Mischief Managed! =D (All of this is seriously making me so giddy!)

  1. I know alcohol is banned on RAOA campus, but Butterbeer isn't! Now I don't have to traipse all the way to Rogsmead Village to get my hands on this delicious stuff. I can simply enjoy it by the comfort of my common room fire while I diligently study for my classes. =)

  2. The riddle, without its "hair," is simply a stick. And what is a stick but a weapon for self defense, really? You know what else is great for self defense? Pepper spray. Pepper spray is great for self defense, especially when you're walking around the dark RAOA castle and grounds at night. I mean, the attackers will be expecting a defense spell, but they won't be expecting pepper spray to the eyeballs!

  3. Technically, not the answer, but some think that it is. I sorta think it is. I mean it sits on the same place, serves the same function. I especially love this one- I mean, look at the beautiful color! Perfect for keeping me warm on those chilly winter days at the RAOA castle (on off-uniform days of course ;D ).

  4. Well, according to my school supply list for RAOA School, I'm supposed to have these two items. Luckily for me, they come in a two-for-one price pack, which is great for us students! This is essentially the riddle, as well, so yes, boring, but it's required! ;D

  5. The riddle is, at its essence, a place to store and sometimes transport things. Currently, I am lacking a place to store and transport cupcakes. I'm getting more serious regarding my baking, and I hate it when my cute little cupcakes that I worked so hard on get ruined on the way to my birthday pal's common room. =( This special case would be amazing for storing, transporting, and delivering my nummy cupcakes around the RAOA castle!

  6. The riddle is related to superheroes, yes? Well one of my favorite superheroes is Chell from Portal. She's not a superhero, you say? Well, I beg to differ? I mean seriously, just look at all she went through and what she accomplished. She's a superhero to me, anyway. It would be amazing to wear her super awesome long fall socks underneath my uniform robes! Not only are they just plain awesome, but they'll keep my feet warm around the drafty RAOA castle. =)

And again, thank you sooooo much for this! I'm so excited about all this Potterness!

I've never heard of anyone actually wanting to visit Wilmington! Lol excuse me for finding that funny.

Anyway, side note:

Dover, Delaware has a few decent museums, plus the capital building and the race track/casino (Dover Downs). The beaches are very nice in Delaware too; Rehobeth is the biggest one, but South Bethany and Cape Henlopen are more private and laid back if you're just trying to catch some sun.

Back to Wilmington:

The majority of the city is relatively safe during daylight hours. If you're not a drug dealer or gang member you should be fine in 90% of the city during the day time.

Maybe you should consider picking up a small keychain pepper spray. It's legal most places, and if you need it who cares about legality. If you don't need it, nobody will know, and you can feel more comfortable and safe.

I've been to Wilmington more times than I can count. I have a few friends who live there and I visit frequently. Wilmington has lots of bars, breweries, restaurants and a few decent state parks.

https://wilmingtonde.gov/

The Wilmington blue rocks are a fun minor league baseball team that you can go see, if you do go, go on a Friday night they have a free fireworks show.

Main Street Newark can be a fun place to visit during the school year. Newark is home to University of Delaware. UofD, or U.D. as we call it, is a party school. They throw big parties. It might be worth checking out. Grotto's Pizza and a few other places on Main Street will be spilling out on the sidewalk with people.

The movie theater in Newark is also on main street. It's a nice theater and the seats recline and are comfortable. A great option for a rainy day.

Delaware does have tax free shopping. No sales tax, means you can stock up on food or clothing for relatively cheap. Many people come across into Delaware for that alone.

Fun Delaware facts:

The multi billionaire duPont family lives in Delaware, and it's well known to Delawarians that they are inbred and intermarried and involved in some weirdo rituals on a few of their properties.

Former Vice President Joe Biden is nicknamed, Uncle Joe, by most outsiders, but nicknamed Creepy Joe by many of us here. It is well documented that former V.P. Joe Biden has a desire to rub, smell and inappropriately touch women of all ages. (Yes, that includes little children)
https://youtu.be/KQ-YjGmpO4Q
https://youtu.be/DwXweiRjckI
https://youtu.be/nvK-ze8_0CU

Joe has been called out many times for this and even the U.S. Secret Service agents will back up this little known story. (Some former agents wrote books describing their disgust with Creepy Joe and his perverted behavior)

Aubrey Plaza was recently voted out most famous person. https://youtu.be/WLeUt-jBE4Y

Delaware has tons of chicken houses, and sometimes you can smell them, or the chicken fertilizer used on farmers fields.

Many of us like old bay on our fries, except when we're at the beach, then we like vinegar on our fries.

Delaware was the first state to ratify the Constitution, making us officially the "First State".

Delaware has high humidity, and pollen. Summer can be really uncomfortable and muggy at times and if you have allergies, be ready. Some people who stay longer than a week develop temporary allergies, which completely disappear after leaving us. Not too common though.

Living here you get used to everything and take it for granted, but Delaware is beautiful. Lots of trees and fields, some lakes and streams, and beaches. Take pictures.

Have fun visiting and be safe.

Ok well everyone here is telling you the right thing in going to the cops. I read all the comments and I'm baffled that you think its a bad idea.

That being said, it is still important you do WHATEVER you can to stop someone from hurting you, regardless of the chance you have. If you think this guy is about to burst through your door with flying fists, you must do anything to give you an advantage.

  1. Always be ready to whip out a phone and dial 911. This is the FIRST thing you do AS SOON AS YOU SEE HIM. It doesn't matter what he looks like he'l do... Even if he's holding a bunch of roses, he has already made it absolutely clear that he WILL hurt you.

  2. The second step is to rush him. It sounds terrifying, but that's because it is. Nonetheless, you stand the best chance if you do this. He will be off-guard, or at least more off-guard than he would be if you gave him time to approach you, and this is your best way to gain an advantage early on.

  3. Use that TASER YOU BOUGHT (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007386H86/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B007386H86&linkCode=as2&tag=seldefnin-20) and zap him with 15 million volts of terror as quickly as you can. Like I said, you stand the best chance if you do as much damage as possible before he can react. The best way to do this is perhaps to hide the taser behind your back and fake a wide slapping motion with your opposite arm. He will instinctively guard that side of his body, giving you a small moment to whip that taser from behind you back and jab his exposed ribs/side. It is important you do not stop in front of him to complete this motion; it should be fluent through a single, fast lunging motion. You can practice this.

  4. Leave the immediate area and call the cops if you forgot to do it beforehand. find other people, even if they are strangers (but obviously be aware of stranger danger).

The key here is not to worry about 'getting in trouble,' 'betraying my friends,' or 'being uncool.' The first thing that matters is yourself. The well being of your body is the most important thing, and the consequences are utterly irrelevant in comparison. While there is still the fact that you barely stand a chance, appreciating the likelihood of the event happening out of the blue is your only option if he will ignore a restraining order (which is both very unlikely and very illegal) Let me take this moment to reiterate that contacting the police and doing every confusing thing to get a restraining order put into effect is a solution several orders of magnitude greater than the one I provided. I am telling you how you should be prepared if this fellow does find his way to you.

Here's the main idea: you don't stand a chance, but if you are forced into a bad situation, use a predetermined strategy to rush and zap him with a powerful taser in order to give yourself the biggest advantage. But seriously, in order to give yourself the best chance of staying intact, use your imagination to prevent the fight at all costs. Contact the police, a relative, your neighbors, even something like a church. People will help you find ways to protect yourself. Until this crazy situation is sorted out, you should not focus on anything else at all, including school, work, concerts, sports. The ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS YOUR WELFARE. That's the bottom line.
u/KeepingTrack · 6 pointsr/relationship_advice

If you think they won't react negatively, tell a teacher. Always go to your car with a buddy. Look, don't trust that his obsession is just some "Cute Puppy" type of thing. Look at "nice guy" threads in other relationship subs and this one. If you don't have a pepper spray or mace keychain, and a self defense keychain, I reccomend these.

It's a mix of pepper spray, tear gas and UV dye to dye an attacker for later proof of ID. Made by Sabre, the best you can find IMHO. And the price on both of these are insanely cheap.

https://www.amazon.com/SABRE-Pepper-Spray-Advanced-Protection/dp/B005CMZYQQ

$9.99

Cool, kitty-cat shaped self defense tool. Perfect for a chick. Or a manly man like me. :)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014L0WWK0/

$5.53

No, that's not overreacting. If you have Prime, total $16-ish plus taxes, 2 day wait on self defense tool, 5 day wait on the CS/PepperSpray/Dye spray.

Tell you what, even if you think I'm paranoid or it's excessive, get one. I'd get one each for yourself, and for your friend. Christians say God helps those that help themselves, so do that. Be proactive and respond to the situation fluidly, don't react during and after something bad happening, and chance being caught unprepared.

Be safe, and take care of yourself. :) You'll encounter many men like this in your lifetime, most likely.

u/paperwaller · 1 pointr/Shotguns

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020617361?pid=976347

That's a nice compact option similar to the S&W in size but a bit nicer. This would probably be the best looking on the gun and it's an appropriate size. Plus it's a decent brand.

Here's a slightly longer version of the same light that's a good bit brighter.

I have this same model that's more budget oriented but it's very very bright. If you don't like it on the shotgun it would make a great normal flashlight (just remove the mount) It's a bit bulkier though so if it's going on a shockwave it might not be the way to go. Since it's so inexpensive it's not too big of a risk to try it out since you can use it as a normal light either way. It comes with two batteries and the charger too so that's pretty cool.

I'm going to edit this comment and add more links after dinner.

u/rlconkl · 10 pointsr/PostCollapse

Great start! Feel free to x-post to /r/bugout, as they'll have some more suggestions. Here are my thoughts:

  • I agree with gittenlucky: if the first-aid kit is mostly off-the-shelf, you may want to consider adding some pain killers, anti-diarrhea, and any prescription meds you might require. Some people also recommend iosat tabs, if you're concerned about nukes. If you're comfortable collecting and using them, also consider minor surgical gear, antibiotics, etc. Maybe some sun/bug protection? If you're walking, moleskin and foot powder?

  • Although I noticed you have at least one pull-top food can, the P-38 can opener is lighter and surprisingly effective. If you're interested in lightening the load, they're available cheaply. Lighter than carrying cans, you might alternatively consider a stack of Datrex bars.

  • While the candles might be romantic on a calm day, I'd swap them out for a flashlight, head light, or a pack of chemical glow lights. Each stick lasts about 8 hours and is pretty bright.

  • Have you considered any defensive items, even if it's as benign as pepper spray?

u/sighsorry · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I've come into this late and don't know if anyone's suggested these things yet, but just in case they haven't been I'll go ahead.

I'm glad to hear you've called the police and that they'll be patrolling your area more. In the meantime, you can buy a door brace to ensure your door stays shut while you're home, and pepper spray to keep by your bed. I would also recommend purchasing a pepper spray to keep on your key ring so that you have something on your when you are walking to and from your car.

You could also buy a taser gun, but I have no personal experience with them and could not vouch for them personally like I can for a door jam and pepper spray.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's really scary to not feel safe, especially in your home, which should be a source of comfort for you. Take steps to make yourself feel better protected, and continue to call the police if anything else occurs. Do NOT hesitate to call them. I hope this situation gets taken care of quickly for you.

For magfed a chest rig is a must. I've been playing magfed and using my chest rig for 2 months now, and I find it to be quite functional while staying somewhat on the affordable side. I can't speak for other mags, but the TMC's seem comparable in size to my T15's mags, so they should fit nicely (if you chose to go with the TMC that is).

My rig includes:

u/Toomanyaccount · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

I carry a stun gun. It's legal here. I've never used it and I hope I never have to, but it is nice to have in my hand whenever I'm alone just in case. It also has a flashlight which honestly gets way more use. This is the one I have in case anyone is interested. Really cheap, small enough to fit easily in my purse, and I've never had it run out of charge (only ever charged it like 2x in the year I've owned it).

u/zxj4k3xz · 3 pointsr/airsoft

Kangaroo pouches are fine, but I prefer open top pouches like HSGI Tacos or Blue Force Ten Speed. They're a bit pricey, but 100% worth it. I use 3 rifle Tacos on my belt and love them.

Mutlicam on Multicam looks good, but so does Coyote Brown on Multicam, which is what I use. You can also use CB with a bunch of other camos.

If the speedloader is fully loaded, it won't rattle too much. It's when it's half loaded that it starts to get loud. I've heard of people using tic-tac containers to hold BBs.

On my belt I run 3 rifle pouches (HSGI Tacos), an EMT pouch to hold whatever (usually my barrel cover and a screwdriver), and a dump pouch

u/jesus_zombie_attack · 6 pointsr/Glocks

Yeah it's all metal so no plastic to break from recoil. Goes on and off very easily. Good bright light for a great price. His light looks like this one.

Edit2: Sorry, OP, I kinda rambled about this light on your post....

Dude, I just bought that Feyachi light, but with picatinny mount. I know most people here turn their noses up at budget gear, but for $30, this thing is really terrific. I'm not in combat, I'm not placing my life in its hands. I just want to be able to compete in low light competitions here and there, and this thing is perfect for that.

Edit: In case anyone is interested - Link to Amazon

The brightness is more than I expected. Took it out to my pitch black back yard when I first got it, and it was light an F'ing search light. Lit up the yard and scared away two rabbits.

Comes with TWO rechargeable batteries, only uses one so you have a backup... nice. Mount is lightweight and sturdy. The big negative is the tape switch. Real flimsy, and the cord is like 100 yards long. I didn't bother mounting it, just use the clicky-bit on the end of the light.

u/ihatereddit321 · 10 pointsr/washingtondc

To be fair, you can carry a knife (of reasonable size) and pepper spray/gel legally and in the metro.

The knife is more of a tool than anything else, but it's there if a situation occurs where I need it. The pepper spray is my go to. I keep it on one of those retractable kevlar key strings. I have yet to use it, probably because I look like the abominable snowman (or so I've been told) and no one wants to screw with me, but I'd rather have options if something does happen, whether to me or someone nearby.

Even though I expect most of the people posting here can take a single teenager, the problem is they're like raptors. They hunt in packs. I might be able to take two on, three if I'm lucky. The pepper spray helps incapacitate enough/all of them to balance out the odds to where I escape with limited injuries and hopefully, end any situation with the would be attackers in custody.

I really wish people would be a little bit more assertive and proactive about their safety. Take a self-defense class. Start carrying a (legal) weapon and learn how to use it. If you can't be bothered to do any of this, remember that a hard strike to someone's throat will bring most people to their knees.

u/burset225 · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

I usually don't write a comment when someone has written almost exactly what I was going to write, as I was with this comment, but I'd add that I got one of these from Amazon. It has a little clip, so that I don't have to take it where I know for sure I'm going to be safe -- all I have on the keychain at that point is the little clip.

Then when I go anywhere else, I take the pepper spray out of my purse and clip it to my keys. I don't know if it makes me safe but I can say it makes me feel safer.

BTW I'm trying to get my (cis) gf to carry one too just for her own protection. She says she will but she hasn't yet.

u/Helicopterrepairman · 3 pointsr/flashlight

Of you're like me you've been looking everywhere for a lanyard ring for your D1S. I couldn't find one but this holster almost makes up for it. It's secure but easy to get your light in and out. I'm very impressed with it.

I’m going to post this because this was the best 18650 light I could find on amazon. It’s a Streamlight . If I win I will give it to my mom. She has a good supply of 18650 cells.

u/SomeChicagoan · 1 pointr/bugout

OK, thanks for the advice. I'm definitely going to add the 550 cord. Pepper spray is another good defensive option that isn't banned in the People's Republic of Chicago. You've also sold me on the stainless steel canteen, so consider that and some water purification tablets added, too.

u/Not_Joshy · 1 pointr/Glocks

Got it for around [$280 on Amazon Prime] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BAHV2RC/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_QEOmxbXKP3GTD). There were slightly cheaper ones with a red laser (or ever cheaper without the laser too) but I liked this one. Installation was a snap and it functions great so far, now I just need to get some range time with it!

I carry this along with my ccw. The gel doesn’t blow back on you so it can be used in enclosed spaces and the gel gets a bit more range than most sprays. I like the flip top because it is easier to get out of my pocket and on target without some kind of safety switch. I’ve carried it everyday on my keys for about 2 years now and haven’t had it go off on me. Just tested and still sprays strong.

Found'em, it was two different Duracell 3xC flashlights, one 1000 lumen & another 1300 (maybe $15 on sale or in the us?).
Maybe true about the lumen "exaggerating," haven't seen a good reference lumens light to compare, but they're both really bright though. On YT a fair bit too

u/s0nspark · 9 pointsr/CCW

Sabre 3-in-1 spray is great stuff - small enough to carry in a pocket and has a good range for its size.

As others mentioned, some form of empty hand self defense training is also highly recommended.

Personally, contact weapons (stun guns, knives...) would not be my first recommendation.

I have the tlr4 on my 229 and I can't say enough good things about it and I also have the full size 320, but I have the Romeo1 RDS on it so I kinda don't need the laser. I'm opting for the tlr1 for myself. For what you're looking for I'd suggest the tlr2g. Kinda pricey imo but it's what you're looking for. Good luck brother

similar, but larger. My wife just bought them wherever, probably Costco. I think this is one of them: https://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Durabeam-Ultra-1000-Lumens/dp/B00O70XP24

I've actually never bought any lights other than the mini-mags and large mags, and one or two specific backpacking lights (ie a super light lantern I can hang from inside a tent).

u/PabstyLoudmouth · 2 pointsr/camping

I just got a Duracell Durabeam and it has a 1000 lumen output. I have not used this yet as it is still on the way. It has 3 modes high/low/strobe and runs off of 4 c-cell batteries. But I have trusted Duracell for many years and they have never let me down. It does not take rechargeable batteries. Fun fact: in America at least anyone can buy a low power taser without any ID or background check or anything. They only cost like $20 or $30 for a good one like this one on Amazon. Nothing that will drop an adult and make them wet themselves, but definitely strong enough to make that filthy Hobbit regret putting they damn toes on your armrest

Lots of stun-guns use a 9 volt battery and a pushbutton switch to create a 2.5 centimeter (1 inch) spark. So the answer to your question is:

YES, it is possible to make a spark with a 9 volt battery and a push button switch.

We have a few depending on how we’re gonna transport them. They are close quarters but they are the last resort. When it gets really scary is when there is nowhere to run. We live in Belltown and you could be cornered pretty quickly against a building. The taser is loud AF and a friend who is a cop says 5 seconds will knock you straight to the ground in convulsions. I told my wife, if you gotta use it ever...show them no mercy for you shall receive none....

My job also requires me to look into manholes at times. During the middle of the day, when your eyes are not dark-adapted at all, this requires a fairly intense light. That is, one with a lot of throw, rather than just a lot of total lumens.

I use a Convoy C8 XP-L HI for this, but that's too large to stick through your catch basin grates. The beam itself can certainly penetrate, and if the light is pressed up against the grate there should be no distracting glare. I'd suggest the U6-3A tint for daytime use.

If you want to keep the diameter below 1.5", the Klarus ST15 looks like a solid option. The Nitecore P10GT is slimmer yet with comparable performance.

I didn't get a good shot at his forehead as far as I know, but I found a frame from the original video back when this happened showing the pepper spray hitting his ear. He got a couple swings in (that all hit my helmet) and eventually knocked me off my bike before the burning and my swinging back discouraged him. I know I got a well-aimed punch to his jaw before he walked off.

Ultimately, I walked away with zero injuries and continued on my day after the police finished taking a report. I'd consider that effective in my book.

The little metal bands down the front are electrified too, if someone tried to grab it away from you. Even without having to use it, it makes a very frightening sound. It is a discreet size too and can hang on a belt loop without bringing too much attention to itself, but again, this thing is fierce.

Ive been doing some testing on this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008H9FLE6/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 light for the last 3 months. It's held up through over 2000 rounds of 9mm out of my m&p9c. Its still still very tight and very bright.

I used it for carry for 1 of the 3 months, but the bulk in my pants (insert joke here) was uncomfortable, so I removed it.

It will service fine as a nightstand light IMHO.

I've got this one with a flashlight. I have the light on during my run, and you can make the two points arc with a bright arc and crackle. I've never had to hit anyone with it just make the arc and noise.

It isn't a shooting one, it is handheld and you have to make contact.

The noise is really loud and I once held it and made it go off when I was first trying it out. My cat jumped so high from the surprise sound, I felt so bad I scared her that bad.

As a man, allow me to translate what you see into how we see it.

By dating him, you've shown interest. He has every reason to think you're into him. By being busy and making excuses not to see him, you've shown that it's not that you're not interested (since you would've just said that - you've been dating long enough to know he's not psycho) [again, this is his perspective, not an objective truth] your life is just hectic right now. Solution? Make plans far in advance so you can plan around that [admittedly, he should get the hint when that doesn't work, but if he's even just a bit clueless, he won't].

So as we can see, you've got a slightly clueless guy that is going to feel a bit strung along (don't feel guilty - this happens). Here's how you break up with him. Call him up and say, "I think you're really sweet, but I don't think we can take this relationship any further." Now, I don't want to make it like you SHOULD be sorry, but if you WANT to, you can add a "I'm sorry if you felt I strung you along." to ensure he doesn't try to harm you, if you're genuinely concerned about that. Overall, though, you need to chill. Most people aren't violent so unless he's given you a reason to fear him, you gotta live your life, friend.

If you're REALLY worried someone will attack you, carry a stun gun. I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FHDZGGM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3C7IRSYS82UNR Decommissioned a road rager when he felt that I cut him off and wouldn't let me walk away. (he's fine, it's not a powerful stun gun)

u/HelloGunnit · 43 pointsr/Portland

OK, here's the deal: I'm a cop who has a fair bit of experience with the whole "self-defense" thing. If you want your wife to be able to protect herself from some kind of attack, a knife is an absolutely terrible way to do that. Don't get me wrong, a good pocket knife is something that everyone should carry: they are super useful for opening packages, cutting up snacks, even trimming hangnails in a pinch. But when a bad guy is trying to do you harm, a knife is a really bad way to stop it.

The very best thing your wife can do is to take a good self-defense class and learn some basic situational awareness, because the best way to win a fight is to avoid a fight. If she really wants to be able to protect herself, get her some good strong pepper spray. A good dose of this in the bad guy's face will give her time to run like hell and get help. Another good, but more expensive and less reliable, method is a Taser. Not some shitty stun gun that commonly gets called a "Taser," but and actual "probes shoot out and embed in the bad guy" Taser. Stun guns just cause a little sharp pain where and when they touch, but the taser gives you stand-off distance, and actually locks us the major muscles of the bad guy for 30 seconds (on this model, at least) if it gets a good hit. That said, I've used a Taser X26 on people a number of times, and when it works, it works great, but about a third of the time it doesn't work at all. A gun is a last-ditch choice, and then only if your wife is willing to put an enormous amount of time, effort, and money into instruction, training, and regular practice.

u/ViviElnora · 2 pointsr/JUSTNOMIL

You should consider getting pepper spray and a taser for when you aren't at home, first step is to check if they are legal where you are.

If you decide to get pepper spray, this kind is a gel, so you don't have to worry about where the wind is coming from. As for a taser, this one appealed to me because it is designed to make it difficult for it to be taken from you.

u/PinheadLarry2323 · 1 pointr/CCW

I carry this stuff exactly for situations like the one provided. Lowers the use of force from deadly threat to simple assault. It's a good way to get someone off you for sure. If anyone has been pepper sprayed before, you'll know what I'm talking about

> Is it a stupid idea?

Yes. But it'll work, if that's really what you're going for.

I've got one of these as one of my many cheap junk flashlights, which would be more or less appropriate for 50' throw, which i'm assuming is about what you have.

Don't spend $100+ on a flashlight for this. You can rent an actual spotlight for less than that.

Also I won't ever buy anything from that website because autoplay videos suck.

u/jjfantastic · 4 pointsr/Portland

Arm yourself. That is almost certainly not the only potential dog problem in your neighborhood. Get a stun gun. The sound alone will send a dog flying off. If not, jam it in his mouth. Get two, one for his ribs too.

One dog on my walk liked to charge across his yard and lunge up at the top of his 3 foot fence barking and snapping right at my face, until I lit up the zapper about a foot from HIS face. Yowled and turned tail. Not a peep in the months since.

Another neighbor's dog got loose and kept coming into my yard, I yelled at it and it would head back toward its place, but circle on me as soon as I turned my back (I know that wolf behavior shit.) So grabbed the stun gun and walked out about 20 feet from it and lit up the zapper, same as the other dog- total shock and awe, tail between the legs and gone home at full speed.

Weapon of choice, its a flashlight too:

Look into a Gel Pepper Spray. I bought this one on Amazon. It has less blowback than traditional Pepper Spray, which should make it easier/safer to use(so you
don’t accidentally pepper spray your self or your dog).

A knife could be a decent last resort, but I hate the idea of using one when it’s unnecessary. That being said, you would be well within your rights to carry one (just look up the restrictions in your area).

I’ve not had occasion to use it yet, but I have a neighbor who likes to walk her large pit bull type dogs off leash. Animal control is useless (extremely underfunded) in my area, and seemingly they won’t do anything unless the dog attacks a person. Fortunately her dogs don’t seem to mind me or my dog, but they will cross the street to investigate us.

u/EWSTW · 4 pointsr/PublicFreakout

I'd take a Tazer, one of the ones that you have to hold against skin. The sound alone scares the fuck outta every dog I've ever met. I take one to the dog part to break up dog fights.

Ok, long time kinkster and electricity enthusiast.

TL;DR Thing 1 and thing 2 But most important is Folsom Electric I can not begin to recommend their products strongly enough. They are expensive, but absolutely and completely worth every penny. My Folsom Bi-polar butt plug when used with a good TENS control box has given more people orgasms than any toy except my Magic Wand. I have tried many of the cheap knock offs, save your money, if you want a butt plug or a vaginal toy, only the Folsum Bi-polar butt plug is worth your money or time.

First off, don't worry about barefeet on concrete, that's now how DC current works. It only goes from the positive terminal to the negative terminal via the path of least resistance. If you lick a grounded metal pole while being shocked by 10 million volt taser, the result will be exactly the same as if you were in a rubber room. It'll suck, but it won't "hurt" you any more cause you are grounded. AC current is different. (Side note, Lightning is DC current, and it works the same as a stun gun, it's just that instead of to little metal electrodes the whole earth becomes one electrode, and the whole sky becomes the other. It's not the electricity that kills you, it's the heat)

  • 1 In the end most of these devices are the same electronics. The big differences will be the range of the signal, the size of the remote, the type of batteries, and the power of the shock. You might check Aliexpress for some less expensive options. If that is in your budget, just know that those button cells can get expensive and will run dry quickly.

  • 2 Absolutely, but make sure it's steel, and not just chrome plated. In theory, the chrome plating could be removed from the cage and transferred to you by the electric current. (This is realistically Not a true concern, but technically possible.)

Also remember that the strength and type of sensation is inverse to the area of contact. Lets use a strength scale of 1-10, 1 being licking a 9 volt, and 10 being a Stun Gun. A jolt of strength 8 delivered by a stun gun will wake you the fuck up. However take the same strength shock, and instead of delivering it through two small studs, deliver it through a couple big TENS pads, and sure, there will be some involuntary muscle contraction but it's not gonna hurt at all. So when using a cage to deliver the shock, the shock will be delivered by the whole cage evenly, and you will still need a second point of contact. In effect the cage is the positive connection, you still need a negative connection. So you'll need a TENS pad on your balls or something, and if that pad has a smaller surface contact area than the cage, you'll mostly feel the shock there.

  • 3 Buy a freaking stun gun too. I can not tell you what a mind fuck hearing that sound right next to your ear is while you are tied down and blind folded. It literally becomes your whole world. Also, they fucking tickle like a son of a bitch. 10/10 would buy again. The shock callers don't hurt so much as they just surprise you. All those videos you see of guys falling over in pain? Either they are pussies, or they are hams, it just doesn't hurt like that. (or I'm a fucking hopeless masochist...shrug) Getting a stun gun to the big muscles of your thigh? Fucking hilarious, just be sitting down when it happens. It really doesn't "hurt" so much as it completely overwhelms your thought process.

  • 4 Basically, if you can draw a line from the positive connection, to the negative connection, and the line comes close to the heart, spinal cord, brain, or eye balls, don't do that. Again, that is just not how DC current works, and you could probably hold a shock collar to your chest over your heart and trigger it repeatedly without any problems, unless you just happen to have a diagnosed heart issue. But seriously there are so many places that are more fun to put it, I don't know why you would run even the 1 in 1million risk, so just don't. (but at the same time don't worry about one of these things killing/hurting you, it's just REALLY unlikely)

  • 5 Consistancy, consistancy, consistancy. Shock collars are fun as hell, but they are also a training tool. It takes real effort on her part, as she has to be really on the ball to shock you as soon as you do a thing. Examples, "Speak when spoken to" is a fun game, and will fuck with your head something fierce. She only shocks you when you speak without being spoken to. You will quickly learn all sorts of interesting ways to get her attention that don't involve talking. "Stop being so Negative" She shocks you every time you say something negative. This one is subtle but will actually have life altering effects if she is good with the training. "Oops, I dropped something" She "accidentally" drops something subtly in public, then shocks the shit out of you until you find and retrieve it for her.

Electricity is probably my favorite kink, even over chastity and sounding. Please ask me all the questions.
u/Is_anyone_listening · 4 pointsr/LosAngeles

Yes, screaming makes a difference because it calls attention to what the person is doing, and they don't want attention on it. Then they have to focus on getting the hell out of there before someone kicks the shit out of them or calls the police. Sitting there meekly does nothing. So you scream your motherfucking head off, like, "STOP TOUCHING THAT KID! LEAVE HIM ALONE! CALL 911!!!" You just sat there? Sorry but that's fucked up.

There are a ton of pepper spray options that spray in a stream--if they all sprayed you back in the face they'd be a pretty ineffective self defense weapon. Here is one that's cheap, sprays in a stream and goes on your keychain so you can have it with you at all times: http://www.amazon.com/SABRE-Pepper-Spray-Advanced-Protection/dp/B005CMZYQQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1406335047&sr=8-5&keywords=pepper+spray+keychain
