🎓 Reddit experts on cell phone chargers & power adapters
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where cell phone chargers & power adapters are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
They're not super sensitive, as the commenter mentioned below, but a decent receiver with 95w@8ohms for 2ch (as the X2300W has) should be sufficient, especially in your environment.
Supposedly when you go up in power, you increase the dynamic output marginally as well as giving yourself some headroom. However, you'd see a MUCH bigger improvement in dynamics by picking up a sub (something like this for a sealed, if you want controlled, tight bass in your apartment, but you may have a taste for ported subs).
Edit: also, congrats! I think you'll love them. You got quite a deal. If you don't mind my asking, where did you come across this deal?
Edit 2: I have separate pre-amps and amps because I inherited them. They're actually really nice -- a Parasound HCA-1500a amp and an Anthem AVM 50 processor, and I love them. I think that for most environments, however, the difference is negligible between separates and a good receiver, and due to the economies of scale and the fact that good receivers will come packaged with good room correction, I think receivers are the best value proposition if you're buying something new.
Ok. Here we go! It’s impossible to tell you what the best of everything is, since the best for me, isn’t necessarily the best for you. So here’s my setup, and reasons why.
My iPhone XS is protected by one of two cases.
I use the Spigen Full Coverage Tempered Glass screen protector . It’s the least intrusive screen protector I have used. I love it. Combined with a case, it’s virtually invisible and it covers the entire screen without negative affects on Face ID or screen clarity. They are also cheap.
I have a Apple Watch Series 4 Nike+ and it’s protected by a RhinoShield CrashGuard NX. This is the only case I’ve found that fits, and doesn’t wear or tear like some of the other TPU cases out there. It’s saved my watch many times from hits and scuffs.
I’ve searched long and hard for a screen protector for my Watch I like, and ill be honest, I haven’t found a single one that doesn’t peel, and if it doesn’t (like glass) it will crack or chip. Many non-glass screen protectors distort the hell out of the display. In other words, screen protectors for the watch just aren’t worth it.
In the car, I use Anker PowerLine II USB to Lightning Cables. These cables are bulletproof. They have always maintained a great connection for me, they are braided and have been super durable when shoving them into small spaces like behind headliners, plastic trim etc in the car. The PowerLine v1 has a rubber coating instead of a braided line if you want a more subtle look.
For charging, beside my bed I have the Bestand 3 in 1 Qi Charger.
It charges my watch, AirPods and iPhone. It does require a multi USB port charger to power everything, so I use an Anker 40W, 5 port USB charger. This is perfect because I just have another long Anker PowerLine II cable going to the other side for my wife (she only has an iPhone).
I also carry a genuine Apple USB-C to Lightning cable and a Anker USB C Power Delivery 30W charger in my “Go Bag” just in case I need to quick charge my iPhone on the go.
I hope this helps!
I feel like I'm posting about USB too much here, but people keep asking because it's easy to get confused about it. I just copied the table I made a while ago in a comment and added FAQs and notes for outside the US.
I hope this answers what people are really looking for better than the other threads.
Do you have some specific need I didn't answer? Have a USB-C charger you're curious about that isn't listed? Ask in a comment. Just keep in mind that (other than the iPad one) USB-A chargers won't give you good speeds. This includes the chargers bundled with even the most recent phones by Samsung, Apple, Sony, LG, and HTC.
I'll use this comment to note some USB-C chargers I'm aware of but don't recommend:
---------
Charging speeds vary
These chargers can give the Switch great speeds sometimes, but usually they're closer to just "okay". It seems to be random every time you plug it in. If the Switch is completely turned off (not just in sleep) when you plug it in, you'll almost always get those "great" speeds for as long as you keep it plugged in even after turning the Switch back on and playing. This happens because Nintendo's implementation of USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is very buggy. They're a hassle to use right for now, so I don't recommend them, especially since there are better alternatives now.
Charger|Price (USD)|Link|Notes

Anker PowerPort+ 5|$39.99|Amazon|Use the USB-C port. It also offers 4 USB-A ports. No USB cables included.
RAVPower 26800mAh USB-PD battery|$79.99|Amazon|
UGREEN 30W USB-PD charger|$17.99|Amazon|No cable included.
----------
Safety issues
These don't damage the Switch, but they can damage other USB-C cables and devices, especially if you plug them in to something that doesn't make sense, like another charger. If you know how to use them right and you're careful, you won't damage anything, but why risk it? Get something else.

Great but expensive
If you have a USB-C laptop, feel free to get one of these, but otherwise don't bother. Plenty of chargers in my OP work just as well with Switch and are much cheaper.

Google 60W USB-C charger|$59.99|Google|Bundled with Chromebook Pixel 2, great for laptops, very long 12ft cable
Apple 61W USB-C charger|$69|Amazon, Apple|Bundled with 2016 13" MacBook Pro, no cable included when bought on its own. The 15-inch model's 87W charger is probably great too.
Apple 29W USB-C charger|$49|Amazon, Apple|Bundled with non-Pro MacBooks, no cable included when bought on its own. Poor speeds with most other non-Apple devices.
Innergie 45W USB-C charger|$59.99|Amazon|Works with the dock, great with laptops and phones too.
---------
Unconfirmed speeds (and expensive)
These chargers are also too expensive to recommend. They probably work great, but I haven't seen any reports of people actually trying any of them. They all probably work with the dock too. If anybody has one of these, please tell me if it works with the dock.

the sub is one of the most important parts in my opinion. especially for movies. i am a bit of a basshead and like a lot for my music too, but i think the sub is what makes or breaks the movie experience. having a sub that you can hear and feel the low rumble makes movies soo much better.
i would spend 40-50% on sub, get 2 towers and the receiver now, then just add in a center later. a center helps separate voices and what not, but it is not required, 2 decent towers will do that just fine.
for a sub, i have the svs pb1000 and it is amazing, this is a smaller version but would probably work great, especially at the $400 price. should be much better than any dayton sub.
https://www.amazon.com/SVS-SB12-NSD-400-watt-Controlled-Subwoofer/dp/B009F8Y7SO/ref=sr_1_3?
and for towers you mention ELAC, these Andrew Jones Pioneers are really good for the price and depending on which ELAC you looked at could be about the same thing, just less expensive. because Andrew Jones designed some of the ELAC ones more recently. so similar sound, the ELAC just look a little nicer.
I have bought 3 pairs of these towers though, they are just great for the price. for a starter set they are hard to beat.
https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SP-FS52-Designed-standing-Loudspeaker/dp/B008NCD2S4/ref=bdl_pop_ttl_B008NCD2S4
and you can get 2 of the pioneer towers & a receiver for $350 as a package deal. the speakers alone are $220 (and worth every single cent of that plus more) and you save about $50.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MZZTZQU/ref=twister_B01MXMETD0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
i recommend these speakers all the time, they are just great for the price.
>I can still see some nub marks, I think this is just cause I was lazy and didn't sand after removing the nub...
>1. I tried to do pencil shading but it doesn't look very good to me. Is it too light? I'm planning on going back over it again tonight. I'm using HB lead that I crush and a q-tip to apply. Would a beauty blender be better for applying it? The q-tip can be hard to control at times but I may just need more practice.
>2. I plan on using a clear matte top coat after I'm done shading/weathering before I put the decals on. Will matte be ok or should I use gloss? The final look I want is for it to be matte but I've read on here that decals adhere better to a glossy surface?
>3. After I spray the matte top coat will that degrade/reduce my shading? Basically, should I shade darker to compensate for top coat?
>4. If I spray a matte topcoat now then shade more and apply another matte topcoat will that have any difference visually compared to just shading darker now and applying one topcoat?

After spending a good portion of my weekend researching USB-C PD, Quickcharge, the effects of cable gauge on amperage, etc., I think I finally understand USB charging over USB A and USB C via both PD and QuickCharge.
Before my current HTC 10, which is a Quick Charge 3.0 device, I had a Pixel and, prior to that, a Nexus 5X. So my entire experience with USB C charging was via USB Power Delivery, which worked very well. USB C AC adapters and USB C-C cables always quick charged my devices, presumably at 15w(3a/5v). Whenever I used a different charger, usually a USB-A brick with an A-C cable, they charged around 10w(2a/5v) or 5w (1a/5v); i.e. normal USB charging speeds.
Quick Charge 3.0 over USB-C has thrown a bit of a wrench into that. From what I can tell, QC 3.0 tops out at 19.5w, but supports a range of voltages at 1.5a, 2a, and 3a to maximize charging speed and efficiency. QC3 is connector agnostic and should work over over USB A, C, and micro. QC3.0 over USB-C is not strictly within USB-C spec, but as long as it is implemented safely, does not seem to cause any issues.
However, what's really throwing me for a loop is this Anker product here and article #1 and article #2.
First, the Anker charger is a USB-C charger that simultaneously claims to be QC3.0 certified AND claims to deliver full charging speeds to the Nexus USB-C PD devices and warns that it will not quick charge the HTC 10 and LG G5, which are both QC3.0 devices. According to EVERYTHING I've stated and read, this should not be possible.
Also, the first article says that the HTC 10 is capable of charging via a standard USB C-C connection at 10w(2a/5v). Is this newsworthy? Is this truly USB-C Power Delivery? I was under the impression that PD defined power profiles from 3a-5a, up to 100watts. As far as I can tell, any device, power delivery or not, should be able to pull 2a if supported by the device and cable.
Finally, the second article states that the HTC 10 does pull 15w(3a/5v) over USB PD, but doesn't do so "well." Is this then proof that the HTC 10 does in fact fully support USB PD over proper chargers?
Any information that can help me sort all this out would be greatly appreciated. That said, I've purchased a USB-C amperage meter, have 3 different USB A-C cables, a mix of USB-A power adapters and plan to purchase some USB-C cables and chargers to test as well (sold my previous ones with my Nexus and Pixel devices.)
TV: 2013 Samsung F8000. Somebody returned this to Best Buy just two days after they bought it, and I managed to get it 30% off! Absolutely stunning picture.
Fronts: Martin Logan Motion 40s. I went to audition some bookshelves at Best Buy, and after the rep had me listen to these guys, I fell in love. I managed to find the pair for $1499 on eBay, free shipping. ML says 72 hours at 90dB to break in, but they already sound incredible. Though I need some help with positioning to get the best sound.
Subwoofer: SVS SB12-NSD Recommended here as a solid entry level sub. Sounds great so far (Though I don't have much to compare it to).
A/V Receiver: Marantz SR5007. Also recommended here as a good entry level receiver that'll allow me to build up to a 5.1 from the current 2.1. Bought refurbished for $499.
Another shot with the grills off
Honestly, I don’t think it’s really necessary. For charging, I use this portable charger to keep my phone and my boyfriend’s phone charged all four days. There’s a phone charging station in maplewoods if it runs out of juice so you have a backup option.
For lights, I just use these solar powered lights and they work great! Then I use a battery powered lantern for the camping table, another in the tent, and that’s more than enough light to be able to find everything in the dark. I also have a few solar stakes from the dollar tree that I put next to the tent lines so no one trips over the lines or stakes.
As for the speakers, I really don’t think that you need anything more than a small portable Bluetooth speaker anyway which doesn’t require much power and can just be charged at the phone charging station if necessary. I stayed in maplewoods last year and I loved how quiet and relaxing it was (my sis calls it the “retirement home of electric forest lol). I kinda think of it as the unofficial quiet camping option. If you’re looking to party after hours, the RV camp is like a two minute walk away. Of course, if you wanna have a big speaker setup, I’m sure no one will stop you, but maplewoods seems like the wrong campground to have it in bc not many people can get in, it’s generally super chill (I don’t remember anyone playing loud music after hours last year), and, again, the RV parties are right next door.
Happy (early) forest! You’ll love maplewoods, it’s honestly so great!
I received my Quest yesterday morning and have had quite a bit of time on it I have a Vive and had the Pro for a few days before I returned it. I am totally happy with it, games are better being tether less and the graphics are pretty good. One of the 10 games and experiences that I have played is notable Apex Construction. Totally cool game and well worth the $30 that it costs.
I did purchase a 10,000 mAh USB C Power Pack from Amazon and a 3 foot USB C to USB C cord. Nice thing also the 3 foot cable will also charge the quest and fits nice in my front pant pockets. USB output on the power supply is important and this one pushes 2.4 amps. When I'm playing while hooked to this thing my power level went from 15% to 25% in around 20 minutes.

I can easily get 7 hours of play time with this iphone 7 plus sized battery pack which is more than I'll play in a day.

I'm not going into the other responses but here is what I would look at if I were you.
AVR - Marantz 1607 $500 - slim line AVR since you want something smaller. Should have features than you will need.
Sub - SVS SB12-NDS $450 - Sealed, small, and a good price. This should really take care of the low end nicely.

Be mindful of what accessories you personally need. People needs are different. The only global accessories that seem to be useful to everyone:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V62XBQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Any other accessory should REALLY be considered on a need-to basis. Not everyone needs a pro controller (depending on the games you play, I've been fine without it with only BoTW, Mario Kart, Fate/Extella and Mario+Rabbids.), and not everyone needs an extra, improved stand/dock.
Finally, do some research on what games you will actually want to play. What I've seen is that games on the switch are NOT cheap, and unless you have extra disposable income, buying a game you don't really play can lower your overall appreciation of the system. Not only that, but because releases are sparse at the moment, it's easier to jump into the hype in order to keep using your shiny new hardware. Though that really applies to any console.
It sounds like you have not actually ordered yet, so here's a suggestion for Bluetooth earbuds:
Anker Soundbuds Slim are very similar to the ones you are looking at, but they support aptX HD (So they will sound better and have lower latency) and are cheaper. I have the Soundbuds Curve which feature a slightly different design. They are super comfortable and sound great, so I expect the Slims will work just as well. Lots of people recommend both styles in any thread asking for Bluetooth suggestions.
I really like this wall charger. Bluetooth headphones that charge via USB-C are basically non-existent, so this lets me charge the accessories while also charging my phone at full speed.
The Whitestone Dome is good, but they have awful customer service if you have any issues. Especially since you are going through a forwarder, taking weeks to get a resolution if you have an issue might be a deal breaker for you.
OK, let's clear up a few things here... First off, sure higher wattage in theory means faster. However, most USB PD phones will never charge faster than 18W (9V/2A) and very often they'll charge slower than that, you don't need a higher end charger unless you're gonna charge a laptop or a more demanding device.
Second, USB version spec doesn't matter at all for charging speed. The absolute fastest charge cables for 60W+ charging are often USB 2.0 because making a long one (6ft+) that's also USB 3.0 is physically impossible AFAIK, the lines used for charging differ from data lines. You just need 3A capable cables.
Those max wattage cables do require some e-markers that tell the device and charger they're good for 5A and the highest voltages, but again, you don't need that for a phone. Amazon Basics C to C cables are more than good enough for your purposes and you can have them cheap and in lengths from 6' to 6" and in black or white.
Don't overspend for charging cables (max speed data ones will run you more)... Those Amazon Basics ones run like $6-8 IIRC. Belkin, Anker, Veckle, etc do make stuff w/better strain reliefs and whatnot tho so if you're gonna beat on them shop around. If you need one for a laptop for high wattage charging the $20 Apple one is great.
Finally, there's a very simple reason that multi USB-C chargers are relatively rare... It's kind of a twofold reason, most people don't have a lot of USB-C devices and the USB-IF discourages manufacturers from rating chargers for X wattage if it can't supply it on all ports simultaneously. The gets tricky with high wattage obviously...
A lot of manufactures are still sort of misrepresenting things on that front by adding up the wattage of their USB-C and Type A port (which of course makes no sense and isn't of any use to you), but anyway. I think Aukey has a dual port car charger out but I haven't seen a review. Nathan K who's reviewed a ton of USB PD gear gave the OK to this Scosche tho.
They make a car one too, they're a little pricey IMO but there's not a lot to choose from. That being said, the OG Pixel and the 2 had an undocumented feature (not present on the 3) that allowed them to charge at 10-12W off Type A chargers with Apple-like signaling, so you could get away with a cheaper A + C charger like this for now.
Do note that the two Scosche ones whine great for phones would be pretty slow for charging something like a laptop, which is what a lot of the higher wattage chargers are geared for since USB PD is becoming common with laptops, standard on Chromebooks, etc.
The /r/UsbCHardware moderator team is at your service providing information on all USB C hardware, even in other subreddits. In other words, you can run but you can't hide :D
Anker, as mentioned, is a great choice, it's one of the trio we always recommend especially for cables (AmazonBasics-Monoprice-Anker), however to give you better advice, I'd need to know what wattage do you need from the PD port. If you only want to charge Pixel, may I recommend the Xiaomi Mi 60W Fast+QC+PD usb charger CDQ06ZM? Here's a test from a highly reputable test site. If you search aliexpress (or just google 32857580730) you can find it for just 25 USD which is a great price for this many ports on a quality charger. I won't link to avoid spamming.
Should you need to charge a laptop, https://smile.amazon.com/Certified-Charger-Nekteck-Delivery-Station/dp/B0712252ZQ has only three USB A ports (but you said you only needed three) and these three USB A ports are sharing 2.4A (the previous one had four sharing 4.8A plus a fifth completely standalone) however the USB C port is 60W, the charger is UL and USB IF certified and still < 30 USD.
Your panel lining looks really great, but if you want something that provides great results and is actually much easier, grab some Tamiya panel liner. It's pre-thinned enamel paint that you just tap on the panel line and watch it run down the line by itself. Then you just let it dry for about 10-15 minutes and rub away any excess with a q-tip and some lighter fluid. Makes panel lining much less of a chore.
Welcome to the community!
Edit: Forgot about top coating, I use matte top coats to give it a more realistic look. I apply it over both painted and unpainted kits, as it dulls the shine on unpainted kits as well as protects paint/decals. I've used several different brands at this point, and they all do about the same. Testors dullcote, Tamiya TS-80, and Mr Top coat all work well.
I hate researching power banks and chargers. I had decided on the Anker Powercore II 10K and Powerport Speed II but now I'm reconsidering.
Battery Packs: Anker Powercore II 10k(6.9oz) vs. Ravpower Slim 10k(6.8oz)
Ravpower is slightly lighter, and claimed charge time might be slightly faster at 3.5-4 hours compared to 4 hours on the anker. I also prefer the slim form factor.
Wall Chargers: Anker Powerport Speed II(4.6oz) vs. Aukey Dual Port Turbo Charger(4.09oz)
Aukey seems like an equally capable charger but half an ounce lighter.
I might be overthinking it, but the above Anker products are probably the most recommended around here so I want to make sure I'm not missing something.
Other suggestions are welcome to of course.
And while I'm here, anyone have a good source for short cables? Ideal would be in the 6"-12" range that support up to 18w. Need USB A to USB C, and USB A to Micro USB.
You already got a very vague answer and a very technical answer, so I'll try to split the difference and just talk about functionality:
The main difference between a cheap charger and an expensive one will be power/charging speed. Many modern cell phones have various forms of "quick charging" technology, and cheap chargers will not support that. They usually push out less current in general, due to the cheaper components. Enough to charge a phone, but only slowly, and cheap chargers can't charge things like newer USB-C powered laptops or Nintendo Switches at all. Not enough power.
Beyond that, "build quality" may differ, but that's a pretty nebulous concept. Most USB chargers are just some electrical components wrapped in a plastic shell, so there shouldn't be a lot of mechanical difference between them, to the extent that it would cause one to fall apart before another.
Design and features might be different. For $30 ($23, actually, at time of writing), you can get a charger with multiple ports and a detachable power cable (gives better access to the ports doesn't block power outlets). Those can be useful additions.
Voltage fluctuation is not something I'd worry about. Modern electronics can deal with a lot of variation on the charging input. I've never heard of a cell phone being harmed in any way by minor fluctuations in voltage from the charger.
Waste heat could be an issue. Generally, a more expensive charger, from a more reputable brand, will be more likely to be tested thoroughly and less likely to produce more heat than is safe. It's definitely not a common thing for USB chargers at any price range to overheat to a dangerous degree, but if any one were going to, it would be a too-cheap-to-be-true no-name gas station one.
Overall, I think a charger is something you can afford to be frugal with, as long as you're fine with very slow charging. Just check that your bargain basement charger doesn't get uncomfortably hot after a charging session.
On the other hand, if charging your phone as quickly as it's capable of is important to you, you're going to want to stick to the OEM charger that came in the box, or a splurge on a third party charger that is highly rated.
Start with a refurbished home theater receiver, this is an authorized dealer and you get a warranty: http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/denavrx1300w/denon-avr-x1300w-7.2-ch-x-80-watts-networking-a/v-receiver/1.html
The X1300 is a great entry level unit and checks all your boxes.
You have $900 left for speakers. I'd recommend a pair of bookshelves and a sub.
Here is a very good sub on closeout right now, it out performs the newer and pricier SB-1000 and would be a great in an apartment because it's smaller and not going to be too loud for neighbors: SVS SB12-NSD - 12", 400-watt DSP Controlled, Sealed Box Subwoofer (Black Ash) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009F8Y7SO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kDK7ybQCR0NPN
With $500 left for speakers and misc., I would recommend the new Wharfedale Diamond 225. These have a great balanced sound that leans slightly warmer. They would work very well for music and movies and will integrate with that sub perfectly. Another option would be the new Klipsch RP-160M. They have gotten a lot of buzz lately and seem to avoid the old harsh Klipsch sound of yore. Both of these are available at Best Buy Magnolia so if you have one, go have a listen. BB does have a 15 day return policy and you could order both and send back the loser as well.
For speaker cable, I would suggest 14awg wire from Monoprice, you will also need HDMI and any optical/coaxial/RCA for your sources. Sanus makes good speaker stands, something around 18-24" tall should put the tweeters at ear level for you.
Hope this helps, and obviously just one of many options but I think this would be a fantastic start for you. Later on add a matching center, and then some surrounds and you have a nice home theater.
Links that I removed out of caution of triggering automod:
> Wireless Charging - Great as well. 10w charging via Qi, quickcharge 3.0 compatible chargers. I bought this one to go with it. It's not like the slow shitty Qi charging that came with the Nexus 5 (I had it and can attest it was pretty bad, even the magnetic charger you had to buy separately).
The charger I bought, but mine came with the power adapter; currently $13 with a code found on slickdeals
> Case - I'm a case guy, so as a case guy, I did case guy things. Like waiting for my case to arrive before taking my phone into the scary outside world. I decided to splurge and this is the one I bought as Spigen Tough Armor XP. This case goes on perfectly and feels like it could survive any drop. I was deciding between the slimmer cases (neohybrid, rugged armor, etc), but I'm glad I went with this tough boi. It doesn't add too much to the thickness either. It's still way more pocketable than the 6p lol. It also doesn't interefere with my wireless charging, which is fantastic.
Case I bought
Yes, on your "just a thought". It strikes me as pretty whacky that a guy who says he's happy with his smart phone except for battery life gets all these recommendations for cameras that are geared towards making better pictures and which generally are also geared towards people who enjoy spending more time thinking about photography and taking pictures.
Seems to me the Anker smart phone battery charger is potentially a much better solution, and at the very least a dirt-cheap option to try before spending a lot of cash on a much more expensive and much-heavier camera. With that idea in mind, I'd suggest that even the 10000 mAh model may be overkill, I would look at something like Ankers 5000 Powercore model ( https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-Fast-Charging-Technology/dp/B01CU1EC6Y ) or even one of the 3300's.
A regular USB-C power bank at 15W won't keep up with a lot of use cases of the laptop. It'll charge the laptop while asleep. Otherwise it'll hold the line or slow down battery drain more often than charge while you use.
No power bank currently on the market will match the power needs a 15-inch laptop with a 90W power adapter has. The upcoming HyperJuice will, as it outputs up to 100W. But it is not released, expensive, and untested by third parties so I wouldn't rush into that.
Your best option right now is a 45W output power bank. They work well with 13-inch laptops, charging while in use. They are still 15W shy of ideal for a 15-inch laptop, but better than any other option. They'll charge while in use under more conditions, but not all conditions. They'll charge fast enough when the laptop is asleep.
I would recommend looking at two specific power banks:
dodocool 20100 45W Type-C PD
ZMI QB820
For efficiency try one of two charge approaches and see which works better for you.
> I read good reviews about Logitech keyboard but it maybe too thick to I went w The official Apple one.
I have the Smart Keyboard and the Brydge keyboard. I like the Brydge at home but usually, switch back to the Smart Keyboard when on the road.

Either on the side of the iPad or in a bag with some other tech pieces (cables and chargers).

Nope - but I also usually have a window seat and can angle the device more towards the corner if there's an issue. But I'm not working on anything top secret and if someone really wants to watch a film over my shoulder without audio then that's fine.

I personally have and use this Satechi charger though the more powerful port is meant for my laptop (I can and have charged my iPad through it though).

I have an Aukey Powerbank which is 10000mAh and a ZMI one which is 20,000mAh - which one I take depends on the trip.
Be careful not so much for the snow while driving, but the ice. Especially the ice that forms at intersections -after- the snow plows have come through. Seems like they put a Zamboni like shine to the intersections. AWD and ABS won't really help you to stop. So approach intersections slowly.
About your AWD. I don't think you'll need true "snow tires", but check that you have all-season tires.
If heavy snow is forecast, top off your gasoline and your cell phone battery. Kinda like the folks saying to bring extra gloves and such in your car, wouldn't hurt to get a small portable USB charger, like one of these https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B01CU1EC6Y
[Not an endorsement. Just that or something like that]
I have that pioneer and it's decent for how cheap it is but I have read some impressive things about the Dayton, so I would probably go for that. Although it's fucking massive! Or the Martin Logan 300 if you can find it.
BUT, if you have the means to up your budget, you can just make one sub purchase now and not have to think about it for hopefully many years to come. No sense in dropping 200 now and another 250 or 300 in a few years if you can get toward endgame now. Most subs in this range only talk about home theater because they aren't very articulate for music. I've read debates but many say that sealed is best for music and ported is best for pure power and earth shake.
This SVS is on sale for $400, and could be gone in the next day or so. Massive range, sealed, badass. 12 inches. I said fuck it and tossed it on the CC. I'm now set for the rest of my 20s at least haha. And it's only around 14x14x14 @35 lbs!!!! Smaller AND lighter than the Dayton!

Mine was a day one purchase and I'm only starting to look at replacing the battery now. The process seems easy but first you need to find a new battery and that's not so easy... well, we'll see.
I travel quite intensively and my flights are usually between 4 to 10 hours.
I don't have any issue with the vita's battery as it is as I don't use BT and always put the plane mode when needed and of course make sure that when that I have less than 50% left, I charge it.
Also, if I may suggest, buy this. It's really neat. It can give you two more charges and it's small enough to fit in a travel bag / backpack.
I would say go for the first gen and enjoy. I don't plan to upgrade to the 2000 simply because I like my Vita as it is. We'll see for the next model which will be released in 18 months :)
I always like Anker chargers. They make really good ones that have smart voltage systems in them that can up the amps depending on how much the devices draws. They also have a new Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger if needed.
I just hope the previously linked 5 port charger gets updated with quick charge support.
As for anything USB-C related look at the reviews of Benson Leung, he is a google employee who does some great reviews testing cables and other items to make sure they follow usb-c spec and they actually work well.
Here's my OnePlus One 64gb version in its case, tempered glass screen protector, and Qi receiver.
Everything works fine. The glass catching fingerprints still, though not as easily as the screen did. Edges weren't done great so I imagine they'll collect dust.
The case fits well and even allows for my Pressy unit (which is compatible) to be inserted without any flushness issues. Honestly fits it like a glove.
I'm using a microUSB "B" style Qi receiver to charge. On my TYLT unit, I can have the phone vertical or horizontal and it'll charge still.
I included a photo of all the packaging so you know what brands I bought. If you want to know the specific vendor I bought (and not shop on your own.. I was in a hurry so I paid a premium on all of them, at least 25% over what I could have gotten them if I had the time to wait).

TYLT Wireless Charger
EDIT: Charging Update!
At 25% charge, I put the phone on my TYLT dock from 12AM-5:30AM; phone was fully charged by the time I woke up! So yes, the charging is at least fast enough to fully charge my phone.
EDIT 2: 2nd Day Charging
At 14% charge, I put the phone to charge at around 11:30PM. At 5:30AM the next day, the phone seemed to have overheated at 76% and had stopped charging. Battery temp showed the phone was overheating at a ghastly 49 Degrees C! I will try one more night to see if it was just a fluke. Anyone want to buy me a new battery? Ha.
EDIT 3: 3rd Day Charging
At 53% charge, went up to 100% overnight. I made sure the receiver was right in the center of the TYLT dock to avoid poor connection.
In the afternoon I hit 17% because the phone was being ridiculous. Put it in the dock vertically without giving it much attention. Went up to 38% in 90 minutes, but the phone was pretty hot. Will charge the rest. If no new edits appear, it means I've stopped having issues with charging.
EDIT 4: ?? 7/15/14 Update
For those of you who want to use the TYLT to charge, be careful. My phone repeatedly overheats using this, going as high as 43C. Some research today shows it may be due to the metal in the phone activating ALL the coils, causing the phone to roast. I will try this official post by TYLT tonight to see if that helps. I have also installed this app from Google Play to monitor my battery and make sure the temperatures don't go too high during my testing, as I don't want to completely destroy my phone's battery in the first month. More reading on the heating issues here
EDIT 5: 7/16/14 Update
I added a block that's 1/2" tall to the bottom of my TYLT unit and then set my phone on top. Additionally, I removed 'High Accuracy' mode on the GPS to Battery Saving and disabled data (because those also generate heat inside the phone). Doing this, my phone never exceeded 38C. Charging overnight, when I awoke my phone was sitting at 100% charge idling at 36.5C, perfectly acceptable!
Tonight I will try to charge using the bottom wedge but leaving Data and High Accuracy on. I have installed Battery Temperature Guard to play an alarm if temperatures exceed 40C (still acceptable as you can reach this while gaming, but I don't want to have my phone sitting at that temp for 4-5+ hours!)
Possible items to use as 'blocks':
EDIT 6: 7/23/14 Update
So it seems sometimes I can charge without any issues, other times the phone will charge very slowly. I've experimented with height positioning with the block mount to lift the phone, it seems anything from 2cm-3/4" will prevent the phone from heating. While charging I do not exceed 36C.
I've also pulled the receiver out just a little so that I can pull the microUSB out of the port in case I need to charge via cable or connect to the computer. Time will tell if that will damage the cable, but for now it looks like it's fine.
11/17/14 Update:
If you're visiting here still, please note I have STOPPED using a Qi charger in lieu of an actual dock with microUSB connector. The charger worked, yes, but my phone was constantly warm, resulting in shorter battery life on a regular basis. Since removing it, my phone has been cool to the touch, and keeps its charge longer throughout the day.
I have these two chargers and use it to light my Light FX figures: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015P2QSN0
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NWMI07S
You'll need a wall adapter of course, as they do not come with one. They do come with a USB cable, but have short length (3 feet).
I've tried other USB wireless chargers and most I tried don't work. I think they are looking specifically for phone RFID or something. I can only recommend the two above (even ones by the same brand but different shape don't work, I've tried!). If you do buy one of those, please let me know if they ended up working.
Note that I notice subtle pulsing with the wireless phone chargers. It's not nearly as bad as using the store kiosk or running 1.0, though (I don't experience the same issues you have with the figure in the box on a base running 3.0, full bright and pretty solid). If the slow pulsing were a 1, and constantly on is a 10, I would rate the DI base running 3.0 at a 9, Skylanders portal at a 9, and wireless phone chargers I have at a 7. I kind of like fast pulsing of the wireless chargers though, as it looks lightsabery (especially on Yoda, who is the brightest of the bunch).

Are there any alternatives to the thinner that I can use that are sold locally?
My real questions come with the step process of the enamel wash. I've been looking at multiple guides and reddit post and they differ. From what I've come to understand the step are as follows:
1)Before panel lining, apply a top coat.
2)enamel wash
3)Cotton swab and thinner
4)Final top coat, if I'm done building.
For my top coat I'm planning on using Matte Top coat. So if I'm using these materials, I would spray the part with the top coat, then I would apply the panel lines with the Tamiya panel line product, using the thinner I would carefully and gently clean the blobs that are outside of the panel lines. After I'm all done, I would spray one final top coat.
If I'm using these exact same materials does my coat before panel washing have to be different than my top coat when I'm done building?
I'm not planning on painting the kits any time soon.(Underlined text are the questions)
Sorry for the lengthy post and thanks for your help!
However, for the T490, in benefit of having USB-C charging port, you could utilize an external battery pack to charge up the laptop on the go.
There are an assortment of battery packs out there with high capacity and high output to be able to charge the T490 multiple times over. As well as if needed, can charge during use. While the battery packs may not be able to create net-positive charging, it will extend the laptop usage time at least twice over. Especially if you arent utilizing the dedicated graphics.
Here is a couple battery banks you could look at:
Here is a video Linus did about a battery pack used on a Razer Stealth Pro while gaming. (You will experience FAR better battery performance in comparison):
In my opinion, I prefer to have a sleek and slim laptop, with the OPTION to have extended battery life with a battery pack. Lenovo did have the neat design to have an internal battery, and a swappable battery slot so you could swap on the fly, but that required that you had to charge each battery IN the laptop seperately for each battery you have. Here, you can charge it outside, and use if for multiple different devices when needed! A win win in my books!
This is the one i got, purely because it had good reviews and was the biggest I could find:
LG G4 Battery Case, ZeroLemon LG G4 8500mAh TriCell Extended Battery + Soft TPU Full Edge Protection Case (Compatible with all LG G4 variants) (4897010519648) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01181ODJI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_7-Qwyb67383AC
There are however some other alternatives if you don't like the price or bulkiness of the zerolemon;
PowerBear LG G4 Extended Battery [6500mAh] & Back Cover & Protective Case (Up to 2.15X Extra Battery Power) - Black [24 Month Warranty & Screen Protector Included] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZMLOHBA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_BaRwyb00TWPHF
Kranich Only Fits for LG G4 BL-51YF 8200mAh Extended Battery Replacement with Specialized TPU Protective Cover Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DM6XV2M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wbRwybGASC54Y
And another thing, it's not widely stated but the LG G4 supports quickcharge/fastcharge so it's totally worth every penny to scoop up a quickcharger if you don't have one. I like the company Anker as I've been using them for years.
Anker Quick Charge 3.0 39W Dual USB Wall Charger, PowerPort Speed 2 for Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4 and PowerIQ for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, LG, Nexus, HTC and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IUSYF8G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LdRwyb94QRH6K
There are some other anker quickchargers as well if you only want 1 USB socket or if you want something like 8. And they vary from quickcharge 1.0 to 3.0 which is pretty much just different charge speeds.
> Dell make a laptop charger with built in battery bank and 2 usb out, power companion I think, but would it work with your laptop?
My wife actually has one of those, but unfortunately, it isn't high enough wattage. :/
> Kindle, Chromecast, headphones (depending on type) dont need a lot of charge or even to be charged very often so charge from laptop as and when your doing your work.
All true! In fact, the Thinkpad even does higher-voltage fast charging on one of its USB A ports, plus its second USB C port is capable of (as I recall) 15W PD, so I can rapidly charge my phone off its second USB C port.
That's definitely a great solution for the hotel room, although it does mean that my laptop needs to be on my night stand. But for day trips, I was hoping to just bring the "one charger" for phones as well.
I actually ended up going with the Nektech because it's USB-IF certified, has 3 USB A ports, and a USB C port with a power profile I believe will be enough for my laptop.
Tamiya Accent is actually jars of very very thin enamel. If you're planning on doing more than a few models a year, I'd take the plunge and get an entire set. It's easier to get a more natural and consistent look with fluid than with the markers. The grey is for white/very light colors, black for darker blue/green/greys, and browns for red/yellows.
This tutorial does a good job of explaining how it works, but I'll try to paraphrase.
The method is quite different from the markers. You definitely need a thick, gloss base (non-enamel!) of paint or clear coat, otherwise the thinner in the accent fluid will eat through the plastic. You simply take the little brush attached to the cap and drip a tiny amount of into panel and seam lines. Then you dab up the excess, let it dry, and clean up with lighter fluid (not alcohol or lacquer thinner).
Hope this clears it up a bit.
A Redditor PM'd me a link (Don't wanna call you out - Yell if you want public credit for it) to This Previous thread saying that the ZMI QB820 can power a switch dock. It's currently available on Amazon US for $69.95 (Complete with the seller confirming Switch Dock compatibility.
Amazon won't ship lithium to the UK, but can get it from GearBeast for £41.69 in a flash sale for the next 24 hours.
I'd prefer the razor pack, but it's three times the price, out of stock in the UK, and doesn't have confirmed Switch dock use out in the wild. Likewise, a power pack with standard outlets would definitely work, and give more flexibility for other uses, but they're still more expensive and a lot bigger and heavier.
Unless you fine redditors know a reason not to trust ZMI Kit, I think this is the one to go for. Hoping to order the TV, Battery, Hotspot, and simcard this week - Happy to report back on what does/doesn't work with that setup.
That's a good quality battery. That'll more than double the stock capacity. The beautiful thing about spare and extended batteries is that you can really expect double the battery life. If you use something like a 10,000 mAh power pack for say a 30,00 mAh phone, you're not going to get 3+ extra charges due to heat and various charging inefficiencies. For really high quality power banks and high end Flagships I usually get about 70% of the power bank's capacity in "extra charge". With extended batteries it's like an OEM built a phone with that size of a battery. Have you been using the one stock battery that came with your V10 as you would a phone with a sealed battery (charging it via an AC adaptor)? If so just a new stock capacity battery would drastically improve battery by itself, I obviously recommend getting multiple spares and or an extended battery though. As for the fastest charging battery bank, there's no real Bible on that. Generally speaking you want something that's USB C PD compliant if you're fast charging a Pixel or 2017 iPhone, and Quick Charge 3.0 support for other Flagships. Most of the time the USB C port is pulling double duty for both standards. It also doesn't hurt to see if Benson Leung has given the charger his golden seal of approval. He's a fairly reliable guru who who knows the USB C spec inside and out. He has been wrong in the past, but generally speaking he's extremely reliable. Marketplace reviews can also be a good indicator, just look for verified purchases and see what they actually take umbrage with. I personally use an Aukey 30,000 mAh power bank with Quick Charge 3.0 and 30W USB C PD. I've tested it with power gauges it and it works really well. It'll charge all of my Quick Charge 3.0/2.0 devices at full speed, and it can charge my iPhone X and iPad Pro 12.9 (2017) at full speed. It can keep a Nintendon Switch topped off during use, and rapid charge it when it's idle. It can also charge a 12" MacBook fairly reliably. It's Overkill for a V10 but I recommend it. I have 2 of them, and bought them when they were $80 a piece. I've seen them a little lower than what they're currently going for, but they're worth every penny. To my knowledge it's the largest capacity power bank with this many power user features. Here's a link : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01F8IRIN0/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527167420&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=aukey+30000mah+usb-c+portable+charger&dpPl=1&dpID=31T63ZNoF6L&ref=plSrch.
TYLT Vu
Expensive, but solidly built and stylish. Wish the angle was a little but sleeper, but it's still pretty nice to see my phones display at a decent angle.
RAVPower Qi Charger/Portable Batter
Also kind of pricey, but worth it because it's useful and practical.
Awesome - thanks so much for your help + the follow up!
Great photo reference :)
Yeah heading to Tokyo, so on a long flight + trains throughout the trip - but trying to keep things light / somewhat minimal, thus leaning the QB820 for flexability + usb hub etc... but it is a close call! As I wont be using the power bank the full flight time - (10ish hrs) I think the 20,000 should do the job + will be able to recharge it at the hotel on arrival etc...
On the topic of recharging, I prefer black / darker stylings - do you have any black/dark wall AC usb PD chargers that would work well with the QB820 ?
Also - would this adapters USB C power outlet work to fast charge back up the QB820 ?
https://www.amazon.com/Lightbeam-Worldwide-Universal-International-Countries/dp/B07CZXC2QQ/
( Bit confused on what specs I need a wall AC / charger to have to enable fast re-charging of the power banks)
thanks again for the help / info!
EDIT: Or would this be better for travel + recharging the powerbank via usb C ?

If you didn't, I would order brydge first, and then the google keyboard at a later date if so desired.
Accesories, I have quite a few pens that work with slate..
Here are some active pens compatible with Eve (or other wacom aes devices like many Windows 10 laptops)
Wacom Bamboo ink

I also ordered this skin https://tinyurl.com/y29xwqx4
and I bought this charger when I first got my pixelbook for fast charging even while in the car :)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075WQQG7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TzU7Cb7ZFP3TR
I also got this sweet dongle for about 40 bucks! Would definitely recommend getting one like it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X9DGV4X/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also ordered these pen loops and stuck one to the back of the brydge keyboard.
https://www.amazon.com/MARCHONE-Adhesive-Designed-Notebooks-Journals/dp/B07FJMCK12/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=pen+loop&qid=1559199857&s=electronics&sr=1-3
Ah gotcha, but in the case like the Choetech where the charger only has one C port and no A ports, the QC branding should be a non issue?
Thanks for doing this! With USB-C being the future, your work, along with Bensons's, is extremely important for the future of the standard.
Edit: it appears choetech may have used old housings for this model which includes the QC stamp. I amy request an exchange to be safe.
I may contact amazon and Choetech anyway and request a refund just to be safe.
I can't speak on how it will hold up in the long-term, or if it will degrade the battery life of my phone more quickly, but it charges at much higher throughput for its weight than for any of the 20ish chargers I tested, with the exception of the Moto TurboPower 30Watt, which charged my Motorola TurboPower Pack @ 28 Watts from 0% to about 30% before dropping down to 15Watts until 80%, and then trickle charged. I measured power usage using a "Kill A Watt" device and far too much time.
The Anker Devices I tested seemed to only deliver at around 6-8 Watts of charging throughput for my phone. Given that I'm using a Motorola, it uses a "TurboCharger" spec and doesn't use the QC3.0 spec, so I'm not sure if the Anker Devices avoided charging at higher power rating because they are true to QC3.0 communication protocol, or because of some other reason.
The other charger that I found to work quite well for the weight was this one. I can't find my notes, but think it was around 0.9 oz to 1.2 oz. Because I wanted my charger to charge both the battery and the phone simultaneously, and didn't want to rely on two outlets, I went for the Lyilin charger.
I'm super happy with my phone + charger setup right now (Moto Z Play w/ Moto TurboPower Pack), which loses around 10% per day in airplane mode with pretty frequent topographic map checking (turning the phone off at night fucks this up unless you decouple the battery). The Moto PowerPack effectively brings the battery capacity to 180%, and when simultaneously charging the PowerPack and the phone, I can get to 80% on the phone and 80% on the battery in about 30 minutes. So, I'm pretty sure I can get about 10-12 days of more-than just navigation phone use out of this setup while backpacking before charging, which can be done in less than the amount of time it takes me to resupply. This means I get a very solid kindle device or music device out of my phone if I so choose.
The other reason I settled on my phone + battery combo is that I wear pants, so I just drop my phone in my side pocket for easy access for navigation, photos, etc. As a worn item, I never need to feel the weight from an external battery.
I have one of these on my desk:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VH8ZW02/
Which is quite similar to what you linked to, but a bit less powerful, 40W. (5v8A)
Yours is 60W (5v12A).
At all times, mine is powering a Pi3 running OwnCloud (which is powering a magnetic disk drive off its USB port). I also use it to charge my phone, power several other single board computers, charge batteries, etc. It works perfectly, and would even say that everyone who tinkers should have one of these. Works great!
In all seriousness, fine point Gundam Marker is a great start. It is not the best solution, but you have very low chance of messing it up and it is easily cleaned.
Alternatively, you can try pour type markers which can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol. The ink is runnier so you can just dab a bit on the line and the ink will run along.
My personally favorite is Tamiya Panel Line Accent. It works like pour type marker but much better. It can be corrosive is overused (by that I mean dipping the entire piece in it) but I have applied it over several dozens kits and never had any problem with it.
I recently graduated law school and built a home office setup for around $600 (my law firm has a good work from home policy). Details below:

Desk - DlandHome L-Shaped Desk - $130
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0798JW7FD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The L-shaped desk contains plenty of space for my dual monitor setup and has plenty of extra space on the sides. It was very easy to assemble (unlike some IKEA desks) and ships in a manageable flat box. I keep it in the corner of my room and it is very sturdy and doesn't shake.

Chair - AmazonBasics Office Chair -$50
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D7P5BFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Cheap and comfortable.

Monitors - 2x HP 23.8 in Monitors - 2x $110
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072M34RQC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
These can rotate both horizontally and vertically, which makes them perfect for work. Also VESA compatible. The quality of these are pretty good, but I only use them for word processing and web browsing. Not sure how good they are for movies or gaming.

Laptop Dock - Dell Universal Dock - $130
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071YTQBXM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Compatible with any laptop with a USB-C port. It charges the laptop as well while plugged in. It works with my work laptop without installing any additional drivers. Supports 2x DP and 1x HDMI. You might need to buy additional DisplayPort to HDMI cables depending on the monitors you use.

Accessories
Logitech K840 Mechanical Keyboard - $60
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071VHYZ62/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If anyone requests, I can upload a picture when I get home tonight. Also feel free to ask any questions.
I’m a huge Anker fan, they have really well made products at amazing prices.
I’m using 2 of these, one on my desk and one in the living room. I love how they’re vertical; I have it positioned on my desk in a way that unlocks my face without me having to grab the phone, so I can tap my phone and quickly read my notifications when it unlocks using my face, and only lift it if i need to respond
For my bedside table, I have this one, which is a lot cheaper but slower charge. It’s okay though because I put it there before bed when going to sleep and don’t need a fast charge or anything.
But one of each is really all you want and you’ll have a great set up, and its still cheaper than buying a single Samsung or Belkin wireless charger
hey /u/psychojunglecat3 , /u/vv0rm , and /u/kananjarrus
i got a response from anker...
First of all, let me thank you for your great support to Anker products. To your requirement, we would recommend below wall charger model for you, and you could use the blue QC port to recharge our PowerCore II 10000, and you will still have other 3 Power IQ port to charge your other devices:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charge-Charger-PowerPort-PowerIQ/dp/B01N2HIR9R/ref=sr_1_11?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1495091165&sr=1-11&keywords=Anker+wall+charger
If two output ports are enough for your needs, you may also consider below model:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charge-Charger-PowerPort-PowerIQ/dp/B01IUSYF8G/ref=sr_1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1495091165&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=Anker+wall+charger&psc=1
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further concerns. Thank you!*
those Arenas should give you plenty loud, I can make my Martin Logan bookshelf speakers fill the house.
https://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-F12-475-Watt-Subwoofer/dp/B0015A8Y5M this sub goes deeper (with good volume) than any in its price range and many people speak highly of it. I don't know much about the 2 subs you are looking at but most subs like these have a significant fall off in volume at lower frequencies and anything under 10" is gonna feel pretty weak out side of a limited sweet spot.
I just got this https://www.amazon.com/SVS-SB12-NSD-400-watt-Controlled-Subwoofer/dp/B009F8Y7SO and couldn't be happier, it used to sell for around $600 but new versions have come out. The BIC I linked or any ported unit from SVS and HSU will typically give more volume than the sealed sub I chose which would be to your liking. The SVS and HSU are kind of considered entry level "enthusiast" subs and they are better than the BIC, but if you like house pounding sound The BIC will get you there.
You didn't really spec much, but if you want "best play" and "20hz min response", then try to get one of these SVS SB12-NSDs. Pretty much nothing except possibly DIY can touch it for less money.
If you want to spend less, there is the BIC PLII-200, the BIC F12, the Dayton Audio SUB-800, SUB-1000, and SUB-1200. But the SVS has highpassed outputs.
Buy the Hero4 to future proof yourself a bit more. Another GoPro won't be coming out for awhile and when it finally does, it will only be marginally better than the 4 while much better than the 3+. So far the screen has been great, just take care of it and keep it protected as often as possible. I just received these in the mail also:

Double reply so you get a notification about this.
Using an old car charger (2.4A) with a proper USB-A -> USB-C 3.0 cable (this one https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6F3WHG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) charged my phone from 60% to 100% in roughly 1 hour. The phone never said "charging rapidly" either, so you're not getting Power Delivery with that. I am buying a proper USB-C car charger later this week, I can DM you with an update on that.
Edit: Adding this as well in case someone else is looking for this info, but this what I dm'd OP:
Alright so I bought this cable: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6G0CTQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this car charger https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B079MWXSS8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They both work great, fast charging and everything.
For what it's worth, this is also a good power bank: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B079Z4RHZZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
if you buy one with at least 2 coils its not much of an issue, however those were sparse during note 5 days or at least were premium priced. Now there are all kinds of good cheapos.
I bought this one and it works fine
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Seneo-Charging-Standard-8Plus-NO/dp/B01M0IL0QX/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1523331385&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=seneo+wireless+charger&psc=1
But I will say wireless charging is pretty darn slow if you don't have quick charge enabled, But QC 2.0 on my S7e was pretty nice with this charger and kept a good charging pace.
The XL gets pretty good battery life. I average about 7-8 hours of play and 3 days in standby.
The only extended XL battery I've seen is the Mugen, which is both unnecessarily expensive and bulky. I'd say you're better off buying an USB charging cable and a portable USB battery pack if you really need more play time. I travel around with two PS Portable Chargers. They are small, very light, work very well for my HTC One, 3DS XL and PS Vita.
I can vouch for this one and this one
I got the Qi Infinity charger as a trial after trying a cheap one that worked fine but wouldn't keep my device in place. I wanted one I could use at my desk at work and be able to see the screen without it laying down. Works great with my s5, N7 and also was tested with a N5.
The second one I got because the first one wasn't in stock when I went to purchase another and I was impatient. I actually got the first one for about 30 bucks, and you might be able to find it closer to that price somewhere.
Both work great and I would recommend each.
I bought one of these and have been fairly impressed with it. The first one I got would just power itself down every 15 min or so, so I exchanged it. The second one has been good (one stuck pixel but I don't mind).
The all-metal case is good without much flex. The IO is pretty solid, with two USB-C ports, one USB A 2.0 port, MicroSD, and of course its own small barrel port for the power brick, but you can also optionally charge it over USB-C including with one of those breakout USB-C hubs with Power Delivery and that simultaneously gives you HDMI out, Ethernet, and such (I do this currently using this USB-C PD charger and this hub. There are cheaper USB-C hubs but I wanted one with HDMI and Ethernet output as well as Power Delivery input so I could plug everything in with the one cable).
The keyboard is decent and the layout is right to me, although it's not backlit. The touchpad is basically garbage but I don't mind since I use an external trackball. The screen is IPS and glossy glass with sharp text, but coming from a MacBook or my PowerSpec 1510 laptop, it's rather dim with low contrast. The speed of the machine is fantastic for the price, and the SSD can be easily changed out but I don't know about the RAM. There's no compartment to open just for that and I don't know how to get to it otherwise. (I may never actually need to, but I did look into it when I got it.)
The touchscreen works, but I disabled it because I wanted it to still work with the lid closed and plugged in over HDMI, and when I would close the lid it started clicking spots all over the screen. After disabling the touch screen input driver in Device Manager, no more issues with that. I don't really know what the battery life is like because I mostly will plan on keeping this plugged in. No bloatware at all. You get prompted to buy/install ESET antivirus when you boot, and if you choose no, it will uninstall even that, leaving you with a 100% clean OS with just drivers and a Winbook wallpaper.
You can probably run some form of Linux on this fine, although I've got no idea whether things like the touchscreen, sleep or the battery meter work. The wireless chipset is Intel and the sound is Realtek so I imagine those are fine but don't know for sure.
I have several of these, my husband has 2 of them, and like 5 of my friends have purchased the exact same one on my recommendation. Have been using them nonstop since the X came out. Perfect angle for FaceID. I have them on my desks at home and work, and on my nightstand. Cheap and work perfectly.

Maybe, but I would recommend the Anker anyway. I trust them not to burst into flames when placed under a continuous load. Anker does have a different model with the plug rotated 90 degrees that might fit your outlet better, but it is also more than twice the cost.
Also, a cheap, noisy power supply coupled with cheap speakers without filtering might end up yielding you a lot more noise.
Lets add the first car charger to the list. PD 12v up to 3a by Nektek.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WQQG7C/
Tested today. Is able to charge while playing Hand of Fate 2, but only gained about 4% in 40 minutes.
Set power settings to best performance, backlight at 50%, turned of sleep mode, and charged on the desktop for an hour and it charged about 23%
Did not test charging while in sleep or turned off, but it should charge pretty quickly.
Since everyone else is telling you it isn't possible, I'm just gonna recommend an actual wireless charger. TYLT VU. Looks great on my desk and any time my phone isn't in my hand, it's on the charger. Bonus that the stand is tilted and I can see notifications at a glance. Haven't plugged my N6 in once since I got it. I can confirm the black and red colors look great in person.
This charger, with this cable. You can get the single port version, but for the price at the time ($18) I bought the double. The cables are awesome for the price though.
I can run both wifi's and Ethernet w/o the battery perfectly stable. No reboots for the last 6-7 weeks since.
Found this gem on Amazon and I'm quite happy with it: Anker 40W/8A 5-Port USB Charger
I'm sure the power isn't super clean but it seems to power on one RPi 3 running tasks as well as a few RPi Bs quite nicely.
I'd like to hunt for something with more power and more ports instead of getting more of these USB power hubs.
I was looking to buy one for my brother who just got a new S6. Usually I stick with OEM products, but these third party ones received very good reviews. Any recommendations?

ninja edit: I'll also add that he uses a slim case and to be honest I'd rather use a non-fast charging cable if that means the phone won't get as hot.
I mostly use the Apple Pencil with Notability or LiquidText. I use Goodnotes a little. Some of my professors use Google Drive, so I need to use those apps from time to time. I also like Outlook for email, iBooks and Kindle Reader for different texts. Duet Display turns my iPad into a secondary screen for my MacBook Pro. I use Scanner Pro to turn all my syllabi and other handouts into PDFs. iStudiez Pro helps keep my schedule in order, and Quizlet helps me study. I use Affinity Photo for processing my Nikon RAW files ( I let my Adobe CC subscription lapse, I just don't find myself using my dSLR that much lately.) I also use a MIDI keyboard with Garage Band and Pro Metronome for piano practice when I don't have access to a real piano/piano lab/practice room.
I keep games and other entertainment apps off the iPad since I'm trying to study and don't want to make it any easier for me to goof off.
Case, Screen Protector, Apple Pencil sleeve, tether to keep my adapter on my cable, stand, keyboard, and holder for using my iPad as a second screen for my MacBook Pro. I also use Anker cables, charger port, and portable charger.
I see what you're bringing in other replies. And I don't have recommendations for those things.
But what I don't see is anything about your work tools. I would imagine that robot installation and servicing would require a hardware toolkit, an electronics toolkit, and a computing toolkit.
My job is highly technical and requires a number of computing devices that have to be charged at all times. So what I use and recommend there is as follows:
From a purely sound standpoint I would avoid putting speakers inside of those shelves and go with stands next to it. A 10 foot spread isnt too bad depending on how far away the listening position is, which looks to be around 8-10 feet or so? Ideally you dont want them much further apart then you are away from them but it also heavily depends on what speakers you choose. Some image so well and so wide its irrelevant (to a point of course) how far apart they are. You can also just "toe" them in until they sound correct. I think either of these options will be better than putting them inside a bookshelf.
If this is intended a mostly a home theater setup these would be my speakers of choice

Have done hours of testing now.
Max amps recorded to a 6P has been 2880mAh. So far this has been the best of the chargers I've tested for the Type-C phones.
I'm was originally concerned with its output consistency, but it does charge at rates comparable to the stock charger and throttles appropriately.
The cable itself is very thin compared to the official cable, but doesn't feel poorly made.
The device itself is very nice, with chamfered edges, and a chrome bevel. There is a tiny white LED as well. It's not annoying.
This definitely beats out the "red chargers", even the Vinsic that Benson reviewed. I have tested that one as well and it cannot handle two devices, nor can it match this chargers consistency.
I have the Samsung wireless charger as well as this much cheaper one. The cheap one is much more reliable than the Samsung which seems really picky about placement (and will work for a little while then just stop).
I don't know about charging speed, but they both charge relatively quickly. I'm more of a keep-it-full than a rapid charge from 5% kinda guy.
As for screen protectors, they're not necessary for everyone. I haven't used a screen protector in years. My Galaxy S4 screen is still flawless after years of use and my Note 5 is flawless after ~4 months. Don't drop it, keep it out of your keys pocket, and don't throw it in a bag with sand - you will be flawless forever.
IMO if you drop frequently you're better off buying a case made to handle it than wasting money on a screen protector. Just because a tempered glass screen protector breaks doesn't mean it saved your phone - it broke because it's tempered glass not gorilla glass. Your phone's glass is much stronger than the cheap little protector.
Hello! You may want to check out this one from Seneo. It has pretty good reviews. Good luck!
The LG v30 uses standard USB-C. There is no special adapter needed specific to LG.
You need to decide:
I personally went with fast wireless charging and could not be happier. If that is something you're interested in you need to make sure you're using a 15w power adapter and a charging mat/stand that support it.
This is a popular adapter:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B017VXARME/ref=psdcmw_329082031_t2_B01N9GR1IR
This is a popular wireless stand:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DBXZZN3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ntqMCb3RA3SA2
Check to see if it can run on 45W. There’s a good chance it can unless it’s running at a very high load. Some of the reviews will monitor power usage, and if it’s okay with 45W you can some smaller options.

I quite like this charger, and it’s perfect for travel as it also includes a normal charging port.
check the wiki for win 2 under “about” for this sub. it has a list of known compatible pd chargers
good luck - hth!
Sorry for being a broken record but I have a question about charging my switch. Can I plug the USB2/USB-C into this...
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VH8ZW02/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_CNwVAbTYRHXGW
...And safely charge/play my switch off the dock? Anker seems to be a good brand and they claim to have "PowerIQ" that aparently "detects your device’s specific charging requirements". Anybody know if this is a safe option for charging my switch? Thanks in advance!
That's not the point.
The point is that both last years and the new gen of iphones support fast charging. You need a different lighting cable as well as base mount in order to do it (the normal iphone charger is a 5watt charger, fast-charging is using something like this 42 watt charger)
So yes you can totally still use all your old iphone and ipad charging stations and cables. The problem is you're not going to be able to take advantage of the much faster charging speeds.
Think of it like filling a tank with water. The current iphones all fill up with a pipe that's 1 inch around. It takes a while but it gets the job done. The two latest generation have a opening that is 5 inches around so if you are using a bigger pipe, you can fill it up much much faster. You can of course still use the old 1 inch tubes but it's not taking advantage of the fact that your new one can accept a much faster stream of water to fill it up.
Does that help?
Somewhat unrelated, but I'm about to buy a power bank (I just learned that term from you, btw) for someone's cellphone, like this or this.
Can you recommend a good, non-exploding one that's not too pricey? I was planning on buying it off Amazon.
Audioengine doesn't really get too much love here, and I've never seen any reviews on that subwoofer. Definitely try to fit a larger sub if possible. I'd check out Emotiva's S10, SVS SB12-NSD, or an HSU VTF-1 MK3. My only personal experience is with the SB12, though I only briefly used it under a desk before moving it into a larger room. Great sub, no idea how it compares to the others.
I am going to recommend you pick up a set of the B-stock RBH R55Ti tower speakers and pair it with the R56Ci center channel and you will have a serious front soundstage for $850. This will really outperform the Elac debut speakers if you have the width for a center channel like that. For a subwoofer I'm going to recommend picking up a pair of SVS SB12-NSD at $900 for both. This setup is something you can pretty much not have to upgrade.
For your surrounds check out the RBH R5bi at only $180 a pair.
If you want either a single sub solution or do not have that kind of space for a center channel, I can provide some alternates.
There's actually a real, sony released power bank made specifically for the vita. I mean I guess you could charge it with anything but if you want the real McCoy click here. If you have prime it's priced pretty well and has good reviews. http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1458165275&sr=8-4&keywords=vita+charger
I'd hold off for now and see (listen) how they are to you in your room. For music, they will likely provide low enough bass unless you listen to very low frequency music styles (especially electronic). For action movies you might find them lacking as a sub is needed with almost any budget speaker. Lots of people recommend the BIC F12 sub. Recommend you don't buy the Polk PSW10 sub despite the user reviews - I think it is a one note boom box. If you have $400 to spend on a sub, get this SVS (don't have one but supposed to be great and great limited time deal) https://www.amazon.com/SVS-SB12-NSD-400-watt-Controlled-Subwoofer/dp/B009F8Y7SO
Can you fix your post format, please?
-No, you only can replace the M.2 SSD with higher capacity or buy an external SSD
-Only if it's throttling too fast you should replace the thermal paste, maybe you can use Arctic MX-4. Undervolting it with ThrottleStop / XTU. I'm using ThrottleStop because XTU can't run on my laptop and it's very light.
-egpu.io is the best source for eGPU setup, check that website. I think Aorus/Gigabyte Gaming Box is really good eGPU
-Connect wired keyboard-mouse to the TB3 box
-Yes, TB3 output has enough power to recharge your laptop
-For on-the-go setup, you should buy USB-C charger that has 1 more port, maybe something like this https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Charger-Delivery-MacBook-Samsung/dp/B074C2VZ2T so you can charge your phone and headphones (I don't know a charger with >2 USB ports), a Bluetooth mouse
It will, but it doesn't come with a USB-C to USB-C cable.
https://www.amazon.com/Certified-Charger-Nekteck-Delivery-Station/dp/B0712252ZQ/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=usb-c+charger&qid=1556070365&s=gateway&sr=8-6
This is a pretty good one, with 60W USB-C PD and a couple of USB-A ports, and it comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable as well.
This battery bank I got recently is cool because it can also charge laptops and power the Switch dock (if you'd ever want to do that for some reason).
For a case, I have a rebranded version of this case that I've only ever heard good things about. It's pretty great... they also made a larger version apparently that can hold the AC adapter.
Edit: There is a matching AC adapter for the battery bank that's good for travel. I use it to charge the Switch and power my Nintendo dock that I moved to smaller plastics for travel and bringing to friend's houses.
The part he plugged into the CFX is something like this.
Then you have to get a charging pad, sorta like this.
This is actually pretty awesome on the CFX because the micro USB is one of two charging options, so it doesn't entirely make the device wireless charging only.
The ipad chargers work great, just make sure to get a high quality micro-usb cable to hook up to it.
Otherwise the anker usb wall chargers have been perfect for me, and allow me to charge all of my devices at once, with a single charger: http://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerPort-Charging-Multi-Port-Charger/dp/B00VH8ZW02
I can't speak to the converter situation, but I did just buy this power bank for charging my usb-c laptops.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BD98CM/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It seems like it is cheaper than some of the other options out there. Doesn't max the airline capacity, but has a solid 20k mAh. It has a 45W output that should charge your chromebook without issues. I haven't had the power bank very long, but I am really happy with it so far (and reviews are positive).
It's a bit bigger and heavier but I'm a huge fan of my Aukey 30,000 power bank. This thing is a beast, can keep my phone running for easily a week with fairly heavy use. Down side is that it's right over a pound in weight.
I know Aukey doesn't have the customer support that Anker offers, but Aukey offered this with 2 quick charge ports and 1 USB C port which can be hard to find (I think Anker recently released a 20,000 power bank with one)
AUKEY 30000mAh Portable Charger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F8IRIN0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_MJRazbYJY150C
This!! This is the same case for my 15” MacBook Pro which come with 87 watts. If you use the 13” adapter at 65 it works, but slowly drains the battery under load as u/mixmastakooz states. Then Mac OS kicks in to keep it powered on; you get huge performance hits which are understandable.
As an aside, I always travel with just one adapter for everything and this works for my laptop on planes.
As an aside, u/mixmastakooz does civ 6 have good touch support? I’ve been looking at an XPS 15 or 13 with the 4K touchscreen option.
I have an S6 and never had the S5 so I don't know how long it would take to charge an S5 wirelessly. The S5 has a bigger battery so I'm assuming it will take longer than mine. I haven't really timed my charger, but I would estimate that it would take 1.5-2 hours to charge to full. I use it at night, so it's not really an issue. It'll probably charge your phone at the same rate as if you were to use a 1A usb charger.
This is the kind that you would want to get: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-EP-PG920IBUGUS-Wireless-Charging-Charger/dp/B00UCZGS6S/ref=sr_1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1451801626&sr=1-4&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger
This one is newer and will charge the Note 5 and S6 edge+ faster, but it does work for every Qi enabled phone at the regular rate: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Fast-Charge-Wireless-Charging/dp/B012AWBN9C/ref=sr_1_7?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1451801626&sr=1-7&keywords=samsung+wireless+charger
The wireless charger is really used for the convenience and not the speed. I had this charger before I got the Samsung one. The Samsung one is a lot better in my opinion because it has a light that tells you the state of the charge (full/charging). The Samsung one also has a larger charging area so you don't have to set it down exactly perfect for it to charge. The other one has a smaller charging surface so you have to set it exactly in the middle or it won't charge.
Recommend this guy: https://www.amazon.com/ZMI-Pixelbook-Nintendo-External-Portable/dp/B072BD98CM
The capacity could be a bit bigger, but it's got everything you'd want, for a reasonable price: 45W output, USB pass through, good dimensions, and bonus feature if adding USB-A ports when you need them.
For apps, def get the strava app. It will keep track of all of your rides/segments and you can follow your friends. Once you start using it, you won't stop! However, if you use your phone as your gps/computer make sure to buy a small anker charger from amazon with a cable to recharge your phone when it dies out there. Have fun my dude!

I am completely confused by AC Chargers. I have looked at the spreadsheet (not updated since 2015) that has links to Benson's reviews, I've checked this site: https://usbccompliant.com/ , and I've read a bunch of reviews on Benson's Google+ page, but I still don't get it. Seems like 99% of reviews are for USB C to USB A cables which I have no use for, and it is impossible to dig through them to find the less than handful of charger reviews.
I want a USB C charger capable of rapid charging that is not going to destroy my phone, but everything I read seems to have conflicting information. First someone says as long as it is USB C it is fine, then no, it's not fine because it has Quickcharge over USB C which is not spec compliant, people say it 'charges rapidly' then someone else says it doesn't... I see something through links/reviews on Amazon.com that is apparently a suitable alternative to the Google charger, but then big surprise, it's not available on Amazon.ca
I didn't want to pay so much for the Google chargers, but at this point I may as well have...
So what is going on, are either of these spec compliant, rapid charge capable over USB C, and not going to destroy my phone?
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B019FCIOI8/ :edit: nevermind, this one is apparently NOT good because it has QC over USB C
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B017I7EX46
I would have thought AC chargers would be something that people were commonly looking for, why is this info so hard to find?
Thanks
I don't know if this one works, but it says it supports USB-PD and uses 12V. I'm considering getting it when I get my WIN 2.

I tend to use devices like these to bulk power a cluster of Pis. Probably much easier (and quieter/cooler/more energy efficient) than adapting a PC power supply.
I have 5 Raspberry Pi 3s doing Docker cluster work with one of these connected to a UPS. Anker also do a 5 pack of short micro USB cables super cheap you can use to keep the cabling tidy.

I have this one, not the cheapest and not the most expensive and works great for charging. Only problem I have is the charging LED is crazy bright so I put a piece of tape over it so at night when I'm charging my phone it doesn't act like a night light lol. Does NOT come with a wallplug, just a cable.
The sweet spot is slightly offset for the phone but again, it works great.
yea, but for now at least there are some pretty good options.

and even though it is on the supported list of car adapters it does not work for the win 2. Im returning it to amazon in 2 hours.
When you shop, the primary thing you are looking to match up is the video resolution you plan to connect with for any video monitors. Just about anything works at 1080p, but things start to get hairy with 4k, 5k, etc. (Had a grand adventure trying to get a 'legacy' 30" dual link DVI monitor to connect. USB-C > mini DP, mini DP > dual link DVI dongle daisy chain)
Just about anything I picked up handled USB-A and SD cards.
For my own workflow, one of the things I did was buy something just for power. One USB-C @60W for my i9/32G macbook keeps up at home, and I mostly use the USB-A ports for charging other gadgets - not for data. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0712252ZQ for $35) Picked up a few uniquely colored cables so I can see data vs power. I'm a developer, and that silly power supply has been keeping up with fan spinning power draws for almost a year when I'm at home.

TYLT Vu Wireless Charger. I love this charger! It's really easy to make sure it's centered on the charging spot.
I ordered some Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color - Black and this came with it. Can someone help me identify the Japanese words and what it is? Thank you. Here is amazon link to show what I ordered. I ordered off of ebay and the seller put this in next to the thank you note. The thank you note did not say what it was.
The vita is picky with where its taking power from, It’ll only accept 1.5v! I had a anker power bank that was 2.4 and it wouldn’t accept the charge at all so i purchased the official portable charger battery for the vita and it works just fine. Pretty cheap right now too! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006JKARP8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517772043&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=ps+vita+power+bank&dpPl=1&dpID=41CJmuKxLGL&ref=plSrch
I have an iPhone XS regular size.
To charge I have an Anker wireless charging mat that sits on my bedside table. Its connected to an Anker 39 watt brick with 2 usb slots. My watch charger is plugged into the other slot. I'm not sure if the charging mat is capable of fast charging, but it doesn't really matter because I put my phone on the mat at night and when I leave to workout (s3 cellular watch, thing is awesome) so I never really get to a point where I'm hurting for battery.
In the car I use this Kenu wireless charger. I kinda splurged a bit on the car one, but whatever. In the past I would have it sit on my leg and it would sometimes fall off and generally be a pain in the ass, so the fact that it holds it up is great. Benefit of upgrading from a touchid phone to a face id phone with this kind of setup is that you just have to tap the screen and it wakes up and a glance unlocks for any notifications.
I'm doing my best to embrace this wireless future. If I gotta spend a little extra to get there, that's cool with me.
I recently bought this charger and am really happy with it. I get rapid charging in the car which is usually when I need it most. Definitely recommend it.
I have used a number of wireless chargers over the last few years. Most of them were decent at best. But, once I started using this, I never looked back. Hands down, the best charger ever.
I have this laptop and yes it does support USB C charging. I use this one however, you want portable charging. The first one seems to be possible. All you need is to assure your charging method is of 45 watts and supports power delivery.
I have a few from this company and they work great. Mine are an older model that I've had since I got my Nexus 5x. They work perfectly for my 3a. Also if you want official Google ones they have them on their store
This one is $11 and has 4,700 mostly positive reviews on Amazon. Listed as a best seller
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charger-Yootech-Charging-Qi-Enabled/dp/B00NWMI07S
In your opinion which of the two is better? I'm on the fence about this. If I get the battery packs everyone is referring to, battery doesn't factor in as much. I'm sure I will gripe about it when flying to India but that's another issue.
How did you feel with the difference in screen quality? Did you feel there was enough positive change to justify getting the slim PSVita?
*edit added question and corrected spelling.
This is the charger i got when my OG Pixel charger died (supports quick charge)
Good luck with your search, enjoy Canada!
There seems to be a sale on Anker chargers. Would any of these be a great fit for the Switch? I don't want to run the chance of ruining it. Also if they are what would be a recommend charging cord? 4 Port
Quick charge 3.0
I use these with my SL2 for USB C charging and they work fine.
... And then any quality USB C to C cable. I use mostly Anker, as I've had the best luck with that brand. I can also get it to charge (more slowly though) with the Anker PowerCore Speed 20100 mAh battery.
In addition to the above, not all wireless chargers are created equal. Cheap ones may not work with all phones or may require very precise positioning of the phone (which kills the convenience factor compared to wire). The one that is really good but expensive is TYLT. There is also a cheaper alternative which is supposedly a Chinese copy of Tylt.
I have a Tylt that I am very happy with. I heard that Itian A6 works fine, but I don't have personal experience with it.
I've heard with gundam markers you can (or should) be able to just rub the excess off with your thumb, assuming its on bare plastic or on top of a gloss coat. Sharpies, seem like they would be more worrisome to me, just because I know they're "permanent". my overall recommendation is Tamiya Panel Line Accents. They're enamel but on a good gloss coat they flow through everything, pretty cheap too you can get all 4 colors here..

I've had good luck with this one.

Using the quick charger made it warm/hot and didn't ever cool down even after 100%... once I switched to a normal ~2 amp charger it charges fine overnight and everything stays nice and cool.
I bought two of these and so far they have been flawless. They look pretty nice, too.
If you want one that comes with a good quality C to C cable as well, I'd recommend this:

It's QC 3.0 based so it'll work for the S8 (only pulls max 15W) and any other device you purchase in the future that supports fast charging up to 24W.
The car charger for Nintendo switch Hori is 5V 3amp https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MZAUPD6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_RBcKyb75XS92A
I would suggest you match that output in a power bank.... There are not that many that do output 5V 3.0Amp via usb c. Lower current output ones will charge, but do so slower.
I'd recommend looking at the Anker 20,000
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-VoltageBoost/dp/B014ZO46LK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1485844640&sr=8-2&keywords=anker+usb+c+battery
Theres also an aukey one that's 30,000 mah, but its heavier and bigger also I'm not sure about how well it conforms to usb c spec.
https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-30000mAh-Portable-Charger-Micro-USB/dp/B01F8IRIN0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485974356&sr=8-1&keywords=aukey+usb+c+battery
I did some very rough estimate calculations based on Nintendo's estimates on battery life and charging in post if your interested.

Assuming this is the case, I’d recommend picking up a good sized battery like this: AUKEY 30000mAh USB-C Portable Charger with Quick Charge 3.0 Power Bank, 3 USB Outputs Battery Pack for Nintendo Switch, iPhone 8 / Plus and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F8IRIN0?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
That way when you have access to power you can make the most of it/take it with you.
If this isn’t the case then OP, please check out r/personalfinance
I have this one and it works great.
I also have these two, that work great.

I've seen a lot of good things about that one. I realized I messed up one of the links in the original post where i meant to link to this. In the interest of not having to return it and shell out an extra $30, would you say it's safe to keep using?
This thing seems pretty awesome: http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1371547154&sr=8-3&keywords=vita+charger .
I don't have it but people seem to be very pleased with it.
Also, you can get some sort of grip if you get cramps in prolonged gaming sessions.

Sure.

Great post!
I thought your audience may be interested in knowing that the the ZMI QB820 and the 45W PD power brick (someone else mentioned) are available on Amazon now. Here are the URL links:
ZMI QB820 (U.S. version)
https://www.amazon.com/ZMI-Pixelbook-Nintendo-External-Portable/dp/B072BD98CM
ZMI 45W PD Power Brick (U.S. version):
https://www.amazon.com/ZMI-PowerPlug-Pixelbook-Charging-Nintendo/dp/B071911MG5
this one.
Yeah I’m fairly sure I’m not on fast charging, I’m using just a normal adapter for it. I love using the charger for when I’m between 50-90% battery and don’t mind a slower charge that’s more convenient.
I don't have a pic, but there are several like mine.
3d printed Pi stack
3d printed Anker stack(compatible with above stack)
Tiny switch 5V
Anker USB power brick
Then just a handful of 1ft ethernet cables and 1ft USB cables. You can buy the USB to Barrel power cable for the switch, or if you are comfortable with a soldering iron, make one yourself.
If you need two ports:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charge-Charger-PowerPort-PowerIQ/dp/B01IUSYF8G/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1481224207&sr=1-3&keywords=anker+wall+charger+quick+charge+3.0
If you only need one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016LO4UTA/ref=twister_B01HECNYW2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have the 1-port charger and love it. Like u/TheRipePunani (lol) said, anything Anker or Aukey and you can't go wrong.
I use the CTA Digital case. I also have the official Sony Travel Pouch for keeping the 3 parts of the charger, though to fit the Vita in there with the brick and USB cable, I have to take the part that plugs into the electrical outlet (the figure 8 cable) out or else it's too tight of a fit. Also if you've got Sony's official external battery pack, that can fit where the bricks goes in the pics.
I also have the following 2 cases made by HORI which I'm not using atm. The blue I'm intending on using with the Aqua Blue slim I'm planning on getting in July so I have both the OLED and slim Vitas, and maybe sometime the pink one if I want to carry games as the blue one unfortunately doesn't hold any.
https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0166G4ZKC
https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B005WPFLO8 (Looks like this on the inside, my OLED Vita did move around a bit when I tested it out which some of the reviews pointed out if Google translate is to be trusted)
Planning on also getting this Smatree case for that Vita slim for holding the 3 parts of the charger and if I ever want to bring everything at once. According to reviews, all 3 parts will fit, but it'll be a bit of a tight fit.
I got this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0172QQNBY
Works perfectly. Looks like a quality item, arrives in a very nice box, all shiny, no mould marks.
I got this one https://www.amazon.com/Certified-Charger-Nekteck-Delivery-Station/dp/B0712252ZQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&sr=1-3&s=wireless&keywords=usb-c%2B61w%2Bwith%2Busb-a as a secondary charger for my 13" MacBook Pro a while back and I also use it with my Matebook X Pro.
I like it because it's full 60w USB-C, but also offers 12w for 3 USB-A ports if you need to plug in a phone or tablet or other device. Wirecutter recommended it and it's been a fantastic travel accessory. I literally got one that I just leave in my carry-on because I travel so much.
They're saying all of the ports is perfectly fine, just don't use a quick charging port like some battery packs have.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01F8IRIN0/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=
This has a quick charging port, the orange one, do not use that port with the switch.
I use the Nekteck 5.4A USB-C Car Charge(4019006) which I highly recommend. It's a Benson approved USB-C car charger and has a standard USB A port as well. Amusingly enough it seems to charge my phone faster than the stock Google pixel charger though this hasn't been tested.

You can do that or you can do what I've done for the past month. Get one of these.
It charges my iphone 5 up a good 4-5 times without having to be recharged. Super nifty
A lot of people will suggest using enamels as the next step up from using gundam markers. Tamiya makes this set of pre-thinned enamels specifically for panel lining. I've had some luck with them, though I actually still prefer gundam markers if I don't go the full clear coat-panel line-flat coat route. If you use those also pick up some enamel thinner (lighter fluid actually also works) to clean up your lines.
I use this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0172QQNBY/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1496841530&sr=8-14&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=nekteck
It is Benson Leung approved. And it works great very fast charging!
Hmm I hope these are alright. I had actually been considering the Yootech before I jumped on this. At least returning it won't be an issue if I need. Thanks for the tip tho.
Edit: BTW are you talking about this one:Link or this one: LINK
Thanks for the review and I really appreciate it.
I have a few suggestions.
Can you add a buy link / amazon link in your posts so people know where they can buy the chargers from?
Also.. Can you review this one too? https://www.amazon.com/PowerIQ-Anker-Charger-PowerPort-included/dp/B01CJ90J6O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1468080497&sr=8-2&keywords=anker+usb+c+charger
People say that its as fast as the OEM Nexus 6P Charger
I use this guy on Amazon. $16, includes a C-C cable, and is (if I recall correctly) Benson approved: https://www.amazon.com/Charger-CHOETECH-Included-Nintendo-Supported/dp/B017I7EX46/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501016537&sr=8-1&keywords=choetech+usb+c+charger
The reviews say it doesn't come with a cable; those are old reviews. I've bought 6 of these (for myself, brother, and some friends). All are fantastic.
It took me ages of research to find new releases for items like this. Here's the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074C2VZ2T/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've been loving the charger so far. Incredibly quick.
I've used [this Nektek] (https://www.amazon.com/charger-Nekteck-Charger-Adapter-Integrated/dp/B0172QQNBY) since February and it works perfectly. Benson Leung approved
Another good one on Amazon that I purchased has worked great.
> This baby pushes 24W through which is the highest Ive been able to find. Charges my phone in 20-25 minutes tops.
> edit: I know it says it doesnt do quick charge on the G5 on amazon but it works perfect for me (H831)
Thanks for the helpful info! Just checked the guide, and I'm a bit confused. Will the below battery work for the switch with a USB a to USB c? From what I gather, it would fall under the "good enough" category?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079Z4RHZZ/ref=cm_sw_r_oth_api_i_R7IPCb4WY5TP9
Dunno if there is a general recommendation, but I picked up this one about a month ago, and it works pretty well.
Yes. I it works best if you keep GO charged above 65%. It will eventually top it off up to 100% then drain from there https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B01CU1EC6Y/ref=dp_ob_title_wld
OSMAnd is a great software that works just fine for me, it's based on Open Street Map and works offline. In addition to that I have a small powerbank that I have in a ziplock bag ziptied to my top tube when I'm on longer tours, that has never failed me yet.
Tylt Vu 3 has worked great for me. Looks nice, can use the phone while charging, the fact that the charging point for the nexus 6 is off center doesn't matter, and full charge takes about 4 hours.
This is stupid and wasteful. For something around that price, I'd recommend this reusable charger: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B01CU1EC6Y/
It says that each of the chargers in the 15$ 3-pack of Jolt Emergency chargers will take your phone up to 20% battery power. This is a total of 60% if you use all three. The 16$ Anker battery, on the other hand, can store 5000 mAh. Assuming 80% efficiency, this will charge an iPhone X to 100% and still have enough left over to charge it once more to 50%. Also it's reusable. I use their 9000 mAh and am surprised how many months it holds the charge. Other brands are probably good too, but I've heard good stuff about Anker.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nekteck-Charger-Adapter-Integrated-Macbook/dp/B0172QQNBY (it's on Amazon US as well). Charges rapidly and looks pretty good :). Has a type c cable built in which clicks in well and doesn't fall out. I have my dash cam plugged into the standard usb slot and it will power that and charge the phone at the same time (I use Google maps for navigation).
I don't have it myself, but this looks like a good solution https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Charger-Delivery-MacBook-Samsung/dp/B074C2VZ2T?pd_rd_wg=loNzG&pd_rd_r=a006ce88-8cfe-4315-9d7e-54bc6db55c51&pd_rd_w=NrcUY&ref_=pd_gw_cartx&pf_rd_r=PB2N3P26KF6RQDN33BSV&pf_rd_p=6b27b606-ba71-500d-b5f8-3510f86504b4
Selling Anker super portable Battery 5000mah -- $20 -- Comes with cable and small carrying pouch.
Reason for selling: I have a Power Delivery Phone, would like a Power Delivery Charger.
Specs Below:
https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B01CU1EC6Y?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_7774590011
I had same problem as you, I got advice to order Choetech from aliexpress (they sell there same stuff as on amazon and are aproved by Benson). This is link to their official aliexpress store. Links to the amazon stores where you can find approval by Benson
usb A<->C
and usb C<->C
From what I've seen, Benson doesn't test chargers itself, so I think only cables are risky (it has 4,5 stars on amazon too, here is link if you want to read reviews )
I ordered C<->C cable, A<->C cables and charger itself there. Charger came with one extra 1m (3,3ft) cable C<->C which i didn't expect, that's always nice
Kind of an unknown brand on yours, but I can definitely attest to this one working and it's from Aukey which while not as nice as Anker, is relatively well known.
My current laptop is the Huawei Matebook X. I use and Aukey power adapter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074C2VZ2T) and battery pack (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JK63TSJ). The battery pack can actually charge the laptop. The power adapter can charge both the laptop and battery pack. I have one long usb-c to usb-c cable and one short one (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DNSYH7R) that each do USB 3.1 speeds. It's great having a usb-c setup like this. Super light and lots of charging options.
The key is finding one which supports Power Delivery. This is a great option: Nekteck USB-IF Certified USB Type C Car Charger with PD Power Delivery 45W & USB-A 12W for MacBook 12-inch/Pro 2016, Pixel 3 2/XL Galaxy S9/ S9+/ Note 8/ S8/ S8+ More(USB-C Cable 3.3Ft Included) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075WQQG7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_R3S9BbJY2CYET
$70 is kinda expensive. If it had battery extension and thumbstick extension for that price it would be ok.But thats very pricy now.
Also video of a working prototype would be better. Also an idea..
Grip looks like its quite thick. You can make a place for http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8 and it would be awesome.
I'm pretty sure the available external battery marketed for the vita can charge other usb devices as well, so single purpose may not be a concern.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006JKARP8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1377393780&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165
I didn't know they existed... I've been using a couple of braided USB-C cables from Amazon and an Anker wireless charger - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBXZZN3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. We love the wireless charger!
Sure, best thing ever. http://www.amazon.com/PS-Vita-Portable-Charger-Sony/dp/B006JKARP8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418700581&sr=8-2&keywords=psvita+battery&pebp=1418700592940
Thanks for contacting them.
I feel like it's worth noting, to get the quick charge input, you do need to use their QC input adapter. Assuming one would want a two port charger, Amazon has the QC 3.0 two port listed at 4.6 oz.
The older 10k (6.2oz) will charge a bit faster, in my experience, with my 2.4ax2 port (3oz) at around 6 hours. That is about the same listed on the newer 10k's amazon page of 5hr 40m with a 2a charger.
Assuming that the 4.6oz is accurate, there is a 2.6oz difference total for a savings of 2 hours if the 4hr charge time holds true as well. Still significant time savings but at a price.
I've had very good luck with the Tylt Vu:
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Charger-Galaxy-Nexus-Phones/dp/B00DG8NUC8
I know it's not on your website, but have you had a chance to try the 60W Nekteck 4 port charger? Link It looks like the Monoprice 60W charger is out of stock for awhile and I was looking for something similar!
