Most mechanical keycaps are pretty universal if you're just looking for WASD or any of the small keys. Space bars and shift and enter etc. are where it gets fishy with stabilizer bars. So you shouldn't have a problem if you really just wasnt WASD or QWERDF or something like that. The custom mechanical keyboard community is pretty lively so you should have plenty of options although I recommend these:

If you want to keep it consistently Razer, they have QWERASD, but for whatever there's no F key, so if you're a MOBA kinda guy, you're at a loss unfortunately. But these are nice nice keycaps nonetheless.

There's custom keycaps you can have made at MaxKeyboard that are real neat. You can make an icon in Photoshop and submit it to them for a backlight compatible keycap. They also have some premade icons even a bunch for CSGO, if you're into that. You can also pick your spacebar, Window sizes so you definitely can get what you need, but you'll have to do some research about your particular spacebar, ctrl, Windows key sizes. Definitely love these keycaps, though.

As for textured keycaps, WASDKeyboards has some different textures that are nice, although they are not backlight compatible.

Honestly, textured caps hasn't ever really been my thing, so maybe my textured suggestions aren't great, but I highly recommend the metallic Razer caps and the custom MaxKeyboard caps. Good luck!

Super easy 20 minute upgrade. Your sticks will feel better than before since these are metal and rubber. And they are held in with magnets allowing you to switch the stick height on the fly. The kit comes with 2 dpads, so you can choose which one you want.

i tried the elite controller but just wasn't a fan of how all the parts could come off, so i stick to a regular controller since they're way easier to replace and i love the bluetooth functionality. i use the x1 controller with the snes classic and emulators on my android devices and it works wonderfully.

i could understand if you got too used to the paddles though. i would have loved those when i was really into online fps a while ago.

Just my two cents as a new boot in Sim Racing, but I think you may be over estimating the necessity of FFB at first. Once you have it, you know how much it adds to the immersion, and that may be coloring your opinion as to how important it is to a new person.

As for the controller i recommend , its quite expensive but its the best looking one around at the moment. Theres also a pink edition thats like 50$ right now.

AFAIK there may be some around but suspect they're not as easy/efficient. Seriously I know you say you don't want a cradle charge dock but they are awesome. I have this Venom one and truly love it, okay you get a battery pack to put into the controller and a different door with two metal touch plates but you place the cradle on the charger dock when not in use and it charges it up, it never runs out of battery ever and I do 10-12 hour gaming sessions and you don't need to plug anything in to charge it, the dock system you plug into the mains via USB charger cable and just place controllers onto the dock when you've finished gaming.

The basic controllers are within a couple of quid of each other price wise, but one includes a rechargeable battery. I'm not saying I want to get rid of the option to use AAs too, just that it would be great to have a rechargeable pack as a base feature too.

The primary keyboard I use on my gaming machine is a HyperX Alloy FPS with the additional textured keycaps. I also have a set of o-rings installed to dampen the noise. I like it quite a lot.

The keyboard I use on my streaming machine is a Razer Black Widow Stealth Ultimate 2014.

This is just an outright new controller for 36UK, this contains the 3.5m built into the controller

Spectra controller. Perfectly fits the needs of a PC, as it doesn't have a mic slot for the actual console. I have one as well and I love it. You can set solid color, "breathing" to different colors, or hard switching through the colors.

The problem with the 360 d-pad wasn't that it was a disc shape, but the well it sat in wasn't large or deep enough, so you would hit the edges of its housing without making contact with the switch below the d-pad. Effectively making you lose inputs.

The Xbox One pad is much better, as it doesn't have this design flaw. You'll probably want to try and get the newer Xbox One S pads though, as they seem to have improved the quality.

Frankly I could never live without back buttons after getting used to having them. The Steam controller is a better value for that price point, but it's also just tremendously weird. The Fusion looks like a pretty decent entry-level conventional-plus-extra-inputs controller.

But I recommend going with the rechargeable Eneloop AA's as already mentioned. The Eneloop batteries will last 3x longer than either the energizer or nyko batteries, you can use them as regular AA's for things other than an Xbox one controller, you never have to put your controller on a docking station - just keep a pair of AA's charging and swap them out when you need to.

You can buy a wired XB1 controller, sure, but I was just talking about the new wireless controllers w/ Bluetooth specifically (the special edition ones that they released this month look really cool... I can't imagine picking up a basic controller over one like this.)

The Xbox Elite controller once you can retrain your brain to use the paddles is a game changer.especially in shooters where the trigger locks can literally make you faster than the other guy.

I choose the Razer Saber Elite Gaming Controller for Xbox 360 for use on PC. I have been really happy with the quality and general feel of it.

I also have a couple of cheap POWER A Xbox One Spectra Controllers for when my nieces and nephews are over so we can play some co-op games.

Get two t16000's and this racing wheel + pedals. You only really want the pedals from this set up but they are the best pedals you can get for cheap. The reason you get this wheel too is that if the pedals ever go, you can plug the t3pa's into that wheel. Someone might say that you should go with flight pedals instead, but you don't need the side to side rudder action that is the main function of flgith pedals and most flight pedals out there have serious drawbacks unless you shell out the big bucks. RIght stick x = yaw, y = pitch, z = roll. Left stick x = horizontal strafe, y = vertical strafe. Your pedals are set to forward and reverse strafe.

Wait wait wait. Those are Cherry Keys. Any Cherry keycaps will work. Forgot how expensive those G710's are, he's good with his keyboard. Just get the caps.

You can get the Microsoft one that has a lot more features and an extra mic for $30, or you can get an Ortz chatpad that has less features and is $25. I really like my Microsoft one. You can map keys to do certain things, like pull up the friends list or take a game clip in the push of a button. There's a lot of complaints on Amazon about the Microsoft one but I've never had a problem.

I went for the cheapest one I could find on Amazon, which at the time was this Venom one. Works fine, batteries have never run out during use (longest session probably 8 hours), stand feels cheap but holds the controllers fine. I've since picked up the 360 version which also works fine (have both hooked up to a 6-port USB charger, but will also work hooked up to the console).

I would personally reccomend buying a bundle with a Black or White stratocaster, even though you get the rivals expansion with the Jaguar bundle, the jaguar is a peice of trash because it's impossible to activate starpower easily, and the whammy is terrible if you play with it inverted and use your pinky to whammy like I do.

There was an armed forces one in green digital camo that I thought looked extremely cool. Very subtle design. Not sure if it's out yet.

I liked the idea of the Fps Dominator until I found out you could use it for Mods and such, Personally I think if you are looking for a budget option the PowerA Fusion controller is the way to go. Thing has 2 built in buttons on the back (set mine to lean left and right) and it's cheaper that a normal controller on amazon. A lot of people also don't know about this one which blows my mind because its so much cheaper than everything else that does the same thing.

If you're willing to splurge on a wired xbox one controller, they're great for Rivals, as well as having native Win10 support. No drivers, no setup, just plug and play. It's what I use for my PC games and it takes a bit to recognize the A/B X/Y swap but in the end, Rivals' controls are changeable and it's just a layout. If you’re comfortable taking apart your controller then you can fix this rather easily. My headset also stopped working so I bought one of these off Amazon and that did the trick:

There were some 3rd party controller chat pads that came out before the official one. They are just wireless keyboards that snap to the controller and connect to a usb dongle, they have the same function as any usb keyboard.

So its the controller. There is a 3.5mm port directly on your xbox so you can plug them in and test them there to be sure but its most likely the controller. Do you have a second one you can test them on?

The xbox controller works and I use a flysky i6x, you will also need smartpropoplus so the PC can see the i6-i6x.

Theres the Razer Sabertooth, it's better than the elite in terms of functions imho, is a bit cheaper, but has worse build quality.

A cheaper alternative are the PowerA Fusion for about 30 $ and the PowerA Fusion Pro for about 80 $. Both have not that premium-feel, but they shouldn't be bad.

It works for Forza too! There are even cheaper ones that only work on Xbone (although I wouldn't recommend that one due to lack of force feedback and no option for a manual shifter).
