🎓 Reddit experts on xbox one headsets
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where xbox one headsets are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
The headset that comes with the console is good enough to communicate with people, but if you can afford to or you have some room on your Christmas gift list, even consider the Xbox One Stereo Headset. For their price, they are fantastic. Audio is nice and clear with a pretty decent frequency range and the voice chat is super easy to balance with the game volume. It also comes with the adapter that lets you plug any headphones into your controller and use them which is about $20 by itself anyway. So the one you get is fine to use and you will be able to chat fine, but if you talk a whole lot and want something cost effective but still very good, I would suggest having a bit more of a look into that headset :)
I’m sure there are a ton for more hardcore gamers than me, but I use the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and love them. They’re wireless but have a good charge life, charge quickly, very comfortable (I have glasses too) and you just flip the mic up to mute which is super convenient for me compared to old pairs. They’re also much more durable than previous pairs.
You can definitely find better, I’m sure, but they’re def worth checking out for a cheaper price tag. Good luck with whatever you decide!
I actually loved the GBA SP design. It wasn't comfortable for games like Mario Kart, but since I was mainly playing stuff like FF:Tactics or Golden Sun, it was fantastic. However, the GBA SP had a screen that weighed almost nothing.
I think you can kind of "test" out the ergonomics of this a bit if you get a phone-clamp to attach an Android/iOS to an Xbox/Nimbus controller. Preferably a bigger, heavier phone if you have one available. Maybe stack two of them to simulate the weight. See how it feels. Example clamp:
phone clamp for xbox controller (amazon.com)
I suspect it'll be top-heavy. The gains may not outweigh the disadvantages. But I'm just guessing, maybe it'd be workable!
FWIW, something like the RDS GoPlay grip makes holding the Switch in handheld mode very comfortable. It's certainly doesn't make it narrower (actually it adds some width), but it's significantly more comfortable than a naked Switch, and doesn't introduce any weight or center-of-gravity issues.

Regarding the headset, if you have the money, I'd suggest the Turtle Beach Ear Force XO Seven.
>I've got a pair myself and it's absolutely the coolest thing I have for my Xbox One. See, the Xbox One will actually send game audio over the wireless controller. This means that you can turn off or mute your sound system and only use the headset for both chat and game audio. It's been incredibly handy for me when I want to play a game, but my wife is asleep. Even better is that I can watch Netflix or YouTube the same way. The adapter it comes with has buttons that allow you to turn down the game audio relative to chat volume as well, so if your game audio is overbearing or you only want to use the headset for chat, you can.
>Now, there is a cheaper version of the XO Seven called the XO Four. It runs about eighty bucks, but it doesn't have a noise cancelling mic. Depending on how loud your sound system is, this may or may not be a big deal for you. Regardless of which one you choose, they both come with the stereo headset adapter so everything you need is included.
>You will probably have to update your controller's firmware before you use it, though. It's easy, and the instructions for doing so are included with the headset. Just make sure you've got a micro USB cable handy.
I'd also suggest the Nyko Charge Base for Xbox One.
> Nothing beats rechargeable batteries. Having a place to keep your controller and charge it is just awesome. I've had mine since the Xbox One was released and I've never once had any issues or even had to bother charging my controller in the middle of a play session. It's great to be able to set the controller in the charging dock when you aren't using it and have a fully-charged battery the next time you use it.
I ended up with the Plantronics Rig 800LX and while the actual voice monitoring is crappy, it lets lots of ambient noises in, meaning I can hear my Wife talking to me from across the room, I can hear my kids waking up from upstairs and I can hear my own voice.
I also have a pair of V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless, which have a more closed off sound (can't hear much from outside the headset), but has better mic monitoring....that said, even with mic monitoring turned up all the way, I still hear myself WAAAAAYY better using the Plantronic Rig 800XL headphones...and they are more comfortable too (compared to the V-modas at twice the price!).
EDIT: A little more info, the plantronics run about $150 (bestbuy has them). They are wireless to the xbox, but there is a usb dongle you have to plug into the xbox for them to work. That dongle has a switch between xbox and PC, so they can be used on PC as well. Battery life is crazy good, like 24 hours of gaming good. By far the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn.
Great deal on this headset right now that matches your price point! :)

I bought the XB1 play and charge kit - well worth the money. Comes with a rechargable battery pack and a micro usb cable for charging (which also fits a phone so you can charge it on the XB1 if you desire). Regarding the Kinect, I love mine and use it all the time. I highly recommend you try it. Nothing quite like controlling your media/tv with your voice. I walk into the house and simply say "Xbox on" and my whole setup lights up - I can change channels/music while cleaning too which is boss. Welcome to the club!!!
I have these. Love, love, love, love, love them:

Hands down the best headset I have ever owned is the turtle beach stealth 500x. They are amazing. 100% wireless, great sound, 3 levels of mic monitoring and tons of other features with presets and things. Ear muffs are kinda stiff for my liking so I removed them and put the cushions from my x41's on. Much softer feel. Battery lasts about 4-5 days when its been fully charged and that playing like 4-5 hours a night on avg. I also use them to watch TV when not playing games they are that great!

PDP Legendary - ive owned every new and old headset out there for the features and price nothing beats them.(i know i know but my gen3 A50 went back for these since the a50s are only good for stereo atm.) The legendary s are better then the regular ag9s
Tb 420+ have a better mic but cheaper build and are not very comfortable.
Cloud 2s are great as well and would be a top recommendation if you have a small head, they clamp hard and are wired.

I purchased the Turtle Beach Ear Force XO Seven headset a few months back and am extremely happy. Right now they're going for $99.97 on Amazon. There's only one wire that goes right into the controller, it's a comfortable fit (I have a huge head), the sound is top notch, and my friends all say the mic sounds crystal clear. I've got a few chat specific headsets from Turtle beach that I like.
One
Two
The first one I just got and haven't used, but I picked it up because a friend said it was great. It's got a cutout for glasses, if that's an issue for you.
The second one is the one I've been using for ~2 years. it's great, but it's starting to get janky. my xbox isn't recognizing a headset is connected all of the time. could be my xbox though.
Those are just the chat headsets, I've got a 5.1 surround sound system that I use for game audio.
Quality is great IMO. However as /u/MyNameisSkittles said it digs into my head as well. [Guess we just have oddly shaped noggins] Anyway I went and got the Turtle Beach XOFour and I am in audio heaven. The mic is detachable using a standard jack and the sound quality is wonderful, very dynamic. Playing titanfall with this setup really makes me feel like I'm in the game. /endrant
I highly recommend the xbox stereo headset its on sale at Amazon for about $60 but is a good quality headset for that price. It does game audio and voice chat and its pretty comfortable. When you don't want to use it, you can leave the puck in (chat adapter) and it stays out of the way, but unplug the headset's 3.5mm plug easily and without worries of breaking it.
I got this Seagate 8tb drive last black Friday for around $120 and it works great with my Xbox.
Also the Astros a50s are awesome. My wife bought me the Master Chief Editionwhen we first started dating 3 years ago and they still work great.
Astro A10sare also awesome. She wanted a pair of Astros last year as she plays with me but on a smaller TV. The a10s only require a wire going from the headset to the controller and they work great.
Edit-links
HyperX CloudX $70: https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-CloudX-Official-Detachable-HX-HS5CX-SR/dp/B07FVWJ6YR/
While it doesnt have a separate voice chat audio control, it has inline physical audio controls to let you mute your mic or adjust game volume on-the-fly.
I was in a similar position as you months ago, and got bombarded with recommendations for the Hyper Cloud 2 $95 (https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-HSCP-RD/dp/B00SAYCXWG/), which seems to be one of the most popular recommendations here. I dont doubt the Cloud 2's audio quality, but not having inline controls didn't cut it for me, especially with it being $25 more than CloudX's.
I hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck.
Wallet Friendly: Xbox One Stereo Headset
Best of the best: Astro A50 (has dolby digital surround sound and nice thumping bass)
Source: Me, I own both headsets.
This mic for Xbox One I bought recently and it's a great price: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1408815286&sr=8-2&keywords=xbox+one+stereo
I'm not really into talking in game chat but it's great for talking with friends and listening to game audio. Plus you can plug earbuds into the adapter too if you just want audio.
Turtle Beach Stealth 600s
i just got these and they are amazing. and only $80 at best buy. I did wish i sprung the extra $25 and got the stealth 700s because they also have bluetooth.
But even without bluetooth, i find these to sound fantastic. I use them almost all the time im watching tv/movies or games. My surround sound is barely on anymore.
I'd recommend the HyperX Cloud Cores instead for closed-backs. Same headphones, just without all the accessories, and for quite a bit less. You shouldn't be using the USB sound card anyways for audio quality, and you can spend some of the money you save on pads even better than the stock ones on the Cloud II's if you end up needing them.
Would still recommend something with a larger soundstage like Sennheiser HD558's if you're just looking to game; the positional audio advantage is actually tangible in many instances.
I got this one for my son, and it's pretty good value for the price. The sound is good, the virtual surrounds works well and it fits my giant head comfortably.
The only downside I see is that the microphone is on a stiff plastic arm and cannot be placed very close to your mouth.
I actually just bought the Turtle Beach 600 Stealth to replace my XO4 wired headset. Mainly because they’re wireless, has a great mic, and has mic monitoring. These hit all of your checkboxes for $89.
Bonus: They are glasses friendly.
Edit: Wireless support on Xbox does not require a dongle as they connect the same way your controller connects.
https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Stealth-Wireless-Surround-Gaming-Headset/dp/B071ZRTMXF
these are really good for the price and there are the 700 series that cost alittle more but i honestly am very happy with the 600 series
Afterglow LVL 1 Chat Communicator, certainly not the best but for the value it's pretty solid. I've had mine for almost a year most impressive and it still works very well.
These $80 for a nice pair of Turtle Beaches that plug right into the controller with no other connections. Comfortable, has a mic, and is perfect for chatting and gaming. Great starter headset, you may consider upgrading at some point, but for starting off these are perfect.
It's this type of headset and here are some pictures of it. As for Destiny it's this edition and basically new but it doesn't have the codes. I installed the disc so it's in prime condition. Let me know if you'd like to proceed with the sale or you would like some more pictures :)
Turtle Beach 420x and 420x+ are nice. I would look for prices closer to $120 or less before buying, unless you're in a pinch. Use camelcamelcamel.com for Amazon price history.

Newer model (adds "Superhuman Hearing," up to you if you want/need this):

--
PROS
Fully wireless, no cables to the controller
Long battery life
Reliable so far (5+ friends have them, zero issues)
Clear voice chat (me, and all friends with them sound great)
Comfy (although this is preference)
--
CONS
Price ($100-150)
Have to charge them (I charge nightly, although once in a while miss a charge and still OK the next day)
Only stereo sound (however you can still hear stuff "behind" you regardless, if that makes sense)
Takes up a USB port w/ wireless receiver
USB dongle is somewhat bright and blinks while not connected, can be distracting if you plug into a font port and your Xbox is in view
--
There are also two new headsets incoming that I'm watching - both are fully wireless but also surround.

Under $50 and I LOVE this headset. Well worth the price. Works great for PS4 even though its Xbox Branded.
Xbox One Stereo Headset https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Zr8-zbZD6F3C0
I’ve been using this for over a year now.
The prices and reviews vary, it’s best you get these at GameStop.
I purchased mine for $175 with additional insurance.
1.5 Hour Charge is 24 Hours of Audible Gaming.
The only downside I have is the fact you can’t adjust the volume of your party chat members, in-game chat, it’s fine, however, it’s like everyone is yelling at you in the party.
> -can I hear game audio and player communication through the included headset, if not is there a headset that will allow me to do that?
Not with the included headset, but almost all other headsets will have that functionality. The Xbox Stereo Headset is great and actually on sale for $40 (normally $80).
Yes, you can sell the AC codes on /r/gamesale or ebay/wherever.
Yes, and yes.
The x12 headset requires stereo RCA (red & white) audio jacks to get game audio, and the Xbox One does not provide that. So, you will need something else, and that "something" depends on the rest of your setup. Check for an audio output on the stereo system or TV you plug your Xbone into. If none is available, you can use the Xbone's optical output and something to convert it to RCA -- here is one example I found just searching for "Optical to RCA".
Also, the chat cable (that goes from the headset to the 360 controller) will not plug in to the Xbone controller directly; you will need the Stereo Headset Adapter. Plug it in, and then use the balance controls on the adapter to be completely on "chat", so that it only emits chat audio and not game audio.
Note that you can get away with just using the Stereo Headset Adapter to get both game and chat audio through the controller and the chat cable, but in my experience with the x41 headset, it sounds like crap, because the headset is expecting a mono chat audio source and processes it as such.
Honestly, for the price and hassle, you'd be better off just picking up the Stereo Headset. You'll get the same stereo quality of the x12, but it's just using a single cable connection to your controller, and it'll cost as much or less as the equipment you'd need to get the x12 hooked up.
The Xbox One stereo headset is actually a great deal and has pretty darn good audio: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK
There's the MS stereo headset for £30: -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00I41H6DQ/
I own one of those and for the money I think it's really good. It comes with the headset adapter that plugs into the bottom of your controller.
I've heard good things about this one, for the money, but I have no experience of using it: -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Turtle-Beach-Amplified-Headset/dp/B00KSVXSZU/
That one's a bit more expensive, but it comes with Turtle Beach's version of the headset adapter which has all of the features of the MS headset adapter as well as mic monitoring and adjustable bass boost.
This is the one I use now, although it's £170: -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Astro-Gaming-3AS42-XOU9W-369-Headset-MixAmp/dp/B00O9N404Q
I really like it, although I would say it's a touch overpriced.
Ive heard this is a great headset, dont know if this will work for you or not. I currently use turtle beach x07, its an awesome headset. Good luck. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IAVDQCK/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?qid=1452045466&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX220_SY330_QL65&keywords=xbox+one+headset&dpPl=1&dpID=41K9RkBzEFL&ref=plSrch

well you arent gonna get anything great for 68 dollars but try these [turtlebeaches] (https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-Gaming-Headset-Version/dp/B00D96BMV8/ref=sr_1_14?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1524868071&sr=1-14&keywords=turtle%2Bbeach%2Bheadset&th=1) or these [astros] (https://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-A10-Headset-Black-Red/dp/B071S9RGB1/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1524868330&sr=1-2&keywords=astro%2Ba10&th=1) but if you really want good stuff get the [a20s] (https://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-Wireless-Headset-Black-Blue/dp/B07BR8Z9CS/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1524868433&sr=1-4&keywords=astro%2Ba20&th=1)
I have the XO sevens made by Turtlebeach. So far they've been great. They are extremely comfortable and the sound quality is excellent. It comes with a detachable mic boom, which is nice too. I had a pair of the official Microsoft headphones before and they were garbage. The XO sevens are a bit pricey, but in my experiences, it's worth it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D96BJSO/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/190-1002778-6880635
unfortunately, no. i've heard good things about the plantronics. and i have used HyperX cloud II and mostly hear good things about any hyperX. i also have a50 (gen 3) and while they have good thump, they arent worth 300. i've used TB 800x and 420x and 420x+.
after xbox/windows added vss, HyperX Cloud II are for sure my favorites (maybe except for them not being wireless). i'm waiting to buy 1 of these also:
Astro A10’s have worked great for me, they’re $60 and come in a couple colors. Great sound quality, microphone, and the initial investment isn’t as steep as some fancier headsets.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071S9R9YB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_KzSPAb54FYJAK
Looks like I'm just going with the Xbox One Stereo Headset which is much less in comparison but much more simple in comparison but it's good because I am not fully committed to gaming on the Xbone yet. Thanks for the suggesting regardless!

Hope these help
Go grab this headset. $8.25 on Amazon. You don't have to chat if you don't want but being able to when necessary is a huge game changer.
Then search Xbox LFG til you see something that strikes your fancy. Send a request to join. Say hi when invited to the party then you'll more than likely be invited to the game. I for one don't like playing with someone who doesn't have a mic. I don't mind if you stay quiet while we're goofing off but being able to say "exploder skelly behind you" is a real help.
Well I have a custom Dell Inspiron 15 that basically has stuff in it to run games pretty well, atleast the games I normally play.
I also have an Xbox One (which I tend to stream from more than my PC)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M
Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60 GHz
7.88 GB Ram
And then I have this Turtle Beach Headset - https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Gaming-Headset-Playstation/dp/B00ZC3S818/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482631060&sr=8-1&keywords=Turtle+Beach+PC
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B072M6WZSY/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_Xfl8BbEQGDXQT
Now I am unsure of the limitations of the Bluetooth honestly but I'm pretty sure you can mix audio. The tb I have let's me do it with a cable so I imagine Bluetooth works the same way. Your pc just need Bluetooth
For that price, Microsoft's own stereo headset has pretty good reviews on sound quality and comfort. https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset-360/dp/B00IAVDQCK
Considering most third party headsets need the adapter I suggest getting the Xbox One Stereo Headset since it comes with one and the Headset + adapter is currently cheaper than the adapter alone. I bought one a few hours ago for 35$ but now looks like it went up to 40$, still a better deal. You can upgrade later on since you now have the adapter.

Hyper X Cloud 2 or Hyper X Cloud X. I got the Cloud Xs as a gift last christmas. Still working awesome.

Looks like an old Steelseries Siberia series headset, they are fairly cheap (the 200s are around £70) and they last for ever while being pretty damn good for their price.
Alternatively could easily be these ones as I cannot find any Steelseries headset with the cat ears on them out of the box.
This guy has on-and-off been sold for $40 (typically $55-$60) and is the best off-the-rack set of wireless 'phones for the money. The cord you see plugs into the XBone controller. Good stuff really.
Not quite the sound odyssey of those Turtle Beaches but for the econo player they're nice.
Can't go wrong with turtle beaches.
I've owned 2 pair and never had issues with them, I don't own this pair below specifically but I'm sure they are just as good they are the new entry level set.

I've also heard some good things about the Microsoft Xbox One headset.

There is this
Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Surround Sound Gaming Headset for Xbox One https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071ZRTMXF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_l5IKAbFZRVTK5
But its but its a big headset, but it shows there is 3rd party support for Headsets using the wireless communications protocol, or Microsoft themselves
Xbox One Stereo Headset https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TybBCbTGW88ZW
I've been using these for 2/3 years, love them. Comfortable as hell, great sound quality, removable headset adapter piece worth the price alone for using any future headsets/ear buds he may get
I'd say to just upgrade to something newer, instead of buying a converter, a new higher quality headset would be much more satisfying to have. Even the simple [Xbox One Headset] (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK) would be good for you.
Let me know your price range, and ill find some good headsets for you if you want!
According to Amazon reviews, the MS headset is pretty good based on its price and the features it offers. Here's the link
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IAVDQCK/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?pc_redir=T1
This might already be in the works. I preordered the LucidSound LS15X Wireless Gaming Ear Buds because they [at the time] were going to be the first truly wireless audio solution to directly pair with the Xbox. Sadly, they had to switch to a USB dongle:
>Xbox Dongle
>To lower the weight of the product we are shifting to an Xbox Dongle solution vs the direct connect Xbox Wireless approach. However the headset will still be 100% wireless.
What this suggests to me is possible USB audio support.
That said, I would love if I could just plug in a BT 4.0+ adapter and pair any audio (or mouse, or KB) with my Xbox using universal drivers. It's kind of sad that my Xbox 360 had a better wireless headset experience than my X1X has.
Sounds like the Microsoft branded one may be the right buy. (includes adapter)

Alternately, I'm using these and loving them
http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Wireless-Digital-Headset-Playstation-3/dp/B00B3PDHBU
You'd need the chat adapter for the mic, though. The HUUUGE upside to these is I can also connected to a bluetooth device and listen to tunes while I game.
The reality though... these are the ones you'll want (when they release)
https://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/xbox-one-headsets/ear-force-stealth-500x/552
I have the cloud core, which only set me back 60 USD and the mic quality is great, and comes with accessories that make it easy to use them as listening devices only without looking like and obvious games headset.

These are wireless
Just FYI, I submitted some questions about the product on the Amazon page and got some interesting answers, might be worth a read as far as PC connectivity goes.
My wife got me the Turtle Beach Stealth 500x. I'm not a super competitive gamer, but the completely wireless 7.1 surround and completely wireless chat is completely worth the price tag. As of right now, it is the only completely wireless setup for game audio and chat (Other options require the chat adapter connected to the controller) Also they have an internal rechargeable battery (which is nice not having to buy batteries or use rechargeable AA) that lasts 15+ hours and recharges in 3 or so.
Amazon Link
Any questions about them, let me know!
$79.99 and it comes with the headset adapter.
http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-Performance-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00D96BMV8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414302046&sr=8-1&keywords=turtle+beach+xo
EDIT: I have had these since they were released in march and they are great, very light and comfortable, they have decent sound considering they are a stereo headset, the headset adapter is also very handy being at the bottom of the controller as it means i can quickly mute the mic instantly or change the volume controls while still holding and using the controller.
Overall i would recommend this headset to anyone looking to spend under $100 but for people who want a 100% wireless headset or even a 5.1/7.1 DTS surround sound headset then this headset wound not suit those needs.
Comes with the adaptor you need.
Requires a USB plug for power (Not sure if Macs have spare USBs?) but has better audio quality than the Xbone headset.
Xbox One Stereo Headset. Great sound for the price, plus it comes with the headset adapter which is worth $20 on its own
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK
I've had the xbox one stereo headset for a year now and I've been pleased with it. It's comfortable and sounds really good for the price. It looks a little funny on my head but i don't wear it out in public. Xbox One Stereo Headset https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_c1WzwbADPKT1F
I use this headset for my xbox one and it works beautifully for skype and streaming. It comes with a USB dongle that it uses to communicate with the Xbox.
Heads up though, if you turn it off to charge it make sure you unplug the USB or it'll interfere with any wired headsets you swap out for.
I have the Cloud Cores and really like them. I used to work at Gamestop and they're basically the only headset I'd recommend at the sub-$100 price range. Everything else just feels cheap, uncomfortable, or poorly made in my experience.
As far as I know, the Cloud Stingers are the lower end option. The problem with them is that they're plastic, so they're a lot less durable than HyperX's other offerings.
On Amazon.ca, the CloudX is $85 CDN: https://www.amazon.ca/HyperX-CloudX-Official-Detachable-HX-HS5CX-SR/dp/B07FVWJ6YR/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=hyperx%2Bcloud%2Bcore&qid=1572484587&sr=8-7&th=1
I believe this version will include the y-cable you need to connect to a PC. The only difference then from the generic Cloud Core is the colorway and the in-line controls as far as I can tell.
Still a little over your ideal range but I swear by these. I've sold them to many customers and never had any return them. Mine have been going strong for at least two years.
I had the HyperX Cloud II's for about a year. They're quality for the price, but lack any bass or low end. However, their surround sound isn't as good as other options. I found that I wasn't hearing a lot of footsteps and sounds that my brother was during gaming sessions. I upgraded to the Turtle Beach Stealth 700's and it is night and day difference between the two. The TB's are a little more rigid, but I still find them comfortable to wear for a several hour gaming session. The bass is much better, and the surround sound is tons better, even when watching a movie.
Personally since I have the PS4, I chose the Playstation Wireless Gold Stereo Headset paired with the Official Headset Adapter. The sound is great and it's amazingly comfortable. You're able to plug it into cell phones, computers, and anything with an auxiliary input! It runs for $99, but I suppose that for $79 you can get the official Xbox Headset too, though it only works with the Xbox One.
PS: Amazon prices are MUCH cheaper than retail prices just in case you didn't know :)
If you have a Xbox one buy these rechargeable battery packs for you controller
You will save money on batteries and the battery life of a fully charged pack last about about 2 weeks with daily use. Plus you can charge while playing so no more annoying waits and quick dashes out to the shop to get more batteries. I’ve probably saved way more than £50 on batteries with rechargeable battery packs.
As for the headset the Astro A10 is a great headset.
It’s way worth it’s money as the sound quality and microphone is great not like the over sensitive microphone and shitty audio on cheap £20 headsets. It’s durable as fuck as well, mine has survived horrible abuse and it’s still in perfect condition and I’ve gone through about 5 cheap headsets including Xbox official ones. It’s comfy to wear too.
I have these and I pretty much love the crap out of them:

This is by far the best bang for your buck! UNDER $60 for the headset and the universal adapter needed for any headsets/headphones of any quality/functionality!
Personally, If I were you I would just go ahead and buy a new pair of headphones compatible with the xboxone. I say this, because almost nothing uses RCA cables anymore, and they are just out dated. Something like the Turtle Beach XO Fours comes with the chat adapter, and are made for use with the xbox one.
Now of course, you may not want to go that route, and if that is the case, then you will want something like this to convert the vga to hdmi (If im understanding how you have everything set up correctly). Then you will need the chat adapter to use chat.
I would reccomend going with option 1 of course, because you will most likely end up spending $50 anyway, just to setup your old stuff, when for a bit more you can get something new which requires nothing else.

I think giftcards and maybe a headset like this: https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Gaming-Headset-Playstation/dp/B00ZC3S818/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464846871&sr=8-1&keywords=gaming+headset+xbox+one+and+pc
Its not the highest quality, but it can be used on whatever platform. Also throw in some Steam/Xbox/PlayStation gift cards. This opens up to more people that would actually use it.
When you unplug your controllers, do you do it by grabbing the base and pulling it out or do you just tug on the wire so it pops off easily? I used to do this and eventually that messed up the wiring and I could only hear out of it but couldn’t talk.
As far as recommendations go, I think it would be worth it to drop the money on something decent. I personally use the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and I love it. Have never had any issues with it.

from looking at the pictures in the Amazon ad, it looks like this headset comes with a cable to convert the TRRS male plug into two TRS male plugs.
Are you using that cable?
please google TRS and TRRS for explanations
Alright, I've read a few forum posts saying that PC headsets will do audio but sometimes have problems with the mic through the controller. I have a found a pair of Turtle Beaches (Yes, I know, they aren't that great) that are reasonably priced and have good reviews, (specifically these) so I'm considering those right now. Plus, they match my Darth Vader Special Edition Console.
Hey I know it's been 2 weeks since you posted this, but I just wanted to say I've been using this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BF2H3CP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_Q3tXCb9BWQK9C and I like it alot

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GOK2HVE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_8hpWAb2SMP5C1
I bought these in either late 2016 or early 2017 and they’ve worked great. 100% wireless all you need is to plug a small USB receiver in to your Xbox.
This is heavily dependent on the type of glasses you wear, OP. I purchased my new pair to be as lightweight as possible, and I have very few issues with headsets now. Aside from that, these headphones are the most comfortable I've worn, and I've experimented quite a bit with Sennheisers and Audio Technicas. I also have no issues with the Microsoft stereo headset. Quite comfortable actually. I'll also echo others and say that TBs are generally uncomfortable. My local Walmart had all the TBs on display ready to try if you want to experiment.
I have the turtle beach 500X stealth. I love them.

To begin with, I'd rate most TV sound experiences ~ 3/10.

If you can spend $230, buy the Cloud II's and the MixAmp Pro TR, which gives you access to 7.1 Surround Sound and maximizes the Cloud II's potential. Phenomenal sound experience 11/10. https://amzn.com/B014H2YSEK

I've been using this for a week now. No complaints so far. It feels cheap though, but hey, 25$. Still comfortable after 3-4 hours. I don't regret it although we'll see how long it'll last.
Got it on Amazon. It is quite sturdy. Great for seated play but the hinge does not lock enough to lay down with it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BF2H3CP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Unfortunately, I have these headphones here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D96BJSO
The problem is that there is technically a wire that must connect to the controller itself. That's honestly most of the problem. haha. I might just have to fortify and buy a new pair.
EDIT: Thanks for your thoughtful response!

I use the 700 version which is very limited in its difference. These are very nice because they actually pair to your Xbox in the same way that your controller does. They use Windows Sonic which was referenced above and it does a nice job with footsteps. I think with your price point you can't go wrong with these. I will advise that I have a pretty large head and it took some wearing before I adjusted to the feel of these but I don't think someone with a smaller to normal sized head would have the same experience. No matter what you do its important that when you get your gaming headset you go to your settings and change the audio type to the appropriate setting(Sonic, Atmos etc).
Microsoft's Stereo Headset is about $44 on Amazon right now. I highly recommend it.
I relate but I bought a pink cat ear gaming headset and now I'm channeling the gamer girl vibe and that helps

Gotcha. If you have a really nice home theater setup and don't wanna shell out money for a full on headset, just get a standard Xbox One mic like this: https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Chat-Headset/dp/B00NGIYFOA/
It'll provide you chat audio and no game audio so you can still hear game audio through your surround sound.

Microsoft Stereo Headset - $59.57
EDIT: free two day shipping and $3.99 next-day delivery.
For a $150 I suggest this headset and luckily it's $50 off. They're normally $200
Phone clip
I bought this one last year and it works great. I bought it to use with my Steelseries controller but it fits the Xbox One controller just as well. No issues with it getting in the way of buttons and the clamp hold last the phone real solid.
Dainslef (New Version)Xbox One Controller Foldable Mobile Phone Holder + Xbox One Controller. No need to compromise!
Edit: Just as a heads up, you'll need to have an xbox PC dongle or an xbox one to update the firmware on the controller yo the latest version in order for the controller to play nice with android via bluetooth.
if you want a good quality headset get the HyperX Cloud Core you may have to save up a bit more though but it is so worth it
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-Cloud-Headset-3-5MM/dp/B010D74WHG
Microsoft stereo headset http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/headsets/stereo-headset you can find it for around 50 some places

So these?
http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-Performance-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00D96BMV8
Do I need anything else for these? Amazon says it recommends some stereo headset adapter?
There is nothing completely wireless atm. But in October there will be 2 from Turtle beach: the Stealth 500x and XO one. I believe the Stealth is completely wireless. Not sure about the XO one. If you're looking for a headset right now, Astro a50 and titanfall atlas would be your best choices. But those are not "completely" wireless.

I recently got a pair of PDP Afterglow A9+ and they work really well on the limited time I've used them. They feel solid and sound good. I've seen some negative reviews pertaining to the left and right audio switching ears. I've yet to experience this but a fix is simply to unplug the wireless dongle and plug it back in which doesn't seem to be a huge con. They are also fully wireless and I got them for $100 at Bestbuy here in Canada. Amazon.com has them for $69.99 right now.

Yes! If you have (at least +1) other speaker, you can group rooms together. The cooler feature is that I can be streaming pandora to my kitchen, I can be streaming spotify to my playbar (and I did this the other day) AT THE SAME TIME was streaming the XB1 in-game audio to my M$ Stereo Headset
I got Astro A10s a couple months ago, really liking them.

http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Stealth-Premium-Wireless-Headphone/dp/B00KSQACMM Heard good things about them. These are only ones I seen at or below $200 that weren't refurbished.
Yeah, they are about $20.. Amazon is $22
https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Chat-Headset/dp/B00NGIYFOA
I use this Turtle Beach headset, it's been working good for me. Plugs into the controller. $40.
I bought the Hyper X Cloud Core. But the mic isn't working, whats up?
Windows does detect it. I checked in the recording section under sounds. Asus Realtek Auto Manager doesn't detect it either. I'm confused.
I bought these from Best Buy.

Astro A10s
Really decent audio and if you get a Mixamp down the road theyll be even better.
Actually, the Stealth 600 from Turtle Beach is only $87 right now. The reviews are much better after the updates too.
It’s level of quality compared to the $179 LS35X may not match up, though.
I see a lot of people talking about Hyper X and no one is talking about the Hyper X Cloud X. The headset plugs in using a 3.5mm Jack and that's it. For $22 over your budget you can get him a great headset.
https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-CloudX-Official-Detachable-HX-HS5CX-SR/dp/B07FVWJ6YR/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=hyperx+cloud+x&qid=1550640141&s=gateway&sr=8-2
You mean this? It can't connect directly to a headset, it goes through the controller, either using the adapter to convert it to a regular 3.5" combined headphone/speaker jack, or using the official headset that plugs straight into the controller.
*** Alien Isolation and seagate backup plus were purchased using best buy reward points. That's why they were cheap.
this is a good idea but wireless headphones are oof a little too expensive (we are talking $150 US and above) for me I have an omen 800 headset and it's amazing but wired, can't use it for VR anymore, if I can't fix the headset Ill sell my headphones and get a wireless one.
I was thinking about buying this one as a last resource https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Stealth-Wireless-Surround-Gaming-Headset/dp/B071ZRTMXF/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Stealth%2B600&qid=1555905584&s=gateway&sr=8-1&th=1

These are the ones I have.
PDP Afterglow AG 9+ Prismatic True Wireless Headset for Xbox One also works on PC.
Is there any particular reason that you want 3.5 mm?
The regular "Xbox One Chat Headset" can plug into any Xbox One controller (both the original and the new S controller):
https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Chat-Headset/dp/B00NGIYFOA
Yep you are right. I was worried when I saw this post but I just checked the one I have and this one works, leaving the optical and hdmi output settings alone. https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Recon-Chat-Gaming-Headset/dp/B06WLGP8C3?th=1
I almost got the plantronics but I chose this one for the glasses cut-out, now I'm glad I did.
Yes. Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 500x
$33
$39 and $39
But tbh you get what you pay for, the more you pay generally the better quality (but not always).
Im going with the XO seven.
the amazon pages do a better job at explaining:
XO seven
xo four
one important difference is that one has surround sound and the other does not.EDIT: I was wrong, more details HERE
Kingston HyperX Cloud. There are three models, Core, 1 and 2. As far as I'm aware the headset itself is pretty much the same with all three, just some extra goodies with the 1 and more so with the 2. They run from $60 to $90.
Funnily enough I was in your same spot. My 1st party headsets mic died out of nowhere, and I would always hear complaints that people couldn't hear me.

You need to plug one of these into your controller and you can either talk to them in game chat while in a squad, or join a party and talk to them there.
Yeah, this is the guy https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00O9N404Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1478495004&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=a40&dpPl=1&dpID=51HVOHn2H0L&ref=plSrch
I used the turtle Beach recon open cup design for a long time https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLGP8C3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kgEaAbNRQAF6B and really enjoyed them. You can turn off all game audio and just hear game chat. I do use the turtle Beach Stealth 700s now, but only because I wanted something that was wireless.

Nice fallacy, but communication is essential to this game and to many others, there is no excuse not to have something as important as your controller.
If i get this Xbox one stereo headset is there a way i can get it to work for my pc as well?
Turtle Beach Stealth 500. They're awesome. Totally wireless and rechargeable. Oh, and they're virtual 5.1.
Edit: I added a link below. Some reviewers point to build quality and noise levels to be an issue. Personally, I haven't had any of those problems.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KSQACMM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_VBk1xb8HT752B
I wouldn't suggest a holder that has a built-in controller. You are talking about a MFi controller then and none of them have the number of buttons, joysticks as buttons, etc. as an Xbox or PS4 controller would have. Not all games will take advantage of the extra features of those controllers over MFi, but as soon as one game you play does you'll be kicking yourself.
So then your search is for a clamp of some sort to hold your phone onto the Xbox or PS4 controller. No experience with that but a quick search reveals they are out there, such as https://www.amazon.com/Controller-Phone-Holder-iPhone-Samsung-Huawei/dp/B07BF2H3CP
The one that ships with the Xbox One only plays voice chat. You would need the Xbox One Stereo Headset in order to listen to in game audio.
If you mean this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Chat-Headset/dp/B00NGIYFOA/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=microsoft+headset&qid=1573000981&sr=8-3
Yeah, it's my preferred headset, honestly. It's cheap and it'll probably break eventually. I've gone through two. But I prefer hearing game audio through my audio bar and just getting chat through the one ear.
There's no setup necessary. You just have a mute and volume control.
If you mean this:
https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=microsoft+headset&qid=1573001039&sr=8-2
I didn't care for these and returned them for the Hyper X. I'm sorry, but I can't recall what my issues were with it.
I don't know how fancy she wants the cat ears or if she wants LEDs but this is a relatively inexpensive choice that seems to check all your boxes.

Be sure to submit the secondipity link to amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IAVDQCK/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) at the bottom there's a link to report a lower price and sometimes they will price match it.
I have the older version of this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Recon-Chat-Gaming-Headset/dp/B06WLGP8C3/ref=dp_ob_title_ce?th=1
worked fine for me. I have 7.1 physical speakers, so a chat-only headset was exactly what I need.
Amazon has them for $150
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00O9N404Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1417471536&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SY200_QL40

I liked the XB1 surround headset myself. Good price point and fully compatible with no extra crap to go through.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00IAVDQCK
Heh, then you got to add quite a lot of pounds.
You're loking for something like the 500X Stealth:

You're not gonna find a 100% wireless headset for the Xbox One for under £40, or even under £190.
I use Turtle Beach Recons. This version.
Don't worry about the version, they work for all platforms. Inexpensive, and I've had mine for about three years now.
try these.
If you’re feeling spend go with the 700’s

I have this one and really like it. Not the greatest headset on the market, but I was able to pick it up cheap. Game and chat audio come through, and it comes with the stereo adapter for the OG controller.
Is there a difference between the PS4 and Xbox One versions? Amazon has them for me with same day shipping but they are randomly 2 different prices... http://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-LVL-Chat-Communicator-Xbox-One/dp/B00ZJEMQEA
It works both on Xbox one, PS4 and PC, MAC, Mobile. You should have double check the page before replying. I own a PS4 and used to have this very same headset before upgrading. Scroll down on amazon and you can see the entire information about compatibility.

Kraken, the USB powered or the audio and microphone (green and pink cable) one? If it is the USB, it doesn't work. If it is the two cable version, you need a Microsoft Headset Adapter and a Converter. My recommendation? Just buy the Microsoft Stereo Headset.
Yup, that's the one I'm currently using with it! I assume you mean this one.
