Charging

• Wall Connector $500. Not necessary but I'd recommend biting the bullet before taking delivery, so you can keep the mobile charger in the car. The electrical work took 2 hours of time, at $130/hr. I highly recommend installing a dedicated 60-amp breaker and an efficient gauge wire which will give you 45 mi/hr of charge.
  
• Charging Adapters $35. Car comes with the 5-15 and 14-50. I strongly recommend buying the 5-20. If you plan to charge at someone else's house on a roadtrip, ask them to send you a picture of their dryer plug. So far, I've needed the 10-30 and 14-30.
  
• NEMA 5-15P to 5-20R Adapter $20. Strongly recommended in combo with Tesla's 5-20 adapter to "cheat" a 16-amp charge (33% faster charging). Must-watch this video, and must-read here, here, here, and here.

• Aero Cosmetics Complete Car Kit $40. Highly recommended. Pricey but saves time for amazing results. Cheaper and better quality than CarGuys products. I liked it so much that I ended up buying this also.
  
• Invisible Glass Spray Cleaner $4. Recommended that you have some glass cleaner that's not Windex. This brand is one of the best.
  
• Wash Mitt 2-pack $16. Highly recommended compared to a wet rag.
  
• Tire and Wheel Brush $8. It's important to segregate parts you use on wheels from parts you use on paint. This product is solid.
  
• Grit Guard $8. Totally optional. Helps separate dirt in the bucket when cleaning. You'll see a difference in the water.

• Tough-Pro Interior Mats $80. My opinion is that all-weather mats are a must-have. The stock mats are crappy, and all-weather mats make cleaning easier. These are cheaper than Tesla's all-weather mats. I'm happy with them but I'd buy the OEM Tesla ones if I could do it again.
  
• Upgraded White LED Lights $13-$77. Must-have for the trunk. Optional for others. I replaced all 7 non-footwell. Easy install with a credit card. As a bonus, I have one left over, so PM me if you want it.
  
• Kenriko Matte Wrap for Center Console $30. Must-have. Watch his install videos first. Customer service is excellent if you screw up the install like I did. The matte black matches the black leather interior perfectly. I'm sure the matte white is nice too.
  
• Pet Cover for Trunk $45. I couldn't find anything better for driving my dogs, so I use this one with the back seats down, along with Tesla's rubber trunk mat. I'd say my setup prevents 90% of dog wear, and keeps any dog smell to a minimum.
  
• Nomad Wireless Charger $130. Nice to have. Not available until end of November, but battery is integrated unlike the comeptitor's.
  
• Rubber Cupholder Liners $25. Optional, helps with cleaning.

Okay so here is the part thats included

Its kinda pricey. Its a pretty beefy compressor and it has a replaceable fix-a-flat style sealant canister.

Now you can get a beefier, similarly sized compressor for less money, like this one but thats going to actually be more than you need. Ive seen a few complaints from that brand that if you are over ~80 psi they will pop the fuse in your car, rather than the one in the compressor (which can take a pretty hefty amperage.)

Cheaper still, something like what I was using before I bought my volt would be a small hand held affair This isnt the exact model I had but its similar, and a comparable price. This is going to be slow to inflate your tire, but the benefit is it takes up virtually no space at all.

This is actually the sort of thing I would recommend. Its medium sized, reasonably powerful but not a monster, and it has a built in flashlight (which is SO helpful.)

A decent compressor can be got from walmart for $20, but if you want to spend more there are a ton of good options of all shapes and sizes and at any price point you can imagine.

Last but not least, if you dont get the GM one, you should include a can of fix-a-flat in any car, whether you have a spare or not.

PS a good alternative to the GM one might be the fix-a-flat brand compressor which also has a canister, and is a good price.

Buying and mounting/Balancing MC tires is one of the most repetitive & costly parts of owning a motorcycle. The more you ride the more it becomes apparent. First world problem, the more bikes you own the more it hurts. Granted not something one needs to do everyday, but one that the tools can often pay for themselves the first time out depending on your location. It's getting harder and harder to find shops that will do carry in wheels/tires at reasonable prices in many areas. Locally the going rate here over the last 20 years has crept up from about $10-20 a pair to $20-$50 each with some dealers being closer to $60.

Yes you can spend more and typically the more you spend the easier the job gets. You can go from simple spoons to manual changers with bead breakers and tire bars like the Mojo lever that make faster and easier work of the job and higher quality balancers like a Marc Parnes unit or ones that have their own stand. I use a static balancer/truing stand with a set of Marc Parnes cones and sourced my own tool steel axle.

I learned with tire spoons(I was probably 8-10 years old on my own stuff on the farm), as I got older(12ish) the shop(indy MC shop) let me use the manual tire machine until they purchased a powered rim clamp machine 3-4 years later and I eventually bought my own as I took it up as a career. Moved on to another career but I still have most of my tools/equipment.

I did tires for years with nothing more than spoons, a basic balancer/truing stand at home.

I have a 2015 Touring. I added 30% tint on the front (which nicely matches the rear privacy glass), OEM window deflectors, Rokblokz mudflaps, JBR Rear sway bar and brackets (to reduce body roll in cornering), Fumoto Oil Valve - F-106N(for easier oil changes), McGard Spline Drive Lugs, and changed my wheels to Rays RE30s 18x7.5 +50 with Yokohama YK740 GTX 235 /60 R18 tires.

All these mods were easy to install, except for the RSB. That took a bit of time, but the install instructions are detailed and straight forward.

I'm not sure that these are the exact same fit as yours but they aren't hard to find. A tire shop can probably help you. Those nuts can have better clearance for alloy wheels and maybe to help prevent theft. If you notice the first link has a review with a picture where it broke just like yours so maybe stay away from the first one. Read the description and look at close up pics to make sure you get the right one.

Harbor freight bead breaker is only $14. Totally worth it. Also to balance the tires, I picked up this one from amazon and mounted it on two jack stands. Works great.

As for the tire changing process, I use the zip tie method for mounting the new tire. I don't particularly like it for removing the old tire. Also make sure the tires are warmed up before you start. They will be so much more stretchy and flexible.

It looks like it is a splined locked lug nut. If you get a wrench/socket like this, you should be good to go. Just be sure to get the correct size, or get a multi pack.

28.99 on Amazon, for a set that will fit on most if not all common lock nuts. Round, square, doesn't matter. They have a tapered left hand thread on the inside that will just eat into the locking nut as you screw them on. All tire shops have those because owners lose their lock nut keys, plus they work on stripped nuts as well.

If they don't fit because of your rim, a few good blows with a sharp screwdriver or chisel and a hammer can probably loosen the locking nuts as well. The key shape on them actually helps to get good purchase with the chisel

A scooter-only compressor? I hope you’re kidding. (If not, tire valves for bicycles, scooters, motorcycles, and cars are all the same size.)

Go ahead and buy a cheap compressor, the kind with a tank, it is an incredibly useful tool and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. However, spend a little for a rubber hose upgrade because the cheap polyethylene stuff that comes with the compressor is junk and will chafe through and leak in multiple infuriating ways.

Here is my secret weapon, though: a high quality, dual-function inflation chuck/gauge. This will make you feel like you’re a Bentley mechanic regardless of how chintzy and noisy your compressor is:

It is a heavy, quality tool far nicer than anything sold at Harbor Freight or, for that matter, Home Depot. It shows you tire pressure on a little mechanical gauge when you stop squeezing the handle that lets air into the tire. It is repairable (though mine has never needed any repair whatsoever after 15 years), and it is my go-to birthday gift, thank you gift, etc. to every semi-handy person in my network.

If you were my friend and owned anything with wheels you would already have one.

I bought this one and it works great. Look at the other ones from CYCPLUS and they're all pretty good. If you search on eBay you can usually find bargains for around $35 or so.

You can probably attach it to the pole of your scooter, it comes with attachments.

Rubber non TPMS valve stems are fairly uniform across the board from automotive wheels to hand dolly wheels. If the rubber valve stem isn’t sealing properly and it’s a aftermarket wheel then I would say it’s safe to assume the valve stem hole has been bored out.

How many wheels are leaking, and for %100 sure it’s the valve stem to wheel mating area leaking and not the wheel bead?

Edit: just read your old posts and did some digging. Your wheels won’t fit the standard rubber valves stems, they do but they don’t. You need another flush mount kit to go back into the original holes. They should seal on their own with the rubber gasket supplied, if not then you can try some bead sealer also in Conjunction with the rubber washer on the valve stem base.

They are free spinning (which means the old hammer socket trick will not work on these). Never keep the key in the car unless you're going on a road trip. Just make sure you have AAA for towing incase you get a flat locally, so they can tow it home or tow it to the dealer. Gives you time to get your wheel key.

Get something like this, just hammer it on and then use impact Wrench. Very easy to use and at my shop i use it at least once a month.

Yeah that's what i mean - the beefier portable compressors all come with battery clamps. No need to hardwire it in like if you were installing air lockers. I don't have this exact model but one very similar to it, just pop the hood and clamp it on and air up. I use it when offroading - air down the tires for better traction, air back up when I get back to pavement.

Shit like that used to happen ALL the time at that place (I was there for a year in 2011), and it just kept escalating. First it was rims and windows, then cars getting stolen, then apartments and people getting robbed. My friends still live there and say it's gotten better since I left after they put up the cameras.

I would highly recommend getting a set of these - Gorilla Guard Wheel Locks. I bought a used vehicle with these on there and no key. 9 different tire shops were unable to get them off until I finally figured out a way without damaging the rim. The keys are extremely unique (no master keys) and the outer ring spins. They are not impossible to get off, but it will definitely take a lot of commotion/noise.

Car tire pumps are cheap enough that they probably don't care, probably because most people that buy them don't care enough to read the directions, typical tire pressures and sizes aren't that difficult to handle, and they'd just buy something else if it broke. Anyhow, here's the first cheapie I found on Amazon. It doesn't list a duty cycle, but the directions do say it can overheat and needs to cool down for 25 minutes if that happens. The specs and directions don't say what the maximum psi is, but a reviewer said it's 150 PSI. That pump would get so hot if it was working over 100 PSI.

To get a 100$ duty cycle at high pressure, you have to spend a lot of money on a compressor like this one.

An alternative at roughly the same price bracket is a liquid CO2 inflation system like this. Fwiw, this is the way I want to go. I may start putting together my system when I pick up a welder in about month, especially if I get a tig welder.

I haven't used these myself, but I have read a couple good reviews on them. If she hits the curb a lot, you should probably buy a couple spare sets!

Ok, this might not be exactly frugal - but these are so sweet. If you are checking 8 tires a week you'll soon consider it money well spent. Don't waste your money on a cheap one from Walmart.

I have a Boxster S with Antera rims, but I can't find an adapter to fill a flat tire with the flush-mount valve stem.

I've already purchased and tried this from Gorilla (www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Automotive-VS406C-Flush-Mount/dp/B000CMJ3L8), but the filler tube is too big to fit these rims. I've contacted Antera, but no response from them yet either.

Not sure about tires for a minivan, but whichever you choose you might consider adding the ability to air down on dirt roads, and airing back up once you get to highway. Airing down makes the ride much more comfortable on dirt roads and greatly reduces your chance for getting a flat.

I have this quality air compressor that hooks up to your car battery while it's running, and this air-down kit which makes it a fast/accurate procedure to air down.

I have a 12v pump and 35s on my jeep took under 5-10 minutes dead flat. It clipped directly to battery. Heard the 12v outlet pumps were trash though.

Fuckers honestly often used from balls to the golf cart to grandfathers tractors. It is the most useful car accessory I've bought beside a high quality snatch rope and recovery equipment.

If your interested... 35's to 35-40 psi was minutes. Didn't stop watch it but was impressively fast.

If you are just looking for spline drive lug nuts I recommend McGard. I had black ones and I found the finish kept it's dark black color a lot better than other tuner lugs.

You can also get wheel locks from McGard that weight the same.

They are great. Especially when your tires are fine but your TPMS light goes on, you immediately know it's the sensor and not your tires.

Some of the plastic models are thin enough they can sit on/near your spare tire. Still handy to have in your car for emergencies.

Never buy those Pressure valve caps for tires. They are a safety hazard. Debris can crack them, and then the deflation is rapid.

there are different styles, sizes etc.

Gorilla Guard locks have a rotating cuff on the outside that prevents theft via impact wrench. Only way to remove without a key is hammer and chisel the cuffs off and then impact wrench. Not impossible but a 15-20 minute process that will be a helluva deterrent.

These might work for you. They basically have threads which cut into the outside of the nut to remove it.

If they don't work, you can always drill out the stud. It sucks, and takes forever, but it works without damaging your wheel.

That's incredibly unfortunate, and the police in this town do little to help, too. I was robbed recently and we had fingerprints, high quality video in which the thief looked straight at the camera, and serial numbers and an exact list of what was stolen, and that was 2 months ago with no results.

Since then I've become anal about my car's security, and to protect against this I got locking lug nuts. Dead simple to use, and it secures your wheels; I highly recommend them.
