I might be able to help you here. I had the G933 Artemis Spectrum headphones. They were alright — I didn’t realize at the time that I had to have them hooked to a PC in order to take advantage of the virtual surround sound, so I never got to experience that with the PS4.

I decided I would invest some money into getting a really good pair of headphones after that, but I wanted to get a unicorn... something that was good for music, movies, and games. I settled on an open back pair that had incredible reviews for the price tier. And, I spent over $300 on it just over a year ago... but you can get the same model (it’s the Philips Fidelio X2/HR) for only $122 on sale on Amazon Prime right now. I think that’s a killer deal for these, and they’re HiRes also in case you like to listen to premium, high bit rate formate stuff.

They’re incredibly comfortable and have a ski goggle style design, so you could have a head the size of a watermelon and they’d cradle on it gently. Open back, big sound stage. Great quality cable, too. They’re wired though, but I really like that they’re the kind where the jack is on the headphones themselves so if the cable ever fails you can replace it and not have to replace the whole headset. So what I did is I bought a V-Moda Boom Pro Mic that plugs directly into the headset and has a flexible boom mic and a volume dial w/ mute switch on the cable, and then you plug that into the PS4 dualshock or computer. You don’t need to buy a headphone amp/DAC to power them either, which is nice.

I wasted money buying one of the Astro A40 MixAmp Pro TR boxes so I could get the virtual Dolby surround, but I wouldn’t bother. Instead, I prefer to just run a long cable from my home theater amp/receiver’s headphone out, since that’s basically one huge amp/DAC anyway, and you can drive these things up to some serious volume. You also get a much better quality sound with them and the mic combo, versus buying a gaming headset (where they jack up the price quite a bit).

If you’re looking for a wireless option, you could check out the Steel Series Arctic Pro — that link is for the one with the game DAC with DTS Headphone X and you can use it on the PC and PS4 (for $199), or the wireless version for $315. I’ve heard a lot of people say these are pretty good but I’ve not heard them myself. If you’re looking for something cheaper, maybe the HyperX Cloud for $100ish.

I recently picked up a pair of in ear buds also — the 1MORE E1010 Quad Driver for $170 that come with a little Fiio A1 headphone amp. They’re pretty nice so far, I’ve been playing “Death Stranding” with them.

I’d check out /r/headphones and you could also read the sidebar over at /r/headphoneadvice and make a post detailing the exact setup and price range and what you’re looking for and have people make recommendations. Also in the sidebar there are some popular model headphones, amps, and mics. I think most people will tell you that buying a good pair of headphones and adding the mic is better (either the VModa BoomPro or there’s another that sticks to the side of the cup like a magnet for the same-ish price). You’ll get better sound than a gaming headset, and more for the money. And you can use those savings to buy a headphone amp/DAC if you want also, which will boost the volume and bass and maybe even give you virtual surround if that’s something you feel like you really need.

I know this is long, but I figured since I was familiar with what you’d used previously (the G933s) and was on a similar hunt not so long ago, I’d share my findings with you. If you find a great set and you happen to remember, hit me up and let me know what you grabbed so I can maybe try to demo them somewhere for myself. And if you do buy the Phillips Fidelio X2/HRs from Amazon, you could always listen to them a bit and send them back if they’re not for you. But I think you’ll be pretty impressed. I definitely was, at twice the price they’re going for now. Good luck!

The Sony Playstation Wireless Gold ended up being my favorite. Here are the ones I tried and some thoughts about each. Hope this helps.

- Bose QC35II: Great sound, doesn't fit over the halo well. Expensive.

- Sony WF-1000XM3: Superb sound, doesn't fit over the halo well, but fit better than Bose for me. Ended up keeping these since I've wanted a noise cancelling set for a while and listening to music with these is magical, but that's got nothing to do with VR. Also expensive. (I still sometimes use these because holy fuck the sound is excellent and for something like SkyrimVR, the immersion is fantastic, but they do get uncomfortable after a while)

- Mantis Clip-ons: Works well enough and gives you a lot of the functionality of the original Rift headphones. They can swing out and are fairly adjustable. Sound is okay, but not as good as the original Rift (and therefore worse sound than Koss). Still much better than Rift S native sound. I have two Ss and kept a pair of these Mantis' for one of the Rifts. Not that expensive.

- Sennheiser HD 25: Great sound, good fit. Expensive-ish, but not too bad.

- Koss Porta Pro: Sounds just like the original Rift. If cost is a major consideration, then get these. Kinda janky, but for the sound you get, you'll be hard pressed to do better for the money.

So why did I go with the PS Wireless Gold? Answer: Wireless! And it's not Bluetooth, so no delay (it's RF, and has it's own dongle you plug into the PC). I prefer not to deal with a cord. Sure, you can do some fancy stuff to keep the cord out of the way, but I just love not having any cord at all and being able to easily pop them on and off, and they don't encumber the base headset and so on. With recent updates the Rift S built-in sound is passable if you're not going for total immersion, like drawing in Quill or whatever, and it's nice not having anything extra attached. Just pop em off, and turn em off. Plus, good sound, better than Mantis, and Koss. Maybe about the same as Sennheiser, maybe not. Close enough, though, and did I mention no wires? Also not too costly.

-I had the gold headset before this one and it felt very cheaply constructed comparatively (only lasted 6 months before the folding part snapped and shattered). It's def a fine option at the current Amazon sale ($69.99), but buyer beware. The plat has a pliable metal band that can take a beating... I may have accidentally stepped on it once... or was it twice? Regardless, the headset brushed it off like a champ.

-I've had the plat for 2+ years now with heavy use and it shows no sign of breaking/cracking, audio quality loss, or charge depletion issues.

-Like any good wireless headset, the usb dongle works perfectly fine (and has WAY better range) when plugged into a computer. I play rocket league on PS4 all the time with my friends who are on PC, and I use this headset for discord on my laptop.

-If you've got the initial line Ps4Pro and it runs like a jet engine (despite cleaning and replacing thermal paste...), these have decent noise reduction to combat the small exploding star in your room.

-There is an app on playstation that you load EQ sound profiles on that are designed by game devs for their respective games... but idk if my app is busted or if they never update it, but the plat app only has like 3 options for me and I can't get it to update... not really a selling feature here, BUT you can set your own EQ and save it to one of the two presets on the plat headset and load it on the fly, which is pretty cool.

-3D audio, dual mic voice capture, and the standard bass boost switch are welcome features here compared to the gold. 3D audio SHINES on this thing, but it only works with PS4.

-In regards to price point, this is a great list compared to the trend (CamelCamelCamel Link) and the cheapest a new one has ever been made available besides a crazy brief sale in april.

The black & copper pair don't look as cheap as the black & blue pair but I'm surprised Audeze is branching into the gaming market. I figured they were too far into the boutique market but nothing wrong with expanding the product stack. I see a couple big issues with these though:

  1. The gaming headphone market is already ridiculously crowded.
  2. Every company seems to have this "new & revolutionary 3D surround sound emulation" technology but they all have 2 drivers like the rest. Between Sennheiser's new GSP 600 with "7.1 surround sound" & Steel Series' new Arctis Pro + GameDac that have both released in the past few months Audeze doesn't exactly have a fresh take. This is ignoring the other options from Logitech, Astro Gaming, Turtle Beach, Triton, etc. that all claim to do the same thing. On top of those you have built-in surround sound in Windows 10 with Windows Sonic as well as a Dolby Atmos plugin as standalones that work with any headphone.
  3. Even if they do have outstanding imaging with their 3D emulation they're still closed back so the soundstage could potentially be an issue.
  4. Bluetooth is great for mobile, but it's a hard sell for a desktop environment at least for me. I'd rather be wired, or have a dedicated amp for wireless like Astro A50s.

Head tracking is a meh worthy gimmick too. Monitor manufacturers have been pushing eye tracking the past year or so which is more compelling because I don't move my head drastically enough during a session & certainly not enough to want to see data about it.

And finally, at $400 retail they're more expensive than just about everyone else. I don't see these doing all that well tbh. Cynical take but I feel my reasoning is justified.
u/tianabar · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddictionCanada

I surprisingly held back when it comes to makeup/skincare, since I just found some good Winners stuff last weekend.

BUTTTT I did take advantage of KKW Beauty’s sale, I got the Classic Palette, the new version of the Cream Highlight Stick, and the new version of her Cream Contour Stick. I heard that they have a tonnnn more product in them than the dual sticks?

I spent a lot on tech, finally got my hands on this Nintendo Switch!! Also got Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee, Mario Kart, and Rocket League!

For PC gaming, I ended up investing in a good pair of headphones: GLOWING RGB SteelSeries gaming headphones, I’m sooooo in love with them. Also got a new RGB keyboard and mouse combo from CoolMaster, and a wireless charging pad/headphone stand because I love dual purpose things lol.

Also got a surprisingly large amount of cute home stuff from Forever21’s Cyber Monday sale.

As you can see I’m all over the place lol.

In terms of comfort, they barely fit my ears and mine are proportionally sized to my over 6' tall body. They also make my ears sweat. They're okay but you can find other brands that are similar for a little less.

I'll save the story of my adventure in headphones and just say the ATH-AD700X are probably my personal pick for headphones for people with big ears but I've heard pretty much any of the Audiotechnica headphones are about the same comfort.

https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-AD700X-Audiophile-Open-Air-Headphones/dp/B009S332TQ

I bought the ATH-AD700 (no longer sold) for their accurate sound quality and high quality comfort. They're not exactly portable, so I don't get to wear them as much as I'd like to but they've been my favorite headphones for a decade now. I spent a stupid amount of time reading head-fi.org forum threads about headphone recommendations before picking the ATH-AD700 out and they did not lie about the pros and cons related to them.

My second choice but I never bought them because of price were the DT 990 headphones. I knew I'd have to buy an amp for them and the price isn't exactly cheap either.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00193FT26/?coliid=I2F1YZCSXF66N7&colid=1BOTIPM7PEEBD&psc=0

Of course, their cheaper line, the DT 770, is probably just about as good and don't require such a powerful amp.

https://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-770-PRO-Studio-Headphone/dp/B0016MNAAI

If you're looking for something cheaper with a mic attached, try the HyperX Cloud Stinger.

https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Stinger-Core-Playstation/dp/B07BB3PYD8

Alternatively, just google "headsets for big ears" and see what looks good to you. This list actually seems to do a decent job explaining the advantages from a gamer perspective.

I love using bluetooth headsets with my phone to chat, allows me to keep talking if I go smoke or something.

Mine's a bit pricey, but I use Turtle Beach PX4's.

Great sound, good mic (one of the flexible ones so I can move it away from my mouth if I'm eating or something), controls are on the headset, so I can change volume and mute the mic without having to grab my phone, and setup on my phone (Note 3) was super easy. Just make sure whatever app you're using supports bluetooth. Teamspeak's app natively does, but mumble doesn't have an official app, so I had to poke around and find one. Ended up going with Plumble (it's on the playstore), only cost a buck and some change.

u/Austacker · 1 pointr/xboxone

I use the Turtlebeach PX4. It has adjustable mic monitoring built in.

Unlike the 'made for X1' headsets like the XO one / Four, the PX4 uses the Optical output of your X1 - so it's true dolby digital, not simulated.

You have to buy the X1 controller adaptor separate, but it works fine with it. I've used the PX4 with the controller adaptor since launch.

The PX4 is compatible with x1, X360, PS3/4, PC and Bluetooth enabled Cell phones.
It has adjustable surround and bass boost settings.

Has an inbuilt lithium battery (15 hrs on one charge). Charges via USB (mine is plugged into the X1 when not in use. X1 will charge it even when in standby mode).

It also doesn't cost a whole lot either, but has flown under the radar because it's marketed towards Sony gamers.

I use this every day for my X1, X360 and PC gaming. Works perfectly and if you're not into the Astro market, this is actually a great headset. Very comfortable, great performer.

Hey dude,

I just recently got a pair of [Astro A40's + Mixamp Pro]( http://www.game.co.uk/en/astro-a40-gaming-headset-with-mix-amp-pro-for-playstation-4-grey-307913?pageSize=20&searchTerm=a40&catGroupId= l) along with the Official Headset Adaptor and set it all up by following some YouTube guides but the microphone just didn't work at all so I tried for 2 hours fucking about with the Xbox one's settings, Astro A40’s Mixamp Pro and Official Headset Adapter and I still couldn't get it work, It was driving me absolutely fucking insane.

I pretty much gave up and started putting everything back in its box so that I could take it back to the store GAME UK that I got it from so that I could get a refund for it and pick up a different headset instead such as the Turtle Beach Stealth 500x but I decided to Google the issue and I quickly saw that a lot of people on Astro Gaming Forums have been having very similar issues and quite a few people were recommending this 1.2m 2.5mm - 3.5mm chat cable and a few people said that this chat cable completely solved there issues.

I decided to take the risk and buy the Chat Cable considering I already spent £200 of the Astro A40's which at that time didn't work with the Xbox one and the Official Headset Adapter so another £10 wasn't a big deal and amazingly the chat cable turned up the next day.

I plugged the 2.5mm end into the Astro Mixamp Pro’s chat port and the 3.5mm end into the Official Headset Adapter and I've got to tell you that it fucking work’s and I am now absolutely fucking buzzing that my pair of Astro A40's now work perfectly fine with my Xbox One thanks to that chat cable but just remember to have the Official Headset Adapter set up so that the top right button ( + ) is set to max so that it beeps and also have the bottom left button ( - ) set to max so that beeps too and everything will work nicely.

Hopefully this information helps you out as I most certainly know how it feels to not have something that is fairly expensive work properly.

I just returned my PlayStation gold headset. Nobody mentions it but the mic quality is pretty bad. The sound is okay, but it's really lacking any bass.

I replaced it with the turtle beach stealth 520 headset, it's a bit pricier ($99) but it's well worth it imo. Mic quality is top of the line, and the sound quality is amazing. The only thing I'd hit it on is that the bass is a bit too much, but if you use the vocal boost preset it helps to reduce it. As far as pinpointing where people are, and overall directionality of the sound this headset is far superior to the gold. And lastly, the battery lasts longer than the gold. It's all around much better than the gold headset.

If you find yourself unsatisfied with the gold, go with the stealth 520. Link is here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Stealth-Wireless-playstation-4/dp/B01JS3F79I

Ur budget is 40$ but u could save money aside to spend 80-100$ on a really good headset, i have had my ps4 golds for 2 years going on 3 and they still run practically like new. Battery isn’t as strong as when i bought it but its still good for 4-8hrs of heavy gaming i linked it, if you plug them in every night and put them in a safe spot u will never have any issues

hi, i'm sorry about my delayed responses im orthodox jewish and there is a jewish holiday through wednesday so i wont really be around until after that. unfortunately, im not sure how to install a preview build, can you tell me how?

more importantly how do i get a log of something that windows does not seem to know is not working? to be super specific, im using this headset: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B078TCLYVM/
in earlier times (i dont have an exact date of when this stopped working) i could use windows to control the volume of my headset, either by using the slider bar by clicking the volume icon on the taskbar or the volume shortcut keys on my keyboard. now, when i use the slider bar, it still "slides" and similarly when i use the keyboard shortcut it still shows the volume increasing or decreasing, it just doesnt actually do anything, as in, it does not affect the headphones in any way to adjust the volume from within windows. windows does not seem to know that, however. windows i think thinks everything is working properly, so as far as i can tell, there is not a "problem" to generate an error log.

how can i create a log for you?

EDIT: just fyi, i can still adjust the volume using the hardware buttons on the headset itself. EDIT 2: i should mention the buttons on the headset have nothing to do with windows volume control, adjusting the volume up or down on the headset does not change the slider bar or whatever windows thinks the volume is.

thanks again for taking the time to communicate with me, i really appreciate it and will try to follow instructions to help you help me :)

I presume the signal passes through from 3.5 to USB. No D-A-C is taking place.
So to answer your question yeah your not getting the full benefit without a preamp.
ATH-M50x are stereo headphones with pretty high marks on amazon.
It doesn't appear to have a mic.

I hear good things about the Astro Mix amp pro (preamp) and you can use your current headphones or another brand. It connects to the PS4 via optical cable and you will connect you Headphones via provided 3.5mm cable. This will give you 7.1 Surround Sound. Also can be hooked into a PC to interface with music and other apps you can use while gaming or twitch streaming.

https://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-MixAmp-Pro-PS4-PlayStation/dp/B014H2W1YO/ref=sr_1_5?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1478021172&sr=8-5&keywords=astro+a40+mixamp+pro

Or you could buy the bundle with preamp and headphones together
https://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-Gaming-A40-Headset-MixAmp-PlayStation/dp/B014F77FGA/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1478021258&sr=8-1&keywords=astro%2Ba40Tr&th=1

I currently just have the headphones, and it's only stereo from audio jack from controller or 3.5 to usb adapter. It still sounds amazing. Has a detachable mic and custom plates and head pad you can swap out . Build quality is the best I have ever seen. I do plan on picking up the Astro mix amp pro later.

It's kinda hard to compare studio monitor headphones with gaming headphones. Two different kind of tools .

HyperX Cloud Stinger Core for 3.5k (blue) - https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07BB3PYD8

I use them for gaming on console and PC. Spatial audio is really good especially in competitive games like Apex. Easy on the ears if you're gonna use it for hours at a stretch, retractable and easy-adjustable mic. There's a button to turn the mic off/on and also a volume slider. I use it for the same stuff as you pretty much and the overall sound quality is pretty good.

u/Nadaf1nga · 3 pointsr/PS4

Yeah a lot depends on the mic quality. I party chat with a buddy pretty regularly, and when we first used the ear bud mics that come with the system the sound quality was pretty sub-par. We both bought replacement chat headsets, I bought the Rocketfish from best buy, he got the Turtle Beach P4C and the chat quality is noticeably better.

u/gigantuar · 2 pointsr/PS4

I had the Gold and enjoyed them but for whatever reason began having serious connection issues. My voice and party chat would cut in and out so I started looking for an alternative.

My big thing was keeping it in the $50-$100 range so I ended up with the Plantronics RIG 4VR at $70. I got it from Walmart but it should be available at most retailers. It's extremely lightweight and comfortable. I'd say it's more comfortable than the Gold particularly because I have glasses and long sessions would put a bit too much force on the glasses. Sound and voice quality has been great and haven't had any issues.

It's worth noting that it IS NOT wireless so if that's a deal breaker then keep away.

Anyway. Here's the link on Amazon... Plantronics RIG 4VR - VR Gaming Headset for Playstation VR https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYPEQE2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_KplRzbFWV58TB

Hello,

I have just started streaming as well, but I might be able to help. A easy fix to both the mic / tv blending would be to buy either a (or 2 if there you want each person to have a mic) gaming headset (link below is about 16 bucks, if you dont care too much about quality of mic/ headset) headset and simply connect it to the computer. Depending on what software you are using to stream (I use StreamLabs OBS, but I only stream on my laptop, not a switch) you should be able to turn off the tv audio, use the switch for audio that is directly jacked (I am not sure if a HDMI cord will work, you might need an audio jack, ill post a link below to a subreddit for it) into your computer for your stream, and use your mic on the headset(s) if you want to talk (Prob need to be in a discord call or something so your computer can use the audio coming off of the desktop). If you do not want to use a headset, then I would still use the audio coming out of the switch, and buy some sort of mic and share that (like a cheap yeti or something) If you are really worried about the blending and you want to fix that, a ghetto solution would be to download discord and tweak the audio settings (you would either be together in a call or seperate, if you go into setting and select voice you can adjust sensitivity) so it ignores background noise. Take all of this with a grain of salt, as I am not sure what setup you are using and how you have it hooked up / how exactly to start streaming off a switch. Some links:

P.S if you want to add music, you can have it running on the background of your computer and just have the audio of your computer be playing

Best of luck on your stream, hope this helps.

I have it for PC, but you should be made aware that it is STEREO for console and surround sound on PC.

Here's the description from Amazon: "Enjoy a premium 3D audio experience with DTS Headphone:X 7.1 Surround on PC, stereo audio on Mac, PS4, XBox ONE, VR, and mobile."

Because of this I can't recommend it for PS4. You could use iPhone headphones and get the same sound quality.

I suggest these Turtle Beach for console
I've had 2 pairs of these and they are the best value for your money that I've come across.

u/thisguyandrew · 0 pointsr/gaming

Well if you are playing on pc or ps4, the Turtlebeach PX4s are treating me very nicely. They are wireless but also have a super long cord if you don't wanna have to deal with charging it, though the battery life is phenomenal. I would definitely recommend it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00NHV0XV0/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1452364059&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=px4&dpPl=1&dpID=41JnfD%2BFvML&ref=plSrch#
They are a lot cheaper now then when I bought them so that's a plus for you, I bought for 140$ a year ago but they are about 80$ now.

u/_Kryptik_ · 1 pointr/playstation

The Gold is wireless-only (if you want to take advantage of all features). The wired option is using a 3.5mm patch cord to the controller, and would mean no VSS and a noted reduction in sound quality.

The wired equivalent from Sony is the Playstation Silver. Virtually the same specs as Gold, but with a flip-down boom mic (no noise cancellation). I own the Silver, and have commented on it in other threads. If you specifically want wired, they are a great option that support VSS through a single USB connection (third-party require USB for chat audio plus a toslink connection for game audio).

The Silver is available for just under $35 on Amazon; throw in a $1 item and get free shipping on your order.

u/kingethjames · 24 pointsr/AmItheAsshole

This is the golden era of headsets. If you're listening to wow quietly on speakers, I absolutely guarantee you that you can get a headset with a nice mic as well for less than 35 dollars, IF you want one that sounds pretty good. You'll never go back to quiet speakers in a dorm again. Just check amazon

Edit: for example, this is the one I'm currently using. No issues yet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078RJGK35/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_SxIZBb5GBDCYE

u/kezzic · 1 pointr/playstation

That's actually 110% fine, and you've actually given me an affordable solution to my problem, seeing as my primary problem is the inability to adjust chat and game volume via remote. It is hard to hear my friends voices in some games, and so I have been adjusting the in-game volume down, which is kind of a nuisance. I may lose the functionality of microphone-muting because the headset itself doesn't have a built-in switch, but that is a-ok.

The $100 MixAmp also does not have a built-in microphone mute switch, so I'd rather get the SilverAmp because of cost. Also, the PS4 amps/sound cards have that system application to adjust sound profiles, which is a neat addition that I would be able to utilize by using the 1st party remote.

I don't really know who to be frustrated with. Either Sony's lack of support for the HyperX sound card, or with the HyperX Cloud II itself. The quality of the damned headset blows my mind; I use it at school, work, and at home. It was advertised to work with PS4, but in reality, HyperX's solution is to avoid the card entirely and plug into the controller. I don't know if Sony could possibly patch 3rd party support in the future?

Thank you for doing so much legwork in the testing, I really appreciate it, and I will most likely be purchasing the Silver set/amp. I expect that the SilverAmp should work, but when I do end up purchasing the set (probably next paycheck), I will update this thread with full explanation up top for Googlers.

tl;dr

the SilverAmp that comes with the PS Silver Headset provides game and chat volume control (link); the MixAmp (link) does the exact same thing for more $$$. Neither have microphone mute switches.

Also in Canada and have been watching prices - BestBuy has the core set (helmet only, no camera, games, or controllers) on sale until August 24 for $449 CAD (normally $549). Amazon.ca and EB Games were matching the price, but they might go back to $550 once the BestBuy sale ends.

I haven't been able to find the camera for less than $75, and I already have two Move controllers, so I pulled the trigger on this deal. Here's how it rang up with shipping to Ottawa:

> Item(s) Subtotal: $399.99

> Shipping & Handling: $34.93

> Promotion Applied: -$100.00

> Total before tax: $334.92

> Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00

> Import Fees Deposit $53.60

> Grand Total: $388.52

According to XE.com, that's currently $495 CAD. Considering the price of the included games, I don't think you can do better than this in Canada, even with the shipping, taxes, and exchange rate.

Edit: Here's the Amazon.ca price history for the core set and the camera. Game prices on the Canadian PS Store: $39.99 for RIGS, $24.99 for Until Dawn - Rush of Blood, $29.99 for VR Worlds.

Edit 2: Looks like Walmart.ca has the core for 399.99 CAD. Better deal if you already have the camera or don't want the games.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, if there is a better sub, point me in the right direction, please!

My brothers girlfriend is buying him a gaming headset, wanted my imput. I dont know much about these, thought id ask here.
She wants to buy him a "HyperX HX-HSCAM-GM Cloud MIX Wired Gaming Headset + Bluetooth"

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-HX-HSCAM-GM-Gaming-Headset-Bluetooth/dp/B07KQXH65Z

Is there a better one for that price (which seems pricey to me) or a similar quality one for less? I think shes prefer to get him a better on for the same price, if possible. They live in london, so probably buying from something like Amazon.co.uk

Who are good reviews for such things?

I can understand the mini map annoyance. I’ve never really noticed it, but thanks to you I’ll probably notice is from here on out, which sucks haha. But dude, definitely invest in a headset. I got this one from Amazon. It’s by no means a top notch headset, but it most definitely gets the job done without breaking the bank. My only issue with it is that it’s pretty fucking bulky and starts to hurt after a few hours of playing. But still, cheap and does what I need it to.

> to use for gaming

Are you looking for a headset in other words or do you already have a dedicated (desk) mic ?

Unless you go for the Audeze Mobius (which is 400$ atm) there's only two series of gaming headsets that are worth their money, both based their design on an actual existing headphones (Takstar pro 82, 80)

The newer Hyper X models (Cloud, Cloud Mix) and the Coolermaster MH752/MH751.

Any of these will give you: excellent comfort, good build quality, a removable cable and a removable microphone for either 75, 100 or 200 $.

u/Corvo_LoL · 2 pointsr/gaymers

Uhhh, I have Astro A40s with mix-amp pro. Good quality, doesn't require recharging and has long cables. You can find it here for Best Buy if you need it ASAP.

Best Buy matches Amazon's price which can be found here since they are in stock, shipped, and sold by Amazon.

If mono is your thing (it is for me, I like to hear my game sound through TV and any talk through headset) then you could pick up the Turtle Beach P4C £16.99

Had mine for over 2 years now, amazingly good value for money and definitely comfortable to wear (I use it for Skype now more than PS4 controller)

u/digital0verdose · 1 pointr/oculus

These headphone fit perfectly over the halo. I used them with the PSVR and I am happy they work just as well on the Rift S: HyperX Cloud Revolver S

u/Avenflame · 1 pointr/xboxone

You missed out on a great headset when it was on sale at $40 (Polk Striker ZX)

Without a sale, your best bet currently is the Tritton Kama or Kunai series. It's value for money at $30-$40 on Amazon. (Assuming that you're using the newer controllers with the 3.5mm jack)

Or look for a Sades headset like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01A73ZH34/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xX3BxbC6SN4W2

Good luck.

Hi again!
I am just home now and all is working well with OBS so thanks for that! I am still having that problem however with my Headset.
What I want:
-To have sound coming through my headset connected to my PS4 AND to record sound on OBS of my game at the same time.

What's happening:

  • If I want the sound of my game to record on OBS, it only records it when I don't have my headset connected to my PS4. In other words, it only records sound when the OUTPUT is from my TV. I cant have sound coming from into my headset and record on OBS at the same time, from my understanding.

I am hoping it is a software issue where it can be solved by changing a setting. However, I think it might have something to do with using a splitter of some sort like this.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
u/Melchiah_III · 2 pointsr/PS4Pro

I hear the PlayStation Gold wireless headset (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078TCLYVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_27V5AbE7EBWBS) works really well. I’ve never used them personally; I just plug my Bose headset directly into the controller and it works great, so if you already have a pair that you like I would recommend trying that first, any headset with a standard audio jack will work.

u/monkey484 · 5 pointsr/PS4

If you're looking for wireless absolutely go with the Sony Gold headset (or wait for the platinum but I don't think price has been announced yet).

If you're looking for wired check out the HyperX Cloud 2s as mentioned before or the Sony Silver. The Silver uses the same in house surround sound as the Golds but in a wired format as well and will run you $30 on amazon.

EDIT
It seems like the Silvers are prone to breaking, but the same has been said for the Golds and my golds are still going strong and I bought them right after they came out.

u/Cerrenade · 2 pointsr/Twitch

Does the robotic sound happen while you are in a PS4 voice chat with your friends? This happens to me as well and goes away after a short amount of time, but it seems to happen with all sorts of headsets, so I've heard, from others and my own experiences.

I currently use my Astro A40s with the MixAmp Pro, my ElGato HD60, as well as a Blue Snowball Mic. In order for my party chat to hear me on the PS4, I had to buy this, which plugs from the MixAmp Pro to the bottom of your controller (I use my Astros for PS4 party chat since the mic quality isn't the best, and my Blue Snowball as my Desktop mic for my stream).

u/n0vadragon · 1 pointr/AstroGaming

i have my astro mixamp connected to my PC and PS4 and get sound through both at the same time without having to move cables around often

I have the mixamp plugged into my PC and get sound through the USB while i have the ps4 connected to the mixamp via Aux. If i decide to play on xbox i can just move the aux cable from the ps4 to the xbox1.

As for chatting i have a Yeti mic for my pc. Since i had an old mixamp with a 2.5mm port for the 360, i bought a 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable that goes from the mixamp to the ps4 controller (bought something like this two years ago). i dont know if the newer a40 systems provide the 2.5 to 3.5mm cable or the amp still has the 2.5mm port.

I like having two separate mics because i can easily choose who i want to talk to if im on discord as well as a ps4 party at the same time. I can just mute the mic from astros with the mute toggle on the headset wire or press the mute button on the yeti.

u/BrewersFanJP · 5 pointsr/ffxiv

I use the PX4 Turtle Beach headset. Transmitter connects to PS4 via optical audio cable, and then wirelessly to the headset. It can also connect to your phone via bluetooth so you can talk on your chat program. (It also has a 3.5mm port for dedicated chat, which I use with a splitter to connect to my PC for chat through TeamSpeak.)

The price is $120 new, but I found mine refurbished for around $70 (I think). Sound quality is well worth it. You might be able to find another Turtle Beach headset that will work for less, but the challenge with the PS4 is that the only dedicated audio channel is the optical audio out port. However, if cost isn't an issue, then this is a good headset to use.

It's made by Turtle Beach for their older headsets. It's branded for the PS4 but it's the same one you need for the XB1 as well with a 2.5mm jack on one end and a 3.5mm on the other. I have that cable for my PX5's and it works perfectly with both the XB1 and PS4.

Sony Platinum headset that came out Dec 16/Jan 17, it also supports 3D sound which currently is support by Uncharted 4, Horizon and MLB the Show. So that's what that included adaptor is for! I was able to find it, which will make my search simpler. Only reason that I thought a single port was available is because one seems to be included in the official PS4 Wired Headset but I wasn't going to buy it just for the adaptor when my headphones are already much nicer. Sennheiser is the best of the best, but be ready to pay $100-200 premium for same quality as Beyerdynamic until you start getting close to $800 plus where no one can keep up with Sennheiser.

As for speakers, they don't tend to really get "good" unless you start spending ungodly money. I use these, but it's nothing crazy, just something I use for when I don't feel like wearing headphones (most single player games).

If you want a headset instead of headphones I recommend these.

I enjoy these way more than the golds. They have a dongle just like the golds which includes a special optical cable that connects from the dongle to the optical port on the PlayStation. The extra wire is visually unpleasant but I hardly notice it anymore.

The battery life on these is way better than the golds. I chare my headset once every week-10 days and it charges fully in about an hour.

The only downside to these (based on your post) is the game audio always comes out of the TV which is easily solved by turning the TV volume down.

I've used these:
https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-ear-Headset/dp/B006PP3ZK6
They work well enough and plug directly into the controller. I had trouble with people hearing me through the mic though...
Or you could get these:
https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Silver-Wired-Stereo-Headset/dp/B00NE5D4SS/
They have decent sound/mic and work great with PS4. Also, it's one plug into the USB port. Some of the other suggestions have what look like odd setups with a mic/sound splitter that goes into the controller and a USB that goes into the PS4 which just looks like a mess.

I do agree with other posters here that suggest to spend $$ on good headphones that will last. I've had enough cheap ones in the past that didn't last very long, or had slightly subpar sound, etc.. There is a motto I try to follow "Buy it nice or buy it twice". Every time I get something cheap and it ends up breaking or otherwise a pain I have to remember my own motto and shake my head.

If you can't get USB working, is there a way you can get optical or coax output from your PC into the AD18? A lot of motherboards have one or both onboard.

If not, you could try something like this. It's a "PS4" sound device but appears to be a standard old USB device that will work on a PC as well.

You won't be taking a hit in fidelity or anything like that, either way you'll be getting pure digital 1's and 0's to the AD18.

(Sorry I can't troubleshoot the AD18 USB directly, I don't have one)

Hi. I wanted to comment on this because I recently got this headset and I spent some time experimenting with some diffo sound mixes. What I've tried so far is just regular ole stereo that downmixes whatever you put in, the dolby headphones that this virtual 7.1 surround card does, and dolby atmos for headphones and here's what I've learned from the 3 compared.

So with both both Dolby Headphones and Dolby Atmos Headphones you get this awesome expanded sound stage and it sounds like the sound is more 'out of your head' and helps alleviate the cramped sound stage inherent to closed back headphones. However, the sound card's solution (Dolby Headphones) adds a ton of reverb so situations where you're listening to vocals or someone talking it sounds like they're in a really echo-y room. On top of that, dolby headphones completely destroyed positional sound for me. I no longer could tell the source of a noise, a problem I didn't have with Dolby Atmos Headphones or with plain ole stereo.

TBH, I think the dongle/usb sound card you get is garbage. My xbox one controller appears to have a higher ohm output (based on very non-scientific listening tests) and the virtual surround sound is worthless unless you are only listening to very textured music and don't mind the reverb.

Dolby Atmos Headphones was p. great though. I got the best of both worlds and didn't notice any sound degradation. Fortunately, since it's just software, you can use it with any set of headphones. Unfortunately I can't get it on my linux work station when I'm listening to music during the work day :/

That was a lot of unsolicited opinion, but I hope it's helpful anyhow.

EDIT: I'm actually not sure if the dongle is 'Dolby Headphones' or a diffo technology. Either way I didn't like w/e the dongle was doing to my positional sound.

I use the Turtle Beach PX4 (http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Surround-PlayStation-Headset-TBS-3276-01-4/dp/B00EI4V3X2), and I love it. I have it set up to work with my PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 through an optical audio switcher (http://www.amazon.com/Nyrius-SW100-Digital-Selector-Compatible/dp/B000812QC6), and everything works perfectly. You do need to pick up the chat cable for the appropriate console separately if you want to use the microphone while gaming, but those are also available on Amazon and / or Turtle Beach's website.

If you want to see another headset that works and sounds amazing, check out these bad boys, they are also cheaper:

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00EI4V3X2/ref=ox_ya_os_product_refresh_C

They connect via USB for power, and SPDIF (Optical) audio stream. Come with a decoder that enhances the audio and is a wireless headset, minus that you have to have it plugged into the controller for chat as the mute button won't work till a future firmware update from Sony.

Are they purposely making it hard for headset companies? haha :)

I currently use ASTRO A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro TR. The white is for Xbone and the black is for Playstation. To get these to work on PC you just need to plug in via USB and you get Dolby 5.1 and chat. On console you need the optical cable for sound and USB in console for chat. I really likes these headphones because I use my PC and console at the same desk and this actually allows me to chat on my PC while getting audio from my Xbox at the same time. The amp even has a built in volume mixer for chat audio and game audio. It's really nice.

Are you sure? Pretty sure no Bluetooth headphones can pair with the PS4. Even the PS4 Wiki says...

Yes.

The link above is to Amazon, and your headset is listed. I bought mine through Turtle Beach's site at launch, but I didn't see it quickly after I googled it and I'm working so I'll let you find it cheaper! But $10 is still a great deal to avoid buying a new headset.

These are made for PSVR. Not too expensive, more flexible so they fit over the headset, and 2 separate cords (one longer for regular use and one shorter for VR use). I enjoy them a lot.

Been sold out since day 1 here in Tokyo, no where to even demo (Kinda ironic with Sony HQ here and a pop of 40 mil). People were getting from Amazon US and paying even more ($70+) for import duty fees/shipping But now Amazon US looks sold out too, same with the Pro.

I don't know where u are but apparently Amazon.ca has some at around normal price. Just checked and they're in stock for about $550 Canadian ($416 US dollars), new, free prime shipping, but don't think they ship outside Canada...

This PX4 is a pretty good bang for your buck. Especially if you already have the headset adapter from your current headset. Wireless, but plugs into the adapter for chat. The PS4 chat cable will work fine with the Xbox One adapter. And surround sound. This is basically the same as the Stealth 500x but uses a cable for chat as oppose to being 100% wireless.

Though I don't have a link, I'm sure there are many adapters to break out the Headphone and Microphone connectors so it can be used with a Standard Computer. In fact, I would suspect most Gaming Headphone Sets would come with this adapter.

https://www.amazon.com/Sound-Blaster-Audio-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B00GNHSL8C

https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Splitter-Computer-Headphone-Smartphone/dp/B01I7SS3EQ

Here you can see a set of headphones that comes with such an adapter.

https://www.amazon.com/Sades-Lightweight-Headset-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B01A73ZH34

I'm surprised your headphones did not come with such an adapter. Both the adapters above are marked. One connector has a Headphone Symbol and the other has a Microphone Symbol.

You want to make sure the adapter you find is a single 4 pole (TRRS) socket that breaks out into two 3 Pole (TRS) plugs. Though likely the Mic could function only needs 2-poles (TS). But 3-Pole probably makes it more versatile.

A Headphone "Y" connector you linked to is going to be one 3-pole in and two 3-pole out. That's not going to work. You specifically need 4-poles (TRRS) in and TWO 3-poles out (TRS).

u/FlyingRock · 1 pointr/ZReviews

not exactly what you're looking for but I bought the terrible playstation silver headset pre-owned for $10 bucks, proceeded to junk the headset its self and use the usb adapter it came with, I have the same setup you have (SHP9500+Boompro), using it you can download the Headset Companion app on the PS4, it offers a few profiles and some basic EQ, which offers marginally more bass or treble but reality is the SHP9500 just doesnt bass and you'd be better off getting a second pair of cans for bass.

It also has "7.1 virtual surround sound" which does offer better location awareness on the PS4 but not tons.

u/Red_Knightmare · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Oh, I know your issue. I had this back when I first bought my X1.

Your setup is right, but the talkback cables turtle beach headsets use have different poles than regular 2.5/3.5 cables. I don't know the specifics, but they're easily found if you google it.

You need the specific proprietary cable that goes from the headset to the controller. Specifically this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HS5FETM/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1464513217&sr=8-3&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=turtlebeach+talkback+cable+ps4&dpPl=1&dpID=31urCCMyjfL&ref=plSrch

I had the same issue and couldn't fix it until I used this cable rather than a standard one. I tried multiple cables, and I couldn't get chat to go through (but I could still hear people) until I put this one in.

u/GamingTurtle90 · 2 pointsr/xboxone

I agree with RossaF1. I have speakers on my display but I have an old Soundblaster Omega 3D headset that uses a 3.5 audio jack on the receiver base. Rather then plug it into my display or run it to the control I use the Turtle beach optical to 3.5 convert from the ps4 kit below. This would allow you to just hook up the Xbox One to any pair of 3.5 jack speakers.

>Even though everyone gets a mic with their PS4, I've never met a single person using a mic in 7 hours of playing.

While I don't necessarily agree with you (I would absolutely hate if everyone would be allowed to talk everyone, especially in the tower), can we please talk about that PS4 mic?

Honestly, I feel it would have been better if they just didn't give anyone a mic in the first place. If you would want everyone to talk, you wouldn't want them to be using this mic. I used it because I didn't have anything else in the house (and my PS3 bluetooth headset doesn't work ...) and it's just absolutely god-awful.

Something like this is only going to cost you about 20 bucks and will probably be dramatically better than that piece of shit they give you.

After many many years of online gaming I personally don't think any game should allow voice chat "out of the box", but that's just my opinion. In any case, sony hasn't done anyone a favour with that mic.

Currently I'm just using my Astro A40's. Is it overkill? Maybe, but they're comfortable and they stay put without having to constantly readjust them. A giant plus is that they completely drown out any trainer noise (and the wife 😆), so it's just me and the music, trainer video, or whatever it is that I'm listening to.

Do they still make the Razer Chimera 5.1? I had a pair for the 360 back when black ops 2 came out and it was a fantastic headset comfortable and great sound. I actually used them up until last year nonstop not because they broke or were bad quality but because I wanted to update my gear (Razer gear never wants to break which can be a little annoying when you end up using the same mouse/headset for 5+ years). I do need to give you a heads up though if you do buy the RC5.1 you need to buy an adapter caple to have the mic work for chat on ps4 the RC5.1 was designed for 360 if I remember correctly this is the one I bought when I switched from 360 to ps4 https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1520360534&sr=8-4&keywords=turtle+beach+chat+adapter+ps4

If you already have a place to plug in the auxiliary cable of the headset, you only need a PS4 chat cable.

Turtle Beach doesn't sell these cables by themselves anymore, presumably so they can make more money by including them in the upgrade kit.
