27. Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics Original Formula with 3 Year Fermented Prebiotics, Live Active Probiotics and The only Product with Postbiotic Metabolites, 60 Capsules

    Features:
  • HIGHEST QUALITY PLANT-BASED PROBIOTICS that are naturally fermented for three years with all-natural ingredients and 12 different strains of probiotic bacteria. Not grown in a lab with a single culture medium, Dr. Ohhira’s process simulates the natural production of probiotics. Fruits and vegetables are added seasonally to feed the bacteria which process this prebiotic material resulting, at the end of 3 years, in strong and effective probiotic bacteria and what are called POSTBIOTIC METABOLITES
  • THE DR. OHHIRA’S ORIGINAL PROBIOTIC CAPSULE contains prebiotics (the fruits and vegetables) with strong and effective probiotic bacteria (12 strains) and POSTBIOTIC METABOLITES that the probiotic bacteria have been producing during three years of fermentation, including vitamins, amino acids, short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) which are tremendously beneficial molecules containing immune system-enhancing compounds, detoxifying agents and many other beneficial substances for your digestive health.
  • THE CAPSULE IS CONSTRUCTED TO ENSURE that the contents are delivered to the small intestine and colon. The unique properties of the capsule together with the prebiotics allows the live active probiotic bacteria to stay alive for years at room temperatures, ready to go to work in your gut. This is an expensive way and the best way to create a probiotic supplement. A supplement carefully crafted over 3 years at a price per capsule comparable to inexpensively cultured probiotics.
  • THE UNIQUE COMBINATION of prebiotics, probiotics and post-biotic metabolites helps in microbiome repair and maintenance. The prebiotics feed your own unique bacteria. Probiotics help support your digestive health, immune system and weight loss goals and provide occasional relief from constipation, bloating, gas, leaky gut and dysbiosis. The postbiotics go to work adjusting intestinal pH, reducing inflammation, improving growth of healthy new cells lining the GI tract-providing microbiome renewal
  • There are other probiotics with higher CFU counts but if higher CFU counts were the answer then those probiotics would be super effective. You can get probiotics with 50, 60 or even 100 billion CFU per dose. Customers of those high CFU count probiotics still wonder, “did it make a difference?” Choose Dr. Ohhira’s probiotic with live active probiotics, 12 strains working together for 3 years, prebiotics to feed your own bacteria, plus post-biotic metabolites to start repairing your microbiome

I definitely think if you stopped in January, with beginning to try in May, your system should be clear.

I like to do a natural detox about everything 3 months (when the seasons change), for 3-5 days. You could add several different types of detoxing after you quit smoking to really, really clean up.

I add a spoonful each of bentonite and psyllium husk to a glass of cranberry juice. (It can be any juice, but cranberry is strong - to mask out weird tastes - and it's known for being "good" for feminine issues. And I love the taste.) It's super sugary though, and cutting sugars is a good part of a detoxing, so I'd water it down. Mix everything up well with a spoon, and drink up.

You could also add Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) into your life, if you haven't be acquainted already. It's amazing.
It's can be crazy disgusting at first, but the results are wild. It will absolutely impact your:

  • digestion
  • bowel movements (can cause diarrhea if you take a lot at first; work up to 1 shot glass of it)
  • energy

It's recommended before you eat in the morning and/or afternoon. A shot every morning will start to make changes within a day. Do half a shot to start, mixed with water. You'll want a chaser of at least more water, if not something juice to get that taste out of your mouth.
I used to do this as part of a healthy weight loss plan. It helped with my appetite and digestion, and honestly gave me a lot of diarrhea. I realized I was just taking too much, so cut back, and it now really helps if I'm ever constipated. You will likely really want natural and safe ways to help with constipation with your preggers. You will likely be crazy constipated often.

Lastly, a actual "detox" kit is always good. These are my 2 favorites, but there are more out there that are good. Inner Cleanse is the cheaper (1/2 the cost), and it's gentle. Like ACV, it can cause diarrhea. Read and follow the directions.
The other one is Raw Cleanse. It's more complicated and I found it pretty gross, but if you can stomach the process (or find a middle ground with it, like adding juice), it's quite effective. Both of these kits are different, but their ingredients have detoxing elements that nothing else so far has offered.

Also, I recommend drinking kombucha at least weekly. IMHO, this is one of the best brands for kombucha (besides locally made goodness). There are a few other brands that are good, but watch our for the sugar.

So, if it's not apparent by now, all of these detoxing, in some way, stimulate you to ultimately poop a lot. Trying all these different ways of detoxing will not only detox you up, but you can find one detox that you prefer, and then do that one occasionally. I do a super big detox, as in all the things described above combined, maybe every 18. mos - 2 years, and then just one of those (cranberry juice blend or detox pills) every ~3 months.

Hope this helps! Congrats on planning a family. <3
u/starstough · 2 pointsr/Hypothyroidism

Do you mean your TSH was 80.56? Or T4 was 80.56?

TSH is Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. It is released by the pituitary gland to tell the thyroid to release more thyroid hormones. If TSH is high, that is like your pituitary glad screaming at your unresponsive thyroid, so no surprise that your thyroid hormone levels were also low. That usually indicates that you need to increase your dose.

I have Hashi's and I take 146 ish mg of NatureThroid along with Hyperbiotics PRO-15 Advanced probiotics, B-complex with coenzymes, Iron, Magnesium, Omega 3-6-9, Selenium and D3-5000IU. I have tried to reduce the number of supplements I take but they all help. I sometimes take Zinc as well. I quit coffee and take caffeine pills instead and I am (not super strictly, but working on it) gluten and soy free.

The first time I took Nature Throid after switching from generic levothyroxine all of my symptoms were about 80% GONE. We increased my dose from 1/4 grain to the current 2+1/4 grain over the course of maybe 6 months.

What really fixed things for me was going gluten and soy free and adding magnesium and selenium. The selenium reduced my antibodies from nearly 500 to 100 in six months. That alone made a huge difference. And going gluten/soy free allowed me to lose 20 lbs in a month and then maintain it pretty easily just logging my calories.

Occasionally, due to poor planning, I eat regular bread or some pizza and I am sapped of energy and achy for a week afterwards. I'm working on getting into the habit of always having gluten free options on hand. But generally speaking, I feel better than I've felt my entire life.

I've never heard of having an immune response to desiccated thyroid. I've done very well on Nature Throid. You may want to get labs done every 6 weeks to check your levels and adjust your dose as needed.

I mostly take what you expect: a portable charger, calling cards (assuming I have to call internationally), credit card and cash, essentials (makeup/hygiene care/hair products/etc), a good pair of sneakers and my favorite heels, etc.

If you're going somewhere with the intent of swimming then a full body swimsuit is necessary in my books. Regardless of how much sunscreen I use I will end up like a tomato without one. This is the one I bought. I got my first one last summer and got six uses out of it with no complaints. I'll probably buy another one this year to be on the safe side but the quality is great (especially for the price). I think it's cute, a lot cuter than many "regular" suits, and it's definitely comfortable.

Other useful items I try to bring:

  • Soap Sheets: They dissolve with a bit of water and come in handy for laundry. No TSA worries here!

  • A bra stash: I would've never personally bought this for myself, at least not initially, but it was a brilliant gift from my mother when I went away to school. There's a slew of reasons why you may not want to carry a purse or wallet. This will be your saving grace. It's not like the majority of us haven't done this anyway....

  • Compression Socks: Long flights will typically cause your extremities to swell up but no more! This is a serious, serious lifesaver on long trips. I learned this the hard way on my flight to Japan.

  • Probiotics: I know that sounds crazy. I KNOW. However, I've never gotten sick from a flight OR experienced much jetleg while having these in rotation five days prior to flying, during, and after. Worth it.

  • Diva Cup: You should be using these anyway during menstruation, but if you aren't, then while traveling is a great way to start. You won't have to worry about pads or tampons anymore. It's also a lot healthier and easier!

Hey all! Some of y’all may have saw my older post, so it’s a pleasure to come back in only just two weeks with some progress. I’ve had a shift in routine since then. What you see is flat red marks, and just two raised bumps.

First of all, I’d like to thank those that recommended Azelaic acid because holy moly I think it made a big difference. And I also feel the same about the benzoyl peroxide contact therapy. There was a point where I dropped my BHA and AHA and just used Melazepam morning and night for a few days, but then I learned that you get the same results just using it once a day. I now alternate my BHA and AHA in the evenings.

Another thing I started was taking Spearmint Capsules! I haven’t been taking them long enough to say they’re working, but I will say that I’m thankful another breakout hasn’t tarnished my progress again yet. (Knock on wood)

I actually haven’t visited the derm like many recommended because I really wanted to try the spearmint capsules first to see if they could control my hormonal acne alongside my BC. If my skin foils me again, I’m off to the derm for sure.

Another oral product I’m taking is this women’s vaginal probiotic. Even though it’s targeted towards women’s health, it contains probiotic strains beneficial for targeting acne according to Simple Skincare Science.

Lastly, I definitely prefer Skinlex’s formulation of niacinamide over TO’s. There’s really nice beneficial ingredients, and it’s only $13.60!

Routine:

AM:

• Dr. Song’s 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide gel when I wake up (wait for ten minutes and then wash off)
• Vanicream Gentle Cleanser
• Melazepam (20% Azelaic acid cream)
• Habo Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream mixed with a couple pumps of Skinlex 2% Alpha-Arbutin Serum (includes Niacinamide and MAP Vitamin C)
• Cerave in the tub
• Biore UV bright milk SPF 50+ (pink bottle)

PM:

• Remove makeup with Kose softymo speedy cleansing oil
• Vanicream Gentle Cleanser
• alternate nights between stridex in the red box and 10% Mandelic acid serum
• Habo Labo Skin plumping gel cream mixed with the Skinlex 2% Alpha-arbutin
• Cerave in the tub

Every other night:

• De la Cruz 10% Sulphur ointment (apply to face and wash off after 15 min)

Weekly:

• MUAC 40% mandelic acid chemical peel

• After my chemical peel, I’ll add a couple pumps of Skinlex 10% Niacinamide serum to my Habo Labo skin plumping gel cream instead of using the 2% Alpha Arbutin

Hey! OK. I'll try to give you some insight!
(I'm also detoxing right now, as i'm also job hunting. Yay for us ;)

Are you using anything to help you detox, aka pills or fiber or something?
Here's what I use: (and it's all natural)

Detox Pills

OR

Ultimate Cleanse

For these next two, what I do is mix them together in a glass of cranberry juice in the morning and at night, following the directions on the label of starting small and slowly increasing the amount. For short periods (which I would do right at the beginning, for a few days) you can do use the bentonite like 5 times a day (so use it without the pysllium in the afternoon), then cut back to once in the morning, once at night again.

Bentonite

Pysllium

Both of these combined = a lot of fiber and cleansing. You may get constipated, you may be pooping a lot. I wouldn't recommend doing them both for the first time, at the same time. Try the bentonite and psyllium first, do it for 5 days or so, then the pills.

  1. There isn't a way to really speed up the process, it's more like you just want to hit it HARD. Drink water, no trees or booze, exercise are all great. Employing detox methods like the ones I mentioned above can help kick it in the pants.

  2. I've been able to pass a test within 2 weeks by cutting out all bud and doing this regime + lots of water, general exercise, eating well, etc. I have never been a very heavy smoker (I'm 5'6, 150lb, smoke 1/8th a month). So, take that for what it's worth.

  3. I think less fat = faster metabolism, and less room for stuff to stick around. I know NOTHING, but I'd assume less fat would be a good thing.

  4. While you're at the store getting those awesome detox supplies I recommended or looking on amazon, pick up some melatonin, and maybe some other natural sleep meds. Melatonin is GREAT and has always helped me for short term sleep issues. Other sleep meds should definitely work, especially if you're never used them before. ;)

    Hope this helps girl!
u/finallyoverit · 4 pointsr/stopdrinking

I had the same reaction when I did that math. Eye-opening, to say the least.

For the smoothie, you can mix it up, but I go with this basic scheme every day:

1-2 tablespoons of psyllium husk powder

1-2 tablespoons of ground flax meal

a handful of fresh spinach (trust me, you won't taste it, but it adds a LOT of nutrients)

a cup or so of frozen fruit of your choice. I have used almost everything I can find: pineapple, banana, strawberries, blueberries, apples, pears, peaches, etc. If I can't find it frozen, I buy a bunch of whatever fruit is on sale, cut it up and freeze it myself.

Fill it up with a liquid of your choice to make sure it blends well - I use unsweetened vanilla flavored almond milk because it's low calorie and I'm trying to lose weight, but I've also tried orange juice, drinkable yogurt, kefir, and other such things. You can use whatever liquid you want though.

And that's it. Blend it up into smoothie form and enjoy. One caveat: drink/eat it quickly and with a glass of water - the psyllium husk absorbs a ton of liquid and it can be a little thicker than you want if you let it sit for more than 20-30 minutes. The fiber takes up volume in your stomach as it absorbs water, it keeps you ahem regular, and everything in the recipe is so nutrient dense that it gives your body a lot to chew on, so to speak. A lot of the ingredients for these smoothies come off of this list the ANDI scale which is a rough guide to how much nutrition you get per calorie out of certain foods. Higher scores = more nutrient density = higher efficiency diet.

Disclaimer: if it works for you, awesome! If not, try something else, or meet with a nutritionist. I used the advice of a health counselor service I get through work, but if you go to any Whole Foods, you can schedule an appointment with their "healthy eating specialist" for free, and they can be remarkably helpful.

Hi- I wanted to chime in here because I am a physician and I am also a lady and struggle with the same thing. A lot of time when we are "bloated" from eating and drinking we call it "water weight" and there is some truth to that, but if you want to get down to the nitty-gritty, a big part of the weight gain is actually poop. Yeah I said it. Poop. Seriously. When you eat a bunch of fatty, salty foods that are outside your norm, your gut can get a little backed up from this. This makes us feel bloated and puffy. To take care of business and get back to normal, I would recommend a psyllium fiber supplement- I mix about a tablespoon or two with a splash of OJ and then fill the rest of the cup with water. I give it a good mix and then drink it down. This is NOT a laxative, simply a nice big dose of fiber. This helps your body add bulk and draw water into the stool. You will eliminate the bloat after a nice, big... ahem, well you get the idea. Hope this helps!! This is the one I use

http://www.acne.org/messageboard/topic/330166-good-bad-birth-control-pills-and-implants-for-acne/

First things first, check out that link. It explains which birth control pills are good for acne and which will exacerbate it (YMMV of course). It's possible that your BC is not one that's good for acne. If this is the case, I'd recommend asking your doctor to switch you to a different one, the best two I think are ortho-tri cyclen and yasmin.

Other than that, you could also try asking your doctor for spironolactone. It's an anti-androgenic medication that's often prescribed for hormonal acne. Lastly, you should DEFINITELY try spearmint tea. That's what I did, and it helped like crazy. Spearmint is anti-androgenic, too, there have been studies on it so it's not an old wives tale or anything like that. I personally could never get myself to drink 1-2 cups of spearmint tea a day, so I take them in capsule form instead, which is the same thing. I like this one.

I've also noticed that my hormonal acne gets better when I'm using my finacea prescription, which I use for rosacea. At the very least, finacea is really good for getting rid of the red marks leftover by hormonal breakouts.

u/batsinhats · 1 pointr/sex

I've heard about this problem before, of things getting a bit off after receiving semen. I have also heard of people using capsulized boric acid to treat mild BV (search for it in /r/sex, pretty sure I read about it here initially) -- but not Vitamin C.

Anyway, you may be getting into a cart before horse thing. Not all bad smells are going to be a result of BV, and you could potentially do more to avoid the presumed microbial imbalance that is resulting in the smells.

I've been seeing someone with a vasectomy, and having seen this issue pop up in /r/sex before, I was a little nervous about getting smellz down there as a result. What I have been doing is the following:

  1. I always pee after sex because I'm a little UTI prone. So still pee after sex, but before that
  2. I use a clean finger to kinda clear out as much excess cum as a I can so it's not just around in there
  3. No vaginal funk
  4. Never hurts to take a good probiotic every day, I've been taking this one touted for vaginal health. Pricy but I have a long history of antibiotics use that had kinda messed up my colon microbes so I find it worthwhile to invest in good probiotics.

I imagine that other aspects of bodily chemistry (his and yours too; not sure how BC might affect your vaginal microbiome) so your mileage may vary. But I would try sticking a finger in there to clear it out before you stick Vitamin C in there?

PS Link to use on boric acid for BV, from University of Wisconsin: http://www.uwhealth.org/healthfacts/obgyn/7683.pdf

Not saying this is what you "should" be doing, just that this may be what was meant instead of Vitamin C.
u/lordkiwi · 1 pointr/askscience

I am quite positive that some nutrients are more biologically available due to the action of intestinal bacteria however I cant remember which ones. I think you should first define the weight your talking about. I think it this case you could have weight gain from fluid retention from swelling and inflammation, weight loss from fluid loss from diarrhea. you can have both going on at once. Weight loss as in the release or storage of lipids by fat cells can also be influenced by gut bacteria. Bacteria can interfere with the response to leptin causing weight gain. Now your question about disrupting. There are big issues with that. There are hundreds of different bacteria and yeast in your system some are beneficial some are pathogenic some others are beneficial until there are to many then they become pathogenic. Not to mention disrupting the bacteria with anti-biotics can lead to a Yeast imbalance as like candida are not bacteria but fungus. Yeast imbalances are also not simple to treat because yeast are more like animals then they are like bacteria anti-fungal agents are as toxic to people as they are to yeast. If you want to effect your gut balance with out doing something radical I suggest you try a month or two of something like http://www.amazon.com/Now-Foods-Candida-Veg-capsules-180-Count/dp/B000E7R3FY Candida support. Its more of a yeast suppresent then having anything strong enough in it to kill them outright. Omg, same!

I’ve been on these for four months now, and for someone with IBS, they’ve been fucking amazing. I’m reacting to less foods now (I’m gluten and dairy intolerant). I’m super regular. Bathroom time is a breeze. And I feel less “inflamed” overall, fwiw.

I’ve had IBS for a decade, and must have tried hundreds of probiotics, probiotics, HSO’s... I’m shocked that these have worked so well and haven’t pooped out on me yet (pun intended).

Anyhoo, THESE are the ones OP is referring to. Hope they help others as much as they’ve helped me and my happy tummy!

u/itsjustmybabyfat · 2 pointsr/loseit

Yep, this was happening to me every weekend after eating super clean Monday thru Friday and then eating one "cheat" meal out Saturday night/Sunday brunch. Anything high fat would go right through me and high carb would constipate me for a day or two.

I happened to be visiting my parents and my dad (who lost about 50 lbs in the last couple years by eating healthy and walking) said he'd had the same issue when he started eating healthier, and recommended that I look at my fiber and probiotic intake. The idea is that your gut bacteria is accustomed to working a certain way on the days you eat very healthy - they get very efficient at processing veggies, simple foods, etc. Then you throw a wrench in everything by eating a ton of carbs or a high fat meal, and your stomach starts freaking out and wondering how it's going to process this meal that it forgot how to process. Your body just goes in to panic mode and wants to get the stuff out of you as soon as possible.

For me, the only way to avoid the instant gut punch after eating a meal out, is:

  • Obviously, try to make a better choice of what to eat. I'm not saying I never eat "bad" when I eat out, but instead of the fatty pork belly, maybe I should choose the dryer, leaner lemongrass pork. That sort of compromise. Know your triggers.

  • Take two psyllium husk capsules, like these, per day (more on days I am fasting/dieting and don't get as much fiber through my food)

  • Take a daily probiotic (with at least 1 billion+ organisms) to help build up healthy bacteria in your gut

Since adding these two daily supplements I feel like I've got a little bit of a "cushion" in my stomach when I eat - I no longer have to rush home right after every Saturday night cheat meal. There are still trigger foods that I know I just shouldn't eat because they are WAY too fatty or sweet, but the supplements have allowed me to eat a little more liberally every once in a while, which is nice when you don't want your diet to take over your entire life!
u/whoaholduphangonnow · 1 pointr/loseit

I don't think you're allergic. When you change diets your gut has to get accustomed to the new food and how it'll process it. This same thing happened to me when I started eating 90% clean - BUT keep in mind - it will also happen when you have a great, healthy diet and then allow yourself cheat meal every once in a while.

Something I've found that helps: take a probiotic/acidophilus every day (get one that has at least a billion cultures or else it's not worth it) and get a bottle of psyllium husk capsules (fiber) like this one - https://www.amazon.com/PSYLLIUM-HUSK-CAPSULES-Supplement-Constipation/dp/B0129RR1D0/ref=sr_1_23_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1467037955&sr=1-23&keywords=psyllium+husk

The probiotic will help your gut function and the fiber helps keep you regular and gets your body used to a regular flow of fiber. Think of these two things as a "cushion" in your gut, so that a bunch of fiber-filled veggies or a big plate of fatty food won't make you feel as terrible afterward

u/Root4789 · 2 pointsr/glutenfree

yes antibiotics can really mess up your system than what issues you had before taking them. And can i ask what made you need to take antibiotics for? and it will mess up your gut heath you need to rebuild the good gut bacteria you can start with pre and probiotics and other good gut heath foods and when you eat gluten foods what happens to you? also either when you wake up or just in the day is your tongue covered in white stuff? also if you can try to stay away from foods and things that have high fructose corn syrup and carrageenan in them here is a few things to help get you started

I don't know what you have tried or haven't tried. But try applying some of this to your tummy before eating. It's natural and it's been giving me great relief. It can be found on amazon too. http://www.mynaturalfamily.com/symptoms/food-allergy/doterras-digestzen-essential-oil/

Now that we get some digestive relief in there, let's see about getting things moving. http://www.amazon.com/Heathers-Tummy-Organic-Acacia-Senegal/dp/B0009XFYSG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1413958670&sr=8-2&keywords=heathers+tummy+fiber

This is good, organic fiber. It may take a while to build up to the dosage you need.( In the meantime, if you are having a bad episode try a tblsp or two or milk of magnesia to get you some relief. )

Now with IBS, diet has a lot to do with it. Try an elimination diet like the the Low FODMAP diet to rule out trigger foods.

I also take time to sit quietly in the evening and meditate. Stress and ibs aggravate each other. At least in myself. There's no such thing as overkill when it comes to looking after your mental well being.

I have suffered for years with IBS-C. I really hope some of the info I'm giving you helps.

If you're at all interested, this is the probiotic I used that helped out a lot. Of course, it's different for everyone, but it's worth a try if this doesn't work out for you! Best of luck?

u/itsaphilodendron · 2 pointsr/weddingplanning

I just get mine from Amazon, I wasn't particular about brand (as long as they're spearmint not peppermint!); I'm in the UK but looks like the ones I get are also in the US (https://www.amazon.com/Swanson-Full-Spectrum-Spearmint-Leaf/dp/B00392OUZW). I take one tablet twice a day.

Otherwise looks like everyone else has given good advice but my tactic would be to focus on getting very good at covering up - I was in my friend's wedding a few months ago and my skin was a mess but I had my concealing skills honed so it ended up difficult to even notice (but allow maybe more time for getting ready on the day so you can really take time over it!).

u/MyDeLoo · 1 pointr/answers

I've had good luck with probiotics. There is a probiotic subreddit on here; you might want to check it out. Also: plain yogurt (no sugar added), high-fiber vegetables and fruits like carrots and apples. Avoid sugar, nuts, and cheese. Drink a lot of water. You might try stool softeners when you're feeling really bad - they're gross to use but they work quickly. I noticed someone here suggested prunes. I wouldn't recommend dried fruit - it just bloats you even more in my experience.

I used to be severely constipated and doctors were extremely unhelpful. I had to find a treatment on my own, and taking acidophilus for a month did the trick for me. You should ideally take probiotics every day. I just ordered this (see link). It has great reviews, but it's expensive. You don't need to spend that much - get a cheap bottle at a drugstore and try that first. Health food stores often have supplement clerks who can give you some advice about what's best for your condition, and which products are most popular. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IO9PMDO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One more thing: A lot of people believe mental illness can be triggered by gut flora that's out of balance. I think there's probably some truth in that. It's something I'm still learning about, though.

u/DesertBreeze · 2 pointsr/sex

As for probiotics, a cheaper option are these two (they are the same brand--the difference is the first one does not have to be refigerated):

and more expensive ones that are popular:

http://www.amazon.com/Renew-Life-Ultimate-Vaginal-Formula/dp/B0042KULCG/ref=sr_1_6?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1414978305&sr=1-6&keywords=ultimate+flora+probiotics

There are reviews there that say it cured their yeast problems.

If she is willing to try the probiotics, you should couch PIV sex for maybe a month or two and see how she is feeling on the probiotics.

If she is able to receive oral or be stimulated with your fingers (not in her vagina) without pain, then maybe ask her if you both can concentrate on each other through oral and manual stimulation while hopefully the probiotics help start to keep the yeast at bay (hopefully it will work).

The fact she can't enjoy PIV probably lowers her sex drive so maybe if you can both concentrate on pleasing each other in other ways, her libido might start coming back again.

But in the end, you would be justified in ending the relationship so that you can find a partner you can have sex with.

Hey, I'm like you with that almond flour...

Try swapping 1 TBSP of Almond Flour for 1 TBSP of 0 carb cookies and cream (or any other flavor that goes well with chocolate) protein powder.

Swap 1 TBSP of the Unsweetened Coco Powder for another 1 TBSP of 0 carb cookies and cream protein powder

Swap 2 TSP Coconut Flour for 2 TSP Psyllium Husks.

Go from 1.5 TBSP of splenda to 2 TBSP to retain the sweetness.

You have suddenly made that 7g into like 1.8g and you jacked the fiber up by a LOT...they taste delicious (I double this recipe and eat it for dinner sometimes)

I have read some things about certain kinds of probiotics being good for vaginal health. There are apparently a couple of kinds of good bacteria identified by researchers to be good: Lactobacillus rhamnosus, GR-1 and Lactobacillus reuteri, RC-14.

A product called Femdophilus contains both these kinds of Probiotic and, if the hundreds of Amazon reviews are worth a damn, works really well for some ladies.

I think dstam has a really good point. Antibiotics kill the good gut flora and make it much easier for yeast to get out of balance. Acidophilus is just one strain of beneficial bacteria. You can get a cheap probiotic at walmart with one or two strains but I buy Dr. Ohiras online. It has 14 live strains in reasonable amounts. Some people like to blast their bodies with probiotic but your body doesn't need 25 billion probiotics so the rest get flushed out anyway. I used to have yeast infections and thrush all the time and probiotics are the only thing that helped long term. The single strain cheapies really didn't do much for me.

The bathroom after sex is a big one. If she hasn't done this previously that may be where it started. Also, for the yeast infections start a targeted probiotic like this. This will help over time and should be a part of her routine until her PH balances, switch to scent free soap, laundry detergents, cut down on sugars, alcohol, really anything that yeast thrives on.

Remind her to NEVER douche, or even wash her vagina, it's self cleaning and these things further unbalance her natural PH.

More importantly note that this woman is having sex with you and it hurts her. Take a break from sex. Don't be selfish (not accusing you).

It concerns me that you're not phrasing it "what CAN I do?"...

That's my 2¥ on her health. She should also speak to a new doctor and research the topic independently. Reddit is not a place for medical advice. (Right?)

Some probiotics have PRE-biotics in them (bacteria food) and can feed the good bacteria (and yeast) in the probiotics or the bad bacteria (and yeast) possibly already in your gut. There are different types of pre-biotics, some that are more likely to be fermented (form gas) than others and some that are more likely to feed the good guys or the bad guys.

I've been sensitive to pre-biotics for awhile now, but recently found the probiotic Seed to actually have non-fermentable pre-biotics and I don't get any reaction from them, while still feeding the good bacteria.

So pay attention to the type of probiotics your taking and also the type of prebiotics in there. And you can find some without any prebiotics as well.

Edit:

Some probiotics I've found w/o probiotics:

Saccharomyces Boulardii (good yeast)

A blend of hearty spore-forming beneficial bacteria

Powders & capsules of more traditional prebiotics (Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus species)

Want to add fiber to your diet? I was taking psyllium husk powder for a while as a fiber supplement. It has a grain flavor and the texture isn't the best but it's pretty cheap and it works.

This is not the kind I was taking but it's similar. 24 ounce would last a long time. Make sure you mix with a full glass of water and it does get stuck pretty well to whatever you mix it in, so I recommend using (and reusing) a plastic cup and spoon until they get too gross. Then throw away. You can add it to other foods too, but I prefer just chugging it. I would take 1teaspoon a day.

Try to substitute, if you can, with other vegetables, and realize that baby is getting what s/he needs from you, especially if you're taking a prenatal. I really, really enjoyed peanut butter and crackers. Like, in a big way. Two jars a week.

I cry at commercials and maudlin thoughts now. So, no, crying at a meal seems perfectly normal. It'll pass.

When I heard the heartbeat for the first time, I just remember thinking, Thank God! No more IVF for a while! It wasn't until she really looked like a human at 12 weeks that I got more attached. And, frankly, I only really thought of her as a real person when I could start to feel her moving (around 19-21 weeks). Whatever you're feeling is OK. Be patient with your post-infertility PTSD, if you think you might have a little. That's what we're all here for.

Um, regarding the Crinone - yeaaaah, never saw black. BUT, I did some googling, and some other boards that shall remain nameless seem to say that it's old stuff that is a week or two old that is just discharging. So, seems harmless.

Two pieces of unsolicited advice? Take lots of naps and eat lots of Fiber Gummies (http://smile.amazon.com/Vitafusion-Fiber-Gummies-90-Count-Bottle/dp/B002NPCMJC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406500944&sr=8-1&keywords=fiber+gummies) so you stay regular. I swear by those damn sugar-free bears.

Tell her to start taking probiotics, that may just clear everything up unless like a another person said, its an infection or STD of some sort.

Start her with these. it doesn't need to be that brand, but you want about 50 billion. Have her take it in the morning before breakfast. Make sure she doesn't eat or drink anything for at least half hour (the pill needs to go through the stomach into the intestines).

See how she is in two weeks. If it is an improvement, then she can lower it to about 5 billion which she should take every day.

Yeah get a cheap psyllium husk. Like 15 grams per day. So, poop is more than food. It's also a lot metabolic waste from things like red blood cell death... Fiber helps it come out and not build up.

Also, reducing calories can cause digestive shutdown/slow down (this prevents a lot of calories from being burned). So, having something in there is beneficial no matter how you look at it.

  • Being "regular" - those activia type yogurts can help
  • Good diet in general (no fried, oily food, and avoid "low fat" processed food which has weird oil substitutes)
  • lots of water all day, everyday
  • lots and lots of fiber (take a supplement twice a day - i love these and they work really well but are pretty overpriced.)
  • wet wipes
  • Know your body (if you're not feeling right then you're not on the market).

Other replier is correct, probiotics promote healthy gut bacteria. Adults sometimes take these too, especially if they have taken broad-spectrum antibiotics, wiping out some of their good bacteria along with the bad and causing digestive problems.

Babies only start developing gut bacteria after they are born (breast milk contains it to help them!) and the probiotics are meant to help with that process. There are some studies demonstrating their effectiveness.

We are using these ones: https://www.amazon.com/Biogaia-Protectis-Baby-Drops-Vitamin/dp/B00NAG7AF4/ref=sr_1_5_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1520727672&sr=1-5&keywords=biogaia%2Bbaby%2Bprobiotic%2Bdrops&th=1

My suggestion is use whatever you like in taste and whatever you can afford, and add some fiber to it. You can probably find a fiber source from anywhere, but I add a teaspoon of fiber (5grams) for each 30 grams of protein. Other fiber in your diet should improve it as well.

Have you ever tried psyllium husk capsules? You can buy them easily from Amazon, which would be the cheapest route. I took this, and my bowel movements became shockingly clean. Literally like one, two, maybe three wipes at most.

No matter how much regular fiber I was consuming (I eat a lot of whole grains, whole fruits, and vegetables), my bowel movements didn't compare to how clean they were when I was taking the psyllium husk capsules.

Those capsules are basically the same capsules you can find specifically targeted to gay men, albeit much cheaper.

My only real concern is how my body would hold up if I were to use that amount of psyllium husk fiber per day for a long period of time. What's weird is that some reputable companies will state that it's not for long term use, while other reputable companies will not have that warning label at all even though they have identical daily fiber intakes. After much research, it seems to me that companies that have higher doses of psyllium husk within fewer capsules have the warning while companies that have smaller doses of psyllium husk in more capsules don't have the warning. Downside of the latter is having to take more capsules per day, which would be annoying.

I did have one side effect from taking psyllium husk capsules, and that was pretty strong stomach pain, but that was due to not taking the recommended amount per day I believe. When I took the recommend dosage amount, the pain was nonexistent. What was really great was that I had no bloating at all as you might expect from a fiber pill. It seems to me that psyllium husk does not cause bloating because it doesn't release gases as it simply expands in your body and doesn't get digested by the bacteria.

Two things that come to mind:

- How much metamucil are you taking? It looks like you can take up to 2 rounded teaspoons 3X per day, per the label. I would think about (gradually) moving up to that amount and see what happens. Just take 2 tsp with each meal (you could experiment whether before vs after vs during makes any difference). Move up gradually, not suddenly, from whatever you are taking now.

- You could try some of the other fiber products that are supposed to do well with IBS, to see if they are any better or worse. They are generally soluble type fiber. Examples are something with Sunfiber (one example) and Heather's Tummy Fiber.

I think every item produced by Vibrant Health does -- for example see this product's ingredient listing.

My feeling is that if I'm digesting something multiple times a day, I should be able to see exactly what it's composed of. Everything else I eat, I know the composition... what not something that I'd plan on using as a staple of my diet. And, generally, I find that "proprietary" means the product is loaded with cheap ingredients and dusted lightly with the more expensive ingredients.

Probiotics are frequently taken by people who have IBD, and I've taken quite a few. Dr. Ohhira's is well-regarded from everything I've read over the years and it's part of my my go-to regimen when I start to have symptoms or when someone in my family takes antibiotics.

If you also want to consume yogurt, you could try it in conjunction with a capsule probiotic, then go dairy-free if you prefer when your innards are feeling better.

u/b1ackcat · 2 pointsr/keto

What do you mean "slightly been knocked out". You're in or your out. If the stick is any shade of pink, you're in ketosis. The "level" of ketones is irrelevant. Also, many here will say that the high concentrations are an indicator that you're not drinking enough water, as you're not flushing yourself out enough.

I use these for fiber supplements and have never had any issues. They're fantastic as a little mini dessert to round off breakfast.

First I agree with everyone here that you should confirm that you indeed have a UTI and its not something else. That said I used to get recurrent UTI's and there was a point I had a standing prescription for antibiotics. It was the worst - what helped me was this probiotic and of course keeping up with the Azo cranberry. Havent had one in like 4 years phew. Again do not take antibiotics at will and without supervision - antibiotic drug resistance is a real danger. Also cleaning up my diet helped. Hope you feel better!

Yes! I've had a similar experience. I recently got this book, it's mostly a cookbook but in the beginning thoroughly discusses IBS triggers, what's safe and what to avoid. The biggest things are fat and insoluble fiber.

The woman also sells this supplement that is pure soluble fiber called Heathers Tummy Fiber which I have found has helped me significantly.

I would check it out and see what you think.... the woman who wrote it is not a doctor or anything but is an IBS sufferer and explains how she did a lot of her own research into the topic herself. I've found the advice and info in this book to match much closer to my experiences than the advice to cut out fodmaps/gluten/dairy/whatever else.

I also saw an actual dietician for the first time recently and she also suggested a low fiber diet and said that the evidence is still mixed on the low fodmap diet.

I second this. At one point I got a vaginal strep infection from a guy going down on me before he was showing symptoms of strep throat. Once the infection had run it's course I couldn't seem to get the smell or texture of my discharge to return to normal. I went back to the doctor several times to get tested for anything else and they told me I was normal. After getting fed up with no results I tried oral probiotics as a last resort. I was so skeptical I thought it was a waste of my money, but I had to be able to say I'd tried it before I moved on to something else. They made my vagina smell and feel AMAZING. It only took a few days and I noticed a difference in smell, texture, even some minor itchy irritation that I had just gotten used to went away. I was floored that taking a pill once a day could do so much for my poor vagina. The link is the brand I tried so I can't speak for other varieties, but holy shit if something so simple can fix her troubles why not try it?
