Ok. Did some reading.

I'm not going to sugar coat this because well, I don't believe in that.

Welcome to the dark side. We have goldfish crackers. (BTW my roommate was an aide for 20 years and said that they are convenient because if they are attacking you, you can throw them at them and it will distract them for a while.) Invest in goldfish crackers and fruit loops. They make good rewards.

Buy this book. I really wish someone had recommended me that book before I stepped into an autism classroom. I reread it now every once in a while and still learn new things.

Start here. Go through the rest of her blog. Subscribe to it. She runs an excellent easy to understand blog.

Visuals are insanely important. Subscribe to LessonPix. Your school may have Board Maker, but I find it very difficult to use. Plus, LessonPix is online based so you can create something at home and then access it at school or vice versa. It is like $36 a year, which is insanely cheap. For my visuals, I usually put a picture with the word on the bottom.

You will need velcro. Do not buy it from a store. This is a wholesale place online. They have the cheapest velcro out there. I buy coins so I don't have to cut it, it makes it a lot easier. If you are going to cut velcro, get titanium scissors. They will not gum up when cutting velcro. Have a system with your velcro so you don't have random patterns of velcro. I usually do soft on a surface and rough on anything that travels.

You are going to need a personal laminator. My binding has the cheapest 5 mil laminating sheets out there. Use 5 mil for anything that travels and if its going to stay on a wall, use 3 mil. 3 mil or 1 mil (what the school laminating machine uses) tears easily and doesn't last. Once you create something, you don't want to lose it. Most any laminator will do. I like the Fellowes brand. This is a very good one. That my binding website has some awesome deals on laminators. Whatever you get, just make sure it doesn't need a carrier sleeve to laminate because those are annoying. Just make sure that if you from 5 mil to 3 mil you switch the laminator over to 3 mil and let it cool or there will be a burning smell. To save time I bought one of these. Just makes cutting faster.

Don't overspend on stuff for the classroom. Look at oriental trading post. You can find a lot of stuff there. Sign up for the newsletter and wait from a free shipping coupon, don't pay for shipping.

Get yourself a couple pairs of these. I like the 18 inch ones. Make sure your tetnus shot is up to date.

You probably need to brush up on your evidence based practices for autism too.

I know this is a lot of information. But these are all things I wish people would have told me before I started teaching this level of autism kiddos. I went into it blind. I've had to put all this together through reading, training, and observation. Its easier just to be front loaded with the information.

My first year teaching, I was put in a K-1 mod/severe autism class (your setting 3). It was the first autism specific class at the school. Nobody gave me any support. I had no idea what I was doing. I had very little formal training on autism specific teaching. It was like being sucked into a vortex in deep water with nobody around to help me. I didn't even know where to go for information. That's why I try to help people and be completely honest. I'm not trying to overwhelm you.

If you need help and support, let me know. My MA.Ed is in Special Ed with a specialty in Autism Spectrum Disorder. I am teaching a class similar to yours at an elementary school level next year. I'm really good at dealing with behaviors and data too.

When I got home and looked at your link more closely, I realized that it is a T430-focused guide that I had already found with Google. It's a good guide, but it is lacking the T430s specific answers I was looking for. Thank you for quoting that post from the user who swapped palm-rests + keyboards between T430s and T420s, good to get confirmation on that route working well.

I found a guide auf Deutsch covering the FHD screen mod on T430s specifically. It is excellent, and readable enough through Google translate, but we should have a guide in English as well. I took a ton of pictures as I did the FHD upgrade and T420 keyboard fitment, so I will be posting up a detailed guide / comparison for both.

When I had my laptop apart again yesterday while installing the FHD screen (I'm over the moon about that upgrade), I decided to try again with just jamming the unmodified T420 keyboard into the T430s palm rest. While the T420 keyboard doesn't quite fit right with its much thicker tabs, I was barely able to secure it in place after fighting to get one of the misaligned screw holes to bite, and somehow without cross-threading it!

I think a lot of folks would be unhappy with this solution however, as the bottom right-hand corner of the T420 keyboard ends up pretty bouncy due to its tab(s) not being secured into the palm rest. But for me, so far this issue isn't bothering me enough to do anything about it. I'd rather not risk metal shavings going into the T420 keyboard from taking a Dremel to its tabs. Actually, as I'm typing this, the noise from the loosely mounted keyboard bouncing from using the cursor keys is starting to bother me a bit. I may end up getting out the Dremel in the end.

Side note: from my comparison the T420 keyboard actually appears far superior to the T430 keyboard as far as chassis water resistance. The water drain holes line up perfectly, and the T420 keyboard forms a shallow tub with "walls" around its periphery. The T430 keyboard is just completely flat, and makes no effort to channel water directly into the drain holes, and has holes in it to boot, where the T420 keyboard has a contiguous sticker covering its entire bottom. Folks with T430/s: get the T420 keyboard, it is worth it in every way!

There's so much more that I want to say about the T420 keyboard upgrade, and about the upgraded T430s being such a great option for a "new" laptop even in 2018. I will make a separate post about my T430s upgrades. But so far I am unsurprisingly in love with the T420 keyboard, and its superior TrackPoint nipple and buttons.

I also put some patches of peel-and-stick real, black suede onto the palm rest, which feels beyond amazing. When typing at maximum speed, I'm not resting my palms at all. But when typing casually, which is most of the time for me, I definitely am enjoying the suede immensely!

Thanks again for your help!

Scavenger hunts are too much fun! I should be working! RAWR! Thanks for the fun break =]

1.) Something that is grey. My name is makeup and I am grey! WL

2.) Something reminiscent of rain. This color is called "Naughty Nautical". Nautical = water, water = rain. =D?? WL

3.) Something food related that is unusual. Pretty sure most people don't have teeney shaped veggie cutters. WL

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!) This is for my two parrots! My quaker especially loves dried papaya. I'm teaching her how to fly right now and have been using food as a reward, but we ran out of papaya a couple of weeks ago, and our local bird store has been out of stock for a long time. Turns out that Whole Foods doesn't carry dried papaya either. Rawr! WL

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I had heard about this when the movie came out in English. I liked the movie and then moved on with my life. Come this spring, I found myself facing a LOT LOT LOT of driving by myself, so I started borrowing audiobooks from the library. I borrowed all three of these books and REALLY enjoyed them. It wasn't at all what I expected. They're murder mysteries with a lot of themes about violence against women. When I learned about the author, it became that much more interesting. The author wrote these books with the intention of making 10, but died after the third one. They found them after he died. The themes about sexual violence stem from a gang rape he witnessed as a teenager. He never forgave himself for not being able to help her, so he channeled all those emotions into his writing later in life. Anyway.....interesting stuff. Good books. I recommend them :)

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related! Pfft.

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...) If I was a cat, this would be my JAM!

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it. Dresses are admittedly useful for avoiding public indecency charges, but not really useful beyond that. BUT LOOK AT THE RAINBOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WL

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why? Not on my wishlist (it's on American Netflix though!), but everyone should be aware of the impact of plastic on the environment and our bodies. Education is everything. Plus, there's a newborn baby at the end.

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain. 1. Stab zombie in the skull. 2. ??? 3. Profit. The reviews rave that it's super sharp and doesn't stick so it probably wouldn't get stuck in their skull like other knives. WL

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals. I don't know if I'd use the word profound, but it would sure help me out. A big passion of mine is learning to ID birds. I'm pretty good at most birds, but finding information on juveniles is VERY difficult sometimes. I've used this book before to help identify birds in hand, but I think the information regarding juvenile plumage would help me identify young birds from afar. It's even part of my job to identify birds! WL

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items. This is an Add-On item, but it's also a hair addon =P Not on my WL, but I'm losing my hair like crazy so I might have to look into these >.>

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why? This isn't the most expensive item on my list (that was #8), but it's the one that would help me the most! When I do field work, I tend to have a lot of gear on me at once, and the extra strain of binoculars around my neck tends to give me some really freaking sore muscles. A harness would be MUCH easier on my shoulders/neck/back. I start field work again in October, so I plan on buying it for myself by then anyway =] WL

14.) Something bigger than a bread box. EDIT A bread box is typically similar in size to a microwave. This is larger than the average bread box.

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball. I am smaller than a golf ball! WL

16.) Something that smells wonderful. This smells amazing!!! I'm infatuated with cinnamon, but had to stop using cinnamon Crest YEARS ago because I developed a bad reaction to it. This stuff is expensive, but the company is very environmentally responsible and I feel good giving my business to them. WL

17.) A (SFW) toy. This seems pretty SFW unless you're playing Cards Against Humanity. evil grin WL

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school. I used sticky notes all the time in school! WL

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be. I've obsessed with birds since I was 11. I've been obsessed with rainbows forever. I'm currently obsessed with sushi. THIS IS ALL THREE! WL

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand. Hear me out! This baby can keep ice for DAYS. Sitting out in the sun for hours on end? NO PROBLEM! YOU'LL HAVE ICE AT THE END OF THE DAY!! Seriously, Thermos needs to pay me for how much I rave about their stuff. My water bottle has still had ice in it after three days AND being refilled twice. No joke.

This beauty was made in OR.

u/apalehorse · 3 pointsr/Warhammer

If he is a big warhammer collector and painter then it may not be a good idea to get him a random model as he may already have it or dislike that particular model. I'd suggest that you consider putting several smaller things in a box for him.

Here are some alternatives to an individual model that he may enjoy:

-Primers and paints (you can buy the GW brand paints, but I'd recommend Vallejo). A mix of metal paints (copper, brass, gold, silver, steel) would be a nice gift. And every painter always needs black so that would be a nice thing to add on.

-Paint brushes. A few very fine brushes would be helpful. Look for sizes 0, 5/0 and 10/0.

-If you know that he airbrushes you could buy him a bottle of 70 isp alcohol to add to any grouping of things you give him.

-Warhammer books are always a nice gift. If you can tell us if he collects Warhammer 40K (scifi) or Warhammer (medieval aesthetic) we can recommend books.

-Something like this would be a nice gift for him if he puts together a lot of models: http://www.amazon.com/Xacto-X5282-Basic-Knife-Set/dp/B00004Z2UB/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1415106833&sr=8-2&keywords=xacto

-A warhammer themed t shirt (you can find them on etsy and ebay).

  • Helix Circle Maker (~$8, use this a lot).
  • This set of 48 skinny washi tape (be aware that the image DOES represent the products. I liked all but 3 of the tapes, and only one-third had gold foil patterns).
  • Sakura Pigma Micron pens (I use 01 and 08 the most).
  • Tombow Fudenosuke brushpens (I like the soft tip, but I bought the two pack. It came with a mini ruler that I cut to fit into my A6-ish's pocket and that's the ruler I use, if I use one). ~$3/pen
  • If I need an eraser, my favorite is Pentel Clic Eraser ZE-22. I've had this for decades. Has never failed me. Also, no stub problems.
  • I use Tombow brush pens, but eh. I should have bought the monochrome set rather than the ones I have. I do not regret buying #451, #243, and #062, but YMMV (~$3/pen).
  • The Pentel Aquash Brush pens are the best way to get into water brush pens, water coloring ($3 per).
  • Along with a Prima watercolors palette (I favor Tropicals, but will go for Odessey next time, ~$15-25). It made me realize that actually, yes, I do enjoy water colors.

    Best of luck!

Apologies for the text wall!

Often times the white acrylic pearled stems are very difficult to get back to perfect when the airway has been poorly maintained (not sure on your color). Best approach I have found with these is to completely submerge it and soak the stem in a mixture of white distilled vinegar and baking soda. You want the solution to bubble and fizz during the majority of the soak (so use a good amount of baking soda in the bottom of your container and a lot of patience filling it). I will usually place the stem tennon side down. Make sure you have cleared the airway as much as you can. You will want to see bubbles coming out through the lip as it soaks. You can soak for 1hr to overnight (this soak won't hurt anything)

Follow up the soak with passes of a bristle nylon brush (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0115SLLLM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_aVXdzb72RVG6S) and hard bristle pipe cleaners if still being stubborn (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000W5R6UA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DWXdzbXF8T8WV) Pass multiple soft pipe cleaners dipped in the flat sodium bicarbonate solution, followed by dry ones. Aaaand REPEAT as many time as needed haha. It usually works pretty well for me.

You can also use the flat sodium bicarbonate mixture to clean the outside of the bowl and inside the shank to remove some smell! Vinegar and water is often recommended for cleaning hard wood floors that have been freshly stained as it won't remove stain and sanitizes. The extra dissolved baking soda can help with smell as well :)

When I started doing bondage, I got a bunch of thick (1/4 inch) cotton clothesline from the hardware store, cut it into 15ft and 30ft lengths, and tied a tight overhand knot at the ends. Rope is always easy to explain away, particularly when it's "normal" rope and not the nice bondage-specific stuff. If you find that you really like tying, you can always buy better rope, and then you have convenient lengths of clothesline for other things.

15ft is enough for tying wrists together in a two-column tie, and you can use that same simple tie to tie together anything that has two 'columns', like two ankles, an arm to a waist, two sides of a bent leg, and so on.

If you want to, say, tie wrists and ankles to the bedposts, what you want is a one-column tie, which is just a secure and comfortable way to secure one 'column' of the body to something else.

If you want to get more into bondage, 30ft is enough to tie a basic chest harness, which you can use to tie other things to, as a convenient 'handle' for your partner, or just to give them more of a feeling of confining rope. A common chest harness is a box tie, or a takate kote, which is basically a chest harness that binds the hands and arms instead of letting them stay loose.

If you want something other than rope, I'd recommend something thicker like scarves rather than strips of fabric. You can pick up scarves at basically any women's accessories section of a department store. Fabric tends to knot tightly, so thicker fabric is a bit better, and it's good to keep something around to help work the knot out (like a knitting needle to stick into the knot) or something to cut the fabric (like a pair of safety shears or a knife you're comfortable using close to skin). Actually, keeping those things around is important when you're tying with rope, too.

u/susandennis · 5 pointsr/sewing

Ok, #1 that is the coolest idea on the planet! There is no better money you could spend on a gift for a sewer. Especially one without decent scissors. (or shears or cutters or whatever).

I use Gingher and Kai. Both are great but Kai is definitely easier on the hands. I've got 67 year old hands that are in good shape but not in 30 year old shape.

These Kai Shears are the ones I use (and love) every day. They aren't as expensive as you want to spend so might I suggest adding these embroidery scissors? They are so very handy and the larger finger holes make it much easier for old hands to get them working efficiently.

Seriously, this is just the nicest idea.

u/halfstache78 · 2 pointsr/crafts

You sound like my girlfriend. More sleep is lost to crafting than anything else. She also does a lot of stuff with wine/liquor bottles. This bottle cutting tool is awesome and there's all kinds of neat things to make. She primarily makes the self watering planters and luminaries (cuts the bottom off and sits it on top of a votive candle). Although some of the stuff she makes requires more expensive power tools. She has an ETSY store called Mino'aka Studios. You may be able to get a couple of ideas from there.

We love the idea of craft trading as well. If you're interested you should reach out to her on ETSY. She knows about my redditing "problem" so just mention we talked on here. I'm more into woodworking, but she's the crafting genius. I'm sure she'd love to talk to you about that.

That's funny, we have a lot of Nov/Dec birthdays as well...including mine. I can sympathize. The crafting really ramps up once the weather cools off and with the holidays approaching.

I bet now you don't feel so bad about rambling, huh? I tend to go on and on as well.

u/lmJuice · 1 pointr/MTB

So I got the idea off YouTube from a guy called MTB Alan. Super awesome video of him showing you step by step. Check it out.

$10:
Sugru Mouldable Glue - Black (3-Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BFE0KNQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5azoDb9ANG90W

$7:
Suptig Tripod Mount Adapter for Gopro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071XVZKP1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0czoDbBPVN334

That’s it. IMO looks way better than zip ties, holds much better than zip ties. The Sugru is tested for 4lbs (roughly 2kg) and it feels solid as a rock. Took about 5 minutes to knead, 2 minutes to mold, and then let it sit for 48 hours. The pack says 24 will be plenty but since I used all 3 packs I decided to let it sit a little longer.

Hope it helps somebody! 🤙🏼🤙🏼

The most mundane thing I could think of

product review: I was a little nervous with two 8 inchers to fill my hands but I was pleasantly surprised by how they fit right in. They did their job and they did it well. I was very pleased and will share them with my friends and neighbors when they need to get the job done!

u/Hexxman007 · 9 pointsr/beerporn

Sure,

well theres three types of labels, printed cans( cant do anything with )

Wraps ( plastic that has a seam) you can cut these but you have to cut the seam and then snip the top and bottom ring area then it will flatten.

Adhesive labels. ( these work best)

I try to use the edge of an xacto knife or even a fingernail on a part of the label that i know ill maybe trim a hair off of anyway , so that it hides any crinkling.

there are a few companies that its just impossible to get the labels off of, some bottles like Founders, or cans like aslin, dont work well , usually bigger bottles work good though. Prairie works great. I recommend these magnet sheets,

https://www.amazon.com/Craftopia-Magnetic-Adhesive-Anything-Flexible/dp/B071L97W57/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1525196048&sr=8-3&keywords=magnet+sheets

and i use xacto knives and a craft mat like this one, https://www.amazon.com/Alvin-Professional-Self-Healing-Cutting-GBM1218/dp/B0015AOIYI/ref=sr_1_4?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1525196109&sr=1-4&keywords=craft%2Bcutting%2Bmat&dpID=51gR%252BOrM3WL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch&th=1

so you dont cut through it to the table youre on etc, the key to making your cuts nice and clean is putting a good amount of pressure during your cut and cutting fairly slowly.

use a straight edge, use metal rulers, plan out the size of the label, peel it off the can or bottle and affix it adhesive side down on the adhesive side of the magnetic backing. then just square off your edges with cuts and bingo instant fridge magnet.

You can also do it with brewery stickers as well.

Hi!

Some things about me...

  1. My favorite color is silver

  2. I was a lurker on this sub for a long time before I turned 18

  3. I am 5'7" or 5'8" not quite sure which

  4. I am in the 12th grade so I am flooded in college applications

  5. I love messing around on photoshop

  6. I want a per really bad but I'm not allowed one

  7. I can't drive

  8. I love candy a lot

And I love RAOA because gifting and being gifted gives me something to look forward to. Life can be a little rough sometimes. Other than that, watching everyone interact and be nice to each other gives me some nice fuzzy feelings.

That, combined with a hair dryer, makes it so much easier to remove labels.

ETA: I found one of these, Used, on eBay and it's perfect. It's the small travel version with a folding handle and has Tourmaline crystals in it which help reduce static electricity. It's great for my hair, as well! :)

I block the mouth end with an old cut-up q-tip after removing the mouthpiece. Sometimes I'll scrape a bit of goo right away on the top with a dry q-tip but I do the finishing steps near the end by spraying a tiny amount of 99% iso on a qtip and rub away.

I dab the inside of the oven with 70% iso and I start scraping with a knife.

I finish off the oven with a green scouring pad that I cut to 1 cm/2 and dip it in iso and I use a precision screwdriver and I rub it in the oven.

Then I remove the old q tip and use those plastic lined pipe cleaners and dip it in iso and go to town on the vapor chamber.

I also wipe off the flat mouthpiece first with a towel to remove most of the goo and then I use cold water, an old toothbrush and dawn dish soap to clean it since you should avoid using iso on rubber if possible.

To clean the screen I just burn off the stuff with my torch lighter and it's like new.

Sometime I'll scrape some crap off my half pack oven lid with a knife if it gets too bad, then I clean it with iso and a qtip.

At the end I make sure to thoroughly wipe everything with 99% iso as to not inhale small scouring pad particulates that might have been left behind.

I have a tip to help with maintenance, if you're using the original screens, use a pair of pliers and bend the sides a little bit so it's easier to remove. On that note I remove the screen after each use and wipe the pax oven/screen with a dry q-tip, I use a bamboo skewer to help pry it off (by pushing on the side of the screen) and I can use it as a tool to scrape some abv that's stuck in the oven.

I have a Pax 3, a Mighty and a Dynavap M 2017 and yet my go-to is the pax3. If you treat it right, it's amazing.

u/kcpwnsgman · 1 pointr/GunPorn

No problem. You'll probably be cleaning lint etc mostly from it if you plan to carry it around. I tend to go a little overboard when I clean my guns, but I typically don't clean my rifles/shotguns all that frequently and will go between multiple thousands of rounds before I do.

When I clean my guns I use a mat like this to absorb oils etc and this to get all of the black carbon out of it. I use these to clean the bore/inside of the barrel. I use these and these for the hard to reach places that still have something building up on them.

When you're done cleaning everything, you'll want to make sure you put oil/grease on all the components that come in contact with other parts. Basically if it rolls oil it, if it slides grease it. I use this on the slide/rails where they contact each other and use this in most other places. Then I'll wipe down the exterior with this.

Really all you have to make sure you do is get most of the debris out of the gun, and make sure you have oil on surfaces that create friction or need some kind of rust preventative coating.

u/Doobitron · 2 pointsr/vaporents

Your vapor path is probably clogged. Your unit is getting hot because it's either clogged and you can't remove the vapor and heat that's being produced, or, it's getting hot because you didnt pack it tight enough and the heater is being over worked.

https://www.amazon.com/Zen-Bundles-Cleaners-Bristle-Count/dp/B000W5R6UA

I use those to clean all my vapes. Remove the mouthpiece. Dip one in 90% iso and stick it through the vapor path holding the unit upside down. Any excess alcohol will drip down the pipe cleaner and get absorbed or drip to the floor. You dont want to risk alcohol getting underneath the silicone and getting into your electricals. The pipe cleaner will pop out the screen and you can scrub that down. Then run the pipe cleaner back and forth while twisting to get a good scrub in the vapor path. I usually have to use two pipe cleaners to get the vapor path clean. A clean pax is a happy pax.

u/NotYoursTruly · 1 pointr/saplings

I always put everything away as soon as I've finished, that way I know I'm not going to bump into it, knock it to the floor, etc.

Cleaning on a weekly basis is a good habit to get into, the alcohol and salt is pretty cheap compared to the chemical solutions that are sold that do exactly the same thing and get it no cleaner in the end. Don't forget to clean the bowl and stem. Purchase bottle brushes for the purpose and clean those off after use every week. It will keep your bong looking like new and make sure every different strain smoked tastes as it should.
Also stop by the tobacconist to purchase pipe cleaners, the ones with metal filaments in them, they do an excellent job of keeping those stems clean.

This is what the pipe cleaners I'm talking about look like. I usually cut them in half 'cause they're too long as is.

Why not just save yourself time and energy and change the design. That's what they did to make it work. I would make the legs from 4x4 (which is really 3.5 x 3.5) and the horizontals pieces from 2 x 4 (again, realy 2.5 x 3.5) Everything will match up and it will look just fine. Or just use 2x for all of it. That's the best part about seeing a design you like. Just make it work for the tools and materials you have at your disposal.
Also, another suggestion would be to add rubber tabs or felt tabs to the top of the wood for the glass to rest on. Otherwise, that glass could easily slide around. I'd go with something like this to keep the glass protected from the wood and in place: http://www.amazon.com/Self-adhesive-Clear-Rubber-Feet-Bumpons/dp/B001JASGH4

Great idea. Will really help those riding behind you understand why your not moving over. Thank you for being considerate to others!!!

As an idea to help you see behind you. You might be able to get a small flexible plastic mirror that you can attach to the brim of your helmet. If oriented the correct way, you should be able to make out if someone is behind you. In a catch, it is very unlikely to cause a secondary issue. Something like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Flexible-Mirror-Sheets-Cuttable-Plastic/dp/B01BU99K6E

They sell precut mini mirrors if you have a square shape, but I couldn't find any in the size I needed.

I bought these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01BU99K6E/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They work pretty well as long as you apply it perfectly flat. Otherwise you get sort of a fun house mirror effect.

u/eltakeiteasy · 2 pointsr/espresso

It was actually quite simple. I bought this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BU99K6E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And then I made a triangle and taped it inside the machine bottom to allow for it to stay off the drip tray. I then cut another piece and laid it on top of the triangle. I will take some pictures and another video today. I was able to clean it up a bit and make it more clean by taking off an additional layer of the protective plastic. :)

Overall, very pleased with the results. Now if I could just hit the cup :)

Amazon has full 2’x4’ sheets of Kaizen foam for $32.50, you’d just have to cut them to fit your PACKOUT. The link is for the 57mm (2-1/4”) foam, so may have to browse for the thinner ones if that’s what you need. Fastcap does sell their own adhesive to hold multiple layers together, but you could probably use something like 3M’s Super 77, which can be found at most craft/home improvement stores. Fastcap Kaizen Foam 57mm (2-1/4”) Black

Otherwise you can buy them pre-cut fromKaizeninserts.com for your particular box. Comes in different height/color options, just cost a bit more.

u/Death_has_relaxed_me · 2 pointsr/saplings

Well, you could just mouth hit it with a lighter and not inhale it. You know, until you stop tasting burnt cotton. Then just blow out all the burnt stuff.

Also, if you REALLY wanna clean it out...

Your best bet for wood is probably going to be pipe cleaners. They were originally created for cleaning wooden and clay pipes. This with a light alcohol/water mix (probably 30alcohol/70water) and a nice drying overnight should have you in ship shape.

Hope this helps.

I would not recommend the citadel tools. They are quite expensive compared to other brands. I would recommend something like this. The mold line remover I think is unnecessary. You can just as easily remove mold lines using the back edge of a hobby knife blade. the file set might be nice to have, but again, there are cheaper options.

Unless you're really committed to spending your money at that one store or whatever, I recommend checking hobby lobby (or whatever your local equivalent is) for tools and equipment. Don't buy cheap, but don't buy expensive, either. haha.

35 feet is honestly long for rope stuff, even for people who do a lot of rope stuff.

Most ropes come in 30 feet pieces and are doubled over to create more surface are, for a total of 15 feet of working length.

Many people prefer even shorter lengths, in the 23 foot range, again doubled over for more like 11 feet of working length.

Some rope packages come with 5 lengths of 30 and 2 lengths of 15. The lengths of 30 are used for complex ties, while the 15 are used for smaller ties or finishing longer ones where you need just a little more rope.

The 15 foot lengths are again doubled over for a very manageable length of 7.5 feet.

You could cut it into 3 pieces. Two 10 foot lengths and one length of 15. Knot the ends off, or use tape if you do not intend on washing it. This would give you enough for say-

This needs to be higher up. While no doubt anyone can get good cut with a hobby knife or box cutter after some practice, getting the right tool is the best way to ensure even a novice gets nice clean cuts. FoamWerks tools are the Rolls Royce of foam cutting, but even a simple tool like this $8 xacto board cutter will greatly improve your cuts and will allow you to make easy tongue and groove joints. Here's a video tutorial on how to use the board cutter.

  • Basswood is a great material to start with, you can get boxes of practice blanks fairly cheaply online. Poplar works pretty well too and is available at most home improvement stores. Pine is a pretty horrible wood to start with because the grain is loose, inconsistent and prone to splitting. Harder woods like oak will also be difficult to start with.

  • You can start cheap with an x-axto assortment like this, or get a carving knife set like this one.

  • Things like Gouges Chisels and Rasps will be necessary if you want to move on to larger pieces, but good ones are a bigger investment.

  • Spend some time in /r/woodcarving to get a feel for projects you might want to explore on your own.

  • Hit up youtube for "Wood carving basics" or "Whittling basics" You might also look into "Chip Carving" if you want to do surface designs.

I just used this stuff:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BXYWXY8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

to reassemble a Time Steel that I replaced the battery in. Worked great. It's probably not water proof anymore, but with two layers of it, it's probably at least splash resistant.

I peeled the previous double stick material off (it's actually pretty easy with just fingernails alone) and then placed one layer on the plastic gasket, and one layer on the underside of the screen. Getting the screen reconnected was a little tricky and required the use of a long thin metal tool, you might be okay with just a flathead screwdriver.

The local Home Despot is the best place to get started.
You want the kind or rope without a core like
twisted nylon

There are some good resources online for how to do ties. Start with twisted monk

And buy a set of EMT shears
Important in case of emergency either physical or mental.

Very important, it's ok to tap out and stop right in the middle, by either side. Set up a safe word.

After that spend a bunch of time talking about it. What you both liked, didn't like, want to try..

Instead of foam you could use bits of old sweater. Easier to felt into, and they have a nice weight to them. As for wire, I really like using actual pipe cleaners, not the craft kind. They have really hard bristles that catch the wool and make a great base. They’re not perfect for tiny details, cause they can be spiky, but they are quite strong.

+1 to just ISO (99% OR 91% Isopropyl alcohol) and salt. Though I learned the hard way that if you're cleaning a grinder just use ISO. The salt makes it more difficult to reclaim the goods.

This process will take a couple/few hours but just let it sit in a bag, shake it around every so often, and of course one bag per item if it's glass. You don't want to lose a piece in the cleaning. Overnight is great too if you want. I strongly recommend pipe cleaners with hard bristles too.

Very nice.
I am currently working on some foamcore storage for TI3 as well. Basing mine off of a post on BGG from a guy using chitboard/cardstock.

To aid in 45 degree cuts, take a peek at this: Amazon linky

Thank you for the link. I do like how you cut the box size down. Very well executed.

on a side note, you might take a look at a Hobby Lobby if you have one near you. Usually, the foamboard is beside the framing section (at least at the 4 in my city they are, I assume they use a similar floor plan at each store) Well, there are some vertical storage bins that contain thick matboard, mostly used for framing. At my locations they have large sheets of 3mm foamboard (about HALF the size of the traditional foamboard) which is REALLY nice to work with.
I'll admit, two problems are they only come in LARGE boards (which I usually cut down when I get home for storage and so it doesn't warp) and that I have only seen it in white with white core.

I am a fan of the black/black core myself, but am learning to like this thin/white FB as it allows me a little more room when it comes to designing inserts. (as sometimes that 2mm difference is HUGE)

I liked the recent post with the bicycle bell mod, really anything to enhance safety, especially in NYC, where jaywalkers cross roads diagonally with their heads buried in their phones and then proceed to do the "evade me" shimmy when they finally see you coming.

I use it sparingly, 120 dB is on the human pain threshold for hearing, so it's quite jarring. A quick toot toot tends to resolve most antsy situations, but a nice sustained hard whistle can even help you be heard from inside yellow cabs.

Is the screen or the pipe itself getting clogged. For the pipe I recommend the pipe cleaners that have metal bristles mixed in with the soft ones as well. As far as the screen I've found that if you make sure to hit the bowl and empty the ash and scrape the screen the second you are done, before the resin and ash can harden it helps keep it clean. Don't leave half smoked bowls. If it is attached and won't clean well it may be worth cutting out and leaving just enough around the edge to hold another screen in place, and just replace that one when it gets clogged.

Edit these are the pipe cleaners i'm talking about

Good Job! Remember there are no rules in quilting except have fun. I like your fabric choices. And if that's your first block, you're a natural.

I read another comment about mistakes; no one will notice them unless you point them out. Also, in Japanese art, there is a thing called wabi-sabi which is sometimes brought about by an "intentional mistake" to demonstrate that the art was made by a human hand. Something too rigid in it's lines can be cold and unfeeling. (wabi-sabi can also be about finding the beauty in naturally aged and worn objects.) Beauty is in the worn spots and imperfect lines.

PS, if you're looking for really sharp scissors ever, KAI, they make different scissors for cutting fabric or nipping threads. These are great if you ever get into doing a hawaiian quilt where you cut through 8 layers of fabric for the design.

Not for this price, they don't :)

And my local shop doesn't, actually. At least, they never do when I've shopped there, but they're much more porn oriented, the smoking accessories are relegated to a corner and most of it is way overpriced glass pieces. I wish there was a proper smoke shop like some of the ones I've seen online around here.

Scotty Peelers are amazing! I bought some of them specifically for removing stickers from Gamestop cases after I bought them after I got tired of peeling them off by hand, having sticky residue left behind, then having my game cases stick together in the shelf.

Any small amount of residue left behind can easily be wiped away with Goo Gone and a washcloth.

Bring headphones (I listened to audio books). Make sure each team member has their regular department, and have a sign off so u know who did what and that it was finished without hunting them down. Plan your path through the department. With the paper tags u have to tear learn the order and tear them b4 u go out so u have a stack and dont have to tear as you go. When putting out tags do one type at a time, i.e. I started with peg hook tags - square tags - rectangle - etc. This is so u aren't switching between piles or searching. Other than all that just learn to go into zombie mode and it will fly by. You can try a tool like the "Scotty Peeler" if your having issues getting the tags off. I normally put the peg labels on lightly so they peel easy and for things that I know change every week I put a little hanging over so I can tear and go (some leaders dont like this). Thanks! I have a bunch of large thick sheets of styrofoam and a good selection of small Xacto knives (http://www.amazon.com/Xacto-X5282-Basic-Knife-Set/dp/B00004Z2UB).

I can't give any tips other than just make sure you plan ahead. In my case I went for a very damaged and abandoned look, so any cutting mistakes would only make it better.

Near the end my dad made an electric styrofoam cutter for me (Basically a wire in between a coping saw with a current going through it). This made cutting thin bits significantly easier and faster, but most of what you see here has been done with the knifes.

I also advice to go with ISO 90 type Styrofoam, as this is much more compressed and will likely look a lot better. I used ISO 60 Styrofoam here, as I could not find 90.

Just take your time, be patient, and it will all work out!

Gore-Tex should work, I used one on a pair on snowboarding pants about 8 years ago and the patch is still holding strong through 5 or 6 washings. I don't see why it wouldn't work on a sleeping pad. I actually carry one in my repair kit out on the trail for a sleeping pad or rain jacket/pants haven't used it yet on those items but I know it worked damn well on my pants.

apply these rubber feet on the bottoms of your HHKB. You might be able to find cheaper ones at a hardware store.

u/craznazn247 · 6 pointsr/todayilearned

Anything with gold leaf on it is just capitalizing on the perceived worth of gold to massively inflate the price they charge. And yes, gold is very expensive, but gold leaf isn't. Gold leaf is so incredibly thin that you could coat a whole burger with it for less than $5.

Saffron is expensive but the amount you'd actually use is a few bucks at most.

Same with the rest of the ingredients. The Kobe beef (why would you even use Kobe just to grind it up when you can use regular beef and throw in some extra fat, but whatever).

That burger costs maybe $200 to make at most, most of which is just the wasteful use of Kobe beef. That burger could probably be replicated for under $100 with Wagyu subbed for the Kobe.

Take the screen out and hold it Mouthpiece up, and then scrub the inside with an ISO dampened Q-tip. Then, use the pipe cleaners that have the little hard bristles stemming out from them. Fold it in half, and dip the folded end in the ISO. Use that as a makeshift "wire brush" to get the remaining browning off.
