  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but on a keto diet we don't have muscle glyogen right? I'll research this if you don't know either

  2. Im curious as to why poly/mono fats? I consume I'd honestly say about 75% saturated and the poly/mono comes in small amounts from oils , chia seeds, hemp seeds & other misc things.

What's the deal with these? Can you site a reference or explain to me like im 5? :O
    Thanks in advance

As far as advice BTHI : Myprotein.com ( #1 usa wholsaler I believe or close to it ) , is a fantastic source and I buy anything I need through them ( which isnt much tbh ; creatine , BCAAs, misc things like gallon hydrators etc.

As far as multivitamin - This one is ranked third on labdoor and the fact it contains an immense amount of herbs, mushrooms , and every mineral / vitamin your body needs for optimal performance ; I have been using this brand for over a year now and 110% recommend it. If you look at the ingredients they are good quality and just an amazing fucking array of awesome things if you read through everything : D !

I take 1/2 of a pill daily on non lifting days , 1 whole pill on lifting days pestle and mortered and mixed into my food. ( always take multi w/ food cuz fat soluble vitamins need fats to bind to )

Heres the link , I ordered it when it was on sale for 13$ but unfortunately the price has gone up but here you go

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009F3RO2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

    Here if you have questions

PS. Good form at the gym during exercises is absolutely crucial too , and stretching is very good post workout to remove stress/toxins too. I have a saying , if you use it, stretch it ; and the harder you train, the harder you must learn to relax through breathing exercises , yoga / stretch variations , BOTH cold / hot showers for inflammation , proper diet , good sleep etc. ( the best thing I've found is a breathing exercise where you belly breathe for about 30 seconds, then hold your breathe until you feel the urge to let go, go a tad longer and SLOWLY release the breathe & let your muscles / body relax. If you try this you will LITERALLY feel the good chemicals being rushed into your body, it's absolutely amazing : ) ))

I started the gym over a year ago @ 120 pounds ( how much of that was actually lean muscle is debatable ) but now I am 140 with about 5-10% body fat , 6 pack, chisled chin ( i judge myself on how chisled my chin is lol X_x ) as this pertains to both your testosterone levels and body fat %.

I have been keto for 4 months now although I do have a yogurt , honey , and a berry smoothie with coconut water and stuffz post workout to help shuttle the upcoming fat / protein loaded meal into growth. I have about 100-150g of carbs at this time.

I only work out twice a week ( if your curious I can give my routine ) , full body , feel amazing & because I practice IF + only spend 4 hours a week at the gym I have plently of time to do research , projects and anyting else really.

I also rollerblade because it's fucking amazing.

Anyways , guna go eat my dessert ( heavy cream , chia seeds , cocoa powder and chocolate stevia ! ) Check out sweet drops for an amazing all natural stevia product . Giant eagle / heinens around here sells them . Absolutely fantastic )

    Cheers broski!

Etsy has really pretty jewelry! A few of my favorites I've seen lately (or ones I've purchased as gifts for friends/family) fave 1, fave 2, fave 3

You said she has a ton of scarves, does she have something more like a cowl? They seem to be super popular lately, and sometimes scarves just don't give you the warmth you want like a cowl does. Here's a cool lookin' one.

Does she have cuddl duds? I have like three pairs and they are the most amazing thing ever. I live in the midwest and pretty sure these are the reason I still have all my limbs after 30+ mins of waiting at bus stops. My favorite is this kind, the 'flexfit' cuz it has a v-neck and has that loop for your thumbs - this would something she'd probably like to wear for running too maybe? They have matching legging/pants version as well.

Some other generic go-to's would be a perfume set from Sephora. The kind that comes with like 10 mini vials and then a voucher for a free full size of whichever you want from the set. Pretty sweet since you don't have to wonder what scent she'd like and even if she already has a fave perfume this gives her a chance to maybe find a new favorite.

This is kind of random, but have you heard of those fruit tablet things that change your taste buds? They sell them here and they're only like $14, I'm giving some as gifts in a gift basket with lemons/limes/grapefruit which from the reviews say they're the most fun to try.

Does she have any TOMS? That's always a great gift. Even in the winter they have different kinds that are more durable rather than the typical slip on TOMS.

A nicer necklace would be great too. My bf got me one from Swarovski for our one year and it was like...the best gift I've ever received. Some of their stuff is kitschy (hello kitty necklaces) but they really have some amazing pendants like this, this, and this.

Does she like reading? A nook could be cool! Or kindle fire, whatever they have out now.

These would be awesome! I've been wanting something like this forever. They were also featured on Shark Tank so that's kind of cool.

How uh...weird is she? This mug looks hilarious. But a more normal & cool looking one would be this!

Looking for mittens and she likes cats? Here ya go!

Wellllp that's all I can come up with right now, hopefully something helped!! :)

A nice ass joint roller and ash tray.

I don't know if you're only asking for weed related things, but this 15 dollar led strip has kinda changed my life lol. It's adhesive and super vibrant, turns your whole room and every thing in it different colors. Great decoration piece as well as party piece. Just peel and stick on the wall right below where it meets the ceiling.

If you're trying to blow a little more cash you can get a laser projector. I have a really nice one and it's one of my favorite things that I own. Super beautiful & trippy. You can spend between 20 and hundreds of bucks on one. I wouldn't advise going much cheaper than the one I linked, because getting a multi pattern one is pretty crucial.

Another amazing thing is Miracle Berry Tablets. It is legitimately called flavor tripping. Makes sour things taste sweet. Makes sweet things taste amazing. Beer is good too. The best things to try are fruits by far. Be sure to have some different berries and such, fruit juice, and definitely some lemons and limes.

I really admire your humble and curious vibe. Thanks for your openness and honesty. I hope my information is useful to you.

I get most of my protein from Vega Protein & Greens. The rest comes from tofu and seitan.

I gain muscle by eating about 1.2g protein per pound of body weight per day and taking my carbs and fat on an as-needed basis.

Make sure you're getting sufficient [calcium] (https://www.amazon.com/Freeda-Kosher-Calcium-Phosphate-Powder/dp/B00GZRHVIQ/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486332590&sr=8-1&keywords=calcium+phosphate), [iodine] (https://www.amazon.com/Kelp-325-natural-iodine-caps/dp/B0009A0LDM/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486332625&sr=8-1&keywords=now%2Bfoods%2Bkelp&th=1), and [B12] (https://www.amazon.com/Deva-Vegan-Multivitamin-Mineral-Supplement/dp/B00146BLM0/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486332657&sr=8-4&keywords=deva+multivitamin).

For bone health, make sure you're getting enough vitamin K. Kale, cabbage, and broccoli all have a lot; alternatively you can [supplement] (https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Vitamin-100mcg-Vcaps/dp/B0013EJ5QM/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486333030&sr=1-4&keywords=vitamin%2Bk2&th=1).

For heart health, make sure you're getting monounsaturated fats (avocados are a good source). These fats should be your primary fat intake, as [replacing saturated fats with monounsaturated fat has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease] (http://www.eatrightpro.org/~/media/eatrightpro%20files/practice/position%20and%20practice%20papers/position%20papers/dietary-fatty-acids-paper-.ashx).

For optimal cardiovascular performance and cognitive longevity, make sure you are getting plenty of Omega 3 fatty acids (between [0.5% and 2% of your total energy intake] (http://www.eatrightpro.org/~/media/eatrightpro%20files/practice/position%20and%20practice%20papers/position%20papers/dietary-fatty-acids-paper-.ashx), which is about 5 grams for me). There are 3 primary types you should be concerned with: ALA, EPA, and DHA. I get my ALA from flaxseeds; chia seeds are also a valuable source but I like the taste of flaxseeds better. For DHA and EPA, I use [these capsules] (https://www.amazon.com/Potent-Vegan-Supplement-Essential-Vitamin/dp/B00QCR00SW/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486332828&sr=8-1&keywords=amala+vegan+omega+3); there are several competing products that perform the same function on Amazon. These are a sustainable, vegan alternative to fish oil capsules.

Congratulations on the choices you've made so far. :) I hope you find ever-better solutions for improving your health and helping the environment. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

u/[deleted] · 7 pointsr/Mommit

Expecting mom here, due in September. Here are some tips that I have. Take what you like, discard the rest!

  • Start taking prenatal vitamins with 800 mcg Folic Acid every day, BEFORE you get pregnant (try to aim for 3 months before, at least). I cannot stress this enough. The sooner you start, the better. Your husband should also be taking a vitamin with 800 mcg Folic Acid. Folic acid has been linked to helping prevent genetic disorders. Since you each contribute half of the genes for your child, the extra chromosome for autism can come either of you. Sperm takes over two months to produce, so have your husband start taking a vitamin asap. It is important that you both do this. I suggest these vitamins, as they are super easy on the stomach and don't have extra, unneeded chemicals in them: Men's Vitamin. Women's Prenatal Vitamin Source: Cell & Molecular Biology major with genetics research background

  • Don't worry about the money situation too much. Yes, it will be hard. Yes, you will have to work harder than you ever have had to. Yes, you CAN MAKE IT WORK. You will find a way to make it work. Get in the habit of tracking where your money is being spent. Can you cut down on eating out? Do you really need that movie on blue-ray? Rather than buying a $7 gallon of ice cream, buy a bunch of bananas for $3. Your body and your wallet will thank you.

  • When you do become pregnant, apply for WIC. You may qualify and there is no shame in asking for a little bit of extra help. It will help you eat healthier and allow you to put that saved money towards things for your little one.

  • Locate a second hand children's clothing store in your area. Not everything will be cheaper than buying new, but many secondhand stores will have infant socks for 25 cents a pair, onsies for $1, and even second hand maternity clothes. You will save a LOT of money buying maternity clothes second hand. I was able to get 3 pairs of Motherhood Maternity jeans for $35 at my local secondhand store (and saved over $70 in the process). Why pay full price on clothes you will only wear for 6 months?

  • Consider the cost of childcare. Bottom line, daycare is expensive. I know you stated that you both have to work in order to pay the bills. Find out what the cost of child care is in your area. It may come out to be that the cost of child care is almost the same as one of your salaries, depending on how much you make. If this is the case, consider having the parent who makes less (whether it's you or your husband) be a stay-at-home parent and only work part time. Why pay someone almost your entire salary to raise your child for you? (My husband will be a stay-at-home dad. He's so excited he can hardly stand it.) If a relative is going to watch your child, make sure that you are willing to give them money for food and such.

  • Be weary of accepting second hand car seats. UV rays from sunlight degrade plastics (Source: I asked a polymer chemist professor) and the safety standards for car seats get better every year. If it is over 5 years old, don't take it. Yes, that new car seat will be between $100-$300. Your child's safety is worth it.

    Edit: Period between hyperlinks.

It's not really that meaningful, but something fun + cheap...

http://www.amazon.com/mberry-Miracle-Fruit-Tablets/dp/B001LXYA5Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291079636&sr=8-1

They are available on Thinkgeek as well. I did this one year, you address the packet of tablets to "everyone", and then wrap a lemon and/or lime for each person. The tablets, when dissolved on your tongue, make sour things taste sweet, so you can have a mini taste party. It's pretty cool and yummy, it makes a fresh lemon taste like sweet lemonade. Again, not very meaningful, and people will go "huh?" when they open the lemon, but once they try it it can be fun and something cool to experience. Supposedly the tablets are also pretty good for anyone that might need to keep away from sugar, because they can make things taste sweet without adding any sweetener.

I understand what you're going through and I really feel for you. I have the same exact problem with my son. He's a preemie, so he's smaller than normal already and I worry about him constantly. Besides being smaller than average, the doctor says he's healthy and developing properly though.

I just try to give him a decent variety of foods to eat throughout the day. I usually end up throwing everything away, but sometimes he surprises me and eats a whole bunch of something. He won't eat any fruits or vegetables but sometimes he'll eat muffins I bake, so I'll make pumpkin muffins or apple sauce muffins for him. I add ground flax seed or a bit of powdered protein for extra vitamins. Some days he eats them, some days he doesn't.

I've bought him lots of different vitamins but he doesn't take them, even gummy ones, so I just bought a new liquid vitamin to try. I put small amounts in his juice throughout the day instead of giving it to him all at once. I haven't gotten him to drink a full cup of it with the vitamins mixed in yet, but hopefully the little bit he's getting helps.

Since he's more likely to drink than to eat, I buy drinks high in protein, like this. I've also tried different kinds of smoothies (he doesn't like them). I give him organic whole milk because he asks for that now.

I grow veggies and picking them himself doesn't even get him interested. He likes telling me yuck when I ask him what he thinks about most food.

Hopefully it's all just a phase and nothing else is going on with your son's health. I would start with a call to your pediatrician's office and ask to speak with a nurse. The nurse should be able to tell you if you should bring him in or not and what you should do next. Good luck and I hope everything turns out ok!

> how long is the shelf life after the've been soaked but not cooked

I believe a couple days? I haven't really left them for long than that. Once they're cooked they can be kept a couple days too.

-----

Quick note on time saving: If you wanted to cook beans regularly, time saving options here include a slow cooker (very cheap- you can sometimes find them for 10 or even 5 bucks at yard sales- but very slow), or a cheap rice cooker (no more than 35$ new, tops) with automatic shut-off, which both allow you to throw them in a pot with water and leave them to cook while you do other things. However, if you're in the kitchen cooking other things anyway, you can always start by putting on a pot of beans (always start the longest-cooking foods like grains/beans first, then do the shorter cooking fruits/vegetables, to save time, and their cooking times will kind of "line up" at the end.).

-----

The TL;DR: about your B12 questions is going to be that "the differences aren't huge."

> Is daily B12 less expensive [vs. weekly]

I haven't compared them yet, but let's do that now!

Daily you want 100 milligrams of cyanocobalamin B12, weekly you want 1000 milligrams of cyanocobalamin B12 (and it's recommended you take it twice weekly).

So here's a brand, Deva, that has 100 milligrams (so it's daily) and costs about $11.90 without shipping, for 90 tablets.

Another brand, Natural Nutra has 1000 milligrams (so it's "weekly", but we'll be following the recommendation to take this amount twice weekly) and costs about $12.01 without shipping, for 30 tablets (which means 30/2= 15 weeks of pills because we want to take twice weekly, which is 15*7 = 105 total days).

Deva: $11.90/90 days = 13.2 cents a day

Natural Nutra: $12.01/105 days = 11.4 cents a day

So they're very close in price (and the Deva daily multivitamin even includes other things. If you found an only B12 daily, it might be even lower in price, and the difference even smaller).

> or more effective than weekly B12

Weekly B12 is potentially slightly more effective because higher single doses are absorbed better than lower single doses. In a very small number of people, very high doses of B12 may increase acne. Those are about the only differences I've read about. Again, neither dosage amount is a safety concern.

In the end, the cost and medical differences aren't really that big, so you may want to choose based on other factors, like convenience.

Are you ready for my dream/comfort meal? If not, stop reading, once you start I'm not sure you can unsee the tastiness.

Appetizer: cold beer. Meal: Rice, beans, steak, collared greens and other green veggies, fresh salad, some crispy toppings like cucumbers/onions/tomatoes. Mango/fruit mousse for dessert (surprisingly easy to make a cheat version by doing equal parts prepared jello liquid and ice cream and freezing it into a yummy mousse). And a super strong espresso or more beer for after dinner..

Welcome to South America! :)

Edit these! Speaking of food, Miracle Berries are supposed to be hilariously amazing. Eating a lemon and having it taste like lemonade? Yes please.

u/kurihara · 21 pointsr/todayilearned

Here's the kind that I bought, there's a lot of brands but this one seemed to have the best reviews. Not too pricey, and it was a fun experience, I'd recommend it at least once. Just get a potluck going with a group of friends!

Edit: Make sure to try wasabi. It tastes like ice cream, it was my favorite of all the things I tried.

I think the memory improvement is from other stuff I am taking at night before I go to bed. The modafinil is strictly a caffeine replacement for me, which also helps me avoid sugar, in the energy drinks.

AM

  • 100mg Modvigil Modafinil - modafinilcat - when I wake up, takes about 30 minutes for me to notice the effects
These next two are for muscle health, taken in the morning with 32 ounces of water

  • 750mg Beta-Alanine by NOW Link: http://amzn.com/B001AWSR34 ( I like the way this makes my skin tingle )

    PM

  • 2000mg Now Foods Glycine 1000mg, Capsules, 100-Count by Now Foods Link: http://amzn.com/B00UNH0TO2 - helps me sleep and is supposed to help your body process stored fat cells, in other words it should help burn fat

  • 200mg Now Foods L-Theanine Veg Capsules, 200 mg, 120 Count by Now Foods Link: http://amzn.com/B00GQV9YX6 - helps with sleep, and calm clear thoughts

  • 100mg Douglas Laboratories ® - Chelated Magnesium - 100 Tabs by Douglas Labs Link: http://amzn.com/B0013FVLIQ - apparently according to my dr, and chiro the modafinil can deplete magnesium from your system and cause sore muscle or bone aches, I take this to counter that and dont have that issue anymore with the modafinil

  • 1 Now Foods True Calm Amino Relaxer by NOW Link: http://amzn.com/B0006U6IMI

  • 1 500mg NOW Foods Choline and Inositol, 100 Capsules / 500mg by Now Foods Link: http://amzn.com/B001F0R65Q

  • 0.5 Rainbow Light Men's One Multivitamin by Rainbow Light Link: http://amzn.com/B0007YCC7S - I take a half at night otherwise I get an upset stomach and I feel like I am peeing it all out if I take the whole thing.

If anyone could suggest changes or something I might add, I am welcome to suggestions. I mostly made this list for myself so I can see what I am taking each day.
u/cinderflight · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Oh dear, I don't have the best jokes but I am going to try....

Q: How do cells in the body talk to each other?

A: With a cell phone

Ok, that was bad anyway onto the item that will make me happiest. Technically, it's a tie but I will list them both since one is more pricey than the other:

  1. Miracleberry Fruit Tablets - cheaper item, I have seen tons of videos of people reacting to eating acidic foods after taking a tablet and I really want to experience that myself

  2. Faber-Castel Watercolor Pencils - slightly more pricey, I love using watercolors and have always wanted to try using these pencils because of how beautiful they look when used for illustrations

Hope this isn't against the rules!
u/greysplash · 14 pointsr/videos

As others have posted, tablet forms of these are available on Amazon

I've actually thrown "Miracle Berry" parties several times and it's a lot of fun! Just walk around a grocery store and try to think of everything that tastes sour and buy it! Some tips from my experiences... Each tablet will last you about 15-60 minutes (generally about 30 before effects diminish), not ALL the sourness goes away (lemons do not taste like pure sugar), thoroughly dissolve the tablet in your mouth (3-5 minutes) and then wait a couple more for the full effect, and lastly, bitterness is NOT the same as sourness. Eating the lemon peel will still be incredibly bitter.

Lemons/limes: Taste like the best lemonade/limeade ever

Pineapple: Incredibly delicious, but almost TOO sweet for some people

Oranges/orange juice: Really depends on the kind, but can substantially change the flavor

Hot Sauce: Vinegar almost tastes sugary, so it is both sweet and spicy

Pickled items: Again, vinegar becomes rather sweet

Cheese: Some cheeses taste like "dessert" cheese, especially sharp cheeses, cream cheese, cottage cheese, and goat cheese. Some people don't seem to be as effected by the cheeses as other though.

Beer/Wine: Not as profound as citrus, but definitely changes the flavor profile

Random note of caution: You'll end up wanting to eat a TON of citrus foods. This will give you an upset stomach if you don't moderate.

u/Acid_Affairs · 2 pointsr/Supplements

From what I can tell the supplements don't seem that bad. However, at least for the animal m-stack and gnc beyond raw re-forge they contain a lot of ingredients which can mess up with calculated desired results when taken together.

Are you taking a high-quality multivitamin? The only supplement your taking that is providing any essential nutritional value is that gnc beyond raw re-forge. From these supplements alone you are still lacking essential minerals like calcium. And even if you do take a good multivitamin you will still lack the recommended dietary allowance of calcium, magnesium, or even iron if you are not eating enough meat. It depends on your diet and what kinds of food you eat. If you want to supplement I'd suggest Calcium Citrate/Malatate, and Magnesium Glycinate. If you want these nutrients from food instead I'd suggest Greek Yogurt.

I would add some more supplements to complete the stacks:

Early morning and/or late afternoon stack:

the animal-mstack: one pak every day for 21 consecutive days and 7 day rest. So, three weeks on, one week off.

+
usplabs compound 20: 2 capsules with breakfast and 2 capsules 6-8 hours later with meal or snack. For best results, take one of the doses 30-60 minutes prior to workout.

+
gnc multivitamin sport or source naturals life force multiple

When building muscle it is very important for your body to rest so that muscle tissue and other parts can repair and build upon itself. The most rest you get the whole day is when you sleep. The more high-quality sleep you get the more effectively your body can repair itself and grow (e.g. growth hormone secretion).

Before bed time stack:

gnc beyond raw re-forge: one pack prior to bedtime

+
source natural theanine serene with relora

+
source natural calcium citrate/malatate

I know your kid is fine and I obviously don't want them to be harmed in any way. My daughter hit me with a toy hammer yesterday and I reprimanded her with instructions not to hit people (except your kids... jk).

My original response was going to be "if I weren't so lazy, I'd research which of the old gods were real and sacrifice a goat to them so your kid gets cancer. But that's hard af." So I actually toned it down a bit.

I was just overreacting for the sake of humor and hyperbole and you seemed to be taking the bait rather hard (though you could just be counter-trolling me, which is also amusing).

Which supplement are you using for B12? I take these sublingual methylcobalamin. And I give my daughter these because she likes em (I couldn't find good research on methylcobalamin vs cyanocobalamin in children, but with the eggs and milk in her diet I wasn't as concerned with B12 absorption from the supplements, and it isn't one of those 13,333% type deals).

I still think it's unreasonable to expect everyone to be able to raise vegan kids and I don't recommend it for most humans. Americans don't have any real excuses if they want to do it, but it's still hard in that it takes research and monitoring and full support from both parents. Most people can barely raise their kids not to be assholes, so expecting them to have the patience, knowledge, and persistence to properly feed their kids is 'hard'. Mine really just boils down to being in a mixed-diet house and a little over-cautiousness. And for others, I don't recommend it because it's more difficult than the typical lazy parenting we see in America. If someone's been vegan for 5+ years and hasn't had any issues with health and has a good support structure and has both parents/families on board and has done their research and can afford it (both financially and emotionally), then I say go for it. Those things aren't exactly "easy af".

Anyway, sorry if you were really upset, I thought it was pretty clear I was messing with you. Have a great weekend and I hope everyone you love gets anti-rickets.

I've done natural T boosters and can share some thoughts. I don't feel that they raised my T, but I didn't get labs to compare. However, I do think they gave me energy when taken before training. I've tried Test Booster 1.0 and Nugenix. The Test Booster was the more affordable and has 1,500 mg per serving and the premium priced Nugenix has 3,000 mg per serving. Both kind of felt the same in the end: more energy throughout the day.

Eventually I made vitamins and minerals my main concern and I feel I've been having ore success with that. Now, I take 1x DHEA on an empty stomach before breakfast. Eat, then take 2x D3 (https://www.amazon.com/Life-Extension-Vitamin-5000-Softgels/dp/B000GTFOBA/) and 1x Trace Minerals (https://www.amazon.com/Life-Extension-Minerals-vegetarian-capsules/dp/B005MJTUEG/). The Trace Minerals has boron, zinc, magnesium, chromium, etc. All things associated with T. With lunch I take 2 Life Force Multiple (https://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Multiple-Activator-Capsules/dp/B000GFPD0G/). Then 2 more with dinner. That's been my natural T boosting regimen as of late. Hope that isn't too tangential.

They change how things taste to your taste buds temporarily! I've had multiple friends try them and say they're definitely worth the few bucks for them. They're on my list as well, mwahaha.

I think you'd like these Miracle Berries! Perfect for taste tripping parties (get a party together with your new co workers!), these berries turn sour foods to sweet, and sweet foods become even sweeter. I can't wait to try them myself while sampling different foods!

u/KleinKonijn · 5 pointsr/proED

Just looked up Centrum Adults! It actually looks decent! The main issue with those gummy multivitamins is how they're not comprehensive enough for people like us with messed up diets, like how they often lack adequate vitamin A, panthothenic acid, and other more obscure nutrients. Typically, those candylike vitamins are heavy on vitamin C and the vitamin B family, which are definitely not enough. If I were you, I'd keep on taking the Centrum if you want! I researched multivitamins here on Labdoor and I personally take these. Also, friendly advice that horse pills are way, way easier to swallow if you swallow them with food! I hate swallowing pills with just liquid. I gag. But if I eat food like I chew it up, still have it in my mouth, and pop the pill in the there, I can swallow it easily as long as I move the pill towards the back of my throat ideally nestled in the food I'm going to swallow. It might sound gross, but it makes life so much easier. My personal favorite way to take vitamins is with yoghurt like that. I often don't even feel the horse pills I swallow down. Take care! :D

u/AgentArcher · 1 pointr/AskReddit

they work I used this product though. I had to use two to really get the effect. Basically you let it dissolve on your tongue. I moved it with finger to didn't spots to get better coverage. Sweet doesn't change much, sour and bitter take super sweet.

  • TLDR: Yes, work. Guinness is best choc milkshake, Orange Great, Apple nothing, Strawberry no change, Lime and Lemons confuses the mind.
u/thisrockismyboone · 948 pointsr/AskReddit

I've flavor tripped several times. Vinegar tastes like apple juice. Salt tastes like sugar. Beer tastes like grape soda. lemons tastes the best, basically like "yellow sugar" same goes for grapefruit, limes, and oranges.

Edit: Since you people think I'm the coolest person on the face of the earth, here is a link to buy http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002INDU22 and you can pay me in blow jobs.

Also buffalo chicken dip is the greatest thing with this, would recommend. Olives are good too.

u/fastestpooper · 10 pointsr/beer

I did a beer education just the other day - so a little different than your regular beer dinner - and did something new with it I called "Sniff School 101" that would be interesting to integrate into a dinner. We were tasting 3 beers: a lager, IPA and a wheat - before we drank the beers I wanted to give everyone a baseline of the flavors I was going to be talking about. So I had set up a cups filled with ingredients in the beers: lemon zest, grapefruit zest, malt extract, hops, clove, etc with cotton balls on top so they had to rely on their nose only. Then they all smelled then blind to 'calibrate' their palates to the flavors I was about to talk about. It was a great value add depending on the baseline craft knowledge of the people you are doing it with. Could also use jelly beans.

Regarding your beer dinner - at the end, pair a tart dessert with an IPA and a dose of Miracle Berry - that will blow their minds: http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Berry-Fruit-Tablets-Miraculin/dp/B002INDU22

I always feel once you get past $75 bucks you should have some phenomenal beers. Its more about quality over quantity and I would cap it at 6 courses. Also saw a beer dinner that ended with a Utopias Cigar after dessert, which was cool. Good luck.

Id say cinnamon is worth a shot. I don't think it did much for my sweating, but you can buy it at any pharmacy, Target, or Walmart and it's not expensive.
I'd recommend a good multivitamin. I take source naturals life force (iron free.)
I also take zinc picolinate (Thorne), vitamin d (nature made) and magnesium glycinate (Doctor's best).
I searched online to find these brands I take, they have good reviews/rankings on the 'labdoor' site. I feel better in general taking these supplements. It's basically stuff that's supposed to help testosterone and stuff alot of people are deficient in.

I think I have a love/hate relationship with August. August is splendid because all of the fruits and vegetables in my garden are ripe and ready to be picked. Grocery store veggies can't even compare to amazing taste of fresh veggies...especially cucumbers and tomatoes.

Another reason that I love August is because it's when we start getting ready for Autumn. Apple cider, hot apple cider, honeycrisp apples, apple cake, pumpkin cake, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin everything...

The main reason I love August is because my husband and I were married last August. The 18th marked our one year wedding anniversary. It has not rained on that date in 12 years, and it's just always beautiful. This summer was crisp and cooler.

The only reason I actually dislike August is because my husband is a teacher. By the end/middle of August he's usually stressing that he didn't get enough done over the summer, stressing about the common core, stressing about pretty much everything. He shouldn't stress, because he's an incredible teacher, but he always doubts himself. It's stressful for everyone involved.

31 days for Augustus

Thank you for the contest!

I would love these prenatal vitamins as my husband and I are trying to get pregnant and it is suggested to start them before conceiving.

Thanks again!

Seems like there are a lot of good protein suggestions already. Have you heard of Miracle Fruit? It's a berry that has a compound that temporarily (2 hours or so) turns sour things very sweet, meaning almost all fruits will taste 200% sweeter (lemons taste like candy).

I've read accounts of people undergoing chemo having good results gaining back some flavor, and it comes in pill form. I bought a pack for the hell of it and it's fairly nifty.

i take a multi - before i started even losing any weight my doc recommended i try to find one with vitamin D and iron. i've taken the rainbow one women's multi for a couple years now - it doesn't upset my stomach and i have no complaints. no idea if it's effective or not but i continue.

i supplement my fiber - i've tried a half dozen different varieties and settled on this powder. it doesn't taste great but it works and it's easier for me to down a little glass than pop 6 capsules, etc.

i also take biotin - i have always had fine hair but around 70lbs down, found it was thinning significantly. my protein and fat macros were still looking good, and my multi is almost equivalent to a lot of prenatals, but i added in this biotin. i've been taking it for about 6 months and have noticed a definite uptick in new hair growth; although i have also been maintaining for about the last 6 months so i can't say for sure it's the biotin.

i eat protein bars quite a bit as well, although i typically have them as lunch instead of in a supplement role. i've tried most flavors from b-up, one, muscle pharm, quest and more, and my favorites are quest's apple pie flavor and muscle pharm's cinnamon combat crunch bar.

OMG you want 'miracle' berries!!! They temporarily mess with your sense of taste so that sour and bitter things taste completely different--sweetish!

Put a few on a tray with grapefruit, lemons, limes, and maybe a few cheeses and vegetables. Light (heh, just don't overdo the cheeses), finger friendly, clean, and super fun to do in groups. Perfect for a night focused on sensual experiences!

Very cheap forms of vitamins that are very poorly absorbed by the body. Don't feel to bad though, Optimen was my first multi and I took it for a year when I was younger without realizing it was shit. It's on par with the shit multis they sell at walmart basically. Fear not for I know of very good multis for basically the same price. But depending on your activity life.

For an overall very good (one of the best you can get actually) multi, that's very balanced with superior forms of each vitamin, source naturals life force is the best bang for you buck, basically the same price as Optimen. https://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-Multiple-Activator-Capsules/dp/B000GFPD0G/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1497074875&sr=8-1&keywords=source+naturals+life+force

If you're a hardcore lifter, and/or you experience discomforts in joints or recovery, controlled labs Orange Triad is the best in this aspect because it also has very good forms of vitamins, BUT, it includes a joint/flex complex in it that would cost 45$ alone by itself at a CVS. And you get a 45 day supply for 28$, basically like a few dollars more then optimen or source naturals. I'm taking it right now and have for the past 3-4 years. I haven't experienced any joint pain during this time, amazing multi I would say. https://www.amazon.com/Controlled-Labs-Orange-Triad-Multivitamin/dp/B00104I5TS/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1497086164&sr=1-1&keywords=orange%2Btriad&th=1

Now Foods Adam Multi is also pretty damn good for the price if you want something cheaper then all of those. https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Adam-Superior-Multi-Softgels/dp/B003ENHSI2/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1497075275&sr=8-5&keywords=anavite&th=1

Check out the following:

r/babybumps - a subreddit created and maintained by some of the most level-headed, hormonal pregnant ladies on the internet

r/ttc - a private subreddit dedicated to those "trying to conceive"

In terms of what I did pre-pregnancy:

  1. Found a General Practicioner I genuinely liked, got a physical, got tested for everything I thought I was allergic to (just because I was curious), made sure I was up-to-date on all my vaccinations and took the Flu shot for the first time in my life.
  2. Tried to quit smoking. Failed. Cut back considerably.
  3. Tried to lose weight. Failed. Ate more vegetables, practically negated all caffeine and took pre-natal vitamins (these).
  4. Cut back my alcohol intake.
  5. Found a reputable OB/GYN through a good friend and told him of my plans during my check up. He gave me some pointers. (Full disclosure: I left his practice for a midwifery practice for a multitude of reasons and was very happy with my decision.)

*If I hadn't gotten pregnant as soon as I had, I would have purchased and used an ovulation meter since I've heard many good things from friends who have used them.

FWIW, prior to having a baby (who is currently just shy of 1 month old), I - like you - had very little experience with babies. Unlike a job, you don't really need experience. You need common sense, help from close family/friends and, if it suits you, motivation to learn more. You have no idea how far ahead of the game you already are since you're asking these questions. I only realized it when I attended childbirth classes and couldn't believe some of the questions being asked - not to toot my own horn or anything but I think being a redditor often means that you're likely a bit more self-sufficient than the average DINKS (double income, no kids).

Parenting is a long ways off for you right now. Stay focused on one goal at a time and try to not get ahead of yourself. This process can be
    very* overwhelming.

    Good luck with everything!

you are like me and they are just paper thin just because. I started taking a daily women's vitamin (with biotin that's important) and my nails are STRONG and long and healthy. These are the exact ones I buy, just cheap from Walmart. I take two a day and I have seen a noticeable difference in my nails. Even my boyfriend has noticed.

u/kayleepop · 2 pointsr/TransDIY

I take this everyday with food

I also take a Vitamin D/Calcium supplement for hip growth and a B complex 2x a day to counteract the B12 deficiency caused by cyproterone acetate.

IMO it's better to be safe than sorry, because the body is much better at dealing with too much of something than not enough. (but pay attention to the maximum recommended daily allowances)

Make sure you take them with food though, because that usually increases bio-availability.

u/Modafinabler · 3 pointsr/running

If you do go the low carb route I'd highly recommend KetoCaNa for long runs. I've done 18 hour fasts and done 90 minute hard interval sessions before using this.

Also UCAN can be really useful for races/long runs too. I would definitely test this out though because it can cause GI distress if you overdo it/aren't used to it.

I would say that for most of your easy runs, you could be Keto and do well. I personally prefer a more cyclic ketogenic approach where I do carb re-feeds post workout.

When you increase volume, frequency, and especially intensity most people are going to perform better on a higher CHO intake. If you're never running more than once a day though, and most of your runs are easy you might be able to do keto all the time.

If you read the ingredients you'll see that two gummies have 100% Biotin, and there's vitamins A, C, E, to improve absorption. I took these Biotin gummies by Nature's Bounty beforehand http://www.drugstore.com/natures-bounty-hair-skin-and-nails-gummies-with-biotin/qxp506347 - and they worked very well for hair & nails, but I'm trying a multivitamin approach so that I don't have to take Vitamin D and B12 separately.

The only thing the VitaFusion is missing in my case is Iron, which I supplement separately.

I recognize that you were asking about collagen - not biotin - but taking the biotin supplements along with regular other vitamins has made a difference for me, so I've just shared what I knew.

They do work. Let them dissolve on your tongue for a minute or two and try stuff. Generally sour foods will give you the most effect turning them somewhat sweet. A cup of white vinegar tastes like Apple juice. Straight lemons taste like lemonade. Though there is a distinct "artificial" sweetener taste.

Note that you probably will get sick the first time - not from the tablet, but from the ridiculous stuff you will eat and think tastes good. And be careful with alcohol. Tequila tastes good, but it doesn't mean you should drink it like juice.

Source Naturals and Life Extension both have more comprehensive formulas, though I'd cut the dosage by half for both, makes it more cost effective and for a lot of the vitamins you really don't need that much and Multi's are really more of a safety net anyways.

Meal frequency does not matter. If he wants to eat one or two meals a day, that is okay. What matters is that he is getting enough nutrients(vitamins, minerals, protein, calories) When the body does not get enough food, it slows down the metabolism. Go to the doctor ask for blood work for testosterone/thyroid/Vitamin D. At his age, either could be suboptimal for his health. Getting a sluggish thyroid optimized will make a huge difference in energy levels, same as testosterone. Optimally, you would want his testosterone over 700 ng/dl and his TSH(thyroid stimulating hormone) under <3. If you get his blood work and let me see it, i will tell you what i think. He needs to incorporate more animal protein into his diet. Amino acids found in food are essential for every single process in your body. Neurotransimitters like dopamine and serotonin(happy hormones) need amino acids to function properly. People underestimate the importance of dietary protein.

These are the two multivitamins i recommend because they contain the best, most bioavailable forms of vitamins and minerals. They are not expensive and are of really good quality. It is possible that your husband's multivitamin switched it's formulation to an inferior product. You can try these, but get that blood work done. It is very important, low testosterone and hypothyroidism will deteriorate his health as he ages. :

Man I wish I knew all this before I bought the men's one a day! I get paid today so I'll definately buy something better. But for the Legion Triumph vitamin [http://www.amazon.com/LEGION-Triumph-Multivitamin-All-One/dp/B00L87YFL4] 8 capsules is one serving?? Seems like it's overkill or something no? I'm willing to spend however much I need to as I believe quality makes price worth it, so you would honestly recommend these to someone? I see the only bad reviews are stating the bad taste which is no big deal.

I have no idea if it actually works to improve Ketosis but I can certainly tell you it gives me energy. I don't drink caffeine (heart skips beats on occasion) so I am sensitive to anything that "gives me energy" - This stuff does and doesn't make me feel weird.

Try taking a Miracle Berry tablet before eating strawberries. It makes every strawberry taste sweet.

Heck, they make lemon juice taste like sweet lemonade. And you don't need a whole tablet, you can split one in half and share.

u/micahhaley · 2 pointsr/ketogains

I normally only use them to smooth out the "keto flu" feelings when I'm entering ketosis. They do a great job of smoothing that out.

A biochemist friend recommended KetoCaNa. You can buy them on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/KetoSports-KetoCaNa-Supplement-Physical-Performance/dp/B00U7R7194/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1536162577&sr=8-3&keywords=ketocana

Do you take any multivitamins?

I started taking a multivitamin around the same time I started keto and I would get the weirdest dreams every single night. This from someone who has had maybe 1 or 2 dreams a year. I stopped taking them after 3pm because it was apparently keeping my brain more active. (I take Opti-Men but I knew going in that other people had reported dream side effects as well. Just CTRL+F 'Dream' on that Amazon page and you will find someone else saying the same.)

My son was very picky when starting solids and especially didn't like things with iron, so I found some iron drops he actually tolerates most of the time: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S7K1432/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

He has spat them out a couple of times when he's in a bad mood but mostly he swallows it happily. When I tried it out it tasted not that bad at all, although clearly you do taste the iron.

My pediatrician only tested our son's iron at 12 months and I didn't want to find out there was a problem then which was why I started him at around 7 months on the iron drops, when it was clear he wasn't into baby oatmeal, chicken, egg yolks, beans, etc...

be CAREFUL about taking any magnesium oxide, its the cheapest form of magnesium and the least absorbable - meaning it's basically a laxative and will give you liquid diarrhea REALLY easy

you really want the stuff that ends with -ATE , doesnt have the side effects

as far as multivitamin, you may want to switch to something with join suporrt like this stuff which is praised highly in the body building community. I take half the daily dose since i'm not an athlete.

on the same note i've heard nothing but good things about Cissus for join pain.

The best hangover cure is hangover prevention. So if being hungover tempts you to smoke do everything you can to avoid hangovers. I myself get terrible terrible hangovers. Before bed i usually throw up all the alcohol in my system(on purpose, i want that toxic poison out of my body). I Take an optimen multivitamin or 2 before bed and drink at least 2 water bottles. I chug it like its beer. Hangovers are cause from dehydration, and you have to prevent that before the problem occurs.

Some people swear by Pedialyte. They say its like gatorade on steroids. Its starting to get around colleges now as "the" hangover cure. I have not tried it yet so I can't knock it but have friends that use it.

Just a couple of quick tips to prevent hangovers so you don't get the urge to smoke. :)

You could give Theanine Serene a shot, it has some herbs and crap that promote serenity and might help control your physical feelings of anxiety. I find after taking them it relaxes me noticeably, though I haven't had a panic attack in some years now so can't say whether it's effective in actually curbing them. Also you might check with your doctor about getting a prescription for some as-needed Valium (Diazepam), having some handy to take just as you feel a panic attack coming on can derail it fairly quickly. Good luck!

u/wellwasherelf · 17 pointsr/funny

What toothpaste do you use, specifically? Toothpaste with SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) is what causes the reaction. SLS is used as a foaming agent in a bunch of stuff (toothpaste, shampoo, etc.) and it suppresses your sweet taste buds. Kind of like those "miracle fruit tablets" which basically have the opposite effect.

VegLife makes children's chewable multivitamins. These contain both B12 and iodine, along with many other vitamins and minerals. It has Vitamin D2, rather than the usually non-vegan D3. There is some controversy over D2 vs. D3. If your child doesn't get out in the sun a lot, you might consider adding a vegan D3 a few times a week. Eating mushrooms is also a good source of vitamin D, and mushrooms can make many forms of D including D2 and D3.

  • Almonds/pistachio/macadamia/brazil nuts + hemp seed

  • Canned Tuna/Chicken and Dried Beef/Bison/Lamb/Camel/Salmon and Sausage/genoa/prosciotto

  • Broccoli lasts forever, cauliflower, carrots, hummus, beans, avocado

  • Jams/Preserves/Chutney/Conserve/Fruit Butter/Marmalade and Dried Fruit

  • Peanut Butter/Almond Butter/Nutella

  • Oats

  • Olive Oil

Many of these are all things which should last in warm weather. I added olive oil, because if you are able to drink it, 4oz has 1000 calories. You could replace fresh fruit with my Preserves/Marmalade category, or the dried variety. Instead of bread, coat the Peanutbutter/nutella onto granola bars.

You can make home-made granola and granola bars with TONS of great stuff, then everything is mixed into one bar/bag. Get creative:

  • maple syrup, honey, agave, rice sugar, brown sugar, wheat germ, wheat bran, oat bran, flax meal, whole and powdered nuts (walnut, cashew, pecan, pine, almonds, pistachio, macadamia, brazil), seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, sesame, flax), dried fruit (pineapple, papaya, apricot, mango, apple, kiwi, guava, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, boysenberry, cranberry, blueberry infused cranberry, raisin, golden raisin, figs, cherries), cereal (rice crispies, crushed mini wheats), coconut, chocolate, cinnamon, ancho chili pepper, salt, vanilla, butter, peanut butter, nutella, coconut butter, milk, water.

I would take one of these (bone+multivitamin) morning and night (daily "dose" is four pills, so you would still only be taking half what they want you to) if you are worried about getting vitamins and minerals.

The vast majority of research on Omega 3 cites 720mg of EPA and 480mg of DHA, and most Omega 3 supplements do not have enough of either. I suggest Trader Joe's Brand. The price isn't bad, and two of these a day will ensure you get enough.

Check out this podcast - skip to 49:18 - it's a VERY long podcast.

How to accelerate the induction of ketone projection through use of exogenous ketones[49:18]

One exogenous ketone product he uses is this.

Taking sodium/drinking broth is also highly recommended. Drink a lot of water.

tl;d listen: when you (water) fast, you switch over from a glucose metabolism to a ketogenic (fat-burning) metabolism. Your brain starts to 'starve' as you run out of glucose (sugar) to burn and switch over to ketones (fat). If you take an exogenous ketone supplement, you can bridge that gap - your brain just fuels off the ketones as the rest of your body ramps up the ketone production. This will make the entry into the fast much easier, as your brain will never go into the 'starvation' state.

Other than that, fasting for 10 days is safe, if a bit uncomfortable.

Legion triumph,

1 serving is 8 capsules. They dose everything according to the latest research on the subject.

tl;dr is they make things taste different. One of the biggest changes is sour stuff tastes sweet (citrus, vinegar, etc.)

Wiki, you can get them on Amazon

My friend's therapist recommended these for him instead of prescription meds. I started taking them as well, it has helped quite a bit.

Your risk increase from a multi containing near the RDA of A and E will be essentially zero. Naturelo comes to mind as it has only 1mg carotene and 22 mg E. The studies showing increased risk from carotene supplements were using 20-30 mg while the vitamin E research indicates potential benefits at 50 mg/day and risks at >215 mg/day. If you take your multi with food (i.e. simulating ingestion of the nutrients in a food matrix as you would find in nature) then I don't see any cause for concern.

u/Vir2k · 1 pointr/vegan

cool. that's what i was thinking about... :).

you really are vegan for 20+ years ?

LE: this is the product you are talking about ? http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00146BLM0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_img?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2L143VNUP804J&coliid=I2QE9CDCDTD9GL&psc=1

All he had to do to make this significantly less challenging is eat Miracle Berry tablets. It turns sour things into sweet things. I'm not convinced he didn't do that.

u/MEatRHIT · 1 pointr/Fitness

This is generally the recommended brand of multi, you should only take 1 or 2 a day rather than the 4 it recommends.

u/mattressgiant · 1 pointr/keto

Depends on the multi. I also have this Doctors Best Mag supp but I rarely have to take it due to meeting my needs through diet + multi.

u/mamb0number5 · 1 pointr/Showerthoughts

Isn't there like a magic bean thing that does this?

Edit: found the clever girl. https://www.amazon.com/mberry-Miracle-Fruit-Tablets-10-Count/dp/B001LXYA5Q

What about these vitamins Source Naturals, check the back label picture.

Why only vitamin d3 in liquid form?

I take these. Not sure if it's the best one, but I think it's getting the job done.

Opti-men/vit sucks to be honest. Horrible vitamin and mineral sources. Costy too for what they provide.

Better sourcing for the ingredients. Has joint complex. You can take 3 a day as the doses are quite large instead of 6. It would then last three months $9.50 per month.

u/PJLFit · 2 pointsr/Fitness

I got these and never looked back. 5 month supply, $24.50. #4 on labdoor. Only need to take 1 per day as well.

Oj!

u/Cato_Keto_Cigars · 1 pointr/keto

Are you hitting all your micros/macros? Anything missing there?

How much water are you drinking.

I was hungry a lot for the first week or so; I upped the water consumption, took supplements to ensure i was hitting everything [1], [2], [3] (#3, only because vegans have a hard time getting Omega-3 without meat) and it went away.

u/BulkingKitchen · 2 pointsr/gainit

From a pill supplement form, there are really only a few "vitamins" that I would suggest. This is a quick list:

  • Men's Multi Vitamin ( Rainbow Light) - Basic maintenance
  • ZMA (Optimum Nutrition) - Taken before bed on empty stomach for sleep and recovery
  • Fish / Krill Oil (Viva Fish Oil)

If you eat plenty of macro-nutrient dense whole foods, you should not have to take any more pills than this.

Not that you need 8kg for this, but as long as you are looking for uses, invite some people over and try some with miracle fruit.

u/ilikeacids · 1 pointr/bodybuilding

Make sure to keep cortisol levels down since it is a cause for stretch marks to appear. You can use phosphatidylserine, magnesium, GABA, or l-theanine to reduce cortisol spikes during/after working out, and upon waking early in the morning. Make sure to get enough sleep, and try to reduce stress throughout the day.

u/hypnotiq · 3 pointsr/Fitness
  • Multi: Natural Force recommended by Herman_gill(sp?), I take one a day
  • Fish oil: I take NOW ultra which as 500 EPA / 250 DHA. It's more expensive than other brands, but has more EPA/DHA than any other brand I've seen. I get it from bodybuilding.com
u/redsox15 · 1 pointr/keto

Rainbow one a day. It's available on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000EEBWIG. There's also a men's version.

u/partyonmybloc · 18 pointsr/funny

That's the way I was about the flavor-changing berries on Amazon that someone linked once. I still consider it every now and then though.

Edit: Here's a link.
