I experience a similar effect when I play Minecraft. I'm only good for about an hour before it starts to set in. If I continue to play it only gets worse.

I never have figured out any game settings to alleviate this issue. I have. however, found some remedies that help me to get my minecraft fix!

Medications like Dimenhydrinate (the brand name id Dramamine, but if you look/ask for the drug name I just listed, you can get it at half the cost from your local pharmacy) are a big help for me.

Another thing that I've found to work well for me personally are Sea Bands. These little guys are awesome. They apply pressure to a pressure point on your wrists. I don't pretend to understand why they work, but they do. It is different for each person though so they may be more or less effective for your mom. Some advice I would offer you though is if she does try them, put them on like 15-20 minutes before she plays. For me, it seemed to help more when I wore them in advance.

One last piece of advice I can offer is in regards to screen/monitor size and full-screen mode. One of the things that helps me with Minecraft when I'm not using one of the other remedies is to alter the screen mode. I have a 24" monitor that I play on so when I'm planning on playing Minecraft, I put the game in windowed mode and resize the window to about 1/2 the screen size. Having a smaller screen seems to help with how quickly the nausea sets on for me.

Minecraft is the only game in my collection that makes me sick and it drives me nuts because it's one of my favorites. I hope that my tips can help you play with your mom! I would like to add though that I'm certainly not a doctor, so take my tips with that in mind. And your mom should probably read the warnings/consult her doctor before she takes the pills.

You are incredibly sweet! For morning sickness, it really depends. Nausea can be triggered by so many things (as I'm sure you know, since you've been pregnant before) but there seems to be a general consensus about ginger-related things. Preggi-Pops and Tummydrops were my favorites.

Honestly, I just liked having things that made me feel refreshed. A humidifier/diffuser with a few essential oils would be awesome for aromatherapy - a little pricey but she can use it for anything.

If she's mentioned ANYTHING that has helped her with morning sickness, see if you can transform that into a gift. For example, having a cool cloth on my face and neck helped so I purchased one of those hot/cold eye masks from Walgreens.

It might, but not a lot yet. Hardware IPD adjustment is the most noticeable help, plus general optimizations that can help keep FPS consistent or even higher like foveated rendering, but Index doesn't have all of that tech, as well as brute force specs like refresh rate, but that might be a year or two away in consumer devices. Weight and format also influence it. I remember reading about this really crazy tech that would send electric signals to your brain to simulate the feeling of movement. Individual game optimizations can also help.

Hello,

Awesome that you're trying to get healthy. As someone who lived across the street from a McDonalds for the first 16 years of my life, I get you. It's so easy and once you get into that habit, it's super hard to get out. And I've always had a great metabolism, so it didn't physically show, but by the time I was 17 I had high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Not awesome things to have!

First question I have is, when you're experiencing nausea, does the nausea make you throw up all the time, or is it often just that feeling of needing to throw up? My mom is someone who, when feeling nauseous, makes herself throw up so that she doesn't have to feel that way anymore - that's not great for your body. If you can avoid throwing up, try to - a lot of the time nausea can pass. If you find it doesn't, try to find things that relieve the feeling instead. A lot of people recommend cutting soda out completely or switching to diet, but as someone who LOVES soda and HATES diet soda, what I do is keep soda for weekends and special occasions. Switch to water for meals, which will suck for awhile, but will get better over time. It helps if your water is as cold as you can get it, preferably with ice in it - taste buds don't taste cold as well as warmer stuff, so the water will taste better cold if you don't particularly enjoy drinking it in the first place. And go SLOW with water. More water in your diet is important - but if you drink too much too fast, especially when you're not used to it, you can feel sick.

I like breakfast foods, hate eating in the morning. I feel full when I wake up and the thought of food is gross. SO, find something light that you DO like to eat, and eat it a little later - whenever you finally feel hungry. It should be easier to do this in college since your schedule is more flexible. Alternatively, have snacks on you, even if they're lame snacks (Granola bars, 100 calorie cookie packets, crackers).

If I were you, since you don't usually cook and aren't used to non-preprepared foods, I wouldn't worry too much about counting calories or eating only health foods yet. Going light on junk food, fast food, and soda will already cut a ton of calories - so don't worry about gaining weight by switching foods. If you ARE worried, anyway, just watch your portions. Never eat until you feel stuffed or gross. Eat lots of tiny meals instead of 3 big ones. Split your meals into snacks (Have a salad. Then an hour later have a piece of chicken. Maybe eat half your sandwich at 11am, and the other half at 1pm. Eat a snack a few hours before dinner, and eat light during dinner.) You don't want to feel like you're always hungry, but you also don't want to feel bloated.

Start with easy to cook foods that sound tasty or are home-cooked versions of foods you already like. (Chicken cutlets? Homemade mac and cheese?) Also, look for healthier versions of the boxed food you like - Trader Joe's makes a pretty damn good and healthier boxed mac & cheese.

Also, add more rice and fiber to your diet - that will help a LOT with stomach problems.

I get a ton of stomach/bathroom problems when I'm anxious. For awhile I thought I had a medical condition like IBS, but I realized that it's just my anxiety irritating my stomach - so, I make sure I have GasX and Pepto pills on me at all times so that I have that as a nice safety net.

Try lots of stuff. If you try and don't like a vegetable, don't make yourself eat it. Don't try a veggie in a way you know you won't like it - if you think you'll like broccoli and cheese but know you won't like it plain, try it with cheese first (or heavily seasoned, or with soy sauce, etc). I know that's not as healthy, but work your way in, or you'll have a much harder time. You can work your way to the healthiest options slowly.

Hi! Chemo survivor here! (Disclosure: I went through chemo for an auto immune disease, not cancer).

I would steer away from books, actually. Reading, watching TV, and anything where I had to focus my eyes made me sick.

  • this simple acupuncture band helped. But I survived off of audible tor entertainment.


  • A friend of mine bought my audible subscription, and then also got a bunch of our friends to give me their logins so I could listen to books they’d already purchased without having to use my credits, which was really thoughtful.

  • My biggest saving grace were essential oils- not because I believed they would cure me, but because every little smell also made me nauseous. Wild Thera makes a bunch of different types of balms with oils and beeswax, which I carried everywhere to mask the smells of the word.

  • If you’re willing to drop a pretty penny and the friend doesn’t already have AC and/or a HEPA air purifier, those are both crucial. Chemo made me sweat a TON, and I couldn’t sleep through the night unless it was 5 degrees. The hepa air filter is just to lower the risk of infection.

  • Ergonomic pillows, leg bolsters, etc. she’s going to spend a lot of time in bed, so it’s important she’s properly supported.

  • Sleep Mask

  • Ice Packs/Heating pad

  • Coloring books with colored pencils

  • travel scrabble

  • a cozy blanket or sweatshirt. She’ll probably have a PICC line put in, meaning they’ll need to access her collarbone ish area so off the shoulder sweaters are great.

  • socks with anti slip bottoms -the hospital will make you wear their scratchy ones if she gets admitted with regular socks

  • sour and hard candy

    I think those are all the things I wanted, other than my friends to take me to chemo. I liked having a friend go with me because it passed the time faster having someone to talk with.

    Edit: whoever said weed has it right. It really helped, a ton. I wouldn’t smoke it, but some of my favorite hard candies and gummies were weed candy. I live in Seattle though, so it’s probably more accessible.

I love headache helpers! They make me feel sooooo much better whenever I have motion sickness. Kind of weird, but I get really bad motion sickness, especially when playing video games. I have no idea why. But when I put those on I can feel all the sickness melt away. I like cutesy things, like the pattern you had with trees and clouds, but it doesnt really matter. And have you ever had flax pancakes? I dont know why, but I LOVE them. They're usually pretty dry, but its nothing some maple syrup cant fix!

Okay. I'm here for this.

I've tried everything for this because I always suffer from motion sickness but I enjoy doing things involving motion-- planes, boats, cars, etc.

Ginger can work, so try drinking some ginger ale and, if you're a fan of ginger, carry some ginger candy with you on the plane. Dramamine often works for me and that's an easy go-to, just make sure you take it 30 minutes before the plane takes off and prepare to get sleepy. Some people swear by the pressure wristbands but they never worked for me. I even tried an electronic relief band that's supposed to interrupt the signal your stomach sends to your brain telling you to feel sick, but it's uncomfortable, made my hand spasm, and ultimately gave me blisters. The most effective treatment for me BY FAR has been the transdermal scopolamine patch. It's a time-release patch you wear on your neck behind your ear and it's good for three days. It's AMAZING-- it's all I use now. Almost no side effects-- no drowsiness at all-- but make sure you wash your hands after applying it because if you get the medication from the patch in your eye it'll temporarily dilate your pupil. It's a prescription, too, so you'd need to get your GP to prescribe it, but it's definitely worth the hassle. I recently took a cruise from Buenos Aires to Elephant Bay, Antarctica through notoriously bad seas-- not to mention all the flying to get to SA in the first place-- and the patches made the entire experience a DELIGHT.

Definitely look into medication from your doctor! Some may work better than others. The medication my doctor prescribed me didn't work so great :/ Ended up sticking it out and lived off crackers and lemon water with a ton of ice cubes for weeks. Even with the medicine, this was really still the only stuff I could handle.

I hope it goes away soon! It's absolutely miserable. By week 15 I was feeling closer to normal, and it slowly improved since then :) but I definitely got to my mental breaking point around week 12 or so. :( Try to hang in there!!

Yeah, I’m really into water but I’m actually really not into combining air and water. That is fun while you’re doing it: gurgles and nice swelling. But then afterwards it’s the worst of both worlds. With air, you can lie down and deflate. With water, you sit on the toilet and drain. With both, you can’t get the air out sitting down, and you can’t lie down to just release the air because you’ll release water too. Still, some of those inflations are fun on occasion when you have a lot of time to kill.

Water is the best way to become a better inflator, for sure. I used to prefer air for probably the same reasons you do, but water inflations using a defined volume in a bag are for-sure the way to train. That way you can take 1 liter one day, 1.2 liters another, 2 liters, 3 liters, 4 liters... I hit a full eight liters three times a few years ago. These days I usually just shoot for 4-6 liters and play around with my balloon belly for an hour or two. Training with water really helps you learn how to stay inflated comfortably, and you can use that experience with air or whatever. You learn not to try and hold your ass closed, but to try and move stuff up higher with your muscles so you’re not even putting pressure on your rectum. With air I find I end up relaxing a bit and some leaks out. With water I can’t do that because I don’t want to drip, so all the inflation ends up in my belly!

I trained for a while lying on a towel on my bathroom floor. I think the key is not to try and take as much as you can hold. Instead, try and take what you can hold for a full half hour; watch a show. Don’t let yourself leak at all. That lets you learn the muscle movement you need to get nice and big. These days I can inflate nice and big from basically any position. I’m usually sitting in my living room in a reclining chair on my PC - bag hangs from a garment rack.

It may also help his mental state to relax more if he cleans himself out thoroughly beforehand - I can't speak for him but as a bottom myself I know I definitely find it much easier to relax when I know, not hope, but know, that there won't be any accidents lol.

My pre-play routine usually involves not eating any solid foods that day and then doing one of those enemas at least an hour before playtime (they seem to be good for about 4 hours after).

I say at least an hour because both your body and mind need some time to recover. If he does one of these to prepare, make sure he hydrates once you're done playing.

preggie pops!! they were a lifesaver for this pregnancy, I’ve been sick since the pee stick dried & only started feeling better at like 26 weeks. Oh and diclegis, if you can afford it. It was covered by insurance for my first, but not this one & it made a world of a difference.

Easy to eat/prepare foods for snacking in-between meals. I don’t know if it was this way for anyone else but, I’d often have trouble keeping food down. Having easy things to munch on a bit after evacuating my stomach was nice.

Fresh towels by the bedside was nice for nights I would wake up sweating, which was often and annoying.

If you’re considering vacuum sealed food storage you might also be the type(like me) who would enjoy the peace of mind cooking certain foods using sous vide might offer, as it allows you to control the exact temperature your food reaches. Although this might be a rather expensive route.

I’m so sorry you’re having such a rough go. :( Whoever decided to call it morning sickness was very cruel for giving us that expectation.

I’ve only thrown up maybe 3 or 4 times now (and I’m 9 weeks tomorrow), but I’m nauseous almost constantly. I’ve gotten a lot of relief from sucking on ginger candies , drinking peppermint tea, Preggie Pop Drops, and eating very small meals throughout the day when the nausea lets up a little bit.

If you’re having trouble eating enough, I’d definitely recommend some protein shakes and Clif bars. When I know I need some calories/protein/sugar, those two things help a lot. And since they’re generally small portions with a lot of nutrition, I feel they hold me over. I’ve also really enjoyed smoothies when I feel my blood sugar might be low but I can’t handle a full meal.

Omg, I so relate. I'm terrified of vomiting and when I start to feel panicky, it's the first thing I freak out about! I'm so sorry to hear you're suffering so much. I think it's so important to reflect on why you are so scared of vomiting? As for me, I have Complex PTSD, BPD, and GAD. My anxiety is so hard to cope with, and I have trauma surrounding vomiting. I talked to my therapist about it and she's trying to help me realize that vomiting is a normal part of being a human. And that vomiting from a panic attack, illness, etc, is very far removed from the source of my trauma/fears surrounding nausea/vomiting. Pregnant women sometimes vomit every morning from morning sickness, people vomit if they feel nauseous from being on boats/planes/cars. Vomiting feels so horribly scary and miserable, and it feels like you've totally lost control!! But it will not kill you. It's discomfort, but you only ever have to experience that discomfort one moment at a time.

I've gone through spells of intense nausea for hours, with little to no emotional support, and I can tell you that it was hell on earth for me with my anxiety/panic problems. So I completely relate. hug

Aside from working it out in your head (why am I so scared of nausea/vomiting? how can I help myself remember that I won't die and it's a normal part of being human?), here are some other ideas that might help:

  • Chew anti-nausea gum

  • Maybe buy one of those anti-nausea wristbands
  • Maybe write down on a sheet of paper in pretty pens, that discomfort and nausea/vomiting are normal and okay and that you won't die, and that you'll be okay
  • Maybe get a stress ball or stuffed animal you can squeeze if you're feeling really scared of nausea
  • Please discuss all of this with a good psychologist if you haven't already, if you're able


    When I get scared and nauseous, I tend to repeat things over and over, out loud, like "please help, help, help, help, help, I'm so scared, I'm so scared, oh my god, no, no, no, no." I relate to you so much and I feel for you so much. Please feel free to PM me if you wanna talk about it more.

    Edit: Wanted to add that when I'm really nauseous, pacing the floor or walking outside helps. Sometimes just changing the environment can help a little and moving your body, can help.

Nausea is my most disruptive symptom :p I take an prescription antiemetic (not odansetron which gave me the worst, most painful constipation of my life when I was on it for a month), but if it's just occasional that this happens you might try dramamine/gavrol; if nothing else it's sometime to try if you can't get to the doctor for an Rx right away.

I started out really disliking ginger, but now I love it, lol. But these The Ginger People tablets are amazingly effective at controlling nausea. They're chewable, but you can just swallow them whole w/ a bit of water and you won't get much ginger flavor (if you do chew them it's like getting punched in the mouth by ginger root, just fyi). I've tried other tablets and capsules, and though they all work to some extent, these one are the best. I do find that taking a peppermint supplement helps, but even taking it on an empty stomach and using an enteric coated variety doesn't always stop it from flaring up my gerd; most days I just deal w/ it.

My Mom has cancer and is currently undergoing chemo again to try and push it back (she has a brain tumour).

We’ve found that Sea-Bands have helped with the sickness. This could all be psychosomatic but she hasn’t felt sick when wearing them and her appetite (which went terrible) has returned as she feels able to eat.

My Mom’s also found she’s developed a problem with mint when brushing her teeth so I brought her some unflavoured toothpaste from Amazon and she’s been fine with that. She says it’s a little powdery but bearable.

Grease can also be an issue, like the smell of grease in the house can make you heave if you’re already feeling ill. So just be wary if you’re a big fried chip fan.

However, no two people are the same and hopefully you’ll sail through your chemo. Just remember to eat what you want, when you want it. You don’t have to eat big meals if you don’t want them. Take everyday as it comes and remember to smile even when feeling down.

You’ll be amazed at what smiling to yourself in the mirror can do for your mood.

I'm reaching out here to see what products/solutions other redditors use to combat simulator sickness.

I've had bad motion sickness ever since I was a kid. A twenty minute car ride used to have me in tears, often vomiting as a child. As I got older, my motion sickness has gone away for the most part but I've recently been reexperiencing it when I use my HMD.

To combat motion sickness, I've been using dramamine which has worked perfectly at eliminating motion sickness. However, I don't care for the drowsiness it often brings. I'm also not keen on the idea of taking drugs every time I strap into vr.

Some of my favorite vr games make me the most sick, like To the Top, Onward, Edge of Nowhere, etc. Even if I don't have qualms with self medicating with dramamine and putting up with the side effects, I would like to be able to share these experiences with my friends without having to give them dramamine as well. Most are hesitant to use it to begin with, and if they don't take up my offer on it, their first experience can be entirely ruined by motion sickness.

I recently ran across this product on Amazon which has a lot of very good reviews for combating motion sickness. If it does work, it would also allow me to share vr experiences with friends without feeling guilty about making them take drugs or dealing with being sick. I'll probably pick one up because if it works, it's worth the $100 to me and if it doesn't, I can just return it.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this or a similar product that worked for them or if you have some other technique that has helped you.

Yes, all the ginger. I found these to be the most effective for me.

It sucks, but you just need to keep doing it to build up tolerance. Set aside five minutes at the end of each training session and just spin on your hoop to both sides. Focus on your hand or a static point on the hoop instead of staring off into space.

I'm really sensitive to motion and unfortunately because spinning is so crucial in straps, I really had to really work to build up a tolerance for it. I would force myself to spin every time I trained and then immediately go throw up, no joke. It's gotten better. Still not perfect, but I don't need ginger anymore and don't need to sit down the second I start spinning.

I was feeling awful but my mom bought me these pregnancy candies and while they didn't make me "better," the certainly took the edge off, I always kept some in my pocket at work. OB told me that sugar levels (even if you aren't diabetic, even if you have perfect health) affect nausea, so sugary stuff (white starches, candy, fruit, etc.,) can make nausea worse, and protein stabilizes sugar so it can help prevent nausea. I found that I did feel better after eating a spoonful of peanut butter for breakfast instead of a cup of fruit or a waffle. Hunger also makes it worse, eating a ton of small snacks really worked for me.

The nausea candies plus eating a few cashews or peanuts for protein every few hours did make me feel better. I've heard great things about the medications and supplements other users have mentions, but personally never tried them. I hope she finds something that helps!

I got airsick doing steep turns and also on a bumpy day when I was starting out, although I never threw up.

As others have said: ginger pills. Got them at walmart. I take one sometimes two before I fly. Haven't felt sick since.

Eat before: I eat peanut butter sandwiches or peanut butter crackers or something filling but not heavy. Also hydrate before as well.

They are little wristbands that hold a pressure point on your wrist. You forget you're wearing them. Haven't felt even a little queasy since I tried them, even today which was really hot and bumpy this afternoon. I also only wear one of them but you can use both. I know they are a little dorky looking, but honestly it's better than wearing your breakfast. I was skeptical at first, but honestly I was willing to try anything and I feel like they helped alot. Good luck and try to fly more frequently to get used to flying!

Nah I've got it on prescription so I take pills. I honestly don't know enough about it to provide proper advice, however, I'd probably just buy something like this and take the recommended dose. My prescription pills say you should take them 30 mins to 1 hour before eating, 2 to 3 times a day. Each pill contains 0.2ml peppermint oil. The link above contains the same amount of oil but it also contains ginger and fennel oils which mine do not. Personally I would not take more than one pill at a time.

I've heard charcoal capsules work well too, but I think that's mainly for people who have problems with excess gas. (Which may be better suited to you?)

It's worth doing some research yourself before making a purchase, or even consulting your doctor/pharmacist. I'm really not sure if you should be using them on a long-term basis.

Here's an interesting forum thread about charcoal. It seems that peppermit can inhibit the absorption of iron. (But so do coffee, fiber, and eggs.)

Obligatory check in with your doctor if it's a sudden change in bowel habits statement here. If it's IBS I've found that peppermint oil capsules keep the cramping to a minimum. I use IBGuard, but there are plenty of cheaper alternatives out there. Placing a heating pad over your abdomen can really help soothe the cramps too! This is my go-to yoga routine for alleviating cramps as well. Hope all this gets sorted out for ya and you get some relief!

NAH - pregnancy is hard for everyone involved. I spent many nights sleeping in on the edge of our full sized bed during our first pregnancy, but it didn't adversely effect my sleep so it's not fair to judge. If you can't sleep like that then it's perfectly fine to sleep on the couch, but you should still cuddle and spend time with your partner.
The vomiting is another issue. She's past her first trimester, so it should be getting better, but there are some things you can do to help prevent it. B-6 and doxylamine work for my wife. You can maybe try this or Hyland's makes this. I have had some success from Hyland's teething tabs and sniffles tabs. They dissolve and are safe for young kids. My other thoughts from my pregnancy nausea are mints (I liked spearmint better than peppermint) and also try ginger, like ginger ale. Another thought is the lollipops they make for pregnant ladies. I think they're called preggo pops or preggy pops. Also, my aunt owns a cleaning business and she uses a product called Odo-Ban for things that have a bad smell. Good Luck.

Mythbusters did an episode indicating that ginger root is an effective supplement too, good excuse for a sushi feast.

Take it easy. I could barely run my first trimester. I’m 13+1 today and ran 2 miles for the first time in a while last week. I was still tired. This weekend I finally feel like I have some energy again and hiked 9 miles yesterday and 7 today. The first 11 weeks or so I took a lot of walks.

I was lucky and didn’t have much nausea, but when I did, I usually had to eat or I’d pop a preggie pop

I highly recommend purchasing some emesis bags. They saved my life during pregnancy. I kept them in my purse, the car, and every single room in the house (plus one in the shower stall). Perfect for when you're exploding out both ends.

I'm 6'5", 250lbs, and I've been running or lifting just about every day. I drink most of the 2000 calorie container each day, but I require about 3000-3500 calories for my body size, so I eat a meal and snack on top of that. My BM frequency increased quite a bit after starting Soylent 1.0. I went from once a day to 3, maybe 4 times a day, and now it's settled back down to two on average. I don't think the overall amount is much different though. Probably less, if anything. I've been adding whey protein, PB2, and assorted fruits to make smoothies for about half of my Soylent meals.

As far as the gas goes, I believe they're essentially adding Beano to 1.1, so perhaps you could pick up some to tide you over. My gas issues subsided after the first week, although I'm still above my baseline. Not really much different than when I eat oatmeal though.

I don't think that your eCigs or vaping habits would be responsible. Although, it's possible that munchies could get your bowel moving a bit because you're feeling hungry, even if you're not eating anything due to them.

Drinking Soylent slowly seems to help a lot, but I recommend getting something for the gas if it's not getting better. Perhaps cutting back on your Soylent intake just a bit would make things more tolerable. 1 "real" meal a day seems to be working well for me.

I just wanted to share this brand I use, as I prefer them over the standard blue ones from the hospital. I use these ones because they are a lot thinner and fit better in a purse! They also have a 2 drawstring mechanism to tie it shut and avoid messes. The best part is there’s like an absorbent pad inside the bag that turns all liquids into a gel so that it does not smell. Super great if you are wanting to be a little more discreet!!

I use 2 tools to try and deal with motion sickness (besides stopping play immediately once I feel off). One is Sea Bands. Super cheap, and simple motion sickness treatment.

Another is to have a fan going pointed at me. It helps cool me off and also keeps my body oriented even as I’m immersed in VR. Maybe one of those would help you!

It's probably motion sickness. I get this with certain games, mainly FPS games. I also get that overly warm feeling. Make sure you drink enough water.


Do you ever feel claustrophobic in first person games? Like, your brain feels like it can't take a break? That's what it's like for me. In third person, it feels freeing because I can see my character.

You can actually get sickness bracelets which apply pressure to a certain point on your wrist which has helped me before. After I lost the pair I had I began just applying pressure to that point with my other hand, which seemed to continue to help, though did bruise if I wasn't careful.

Beyond that I have always a breathing technique to mitigate this kind of thing. Breathe in through your nose for four seconds (count it out in your head, nice and slowly) and then breathe out slowly and deeply through your mouth. This is a technique that has helped me throughout my life.

Beyond that you can also try eating mints (although be careful). Mint is a muscle relaxant so if your stomach is a little tensed up mint can help you out somewhat, although don't go wild, as it can act as a laxative! All in all though mint has helped me a lot. (I'd avoid sugary mints like Polos or Tic-tTacs as they're less likely to have as much actual mint, and on top of that are just not as good for you)

Have you tried any meds? Uribel works really well to minimize my pain, but some people have insurance problems with it. And I take Prelief when I "cheat" on my diet. It's a supplement but was strongly recommended by my urologist, and I've had good luck with it.

Also, if you eventually want to try coffee again... It's way less acidic if you cold brew it. You can heat it up after if you want. :)

Having a bit of poop present is quite normal. If it concerns you or your partner, you can clean out. There are lots of ways to clean the colon before sex. Here's a good solution. It's a little late to recommend vomit bags, but CareBags are among the best: they have a draw string to close and keep the stench out and an absorption pad built in.

Also, if you're taking care of drunks- while it might not get you any additional tips- water and something for them to munch might help them stay somewhat coherent.

Grab some SeaBands or their generic equivalent. We keep several sets on the boat for those prone to seasickness and newbies who even think they might be. As a rule, if you get carsick, you probably also get seasick.

If you do find yourself feeling seasick, you are better off on the deck than down below. Spend some time looking at the horizon to calm your stomach.

Also, sunscreen! It can be tough to find shade out on the water, plus, you have the sun reflected back at you. That can lead to a seriously painful burn, so, cover up!

Relax, have fun, and listen carefully to the skipper, and I think you'll have a great time.

Follow YOUR cravings for what sounds good...for some it's acid (vinegar or citrus), for others it's ginger, for others who develop hg, only Meds will help.

It's totally ok right now if your whole diet is bagels and cream cheese for a week. As long as you are taking a quality prenatal, the most important thing is that you don't get dehydrated or too hungry.

Ugh! I’m sorry. It is probably worth checking in with your OB and see if there is anything else they can do to help you. Maybe chewing gum or peppermints? Or I found it helpful to carry around something that smelt like peppermint (cheap essential oils), sometimes that made me “forget” the gagging.

Congrats! I'm not in quite the same position, but my husband travels a lot for work (in the busy season, he's out of town 3 to 4 days every other week).

The hardest part for me was morning sickness. Sometimes the dumbest things got to me. My dachshund has a distinct "hound" smell to her, if it's been more than a week since she got a bath. That would set it off. Dishes. Cleaning toilets. Stuff like that. My best suggestion if you have really bad morning sickness is those puke bags they offer in hospitals, you can buy them on Amazon.

I remember when my dog had the poops in his crate while I was at work. I was dry heaving in the back yard at 1am literally sobbing "I can't do this." But my husband was out of town for several days, and I had to do it. And you know what? I did. And I survived.

It was rough sometimes, but we got through it. I'm in my third trimester now and he is still traveling for work, that's not gonna change. But we powered through the rough feelings.

I know what you mean about feeling alone. But you're never really alone, between your mom and your friend and the wonderful people on Reddit. And if you ever need someone to talk to, you can always talk to me about it, if you'd like.

Best recommendation: Ginger, Preggie Pops and Preggie Pops Chews

If it's bad enough where she can't keep any food or fluid down, make sure she talks to the doctor so they can make sure it's not HG and/or recommend a B6 + Unisom concoction.

And of course, all the love and support you can give will go a long way. There are days where I just needed to sleep on the bathroom tile. On those days, my SO brought me a pillow and a glass of water to keep by the toilet.

I ate plain carbs like bagels with dark, caffeine free soda like root beer. That’s what my child got nutrients from for about the first trimester and about half of the second trimester. If i ate those things, i felt fine and could function normally. I also got this thing filled with essential oils that you smell that really helped nausea. you can prevent it by cooking them yourself. The two ways of dealing with oligosaccharides are

  1. Soaking the beans in water for several hours before cooking. 9 to 10 hours is best

  2. Cooking the beans in an alkaline solution. This is why grandma always add baking soda when she cooked beans, made the solution more alkaline

Yes, usually it's from the pain of being constipated or I just plain ate something that didn't agree with me. I usually go for the peppermint capsules or Digestzen

Edit: It could be spasms though. If so you may need to ask your Doc for something like Bentyl or some other kind of antispasmodic.

Also, I would look up “emesis bag” on Amazon. They are disposable bags for throwing up. This is going to sound so weird, but picture a large condom. The open end is a hard ring. The rest is a touch plastic. Several ERs in my area use them. You hold the ring to your mouth and throw up into the bag. Then you throw it away. These have been a life changer for me. They come without being stretched out first (similar to a condom) so they can be stowed in the car, purse, wherever. And unlike solid pans/trash cans/etc., it’s easy to keep one in bed with you if you wake up ready to vomit. Here’s an example. I don’t know if this is the cheapest or anything. And they also come in packs less than 50. This isn’t a referral link or anything.

When I was doing my training, I used to get motion sickness during steep turns (after a few turns). I ended up buying Sea Bands (http://www.amazon.com/Sea-Band-Wristband-Color-Vary-1-Pair/dp/B001F731N0/) for myself, as well as some generic ginger pills from Whole Foods and it did help me. It's quite possible it was a placebo effect, I won't deny it, but I also don't care, since it helped me get over the motion sickness (I no longer wear them :)

I do keep them in my bag and give them to passengers who are squirmish, and they seem to like it as well. I don't know if I'd spend $90 as per the previous suggestion, but these are $6, so...

I also still keep a box of ginger pills in my flight bag for the same reason.

Prelief is an OTC antacid. For whatever reason, it seems to help a lot of people. The top review on Amazon is by someone who uses it for GERD, actually.

FWIW, these are the kinds of vomit bags you'll find in a hospital. You twist and clip when done to close it up. Cupping your hand around/under the top rim of these things is, IME, far superior to holding the edges of a ziploc open.

I think pink sea salt is just hype with too few minerals to make much of a difference. I recommend a quality multivitamin and 50/50 sodium and potassium salt in order to make sure you're getting enough potassium which is an important electrolyte. A splash (teaspoon) of magnesium in your water will give you a good amount of this important electrolyte as well and at a much lower cost than pink salt. Magnesium can be a laxative if taken in higher doses and that effect occurs with both the liquid and pill.

I HATE taking large pills, that's why I use liquid or gummies, but feel free to take pills if you'd like.

Combine these and you will be getting everything you need, and at a lower price than pink salt.

Gum all the time is suspicious! I feel strongly about that especially now because “they are on to you” I would even stay away from it.

I have the same issues. I never travel without my motion sickness bracelets and I always always always take my ginger candy.... suck on them don't chew them.

And when I know I'm going on a long bus or a boat ride I use motion sickness patches. These aren't the exact ones I use, I live in Korea, where you can get an over the counter version, but this is basically the point.

My ex gets motion sickness, and he got it pretty bad after Forbidden Journey. He ended up taking dramamine and got really sleepy. We plan to go again next year so he got these after a friend recommended them. Apparently they really work!

I think if you chew ginger gum, take non-drowsy dramamine, and wear those bracelets you can try riding the rides during the end of the day before you go back to your hotel. That way you'd be safe back in bed once the pukes kick in, lol. I hope any of that helped!

It's probably a bit more expensive, but there's one called 'IBGard' that is actually qualified as a medical food, which I'm assuming means it has undergone clinical testing and shown positive results. My doc recommended it. It's also encapsulated for time release, which is probably part of the additional cost.

Buy generic (can't really go wrong as the key ingredient is the lactase enzyme), it's pretty cheap: 180 Pills for $21.99 on Amazon ($.12 a pill). You can probably get smaller quantities at a similar price point at your local drugstore. It's worth it to be able to eat ice cream without the dreadful repercussions.

I'm not sure if you've tried this before, but it might be helpful to anyone reading. I take a bunch of daily medications for migraines and they give me severe heartburn, and the only thing that's ever worked has been:

8oz water

3tbsp apple cider vinegar

4tbsp honey

The heartburn my medication gives me can cause me to vomit, that's how bad it can get. I really recommend this tip to anyone who hasn't found an OTC remedy yet. It doesn't taste as bad as you'd think.

Also, if your heartburn is caused by food, my doctor recommended this acid reducer to take before meals that might help.

My wife took Diclegis and it seemed to help, at least at first. She ended up only needing it once or twice, but her OB suggested taking it up to 4 times if needed. I'd recommend your wife talk to her OB about that and other alternatives. Mine also took Tums daily, and regularly drank ginger ale (make sure it has real ginger) and used preggy pop drops.

Dramamine works to counteract the motion sickness, but I don't like the idea of popping in a pill every time I want to play a game. Did it a few times and it really helped.

Acupressure wristbands are what I use now, and I'm surprised it works just as well.

Yep. If taken in sufficient quantities, hence the warning about no more than 500mg at once.

Example - this laxative on Amazon has Magnesium Citrate as the active ingredient.

It's 1.75 grams per fluid ounce at 10 fluid oz for 17.5 grams or 17,500mg -- Meaning that single bottle would last you 17 and a half days if you took 500mg twice a day.

The recommended dosage as a laxative -- 1/2 to 1 bottle -- So on the low end of their dose at that half bottle, they're recommending 17.5 TIMES the maximum dose I'm recommending of 500mg at once.

TL;DR - Yep, is laxative. Be careful, space out your dosages, don't exceed 500mg within a couple hours, and you'll be fine. Some days I take up to 2000mg, but 1000mg is a safe baseline.

I also react poorly with any SSRI antidepressant, but this is an old tricyclic antidepressant which has very minimal side effects. You take it right before bed so you'll wake up a bit groggy. But the rest of the day is pretty smooth.

Try peppermint oil immediately. It will give you instant relief.

The performance is better with DX11 but unfortunately the flickering is still there, I forgot that the anti aliasing doesn't do anything in VR. I think it was motion sickness that was causing my headaches, I started wearing sea bands while playing and I haven't had any issues. Even with the flickering the game is still gorgeous and a blast to play in VR.

I threw up a LOT at work, and really liked these ones because you don’t have to worry about spilling or leaks. They also twist and tie off so you can stop the smell immediately, which was nice during takeoff bc I couldn’t get to the trash anytime quickly.

So uh, I know most people wouldn't consider this a practical solution, but these work really well in a short amount of time. You're basically cleaning from the inside out, so there's virtually nothing left to wipe. I replace the solution with tap water because otherwise it acts as a laxative and end up cleaning out the entire house rather than what's just behind the threshold.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before in the post but try putting motion sickness bands on. They are called seabands. I usually get bouts of motion sickness as well and its terrible. Usually happens to me with FPS games. So i got these for a cruise and read that you can also wear it for vertigo, gaming, and rides like roller coasters.

I take compazine. It was prescribed by my doc after I had some bad side effects to imitrex.

I've since stopped taking imitrex because of such shitty side effects, but still take compazine when my migraines or motion sickens make me nauseous.

I know that this might not help, but one of the things that got my sister through her severe morning sickness was these anti nausea lollipops or hard candies marketed for pregnant ladies. I'm not sure of the exact kind she used, but I'm pretty sure it was something very similar to this ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083VODME/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5CDJDbVSRM72S )

I also swear by gingersnaps instead of crackers for help with nausea, but they have to be made with real ginger.
I prefer Anna's ginger thins, if it helps.

Try seabands! They're wristbands that push on a pressure point, and they have worked really well for me. Has worked for me in VR and for motion sickness in cars, planes, and boats, with no side effects. I don't know if this is a real thing, but it accidentally worked for me - I started taking Vitamin E because I read it helped with acne. While it did nothing for my acne, my stomach issues are virtually gone.

I've had IBS since I was a teenager, and managed it mostly with diet but if I ate one wrong thing or got stressed or nervous I would get diarrhea all the time. I can count the number of times I've had diarrhea on one hand in the last few months. It's been great.

I've also read that peppermint oil capsules work well, but I've never tried them so I can't personally vouch for them.

These emesis bags are AMAZING. They are long/deep so there is no splash back, have a rigid mouth for easy one handed use (no struggling to keep a Ziploc bag open while driving and fighting the terrible urge to vomit on everything), are fairly compact, and twist and 'clip into' a notch on the rigid mouth so when you are done you can close off the bag and not have to look at and smell your ouke until you have a chance to toss it.

I was puking until delivery and this is what made it not ruin my life completely (these and Diclegis). I kept a few in every car and in my purse and various places around the house.

For the peeing I have no easy solution other than what I did- just always keep a towel in the car to frantically stuff under you when you feel that pukey urge coming :P

i got 30 for around $12 from amazon. they are blue and i have been told they are like the ones they have in hospital.

so far none of my Uber passengers used one but one of my friend passengers did and it was fortunatei had it because there was very littlewarning and it would have been a mess.

Exactly. My wife wears seabands (These) and can play for hours. Without them it only takes ~30min before she starts getting a twisted feeling in her stomach. I don't really believe that these things do anything physically, but her brain has decided that when she puts them on she doesn't get sick, so I don't mind spending $10 on them.

Get some lactase enzyme pills (lactase is the enzyme to break down the milk sugars that your body no longer produces) and start eating some dairy again. They work great.

I have a weak stomach but still love to cruise. Usually the first night of sailing, I'm a hot mess, and then for the rest of the time I'm fne. Dramamine works for some people and there are bracelets that are somehow magic. I've never tried those but I know people who have and they say it works. The only cruise ship that I didn't feel seasick on at all was the Allure of the Seas which is I believe the second largest ship.

EAH. She’s pregnant and you’re getting butt hurt that she doesn’t give you enough room in the bed. She found a pillow that makes her comfortable enough to sleep- that’s awesome, a lot of pregnant women are unable to. I’m sure you two can find a temporary solution where you both can sleep during pregnancy. You sleeping on the couch doesn’t have to be reactive to a fight- it can just be that you both are honoring that sleep is important for both of you. As far as her puking goes, she should of figured out a way to not vomit everywhere by now. I know it’s tricky with pregnancy bc it’s uncertain when the continuous nausea will actually lead to vomiting, it can escalate so fast. I recommend getting emesis bags- you put them right up to your mouth, so she can’t miss, and you can leave them all over the house, so she really can’t miss.

Do not skimp on bags. You will need them someday and $10 gets you enough bags to cover a hundred hours of missed surge times. A $150 cleaning fee is nothing when it keeps you from driving during the weekend traffic or pre-game rushes. I have only gone through 5 of these in 18 months but the one passenger whose aim was off proved their value

To provide an alternate tip, dramamine didn't work for me, and the drowsey side effect is quite strong. What I use instead is this and this.

A warning though the ginger one is quite spicy. These two drops helped me settle my stomach as my VR legs developed. It also helped me "reset" my VR association after I've had a nauseous experience. As others have said if you have a bad time even so much as the smell of the HMD will set you off. In those cases I would pop a few drops and play something extremely passive that I know shouldn't cause nausea. I'm at a point now where I'm able to play classic Doom in VR, a game that wasn't even designed for VR.

Took me from getting really sick after 15 minutes into certain games, to running around RE feeling maybe slightly unsettled after a few hours. I never believed in stuff like this, but it's worth the 6 dollar gamble if you experience any level of motion sickness. Just follow the instuctions.

That’s when I offer to drive when I can, or else I feel like crap for the rest of the day until I nap. I know they say to keep your eyes on the road or looking out the window helps, but it makes it worse for me. I tried acupressure wristbands and this is the only thing that has helped me. I don’t get nauseous, grumpy, headaches, or extreme fatigue. It works best when you put them on correctly (duh) and 15 min before your trip.

My mum used to get chronic sea sickness every year on our annual ferry trip to France, she literally threw up on every journey. After maybe 15 years of sickness she tried these motion sickness bands, from the first time she used them until today (15 years) she hasn't been sick since. So I am trying them, so far I would say they have reduced my sickness in the Rift.

Sea-Bands...I have two pair. One for normal wear and one for the shower (Seriously. I was nauseous 24/7).

Crystallized ginger. Found it at Frys in the organic foods section. It's spicy but it really helped!
