So people are always going to slip stuff into some boxes some where.

Depending on your type of unit and how far away from home you guys are it might just be extra protein bars or it might be a ps4 and a tv.

I ALWAYS recommend:

Baby wipes

Literally all of your underwear, plus some you are about to go buy.

All your socks...plus some more that i think you should also go buy.

Pack of protein bars from GNC

Gum

Please bring a bunch of deoderant and tooth paste/tooth brush. Being in the field is not a free pass to just be nasty. Trust me you will get the rep for it and if you are working around people that aren't bumming it they will move you away fast.

Bring a brand new razor because you are going to be expected to shave. Pouring water on your face from a canteen then shaving is already difficult....with an old razor its even worse.

Stuff a bunch of plastic grocery bags into your ruck somewhere and you can use them to hold your dirty clothes.

Chances are you will be able to bring a duffel bag and then ALSO your ruck. If you don't smoke or dip grab a pack of smokes or two plus some grizzly winter green and you can trade it away.

Walmart 10mg melatonin chewables. Sleeping in a new place that sucks with a bunch of loud fuckers isn't the easiest. This should help as a sleep aid. I take four sometimes just to pass out. Bottle should be like $6 for 100 chewies.

A Power strip of your own. These can be really helpful when everyone is already plugged in and there are no more sockets.

A portable battery pack. Something off amazon is just fine. I recommend the solar powered one. Man that shit is a life saver. Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/25000mAh-Hiluckey-Compatible-Smartphones-Waterproof/dp/B07FMFGGNR/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=solar+power+battery+charger&qid=1562521215&s=gateway&sr=8-4

Bring a book. Something fun. Maybe some sudoku. Find something you are interested in. That will make the time go faster. If you have a tablet buy a nice protective case and get it charged off that portable battery pack or find a way to make it happen.

Also, plastic ziplock bags are your friend. Not that slide zipper shit and not those cheap ones either but the red and blue make purple things. If you bring one just big enough to put your phone in its water proof. You can use the keypad and everything through the bag easy. It saves from rain and dust and whatever else might happen.

Bring a few sizes and a bunch of extras. You hand that shit out and people will think you're ass is merlin when its about to rain. People remember that stuff. I'm going to add this to the main post but I wanted to make sure you saw it.

Two pairs of ear buds from target. Something super cheap that you don't mind losing or breaking. Probably 5 a pop on amazon or something. These are just to get you through.

Bring extra power charging cords. You will also want to keep these in your sight at all times.

A good multi tool is nice and it can bail you out / make you the hero.

A small flash light that packs some power. You will be dumbfounded how dark it gets and you don't want to be walking into anything while your taking that midnight wiz.

https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Bright-Flashlight-Wsiiroon-Water-Resistant-Batteries/dp/B07537C91H/ref=sr_1_13?crid=Z2D1DNX2LIX1&keywords=led+flashlight&qid=1562521670&s=gateway&sprefix=led+fla%2Caps%2C166&sr=8-13

What is your MOS? It helps to determine what you are going to be doing. If you're in the TOC you can always charge your phone or your battery pack in there. If you are one of those high speeds who are out in the field....probably not.

Travel pillow and a small air mattress. Man those things are nice. A small twin will run you maybe $30. Super worth it. People might laugh but its way better than one of those metal cots. Bring a travel blanket like that woobie. That thing can be light but can also hold in some heat.

Find someone that you know has been in the unit for a while and ask them what they normally bring. Chances are they've been to an AT with the unit and know the shit that the command tries to pull. Like whats going to not be allowed and what is fair game. Maybe someone sneaking in an extra box that you can toss a few items in. People normally try to look out for others in the guard especially in their section. The last thing you want is some private with not shit, ill prepared, no resources and stinking in your section making you look bad. So your leadership should at least give you some type of leeway.

If you can be a part of the team that goes to the gas station to refill the gas canteens (if thats a thing for your unit) that power the generators make sure you get involved with that somehow or find someone that is. This can bail you out hard in a pinch and then you can re up on supplies. Maybe bring some cash with you in case you have to slide someone some grease money.

Duolingo is a great app to learn another language when you have well....not shit going on. Check it out. I don't know if you need an internet connection to use it or not. Mango language services is amazing as well and you get it free with an MWR online account.

And private....Please remember to drink water.

The switch definitely has the possibility for many accessories. I'll link all the stuff I've bought at the end because I would recommend all of them

There is built in storage but not enough. I will recommend any micro SD card that's either 64 or 128 gb depending on how many games you plan on downloading. If you're going mostly mobile eshop games would definitely be more convenient.

As for other items, I love my pro controller but its not a necessity. I also only use it at home so it might not be for you.

You need a case for it, no two ways about it. The good news is that they are pretty cheap. There's cases that just carry the console, that carry the console and some extras, and that carry pretty much everything you could want to carry. Unless you're taking the dock often, I would just suggest a case with some extra storage.

I'd suggest a battery bank. There are a million options out there, and most of it has to do with cost. Just buy a size you like from a trusted brand like anker, ravpower, or aukey.

You also need a screen protector, because the plastic screen is not exactly durable. Anything works, but I would recommend tempered glass.

I've done this. It's not trivial, but it's also not all that difficult, either. I'm going to assume that you want a live view of the device (meaning you'd be able to view where the car currently is located, and track it in near-real-time), not a data logged view (meaning you'd drive around, offload the data later, then view it).

This is going to be a very high-level overview; you will likely require some kind of coding and database experience, along with familiarity with the Google Maps JavaScript API. It would simply be beyond the scope of this sub (and my willingness) to post every line of code and every step of setting things up.

First, the equipment you'll need for the Pi:

  • A working pi, obviously, with OS installed and configured
  • A USB GPS receiver (like this one)
  • A USB 2G/3G/4G dongle (like this one, with associated SIM card (if applicable) and airtime

First, you need to get the Pi communicating on the mobile network with the 2G/3G/4G aircard. You can follow the instructions here, but realize that tutorial references a specific 3G breakout board for the Pi. You're welcome to use that instead of the 3G one I linked above.

Once you have the Pi communicating on the mobile network, you need to get the GPS receiver working. You can follow a tutorial for that here, realizing again that this tutorial references a Pi-specific GPS receiver, but should work with the USB one I linked above.

Once you have those two things, you'll need to set up some kind of server somewhere to receive the data from the Pi (I used a standard LAMP setup: Linux, Apache, mySQL, php). A simple home-based server accessible over the internet, or perhaps an Azure or Google Cloud VM would work. In my solution, I simply did this:

  • On the Pi, write a script that, on a timed interval (30 secs or so, adjust to your liking), requested GPS data from the USB GPS device, parsed it, then sent that info over the 3G network to the server. The server would then take that data, parse it out again, and insert it into a database (mySQL for simplicity).

  • Then, I created a web page on the server that overlaid this GPS data from the mySQL database on top of a Google Map. I wrote it such that it would automatically update the GPS data on the map on a timed interval, so I could load the page and watch the slowest game of reverse-Pac-Man ever, so to speak.

  • Then, I configured the Pi to execute any scripts, GPS daemons, and 3G connectivity processes on boot, so that I could simply power up the Pi headless (using a USB battery pack, like this, for portability) and start tracking immediately.

Like I said, it's a straightforward list of steps to take, but requires some coding and database knowledge in order to completely pull together all the pieces. There might be "plug-and-play" solutions available (I did this back with the original Pi B, so some years ago), but I did it all custom just as a proof-of-concept.

I work closely with telemetrics and GPS tracking as my profession, and honestly, unless you're looking to hone your skills or have a hobby/pet project, there are off-the-shelf solutions that would get you up and running with vehicle/personnel tracking much, much quicker and easier.

Edit: I'll keep adding things as I remember them. I'm not adding the usual stuff like laptops, ipads, gym gear, etc, because those seem...common sense?

  • Cold meds with pseudoephedrine
  • Magnets (for lockers if you get one)
  • 3M command hooks of varying weight limits
  • Strong plastic coat hangars
  • 550 cord (I'd say no more than 30' of it)
  • Headlamp with red and white light (find one that you don't have to go "through" the white to get to the red!)
  • 2-3 good quality plastic clothes pins to hold curtains closed or some other task (the ones linked are identical to the ones at the Dollar Store for, I think, $4 for 12)
  • Knife sharpener
  • Pocket knife
  • Suction cup hook for the shower (if you use a bath scrubby)
  • Nail clippers and nail file
  • Small FA kit (bandaids, etc)
  • Small sewing kit with the right colours of thread
  • GoToobs for stuff like shampoo and body wash (and aloe gel if you burn)
  • Bose noise cancelling headphones (with a spare battery)
  • Camera (don't be the guy that brings a DSLR with 5 lenses)
  • Couple of power adapters if power is different
  • Water bottle (and denture cleaning tablets to clean it if there's no bottle brush)
  • Couple of locks (combo or keyed-alike, varying sizes)
  • Travel blanket
  • Inflatable neck pillow (the best one I've ever used)
  • Anker USB battery bank (love Anker products!)
  • Anker PowerPort
  • Depending on living accommodations, I also have a "travel kitchen" that I take with me that has a good Santoku knife, cutting board, pepper grinder and garlic press.
  • 2-3 tide pods because it could be a few days or a week before you get to the PX
  • If you know your sleeping arrangements, buy a "bed in a bag" for that bed size. Nothing like having your own good sheets to slide into after a rough day. Make sure you wash everything before heading over, so they're soft and ready to go when you get there.
  • A collapsable shoe organizer that you can use to store gitch, socks, t-shirts, etc, or even a collapsable sweater organizer (or two) if you want more horizontal space and less vertical.
  • If you're coming home or going somewhere on HLTA, don't forget to pack a civvie-pattern backpack. Don't be the guy wandering around a foreign airport wearing your day pack and combat boots in jeans.
  • Birthday/Anniversary/special event cards that you can mail from your location (shows you were thinking of them well in advance of your departure and before the event). Bonus points if it's a mushy anniversary card to a significant other, ensuring that your return is "extra special".
u/glass_head420 · 2 pointsr/bonnaroo

I know you already bought it but it's easy to ask around and borrow a rubber mallet if you don't have one. This list should help you out. Other than that make sure you get the following things.

  • Water bladder and small backpack- Absolute must get to stay hydrated and comfortably hold everything you need while you're on the go

  • External Charger- I've had good luck with this one. It can charge an iphone around 5+ times before it runs out. It's a real lifesaver

  • Camp chair

  • Headlamp/ Lantern

u/jediaelthewise · 2 pointsr/Nerf

I have been working on this over the past 2 years. This will be my 4th HvZ game using this rig. We normally have a game in the fall and then in the spring. I got the idea when the magstrike saved my bacon and I wanted to fix the small bladder issue. The speed of them was awesome but pumping it every time was a pain. I looked up some other mods and didn't see anything I liked. I decided I didn't want to the noise of an air compressor so I went with a large backpack mounted tank.

The magstrikes don't fire much stronger than a stock one. I shot them with a stock magstrike and matched them pretty close. Since basically its just a magstrike with a huge bladder, there wasn't much argument against it. I had the mods come personally over to check it out before hand. The fact that I continue to improve on it and make sure it's safe has earned me respect and I even have people referred to me for help to keep them within reasonable limits.

I've worked up a master part list for you with links of where to get most of it too:

Nintendo Switch AC Adapter|$29.99|Amazon US|This is the only charger you should use with the dock but it's big and doesn't work great with any phones

Cables

I won't list prices here since they fluctuate a lot. Some of the chargers listed above have a non-removable cable. All the others (except the iPad charger) require a USB C-to-C cable.

USB C-to-C: For the Macbook, Google, SONEic, and battery pack chargers listed above. Here are a few on Amazon: AmazonBasics,
Anker, Cable Matters, Aukey.

USB A-to-C: The iPad charger is the only one that gives good charging speeds with these. The 5ft cable included with the Pro Controller works. Here are some others on Amazon: AmazonBasics, Anker, Cable Matters, Aukey.

No matter which charger you use, it doesn't matter whether the cable says it's USB 2.0, USB 3.0, or USB 3.1. They all charge at the same speed. Just make sure it has the correct plug shape on each end, that it has good reviews at a reputable merchant, and that it's long enough for how you want to use it.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/bicycletouring

I am finding these from easyAcc are pass through and have good ratings on Amazon. They dont have a lipstick battery available though. I might be fine with that though for time being since I have to carry a bigger battery with me anyway for general use.

I am also waiting for confirmation now on this one: https://www.amazon.com/25000mAh-Hiluckey-Compatible-Smartphones-Waterproof/dp/B07FMFGGNR/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?keywords=solar+charger+for+cell+phone&qid=1570427660&sprefix=solar+charger&sr=8-7

Since I want a battery backup that will last, AND have solar charge capabilities for extra boost, i.might just utilize that instead if it has pass through.

I still would like a pass through lipstick size one so I can not care, buy a few, and throw away a I deplete them rather than take away the life of a more expensive one.

I am not educated enough on the subject to figure out due diligence on which route is the truer cost effective route. My assumption is the thruw away lipstick batteries though on the matter. Plus I dont have to have the big clunky battery cost to cockpit taking up real estate if I dont have to.

Right now my goal is best solution for all.my needs because I am time sensitive rather than finding perfect solution today, but still would like to know what is best route that is cost effective for me.

I have the Omni-C (https://www.omnicharge.co/products/omni-20-usb-c/), the Hyperjuice (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/hyperjuice-world-s-most-powerful-usb-c-power-bank/x/18292813#/) and Jackery Supercharge(https://www.amazon.com/Jackery-Supercharge-26800mAh-Compatible-g-MacBook/dp/B0791BGYS3/ref=sr_1_13?crid=1SZPBXXYZO97).

Omni would be my favorite but its shape just doesn't work well with my packing setup. On longer trips, when I check baggage, I bring it with me. But it sucks in laptop bags and EDC. I do like the setup and operation of it so much that I ordered the new Mobile series (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/omni-mobile-series/x/18292813#/). I will appreciate the wireless charging.

The Hyperjuice is pretty nice. Its newish to me but I've taken it on last 2 trips (both 5 day trips) and its performed well with no issues. It's the fastest of the 3 to recharge. It will probably be my main charger going forward. The 100W is nice for bigger laptops. I'm not a big fan of the lights to show levels, especially both of other 2 have % countdown in numbers.

The Jackery has been my main EDC. Its the smallest in physical size, has a numerical countdown and comes with a nice set of cables and carrying case. My only issue is it only has the 1 usb-c and 1 USB-A ports. I would like an extra port, since I share the pack with my lady. It's also the slowest to refill to full of the 3.

u/dieterschaumer · 1 pointr/EDC

Amazon sells a bunch of rando small battery banks, but I'm afraid I don't have experience with them to be sure of their quality. The smallest kind that are reliably found by reliable makers tend to be ~2500-3000mAh and are around the size of that anker powercore mini, and the reason for that is they just shove an 18650 cell in there for cost effectiveness.

I can recommend the Xiaomi mi compact; that's worked very well and I like the design. ITs very flat... but pretty wide, as its a honking 10000 mAh. https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Compact-10000mAh-Charging/dp/B075Q5G3JN/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1525472326&sr=1-1&keywords=xiaomi+mi+10000&dpID=41m8f9S79AL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

They do make a 5000mah one, but I don't have experience with it.
https://www.amazon.com/Xiaomi-Powerbank-External-Motorola-Smartphone/dp/B00Q8SLMDW/ref=pd_sbs_107_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00Q8SLMDW&pd_rd_r=PHDGH98YPPS4TTQHAEZY&pd_rd_w=it8DL&pd_rd_wg=hjqsF&psc=1&refRID=PHDGH98YPPS4TTQHAEZY

There was this power bracelet thing that was kickstarted but it was tiny, like 100mAh or something, Not worth your time.

I personally use a battery case, but that may or may not be available for your phone and may make your phone too big to even fit in your pocket. What phone do you have? Alternatively, if its one of the few with a removable battery, you could buy a spare one.

u/nintendomech · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

For my car I have an Anker USB 3 dual car charger. Higher end one and it works great

As for battery packs I use my existing Anker battery packs and they work great as well. I'm not about to spend a bunch of more money on device specific stuff when the stuff I have works great.

I've been using my stuff since day one with out a problem.

USB car charger

Great for when I'm on the go and want to minimize what I want to bring. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K702S66/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_7cOIzbGBMSSM8

Longer trips when I'm not in the car

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ISO92V2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FeOIzb9NRB5HX

I just don't recommend cheap power hardware. Anker has been a great brand for me and they have good quality.

Might be late but I bought this one http://www.amazon.com/20000mAh-Compact-Portable-Charger-External/dp/B01191S0VY for Coachella, charged my Iphone 5S about 4 times, my brother's HTC One 2 times, and my other brother's Samsung S6 Edge once and there was still 12%. I liked this one alot more than any others I've come across because it charged quick, had two ports (still charged quick while both were in use) and it has a flashlight great for festival camping. It's pretty thick (about 1 pound in weight) but definitely a good purchase for $30.00
edit: and the cable it comes with to charge is an android cable so theres that.

I've never actually used a power bank but have used lots of other products from Anker and was very happy with the quality. I think the RAVpower units are good as well but personally to consider Aukey a step below Anker in terms of quality.

I'd recommend this if you just want a cute lil wee one that you can carry around with you and will still charge your phone a couple times: https://www.amazon.ca/Upgraded-Anker-Candy-Bar-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B06XS9RMWS/

But you can get ones with much higher capacity and faster charging speeds if you spend $10-20 more - depends how portable you need it to be. Just search "Anker power bank"

I used to cool my phone in the freezer for 2-3 minutes after it gets hot, even though people advise against it due to the humidity buildup lol. If you do do this, just do not forget your phone in the freezer!

That sponge idea is actually very smart though. It kind of is a waste of water imo, but like you said, it's a super cheap solution!

For a $15-$20 solution, I use this phone radiator and it works amazingly! It's basically a fan that clips onto your phone.

Remember folks, the battery is literally the stomach of your moeblob. Battery stress will be directly voiced as stomach problems, so avoid stressing your moeblob with deep charge cycles and rapid charging; carelessly crashing below 30% is just really rude anyway. Make sure she's relaxed and cool before and during charging. If she's a brainy one, ensure she's not overthinking anything as that alone will heat her up.

Use a high-quality charger and/or cable with a good powerline filter/power surge protector. I like to use ones from Anker. If you have to feed her on the go, I recommend this right here. This will provide her with tons of clean, tasty power.

When it comes time to replace her battery, ensure you can get a replacement from her manufacturer, or an OE equivalent from a reputable company such as LG, Panasonic, Sanyo, or Duracell. You might also want to look into Li-Fe batteries as the lithium-iron phosphate chemical is a lot more stable and has 4x the number of charge cycles. Unfortunately, the Li-Fe batteries aren't as compact and don't have the same voltage as Li-On batteries, so I can only run these in my two larger moeblobs that can compensate for the voltage. They tell me all sorts of good things though, especially that they aren't exhausted and as ravenously hungry, even when being feisty at 20%.

I hope I helped someone. All of these tips will prevent your precious moeblob from being BURNED ALIVE IN A MOLTEN BALL OF LITHIUM ION FIRE

(THESE ARE NOT TRIGGERS OR A CONTROLLER) I have a iPhone 8 Plus Btw, This is a phone cooling pad they are so useful , but no one talks about them. Basically it’s a fan that cools your phone but it helps so much, on iPhone if your phone overheats the screen starts to dim and your hands start to burn(no duh), but with this my phone didn’t Dim at all and my hands were cool! The one I have is great but I don’t recommend if you have small hands, there are a lot out there too.

This is the age old question: is there a battery bank that can charge a Nintendo Switch and iPhone X at the same time? I’ve spent a weeks worth of online research trying to figure out. No luck.

The plan is to buy one battery bank for all my devices and stick it in my tech bag. The Nintendo Switch needs that USB C to USB C Charge, and I plan on picking up an iPhone X during the holidays, which can use a quick charging usb A 3.0 Port. I don’t want to get a battery case for the iPhone X because I want to remain to that sleek new design Apple was going for, and I currently have a pretty bulky phone and want to downsize it (iPhone 6 Plus with Mophie Battery Case). Same thing applies to my Nintendo Switch. Keep it elegant.

Most banks on the market only have one USB C Port (most likely input and output), along with one or two usb 2.0/3.0 ports. So I’ve found some options for around $50 that have a quick charging 3.0 port (which works for the iPhone X, 8, 8 Plus) and a separate USB C port for the Switch, but I’m not sure if I can charge both devices at once. If they can, how well? These three, based off the descriptions and people’s Q&As, supports charging the iPhone and the Switch. But nothing on BOTH. Here are the links:

You sure these are lighter than just Anker's batteries?

Your setup: 9180mAh total/6.8oz = 1350mAh/oz

Anker PowerCore 10,000mAh: 10,000mAh/6.35oz = 1575mAh/oz

Anker Astro E1 6,700mAh: 6,700mAh/4.2oz = 1595mAh/oz

Anker PowerCore 3350mAh: 3,350mAh/2.56oz = 1308mAh/oz

It's neat but unless you really only need exactly 1 or 2 of those battery packs (and care about ~0.5oz savings), I'd say just stick with Anker due to convenience and safety.

EDIT: If you got a few of the exact same batteries, you could potentially build a small plastic attachment with a single circuit board and just swap out the batteries. That would be both cheaper and lighter. The extra USB ports are pretty unnecessary.

I keep my charge threshold at 75, 95 and get about 3 hours on the estimate but 6 realistically but I use full wifi and full brightness all the time due to the eyes. If you got normal vision it will last a long time at like 60% brightness. I researched a lot of the anker models and surprisingly no, they do not all support quick charge 2.0/3.0. So make sure to verify if you choose one of their models. I ended up going with a Ravpower unit that has QC 3.0 support (which is backwards 2.0 compatible) and supports fast charging of the battery itself (a feature not all battery packs have, and to me a nice to have). It's a 20100 mAh unit, and it's massive, like the size of an old laptop power brick. Bigger than I would like, but I want to make sure on long trips I can charge my phone, tablet, and possibly my Switch. This is what I went with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IVMXW7G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Another small arguable benefit to that one is it supports USB-C input as well as micro-USB, which I thought might come in handy since most of the time I'll have just a USB-C cable around for the Note9.

So I'm travelling the world and working along the way. I'm just using my surface pro 4 and it's external battery (RAVPower 23000 mAH) for the last 10 months now and I just walked into my room to a bloated battery. I didn't bring the original charger as it took up more space. Now I'm afraid that I'll be running out of a way to recharge soon, it doesn't look like MS officially sells Surfaces in Colombia and being on the road a lot I rather have a new battery pack than just a charger, although admittedly I now see the use in having one as a backup.

I found the Qi-Infinity battery-https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0183UJ2SY) which charger can be used directly on the Surface Pro too. So that looks like a perfect option, not sure yet if they deliver here (in time) but I'll hopefully hear back from them about that soon. If they don't deliver or if there is a good alternative I can find in the area I'd love to hear about it.

Help... i'm not sure if I can still charge using that battery pictured above.

I use this 20,000mah as my emergency backup, or long day charger

and this 6,000mah for when im just riding my bike around for a few hours or at work.

both of them charge fast enough that I can not only keep my phone on an open the entire time, but itll actually gain charge while playing. I bought the 6,000mah first then found the 20,000 on sale on Amazon the very next day. If I had to choose only one I would just buy the 20,000 because its like 10 bucks more expensive right now for 3x the charge. It is pretty big tho, fits in a pocket but its heavy so i prefer to use a backpack or manpurse

Usually they'll have one of those small honda generators. They're really quiet. You're not supposed to have generators in GA, IIRC, but lol rules. They're hot items for theft too, so be careful.

Alternatively, I've seen people use the power packs like for car emergencies that have the regular plug outlets. They'll die pretty quickly with continuous use, so sometimes people bring a fee, but they're easily $100 each(example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYJVFNK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LemSCb8F83D33) . They take forever to recharge, so it's not likely you'll be able to do it at the park. Or you can get this beast: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0196GQAKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1bmSCbK96YA6M

The real LPT is engineering a deep cycle battery into a custom made box. Like this: https://www.arkportablepower.com/blogs/news/48712645-cool-diy-battery-box-on-reddit

Most these crews have this stuff laying around from hunting/camping/fishing/etc. So the investment curve is steep for strictly festivals.

I purchased the Xiaomi Mi Powerbank Pro of Amazon for around $20-$25, and it was absolutely the value I found. It's 10,000mAh and meets all your criteria, and unlike most Xiaomi products provided in the states, this actually comes with a warranty. I've been impressed. I haven't needed to find out how warranty support is with them luckily. Chinese manufactures can be...difficult with support here

Spent a month in New Zealand, I'm on my second month in Australia, headed to SE Asia in a couple weeks.

I bought the i5/8gb/256gb model and a 200gb micro SD card.

Battery hasn't been a problem, though it's no marathon man. Honestly, I bought a USB battery pack and wish I had just gone ahead and gotten this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0183UJ2SY/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?qid=1458765752&sr=8-16&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=qi+power+bank

Not because I have had trouble with the SP4 specifically but because there are times when it's nice to get a boost and it'd be convenient to be able to top off the Pro as well. Since I'm carrying the battery pack anyway, it may as well cover all devices.

If you have an MS store nearby (or, hell, just a best buy or something), just ask if they can let you try one in your lap. They might have an employee model or can detatch it for you.

Switch Charger Speed Rating: Superb
Switch Charger Safety Rating: ★★★☆☆

  • Capacity will recharge a Switch at least 4 times.
  • Includes a USB-C cable, but see my notes.

    *****

EDIT: Raised safety and speed rating based on specs pictured on Amazon.

This appears to be a new product, replacing the Jackery Titan X. Jackery has some popular products. Their Bolt is a great phone power bank with built-in cables for iPhone and Android. I have a couple of notes on this model. Keep in mind I'm looking at what information is available online and I haven't touched one of these.

  • They don't list power output specifics on Amazon and the product isn't on their site at all. /u/cyclist230 found an image on the Amazon listing that showed specs printed on the power bank, so we'll go with that. Still, it is a pet peeve of mine when they don't list specs one can find.

  • The USB-C power output specs listed are outside USB PD standards. The box listed 5V/2.25A, 9V/2.25A, 15V/2.25A, 20V/2.25A. The standards for USB PD 2.0/3.0 at 45W would be 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/2.25A. Now maybe they got lazy with the labeling and it is to standards and they just listed the lower 2.25A for the 20V. We don't know which it is until someone runs a power meter on it. The 2.25A is more than the Switch needs. But I don't like a product that either can't list specs correctly or goes against a standard most of its competitors can accommodate. Until I see confirmation of the power output specs this is the reason for the lowered safety rating.

  • The specs in the image are to PD 2.0/3.0 standards. We'll go with that and I've raised the safety rating to the same as other USB-C power banks.

  • I don't like the included cable. On the plus side it is USB-C to USB-C, with the add-on being C-to-A verses the other way around. There's no listing of the 56k Ohm resistor with the C-to-A piece, so I wouldn't use it. This cable is also new and has no reviews on Amazon yet and no USB-IF certification listed. It would not be my first choice for a C-to-C cable.

As for review analysis, FakeSpot gives it an F while ReviewMeta gives it a Pass. As it is new I would expect seeder reviews, that's just how the industry works. Overtime I would expect nature reviews to outweigh the starter reviews.

Yes, When I had my EV I would drive under 50 miles almost every day.

Regarding the product i couldn't find a data sheet or specifications on your website.

That said from photos, and comments here, it appears to be a 5kWh external battery pack, able to be charged from a standard wall outlet (using a tiny wall wart), and with an integrated inverter powerful enough to run a factory volt EVSE (I assume something like 15A at 110V?)

Your website shows a slim female carrying the device with one hand, and you advertise the price as USD999. You state on reddit the current charge time from a wall outlet is 6 hours.

There are a few technical issues with the above that you really should look into.

Weight As an example, the chevy bolt battery pack holds 60kWh, and weights 440kg. Your pack is to be 12 times smaller, so weight will be at least 37 kg (prob more as packaging in a smaller pack will be less efficient. A 2kW inverter will be 5 - 8 kg, therefore your minimum weight will be 42 - 45kg's. No way your slim female is carrying that with one hand wearing heels.

Cost A 6.4kWh powerwall runs as USD3000. Your price is under a third of that, and you need to include an inverter & charger that will run to hundreds of dollars...

Wall Wart To charge in 6 hours, you will need to charge at 830Watts. I don't think any wall wart goes that high.

-------------------------------------------------

Take a look at what is already on the market:

0.4kWh, 300W output battery bank for USD390, 12.36 pounds

Anker 0.4kWh, USD500, 9.36 pounds

1.1kWh, 1100W output, USD1,749, 20 pounds

You specs require something about 10 to 12 times the capacity / inverter power as the first two items, and about 5 times the capacity / inverter power of the last one.

As such I would expect you would need to price your device at around USD 6000, and expect it to weigh 100pounds (roughly 50kg).

With those numbers the proposal is a lot less attractive. 50kg's is very hard to move by hand, and $6000 is a lot of money to tie up in a battery bank. (I wouldn't want to leave that unattended as I charged during the day). Also that money would go a long way in terms of just buying a longer range EV in the first place (Price jump from a 30kWh Leaf to a 60kWh Chevy Bolt in the USA is $6000) and that buys you a 6x the additional range of your 5kWh power pack, with convenance to boot... (no charging car and power pack each night (just charge car), no lugging around heavy power pack. no need to change except at night (every second night) for your 40/ 50 mile days)...

The vest is a MUCH better approach than a belt clip, imo. I don't even notice it's there even with the bigger 26k battery. Love it. I'm imagining when I finally pickup a high end gaming notebook and slide it in the back for fully untethered gaming. Of course I'd use the wired setup for that :)

u/daewootech · 1 pointr/TeslaLounge

not sure what the recharge rate is but i would imagine unless your directly tethering to the terminals then you would be limited to the fuse amperage, typically like 15 amps on a cigarette plug i think?

back on the main topic, maybe something in this article might help? https://teslatap.com/articles/12-volt-battery-compendium/ they dont mention exact rates that i saw but it says "

>The Gen 2 DC-DC converter in the refreshed Model S accepts 220 to 430 VDC at 15 amps, and outputs 9 to 16 VDC. When outputting 12 VDC, it can deliver about 200 amps.
>
>The Model 3 integrates the charger and the DC-DC converter into a single package, the PCS (Power Conversion System)

IMHO i would just invest in one of those Portable power stations from the likes of Jackery, Anker or Goal Zero especially seeing as how the replacement battery is going for about $500 on Amazon.

If you want something slim and small then look at this one. I got one last week and I'm loving it so far. Really slim and and really nice. The 10000mAh Anker is probably better if you want something that will last a really long time. For me, 4500mAh is enough since I never drive very far and size was really important (it's 126 x 64 x 10 mm while the phone is 133.9 x 68.7 x 9.1 mm). After 2 straight hours of streaming music and running navigation it charged the phone by 30% and still had around 25% of its own capacity left (phone was at 100%).

Also, why not just get a car charger? External batteries are great, but if you're in the car for a long time it's cheaper and easier to just have a car charger

Hi there! here are some suggestions for power banks that satisfy any needs you can have for the purpose of charging the pixel line and like devices

I highly recommend these ones because I have had experience using these and feel they check all my boxes. That is, they support USB Power Delivery (PD) and Qualcomm Quickcharge (QC), and in effect rapidly charge all my devices that support fast charging:

[Jackery Power Bar] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076DXWPHS/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1)
This one is my favorite because it also has an AC outlet to charge most U.S. laptops. It is so freaking convenient for studying on my computer on the go.

Here are some that I have not owned, but after research seem to be worth recommending (of course, do your own analysis). I believe all three of these support USB PD and Qualcomm QC:

I had signal last year, it might go in and out depending on your provider though. It also might just take some time for messages to go through. I personally don't think a phone is really necessary. I think I called my family once during the festival to check in and my boyfriend used his phone a fair amount to text/meet up with our friends throughout the day. But, we always set meeting points for our camping group if we separated during the day, in case phones were dead. Like, in the morning we'd say "ok everyone meet at camp at 5pm" and if we wanted to go to different sets then, we'd say "ok everyone meet at the Lightning Stage sign at 9:30pm for x set" and so on.

I can't remember if they have charging stations but they likely do, I'd post on their facebook event and tag the Do Lab or whoever is listed as hosting the event page and ask!

I bought a portable/external charger battery to bring to fests. It looks like this, though I can't remember exactly which one I have (I just went for whatever was well reviewed). Just do your research, the more "mAh" it has, the more charges you will get out of it. You just plug your USB-to-phone-charger cable into it, it holds power. Then you can charge a couple times at least when you're at camp. :)

IF you're looking for a USB C PD charger the best I have found is the Jackery 26800. It is $100. Does 45W through the USC C, and has an additional USB A port that can fast charge 18 W. I know some others have a better assortment of ports or others have higher PD output of 60W. I have found for the price and ability it is the best I have ever used. And before the Jackery I had the Ravpower 26800 but that one was only 30W USB C PD and didnt have fast charge. Def a good option.

We bought a refurbished iPad mini and put the camera app in Guided Access mode (so no one could do anything aside from press "record" and "stop"), on a tripod, with an external battery pack hooked up to make sure it didn't die. Set it up at around 6' high tilting slightly down and let people record a message for us! The original plan was to return the iPad once the wedding was over but I'm a sucker for gadgets and ended up keeping it for myself.

We didn't get quite as many videos as we'd hoped for (the staff moved it to an odd place between ceremony and reception and it got overlooked for the bar close by), but the ones we did receive were both really nice and pretty funny.

u/wesinator · 4 pointsr/VanLife

Here's a 60w PD power bank that should charge in a couple hours. It only holds 20AH and when charging and discharging that quickly the number of cycles will be reduced. But for the money its the fastest charging one I could find on amazon so you could get a couple. You'll also need a 60w PD wall charger too. So if you already have a bunch of power banks you could get a duffel bag with a power strip in it and everything already plugged in. Just be careful of all the heat in the bag because those 60w chargers get pretty hot.

You could also get a 60w PD car charger or a low wattage pure sine wave inverter to charge while driving. Just make sure your 12v outlet is fused to handle that much power.

Edit: There's also this slightly larger capacity (26800mAh) power bank that comes with the charger, but it charges slightly slower (45w).

Edit Edit: There's also "portable power stations" like this that can charge at 100w. But at that price you might as well build yourself a dedicated solar system or at least install a battery isolator on your alternator and get a deep cycle lead acid.

Also, if you have some money left over to spend, here are some smaller gifts that can go in his stocking :)

I’ve got a solar charger for cheap on amazon, like $40. Unlimited power of the sun! And works for my phone, watch, camera, flashlights, vapes and more. Best camping companion, definitely recommend.

Edit: This is the one I have, only complaints are 5w is pretty slow and there’s no trickle charge mode (so if you want to charge something small like a vape or flashlight you need to have a phone charging at the same time), but you can’t beat the price for the size of panels and battery. But I’m sure if you spent a little more you could get quick and trickle charge etc

Edit 2: found this one with 18w!

u/Chorazin · 1 pointr/Ultralight

A few observations!

You could drop 3-ish oz by switching your headlamp to the Nitecore 20/25 with the UL kit. You have a powerbank with you, so why carry something that uses disposables?

Switch from AirPods to the included Earpods to shave 1.3oz, although cords do suck a whole bunch.

Speaking of cords, you're not counting your charging cable. :-P Since you haven't bought the Anker 10k, you could take a look at the Jackery Bolt 6000mah. Lightning and micro USB cables included, only 5.3oz, but obviously less charging power. So, if you are out for week+ treks might not work for you. But for 3, 4, 5 day trips? Would probably be more than enough. I own this and it's been working awesome. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6L85CC/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

13.1 oz for fuel? Unless you're going out for more than 3-4 days at a time and boil multiple cups with every meal, I doubt you'd need more than a 4oz can, dropping it to like 7.3oz total. (You're also counting your ENTIRE 13.1 oz as consumable, which the can itself isn't....)

Take your ass pad, it's worth the weight. If you don't want the one you have, buy the smaller and lighter one from LiteSmith. https://www.litesmith.com/folding-sit-pad/

A good brand like Anker is safe bet. You can estimate 1 hour per 1000mAh of battery when using a Pi B+, camera and WiFi.

This would be a good one, should last 10 hours.

u/rkantos · 1 pointr/videos

Probably the easiest way to quickly get going is to get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerHouse-Generator-Alternative-Rechargeable/dp/B0196GQAKM

I know it costs a lot.. but if you can get paid 50usd/second for the timelapses, it is probably easiest way ! Probably runs a D700 for at least a week. This is of course if you cannot get an extension cord there. With an extension cord or even the Anker PowerHouse, you could use something like this too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-power-adapter-f-Nikon-D90-D300-D700-D3000-D5000-as-EH-5-EH-5A-EP-5-coupler-/180952806542

u/TemptedTemplar · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

One of the best options out there is only $50 right now. 26800 mAh capacity and a great brand.

But keeping it at $40 or less, There is an option with USB-C out, which is almost as good, despite the cut in capacity.

When looking at capacity, use the Switch as your guide; it has a 4310 mAh internal battery. So the biggest difference between these two options is roughly one whole charge of the Switch.

u/doyouknowbobby · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I have tried the RAVPower model listed by poofyhairguy, it is indeed very good. I ended up returning it because the USB A ports are a little slow and don't fast-charge my cellphone. I feel like fast charging is extremely important for power banks. The USB C output is phenomenal, though. Returned 10-15% charge while Pokken Tournament is being played undocked over an hour. Something like 35-40% with Pokken in sleep mode for an hour.

I ended up going with this zerolemon one. It has one less USB A port, but it is fast. It's C port was equal or maybe slightly better than RAVPower in my Pokken test.

Not to mention the TPCast is only ~$30 cheaper than the official first party supported adapter.

I have the Vive wireless adapter on an OG Vive with the deluxe audio strap and have noticed that it gets uncomfortable on my scalp about 2 hours in. I have a piece of foam between the headstrap and the adapter to absorb the heat. When I say uncomfortable I mean I notice it's getting hot, it's not exactly giving me 3rd degree burns.

Also the official battery does not last 6 hours (at best you're getting about 3 hours), however you can use 3rd party batteries that support QC 3.0. I have a Anker battery that costs less than the Vive one and lasts twice as long. The only caveat is that it takes forever to charge. I typically charge it overnight.

u/Grummond · 1 pointr/Surface

I'm the type that gets battery anxiety when my SP4 gets near 50%, which happens way too fast (they really should make battery life a priority with the next one, even if it means a slightly thicker/heavier device), but the QI Infinity power bank has solved that. Works great.

It's a bit pricey, but I needed a second charger anyway so I just had to spend a little more and get a massive power pack included in the price.

u/mpop1 · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I tested my power bank today, it worked fine, I have this one https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MXCMGB8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it works well, I got it for other devices but it also works with the switch (and today I tested it on 5.0.0, and it worked fine) and at 30,000 mah that should be a nice amount of power for your bus trip. They do recommend you use a USB-C to UCB-C cable though.

u/fieldsofgreen · 2 pointsr/CampingGear

I've been intrigued by the goal zero generators for a while, but then I found this. Seems to be significantly more powerful for the same price, still has solar inputs. I do lots of car camping and am really considering something like this eventually.

I'd say it really depends on how you want to carry/mount it. If you don't plan on HMD mounting it and you don't care about weight, I've seen batteries as big as 30,000 work. If you are planning on mounting it to the HMD I'd recommend sticking with something as close to the stock HTC battery as possible like this. Also, if you have access to a 3D printer this is also helpful.

I'm a professor, so I'm always carrying more than I can fit in my pockets (laptop, notepads, sometimes piles of student papers, etc.). I have a messenger bag that's very simple with not much organization. The main compartment is divided into two parts, one of which has a couple of loops for pens and a small pocket. There's a open pocket on the back of the bag for things that you might want to access quickly. And there are small pouches on the sides of the bag for sunglasses or other small things.

My laptop goes in the part of the main compartment without pen loops. A couple of notepads go in the other part of the main compartment, along with a small case which fits in the small pocket and holds earbuds and a USB drive. Student papers go in that compartment when I need to carry them. My sunglasses go in one of the side pouches (the one I can easily reach while wearing the bag), and a pocket knife goes in the other side pouch (or in my pocket if I'm expecting to use it a lot). The back pocket holds a carrying case with several pens, a small power bank and cables, and a small multi-tool. I also have a small flashlight that can fit in various places depending on how accessible I want it to be, but usually is stored in the carrying case. (I like this carrying case specifically because it lies flatter than most others I've seen, so it's not uncomfortable against my back while in the back pocket of my messenger bag.)

We allow you to choose the color of each LED individually for greater customization, and offer the installation of an inline on/off switch for greater protection against LEDs accidentally being turned on, and allowing the battery pack to be somewhere out of reach.

This 10,000 mAh battery pack will keep your electronics running through the con without needing to recharge, and is powerful enough to recharge an iPhone 7 up to four times or a Galaxy S7 up to 2.3 times. This unit was specially chosen because not only does it pack a ton of power, but it has a low power mode (simply press the button twice to activate this mode) which can operate anything you plug into it without shutting off.

I have this guy and it works pretty well. If you have prime it will make it in time for week two. $25

I don't see why this portable battery couldn't charge the switch. It specifically has a USB-C charging output as well as a USB 12v 1.2amp charging output for qualcom 3.0 supported devices.

Its even advertised to charge USB-C laptops. If it can power a laptop I'd be surprised if it can't charge the Switch.

u/22marks · 11 pointsr/teslamotors

Not OP but I ended up ordering this battery. My hope is I can plug it into one USB, then use the two outputs of the battery. That’ll leave the other for a USB drive. This particular battery allows it to power the USBs while charging. So, in theory, it should still get ~2.1A from the single outlet to charge or passthrough even if the battery is dead. But when the battery is topped off, it should output even more (3.4A). I’m hoping all the times it’s not charging a phone will allow it to catch up and top off the battery.

If this doesn’t work, I’ll probably try to tap into a 12V source to power it.

Turn off background app refresh for everything but what you need, if you are doing heavy stuff like gaming get more chargers for different locations in your house where you might setup or buy a USB-C portable battery pack.

u/Expat123456 · 3 pointsr/Xiaomi

It seems to be able to charge things with USB-C. However there is a catch. It does not have Power Delivery.

Which means it can charge things, but not fast enough that you can keep them running.

So you could charge a laptop that is off. But a running laptop would use more power than it will be charging.

The one I linked has Power Delivery and can keep a laptop running or even a Nintendo Switch. Other chargers can do it too, like this Zero Lemon

It is expensive but good for all sorts of emergency power. I can run a full night with the humidifier on, or multiple nights without. I was considering the deep cycle marine battery and all in the DYI ideas, but chose something more expensive, but more flexible.

This is the absolute best cellphone battery I've seen. They stand behind their product. Charges my cell twice on one charge. Not bulky, fits right behind your phone. Micro USB folds into it so you don't have to carry another cable. Lights tell you how much juice it has left.

u/velo443 · 1 pointr/cycling

Take your pick. Here's a very small one: https://smile.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Lipstick-Sized-Generation-Batteries/dp/B005X1Y7I2/. It probably has enough power to last your entire commute and then some. I have a 6500mAh battery pack similar to this: https://smile.amazon.com/Upgraded-Anker-Candy-Bar-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B06XS9RMWS/. I'd say it would power the light for an hour or two. I stick it in a jacket pocket and the cable just hangs across to the light on the handlebars. You could also use a velcro strap or small bag to attach the battery to the bike, if you want.

And the nice thing is that the battery pack can also be used to charge your phone when you're away from home. I chose the light after I already had the battery pack.

u/enerrotsen · 5 pointsr/Surface

I personally use:
RavPower 23000 mah
QI-Infinity Cable Dc Cable
However, the QI -Infinity 35000mah Includes the above cable and a larger battery pack that supports QC 3.0, and the included rapid charge can also charge a surface pro if you purchase another accessory cable. I am debating selling mine, to get the Qi-infinity version.

u/judascleric · 2 pointsr/synthesizers

> Do you use the things that differentiate the 2x from the regular NC2 or do you just use e.g. Galileo for organs and could just as well have the cheaper NC2?

I do tweak the sliders for synth filter and envelopes, organ stops, and MIDI control. I certainly wouldn’t be twiddling the iPhone for changing dynamics mid-song, but I guess a $200 markup is a lot if a program change can get you by. I think the synths and organs on the NC2 are samples instead of emulations so they wouldn't be aa tweakable.

> What's your setup? Does it use QuickCharge or USB PD to get more power or do you manage with just a regular powerbank?

I see lots of people giving good relationship advice that I don't have all that much to add to. But I will give this piece of technical advice, get a potable battery phone charger its best if it has the cables already attached. So something like this. Just put it in your purse or backpack and if you are ever low, just plug it in for a bit. I don't think the one I linked can get you from dead to full but it can definalty get you some calls, texts, or set up and a uber ride.

Pump, a roll of Life Savers, phone (switch to Dexcom G6 if you can now that you're on X2--Basal-IQ is amazing and Control-IQ is going to be even better). That's it.

Extra infusion set, reservoir, syringe, needle, half-used vial of insulin in my bag when I'm at work or out for the whole day. I don't really keep it with me, just close enough that I don't have to drive an hour to get to it. I figure if I have a pump failure I have a solid hour before it's even remotely an issue (better to fix it sooner of course).

Also, check out the Jackery Bolt USB battery pack. Built-in charge cables, and it sits nicely in my pocket next to my pump while it is charging. That way I am not tethered in place while the pump charges. The battery stays in my bag too with the infusion sets, etc.

I have a Qi-Infinity bank from my Surface Pro 4 days.. The funny thing is it won't charge the Surface Book 2 with the Surface connector, but if I plug in the battery bank with the USB-C cable, it'll charge.

It gives the slow USB charge warning so it's not really made to charge the Book, but it can do it in a pinch. I'm going to look into getting a better bank to charge.
