I know my mother probably didn't have the best knowledge of the gaming headset market when she bought this for Christmas but the PDP AFTERGLOW Universal/AGU.1S WIRELESS HEADSET has served me better than some $70 senhieser headphones I bought a while back. My mother found this headset on sale on Amazon and bought them. I am convinced they are worth the $90 list price but it has some good sound quality but I have not much clue to how the mic compares as I don't use it that much and plus, I don't think the people you talk to on skype really care if your mic is bad as long as they can hear you and if mic quality is a issue for you because of video recording etc. I would recommend getting a good pair of headphones and a clip on mic. This headset is also available wired which I assume would be better quality.

The thing I found good about this mic is that it retracts in and out of one of the earcups instead of folding up and getting snapped off for some reason. In terms of looks the glow was awesome and matched the LEDs in my build when I bought it but now I would probably go with the AFTERGLOW DOLBY 5.1 SURROUND SOUND WIRELESS HEADSETwhich you can set the LEDs to be any color, if I had the money because the current one looks very silly on my head (I don't mind because it's not like anyone can see me :'(.

It is durable, works well, is comfortable, sound quality is excellent IMO and has a great wireless range. Note: when I saw the box I thought it would be Bluetooth wireless or something that I would have to download that I could control from my computer but it was actually a fairly simple headphone jack to a USB which sends the audio wirelessly although this meant that I couldn't do wireless with my iPhone, I used a included wire to try them out for the first time.

They have a couple gimmicks that I thought wouldn't work but actually are awesome! They have 3 settings, one for normal audio, one for more bass, and one for "immersive audio" (enhanced surround sound) which I have found good for both music and games. I prefer my epic speaker setup for hearing the directional sound (if that's what you call it) but sometimes the whole house doesn't want to hear rapid gunfire from upstairs. The range is great, I can listen even when I'm in my basement (my computer is on the 2nd floor).

Today I would probably not look at this headset if I was shopping for a new one unless it was recommended to me by amazon or something but looking back on it I am glad I found it! At first I thought that the manufacturer looked a little sketchy but the PDP customer service were great when I asked for some cables that you can order for free according to the manual (I didn't need them but I thought they could be useful later on) and they arrived within a couple of weeks. Check them out because I didn't think they would be any good and I had never heard of them before but they have served me very well for gaming, music and blocking out the sounds of my siblings.

GET THEM ALL!!!! Just kidding ^^^^^but ^^^^^not ^^^^^really

If you are interested in the story I would recommend getting Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary first in order to get an idea of what Halo is about. It is basically the first Halo game, Halo: Combat Evolved, but remastered for the Xbox 360 on its 10 year anniversary. It has the entire first game's campaign and a multiplayer portion using the engine from Halo: Reach (we'll get to that in a moment).

If you are still interested in the story, go for Halo 2 next. It is for the original Xbox, but is also compatible with the 360 so you can play the campaign. It no longer has online multiplayer, though, so it is only good for local custom games and the campaign.

If you purchased Halo 2 you are probably interested enough in the Halo universe to continue the Master Chief's story. The next game will be Halo 3. Halo 3 is a great game and still has online multiplayer, though it is fairly sparse right now.

Note: Halo 3 will become available for free download on July 1st if you have Xbox Live Gold.

Halo 4 is the next game in line that follows the story of the Master Chief, however, there are two other games that were released between them.

Halo 3:ODST is one of these two games. It takes place during the events of Halo 2, but you play as a normal soldier rather than the Master Chief who is a Spartan. Spartans are basically supersoldiers. Normal humans who were augmented to be faster, stronger, and smarter than normal people. It is a fun game and comes with the Halo 3: ODST campaign and a second disc that contains all the multiplayer maps for Halo 3 which allows you to play Halo 3 online.

The other game is Reach. In Halo: Reach you play as a Spartan supersoldier, but not the Master Chief. This game takes places chronologically before the first Halo game, Halo: CE, but was released in 2010. It still has a decent multiplayer population, but I am not sure if is more than Halo 4.

The final game is Halo 4, the newest in the series. It follows the story of the Master Chief after Halo 3, and I believe it has the most populated multiplayer as of right now. Though, the numbers are still fairly low compared to other shooter games out there. This will be the game you will want if you are only interested in online play.

----

Too Long Didn't Read

If you are interested in campaign and storyline go for:

  • Halo: CEA

  • Halo 2

  • Halo 3

  • Halo 4

  • Halo 3: ODST ^*

  • Halo: Reach ^

    ^
Play these any time you want after Halo 3.

If you are only interested in playing online multiplayer go for:

  • Halo 4

  • Halo: Reach

  • Halo 3 (which will be free on July 1st!)

I would recommend Halo 4 over Reach, hopefully someone will be better informed on multiplayer populations than I am.

    ----

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! :D

Depends what you're in the market for, cost wise. I currently have an HRAP 3 SA and a TE Round 2 but I've used pretty much everything out there by osmosis (being a part of the FGC and all).

Let me do a break down of all brands (and sticks of theirs I'd recommend) by increasing cost:

Qanba's inexpensive line is really good but overall I'm not a fan of the Q2s, stick to the Q1/4s or Eightarc Fusion line.

$79 - Qanba Q1
$149 - Qanba Q4 (price direct from Eightarc)
$184 - Eightarc Fusion - Dual mod (price direct from Eightarc)

Hori is a great brand because they tend to take more risks, unfortunately they're also one of the more expensive brands.

$149 - HRAP V4SA (looks like a refresh of their incredible V3SA line for PS4)
[$199 - Hori Fighting Edge] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008OP422U/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B008OP422U&linkCode=as2&tag=tylersfightga-20&linkId=YDHUDOKOY242R3UP)

It's possible to find the HRAP 3 SAs still, like I have, but they're really old school in their size. Namely it's a pretty bulky stick and it's not really designed to played on a normal sized person's lap (usually on the ground, OG status, or on a table). The HRAP V3SA is really good, but with the price of the V4SA, I'd pre-order that instead. In my experience, stay away from the N3-SA, good reviews but I've personally heard nothing but headache.

Madcatz is a mixed bag, I haven't tried their latest TE2s but the line before the TE2 wasn't super great, but maybe it's because I'm used to heavier sticks.

$99 - Fightstick Pro (just be aware this is plastic body)
$?? - TE Round 2

That's pretty much it for the Madcatz camp, the TE Round 2 is really their only stick currently worth mentioning and it looks like it's hard to find nowadays. If you could find one in good shape for about $100, it'd probably be worth picking up.

Also obviously these are the bigger names out there. My friend has a custom stick and I've used a couple that work fine. Just be aware that custom sticks come with custom costs, but the good news is that you'd be able to fully pick your components.

Looking at all the brands together, I'd recommend (by increasing cost):

$79 - Qanba Q1
$99 - Fightstick Pro (just be aware this is plastic body)
$149 - HRAP V4SA (looks like a refresh of their incredible V3SA line for PS4)
$184 - Eightarc Fusion - Dual mod (price direct from Eightarc)

Hope this helps

I think you should at least give it a shot. As much as it can be frustrating because you don't have control over what other people do and they may take loot you want, etc., the game is also designed to be played in coop so there are a lot of cool things you will not experience if you only play solo, mainly in terms of the interactions and synergies between the different Vault Hunters' skills.

Like I said in a response below, the best way to do it is with friends but if that's not possible, be patient and consistently stay away from people who play like assholes (leave the game or kick them out of yours) and add nice people to your friend list in order to keep playing with them in the future. This has resulted in a lot of really satisfactory gameplay for me in BL2. Also, this subreddit can be a good resource to find cool people to play with.

Finally, as much as many people are ok with playing with you if you don't have a mic, it is something that really enhances the experience so maybe you could consider investing in one. You don't need to spend $100, there are more budget friendly options like this one or this one that some people will hate on but they work perfectly fine if you adjust your expectations to the amount of money you're spending and they will last if you treat them with care. Even this is an interesting option if you're on Xbox and I'm sure there's similar alternatives for other systems.

I have an X-Arcade Tank Stick and I'm mostly satisfied with it, but that's not to say I don't have issues with it.

The joysticks are a bit flaky. I've had to open the case up a couple of times to adjust the throw angle of the switch rods so that I wasn't getting misfired directions. The quality of the sticks also feel much less than my Neo-Geo MVS.

My other issue is that playing more than 10-15 minutes, my right hand will cramp from the layout of the buttons.

A couple months ago, I bought an arcade stick for my Xbox 360: http://www.amazon.com/Real-Arcade-Pro-VX-Xbox-360/dp/B0041S9U8A

This has been my first exposure to Japanese-style arcade controls and it's an amazing difference. I don't get hand cramps from the buttons because their layout is contoured to match the curve of your hand. The joystick feels very obviously superior to the X-Arcade's and I feel like I play better using it. The buttons are extremely responsive and take very little pressure to activate.

I'm sure it's diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks as far as control layouts go, but when you buy the X-Arcade product, you're pretty locked down in the experience you're going to get from it, from the look of the whole product to the controls to their positioning. That's a benefit in some ways, because it allows products like the Xtension Arcade Pedestal (which I use) to exist for those of us without any woodworking skills: http://www.recroommasters.com/Xtension_Arcade_Pedestal_Arcade_Cabinet_p/rm-xt-ped.htm

What would be great is if X-Arcade sold a controller that used panels like the MadCatz Fightsticks so that there would be some real customization options. (see http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/index.cfm?loc=products&cat=11 )

I've definitely seen this as well, and find myself agreeing with pretty much everything you said. I had a friend Gabe who when talking about a new game, the first thing he'd always comment on was its appearance. "Woah dawg, those graphics look sick!" While me and my other friend would wait till we actually played the thing and 7 times out of 10 the thing sucked. He bought these games without researching like OP originally, and eventually he learned as well, but it took him a bit longer and he'll still play something that looks super flashy to this day.

I can't help but get suckered in as well when a big title that I heavily enjoyed as a kid drops. Most recent example of this being RE6. I picked it up at midnight release and was super stoked that my SO wanted to play it with me coop.

First, the lack of customization completely pissed us off, it's like they extremely downgraded from RE4/5 and somehow thought they were improving the system by getting rid of all gun customization and instead having a small pool of about 20 perks you can choose 3 from to equip. (Speaking of perks, they seem to be a growing trend as well... they used to just be limited to RPGs if I'm not mistaken.) RE6's level design was pretty bad, 90% of the time it's go from point a to point b. There's tons of rooms in the game that are just for you to gawk at and pass through, zero interaction, just serving the purpose of simply being there and looking shiny. And shiny it is, RE6 is the best looking RE made so far, yet what's the point of all this awesome graphics when you can't do anything with it?

We beat the 3 main campaigns because we wanted our money's worth, and after we checked online we saw capcom say they'd release coop in a free patch (GGCapcom) to ada wong's campaign so that you didn't have to go through all 3 main campaigns cooperatively and then get to the final one and have to play single player. Awesome. But months later, we realized we gave even less shits than ever. We started it up, played one chapter, SO got mad at me for not sticking together, and we kinda just looked at eachother and realized this wasn't really fun. Haven't touched it since. The lasting appeal isn't there. What images of it left in my brain are basically just explosions, slick graphics, and overly cheesy cutscenes. None of this draws me back in.

Interesting note to end on here, RE6 came out on october 2nd, 2012, while skyrim came out november 11th, 2011.

RE6 is going for 19 bucks

Skyrim is still like pretty much 40 bucks

I've been looking for a good, comfortable set of headphones for forever, and still haven't found one, please reddit, answer my calls to the gods!

  • Budget - Approximately $60 or less, give or take a little bit
  • Source - Usb and/or aux 3.5mm
  • Requirements for Isolation - I'd like to still be able to hear if someone is calling out for me, but not every little noise outside my headphones
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? No
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - Large On Ear, I'd prefer them to practically not touch my ears at all, just envelop them.
  • Preferred tonal balance - I really have no idea my tonal preferrence, all I know is I don't care about bass, as long as it's not completely absent, or entirely overpowering, it's fine, and I prefer a smoother, clearer sound I suppose?
  • Past headphones - I have never had a pair of earbuds I liked, they always hurt, no matter what I use, and I've only had a few headphones that I could stand for more than an hour, but the best pair I've ever had is my current one, https://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-Universal-Wireless-Xbox-360-6304300630490063060006306200/dp/B009CL6LA6 these, the only problems I have with these are that they're just a bit too heavy, and the strap is a bit too tight, but the ear size is great, the padding on the ear is good, and the strap is comfortable other than how tight it is. Most other headphones the top part will hurt, the adjustable range isn't far enough, they squeeze my head too much (I have a big head, and big ears) or something else
  • Preferred Music - I'm not getting these for the sake of listening to music, at least not the main reason, and honestly sound quality is lower on my list than comfort, I'll mostly be using these to play games with friends and voice chat with them, but if that's not enough to go on then here's my music playlist on youtube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF589FAA9A28CFC90
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - as I just said, comfort is my #1 concern, as long as the sound quality isn't crap, I don't care if it's not great, I just want to be able ot wear the headphones for at least 3 hours without much discomfort. I'd rather they didn't get hot and sweaty, but I'd prefer that over clamping or any other painful sensation. They don't have to be a headset since I have a nice mic, but a headset would be nice too, so feel free to suggest either.

I'm pretty sure that's everything, so thanks in advance for any suggestions.
u/Goosebeans · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

There aren't any solid solutions that will be both device agnostic and inexpensive, unfortunately. If you end up sticking with the X360, my favorite has been the XBox 360 Wireless Headset. Alternatively I had an extra set of Plantronics M Series earloop and eartips that I stuck onto the 'set and I find them to be much more comfortable / better at remaining in place. In all, with the optional kit, can run you from $25-$40 (sometimes you'll find a dirt cheap sale on the communicators somewhere, especially for like the MW3 edition). Personally I wouldn't go any higher in cost for an X360 solution, unless you go full-blown with an Astro Mixamp Pro and a favorite, high quality headset (expect to spend anywhere from $200-$500 altogether, or higher if you go really nuts).

A solid, dollar for dollar, PC / PS4 solution would be to get the SteelSeries v2 paired with an adapter like this ($60-$80 solution, depending). The DS4 has a 3.5mm jack that will support in-game sound as well as chat. The downside to it is it's a little underpowered. A lot of people don't have issues with it, but I'm rather picky. Thankfully the SteelSeries v2 only has a 32 Ohm impedance and an accompanying low-ish sensitivity level. So they don't take much to drive, but still -- to me the sounds for anything on the DS4 are a little muddy. To forego it, you would need to spend a little more money. Next step up, which works great for the PS4, would be the Sony Wireless Gold for around $80, but while it's a great solution for the PS4 I find it subpar on the PC. To get better sound out of the PS4 you would have to go the Astro Mixamp Pro route.

For PS4 you could also go the opposite direction in pricing and get the $12 PS Vita Earbuds and just shove those in the DS4 jack. While still an inline mic (will be picking up a lot of ambient noise) these are far better than what you can get out of the packaged earbud / mic with the PS4. If your soundcard doesn't support mic input via the headphone jack and only has the separate 3.5mm, can always use another adapter that goes in the reverse. Or just simply save up for a different headset for PC.

My mom and I playing the first few worlds of Donkey Kong Country on the SNES. My dad hated video games (I never really played much) but my mom tolerated them and was the only one to ever play with me. DKC was her favourite game and it was the source of a lot of bonding / laughs every time we played - especially the underwater levels that we were both particularly bad at!

I'm still a kid at heart!

and play DKC whenever I can!

I'd love Bioshock Infinite - it looks like such a lovely game! And fun too! :)

Thanks for the contest! :) <3

So, the only game I have on my WL right now is Kerbal Space Program, so I would have to find one I want more than that (I also have GTAV on there, but I'm still holding off pre-ordering it for lack of money.. Uugh)

I have been playing a LOT of MLB The Show lately (I absolutely love baseball, and I'm very into this game). But that's not what I wanted to suggest. I was going to suggest opening up the archives a bit, and playing some GT5. Seriously. This game pisses excellence every morning when it wakes up. It's offices smell of rich mahogany. It's actually banned in most countries. There are endless amounts of things to do. You can play it casually and just have fun racing, go all out and use it like a real driving simulator (chair, wheel, pedals, etc), or anything in between. There's STILL new challenges every week, expansion packs of cars, lots of A and B-spec races (you race, and you manage a racer), tons of cars to win, special races, and even go karts. What other racing game allows you to get the real feel of racing, and the arcade feel of GO-KARTS?!?!?

It's seriously a great game. I wasted 4-5 hours a day for about a month playing this game because there's so much to do/see.

I'd definitely like to get the GTAV pre-order done and over with, but Kerbal Space Program (it's actually on steam) seems to be all the rage right now.

My highest priority item on my apartment list is this couch because I'm moving into my own place soon and don't currently have a place to sit....so yeah....thats....thats an issue.

My highest priority item on my painting list is this book because I really enjoy oil painting and want to learn how to get better at it!

My higest priority item on my cats list is this cat scratcher because my current one is falling apart and I feel awful about it D:

My highest priority item on my college list is this MCAT review set because I'm hoping to get into medical school and really could use this to study!

Finally, my higest priority item on my Add-On list is cat odor eliminator because let's face it, my cats stink.

Thanks for this fun 'discussion'

This sexy bitch right here, but I for sure didn't pay $160 for it. I'm sure I bought it for $120 on amazon in March.

Don't see a lot of people using it, but I really love it. The stick and buttons are about double the distance apart from each other compared to other sticks, and that's really helpful for me because I have big clunky hands.

I also ordered one of these when they were on sale, but I haven't received it yet. These are probably the most used sticks ever. Also super comfortable, but I still like the RAP better.

u/DaCh33f · 1 pointr/Cyberpunk

They were funded on Indiegogo a while back. They were initially made by Axent Wear, but there's been loads of other companies making them since. Axent probably has the highest quality Cat-earred headphones on the market as a result, but they still aren't great headphones. They're more for aesthetics than anything.

You can find their official distributor here. I definitely wouldn't recommend them though.

As for ones without cat ears, they tend to be headsets rather than straight headphones, so they're usually pretty cheap when it comes to audio quality as well. You can find light up headsets of all kinds at most electronic stores like Best Buy.

Afterglow is probably the best I can think of quality wise. You can find them here on Amazon.

u/FlyingRock · 1 pointr/Games

I play both console and PC, there's serious positives and negatives to both but I want to set a few things straight.

controllers, keep in mind this is the equivalent of buying a mouse and keyboard for PC gaming and Alot of PC gamers own $50+ mice/keyboards.

Yes first party Wireless controllers are $50 new, but they're usually on sale for $40 or less wired are $40 new but again usually on sale, I got mine a few months ago for $25

Also there's some decent enough third party controllers that cost less such as afterglow And some that cost a little more This is Xbox prices mind you, they're the more expensive of the two and there's considerably less third party support on the Xbox

Headsets

The best (in my opinion) mono set for the Xbox is $10 But usable ones are as cheap as [$5] (http://www.amazon.com/KMD-Xbox-360-Live-Gaming-Headset/dp/B003A71XKQ/ref=pd_cp_e_0). Stereo headsets cost a bit more at $30 and up but thats the same on the PC too.

Also console games drop in price relatively quickly with one exception, the COD series.

Otherwise I agree with you.

Well, I wouldn't recommend a shooter for consoles. First person shooters are meant for PC... in my opinion, of course. BF3 for PC is tons and tons of fun.

Seeing as your mac can't handle too much, I suppose I'll make some console recommendations.

Do you like racing games? Forza 4 is great, especially with this racing wheel.

MX vs. ATV Alive is awesome if you are into motocross.

Socom 4 for PS3 is pretty fun online as well. Great third-person shooter, but may take a little getting used to. I just like it because I played the original Socom on PS2 and it does a good job sticking to the same sort of style of gameplay.

I was playing F1 2010 and 2012 with a Wireless Speed Wheel ... way better than a controller, but a bit awkward without the feedback. The wheel is miles ahead....since I'm a windows xp hold out till my next computer build (hopefully early next year) I'm limited by the games I can play, but live for speed and F1 2011 are pretty awesome. I didn't think I'd have fun playing euro truck simulator (who would?), but it's pretty awesome...I find myself taking racing lines on the freeways trying not to flip the truck.

I've only really had experience with a couple of Hori sticks and the latest Madcatz te, as well as some custom ones I modded. You have a lot more options on PC, but as for quality I'm not really sure. I know there are some Qanba PC sticks for around $80, but I can't vouch for the quality, although the ratings are pretty good on [Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BXPIO1S/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_YWr7wbJ230K0F)

The buttons and stick might not be of the greatest quality, but it's a good start and I assume some of the high ratings come from being [easy to mod] (https://youtu.be/FllbddE4zes) but for that you'd need to buy new buttons and new stick.

If I were in your position, I'd opt for getting something of decent quality now with the intent to mod it later when you really get a feel for using a stick and get your execution down. And if I didn't want to mod, I'd wait a bit longer or mow a couple lawns and opt for a nice [Hori] [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SULMRI4/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_y8r7wb9MQ71NQ) or a better quality [Qanba] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007SGGLZW/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_39r7wb7K0TS7Y)
Either way, there's still a learning curve when switching peripherals so keep that in mind

There are two different ones I'm really wanting to play - Minecraft and L.A. Noire. Either one would be AMAZING.

Everyone's been playing minecraft and loving it. I played the demo and it was a ton of fun but didn't give me a chance to really get into building anything. I want to build a CASTLE and try and make some really cool outlying city.

LA Noire - Who doesn't want to be a Detective?? And with the amazing facial animations, that game looks like it would be a shit ton of fun.

Eggplant Wizard - Thank you so much for the contest!!

> If you don't want other devices brought into the argument, don't use the argument of 'I can do a lot more on PC'. Obviously it's going to bloat into discussion of 'what should I have in house' rather than what should I game on...

Read context, that is an argument against consoles and none of what you've said pertains to it. It won't go in a discussion of "what should I have in house" since PC vs Console is discussion of just that, PC vs Console. It's like if two people are talking about which car is better then one person goes on to say bicycles are better for your health because the discussion went onto safety/health. Even if it doesn't relate to the PC vs Console discussion, your arguments don't make sense. I've already mentioned and detailed why your argument doesn't make sense so you or whomever can read what's already been typed.

> I don't want to brag: I own quite a few devices (well, I don't have Xbox One - other than that I have all the bases covered). Despite having a top of the line PC, and even having DYI Steam Box. I still find myself using PS4 quite a lot for multi-platform titles. It's not marketing when your mates come around with bunch of beer and you drink your ass off while playing FIFA. I tried it with PC at the turn of generation, next day when I sobered up I drove to store and bought PS4... What else? CoD is a console-only series for me. Same goes for pretty much every racing game (rFactor excluded)... Just to name few examples.

Ok but that doesn't mean consoles are objectively better, your points are subjective which means nothing if you want to compare facts. Sorry if that sounded harsh but so far you've only provided subjective arguments and irrational counterpoints. I can connect my PC to my TV, controllers to my PC and play FIFA on my PC so why would I spend an additional $400 + tax when I can already do that on my PC? If you want to play on the couch and that seems to be the preference for how you play, that's ok. You can do that for both PC and consoles but PCs are objectively better in most, if not everything a console can do. That is why there is an argument with "PCs can do everything a console can do and more", im not just saying it out my ass for the sake of discussion. That is also why I'm refuting your arguments since it makes no sense and contributes to nothing.

> You'd be surprised how much the Steam's cut is. It's less than what the retailer/importer/publisher would get, but still it's not as great as you paint it. There are other benefits for devs - the fact you actually can sell the game is among them.

No I'm not surprised, how do you think indie devs survive like the team that made the Metro: 2033? It's still better in both profits and the control of your own game than trying to get a publisher like EA to agree to sell your game then have them take control of the development of your own game. I'd rather give devs more tools and control of how they publish their game instead of worry about upholding to stockholders expectations. Why are you under the impression that selling games on Steam or Amazon is not that much better compared to retailers like Gamestop when it actually is?

> I'd be hard pressed to find a 1 or more year old game on Steam that's priced equally to console counterpart. That's how it works where I live, although YMMV. Regardless, remember the USofA is not the only place on Earth where gaming happens...

Yeah they're not equal, Steam version or any online PC version will cost less.

PC Tomb Raider:

Steam: $19.99
Amazon: $19.99 and on discount for $7.99 link

Console xbox360/ps3:

xbox360: $19.99 on discount for $17.16
PS3: $49.48

Console Xbone/PS4 (Definitive Edition)

XBone: $41.42
PS4: $52.99

Bioshock Infinite: amazon link

PC:

Steam: $29.99

Amazon: Physical Copy - $39.99 on discount for $11.99, Digital $29.99

xbox360/ps3

xbox360: $19.99 on discount for $15.24
ps3: $19.99

This took like 10 minutes to look for including a bit of formatting. TR cost the same for PC and last generation consoles and $50+ for the definitive edition which is just basically coded for xbone/ps4. So console players have to pay extra to play on the new consoles even though they already paid for one already?

Bioshock Infinite is an interesting one, the PC hard copy cost more but on a bigger discount? Xbox360 is on discount too but is this what you call a discount compared to the PC version? If there was a Xbone and PS4 version, would those have been $40+ with Tomb Raider being an example?

PC games get discounted often in addition to price drops so not only are you getting cheaper games, you can bring out all the visuals at a better framerate than a console can dish out depending on your hardware of course. Even then there are results you can google yourself or go on buildapc subreddit that shows that computer close to $400 can compete with the PS4.

Talking about PC bias when being bias themselves really contradicts doesn't it?

I mean, honestly, I would like something like this that allows you to hotswap the layout of all 4 components.

In the current gen, I think the PS4 controller is the most comfortable and has the best buttons, but the XB1 has the best control sticks and the most practical layout, but I love the WiiU pro for classic games because using the DPad and the buttons makes it feel like a SNES controller.

I'm not sure how much it would cost to ship from the US to Canada, but the Hori HRAP VXSA Kai meets all of your criteria pretty much perfectly. I've got one of the older model, so the non-"kai" version, which just has the turbo switches set up in a different place, but they're basically the same stick. I've been using mine for more than a year, and even though the housing is plastic, it feels super solid, and like I said, I've got one, so I can vouch for its quality. It's also one of cheaper sticks out there, with all of the quality. Hi! I also have chronic pain/am disabled. I play Steam games with an Xbox One controller with the Windows 10 wireless adapter. (I tried the Steam Controller but it was bulky, not intuitive, and I basically hated it. lol. YMMV.)

I have my tower sitting in this cabinet, which I covered with this film to keep everything hidden. My husband cut out the back of the cabinet to install a fan / make room for the cables to come out of the back.

We used these cord covers to keep everything neat.

I use this wall-mounted swing arm from Amazon for my monitor. I push it toward the wall when I am done. (I put my chair/station in the corner for this to work.)

I sit in an IKEA Poang chair with ottoman, using this lower lumbar cushion and this coccyx cushion.

I use this mouse arm on the Poang chair, these cushions for my elbows, and a beanbag rest for my wrist (for when I have to use the mouse).

My keyboard sits on a shelf beside me and I pull it onto a lap desk (stored under my chair) for when I need to use it.

I also have a wall mount for my Xbox One controller.

I hope that helps! It took me a long time to get something together that keeps my living room still looking like a living room. :)

If online retail is an option for you i highly recommend this.

Sound quality is great, a lot louder than the standard 360 headset. it also picks up you voice quicker than the 360 headset so the first of what you're saying doesn't get cut off.

Comfort is ok. The headset is a bit heavier than the 360 one, but whats a few ounces added to that 20 pound head?

Wired with the same controls as the 360 headset on the wire.

Durability is great it seems to be made out of some higher quality plastic.

Value is wonderful, one of the cheapest on amazon.

Support is idk. i've never had any issues with it

ODST is a bit of a departure from the other Halo games. It's more open-world (though definitely not like Skyrim or anything) and you feel way more human (NOT like a genetically-modified supersoldier). Some people didn't like it as much, but personally I thought it was fantastic. There's more of a late night, low key vibe to the whole thing. The soundtrack is the best in the entire Halo series. Totally worth the $15, IMO.

Oh, and Firefight is hella fun. If you ever need to fill out your party of four, just shoot me a PM and we'll set it up.

u/jbigboote · 4 pointsr/xbox360

I liked the two original Xbox games a lot, so I'd say start with Halo 3. It continues that story. or if money is no object, start at the beginning with Halo CE, which recently got an anniversary release for Xbox 360.

Not counting the RTS game Halo Wars, chronologically, Halo Reach (the most recently released new Halo game) is the beginning. I thought it was a great game, I played it quite a bit, including the multiplayer, which I imagine is still alive and well. It's worth playing, and stands pretty well by itself, since it is before the Master Chief trilogy.

u/Sciar · 1 pointr/SF4

I'm not sure about what you're looking for but I just got that TE within the last week. I know you can get them in stock from Madcatz since that's what I just ordered (Although shipping times take a bit of time, use coupon code CROSSCOUNTER or SRKDOTCOM to save another 10% on their products.

Madcatz official store

Or if you want the RAP I got mine off of Amazon and they're in stock of both models PS3 and Xbox. Free shipping and <$150 price tags.

Other places that seem to be sold out but are worth checking out from time to time.

Canada Joysticks

As I said in the show though, FS's/arcade stick/joysticks aren't necessary. I'll get some footage of the controller player out there to show that it truly is possible.

Some reviews are as you say, but that is just a subset and halo 4 recieved good reviews from EVERYONE, even on sites that the reviews are based on user scores. It also got great customer reviews. You've just been on this subreddit to long not to see that. The only people that don't like it are the people that don't have much interest in the campaign and only care about multiplayer.

You can just look at amazon and wiki to see how good the critic and customer reviews are. Might surprise you to get out of this subs hate circlejerk of the game for a change.

yeah, the Xbox 360 S and Xbox 360 E models both use the same hard drive type, which at this point would typically be a 250GB, 320GB or 500GB drive in a special enclosure. I don't know if you can even buy official Microsoft drives anymore, these are probably all knock-offs (though the 500GB does say "by Microsoft"). If you play original Xbox games on your Xbox 360, I would read the reviews and make sure backwards compatibility is confirmed to work with the drive you choose. Sometimes when people make knock-off Xbox 360 drives, they leave off the partition that is required for BC.

If you want to use your own hard drive, it's possible, but takes some work and requires specific drives. I haven't looked into in years, so I can't tell you where to begin there

Lastly, keep in mind you can add a USB hard drive, and if you format it specifically for use as Xbox 360 storage, you can install (most) games to it. I've had a 2TB WD elements portable drive on my 360 for years. works great.

A couple things that I think you're missing are that games do get cheaper with age even on the consoles, so they're not always way up there at $60. I can buy a copy of Mass Effect 3 on the console for under $20 right now. I can buy Halo 4, a Triple-A console exclusive from 6 months ago for under $30.

As far as discounts from Steam and other sites, most of those are joint ventures with the publishers that could exist in the console space as well. Valve has come out and said that the Steam Sales are great for profits, and shares that data with publishers to get them on board for more. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo don't control the prices of games, the publishers do, and there's no reason to think that they wouldn't organize sales for their digital distribution platforms as well after seeing it's great for revenue. Sales like that aren't feasible in the brick-and-mortar world of game sales because of the prohibitive nature of organization and promotion. It's nothing comparable to loading up the online store and seeing "25%-75% off Ubisoft Titles this week only!"

Here's my reason for why the "two free games" from microsoft is absolutely pathetic.

The games are fucking ancient! Assassins Creed II and Halo 3??? Are you shitting me? LOOK! You can buy a used (lol irony) copy of Halo 3 for 3 dollars!

Here is sony's. They have been doing this every single month for a long time now. They release true powerhouse and NEW games monthly. Not two old ass games. Halo 3 came out in 2007!!!! Assassins Creed came out in 2010.

It's a joke and it's pathetic. Microsoft is acting like they are Jesus Christ reincarnate and all of us peons should be groveling at their generosity and they release old games... tired old games and act like it's so awesome.

It's not that they're copying ( even though they are) that's just oh so laughable to me. it's that they are doing such a shitty job!

It is pretty much exactly like the anniversary gift thing. Sony gives you ten bucks on your anniversary. Microsoft gave you 25 cents.

It's really up to you as far as which one is better, because no one can say for sure that stick>pad or pad>stick. As far as being dual compatible yes you can find sticks that work for PC/XBOX/PS3. Best brands is also another matter of opinion. I paid $120 for my stick and I think it was well worth the price. Most Eightarc sticks are dual compatible, not sure of any other brands that are. Here are some amazon links for some reasonably prices arcade sticks from Madcatz, Hori and Eightarc.

well i'd recomend you, since you want something under 100€, to go and buy a hori Real arcade Pro from amazon spain or amazon uk it's the stick I have now, it works flawlessly and it's perfect for a long term usage (sanwa FTW). my experience with a cheap stick (tatsunoko vs capcom fightstick for wii) was not good because Standard editions don't have good parts so these don't last long and a year later you end up buying another one...and that's not good (for me at least). if you want something cheaper you can get a brawl stick or mayflash stick (I don't really recomend these but there are really good players that use them :P). at the end it depends on how much you take care of your stick (my wii stick still works with a re-soldered cable and a few new buttons, but my bluetooth adapter doesn't so I bought a wired stick for pc :P)

I guess I didn't answer a lot of your questions, but the cheapest place to buy H4 is on Amazon. It's actually on sale for pretty cheap at the moment.

In terms of tips, learning the maps is the easiest way to get better. Site lines, common spots people are, callouts. Also, don't forget to use your nades. A lot of BF and CoD players don't use their grenades enough.

Afterglow Universal Wireless Headset. You can use it with your Xbox, or any other console that you may own (even your phone). I have one and it's amazing. It comes with three different sound qualities (normal, bass boost, simulated 3D sound). The simulated 3D sound is particularly amazing. For the price point that it is, it's more than worth it.

They can release it for free. They would have to remove achievements though. Several games break the rules and release DLC for free with achievements.

There are rechargable batteries that are not 3rd party. These are just the black ones, but they do have white also (maybe more). Both come with rechargable batteries. http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Quick-Charger-Kit/dp/B0041CWZEM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311452674&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Black-Play-Charge-Kit/dp/B000OYMYZQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311452661&sr=8-1

I personally like the quick charger. Get 2 rechargable batteries then you can alternate between the 2.

The console life is only halfway over. It's already longer than any previous console EVER! 6 years now and 6 more to go! No reason to make a new one if the current one's sales keep going up from previous years. The whole point of this reddit is so they can listen and use what sounds good. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/308963/ms-xbox-360-about-halfway-through-its-lifecycle/

Hope some of this helps :)

This stick is probably your best bet for your price range. Eightarc makes good sticks with all genuine Sanwa parts and it's dual modded for 360 and ps3 (and pc as well). Switched to a Qanba Q4 Ivory after about 8 months with my Hori stick and man I love it so much.

u/srylain · 1 pointr/GuitarHero

That guitar would indeed work on PC, you just need to be sure you have a breakaway cable since I couldn't see on that site if it did include one (https://www.amazon.com/HDE-Xbox-360-USB-Breakaway-Cable/dp/B0046RMJRU). That being said, it's a 360 guitar so it has guaranteed support on Windows as all 360 controllers do.

Going forward though, the amount of work necessary to really be able to play GH3PC is unnecessarily high and I would recommend Clone Hero instead since adding songs to it and getting it running on PC is vastly easier and much less of a pain.

I was just looking at this 250GB drive for $36 for 5 minutes ago for my son's 360.

He used a 32GB flash drive for a while, which is the max supported size but he wants Titanfall which requires a HDD for some reason.
The 32GB makes it a pain when buying games from the Xbox marketplace though as you often need to delete stuff to make room. I have a 250GB drive in my Xbox and it isn't full yet.

You'll probably also need:

  • additional controller or 3
  • Xbox Live membership so they can play with friends.
  • Copy of Minecraft
  • Kinect

At that age I preferred to hear who my son was chatting with online so I could make sure it was kept clean and using the kinect as the mic and chat through TV made that simpler.
    They're $25 at Gamestop.

u/delightfulmistake · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I can only recommend what I've used. You might ask some others for opinions.

I have a previous version of these:

They sound great and have excellent range, nearly my whole house. The charge lasts around 6-8 hours. The only drawback is the huge USB dongle. If I use them with my laptop, I always bring a short USB extension cable (right angle upward) so as not to accidentally apply force to the dongle sticking out the side and snap it off.

I didn't! Such a piece of garbage, as soon as I started using it everything was way harder and I found myself jumping all the time when I was trying to walk or dash... This is the one that lasted 20 minutes...

Once I got my hands on [these] (http://i.imgur.com/ICCos2M.jpg) I immediately felt like I had more control. There are also [ones] (http://www.amazon.com/Qanba-Q4-Q4RAF-Black-Fightstick/dp/B007SGGLZW) that work with both consoles with the same buttons and joysticks.

Though the whole "next-gen" thing kinda makes it look like you're wasting a lot of cash for an antiquated console(I have [2 agetec fight sticks] (http://i.imgur.com/N4IiSLI.jpg) for the dreamcast as well) I read somewhere that like the people behind Skullgirls made a driver for the ps4 so ps3 fightsticks would work on it.

They ALL work on PC so MAME and stuff like that becomes just that much more awesome.

If you just want something cheap the Xbox 360 Wireless Speed wheel is a good choice. It's not as nice as the other wheels mentioned in this thread. But I like it much better than using a controller. It gives me more fine control than the thumb stick. The triggers are a bit bigger, which makes it easier to control throttle/breaking. There's no lag. The only issue with it is it's missing the LR bumpers.

Plus it's fun to use.

Hori VX-SA Kai is what I currently use. It is an excellent stick that comes in a square gate (as with most). Retails for $130-140 USD although sales happen quite often.

Pros include coming stock with full high quality Sanwa parts, as well as a large area to play on. Also comes with a rubbery bottom that reduces the chance that your stick will move while you use it. The cord is VERY long, and is plug and play compatible with the PC as well as the Xbox 360.

The only con I have for the stick is that the buttons are VERY sensitive. It registers a button press as soon as the button is depressed (1/5th of the way down) and while others may prefer these very sensitive buttons I would prefer if they would activate a little further down the button press, personally speaking.

this is the cheapest good stick right now that would require no modding

http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Catz-Street-Fighter-Tekken-Playstation/dp/B0072A4KRA

there is an identical one for xbox / pc for the same price on amazon

you can buy the brawlstick but then you also have to buy the buttons and take it apart, you will save a bit of money, probably $30. i personally cant be bothered to take something like that apart but it really isnt that much work. I believe the base is a little smaller as well which i am not super keen on but i dont think it bothers most people.

one more disadvantage to the brawlstick is that it doesn't have a slant on it, i personally can't stand playing on something that doesn't have a slant at the bottom it kills my wrist. make sure if you are getting a madcatz stick it has the slant at the bottom like the one i posted.

this is what i use, i like it better than madcatz sticks, its way lighter and has a neat little compartment to store your cord (some madcatz have these as well i believe)

http://www.amazon.com/Real-Arcade-Pro-VX-Xbox-360/dp/B0041S9U8A

i will let you in on a little secret, 1 advantage to having a stick with 3P / 3K buttons is you can set them to no option and fake tech throws having the player beside you believe that you are mashing something out when in fact you are just holding block. it can also trick people into thinking you are going to quick-rise.

u/Warskull · 2 pointsr/gaming

Try using Amazon. Gamestop's used prices are atrocious, you are usually looking at $5 in savings. Amazon currently lists it at $50. I bet you paid more at gamestop for an incomplete used copy. With older games they either don't carry new or refuse to drop the price like every other retailer has. Games almost always qualify for free slow shipping, and if you start to use it heavily you can buy amazon prime and get 2-day shipping for everything.

The major publishers have fully embraced online passes, so you should always expect used copies to require an extra $15 for online play.

Gamestop sold that to you knowing it was crippled, they don't care about you as a customer, your loyalty is misplaced.

u/BitWarrior · 36 pointsr/battlefield_4

I feel that you've presented a very one-sided argument here. I'd like to attempt to address what you've responded with, in addition to adding some more flavor and perspectives.

Online Capabilities
Absolutely, the new PS4 will indeed require PSPlus, and it will cost $50 per year. That's a fact, but we'll get to how that impacts the user in other ways outside of its immediate financial cost at the next point.

Games
You've said that 95% of console games are released at $60. This is true. It is also true that 95% of PC games are released at $60. I have no idea why you wouldn't outline that. You immediately mention PC games go on sale, but so do console games. Heck, let's consider Bioshock Infinite, probably one of the most recently released AAA games. You can pick it up today on Amazon, brand new, for $40, but on Steam it's still $60. Console games always drop in price fairly notably only a few months after release. Bioshock Infinite will be likely $30 in about a month.

Which brings me to my next point, your $120 a year example. If you feel utterly compelled to buy a game at release for either a PC or a console, you're going to only buy 2 games in that year. You make some strange points regarding sales later on that is barely comprehensible, but allow me to outline a very important point. In that year, in which you're paying $50 for PSPlus and $120 for 2 games (if you're an idiot) or 4 games if you wait a few months for that $30 price point, you're also going to get a metric shit ton of games coming in from PSPlus. There's a great comment about it here, but suffice to say, in that one year time a PC and console would have those 2 games (at $60 apiece), but the console would also have:

  • Super Street Fighter IV
  • Little Big Planet 2
  • Demon’s Souls
  • BioShock 2
  • Vanquish
  • Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition
  • Sleeping Dogs
  • Borderlands
  • inFAMOUS 2
  • Just Cause 2
  • Darksiders
  • Saints Row 2
  • Spec Ops: The Line
  • King of Fighters XIII
  • Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One
  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

...in addition to a ton of smaller indie games. As a matter of fact, that list is 1 month old (gasp!). We should add to that list:

  • Saints Row The Third
  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown
  • Uncharted 3
  • LittleBigPlanet Karting
  • Deus Ex

...and again more indie games. Oh, and if you have a PSVita, you'd have a bunch more free games.

So that's a huge point I wanted to wrap up into the $50 a year argument, in addition to the cost of games argument.

And finally, cost of parts. You really failed to outline the TCO of a PC. You imagined a 7 year example, and there's no way in hell you're going to buy a "budget PC" that will be adequately playing AAA games 7 years into the future. You're either going to have to dramatically turn down every setting you can find, or the game just isn't going to work. The gaming rigs you need to make today to keep up with all the pretty graphics have a lifespan of about 2 years, 4 years if you really invested heavily early on. In the lifespan of that 7 year window, you're absolutely going to need to purchase 2 PC's, whereas you could sit pretty on the one console without any additional increase in costs.

    Parts
I hate to say this, but anyone who compares a console's components directly in line with a PC's components simply does not understand what they're talking about. There's a huge difference writing code against a machine that could basically have anything, versus a known platform, in addition to the huge benefits you gain from being able to write against the metal and having no layers of costly abstraction, in addition to the lack of an OS and/or background tasks getting in the way. This is an age old battle, but being both a PC gamer and PS3 owner, I can say with a lot of confidence there's no way you could get something like Killzone 3, Uncharted 2 or 3, The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls or God of War 3 to run on a GeForce 7800 with the same quality and framerate, which the PS3 is based on.

Console hardware goes a long way, far more than its PC counterpart. I have to upgrade my PC regularly to keep up with the games I want to play on it, but my PS3 stays there without investing a dime into it.

    Other Important Considerations
You missed a ton of very important things to consider, both pro and con, for each platform.

    | PS4 | PC |
    |:----|:-----|
    |Locked platform. Other players will not gain an advantage because they have a more powerful rig than you, granting them higher resolution, a larger field of view, or smoother framerates.|Unlocked platform. Players with a more powerful machine, multiple monitors, etc, will have an advantage over you. It adds an element of hardware into the mix, not just skill. |
    |No hacking. There are just no hacks for the PS3 for Battlefield 3. It simply doesn't happen. You can enjoy a completely hack-free environment.| Lots of hacking. Huge number of hacks out there, gets really annoying really quickly. Hope an admin is online. Hackers make my blood boil. |
    |No DRM. Console games just don't have DRM. There's nothing to install, the system takes care of that. | DRM. Gotta install Origin. DRM running in the background, stealing your CPUs. Personally I hate this shit. |
    | Controller. You'll get used to it, but a mouse is always going to be the superior aiming device. Been playing with a controller for years and I still get frustrated with my lack of precision with it sometimes. On the flip side, however, flying is way fucking better with a controller. | Mouse. The way aiming was meant to be. Flying is really weird with it though, you may want to get a controller for when you pop into a jet/heli, or get a real joystick, throttle and shit (extra points for style, but more $$$). Huge potential to look like a super-nerd here. |

Do any of you guys used the HORI VX-SA Kai as it came out of the box, square gate and all? I had a really cheap 6 button HORI stick as my entry one when I first started using them on 360, then got this one almost immediately after it came out and haven't felt a need to upgrade. I'm considering swapping the buttons out for all black ones but have never even opened it up: I assume it's not hard and hopefully there's no soldering to do.

Xbox 360 controllers of all sorts come with what's called a "breakaway cable" that will purposely disconnect when yanked on, since actual USB connections are so firm; MS doesn't want you yanking your console off the entertainment stand.

You should be able to find something like this without too much difficulty! (Or get the original seller to send you the part of the stick's cable he forgot to include.)

u/Yjan · 3 pointsr/xbox360

Had the same problem. Posted about it here.

It appears we must purchase a HD to fit into the empty port on the 360 (under the grating at the bottom of the console). I have my eye on this drive but am awaiting confirmation that it will work.

So Target has done this promotion before where you pre-buy a game and get $20 off a certain title, and, while some say is dishonest, you can probably get some of these titles for cheaper than the $30-40 that they advertise for. While I'm not here to tell you what's right or not, I am here to post game deals, and, well, this is part of it.

Without knowing what the "& more" titles are, I'll start with the ones that Target has listed in the ad. In order to get them cheaper, you ask for one of the games that's listed and tell them that you want to price match to a competitor's price. Target policy is that they have to escort you to the customer service desk to do the promotion where they have to look the price up on one of their iPads. Bring the pre-order card with you as they can check you out at the CS desk. I advise that you also have a few other items with you as this is where it gets kind of grey. Some team members will do the price match and promotion no problem, others won't claiming that you can't combine promotions (which is true according to Target's employee handbook). The issue in question, however, is if price matching is considered a promotion. It does not clearly define price matching as a promotions, so, really, it's up to the regional area if they will do it or not. I've found that having other items doesn't really raise any red flags when I did this promotion back about a year ago (you can then return said items at a later date for a full refund of those items making your final cost the sale sale price). Up to you. Anyway, here are the games that are in the promotion and their "better" prices at other stores (Current as of this posting):

  • GAME, console [Store with link] - The price at the store - promotion = total price at Target

  • CoD: Ghosts, PS3 [ Walmart ] $23.53 - $20 = $3.53

  • CoD: Ghosts, PS4 [ Walmart ] $37.79 - $20 = $17.79

  • CoD: Ghosts, Xbox 360 [ Walmart / Amazon ] $22.28 - $20 = $2.28

  • CoD: Ghosts, Xbox One [ Amazon ] $21.69 - $20 = $1.69

  • GTAV, PS3 [ Amazon ] $35.13 - $20 = $15.13

  • GTAV, Xbox 360 [ Amazon ] $34.91 - $20 = $14.91

  • Watch Dogs, PS3 [ Walmart ] $39.71 - $20 = $19.71

  • Watch Dogs, PS4 [ Walmart / Amazon ] $37.70 - $20 = $17.70

  • Watch Dogs, Xbox 360 [ Walmart ] $38.96 - $20 = $18.96

  • Watch Dogs, Xbox One [ Walmart / Amazon ] $37.22 - $20 = $17.22

  • Titanfall, Xbox 360 [ Walmart / Amazon ] $36.92 - $20 = $16.92

  • Titanfall, Xbox One [ Walmart ] $34.87 - $20 = $14.87

It should be noted, that if you try to price match against Amazon, they will do the price of the product that is both SHIPPED and SOLD by Amazon. The "Fulfilled by Amazon" won't count! The prices listed above for Amazon are those prices current as of this comment. Some games are the same price at Walmart and Amazon, both links have been provided just in case one changes

I'll update it if I/you guys find out any other games.
u/candre23 · 7 pointsr/forza

The game has a few limitations that I don't like - specifically no night racing, no rain, no dirt/gravel, and no open-wheeled cars. I expect Horizon will correct at least a few of these limitations.

My only other gripe isn't so much with Forza as with Microsoft. Forza is the premier, exclusive racing sim on their system. You would think that when designing a racing wheel to go with it, it would be fully functional. Nope. I got one of these, and while it's a great wheel in many respects, the lack of LB and RB make painting impossible and several game menus difficult-to-impossible to access. You would hope that the MS team designing the wheel would work a bit more closely with the team distributing one of the biggest games for the system to ensure compatibility.

u/CaspianX2 · 1 pointr/gaming

> the price of console games stays constant while PC games get cheaper.

Bull. Compare prices for Bioshock Infinite, GRID 2, and countless other recent games and you see that not only are download codes not noticeably cheaper, but they are in some cases more expensive.

> If the XBone could eliminate discs, we could really see a change in the market that would benefit us.

> I hear Xbox controllers work great, but they are so expensive comparatively.

How many controllers do you need? How often are you buying new controllers? The "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows" (includes the wireless dongle, does not include a rechargeable battery but does include 2 AAs) is currently about $50. Adding a Quick Charge Kit and spare battery is an optional ~$45 that you can spend later. Also, I believe that the wireless dongle allows multiple controllers to connect to it (I haven't verified this, though), so you can buy "regular" Xbox 360 wireless controllers for players 2-4.

Or you can get a wired controller for $34 and skip all the battery stuff.

I guess that's kind of expensive, but they Just Work^tm so you don't have to keep messing around with them or replacing them.

When I still had my xbox, I liked this solution. I had 2 controllers, and 2 rechargeable batteries. It's got a light to tell you how charged the battery is. Most of the time, it was just me playing alone, so I could always have the spare battery in the charger. If the xbox warns you when your battery is getting low (I honestly don't remember), easy enough to just pop it in the charger when you're done.

I'm kind of split. I do feel that the community generally does a better job of evaluating games than rushed professional critics who have to crank out review after review, and aggregators like Metacritic in particular do a poor job of capturing nuance, there are occasional instances where mob mentality takes over and one or two displeasing aspects of an otherwise decent game end up resulting in hundreds of one-star reviews (example: Mass Effect 3, which is mostly a good game with a poorly executed ending). I could see the Metascore acting as a hedge against these mobs.

u/zombicidalscientist · 2 pointsr/Games

This is a pretty shitty deal then. PS3 owners are really the only ones getting anything out of this and if you already own Mass Effect 2 and 3 you can buy Mass Effect 1 as a digital download on the PSN.

Amazon actually has Mass Effect 3 on sale for $20 right now on any platform. Origin was selling it for $16 just last month.

If you can wait until a holiday sale you can probably get Mass Effect 1 and 2 for $10-15 total. Amazon had each on sale for $5 last February.

Are there any recommended Bluetooth headsets that just go on one ear like the 360 wireless headset did: Xbox 360 Wireless Headset with Bluetooth https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FMLXW2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kuTJxbTFAA2WR

I'm not looking for a huge gaming headset that covers both ears. Just something simple I can use in one ear and hear myself talk. I'd listen to it for chat audio and regular game sound through my speakers.

that one gets good reviews... i need to get a new one too, not willing to put down 50 bucks though on a wireless. they had the regular xbox ones for six bucks yesterday (their pricing is so weird) back up to 10 today though.

u/mrkite77 · 12 pointsr/Games

what's funny is that it's currently $39.95 on the xbox.

I actually don't mind doing the laundry, it's the folding part that drives me nuts.

I love video games~

Every pre-order except for Steam will receive the synthetic burlap map of Skyrim. As far as where to get it, check with local game stores or place a pre-order on Amazon with release date delivery. I believe it is a bit cheaper on Amazon as well.

HRAP VX: link

Mad Cats TE. PS3's are in stock, 360's are not. You can also get them from the Mad Catz store online. Link

Finally, if you want both ps3 and 360 capability, you're out of luck for mass-produced sticks. There is the Qanba QRAF, link. They are very nice, and I've seen and played with a couple. I like them.

Finally, there's customs, but those can be upwards of 300 dollars.

u/LamanamanumiReborn · 1 pointr/GameSale

i got one of these

that I'm looking to move.

Let me know if interested and if you are, let me know your zip code so I can come up with a price shipped

Wow, so I did a search for a Microsoft wheel, and I had no idea they unveiled a new wireless on at E3 this year: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Speed-Wheel/dp/B0050SY0L2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317838166&sr=8-1

I just want an Xbox One Quick Charge Kit, like for the 360.

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Quick-Charge-Kit/dp/B0041CWZEM/

I have two external battery packs charged and ready, and when the one in my controller dies, I just snap one new battery block into my controller. Hugely satisfying.

Fiddling around with batteries doesn't come close. But with the new Xbox One controller design, I don't see how this old battery block design would work. Too bad, it was a great idea.

u/chubbysumo · 1 pointr/techsupport

Its not a PS/2. its a breakaway cable. There should be a piece that plugs into that that turns into USB. Something that looks like this

u/raojason · 7 pointsr/pcgaming

you need something like this

u/CrappingOnYourThread · 2 pointsr/gameswap

>Just for reference (I know these prices don't really mean much here)

Well, since you brought it up...

BF3 Used $22 +$10 for OP - $32.

Skyrim Used $36

$68 total - so it's fairly equal.

u/guttermonkey · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

For me it'd have to be Bioshock Infinite - I loved the first 2 games and am excited about the third. I've got a couple more games to finish up before I run out and buy it though (Gears of War Judgement is my current obsession).

u/LordLionheart · 2 pointsr/titanfall

sorry this is my fault on terminology as im typing to fast. I have the proper XBOX 360 HDD to my understanding. I have this exactly http://www.amazon.com/250GB-Internal-Drive-Xbox360-Games/dp/B008TP1OKI/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1397267293&sr=8-4&keywords=xbox+360+hdd

edit: changed my description to the right terms, appreciate the help either way

>So like right now, with no sale going on, Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite on 360 (just picking the two biggest games so far this year) are $37 and $40 on amazon respectively.

http://www.amazon.com/BioShock-Infinite-Xbox-360/dp/B003O6EB70/

http://www.amazon.com/Tomb-Raider-Playstation-3/dp/B004FS8LYK/

Those are both "on sale", notice the list price crossed out and replaced with a sale price? That's the normal price which will drop as the game price drops. Go check out skyrim on amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Xbox-360/dp/B004HYK956/

List price is now down at $30.

>Are they going to be cheaper on Steam Summer Sale? Probably, but they are not $60.

They have already been cheaper to obtain on pc than the "are $37 and $40" prices you've listed.

u/Audiovore · 1 pointr/gaming

That looks like it coverts the proprietary end to USB. Wouldn't a 360 dongle, do the same with less plugging? Although, I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they changed dongle connectors too...

u/areyougame · 8 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Well you can get the USB end of it for cheap

u/serfis · 1 pointr/gameswap

Hey man, got the pictures.

http://imgur.com/RBKuY2Q

http://imgur.com/Yutuuxd

That second picture is to show you that it is missing that piece at the end that connects to the Xbox. It's this part, the breakaway cable. I have another wired controller (my main one) that does have the part, or I can order you a part on Amazon if you'd like.

u/justignorme · 266 pointsr/quityourbullshit

Pssh, that's nothing I'm a small indie developer and I just created my first game. You can buy it right here. http://www.amazon.com/The-Elder-Scrolls-Skyrim-Xbox-360/dp/B004HYK956

u/Jarenien · 0 pointsr/gamernews

THIS is a better option. These bad boys last a good 35-40 hours between having to swap em out. I got it along with THIS for my two 360 controllers and I couldn't be happier.

u/soMAJESTIC · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

That's like the one I ordered. In the bottom back of your 360 slim is a little square tab that slides back and opens the hard drive slot, notice the similar shape.
It's not terrible for 30. but I figured I'd go big for 10 more.

It's a Qanba Q4RAF (X360, PS3, PC) just with custom art, buttons and a Bat top stick.

Here's a link to the stick pre customized:

I've got one of these (I bought with the Wii U launched). It worked will just plugged into the game pad with the mic cord. I've used the USB wireless part of it a lot with my TV, I'm thinking it will work just fine with the switch.

u/YoungvLondon · 1 pointr/ucf

They have them on amazon, and they're decently cheap. They're called breakaway cables.
