You might get a little relief by getting your feet wet. If your feet get cold from cool water you'll feel a little cooler for a bit.

I could cool down enough to sleep if I dumped water on me and climbed into bed naked and wet (bed directly under fan.)

Get some electrolyte packets from the chemist and mix with cold water. It's good for health generally when sweating a lot but I'm tempted to think that improving the electrolyte balance might help promote better sweating.

I find refrigerating aloe vera gel and then drinking helps make your insides feeling cooler. You can even apply that to the skin instead of the prickly heat powder.

Keeping the neck cool is important (like the feet, the head/neck temp plays a role in determining how your body feels.) I see abroad they even have speciality neck coolers. (Here's one on Amazon.in) Reviews are mixed, but the point is...figure out some way to keep the neck cool.

I've also had a little bit of luck fooling myself with a good quality app that plays sound of rain or a thunderstorm. Like Rainy Mood or Thunderspace and headphones. Try to get lost in the sound of the rain.

Also don't forget your fan capacitor. Your fan might not be working at full speed. I used to be in an apartment with a fan whose capacitor would go bad every year. My electrician would put a new one in for like 300-400rs. Made a huge difference.

Hospital Bag:

Shower flip flops! Preferably in a larger size because if you end up with an epidural/spinal swelling can be major. No one told me that

Slippers for walking around the hospital - I like the moccassin kind that have bottoms are are almost shoes but not quite.

I liked having a silk robe for after labor and sitting around. It could cover me while nursing a bit. That robe became like my thing after wearing it in the hospital and my kids blankie/comfort object now.

I didn't bring any underwear or pads to the hospital - I knew they provided mesh ones for when I was there and plenty of pads. I took a ton home with me too.

An extension cord!! So my labor/delivery suite was a corner room usually not used at the time - it's better for tours and my shower light was broken. And it was a large room - and the plugs were like NOWHERE near the bed I was in. Thankfully my husband travels with extension cords (at the time he traveled a lot for his job and just grabbed that backpack) and we had some.

Snacks for after - I brought from Nature's Valley granola, crackers, etc

Long bendy straws - helpful while nursing (you need the extra length). Both in and out of the hospital.

Bobby pins and hairties!

Something relatively cute to leave the hospital in. I have a ton of photos from leaving, and I'm glad I had this purple dress on that I loved. It was just a jersey dress, but it looks nicer than sweats and those photos are my favorite.

Try and nab from the hospital:

-Mesh underwear

-Pads

-Sitz bath

-Newborn diapers, as many as you can

-Baby brush

-Baby sucky bulb thingy (I mean they scare me, but they let me have the one they gave me...soooo I took it!)

-Dermoplast

-Witch hazel pads

-Any ice packs - my hospital stopped giving them at 48 hours and I agree, it stops being really effective and the witch hazel was fine after that for me, but some people swear by getting more ice packs

-Footprints, discharge book, etc on memorabilia

Once you're home:

I'm an advocate for disposable underwear - I didn't wanna spend money on actual underwear or risk ruining my underwear - plus disposable was easy. My 'diapers' just went in the diaper pail with the babies.

Earth Mama Perineal Spray: I liked this so much better than dermoplast which just started to be too harsh. https://www.amazon.com/Earth-Mama-Perineal-Pregnancy-Postpartum/dp/B0065ZTKWS/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_121_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MAN9247RNVFT9QETD3X6

An extra thing of Tuck's witch hazel pads - I went through what the hospital gave me quickly.

Oatmeal cookies - they help with milk production and are easy to eat while nursing a baby. Hot oatmeal is NOT easy to eat while having a baby attached lol

Yes! This is exactly how my eczema started as a red patch on one of my eyelids and I had it for like 9 months I literally tried everything and even went to dermatologist as well as ophthalmologists! But because it was localized at first they thought it was contact dermatitis but then I noticed more sensitive/rough red patches on my cheeks that would flare up now and then but not as persistent as the one by my eyelid. Then about two weeks ago I decided to go to a dermatologist that has specialized in eczema and other stuff and he confirmed my suspicion I do have eczema.

To the OP: if those spots tend to burn and the skin thickens at its healing it's most likely eczema.

I've found a few products that have done wonders for my skin, I'll list them below:

-Cerave Eczema Soothing Body Wash: I use this to wash my face and it has been the most effective product in helping me retain my moisture barrier. And the dermatologist said its perfectly fine to use on your face!

Moisturizer : I use about a pea sized amount of both together 2x day

  • Puriya Cream

-Curel Wet Skin Moisturizer ( you put it on when your face is damp)

I also mix in this with my moisturizer
-Klaris Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum

That combination has made all the difference for my eczema and my face even started to clear up and my hyperpigmentation started to go away as well.

    Good luck!

Okay. I'm here for this.

I've tried everything for this because I always suffer from motion sickness but I enjoy doing things involving motion-- planes, boats, cars, etc.

Ginger can work, so try drinking some ginger ale and, if you're a fan of ginger, carry some ginger candy with you on the plane. Dramamine often works for me and that's an easy go-to, just make sure you take it 30 minutes before the plane takes off and prepare to get sleepy. Some people swear by the pressure wristbands but they never worked for me. I even tried an electronic relief band that's supposed to interrupt the signal your stomach sends to your brain telling you to feel sick, but it's uncomfortable, made my hand spasm, and ultimately gave me blisters. The most effective treatment for me BY FAR has been the transdermal scopolamine patch. It's a time-release patch you wear on your neck behind your ear and it's good for three days. It's AMAZING-- it's all I use now. Almost no side effects-- no drowsiness at all-- but make sure you wash your hands after applying it because if you get the medication from the patch in your eye it'll temporarily dilate your pupil. It's a prescription, too, so you'd need to get your GP to prescribe it, but it's definitely worth the hassle. I recently took a cruise from Buenos Aires to Elephant Bay, Antarctica through notoriously bad seas-- not to mention all the flying to get to SA in the first place-- and the patches made the entire experience a DELIGHT.

Best of luck to you!

For really bad flareups, you can try hydrocortisone cream, but DON'T get hooked on it. I've got SD and I used cortisone for years and it actually made it significantly worse. It weakens your immune system and thins your skin. No good.

There's a few things you can do... see if there's a food component that triggers it. I apparently have mild allergies to yeast, bread and the like (which is interesting since it's theorized that an overzealous skin-yeast might be one cause of SD) and it helps everything stay calm if I avoid at least super-refined breads and stick to whole-grain. Better if I avoid them completely. A food diary could help you with this.

However, for treatment, I highly, HIGHLY recommend DermaZinc Cream. It's a freaking godsend. I'd run the gamut of products (and pretty much decided I was forever going to have cracking, peeling, sore red flaky patches all over my face) when I came across this stuff on Amazon with glowing reviews and figured I'd try one last thing... and it cleared up my SD 90% after a week. Seriously. And i've got it around my nose, ears, chin, upper lip, eyebrows, hairline... Just gone. I'm going to try their shampoo eventually too. This is it: http://www.amazon.com/DermaZinc-Cream-4-oz/dp/B0000ZHOH2/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371109846&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=sebborheic+dermatitis+zinc

It's not the cheapest thing, but I bought my container 4 months ago and even with all my problem areas a little goes a LONG way. I'm nowhere near even a quarter through the container.

And yes, I'd used lots of zinc products prior to this but for some reason DermaZinc just kicked its butt for me. :) If you pick it up, try slathering it on at least 3 times a day when you first start out (on clean skin) to really give a knock-out punch to the SD- once it starts receding you can switch to just once a day.

I hope this helps! SD drove me crazy for years, both for how it looked and how much it can hurt. Good luck!

u/pipnwig · 1 pointr/AskDocs

Not a doctor but I have this issue too. You might find this interesting. You get itchy only at night because of how your hormones change as you're getting ready for bed.

The ONLY thing that helps me is this shit. My dad's a doctor and he's never even heard of Pramoxine Hydrochloride but I like CeraVe so I gave it a shot and my God I love it.

Sometimes an antihistamine like Claritin or Allegra (or Benadryl if you wanna knock your ass out) help as well.

Good luck. Hope we figure this out one day! It's absolutely miserable and "itchiness" is like, the least useful symptom for doctors.

I got a Snuggle Safe microwaveable heating pad and I use it every day when it’s cold Pet Heating Pad by Snuggle Safe,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014LJKUA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. It can hold heat for about 8-10 h. I put it on top of the cage above where they sleep, and I put a piece of cardboard under it so there’s no chance of nibbling, and I put a blanket on top of it to hold the heat. When I put my hand in the cage underneath it, it’s toasty warm but not hot. They can just move away if they get too warm. Another option would be an oil-based space heater. These are pretty safe and can be set to turn off when it gets a certain temperature. Make sure the cord isn’t by the cage and it’s not too close to the cage. Probably a humidifier would be good to add since it can dry out the air (as someone suggested). I only have two boys currently and one has been on antibiotics, so I really want to keep them from getting too cold (gets down to 60 F in their room). Also, fleece cube hides and pocket hammocks are good to have as options. They can really stay warm and you can add extra fleece to keep the heat in.

u/Precisely_this · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I know! I honestly won't re-purchase it. You know what I do love though -- is the body hero oil! I use it in the shower and usually soaps/body oils cause me to get a rash (even dove, ivory, etc) but the body hero stuff is gently moisturizing and leaves my skin feeling soft and a little bit hydrated.

For body lotion, this is my HG for winter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017610BFO?ref=emc_b_5_t&th=1

I use the regular tub of Cerave for spring/winter. Good stuff. :)

Do you have a cat (or dog, but I think cats are better at this)? Because I once read a post about forgetting to take meds, or in this case, T, where every time you take those meds at a certain time or on a certain day, you feed the cat a specific treat. After a while, they come to expect food at that certain time on that certain day and they WILL yell at you and follow you around the house until you do it. I know it's kind of silly, but I've had friends who said it worked for them for taking certain types of medication and things. '

Also, they sell pill bottles with caps that have screens on them that tell you how long ago the bottle was last opened. You could put the vial of T inside the pill bottle? So you know when you last opened it and took it?

My Mom has cancer and is currently undergoing chemo again to try and push it back (she has a brain tumour).

We’ve found that Sea-Bands have helped with the sickness. This could all be psychosomatic but she hasn’t felt sick when wearing them and her appetite (which went terrible) has returned as she feels able to eat.

My Mom’s also found she’s developed a problem with mint when brushing her teeth so I brought her some unflavoured toothpaste from Amazon and she’s been fine with that. She says it’s a little powdery but bearable.

Grease can also be an issue, like the smell of grease in the house can make you heave if you’re already feeling ill. So just be wary if you’re a big fried chip fan.

However, no two people are the same and hopefully you’ll sail through your chemo. Just remember to eat what you want, when you want it. You don’t have to eat big meals if you don’t want them. Take everyday as it comes and remember to smile even when feeling down.

You’ll be amazed at what smiling to yourself in the mirror can do for your mood.

Good luck honey x

Combating simulator sickness by utf8decodeerror

I've posted this in r/oculus already, but I'm copying here to get viver's take on it as well.

***

I'm reaching out here to see what products/solutions other redditors use to combat simulator sickness.

I've had bad motion sickness ever since I was a kid. A twenty minute car ride used to have me in tears, often vomiting as a child. As I got older, my motion sickness has gone away for the most part but I've recently been reexperiencing it when I use my HMD.

To combat motion sickness, I've been using dramamine which has worked perfectly at eliminating motion sickness. However, I don't care for the drowsiness it often brings. I'm also not keen on the idea of taking drugs every time I strap into vr.

Some of my favorite vr games make me the most sick, like To the Top, Onward, Edge of Nowhere, etc. Even if I don't have qualms with self medicating with dramamine and putting up with the side effects, I would like to be able to share these experiences with my friends without having to give them dramamine as well. Most are hesitant to use it to begin with, and if they don't take up my offer on it, their first experience can be entirely ruined by motion sickness.

I recently ran across this product on Amazon which has a lot of very good reviews for combating motion sickness. If it does work, it would also allow me to share vr experiences with friends without feeling guilty about making them take drugs or dealing with being sick. I'll probably pick one up because if it works, it's worth the $100 to me and if it doesn't, I can just return it.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this or a similar product that worked for them or if you have some other technique that has helped you.

I do. This recipe doesn't work on my scalp. I haven't figured that out yet. I'm not sure of the brands but once I get off, I'll look at what I use and update you. I get in the shower, rinse my body, then lather body wash on me. Once i do that, I use 2% zinc oatmeal soap on my face and rinse my body off. After I rinse my body, I immediately rinse my face. Now my pores are cleaned and I keep a little Tupperware with baking soda that I dab my my finger tips in to and pat my face. My hand and face are wet so it sticks with no issue. Little dabs are the trick, don't rub it in because it'll scratch you. Let sit for 2-3 minutes and rinse off. Pat your face with the towel and then dry off. I moisturize once I'm out and a little goes a long way. Also, it's some SD specific moisturizer that I'll update you with when I can. I really don't know the science behind all of it. I'm almost 27 and have had this issue since I was 14. It's really been a trial and error situation. This is the only thing I've done that's worked for more than two weeks. Pardon the grammar, I'm on lunch and just trying to outline my daily routine. I'd like to add that there have been days where I don't do the baking soda, and I don't immediately break out. I try to do it every day but my world doesn't shatter if I miss a step here and there. I hope I am helping and not just rambling.

I'm thinking he thinks it's Rosacea because of the red/ruddy cheeks.

But yes--go to the derm. See what they say. But be prepared, most dermatologists don't seem to see Rosacea (or KP for that matter) as a real "problem." Most just hand you a script for Metrogel (or equivalent) and say, try it, it might help. Everything I've done for my Rosacea I've figured out myself. I mostly try not to get too hot and stay out of the sun. Sunscreen is a huge must for me. I had my first real flair just last week after about 8 very good years. This has made a difference in just 4 days:

Obligatory check in with your doctor if it's a sudden change in bowel habits statement here. If it's IBS I've found that peppermint oil capsules keep the cramping to a minimum. I use IBGuard, but there are plenty of cheaper alternatives out there. Placing a heating pad over your abdomen can really help soothe the cramps too! This is my go-to yoga routine for alleviating cramps as well. Hope all this gets sorted out for ya and you get some relief!

u/damnlooneyhats · 2 pointsr/Psoriasis

I've been stuck in a flare cycle for several years - I cycle up every couple weeks or so the worst part for me is before the drops show up. I'm wracked with intense all over skin inflamation & itching, literally all over, regardless of where the guttate eventually appears and it feels like pin pricks and wiggles all over my body - it drives me batty.

I take an NSAID, like Aleve or Ibuprofen for the inflammation and an anti-histamine like bennedryl (though I prefer a prescribed hydroxyzine, but benedryl is available OTC if you need it now) to help with the itching. I take hot baths with deadsea salts (the heat helps stifle the itch, salts feel good, but don't know if they actually do anything) and then I cover my entire body in Cereva anti-itch cream. This is how I manage.

I'm on Humira which has been miraculous in treating my PsA, but it hasn't had any affect on my Guttate - my rheumetologist is considering adding methotrexate to the mix to see if it will help with the guttate, but waiting for some tests to come back first.

Okay tagging /u/CarlSagans as well so he sees it.

Long story semi-short, Finasteride is the name of a drug. It was originally developed as a drug to help older men with prostate issues, but they found when they were on the drug, their hair was growing back. So the exact same drug was turned the name brand hair-loss drug that you probably have heard of: Propecia. It's the exact same drug as generic Finsateride (Finasteride is to Propecia as Ibuprofen is to Advil, if that make sense), just in a 1MG dose instead of a 5MG dose.

But here's the rub, Propecia costs a lot, I think it's something like $120+ for 30 pills, so that's like $1500 a year. But you can get a prescription for regular 5MG Finsateride. You just need to get a simple pill cutter (I got this $5 on on Amazon) and cut each pill into 1/4ths, and that's a roughly 1MG dose.

In California, with no insurance, this costs $9 for 30 pills, so 120 doses, which is $27 a year. That's roughly a 98% savings.

All you have to do is know to ask your doctor for this prescription for generic 5MG Finasteride. A lot of people have anxiety about this, they think it's like asking to steal or something. It's not. It's incredibly common. My doctor, the first time I ever saw him, instantly knew what I was talking about and wrote me the scrip in 10 seconds. Didn't bat an eye.

Finasteride has been amazing for me, millions of men have taken it and it's totally safe, and I highly recommend getting on it.

These are the best. They keep the dust out but are light. You can get em wet and keep cool when it's hot, they keep you warm when it gets cold, and easy to use when you're drinking a beer. I like that it comes in solid colors but they've got a bunch of patterned ones too.

Get these nasal rinse things if you're extra stuffed up. You can buy them at most pharmacies.

Get those two things and you won't have any problems. Trust me I shattered my nose playing football and I've got a crazy deviated septum (bring on the coke jokes).

I live in Phoenix AZ, so I feel you on the heat rash thing. I get it all the time. I don't know how well it would work in a cloth diaper, but there is a medicated powder that seems to work wonders. If you can pair the powder with naked time it might help clear it up with in a day. (I use it on me at night, most times its healed/ healing the next morning)
Check too with the pharmacist or pedi to make sure its ok for baby butt. =)

You can actually get sickness bracelets which apply pressure to a certain point on your wrist which has helped me before. After I lost the pair I had I began just applying pressure to that point with my other hand, which seemed to continue to help, though did bruise if I wasn't careful.

Beyond that I have always a breathing technique to mitigate this kind of thing. Breathe in through your nose for four seconds (count it out in your head, nice and slowly) and then breathe out slowly and deeply through your mouth. This is a technique that has helped me throughout my life.

Beyond that you can also try eating mints (although be careful). Mint is a muscle relaxant so if your stomach is a little tensed up mint can help you out somewhat, although don't go wild, as it can act as a laxative! All in all though mint has helped me a lot. (I'd avoid sugary mints like Polos or Tic-tTacs as they're less likely to have as much actual mint, and on top of that are just not as good for you)

I hope some of these help you out!

I got my candies from Amazon, but they usually also sell them at babies r us and the like. Preggie pops

Follow YOUR cravings for what sounds good...for some it's acid (vinegar or citrus), for others it's ginger, for others who develop hg, only Meds will help.

It's totally ok right now if your whole diet is bagels and cream cheese for a week. As long as you are taking a quality prenatal, the most important thing is that you don't get dehydrated or too hungry.

Does he have to ride a bike? I know it can be faster than bussing it, but if public transport is an option, then he might consider taking it if the sweat situation is bad enough.

Have him shave is pits and use a good, strong deodorant.

In the morning have him or help him powder his torso with gold bond powder. It's absolutely wonderful for helping with sweat and body odor.

I know it's getting to be colder now, but still have him see about wearing clothes that allow his skin to breath. Wearing clothes that are TOO restrictive will make sweating and smelling worse.

If he's eating smelly stuff in the morning, have him stop and maybe switch him to a protein bar or something, or at least eat less pungent stuff.

Your best bet is to make sure you cook up your shot in a clean/aseptic container/spoon using a sterile solvent--like sterile saline or sterile/distilled water--to minimize the amount of pathogens that are in your syringe, significantly increasing the amount of time your shot will be safe to inject.

If you need sterile saline or water, look for sinus or nose irrigation supplies. Simply Saline will most likely be stocked in your local pharmacy or at this Amazon link. Otherwise, look at the sprays and make sure the bottle says sterile and doesn't contain anything besides saline (or water) and sodium bicarbonate.

u/basisoflove · 1 pointr/vaporents

For herb? Medicine pill key chain bottles. They're at CVS and stuff, also amazon.

For the vapes and stuff?

smallest/cheapest smellproof case (Makes no sense to me that this case costs more than the next one, this one's build quality isn't as high at all.) $25

Slightly larger/nicer smellproff case $20

Large and spacious smellproof case $30
That was technically designed for the Haze but is an excellent case in any regard.

I have 2 skinnies and neither of them got on well with any clothing. Mostly just freaked out and tried to get them off ASAP (rip photo opportunities).

I tend to just leave a couple of fleece blankets in their cage which they burrow into and they seem to be happy enough.

Recently I just bought this which they absolutely love. As soon as I added it to the cage they instantly ran over to it to snuggle. Am considering getting another as there were harsh words between them until they realised they could both fit! I've put it in their cage before work, and when I got back it still had some residual heat which was good too.

u/TableTopFarmer · 3 pointsr/camping

I have a Walmart brand solar lantern similar to this one. I keep it collapsed, in one of the center cupholders, so that it is always handy and charged for the times when we are setting up camp after dark.

A gear net that stretches across the inside roof of the UTE is good for stashing a wallet, phone, eyeglasses, slippers, and a change of clothes for the morning.

If you want privacy or the ability to sleep in after the sun rises, strip magnets and black cloth will suffice to cover your windows.

If you like to cook, rather than pack a passel of spice bottles, transfer your favorites into daily medication organizers. If you are road tripping and will be out for a while, look for organizers with larger compartments.

If you will be camping in the desert in the summer, get a spray water bottle to dampen your top sheet before you go to sleep. That will keep you cool until you do and the sheet will be dry again by morning.

If you will be camping in hot and humid areas, a small rechargeable usb fan set to blow on your face and neck will make you feel much cooler.

Actually, Science Based Medicine covered nasal irrigation recently. The concept of rinsing your nose with saline is sound, and has some evidence of benefit behind it. However, buying an expensive tool or pricey saline from a magical source in France is a bit silly. You can make it at home with pickling salt (non-iodized), clean containers, and filtered water.

As an anecdote: I've done this myself using a $3 sqeeze bottle and it feels good. My old roommate, prone to sinus infections, invested in a more expensive pump system that he uses daily; he hasn't gotten a bad enough sinus infection to require a doctor visit since he started (which used to be an annual thing for him).

In my thinking, a saline flush can help get particulate matter out of your nose faster in roughly he same way that a doctor would use sterile saline to get dirt out of a wound. It won't help with viral inflammation or other types of issues.

u/bathori · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I had PD and it took about 4 months after seeing a derm to clean up.

The tacrolimus is what made the biggest difference for me but I also switched my routine so I was barely using water on my face, cleansing with spectrogel, la roche posay anthelios suncreen only and I changed my tooth paste to fluoride and sls free (toms, and a charcoal toothpaste)

Eventually I introduced Puriya moisturizer (https://www.amazon.com/Puriya-Psoriasis-Dermatitis-Shingles-Irritated/dp/B00YHZFA5E)

It's gone now but yes it was a nightmare.

u/ILikeMeSomeAvocado · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

If cleaning your nose is something OP want's to try, I highly suggest this. It may look weird to shoot a bottle of water up your nose but this cleans stuff out! It's great for allergies and my doctor says these actually work better for sinus infections than antibiotics. She doesn't prescribe them because so few people are willing to use them. Buy the refill packets as it only comes with five.

Oh yeah, another commenter mentioned that if you have memory problems, making sure you take your meds reliably can be an issue, especially if you are traveling and out of your normal routine.

I've used the pill boxes, and they work well, but filling them weekly can become a pain in the ass. I've also had a situation where the day labels have worn off and I forget if the pill box starts on Sunday or Monday... stupid I know, but it's easy to slip up if you aren't thinking about it.

I bought a smart pill cap that syncs via Bluetooth with an app on your phone, but it was HORRIBLE.. the one thing you need out of such a device is for it to be reliable, and it just wasn't. The app would alert me even though I know I've taken my meds one day, and then not alert me when I needed to take them the next. Almost every day it would have a false open around 4:00 AM, so the morning alert would never go off. It was just bad.. it was called Pillsy, so if you stumble upon it, avoid it at all costs.

I ended up finding this, and it is a near perfect solution. The bottle looks small, but will actually hold a month's worth of my meds, and timer just works perfectly.

For the hardwood and tile floors put down some rugs to help her walk. One of my little guys plays the floor is lava between our rugs, and dashes up and down the long runner in the living room. Super cute.

Getting her used to people is really only a matter of time and patience. Bunny trust is hard to earn, and easily lost. Quiet time on the floor with her, treats... that sort of thing.

As for sitting out in the rain; three of mine quite enjoy it, if it's not a very heavy downpour. Wild buns are keen to be out in the rain, because it puts off predators. Domestics haven't all lost that instinct, even if they have lost their waterproof coats. You could put something out there for her to sit under. That way she can stay dry but be outside. I've got some planks resting over a couple of buckets, and an old deck chair opened to the lying position with a blanket thrown over it for mine.

If you're worried about her being cold you could get a snuggle safe. You heat them in the microwave for 5-10 minutes and they stay warm for hours. I've got two that I put in the shed for my outdoor buns in winter. I have to recommend a nasal irrigation system. It is basically a nettie pot on steroids that cleans out the sinuses. It is very satisfying to see gobs of bright green gunk come out. I am not anti-medication or anything, just that it can be good in addition to.

Life long sufferer here as well. Try to keep your skin dry and cool, take colder and shorter showers. (As much as that sucks) Prescription steroid creams work really well although it's not really a long term solution due to your body adjusting/becoming dependent on the creams to prevent flareups. Now I use just a little bit of Aveeno lotion and wipe off the excess instead of rubbing it all in. I found that even though lotion helps prevent the drying of skin that having over-moisturized skin can actually cause the skin to itch. If it gets bad I use a bit of Cortizone-10 for eczema, it dries quickly and works very well for a non prescription ointment you also only need to use a little.

I suggest you physically go to a pharmacy or Walmart or the like and buy earplugs in bulk. If you're black, you probably won't be able to find flesh-colored plugs, but for everyone else they'll have something that'll blend in.

I keep two plugs on my keychain in a little aluminum pill case. Remove the o-ring because it'll eventually make the bottom fall off and it's not actually necessary. It feels great being the only one without ringing ears after going to a bar or hearing some live music.

EDIT: This week (in the US) Walgreens has 30% off online orders and I bought a bunch of their "Mack's Ultra Soft Foam Earplugs."

Go to Walgreens or wherever you want and get a [large pill organizer] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000LJC7N8/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1519912870&sr=8-2&keywords=big+pill+organizer&dpPl=1&dpID=31yvzMrNhrL&ref=plSrch#).

Fill it with your D20s and just shake it around to roll several in sequence. That'll give you several rolls at once.

I'd also put your normal bonus to hit for each of your attacks on the container as well.

This works for GMs who like to roll various checks secretly for the whole party as well.

Alternatively, get the group to use roll 20, you'll be able to program your iteratives in there (among many, many, other things)... But that's probably not a viable solution if you're not already using it...

That 'poop' smell can often come from your sinuses/throat/tonsils.

There are little white demon spawns which exist in your tonsils. They are aptly named 'tonsil stones'. They are soft funky things and unfortunately very closely resemble the odor of feces.

I occasionally suffer from them. Then best remedy I have found is to find something to allow you to flush out your tonsils periodically. This is the best tool I have found for this task:

It's only meant for short term use for the very reason that bacteria can build up resistance to it. That's why dermatologists will usually prescribe it it conjunction with some other medication that's more longterm, like Retin-A. Antibiotics (oral and topical) are only meant to help jump start the process.

Pyrithione zinc in its own right is antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, so you may be right that that's what's helping.

There’s an electronic gadget you wear on your wrist called a Relief Band. They sell it on Amazon and private pilot shops. Prevents nausea without drugs. Just another OTC next to the neti pot. Looks like this. Easy to clean. You literally load it up and then shoot it up your nose. Done in half the time than with a neti pot.

u/Worddroppings · 3 pointsr/Allergies

You definitely want an antihistamine, it'll dry up some of the crud too. As far as a neti pot, I'd suggest something like this.

u/GlobbyDoodle · 6 pointsr/ADHD

I bought this. Best investment ever. Don't have to think about it. Don't have to remember to use an app or write anything down. I can also tell if someone else has opened the bottle!

u/adriesty · 1 pointr/migraine

I take compazine. It was prescribed by my doc after I had some bad side effects to imitrex.

I've since stopped taking imitrex because of such shitty side effects, but still take compazine when my migraines or motion sickens make me nauseous.

I know that this might not help, but one of the things that got my sister through her severe morning sickness was these anti nausea lollipops or hard candies marketed for pregnant ladies. I'm not sure of the exact kind she used, but I'm pretty sure it was something very similar to this ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083VODME/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5CDJDbVSRM72S )

I also swear by gingersnaps instead of crackers for help with nausea, but they have to be made with real ginger.
I prefer Anna's ginger thins, if it helps.

Good luck.

Saline also works well with runny noses. This sinus kit is really effective; use filtered or distilled water.

I also am on several meds for BP and thyroid issues. I usually store away the few remaining pills when my Rx renews. So, for example, I have a 90 day Rx for my thyroid meds and the prescription renews and I have like 6 pill left. I put them in one of these and tuck it away in my safe.

I do the same with my other meds, and over time I stockpile 30+ days of backup supply for all of them. I then rotate them out as I get renewed prescriptions.

My pulmonologist recommended a nasal irrigation system after my asthma flared up due to post nasal drip and sinusitis. I've used it 3 times so far and for the first time in months I can breathe out of both nostrils. I've heard it can be good as a daily cleaner to get pollen out of your nose. This is the one I bought.

u/lanipsey · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

Thank you! I bought this a while back because I'm also prone to breaking out in hives (cause also unknown) and I didn't want to keep using hydrocortisone. So I'm gonna dust it off and use that on my hands and see if it helps.

Klim makes the ultimate hot weather helmet.

Also conditioning makes a big difference. Make sure you are well hydrated and eat plenty of salty food leading up to the ride.

I've used flexible ice packs on my back with a soft back belt to keep my core temp down. - https://www.amazon.com/JellyBeadz-Therapy-Cooling-Bandana-Scarf/dp/B004XX4XA8 - Keep these in ice cold water, throw one around your neck, and you will stay cooler longer. I ride in 100 degree temps in the woods here in Texas, and this is what I do. I can ride for 20 minutes or more before I really start to feel the heat. Without it, I can't even last 20 minutes in the heat.

I had this problem at first too. If you're taking it daily, I would highly recommend a 7-day pillbox like /u/kalupa said. Really helps stay organized and getting the right doses prepared ahead of time. I put it somewhere that I can't miss, which is typically in front of my alarm clock. If you take multiple doses a day, get the AM/PM version of the box.

Then, I leave that specific day open so when I wake up to turn the alarm and can barely see, I can just grab the box and toss 'em back like skittles. Now when I'm feeling weird and not sure if the meds are kicking in, I just look at the box and see if I missed it today for whatever reason. And that's happened at least a handful of times.

u/anachronic · 1 pointr/vegan

I put my vitamins on the monitor stand next to my monitor at work so I remember to take them while I'm eating lunch, or right after lunch. But as a student, not sure that would work.

Could you get a small pill carry tube thing like this and put it onto your keychain and set a daily phone reminder to take your pill? If you get sublingual, you won't even need water around or food in your stomach.

My memory has always been pretty bad, so I rely on calendar reminders and phone alarms to get me to do a LOT of stuff. LOL.

u/8675Thr · 1 pointr/TransDIY

Staggering medication start times is generally done so that if you have an adverse reaction to one of them, it's apparent which one is causing it. Also, I'm suggesting going bicalutamide-only initially just so you can tell if it's effectively blocking testosterone before starting the rest of the therapy.

By splitting pills, I mean getting a tablet splitter and physically cutting your pills into halves or quarters. Bicalutamide is intended to treat prostate cancer, so its dosage in a single tablet is actually much higher than most transgender women need.

A drug's half-life time is the amount of time it takes for your body to eliminate half of the drug. Flutamide has a half-life of 6 hours, so 12 hours after taking it, you only have a quarter of the dose still in your body, and an eighth after 18 hours. In comparison, bicalutamide has a half-life of 6 days, so you can sustain an effective level in your body around the clock much more easily. The flip side though is that if you took enough bicalutamide for it to immediately be effective at the first dose, you'd quickly reach toxic concentrations by taking that same amount every day. It takes about three months for the amount of bicalutamide you take daily to equal the amount eliminated by your body, regardless of what that dose is.

My sinus problems sounded exactly like yours. I started using one of these things:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CWT4JI

I used it whenever I felt like I needed it, which was like 2 or 3 times a month. After about six months, I ended up not needing it anymore. I use it maybe once or twice a year now if that. It totally fixed me up. You should buy extra salt made specifically for these things. And you should only use bottled or filtered water.

The system is designed to limit how far you can shoot the salt water up there. But I found that the farther in I could shoot it, the better the results were. IANAD and YMMV.

So...I never been to Arizona & I just started riding this spring (winter/summer, stupid Smarch weather). But I was in Iraq and Kuwait. Obviously, I was not riding motorcycles over there. Instead, I was driving semis without air condition* all while wearing the uniform & helment & flack jacket & bullet proof vest*. All that gear in 110+ weather. It was miserable. The only thing we could do was DRINK WATER. And lots of it.Get a camelbak and just drink water.

Also, something like this is amazing! They can apparently be made easily, though I never made them, only had them in care packages :) A lot of blood pumps through your neck and keeping this cold thing on your neck helps keep that cold and thus you cold. Well, cold isn't the right word. Not hot is a better way to describe it.

And you will eventually become accustom to hot climate.

This is totally worth it. I had to get one after my surgery ( but I use it at least 1-2x a week & no salt water in my throat) its a Neti pressure washer! I had sticker shock for sure, but I've saved so much money on decongestants, antibiotics, (lady medication from the antibiotics) If you get them more than 1-2x a year, go for it. Also you can use an FSA if you have one.

Also drop a mint tea bag in a pot of low boiling water and put a hand towel over your head & breathe in to get some of the congestion broken up. I hope you get feeling better. Sinus infections are horrible.

bf and I rinse ourselves out with this bottle on the toilet to flush any shit out, then shower/soap off the area. Its be best option we've found. If the digestive system is misbehaving - we'll know at the enema stage so wont go further... as least with anal anyway.

u/qpgmr · 2 pointsr/Cruise

Instead of going to drugs which will make you feel dopey, there's an alternative: the "ReliefBand" was recommended to us by a forester that had to go on helicopter surveys on constantly (surveying requires hovering, moving around an object, ascending/descending in place - anyone slightly prone to motion sickness vomits, even the pilots occassionally). https://www.amazon.com/Reliefband-1-5-Motion-Morning-Sickness/dp/B00PG4NUOS

It electrically stimulates the vagus nerve, supressing nausea. It works so well you can get it paid for with a prescription if you're on cancer chemo therapy.

Since getting it my SO (who has been know to lose it on car rides) has never became ill on over a dozen cruises, including a 15 day SF to Hawaii RT winter cruise. We got one for a friend who is much more sensitive and she had no problems, even on a very rough crossing of the sea of cortez.
