the Raspberry Pi 4, which my guess will be out within the next 3-6 months (nobody really knows when it will be out). It should have better specs and be able to handle something like N64 a little better due to better a stronger CPU. N64 development is something that is actively worked on for the Raspberry Pi where something like Dreamcast Emulation appears to be dead in the water (for example, the bug with date/time needing to be entered when loading every ROM was identified a while ago, but remains unfixed even though the fix has been identified; I'd do it myself if I knew how to code).

> So now I'm totally sold on the Pi3 and I'm chomping at the bit to place an order, but I'm still hung up on what to order with it.

The Cananakit is the most popular option. I ended up going for the basic and ordering a separate 128 GB card (but you can also get 256 GB if you're feeling like you could fill it up). The kit comes with a case, power supply, heat sinks. There are better cases you can buy, but this is a good all-in-one type price.

> I can't seem to find a clear small form factor case that has space in it for HDD AND has a cooling fan.

You're not going to want to put a HDD in it. They can add heat and the last thing you want is to add heat to this. They can already get a little hot. If you want a HDD attached, your best bet is to do it via USB. I know you don't like the idea of an external, but it's honestly the best way to go if you really want a hard drive attached. Here's an option I did find with a hard drive though, but I think you're risking overheating with this type of application:

Here are a few cases with fans attached:
Zebra Virtue, JBtek Transparent Acrylic Raspberry Pi B+ / Raspberry Pi 2 Case with External Fan (I might actually buy this one for myself), Eleduino 2015 New Version Raspberry Pi 2 mode B Transparent Acrylic Case With Fan Black.

> I have a decent gaming laptop. Could I use that to host the steam program?

You can't say you have a decent gaming laptop and not know what Steam is.

Steam supports streaming to just about any PC. There's two caveats to this though. First, you need to be hard wired. A laptop is normally wireless just because of the platform type. Second, you can't use the PC while it's streaming. You can go to the PC being streamed from and actually watch what's being played and even interfere with the game being played/streamed.

> Would having a separate account solve the problem of having an over crowded steam library?

Sort of. Again, the NES, SNES, and Genesis complete sets will run over 2k games easily (I have something like 1100 in my NES folder for Japanese only games that I included; the full US NES set is like ~700 or so.). That gets crowded, fast. Even viewing a single system with over 100 games gets crowded. Now Steam uses a flat view, so unless you split up everything manually, it's still going to get crowded.

I started to set this up and I don't recommend it unless it's for your favorite games and I'd limit it to about 10-20 per system. I'd use the Pi for a catch all for everything else.

> Another reason I want to shy away from just having a regular Pc for emulation is I want my kids to be able to play the games but I don't want them on my computer... this hosting thing seems like a great solution.

Again, Steam Link won't really help with that since they'll be able to access the computer. What don't you want them to be able to access? You should be able to block most of that with user account access. For about $500 or so, you can build a PC that should run everything up to the Wii. Hook it up to the TV and they won't be able to really do much else.

My one bit of advise, skip the keyboard case and get a nice small bluetooth keyboard, and one or more cases of your choice. I've had several generations of iPads and a few Keyboard cases in my time. They are more expensive and have consistently broken on me. Of all the separate keyboards I've had, not one has broken, I've taken them with me between devices, and they've lasted years. You can buy far more or less protective cases, as you wish.

Just some recommendations:

  • https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PIMKN1Q/
  • https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AKCM5YG
  • https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GWGLUZ0/

The Microsoft is my favorite, but no longer available. the iClever foldable is my newest and I'm getting to like it quite a bit.

The only argument I can make for the 4G iPad is that it also includes GPS capabilities. If you want to use it for navigation, photography with geotagging, or any other location-dependent activity, you might want to consider it. It also grabs a slightly higher resale value.

The Pro gets you the Pencil, faster speeds, more memory, slightly better screen, larger sizes. If you don't need any of these, then no reason to get the Pro. The iPad can do anything a Pro model can do, except for hardware differences (Pencil compatibility and True Tone screen).

The iPad (any model) can handle note taking and basic office productivity very well. Apple's iWork apps are the "smoothest" and fit the iPad the best. But Microsoft Office is not far behind. Google's apps are shoe-horned to work with the iPad and the least "iPad like" IMHO. But since all are basically free to download and try I'd say give them all a chance.

I would recommend getting the 128G. You can't upgrade later and some day you may wish you had the space, especially for movies and the like. Transferring to and from the cloud can be a chore.

Not to sound like a prick, but I’ve typically shied away from the cheap-o $10 cases (I get that the Apple silicone case is overpriced, but it fits super snug and works really well). That said, I rolled the dice on this guy ($15 shipped at this time) and it’s solid.

It’s a bit softer than the Apple case, but still fits snugly and feels like it offers similar protection (I don’t need anything major; I just wanna be able to set it down without scuffing it all up). Holding the Pencil is a nice little bonus.

Fits well with the keyboard (apparently that was an issue with early versions of this guy, but it’s been fixed). Only tiny gripe might be that it’s a bit soft, especially around the thin parts like the speakers, but all in all, it’s great. Absolutely recommend as a replacement for the silicone case and you can keep your Pencil stashed now.

Hijacking this comment to implore anybody remotely interested in replaying Final Fantasy VI to try out the phenomenally well-made fan ROMhack called Brave New World.

If I was a smarter man I would be able to articulate just how incredible this mod/overhaul really is without sounding like a hyperbolic rambling weirdo. But I'm not, so here goes:

The original Final Fantasy VI is one of my absolute favorite games of all time. I can't remember how many times I've beaten it since I first rented it at Blockbuster when I was 10 years old. But it is not without a slew of (gamebreaking) bugs, balance issues (Vanish/Doom anyone?), questionable design problems (Magic stat trumps EVERYTHING), and really weird damage calculations and mechanics.

THIS MOD FIXES ALL OF THAT, in a logical, cohesive, and intelligent manner that still manages to respect the feel of the original game. This is not a lazy "difficulty" mod that some 12 year old put together after figuring out how to use a hex editor to raise boss HP values. This is a passionate love letter to a flawed game that uses a slew of really clever hacks and other technical wizardry to make the gameplay super satisfying.

Every stat has a use, every character is unique with several different viable stat/gear builds instead of being generic Ultima/defense-ignoring attack spammers. I seriously cannot recommend this romhack enough. This is the way Final Fantasy VI was meant to be experienced.

Anybody with an Android phone can download SNES9X or another emulator for free off of the Play Store and run this rom at fullspeed and perfect sound. I bought this controller mount for my smartphone and a cheap short USB cable to wire my Dual Shock 4 to my phone for portable gaming nirvana. I can play arguably the greatest JRPG ever made while pooping.

Speaking from personal experience, I would go with this Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

I was in the market for a machine so my daughter could do her art without covering our house in the inane ramblings of an 8 year old, so I started digging into convertibles with pens. I finally settled on the SP4.

It's extremely lightweight, the magnet attachment for the keyboard and power are fantastic features, the pen is really great and accurate, and the display is absolutely beautiful. I really suggest the i5/8GB model, since you can't upgrade it, and I would suggest getting this UAG Case as well. I tested a number of cases first and landed on that one, as it allows the keyboard to snap to it without removing the case or having any other weird addition like the Otterbox one has.

Also keeping in mind that the Surface Pro Type Cover is separate, it is on the high end of your budget. But something that will last all day (in power saving mode), and be extremely easy to carry around with a good quality pen is well worth it.

I have the Anker tempered glass screen protector from Amazon on my 10.5 pro. Works great, went on easy with no bubbles or marks. I also have the Apple Smart Keyboard and a compatible iBlason case from Amazon on it. The case is thin and has a clear back so it looks minimal. Finally, I carry it around in the Apple iPad Pro leather sleeve. It looks and feels great. It’s expensive but I found one brand new on eBay for half the price of retail stores. That's in the works!

You can certainly use Bluetooth keyboard/mice combos (something like this) with the M300, but the ideal approach is to use existing applications which are tailored to the user interface models of Smart Glass devices which don't rely upon touch-based input.

If you'd like any further help with your M300, please feel free to send me a PM.

So in the picture I attached you'll see two small Knicks on the right back side. No idea how they got there since the ipads been in a case 99% of the time. Luckily any case you put on will cover it. Other than that the ipad is in great condition.

Along with the ipad will come the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen and three cases, a folio case and a bluetooth keyboard. Comes with orginal charger and cable as well. I have the box for the ipad but not the pencil. Also I do have month to month applecare which I can try to transfer or just let it finish out.

It's a bit on the pricey side at $39.99 USD

but the fact that it's sturdy, allows charging, and takes up so little space that it should fit in pretty much every Switch case to me makes it a winner.

Runner up was the Arkon Folding Tablet Stand much cheaper, but not quite as sturdy, significantly larger (won't fit in most Switch Cases), and would likely require a right-angled USB C cable to charge while in use.

edit

If the price of the Compass V2 throws you off, the original Compass V1 goes for like 15 bucks on Amazon and it's actually slimmer then the V2 but apparently less sturdy.

edit 2

also there is a cheapo version of it for 10 bucks but I can't attest to its quality. Thanks u/doublespoiler and u/soma04 for the tip.

u/6745408 · 3 pointsr/xbmc

You have a few options, assuming you're using an actual computer and not a raspberry Pi.

  • Bluetooth Candy Board style remote. The Rii is on a deep discount right now. If you're on a raspberry pi, opt for a 2.5ghz one. I haven't been able to get bluetooth to work with my pi.

  • MCE IR receiver / remote. You can sometimes find them at Value Village, but ebay or amazon is good enough. These work really well.

The candy board style remote is nice because it's got a trackpad and keyboard. If you have a cat, they'll enjoy the laser pointer. The MCE remote is nice because it's a traditional feel -- on my system, I have both hooked up.

I recently bought an iPad but I need help choosing an inexpensive case cover. Which material is the best in terms of protection (falls, wear and tear)?

Option 1 : Hard plastic back

Option 2 : Soft TPU back

Option 3 : Soft TPU Bumper Edges with Hard plastic back

Actually, I'd rather not go with hard plastic as it may crack easily?

So, Option 2 or 3?

Pwease help, thank you!

So a couple things the poetic cases are pretty awesome and so cheap that I thought they were too cheap and held of buying them for a bit.

iPad Air 3 Case (10.5 Inch, 2019), iPad Pro 10.5 Case, Poetic Flexible Soft Transparent TPU Clear Back Cover with Pencil Holder, Compatible with Apple Smart Keyboard and Smart Cover, Lumos, Clear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N4LHPZE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_tAQHDbH7TAW53

The default keyboard IMO is much better than people give it credit for, I have no issues typing on it or using it. Also since they haven’t changed it you can find it on sale for a lot less than msrp. Apple Pencil comes with the charging adapter so you don’t have to plug it into the iPad, and it doesn’t need to be charged all the time. Also since it is the same pencil you can find some good deals on it as well still a bit much.
Personally in the same situation I found a used iPad Pro 10.5 64gb with pencil and keyboard for 450 and have no regrets (maybe 64gb)

u/Mayormitch100 · 4 pointsr/ipad

I really like covers and cases from JETech. I have an iPad Pro 10.5 in cover that I bought from them and they started emailing me codes for free Apple Watch bands, and again later a code for a free iPhone X case.

Here is a link for the latest iPad 2017 model. It is only $6.99. I can vouch for their cases they are outstanding!

(I promise I am not a shill for them, just a really happy customer! [which seems silly that I feel the need to say this])

>I type a few essays for school every blue moon, but that's about it.

Do not underestimate the convenience of having two windows open at the same time. Yes, you can switch between Safari and Pages/Word/whatever with a swipe, but it gets old quick.

Also: you're going to want a real keyboard to type an essay. You do not want to do it with the onscreen keyboard. Period. If you're not doing a lot of typing all over the place (library, notes in class, etc), then I guess that means you don't have to get a tiny keyboard, which is good news for typing comfort.

I'd suggest either the Universal Mobile Keyboard from Microsoft (no joke) or the K480 by Logitech. Both of them are nice to type on while still small enough to fit in most bags.

u/ModRocX · 1 pointr/Surface

Mine SP4 lives in the UAG (http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Feather-Light-Composite-Aluminum-Military/dp/B016ATD48O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462397656&sr=8-1&keywords=uag+surface+pro+4) and occasionally comes out when I'm sitting on the couch surfing.

It's a great case - yes it'adds bulk but still way slimmer and lighter than my old laptop :)

(edit: and it get's a lot of positive comments regarding it's looks)

Cheers.

u/ThePoetPyronius · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you're unable to sit up to play games sometimes, I'm going to go ahead and recommend getting one of these bad boys - https://www.amazon.com/Tryone-Gooseneck-Compatible-Smartphones-Tablets/dp/B07218SK42/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=trygone+gooseneck&qid=1550565991&s=gateway&sr=8-2-spell
It's compatible with the Switch and lets you use a pro controller or joycon grip controller while laying flat. Honestly, one of ths best purchases I've ever made for $20. Playing games at 180 degrees is insanely comfortable. Plus, if you get a half-ok android tablet, you can use it to stream games from a PC or PS4 easily enough. Hope this helps. :)

I really like my current setup for listening to music in my car via bluetooth. Some of these are paid apps.

GOgroove FlexSmart X3 FM Transmitter Solid FM transmitter, good quality sound and adjusted tuning freq is nice.

Delayed Lock - $3 - disables my pattern lock screen when the phone is connected to the bluetooth transmitter

Car Dashdroid - auto runs when connected to bluetooth FM transmitter. Big shortcut icons and dial pad for car use. Auto closes when disconnected from bluetooth.

Nova Launcher - setup homescreen gesture to run car dashdroid with 2 fingers swipe down and Waze with two fingers swipe up.

Satechi Car Mount Works perfectly with the OPO.

With these apps and OPO's double tap to turn on, using the phone in the car is a treat.

u/JoshuaJSlone · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

The ones with the fat tips seem more similar to using one's finger, but I got one similar to this which is nice because with a smaller tip it's easier to be precise. I've been enjoying using it with SSBU's stage builder.

I will admit to stupidly not understanding how it worked when I got it--I thought the clear disc on the end was a cap of sorts to be removed and I ended up ruining the tip. Luckily most of them come with extras.

u/bryanvb · 1 pointr/Android

I find it very useful. I've read comics on it, played games on it and more recently I got this stand for it and put it next to my computer to use as a mini Netflix TV. The speaker isn't the greatest but there is an app that allows you to make it louder. Of course you can also do some casual browsing and pretty much anything else you can do with a tablet. I like the size, it's very easy to type with your thumbs in profile mode. Of course at this point there are some other options so it's up to you.

u/mrkhiggz · 1 pointr/ipad

I also got the New iPad 2017. Still not many options for keyboard cases last I checked. What I ended up doing was getting this case and this keyboard. Neither were very expensive so if I find a better solution in the future I won't feel too bad replacing them rather quickly.

The case has the smart cover feature where it will unlock or lock your screen when opening and closing. The plastic shell keeps it from getting scuffed and the front cover folds to make a stand.

I have also found it to be convenient not having the keyboard attached to the case actually. There have been times where I didn't want the keyboard directly in from of the iPad and having that flexibility over a "laptop configuration" is surprisingly nice. I don't take my iPad out of my house very often so far so the two piece thing hasn't been an issue for portability for me yet. Also, the bluetooth keyboard can be paired with iOS, Android, Windows, or Mac so if I do replace it for the iPad, I have other devices I could use it with.

u/TrevelyanISU · 2 pointsr/nvidiashield

I've got intelliarmor on mine and it is probably the best screen protector I've ever had for a device. As for case, I think it's up to personal preferences in part, but brand aside I highly recommend getting a case that the front is tri-fold to double as a stand. I personally have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-NVIDIA-SHIELD-Tablet-SmartShell/dp/B00MN98ATE but any case like that with good reviews should be fine, IMO.

u/Edge767 · 2 pointsr/ipad

I'll be going with THIS one. I use the smart keyboard and this will help protect the back and look like it belongs.

Currently, I use a beige smart cover on the back. It works surprisingly well on the back of my iPad with the smart keyboard on the front. I put it on the back only while it's in my bag.

I am, yea. I picked up a JBTek Transparent "case" which is really just two transparent acrylic plates with four posts (i.e. no walls) and a fan. (The case didn't come with instructions but the Amazon listing comments had instructions with photos from other customers which was a huge help.) I also got some a uxcell 25mmx25mmx15mm heatsink which I stuck on with Artic Silver thermal paste. Note that I mounted the fan pointing inwards which is the inverse of their photo, because it's better for cooling. (Same reasons you point your CPU's fans to blow in and not out.)

(Sorry for the massive delay; real-life's giving me a beating.)

After upgrading to the new iPhone 6 Plus I found it doesn't fit in the conveniently sized triangle next to the cup holder in my CC. I knew I didn't want a window suction mount, so I considered vent mounts.. but nothing really stood out to me.

Then I found out a few companies make CD slot mounts!

I love it! Its right in the center, doesn't block anything in our cars, and its right at arm lengths reach. It's perfect!

This is the one I ordered: http://www.amazon.com/Satechi-Universal-Smartphone-Slot-Mount/dp/B00D4ABOZS/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1411435667&sr=1-1&keywords=satechi+cd+slot+mount

I have the Fintie SmartShell case, and I love it! It protects the whole of the tablet as opposed to just the screen from the Nvidia official case. It's a solid plasic build with a fold-around magnetic cover that functions as a stand and a sleep/wake mechanism. It is less than half the price of the Nvidia official one! xD

I went with this one by TomToc. Almost more like a slim laptop bag. It offers good protection and has soft insides but the main reason I chose it is that it has some great pockets. > useful for sharing a quick screenshot of something

Just adding my screenshot tip to the bunch, since no-one mentioned it yet.

The following method will allow you to make a screenshot, even if you have a modal window on the screen. Modal windows (typically you have to press OK, Cancel or X to close them) will prevent any other actions taking place, including making screenshots from second screen controls or using volume button combinations.

  1. Attach a wired (with USB-C OTG or USB-C hub) keyboard or connect a bluetooth keyboard, e.g. they have these tiny pocketable ones

  2. Press PrtScr on the attached/connected keyboard (a screen capture animation will show and screenshot will be stored into the gallery).

Samples where this method was useful recently were e.g.:

u/isanyonekeepingtrack · 1 pointr/3Dprinting

I have the injection molded version of that case.. Thought about printing it when I got my C2s, but those clips are just too brittle with PLA. I switched to this JBtek case, and some better 5V Sunon fans. They get run pretty hard at times. I wish they made a case with a little hatch on the bottom for the eMMC module though.

If you can't get it right, I've got 2 of the injection molded cases you can have if you want (hopefully I haven't lost the tiny screws) as I won't be using them again.

I am currently attending uni and from my experience this past year with the 10.5. I highly recommend it. Simply because you might not always have the luxury in terms of desk space of having a 12.5 with you and also because of weight. My mom bought the 12.5 and regretted it within a few days because of the weight and sheer size.

If you are saving money or you would rather use that money for something else, I recommend using your petrol points to purchase it and spend a little to get the accessories you would want to have. In contrast if you want to be future proof, don’t mind waiting a bit, and don’t mind spending a fair penny; purchase the new one. Roughly with the items listed below and getting an 10.5 with 256GB and with AppleCare set me back roughly $1250 USD so you have a rough idea of how much you might be spending.

Accessories that I bought that I also highly recommend and use on a daily basis are listed:

You don't need to swipe apps away from the recent list when you're done with them. The system saves their state to RAM, but it frees it if it is needed for another app. I never bother clearing my recent apps, and I don't notice any slowdowns.

I personally opted to just use my N10 without a case because I wasn't willing to lose that awesome back, and the slim form factor. I did get a [sleeve] ( http://www.amazon.com/V7-Protective-Tablets-10-1-Inch-TD23BLK-GY-2N/dp/B007R3Z5E4/ref=pd_cp_pc_1) for transport and a [foldable tablet stand] ( http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Portable-Fold-Up-Playbook-IPM-TAB1/dp/B000CKVOOY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1371221361&sr=1-1&keywords=tablet+stand).

Oh yeah. It's easy as dirt to unlock and root. The stock ROM will remove root and TWRP on OTA updates though, just a heads up.

Fintie makes pretty great cases on the cheap. I've gotten their stuff for every tablet I've owned. I use this one since I like a heftier device and it fits well in my bluetooth controller's grips, but there's a slim shell one too more like the official case if you prefer.

You managed to kill two different boards? Were you running them without a case or something? The GPIO pins on pretty much all SBCs go straight to the CPU, you need to be careful about static and stray voltages if you're messing around with them.

I have several C2 boards, all running Armbian from an eMMC module. They've been rock solid for me for over a year now. I originally had them in this case but switched to a 3D printed case that has a fan that better protects them. I use a fairly low speed 5V Sunon fan that's basically silent.

So far on Amazon all I've seen are transparent backs (that support smart keyboard) and I would prefer something grey or black.

But if you're in the market for a case with the stand kinda like the Ipad Smart Cover thing, then check out electroniccrap.com. I personally have a magnetic folio case and I absolutely love it. Besides protecting your kindle, it also feels amazing in your hand and gives you better grip while reading. I highly recommend getting one.

The Surface Pro with LTE Advanced seems to match your needs. The LTE model comes with a nano SIM card slot so your AT&T 4G plan should work with it. With the current promotion, this model (i5, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM) is $1250 so its only just outside your budget, if that's fine. Keep in mind though that you would need to buy the Type Cover for the Surface.

I've seen a few rugged cases on Amazon like this one from Kensington or this one from UAG so those should be fine. Here's the Microsoft Store page for the Surface itself. You can also buy some of the accessories bundled together (like the UAG case and Type Cover) by clicking on "SEE DEALS" and going to "Bundle and Save", although there isn't much of a discount.

Edit: You could probably go for an older used Surface Pro as well to save money, but be sure to buy the LTE model otherwise it won't have a SIM card slot.

Over 2 years ago, I reviewed this mount, here's what I wrote back then:

"I can vouch for this mount. I got it about 3 weeks ago for my iPhone 6+ because I'd be traveling a lot and it has held beautifuly. I have a VW beetle and the only thing is that the little foot that holds to the front panel of the factory stereo blocks/presses the buttons, so I just installed it upside down and it fits perfectly. I love it and it hasn't moved, bounced, wiggled or anything in the +5000 km I've put in my car since buying it."

Anyway, 2 years later the thing is working as new, the spring that holds the movable lip hasn't faltered, the inner lips that hold the thing in place inside the cd slot haven't damaged anything and the outside of the cd slot isn't scratched. Hope this helps.

Somebody on a forum did testing with a few cases and this one, while not pretty, did the trick and had the best temps of multiple cases, even fancier ones. Beforehand my Rpi3 was overheating on high resolution videos, and hasn't had a hitch since.

The downsides for me are dealable - it's open sided which means it might collect a bit more dust, although no issues yet over two months of use. The other is that the fan makes noise. You could likely find a better quality fan that makes less noise if it bothers you.

Usually the volume of what I'm watching drown out the fans - in my household I've generally got fans running or air conditioning or my own desktop rig so fan noise doesn't bother me at all. It doesn't make nasty sounds or very loud at all, just what you'd expect from a small and decenty speedy little fan.

In terms of usage, I use the PC the most followed by Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact + DS4. But they all work...

In terms of ease of use / portability, I'd say it's a toss up between Tablet/DS4/Mount & Vita then PC (Laptop) + DS4. Vita isn't bad, but the screen is too small for my taste for remote play, and the grip, even though helps to add extra buttons, isn't as natural as using the DS4.

I have the Smart Keyboard and the Apple Learher case. At first I liked it but then I bought thePoetic Lumos Silicone back Cover. This combined with the Smart Keyboard gives my iPad protection and holds the pencil, making the leather case completely useless. The Poetic Lumos cover is super functional and isn't expensive.

Choose your accessories wisely. It's a shame I found the Poetic case two months after getting my iPad. I can't return it. The leather case now just sits in its box, in a drawer, doing nothing.

If you already have a console gamepad, I strongly recommend just getting a phone holder accessory. The options on Amazon for third-party controllers with integrated holders are mostly pretty bad. None of them hold a candle to the official PS4 or XB1 gamepads.

Sony actually has an official one for the PS4 gamepad, even available on Amazon with Prime shipping.

Nyko makes a solid-looking third-party option for less. But I'd recommend the Sony version because its design will never block the buttons or slots on the side of your phone.

The options for XB1 owners could a little more challenging, unfortunately.

Rather than having a case that includes a holder (still a bit hard to find for the new 2018 non-pro iPad), I went with separate case + holder and got two very cheap things.

This case which is actually pretty thin and nice (magnets work, good texture at the back) :

in regards to your second link... i would not recommend...it has piss poor reception and the mousepad is not i would call quality, it has tracking issues for sure.

Honestly a Apple Trackpad might not be a bad idea. Just turn sensitivity up so he doesn't have to move his hand very much.

I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X6LSBZ6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's slim and does exactly what it says it will. I don't have much faith in the plastic around the edges though. I will be replacing it with this once it's in stock:

I've had this same case from Khomo on my iPad Air 1 and Air 2 and never had an issue. It's built from a nice rubberized material on the bottom that is comfortable and has never broken on me.

EDIT: lol, why on earth am I being downvoted

u/viper_in_the_grass · 2 pointsr/kindle

I checked a few older threads and here are a few links to suggested covers:

Fintie

Omoton

MoKo

They all bend backwards and have auto wake/sleep. They all have different colours and designs.

These are the regular covers. There are also some neat covers called origami that fold in the back, making a little stand for the Kindle. Here's one by Fintie. Seems like all these brands have them, so just search and choose your favourite.

Note: those links are for the Paperbacks versions. If you go with the Voyage, just search for that version.

When I got my Paperwhite I did some research and found the OMOTON case. It's light, sturdy, and has a magnetic flap. Multiple color choices. The outside texture is nice, enough grip so it doesn't feel like it slides out of my hand. $14.99 on Amazon now. The price fluctuates though, I got mine for $10.

Yes. Since it is such a competitive game, I really feel gimped in handheld mode. So much so that if I know I'm going to play it when I'm traveling, I bring a pro controller with me and do "table top" mode. Also, the motion controls don't really work well when reclining in handheld mode, so I also use this goose neck mount (Amazon link) for when I'm splatooning in bed ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º).

u/robeschi · 1 pointr/ipad

I got this Moko case and it was OK, but I really wanted some place to put my Pencil, so I got this one. Turns out it was a moot point since I found the 10.5 too small and upgraded to the 12.9, but I really did like the one that held the pencil - until I found this skin for the Pencil...

u/smackythefrog · 1 pointr/macsetups

Thanks. I thought it was a stand and didn't realize it was a case/stand/Smart Case like thing. I have one too but I was looking for one that was a standalone...stand.

Sort of like this this. But I didn't know if this one in particular was reliable/quality.

u/spicymacncheese · 3 pointsr/RetroPie

Something like this might work if you simply replace the included standoff posts with something longer picked up from the hardware store. This would allow extra vertical space for the powerblock. The case does fit the Raspberry Pi 3 even though it doesn't say so in the description.

u/Crasty · 2 pointsr/theNvidiaShield

I recommend any of these.
I have one, and it's fantastic. I've heard bad things about the official cases. I don't worry about mine at all. I also don't drop it from standing heights on the regular. If you are going to use it to play hockey, I'd get something thicker.

u/TheToonWolf · 2 pointsr/theNvidiaShield

I do not have the same case you have but I have the Apple Smart Keyboard and I can put the iPad in there with that and there is enough room to also put the pencil in the main compartment between the iPad and the zipper. So I would think that you could probably get that case inside the sleeve even with the pencil extension.

I can answer a few q's:

  1. 64GB should be fine unless you are planning to download a bunch of movies, music or photos.

  2. I have the smart keyboard with a poetic case(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073S2V1PL/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I suggest having a back case in the event it slips out of your hands. As for the smart keyboard, I want to try something different as it is designed only to be on a desk/table. Its had to use when in your lap or bed. It kinda sucks not having the keys backlit either.

  3. I am running mines w/o one and have no issues. I just carry a micro fiber around to clean the smudges

It might be priced awkwardly for your budget, but a tablet holder could be useful. I've been using one to play until I have enough money to get a new low input lag TV. This way I can still use my pro controller. You could make up the difference in your budget with a gift card

u/Unique-Sn0wflake · 1 pointr/Surface

If you're talking about the case, This is the one I've seen

Btw if you want a cheaper one, while searching I saw some more cases with their own stands. The stand wasn't metal like this one tho, it was like a typical iPad stand where it folds to hold the device up. Just search for "surface pro 4 cases" on Amazon im sure you'll see it

u/Kolyin · 2 pointsr/Surface

Just a cheapo tablet stand from Amazon. This one, I think: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DBV1OKY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't actually recommend it for an SB, but it's fine for a tablet (or the SB in tablet mode). It's not heavy or stable enough to support the computer in laptop mode. The SB's balanced towards the back, so it just tips over.

u/UpUpandAwayEngineer · 4 pointsr/engineering

Does it absolutely HAVE to be a trackball? If a D-pad+software could be better, I could maybe build it out of a USB NES controller. I've already made one just for the sake of doing it, so it would be a piece of cake to make another shell to fit his hand. I know that's wired, but IIRC you can get adapters that can let you use USB stuff remotely (USB->adapter->goes through air->other adapter->USB port on computer).

I just found this too, would that work?
