A few more ideas :
I would suggest having a battery-powered FM radio (and extra batteries if it's battery powered, or get one which charges via USB like the one I linked) to listen to the news and get vital information.
Also (if not too late), order a sawyer mini (best) or lifestraw (not as good). If you don't have access to clean water it can help you stay healthy (beware of chemical contamination which cannot be removed by these).
If you have the money, get a Garmin inReach satellite communicator (requires a (relatively cheap) subscription, down to $15ish a month). You can request SOS (much like 911), and send/receive SMS and e-mails, even without cell coverage. Excellent to keep in touch with relatives and in case of emergency. Can be used year-round when hiking, snow-mobile, skiing, ... Don't tell anyone you have this...
Download the offline map of your area on Google Maps on your phone beforehand. Can be priceless to navigate around and doesn't require internet access. Also get the Maps.Me app and download the map of your area too. Google Maps offline maps will expire and disappear from your phone after 30 days (I believe), Maps.Me maps will not.
If the cell service in your area is out of order, use your phone in airplane mode so that it doesn't continuously and desperately looks for a cell to connect to, which will drain the battery VERY quickly. Also use it on the lowest practical brightness setting to save battery power.
If not too late, get big USB power banks (>=10000mAh such as this one) and fully charge them beforehand. It's good as barter items and it can be nice to recharge your things when you have no access to a generator (on the go, or if you don't want to run the generator to avoid attracting attention). You can also get USB lights (this one for instance) and your powerbank doubles as a flashlight with a very long battery life.
Get a first aid kit, and not just one with bandaids... Get a CAT tourniquet, trauma dressing, Celox (preferred) or QuikClot bandage, triangular bandage, SAM splint, ... and know how to use them. Also get the basic medecines (stomach/diarrhea relief, basic painkillers, anti-allergy, and any prescription medecine if you require any). Remember 911 service may be unavailable for some time and you need to be able to take care of injuries. Tourniquets save lives, everyone should have one readily available.

I am a radio amateur and in these situations I like to have one or two portable radio for two-way communication but I realize it is not for everybody. Still, a pair of FRS/GMRS radio can be helpful. Please note that GMRS requires a (cheap) license in the USA. I would recommend this model which also allows to be used as a scanner and to program the NOAA weather frequencies (do it beforehand) and some local police/EMS/fire frequencies (if allowed in your juridiction).
Please DO NOT use a radio made for amateur radio use, where you can transmit on any frequency, such as the UV-5R; you may interfere with emergency communications, even if you can't hear them, miles away. Please stick to the FRS/GMRS frequencies. The radio above guarantees safe operation and still allows to be used as a scanner.

Take pictures of all your important documents (ID, properties, ...) and store them in a waterproof plastic bag. Try to keep at least your passport and driver license with you during the storm...
If you have a sump pump, try to arrange so that it can be battery powered and/or connected to your generator. If using battery power, get a battery charger and/or a generator connection, if the outage lasts and the battery runs down. Sometimes homes are not affected by the main storm but are flooded due to the lack of power around the storm and are still ruined, and that's totally preventable.
Also, beforehand, depending of the situation you might want to BLOCK your main sewage pipe. This way you might avoid sewage backflow into your home. There are normally valves already installed but in case of serious flooding (high backpressure) they sometimes are not up to the task.

Download a few offline movies on the Netflix app (if you have Netflix). I never lived though a hurricane but I assume after a few days/weeks, you might want some entertainment. You can also download e-books. Bonus if it's survival-related e-books.

Hope this helps... good luck to those affected
PS: oooo, thank you stranger for the gold, I think I never had one before ! Happy prepping :)
Not a deal - this has been the average Amazon price since the item was introduced 2 years ago. Check CamelCamelCamel.
And as others have pointed out, this is the model without USB-C.
I ordered the same one (Anker 20000mAh for $27), but it's not supposed to be here until Friday...

This is the portable charger I purchased. It's $50 and it has worked perfectly fine so far but I haven't owned it for very long. It takes a few hours to fully charge the Switch but it can be used while the Switch is on.
I have this Anker Power Core that I absolutely fucking love.
It's kinda hefty, but sleek and worth the extra weight. Takes about 10 hours to charge, but it can charge your phone 5-7 times depending on which one you get, and the charge does NOT deplete if you leave it in your car. I had it in my car all summer and winter in Michigan for 8 months, and when i took it out, still showed 4/4 lights of charge.
I use mine a lot in hotels and stuff where the plug is too far from the bed, and I also use it a lot at work and stuff like that.
I've had it for 3 years now and it hasn't lost any battery power, PLUS it comes with two USB ports so you can charge two different things at once.
I've been using it to charge my iPhone X and Apple Watch for the last 3 days to test it out and it still has 2/4 power level bars left. Absolutely amazing.
Electricity is power.
Buy yourself one or two of these and revel in
the time you can spend on snapchatthe ability to avoid shackling yourself to the power strip warlords. It'll charge your phone 3-4 times so you only have to charge it every other day at worst.Be careful who knows of your power. Someone will approach you every bus ride to try and mooch if your secret gets out. If you're feeling particularly heartless, you could probably charge snacks for time with your battery. The plight of the common pleb is of no concern to you, after all.
This bad boy right here. On the bigger/heavier side, but it's great for travel. 7 iPhone charges!

I hope you have a data plan. I keep this in my backpack and keep it charged. Takes a few hours to charge but it lasts for I'd say about a week with casual use.
That phone also costs $1000. For $50 I can get a great USB battery and keep mine and someone else's phones charged for that same 6 hours. For the few hundred dollars price difference between that and what I paid for my phone when it was new plus that battery, I'll suffer the inconvenience of having a cable attaching my phone to my pocket.
I do wish I had some sort of nighttime photo mode on my phone, though. The Oneplus community has always been rather upset at the quality of our cameras.
To give you an idea this Anker 20100 is well thought of (TheWirecutter likes it and it has great reviews). I picked it up on Prime Day for $30 and thought that was a great deal.
So basically anything around $30 for a decent charger of this size is a pretty solid deal.
A lot depends on the style you're looking for. I'll also say that security in a bag is a myth. There are things to discourage certain behavior, but ultimately a bag should never be seen as a secure container. (after all it can always be cut)
What I chose.
I traveled for about a month in Europe staying in hostels. Even though it was only a month I could have traveled for about a year (adding only a tablet) with the bag/things I brought.
Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel Backpack - $150 (Discontinued)
[Osprey Farpoint 40 Travel Backpack
I love this bag but it might not be the single best option for you. It's low profile, turns into a duffle bag (more about that later) and although it doesn't look like a school backpack, it doesn't standout like this either.
The reason I love that it turns into a duffle bag is because theres a semi hidden velcro pocket in the bottom where the cover rolls into. This is a great place to sew or velcro a small zippered wallet or bag to store extra money or valuables. It's not secure as much as its hidden. This won't help you if they steal the whole bag, but it will help you if they just ransack the place and steal from the open compartments.
Other Options
There are a ton of other options. I suggest watching the VagaBrothers Video - How to Choose the BEST Travel BACKPACK | Pros & Cons Minimalist Backpack Review and Travel Tips: Packing Hacks, Tips & Essentials
The F Stop bags look great, but are pretty pricy. Depending on what lenses you're bringing (18-55mm kit lens VS 70-200mm VR f2.8) it may or may not be worth it for size and configurability. I personally bought a Sony a6000 and left my big DSLR at home. That was actually a really good choice for the type of trip I did, but if I was going for a year (like you are) I understand needing the big camera. You might want to get camera/lens inserts like this (but not necessarily that one, I just clicked on the first one I saw on amazon) to store and protect those other lenses.
Hope that helps.
The following is copy and pasted from an email I sent to family friends traveling abroad. It gives links and ideas for things that help when traveling minimally.
----------
----
Security:
Since I was traveling alone, and in hostels, security was a slightly bigger deal for me. I carried my passport on my person or locked in my hostel (many had lockers or metal lock boxes).
At all times I had a photo copy of my passport and everything in my wallet, some local currency, and a print out of all the embassies in the area. (Attached to this email.) I printed this double sided and had multiple copies with me.
I told my mom, "At any time I want to be able to have everything stolen, but still have a way back home.” My credit card will do cash transfers internationally and also includes a continuous travel insurance package.
I would highly suggest making three copies of your passport and all credit cards and other ID you are taking. One lives on your person when your passport is stored elsewhere (hotel, for example), one lives in your luggage (preferably hidden/tucked away), and one stays with a trusted friend or family member that will be in the States for the duration of your trip. If anything happens they will be able to assist with proving your identity to the State Department, thus speeding the process along. I suggest keeping some cash tucked in your passport (along with that embassy list), your copy of the passport in the luggage, and then the copy of the passport and embassy list in your wallet. At this point you have three possibilities of things to grab to prove your identity/pay for a cab/tell you where to go.
While this may seem a little overboard, I find it doesn't take that long to set up and helps greatly should anything bad happen. Also consider registering with the State Department. This helps them track Americans abroad should anything happen, and also gives you alerts, should anything happen. https://step.state.gov/step/

Tech Tips
I also used a service called Line2 to give me a US phone number to call from and receive calls to while I was away. I have T-Mobile that gives me included unlimited international data. As long as I had a 4g signal, I also had a phone I could make and receive calls on. Google Voice and Skype would also do this. Do be aware of how much international data costs. Wifi is easy to find, but I suggest using a VPN on your phone or laptop for any web surfing. And even with the VPN I would not suggest logging into any financial (bank, etc) while abroad unless you are on a trusted wifi network (aka, friends).
For maps you can download parts of Google Maps by searching the city and clicking “Download." This should work on Android and iOS versions of Google Maps.
Anker 20000mAh
exactly. good third party LP-E6 batteries are 18.72 Watt-hour (a pair for $20), for $40 you can get a 100 Watt-hour USB battery pack.
Send it back and get the Anker 20100. it's on sale for 40 right now.
Or you can get a portable power bank and stash it where your coworkers can't get to it. Then take it home to charge it when it runs low.
The Chinese TPCast is getting shipped with a regular Anker battery, specifically this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1495447322&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=anker+powercore+20100&dpPl=1&dpID=31MnmAEjDaL&ref=plSrch
The battery should be worn on belt, not on the head (at least with this bigger one). There's no batter strap to put on the head with this early version of the TPCast.
The weight at the top of the HMD has been described as neglible by several previewers and reviewers
This was posted here already.
In any case, this story looks sketchy as all hell. It's on Indie-Gogo and supposedly rolling out in four months, yet they have nothing but a few renders and an obviously-empty 3D printed case to show for it.
It's also wickedly expensive, even at the "early backer" prices. $85 for a 12,000 mAh battery? I mean, you can get a 20,100 mAh battery (over 1.5x the capacity) for less than half the price.
Anker ones are good. Only problem is this one shows in stock July 28th because it's been ordered like crazy past week.. lol

In the festival: Gold Bond powder for chafing/sunburns/itchiness, hi-fidelity earplugs (I use DownBeats bcecause they're more compact than others), Anker 10000mAh battery pack and a multi-USB charger cable so all your friends can get their charge on w/o having to stop at a charging station
Camping: Mio water enhancer for electrolytes + flavor, Anker 20,100 mAh battery pack
I've got the 20.000 mAh Anker Powerbank , which I really like.

Portable Charger Anker PowerCore 20100mAh - (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_XhsUDbPG8B2N4
Will charge a large cell phone at least 5x from 0 to full.
If my life depended on my phone always being charged, I would have a plan, a plan B, and a plan C.
Plan: Big portable charger. I'd probably bring 2.
Plan B: Use my car to charge my phone every morning before I head into Centeroo, leave phone on airplane or power saver mode if it has to always have a signal.
Plan C: Jesus tent always has places for chargers, and you know, Jesus, just in case the phone won't hold a charge. (The Jesus tent is a big tent in the campground run by a local church that does exactly 0 prosthelytizing but has outlets and coffee and I think some other stuff available for free)
> I said "most of the way" you condescending fuck.
Salty AF
> the Android-isms are directly relevant
We're talking about charging here. The only relevant datapoint about Android phones is they generally have bigger batteries. That is it. Nothing else about them are relevant.
Here's the thing. Even with the expansion module this "keyfob" has all of 2,150mAh for $78. A single-18650-based power bank by a reputable vendor costs just $13. Oh you want more? $78 almost buys you TWO of this.
None of the above has a keychainable Lightning cable, but that costs either $20 by a name brand or $11 for a 6-pack by an off-brand. Either way the total cost still comes in below the $59 asking price for the basic smrtFOB, so how is this project not shitty?
China exporting a lot and importing little is a good thing
This means that chinese made goods are good enough to beat goods made in other countries, and that the goods they are producing are in demand.
If you look at chinese exports, they are no longer making $1 t-shirts , instead china is exporting consumer products with decent price tags, and they are doing well many bestsellers on amazon
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MA5XZSG/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HTK1NCS/
When China has a lot of products like this, they would have high exports and low imports.
Both domestic consumers and foreign consumers will purchase the better product.
China is climbing the value chain
Capsule wardrobe. I suggest choosing an accessory color, black / brown / color then making sure your clothes go with those. Enough clothes for ideally 2 weeks, underwear the same. I'd go with 4 bras you're suppose to let your bras rest between wears and wash them, but most of us don't wash our bras with each wear. Every item should be able to be worn with all the other items. 1 nice outfit, dress or something like it. Raincoat or umbrella, hat, scarf, glove set in a color that matches your wardrobe. A pashmina scarf is good because it can double as a blanket or shawl. I use to travel for work 30-90 days. My capsule wardrobe consisted of; 2 black pants, 1 gray or kakhi, 2 jeans, 1 lounge pant, 4 button ups, 2 blouses, 2 sweaters, 2 cardigan, 3 t shirts, 1 hoodie type, 2 sets work out clothes, 2 sets PJs, shorts, bathing suit, 1 casual dress (sometimes), 1 nice dress, 1 belt, ankle boots, flats, converse, running shoes, sandals. Each sweater or cardigan could be worn with the t shirts, button ups for blouse. The button ups could be worn with the slacks or jeans.
Always have a reusable shopping bag / tote. It can be use for shopping, luggage overflow, beach trips, picnics, stuff it and it's a pillow. Pack able clothes line you'll be doing laundry. Having a place to hang stuff helps.
E-readers are amazing.
I pack a pairing knife. It really comes in handy around meal times. You can buy cheese, cured meats, fruit and veg and cut it all your self. This one comes in a ton of colors, has a guard so it's easy to pack, just don't try to carry it on a plane! I also carry a small swiss army knife. The scissors, tweezers and tooth pick are much more useful than I would have thought. If you are going to be staying in apartments or houses, packing spices will save you a lot of money.
Toiletries; don't bother, you can buy them as you run out. All you REALLY need is soap, sunscreen and I go for lotion (or oil). I like argon oil because I can use it on my face, scaly needs and hair.
Electronics; external hard drive / cloud and external battery. Keep the hard drive away from your laptop / phone, back up regularly. External batteries are super useful, maps will drain your phone battery these things are great. This is a good one, there are cheaper ones if you prefer.
Online banking, pill bay, insurance, everything. For this I use LastPass. It is a password service. It will generate and store usernames and passwords for any website. I pay $24 a year. I remember one password and it works on my computer and smart phone (app to install on both).
If you are going international I would suggest a VPN (virtual private network). That way you can get sign in and get to all your accounts, websites and not have to deal with if its available in whatever country. To that end, Netflix, Hulu, HBOGo accounts are good sometimes too. I never had all 3, but sometimes you want to rest.
Edit; Shoe bags! they keep your dirty shoes off your other stuff. Keep gallon ziploc bags, good for stinky or wet clothes to be stored until they are clean and dry.
Sorry for the novel. I use to do this a lot.
Not Camino specific - but solar chargers are generally advised against for backpackers.
They are too heavy / bulky for the low power they provide. They are really optimized for 'base camp' type scenarios, not on-the-go activity.
You would be better off with a USB battery pack. They come in a wide variety of capacities. One that's relatively small/light/cheap can charge your phone 5+ times. You just need to refill it at the albergue's when it's convenient. Like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y
Or you could pay $10 more and get nearly 2/3 more capacity with the Anker PowerCore 20100
Battery for powering USB devices and Bose Headphones [QC 15]
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y/
I have a 20,000mAh Anker. Very portable and should provide a bit over 4 charges.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
> It's good for 2-3 full chargers
Does that mean you'll have to buy a new one after that? I'm currently shopping for one myself and found one over at amazon for sale
Here's my fav but they recently released an upgraded model with 3 USB ports, I think it's $10 more.

Edit: My boyfriend has this one. It's more compact but has a little more than half of the power of the one I have.
And here is their newer upgraded model.
Anker - 20000mAh

I had a battery case for my old iPhone 5 that I got for Ingress, in my experience I would recommend against getting one and opt for just keeping a regular external battery pack handy if you have the room in your pocket/bag/whatever to carry one.
Several reasons I would recommend against a battery case like this:
All that being said there are a couple reasons to have a battery case:
Anyways, that's probably way overkill answers to your question, but there you have it.
tl:dr; I'd say there's more cons than pros to having a battery case, but every now and then I do wish I still had one.
> I previously used to bring a battery pack that was sized for my estimated usage
...
> That being said, solar panels are unnecessarily heavy.
It sounds like you only brought the minimum amount of battery you thought you'd need. You'd have more "freedom" if you took a bigger battery.
How many mAh worth of batteries can you get from the same weight the solar panels are?
This 15W panel weighs 12.5oz:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012YZXMZS
But for that weight you could get a 20100 mAh battery that'll fully charge an iPhone 7 times.

The officially licensed Nintendo power bank is made by Anker and is based on a model of theirs already out there. The branding on the power bank, where it says Nintendo Switch on the side, is just an aesthetic. You can buy the regular model it's based off for cheaper than the branded one. The regular model is $44.99 on Amazon, while the branded one is $89.99 often. Here's a link: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y/
Make sure you use the $5 coupon code to lower it to $44.99
don't forget the battery
My phone charges over USB-C and I charge my Switch on it's charger all the time. Same with my Battery pack, I use an older version of this one: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y Haven't had any problems so far.
Hi! You're in for such an amazing time :) Last year I purchased a cheap solar powered battery/charger off amazon which I failed to test and didn't work...womp womp. This year I have this power bank and I highly recommend it: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y It can charge your phone 6-7 times.
Last year one of my crew got a glass handle of liquor in, but I think this was only because it was buried under beer. The website does say no liquor so I'd suggest trying to hide it. Curious if others have been able to get past security wit liquor as long as it's not in glass.
As far as what else to bring--you can never have too many wet wipes!!
Yeah WTF is with the 5000 mah battery? That won't hold much of a charge. It might charge a cell phone once or twice. The 20,000 mah battery from Anker is selling at $41.00 for the black one right now, yet it has dropped as low as $28 in November of last year.
I don't see the difference between this handbag and a bag with a small pocket for a power bank that I can just shove inside and then manually hook up to my phone/laptop, which is what I assume I would have to do anything, sicne the bag doesn't have wireless charging.
This is one of my only prepping areas of expertise. Every time the power goes out, I learn about some new way that I could've been better prepared for the boredom. I've created separate categories.
No Power
If you're woefully unprepared or all of your power is completely gone, you still have a few options:
I now have a good 30 board games, and am always looking for more. A typical board game can last for over an hour including setup, so they're a great way to kill time and have fun if there's nothing else to do.
Check out some of the recommendations over at the board games subreddit
I like to have several books I love, some books of short stories, and stuff I'm kind of 50/50 on. I figure, if I try something out when there's no power and it can't hold my attention, then it really isn't a good book for me.
Access to SOME Power
If you're like me, you have a solar charger for electronics) coupled with a battery pack. With that, you should be able to stay at least sort of powered indefinitely. This setup increases your entertainment tremendously.
I prefer the original Kindle or the Paperwhite, since I want it solely for books.
Full Power
There are only a few situations I can envision where you have access to uninterrupted power, but can't leave your house. If you have a generator, of course, or if you're in some type of Contagion situation. If that's the case...you really don't have an entertainment problem.
I'm just going to leave this here....

It has a huge discount for Prime + it was Deal of the Day yesterday. Picked it up for $26 and saved my life.
I've used and HIGHLY recommend the Anker PowerCore+ 20100 (20,100mAh). It has a USB-C charging port and a 6A output. It's $66 on Amazon. Another commenter on this thread recommended it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZO46LK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00
If you want to spend a little less for (basically) the same product without many trade-offs, you can go with the Anker PowerCore 20100 (20,100mAh). It doesn't have USB-C. It has a 4.8A output. It's basically the same product minus the USB-C port and a little less Amp output. It's $40 on Amazon but Walmart (not sure if Australia has Walmarts) also sells it so you can get them to price match it
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1512021708&sr=1-3&keywords=Anker+Powercore+20100
I've used both of them and they pack major heat
Ingress folks all bought stock in Anker a while back, or should have. ;-)
However the one you pointed out is a bit old and I'd recommend this one if you'll only need one port or this one if you think you'd need more. If you're going to play a lot, 20k is not a bad idea either, and is standard for most serious ingress players. I prefer having a few 10k and just grabbing as many as I think I'd need.
Turn off Bluetooth and wifi, also reduce your screen brightness.
I have a battery I can plug into my phone that will keep it running all day. If you are playing that much, it would be worth considering. Anker has a 20,000 mAh batter on sale at Amazon for $40. This is twice the rating as my battery so it should keep you going for a long time.

I just picked up this one (anker 20,000mAh):

I was told good things about it and after having it one day I like it.
I used a solare panel to attempt to keep things charged at my last forest. There simply wasn't enough sun/ amperage making it any devices to charge them.
I personally wI'll be steering away from solar and expanding my stash of battery powered devices including fans, lights, and most importantly battery back ups for charging phones.

This power bank was enough to give me 5 daysa of heavy phone and Bluetooth speaker usage in the desert. I'll be grabbingname second and calling that a power experience.
Battery solution is a top priority, the cheapest solution i ve found is using a battery marketed to tablets and cell phones; the one i got was around $40 and can power the bmpcc for 10hrs. Edit: This, and recently also picked up this

Lasted me all 3 days last year on one charge.
I use this and it lasts all weekend. Highly recommended.

Same. I also have this guy that is the best investment I've ever made. Recharge a phone like 15 times with it before it runs out, and recharges quick. Anker has a life long customer as long as they don't start cheaping out.
I would highly recommend Anker battery packs. You could get a 10,000 mAh battery pack fairly cheaply and that should give your 3DS a few or more full charges, you could even double the capacity and go with a 20,000 mAh one and it wouldn't cost much more.
I received a 13,000 mAh battery pack about 2 years ago and it's still working quite well. I haven't tested exactly how many times I can charge my 3DS with it but I know it's at least 4 times.

I highly recommend this power bank. It’s small and portable but very powerful. As a matter of fact I liked it so much that I bought a second one. But you have to buy the Anker usb power adapter. For some reason the battery wouldn’t charge with my Apple usb wall adapter.

Unclear if you are in an apartment or dorm. Since you said neighborhood, I'm thinking you are at home or in an apartment.
Most dorms forbid the use of (or even the possession of) candles.
But a nice, fat medium height candle puts out a fair sum of light, enough warmth to make a difference in a small room and costs next to nothing.
Something like this:

If a candle is a no-go due to fire safety rules, then a USB power bank can be a life-saver:

Anything in the 10,000-25,000mAh range with thousands of reviews and a 4+ star rating.
Reminder: low-quality Lithium batteries can rupture and burst into flames. This is not the product-category to go cheap on. The difference between a cheap and a quality product is just a couple of bucks more.
The iPhone 8 has an 1821 mAh battery. So that 20,000 mAh power bank is going to give you probably 8 or 9 realistic charges. (There is always some loss when moving power around)
Let's call it 8 Charges. If you are using some data to Google some stuff and using your flashlight to read with, you're probably looking at 2 days and change before you need to go and find some power.
You can charge your tablet from the power bank too, and might even be able to charge a laptop if it uses USB-C for input power.
But those things will drain the bank pretty rapidly.

If you lose power longer than overnight, try to get in touch with your professors and communicate your situation with them and see what they can do for you.
It is very important that you start communicating BEFORE the exam dates.
I am one of the buyer in US and buy it from TaoBao international, for a little bit overpriced US$360 (Original price was $290). Plus around $50 shipping.
Some of the TaoBao sellers ship overseas, but yllwstn is right they don't ship battery due to the restriction. However In US you can get the alternative battery from Amazon, its the same model of the original one and it works for mine.
So feel free to ask them if they would take out the battery and ship overseas, I believe they appreciate to do that since they can re-sell the battery ...

My thought is if I'm already traveling I have a battery pack with me to charge my phone. I can add my watch usb cable into my pack.
For 40 dollars you can buy a decent battery pack. Again assuming you want to charge your phone as well at some point.
This battery pack will charge your watch a lot without needing to charge the pack again for sometime.
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1522905624&sr=8-4&keywords=anker+portable+charger
Considering everything else they carry, I think an extra 12 ounce battery the size of a phone - and with a 20,000 mAh capacity - will be more than enough.
I've gone down 40% in about 2 hours, and I've got my external battery on me so I can probably last around 5 hours * 8 charges, 40 hours, pretty good. (and that's with me leaving the application open listening to music on my phone at work) Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
edit: external battery I have is this Anker 20000mAh if anyone was wondering, 100% worth the $40 if you can afford it.
Study the shit out of Google Maps and star everything that you think you'll want to see. That way, you'll have some kind of idea about what you can cover in a day, distance-wise. Read up on the areas, use Street View and get a feel for any places where you might be walking – every city has places you don't want to stray into by accident.
Sign up on Couchsurfing and get familiar with it. You're more likely to get accepted with zero references in Europe than you are in the US, but having some references is always a good thing – I've been a host in the past, but it's never stopped me accepting guests, whereas I didn't get accepted once in the US (and was told why, several times). Get yourself an Airbnb account as well, just in case.
Get a decent backpack and come to terms with wearing the same things for a couple of days in a row – I can it Festival Mode. Get yourself a portable power source for any devices you might need to charge (e.g. Anker 20000mAh Portable Charger), and pack a reliable socket adapter for when you need to plug things into the mains.
Aim for summer in Europe, for obvious bonus reasons, but also for the benefit of not having to carry around a huge winter jacket. Be prepared to buy something warm instead, which you can then easily jettison if need be; anything to keep the load lighter. On that note, though, investigate lockers at major rail stations in the areas you're considering. It's always good to dump your stuff and walk around without it for a while.
Learn the basics in the languages of the countries you plan to visit: please, thank you, food, beer, toilet, etc. I'm pretty sure there are books that cover such phrases in a bunch of European languages. Scandinavians are better at English than most native English-speakers, and they're only too happy to speak English, whereas France, Germany, Italy… not so keen.
What are "small devices".

A pair of these for $60 goes pretty far if you're just talking cell phones, cameras, tablets.
This is the one I bought. I got really lucky and it was an Amazon Prime Daily Deal yesterday so I only paid $26.99 for it.
This was the other one I was considering. Note this one has a 5V/3A Type C port for both charging the brick and charging your device (switch input/output with the button on the brick). If it hadn't been for the sweet deal on the other one, I would have much more seriously considered this.
Anker is a very reputable brand for portable battery chargers and, from what I've heard, is the go to brand for most Ingress players.
If you're willing to drop $50 on something, go for this;
https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1469213379&sr=1-1&keywords=anker
Amazing charger because not only does it hold 20,000mah, but it charges your phone very quickly.
Granted, it's unlikely you'll need one that holds 20k, but if you're shelling out $40 or so, might as well go for it. Great buy.
I love using an external battery pack with a USB to 9v/12v converter! I can use it to power volcas, or my circuit and a boutique, or any combo of things. You'll definitely have to crunch the numbers but I have great luck with it as a campfire rig.

there is like an outlet bank by the lodge people can plug their phones into. i bought 2 portable chargers on amazon and i use them for every fest i go to easily charges a phone 0-100 4-5 times and a go pro a couple times

So you'll still want to double check your batteries, but these were the ones that were drop in replacements for the tpcast one. They specifically don't support QC and I have 4 of them I think, so that's a bummer.
I've only had the adapter up and running for a few hours now but here are the few notes I've got compared to the TPCast:
Other than that I haven't noticed anything worth mentioning. The kit for my Pro won't be here until tomorrow, so I just swapped out the tpcast for this one to test it. The biggest downside is the first thing I listed as a positive. The PCI-E card is a huge bummer because I normally use my laptop or tiny mITX build to run demos. Next up on my test list putting the whole thing into my thunderbolt enclosure to make it mobile again.
If you've already got original vives running with the TPCast I just wouldn't recommend changing. There's just no benefit to it. If however you have Pros then you don't have a choice with the TPCast not working on it. Visual quality is the same to me, I never noticed any green bars on my TPCast and OpenTPCast fixed the mic and camera.
How much luggage does he travel with and how many countries is he going to? That will determine what’s a good choice.

I have 2.
My everyday bank that goes into my work briefcase is a 3350mAh.
If I'm on the road or I'm expecting multiple charges for phones, I carry the behemoth that has 20100mAh.
As the site says, the everyday one is as big as a lipstick tube. The monster is still very small; however, i was surprised at how relatively heavy it is (it really isn't).
Anker's build quality is top notch. Battery banks come with a mesh carrying case. Their customer service is A+, as I've had a battery refuse to charge under warranty that was replaced by next day air.
If I was to fly in and looking to camp, I think I'd either look into those Jucy vans, or rent a car and pick up supplies at walmart before driving in. Most the small stuff you could already bring with you or take back home and I guarantee there are plenty of folk who will gladly take a barely used canopy/cooler/tent/whatever off your hands at the end of the weekend. Just search "car camping" on this sub as well and you'll find a ton of helpful info
as far as charging devices, I use this and not only does it keep my phone completely charged all weekend long, but it usually has some juice left over at the end.
6 700 mah dont worth this price this one :

Anker FTW
Small: Anker PowerCore 10000, One of The Smallest and Lightest 10000mAh External Batteries, Ultra-Compact Portable Charger, High-Speed Charging Technology Power Bank for iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and More

>Third, not every has a battery bank.
Considering a good quality one from Anker is like $40, and the console is going to be several hundred, this is an optional problem.
>Fourth, most people's battery banks aren't going to be nearly enough to something as power hungry as a console, especially if you mean to still charge your phone from it.
Again, this is a personal issue that can be easily resolved for a fraction of the price of a game for the console.
I can second getting an Anker PowerCore. It depends what you're willing to spend and how you want to use it what you should get, but:
Yo, I dunno if it's Prime members only or something, but his is on sale for over 50% off!! Anker is an awesome brand as well, maybe the best. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_TyAyzbACZQZCX
I bought the Anker PowerCore 20100. My phone was the only "camera" I took on the Inca Trail and not only did it keep my phone completely charged, I was able to help my tent-mate charge her phone on the 3rd night. She had brought a charger but it couldn't keep up.
Since then, I've taken in on any trip. I don't have to worry about finding a plug in airports, having a full charge on train adventures. It's brilliant and would highly suggest.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y
I did see Anker as a more reputable brand. Any specific model you would suggest?
I noticed pretty good reviews for the Anker PowerCore 20100.

Prime required. Great deal.
The directions say not to do this. They say not to use any charger that's not the one provided. I have a big external battery I'd love to use for long flights:

Greeting Sir, do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior Anker?
Anyway, their powerbanks are very common among ingressers, as they have a nice quality/price.. And I suggest a 20k mAh power bank like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1453108811&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=anker&dpPl=1&dpID=316uM62v76L&ref=plSrch) if you plan to travel a lot, and forget to recharge it sometimes (tried it, 4+ full charges, even while playing at anomalies).
Don't spend more than 50$, it's not worth it :D
Anker!
Anker PowerCore 20100mAh because they are so so cheap and reliable!
or
Anker PowerCore+ 20100mAh if you have an item that needs more amperage. USB-C phones or Nintendo Switch, something that wants a little more oomf. Not that more exp.
We own two of each for our camper. We live on these things for a long trips. They're also under regulation size for all flights. Both not too bad for (mens) jeans or a jacket pocket for their capacity, kinda bulky but you aren't going to get slimmer for that size. Definitely comfortable to throw in your backpack for a hike. Durable so far (2 years of many many camping trips and flights home)
Any of the anker ones on Amazon are good. The 20k one is best value, but they aren't small. I've been using a 15k anker one for about 2 years and it works great.

This might be overkill in a car.
Instead, consider a combination of an Android tablet +Two-Way Mirror + Power Bank.
Here's a video to get some creative juices flowing
I've never actually used a power bank but have used lots of other products from Anker and was very happy with the quality. I think the RAVpower units are good as well but personally to consider Aukey a step below Anker in terms of quality.
I'd recommend this if you just want a cute lil wee one that you can carry around with you and will still charge your phone a couple times: https://www.amazon.ca/Upgraded-Anker-Candy-Bar-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B06XS9RMWS/
But you can get ones with much higher capacity and faster charging speeds if you spend $10-20 more - depends how portable you need it to be. Just search "Anker power bank"
https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-PowerCore-13000-Portable-Charger/dp/B00Z9QVE4Q/ if you don't mind spending another $10
https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-20100mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ if you want to go all out
Yes you can, regular USB packs with a USB-C cable is a cheaper alternative.
The recommended USB-C packs would be this one from RAVpower or this one from Anker.
26800 mAh is about the limit you can take on a plane per TSA guidelines without a lithium transit permit. PD is Power Delivery and is the safest means of delivering the most power to your switch without entering dangerous territory. Both go on sale pretty frequently, so despite the high prices you can snag them for 50 to 70 dollars every other week or so.
A 5W panel isn't enough though. The wireless transceivers need power too. The TPCast, for example, uses about 25W. (4.8A 5V) Here's the TPCast battery: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/
To replace a battery like that requires a 25W panel, like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BGDRHGU
The 25W solar panel weighs about 5 lb, which is about six times as much as a TPCast battery. And it's dimensions are about one foot by two feet, which is a bit big to mount on the HMD.
But even if you got the power consumption down to 5W (I'm sure the TPCast is far from optimal), you'd still need the 5W-rated panel to actually deliver 5 Watts. And for the solar panel to deliver its rated power, it has to be getting direct sunlight. So, your VR room would have to have the equivalent of direct sunlight coming from (at least) the four corners of the room. And sunlight is a lot* brighter than typical lights. You'd need the sort of lights that aren't safe to look directly at (just like the sun). And of course, if you tried to use lasers intead, they'd be even less eye-safe.
Generally, a power bank is just a block roughly the size of a wallet. On the bank are USB ports, like the ones you'd find on a computer.
Pretty much anything will plug into those, so all you would need is a cable that goes from the bank to the switch. Your current iPhone charger should plug into the same block.
When the other commenter says 'give enough juice', he means if the power bank holds enough charge to charge the switch fully, since it has a pretty big battery. You don't need to worry about voltage or anything like that.
Here's an example of a generic power block, and here's the cable you would need to connect it to the switch. Hope this helps!
I have an anker (I think it's the 20100mah one?). I use it frequently when traveling and it's more than fine. Doesn't charge super fast but definitely can charge the switch once or twice fully.
edit: found it on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=anker+power+bank&qid=1571283440&sprefix=anker+pow&sr=8-3
Never tried before but I would hold the GoPro in your hand as you walk in, basically have it in plain sight so you aren't doing anything wrong. If you are that worried/serious maybe hide it under your phone (hide it in plain sight) I would have multiple SD cards and a battery pack if possible. I have a standard GoPro from a couple years ago and it lasts a good amount of time but the newer ones may die quicker if you have them at 1080p (not sure on that) I honestly have no idea about battery life on the session so I would get a power bank, I have this one and I love it
As for mount chest or hat mount is probably your best bet, maybe the head mount but that may bother the people behind you
that's why you buy one of these badboys.
I got a $30 portable charger on Amazon, I've been able to get 4-5 full charges out of it for my HTC m10.
> I paid him around 270-300 usd (but in Swedish currency) a month ago and got it yesterday, so I really cant tell how
I'd recommend ytaopal mate. You just order on taobao with their address and your userid(you create when you register on their site) Then it gets shipped to them. They'll just add a small percentage and either remove the battery or you can send it via dhl with the battery. Battery is only $40 on amazon so make your own mind up on that. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501302379&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+20100
I bring the USB cord with me. For stable situations like hotel rooms, I use an Anker USB charger. For mobile situations, like on an airplane, I use an Anker PowerCore battery.
Yeah, I have an Anker one I got for $35 on amazon on Black Friday. It's not too big and it keeps my camera, GoPro, and phone juiced up and doesn't have to be recharged too often.

EDIT: I may have messed up how much it actually charges. 4.8 amps, however many mAh that is
TIL
What is it that you need to power with that? I just carry one of the smaller power packs in my work bag which can keep my phone charged for at least a week. I also have a headlamp that can be recharged via USB. Other than those two things I don't have any need for portable energy although I could technically power my laptop off of the power pack also. But in the event of an emergency where I can't drive home, I will be walking, and I won't need to power on my laptop.
Once I am home, I have a large 12 volt deep cycle battery that is constantly connected to a smart charger. In the event the power goes out I can connect my 2000 watt inverter that will run a few lights and my chest freezer as well as charge all my portable USBN powered devices. If I need to re-charge that battery while the power is still out, I can hook it up to one of my vehicles (there is always at least one car at home).
This is the one I have and highly recommend it. It goes on sale pretty often for $40. I have charged my phone and a friends off of it from 5% up to 100% and still had plenty of battery left over. I keep it in my backpack everyday for a quick charge.
Portable Charger Anker PowerCore 20100mAh - Ultra High Capacity Power Bank with 4.8A
For an individual user, most non-collapsible stands should hold the ipad plus an external battery bank like this pretty securely as well.
I have a NYKO charger and the officially licensed one

Something like this should get both your phones through the weekend :)
Your guess is probably as good as anyone's here. I'd say it's probably likely because of incredible demand.
Alternatively I picked up this bad boy to bring in: https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y which is probably overkill but whatevs.
Might I recommend this?
I have the 20000 model and it lets me recharge several times before having to recharge the battery.
*Edit: I can't format or spell correctly the first time around.
Anker 20100, USB Micro charger. Always seems to be on sale at Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
The 10000 if you don't want to spend 40-some dollars on it (I've seen it on constant sale and it's dipped down to $32 for the one I showed)
I use Anker IQ 40W/8A 5-Port USB Quick Charger with this charging dock.
Note that this is for my Anker Powerbanks for my TPCast. My banks are Anker PowerCores 20100mAh and they last about 5 hours and take about 8-8.5 hours to fully charge back from dead. I have two batteries that I keep in the charging dock at all times, to ensure I never run out of power.
FYI, those chinesium power banks would struggle to charge at 20mA, which could optimistically recover about 2-5% of your battery over 8 hours of direct sun. Don't buy one.
Assuming the phone's 3500mAh
2x2400mAh = 4800mAh
0.5x3500mAh = 1750mAh
You'll need >6550mAh or 25 watt-hours per day.
If you want the option of solar charging I'd recommend buying a solar mat instead, and a battery at least double your daily power requirement.
Here's one option:
This 21w solar mat should be able to recharge all your devices in a couple of hours of direct sun. Pair that with a 20,000mAh power bank and you're pretty well set.
Note: The math works here because all your batteries and the power banks are 3.7v nominal. Power is being up and down converted to 5v, so that cancels itself, apart from entropic loss. If you're trying to figure out power requirements you must use watt-hours instead of amp-hours when comparing different voltages. VxA=W W/A=V W/V=A
Not really. Most battery bank manufacturers have 20000mAh+ ones available for not that much money:

Would a solar charger or USB battery brick thing be useful?

My buddy isn't a military linguist, but I figured I could throw in a few Dari/Pashtun CD instructionals so at least he knows how to say hello, as well as some seasoning (great idea btw).
I don't know if humvees have USB ports, so I figured one of those charger units might be handy, even if it was just for an ipod or something.
Would a big hard drive with tv shows on it be okay to ship?

These things are pretty awesome IMO.
Anker is a good brand, but I don't think you can find it locally.
People tend to love these: https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y
They're big though.
Is this for Pokemon GO? :)
Anything by Anker. I'd suggest the 20100.

Anker makes great products. I will be carrying this bad boy in my backpack throughout the con.
I got my Anker 20k for $25 on Amazon when it was the deal of the day. Normal sticker price is $70, or standard Amazon price seems to be $40. Not sure how much your charge cables are though.
I think you should split the project should split into 2 parts.
I’ve been using this for the past month and it’s been working wonderfully. I bought it because I’m also going on a trip next month for a month and need a big battery to keep me powered up. Its also powerful enough to charge my MacBook Pro couple times Per charge. It’s not that heavy also and is very sleek imo. Good price and anker is a reputable brand for power bricks.
I use an anker power bank and it works well.

I have this one and it's pretty good. Sturdy, easy to carry around both in your hands or a backpack without fearing it might be damaged. My only complaint is that removing the Switch from the case is kind of hard, but that is because it fits way too well, especially with the space for the shoulder buttons.
The top half is pretty big too and it can fit a USB-c cable, the joycon straps, a 8bitdo controller easily and a fabric for cleaning the screen, for example. You won't fit a grip, dock or charger, but those don't necessarily need to be that portable. You can fit a Power Bank though, such as this one.
Here's a good list for you:
You will need to 3D Print some stuff here.
Depending on your needs (looks a little more in-depth than mine), but I use this guy when I travel https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_old_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I use it to charge my tablet, phone, and Kindle and I've never had a problem. If you do take it all the way down, it will take a while to recharge, but I think I've used it to fully charge my phone 5x on a charge and had no complaints
It's gonna run around $300. No issues at all powering it. I had to ship it without the battery due to restrictions, but the battery is commercially available: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm quite frugal myself and like things that serve a multiple purpose. That being said have you tried or heard of a small backup battery source? I've been looking into them for hiking and you might like it as your into photography. Having power is a nice bonus for basic things. This is one I've been eyeing https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495071759&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=battery+pack&dpPl=1&dpID=31I8mgwj14L&ref=plSrch
I use an Anker USB battery and a small up converter that bumps it to 12v. The USB up converter also allows me to run the FT-817 from a USB port on my MacBook, using the MacBook battery. I also have the windcamp battery that I leave internal and use from time to time.

I've had this one for a few months now. It's worked great for my 3DS and phone, and I intend to use it for my Switch. So far, the only downside has been trying to discharge it all the way once a month (recommended in the manual) through regular use; I have to actively find things to charge with it to get that to happen.
Yea the Kindle has a rather tough screen and with tons of capacity. Coupled with the insane battery life and ease of charging it's really a no brainer. On sale they can go for like 50 bucks and everyone in the family gets books they like along with the essentials young ones won't really care about....but redundancy...
On the subject we have an Anker PowerPort 21w Solar Charger and Anker PowerCore 20100. These two items will charge the Kindle (paper white and fire variety), Nintendo DS, Galaxy 7 Edge, tablets etc. The PowerCore will charge the Galaxy 7 almost 6 times before needing recharged.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This one was the deal of the day two days ago.. just look on amazon. You'll probably find some really nice ones. Just make sure you get alot of storage on the battery since you'll never get a 1/1 ratio of charge, so this battery won't be able to charge my iphone 10 times despite the iphone having a 1800 mAH battery.
[Here is a really great deal on an Anker external battery!] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=greatdeal0fa-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00X5RV14Y&linkId=9eb84b1c7905e4d25cf3d8659c56296c)
Thanks Amazon Black Friday! This battery is a beast, 6.5 full charges for an iPhone 7, about 5 or 6 for a Samsung, and you can charge multiple devices at once.
I got One of These when they were on sale (and they have smaller ones that are less expensive now, too).
I have had it for over a year and I love it. I actually have two because my wife never used hers so I just rotate them.
I've been using Anker since I had an S3 and would definitely recommend them.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is the battery that comes with it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BPU0VCK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is the mounting hardware I bought. It's smaller then it looks like in the photo.
You might also want a better belt for the battery. Theirs is okay, but you can do better.

Anker
Really good, it lives in my backpack and charges my phone and surface daily.
I bought this one.
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y/
I have this one. Bigger / a little more expensive, but almost double the capacity for under double the cost.
Just pick up a battery bank from Amazon for like $45. The white one's like $50 and it more so matches the Go than the black one obviously. They have a smaller more compact battery as well as a larger battery too but it's substantially larger than this.
My anker power brick is charged with a micro USB port, so it doesn’t really matter which charger you use. The wall charger I have is this one.
Two ports are enough for me and I mostly travel in Europe. If needs be, I’ll just add an adapter to my pack.
Hey thanks for warning me.
But no, I'm not getting totally ripped off

Anker 20000mAh Portable Charger PowerCore 20100 - Ultra High Capacity Power Bank with 4.8A Output, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wT.XzbC70Q6QM
I ran my PI3b on one of these - the 2 USB output ports deliver 2.5amps each, which easily powered the PI
You don't even need the alternate battery, actually. A rechargeable fan or two and a power bank and a usb port in your car. This does require the vehicle to be running/driving to charge the powerbank, but if you're already driving everyday, shouldn't be a problem.
Someone on this sub recommended this, can't remember who.
Try to make a schedule but don't pack it too tight, prioritize what you want to do/see the most and make sure to get their early (lots of waiting in lines), don't be afraid to talk to strangers in line (I lost track of how many impromptu games started with random people in line!), if you're bringing your 3DS/Vita make sure you have a reliable battery pack (my Anker one served me well ), bring water/snacks with you and if you do go to a restaurant try to go at non meal times like 3pm, 9pm etc. I really liked the sushi place connected to my hotel (blue c sushi), if you're up for a little walk Kizuki has amazing ramen (320 E pine st)... go to some panels, or autograph signing if that interests you, if you're into pin trading that's a whole thing on its own, same goes for cosplaying. A lot of booths give away freebies so be on the lookout for that - same goes for contests and scavenger hunts. If you play one of the indie games the developers are usually close by and you can give them valuable input or just tell them what you thought of their game. There really is so much in such a short time window so if you get pooped out make sure to take a break and #1 most important rule, have fun!! :)
They're quite expensive
Another option is getting a regular phone charger, charging one of these phone battery packs and then plugging the Street Guardian there, since it is 5v.
With Quick Charge comes a price tag, but there are plenty of others that can deliver high amperage. Power conversion ratios are a real thing, and reputable power banks should get 75% or more in real-world usage. Shitty cells can lose half their capacity to conversion, which is how you get 3000mAh cells dying after charging an iPhone once.

Definitely Anker. I use their 20,100 mAh battery pack and love it! 2 USB ports so my wife and I can both charge at the same time and it's got enough juice to easily keep both of us going all day.

Unfortunately it doesn't charge the laptop. That's why I opted for the 99Wh battery 👍
It's just for other portable electronics.
But I carry these two

You said in a comment that you just want to keep a cell phone charged for a week, and instead ended up dreaming about what you could run off of a generator and got off track. If that's the case, for just a cell phone:
A big cell phone battery is ~3500 mAh.
This bad boy is about 20,000 mAh. That's about five and a half full charges. Buy two, total cost so far is $100 CAD. This gets you 11 full phone charges, which should be plenty for a full week of moderate use.
If you want more, keep one of those packs attached to this guy during any sunny time, and you should be able to keep both of them topped up indefinitely. (Or if your phone happens to need to charge while it's sunny, attach the phone to it directly and don't use power from a battery bank in the first place.) total cost is now $180 CAD for effectively infinite power at the cell-phone-charging scale. Heck with the solar panel you could most likely get away with just one of the above power banks.
The Wirecutter has reviews of battery packs and solar chargers. While Anker isn't always the top notch option, they're reliable and I've never had an issue with any of their products (to date, six battery banks, two plug-in chargers, and probably 20 USB cables).

If you want to scale up a little bit more, I have experience making really big USB chargers and also solar power packs and could elaborate on that if you'd like.
It'll be hard to run a fridge without house-scale solar or running a generator, but I could probably size a system for hanging solar panels out the window and keeping a couple of LED lights going and your phone charged. Biolite (that company known mostly for the weird-but-awesome USB charging wood burning stoves) has a solution for this as well. That's $150 US.
As of yet nothing, can a script monitor battery live or would I need a chip between the power source and pis or would I need to physically modify the chip?? I was powering the Pi Zero from this and 3 B+ from this
It seems like they are just using this Anker power bank
Both the wife and I have purchased Anker power banks (hers is 12kmah, mine is 20k. They're substantially heavier than the fuel rods or the other brands of chargers that are essentially enough to recharge your phone once or twice.
But they really pack a punch, and can definitely be worth bringing to the park - especially if you're playing pokemon go, or reading a kindle in lines, or looking to recharge camera batteries, etc.
It might be worth having one power bank that can get you and your family through a day at the park, especially if you plan on using it at other amusement parks, days at the mall, or for more versatile use outside of a Disney Resort.
this is the model I recently purchased...
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
If you just need to charge your phone, grab one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/
It'll charge your phone several times before needing to be recharged itself.
If you could manage to bring Power Bank (something like this) and appropriate charging USB cables and pull them out at the right moment, you will be loved till end of the world. Make sure to label them with your name though. :D
How about the Anker 20100, but the non USB-C version? What kind of performance would we see with USB-A to USB-C charging?
this one
edit: it outputs 2.4amp per port
edit2: you can get one for $35 shipped from Anker with a coupon by registering on their site.
Do you have the QC 3.0 version? Because they have a QC 3.0 version and a non QC 3.0 version.
E: The 20100 versions are not QC 3.0 battery banks.. The wireless adapter needs a powersource that delivers QC 3.0 standards of power.
this one charges my phone faster than when it’s plugged into the wall. At full charge it can recharge the phone 3-4 times
I am in the market for a portable charger for my devices. I want to get one that will safely charge my Switch. I've found a few so far through some research. Which should I get? Help is greatly appreciated!
!st power bank
2nd power bank
3rd power bank
4th power bank
What’s your budget? If you’re trying to spend minimal I’d get this https://www.amazon.com/Anker-SoundCore-Playtime-Bluetooth-Portable/dp/B016XTADG2
And this or something similar
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y
I am no electrician, but I don't think you can build one that works that way.
Something like this though....
Also get one of these. You can charge anywhere while traveling.
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y/
It'll charge a phone about 6 times.
So the device you linked vs harbor freight.. First off, harbor freight stuff is designed and manufactured with price in mind, not longevity. So, right off the bat, assume it has a shorter life, it might not, lots of people have been pleasantly surprised by harbor freight stuff, but I wouldn't assume quality from them. Second, I would always look at their claims with a skeptical eye, 17Ah, might really be 15Ah. Third, safety. Harbor freight might use less quality connectors, smaller gauge and lower quality wire etc, most stuff fails cold but this has a lot of energy stored in it and if it fails hot, well, you might burn your van down. Probably an edge case but IMHO, less likely with a device made from somebody like goal zero than something made by harbor freight. Last and least significant are some features, the nicer device you linked has an inverter built in, a nicer power meter and several ways to charge it. The harbor freight one probably only charges from a 120v - 12v transformer, so to recharge this device you'll have to run your inverter.
Will it work? Probably. You could probably save the money and be just fine for a long time to come in my opinion.
Are you just looking for rechargeable usb power? If so, I would suggest something like these, I have two in my van, they charge from the cigarette lighter or 12v from my solar and last a long time. I have one for a little security camera I have and it lasts 2.5 days!
Ok this has been discussed a few times already but it's reasonable.
I personally have this Anker Battery. It can charge a phone from dead to full about 6 times.
Since I share it with my girlfriend we usually go through it + have other people camped with us so we received an Anker Solar Charger for Christmas. It works slowly but gets the job done.
There are also locker rentals available inside the forest. In addition to a place to store things in the festival grounds (Things can be left overnight) They give you a little battery and a charger dongle. When it is dead you bring it back and they give you a new one all weekend. Locker rentals are $50.
The cheapest way however is to charge it in your car XD
google anker 20100 and you'll find it pretty quickly
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
I bought this Anker power block for Coachella last year and it lasted me all weekend! I believe it charges an iPhone 6 5-6 times, and it's portable enough to bring in your backpack: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
Also, someone in my camp brought a camping shower. Soooo much better than waiting in that female shower line...
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
There's a USB-C port on the bottom, you can charge it without the dock quite easily. This means that if you want to play the Switch while powering it with a cigarette lighter socket USB charger in the car, you can. And if you're on a plane with a regular power outlet or USB port, you can. And if you pick up a battery bank with USB charging (like this one) you can charge it with that on the go (which would give you about 4 to 5 charges with the Switch's ~4300mAh battery, giving you a minimum battery life while playing of about 10 hours, and a maximum of about 24).
I have a 20,000 mAh battery like this for traveling, and as a side benefit if you keep it charged you can still charge your phone if the power goes out. To give you an idea it can keep my phone going on a redeye to New York, and then still last me an additional day or so before I recharge it if I run it down to empty by solely charging off of it instead of digging out my wall charger.
Anker is a good place to start
That's the one I have, and while I haven't used it to charge my Switch yet, others here have.
As far as a USB-C cable... those are everywhere.

One of these would do good: https://smile.amazon.com/Anker-20100mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_4
I'm pretty sure that it's this one.
This seems really really overpriced for what it is... instead get Anker 20,000mAh power bank for a third of its price
This, I've been super impressed with Anker, not your usual shitty third party accessories company.
Anker is well-known for their power banks. If you're out a lot, you can get a 20,000 mAh one. It'll provide about 5 full charges (depending on your phone).
I don't know about the UK, but in the U.S. they have this one that's currently their deal of the day.
Anyone looking for a portable battery, Amazon has one on sale today for a good price

If the Quest does get too hot it won't charge as a security feature, but that's never happened to me
Great info so far. Start paring down stuff now so you're more mobile, I linked the power bank that worked best for me. A small rice cooker is a great way to cook (nearly every park has a plug). You can cook rice, noodles, eggs, etc. If you really embrace this it doesn't have to be horrible. I really loved spending my evenings hiking, reading, hanging with friends, attending free events at the library, etc. What kind of vehicle will you be in? Thanks for the link! That's kind of what I was imagining, but more along the lines of having a power bank kind of like this and connecting to terminals in something like this . My idea was to be able to put a rechargeable power bank inside the battery area to keep the portability.
I took this battery with me on vacation to France last month and it worked great.
my boyfriend (Galaxy S8+) and I (Google Pixel 2 XL) were taking tons of pictures all day every day, and the power bank was able to give us each an extra charge on our phones without running out of juice.
I keep a (hopefully fully charged) portable battery/powerbank so I can charge my phone wherever I am. First got one for a hiking trip, now I think it's the single best purchase I've ever made.
I have two iPhones (work and personal) and have Pokémon Go on both for more time (because I'm that cool lol). For my personal phone I have this for in my bag and want to charge it while I'm going. It's probably larger than what you need but Anker has many smaller ones as well and just make great products in general. For my work phone I have this battery case since I am on my phone quite often and sometimes not near a charger. They both work great so it depends on which format you would prefer.
this one was posted in this reddit earlier
I know what you mean. Got one of these on Amazon yesterday for like $27 https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y
As I am writing this, the Anker 20,000 mAH(Yes you read that number right) is an Amazon Prime Deal of the Day at $26.99, instead of $39.99. This lasts for another 11 hours as of 12:44 PM PST

Just picked up an Anker PowerCore 20100 from Amazon for $40 - that's 50% off the regular price, it will give a phone 4-7 full charges. Seems like a steal.
I may also look at a solar charger - I've heard they're junk, but for $20, it seems fairly low-risk.

Check these out and buy them depending on how much you'd like to charge your phone. 1st link is good for about ~10 charges. 2nd link is good for ~5. 3rd link is good for ~2 and a bit more. They come with free shipping (over $25). Personally, I'm going to soon buy the 1st link because that's enough to keep me catching Pokemon for the whole day.
As for your side note... Train your Pokemon to max CP before evolving. When you're lower level, focus on collecting Pokemon to stock up on stardust and candies. Don't train/evolve anything just yet, unless you've caught a Pokemon with high CP (e.g. Pidgey with 80 or so).
Any experienced Ingress player will tell you ..... games like this pretty much universally require an additional battery pack. Go get yourself an Anker and you'll be fine. This is the one I have,.. it kicks serious ass: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468353712&sr=8-1&keywords=anker
With regards to gameplay... .Yup.. it's a new game. Ingress had issues like this for years as it grew and expanded and the player-base constantly put strains on the system. I'm not sure Niantic could have predicted the massive interest this game would spawn.
Patience grasshopper.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467996338&sr=8-3&keywords=anker+charger
It'll last me 4+ charges of my phone, and realistically with my brightness high I can get 5-6 hrs of gaming on a battery. So I'd say at the minimum 20 hrs of screen time. I have the model before the one I linked and I would highly recommend this portable charger. They have an amazing warranty and make great products.
Anker brand power banks are very popular. I picked up a 20,000 mah one on Amazon for $26 on sale. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y
Get This
That's 6,600mAh for 70 bucks... This one is 20,000mAh for 40 and charges two devices at once at 2.4 amps a piece (iPad and bigger)

I have this one for heavy use when my gf and I grind out several heavy 6+ hr sessions that stays in the zip up pocket of my mochi bag.
26800mah RAVPower
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012NIQG5E/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_K03Jxb3BSNSAP
Though this is overkill and could last a week of heavy use. Maybe you want something a little smaller and lighter then I would recommend..
Anker 20000mAh Portable Charger PowerCore 20100
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_l43Jxb5Y6CK4J
And if you want something really light that isn't for heavy use I'd recommend..
Anker PowerCore 5000 Portable Charger, Ultra-Compact
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CU1EC6Y/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_P53Jxb6TFGJ6X
Beyond this the smaller options will only give you a charge or two max and for what you are doing I wouldn't recommend anything smaller.

Highly recommend getting it now. It’s still $39.99
I use a gamin etrex, not UI friendly but no battery issue (i can take additional AA battery), I also turn on recording mode so I can track my route once get home.
when you use iphone for navigation in a 8-day backpack, you took battery pack? do you think this is sufficent: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20100mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y
And can I also assume you turn off iphone when not actively use it (definitely at night, but I am talking about daytime while hike), and only turn it on when necessary?
thank you!
I'm not sure something like this exists. Generally dash cams focus on recording the events of driving accidents with parking modes being an extra perk. Without knowing your budget it is difficult to recommend any cams with good parking modes.
For the battery, dash cams usually have small batteries or capacitors because it is not a good idea to have large batteries from a reliability standpoint. When the camera is constantly running and sitting in extreme temperatures all day, then a large battery is not going to last very long and can potentially be a hazard.
There are a couple options for parked recording though, the most common being hard wiring. You can buy hard wiring kits like the Vicocation power plus and control the voltage cutoff of your battery to make sure you never fully drain it and leave it with enough power to start the engine.
Another option is using something like a cellink b which will charge as you drive the car. It takes ~1 hour 20 min to fully charge so if you do not drive the car often it is probably not the best option.
The last option I can think of is using power banks. Something like this will let you run the cameras for ~ 2 days. You will have to swap it out with another bank to recharge and it can be tedious, but it might be the best option if you are against hard wiring.
As for the wires/installation there are plenty of good videos that show how to run the wires and make them neat and invisible.
FYI amazon has a lightning deal on the Anker 20100mah battery (29.99)

Anker is a good inexpensive brand.

I've used a Shimano dynamo and a Goal Zero solar panel and neither of them worked very well. For my next tour (Thursday!) I'll be using a pair of Anker batteries like these: http://amzn.com/B00X5RV14Y
I've had this issue with a kmashi powerbank. Ordered a different one from Amazon and it works.

The "power iq" thing seems to work well. My old bank wouldn't charge certain items (Bluetooth headphones, I mean wtf?) But this new one does with ease.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how is this different than this unit?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title
Other than branding, they look to be about the same. Any risks using that pack with the switch?
i currently have a 2010 macbook pro with a 2tb external hard drive for movies photos and music. i'm in the process of purchasing this Kingston device so i can travel and transfer photos to my external hard drive without the need of my laptop. it also serves for other purposes too. i use this [Anker battery](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KU2E9IW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00) so i can charge my iphone and gopro while traveling or when the power goes out. a camera would also be awesome to bring.
Way late reply, but here's my adapter
and my battery.
I ended up going with this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But out of paranoia, I may end up buying another one too haha
Not sure how much it is or if it's available in Australia but Anker is a good brand.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1450092840&sr=8-1&pi=SL75_QL70&keywords=anker+charger
Ill second to say I have that same cable and the Anker 20000 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and it will charge the switch even while playing BOTW, as long as brightness is under 80%.
I wish I could find information on power draw of 1 or 2 phantom powered microphones on the GH5, and for the XLR1 adapter itself. No clue. 10 more days until my XLR1 adapter arrives, though I'm probably not going to fret testing this stuff as I think I'll be ok.
I went for the mentioned Rode NTG4+ shotgun mic with the built in USB chargeable battery (150 hours) that can also be switched to phantom power. This way I have some flexibility if I somehow deplete the microphone battery. It weighs a little more and is slightly longer than the NTG4 but I'd rather deal with those flaws than even be concerned with trying to find out the phantom power draw and having additional battery drain concerns.
Another thought, is I wonder how well attaching a power bank to the panasonic battery charger? I'm not sure if you can charge an active battery over USB-C, but I assume you can charge your offline battery which you can charge in a power bank inside your bags.
I don't have the battery grip but think that if I carry 2-3 charged batteries I should be reasonably covered for what I do. I can always get the grip if it turns into a problem. Sorry if its not terribly helpful that I have rationalized my way around the core questions you are seeking answers to. :)
And FYI, this is the Power Bank I picked up. Works great and charges fast...Anker
Interesting, I am glad to see that it is so "inexpensive".

Higher mah means a longer battery life
But the one you have is perfect
Hey guys, so it looks like I'm going to finally be getting a Switch. How important do current Switch owners find a portable battery pack. Do you prefer something separate that you can plug in and charge it, or a power pack that you can sort of "charge on the go." Is there one you particularly like?
edit: I currently have Anker PowerCore 20100 that the wife and I use for our phones. Would it be safe to charge a Switch on this?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I own this charger bank and was wondering if it would work fine with the switch?
Also I know pretty much nothing about USB C cables, so could you recommend me one to use with that bank and the switch? Thanks
I have these two:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y
Case - Oculus has their own and it looks solid (albeit mixed reviews so far)
Portable charger - Aukey/Anker make great products, need 2.1 output, depends on your budget
Lens cover - VRCover makes a generic lens/headset cover, have it for the vive, it's really nice
Headphones - do you like in-ears, over the ears - do you know the difference between open back or closed headphones? It's hard to recommend those without knowing how much you want to spend and what you like
Additional cables - probably want to grab some velcro straps to use to tidy up cables if you are playing with a battery pack and/or headphones
As far as my setup goes, I'll be using the following:

If you can use a tank bag on your bike, you could hide the battery in there to better protect it from the weather. Then run the charging cable to your GPS unit.
EDIT: I use this in my tank bag for phone charging, which I use for GPS:

I'm not really too knowledgeable when it comes to all of this stuff, but I picked up this powerbank right around when GO came out. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Will it have any problems connecting to the Switch? I understand it charges with micro usb but I've used my type-c for my Oneplus 3 and never had a problem getting a good charge from it.
I recommend one of these four panel chargers.
And one of these battery packs.
I recommend this one by anker
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1499339107&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=anker+powerbank
Buy a portable battery charger. You can carry that (and a usb cord) around with you and let your phone charge off of it. The largest phone battery I'm aware of it about 5000 mAh (though most are in the 3-4k range), so something like this is at least another 4x battery life: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B012YUJJM8/
www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/
I can recommend this solar panel and power bank. I have them and they work fairly well for a decent price. It should work fine to charge a kindle, or phone, or other USB powered electronics. The only real potential drawback is the amount of time it takes to charge the power bank from the sun, which means in some cases you have to leave it somewhere visible where it might get stolen.
I broke my kindle, and these days I mostly just use the Kindle app on my phone, but it's a pretty impressive device. You can easily fit hundreds of books into a large pocket and the battery lasts for days at a time.
I just took this to Iceland last month on my carry on with no problems at all.
This is the one I have (from my Amazon purchase history): https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
It is identical to the one that came with the tpcast (Infact, I don't even know which one came with the tpcast verse the one I bought.)
There are no settings that need to be changed; it should just work. If you have the same battery, and it's cutting out, I would contact the seller and request an RMA.
There also a reseller on Amazon selling an Anker 20000mah for $23 CDN
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_1_olp?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1473261863&sr=1-1&keywords=anker&condition=new
if you can pay for shipping and wait a few days, this is a much better deal
Anker battery with twice the charge power and power IQ which will match the optimum charging voltage for your phone. The Memex one will charge your phone but at a snail's pace. It probably won't keep up with PoGo's power drain.
Those stations will never have enough power with that many outlets and them going cheap on it.
What you need is something like this https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466821550&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=Power+bank&dpPl=1&dpID=31BIxT7weoL&ref=plSrch
Will charge yours and few friends devices all weekend.
Someone mentioned the anker brand in a thread yesterday, and they happened to be on an Amazon prime flash sale. It looks like they're a bit more now, but the last one I owned worked for over two years of every day use outdoors before the connections crapped out.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5RV14Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468119803&sr=1-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=anker&dpPl=1&dpID=31MWTHEkW0L&ref=plSrch
There was a sale for Amazon prime yesterday, $30 for a 20,000 mah battery pack (60% off). Picked one up myself, unsure if it's still going on. Will check when I get to my computer.
Edit: Here it is. Seems the sale price has gone up but it's still pretty reasonable (40% off).
I'd suggest an Anker, I got one a couple months back and it's saved me so many times from going low bat.
As a veteran Ingress player, I can say that multiple battery banks are the best way to keep your battery up if you're going to be playing seriously. They are so cheap. I would recommend something like this to carry in your pocket to keep your phone charged. It adds about 6.6 Galaxy s7 batteries worth of power or about 11.7 iPhone 6s batteries worth of power. You can play for a lot longer that way.
I would go for the first one for convenience purposes. The S7 only supports QC 2.0 anyways. Are they both about the same size & weight?
Edit: looks like the second one is lighter. Does weight matter to you?
There's also this one. From the description, it states it holds more than the 2nd one in your post. Also, it's the lightest and cheapest of the 3.
I didnt get anything! As the decently priced ones were all gone. I am going to pick up an anker amazon though, heard excellent reviews

Using this. No USB C. But works amazingly. Charges phone about 5-6 times. Was on sale last week for $27 so I jumped on it.

"This one" It can keep you charged for hours

it seems the same, try this one
I picked this up https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Anker 20000mAh one, last week it was on sale for 27 bucks.
I bought an Anker 20000mAh. It's kind of ridiculous. Was PoGo-ing for around 8 hours on Saturday and for 7 of those hours was plugged into the battery pack. Got home with 100% phone battery and 75% on the battery pack.
E: Oh, and I also bought some new compression shorts.
This one is pretty highly rated. It was on sale for 19.99 a week or two ago.
It's hard to gauge how many charges you'd get from any power bank because your phone draws power while it charges. It's easy to look up your phone model and see the battery's capacity in mAh. You can get an estimate by dividing the bank's capacity by your phone's capacity.
If price and size aren't too big a concern, Anker has another power bank with more than double that capacity for just double the money here. That's the one I have my eye on for my Droid Turbo.

Completely forgot about the sim, thanks so much. Looking into Express VPN, seems nice. Yeah good point about a nice outfit, studying at university and there is a graduation at some point I think. I think I'm going to order one of these. Whoops! Forgot the sunglasses. I'll throw some in. Thanks so much for the help! How long did you go for?
I use this one

Hi Streetwalker!

12W Apple charger would be okay, however I wouldn't recommend keeping the MYLE plugged in for longer than 40 minutes on that thing, as it's a constant power output.

The Battery pack I was referring to (Although this applies to all juice-packs) is this one.

As for the information regarding the battery and pod versions, The Juice Punk is the Canadian distributor for the MYLE, so this information is passed on to us through MYLE HQ. Hope that was helpful, and let me know if there's anything else I can help clarify for you. :)
Specifically look for ones that promise a certain current output.
I drove two separate strings of 144+16 RGB pixels from this bad boy for several hours.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
There is virtually no reason to run things at full current, they're blindingly bright in most cases. I wrote my code so it was easy to tune the final brightness from a potentiometer.
You really only need to worry about separate power tie-ins every couple meters of pixels. If you had one string going 4 meters long, then tie the +5VDC and GND in at the middle and both ends.
Can I go with this one? It's cheaper, same mAh. I need to buy several, so I don't need any bells or whistles, just need value. Thanks
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y?ref=emc_b_5_i
Potentially grab a battery pack if you have enough time (might need same day shipping to make it work).
Something like this can recharge your camera a bunch of times if you have USB charging.
You can get an Anker powercore 20100mAh for the same price $49.99

I've done this since day 1 with my Anker Portable Charger
Battery is a beast. Charges in 1 night and can charge my phone + more to full capacity a few times before needing another overnight charge.
HIGHLY Recommend to anyone looking for a GOOD backup battery!! I love it!
two five-inch dildos + some duct tape

I have this guy. Bigger than the Razers power bank https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502727303&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+powerbank
Anker 20000
Anker 21W solar panel
$95 for top products with insane specs.
It doesn't matter. If you assume the device has something like a 10k mAh battery (which would be very generous considering the size), this would triple the capacity (and battery life for whatever usage pattern):
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1482009283&sr=8-10&keywords=battery+pack
Anker makes some good ones. Here's one of the higher capacity ones:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20100mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y
Some of them support different types of quick charging so you'll have to look around
Yep, this is the battery pack I have. The battery is easy to hang if you are inside your tent. Especially if it's a smaller battery. Their straps are actually pretty nice. I also do have their 10ft white Luminoodle but it's not dimmable but works well for larger areas
edit: forgot to mention the bag it comes with. you can stick the battery in there and just hang it inside or hang it off a tree or whatever when not inside your tent
Anker is a great brand. I have this one and it works great. The USB-C port is nice to have because it charges it faster
Hey there! Personally, I use this Anker PowerCore 20100mAh power bank, and it definitely gets the job done. I personally use an S9+, and while I usually do IRL streams for 2-4 hours I don't run into power problems. The charge on the bank could easily charge my phone completely 3-4 times over. As for the mic, I can't help you there as I don't use one, but I'm very curious to see what kind of recommendations you get for that so I'll stay tuned. Good luck!
I have this one, same brand and capacity, but with 2 USB ports. It's a must for travel.
Going by the back side of the box it appears to be a Anker PowerCore 20100. You'll most likely be able to use alternatives that full fill those specs (esp. PowerIQ compatibility and output current).
Will this work with my switch?
Its a great power bank.
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
I bought an Anker power bank a year ago that can charge my laptop twice.
Anker Powercore 20100
Hey,
I have a question, cause I already own a Powerbank from Anker and I would like to ask you, if it also works: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
It is a USB-A Powerbank, and It has 5V=4.8A
Thanks for your help!
EDIT: It supports PowerIQ
Tenho um Anker, é excelente e não muito caro. Esse que tenho carrega um iPhone 7 vezes ou um iPad mini 4 vezes. Mas demora 24 horas pra carregar.
Will this charger do fine when charging the Switch?
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1492740325&sr=8-3&keywords=anker
I'm in Okinawa right now and I was able to rent a pocket wifi for ~$10 a day. Big bonus's for over using my phone was the pocket wifi has unlimited data so I can watch YouTube/Netflix etc with having to worry about blasting past my phone plans data caps. ( In about two weeks I've gone through almost 50gigs)
I also got a portable charger :
Anker PowerCore 20100 - Ultra High Capacity Power Bank with 4.8A Output, PowerIQ Technology for iPhone, iPad and Samsung Galaxy and More (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_y8gNBbQ3PEC3X
Mine has two USB ports so I can walk around with both the wifi and my phone plugged in. The battery pack has enough juice to last a few days.
Pretty happy with this set-up.
Assuming you're in the US, you paid a $20 markup. Generally, branded products like these are just the regular product but with the desired logos and such slapped onto it, though Anker does seem to have optimized this model in some way.
You should look up which of your devices supports USB-PD and plug those into the USB-C port if possible. For example, the iPhone 8 and later supports it over a USB-C to Lightning cable.
I don't have experience with that specific model, sorry.
Work gave me a RYU daily duffle as a gift and it's perfect. So many zipper compartments inside.
I would say the staples of my bag are:
So you're looking at about 4-5 hours of hiking a day depending on pace which means you'll have a lot of time in camp to charge your electronics via a solar panel. If you want the solar panel way I'd suggest the Goal Zero Nomad 7 combined with the Flip 20 or you can go the cheaper way and order a an Anker external battery such as this Anker PowerCore 20100 - Ultra High Capacity Power Bank with 4.8A Output, PowerIQ Technology for iPhone, iPad and Samsung Galaxy and More (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_iMtxzb0J9JSQM
Previous one was a Astro E3, nearly bulletproof. My current one (a 20Ah Powercore is a bit less comfortable in the pocket, but can easily charge my 12" tablet and have plenty left for my phone. I can see why they switched to cylinder cells, though I still think a broader, thinner pouch-cell-based product would be better at this capacity.
FWIW, these are best paired with a short charging-only cable like these, so you can get through the charge quickly and put the battery back in your pocket, and look a little less nerdy in the meantime.
Is anyone else intelligent enough to just use those portable anker battery packs like this? You set it on the couch or table next to you and you literally have endless amounts of power and you retain as much wireless as you need.
I found this Anker on Amazon.ca with 20100 mAh. Looks really good. It has two outputs, so one for the Pi, and I would like to power a monitor with the other one. Any idea how I might power a small monitor with something like this?
This is probably your best bet, but it'll only charge your phone 4~ times or so; you'll have to check the capacity of your phone battery to be sure as larger screens/more powerful phones will naturally get less full charges. I use a 20000 mAh external battery which gives me roughly 8 charges. You can find 20k batteries from Anker for $40.
They're the lightest, best quality external batteries you'll find imho.
Anker make really high quality portable battery products. Try this one :

here
according to the details it say 6.3 charges for a Iphone 6s
That's good to know, I bought an Anker battery with the same capacity a while back that doesn't get used much, It'll definitely start traveling with me when I show friends.

I have an anker powercore 20100mAh, so it doesn't have usb-c nor PD.
Is it safe to charge and watch? Will it charge so slowly that it makes no difference when watching and charging in terms of battery life of the capsule II?
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y
I have a magnetic USB-C connector here -> https://www.amazon.ca/NetDot-Generation-Magnetic-Smartphone-i-Product/dp/B078Y6F1RL/ref=sr_1_19?keywords=magnetic+usb+c&qid=1558796814&s=gateway&sr=8-19 that worked great with the GO in use, but it actually crashes my Quest if I disconnect abruptly when playing with it connected. This has happened 3 times already so I have stopped using it. This causes a hard lock, the screen turns green and I need to reset the Quest. I am using it with an Anker PowerCore here - https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00X5RV14Y?aaxitk=5ne0kMWfxl5mhFC-Yikfwg&pd_rd_i=B00X5RV14Y&pf_rd_p=4f1e30d1-11fb-48e5-801f-8e54a7b7f60a&hsa_cr_id=4764341150401&sb-ci-n=productDescription&sb-ci-v=Portable%20Charger%20Anker%20PowerCore%2020100mAh%20-%20Ultra%20High%20Capacity%20Power%20Bank%20with%204.8A%20Output%2C%20External%20Battery%20Pack%20for%20iPhone%2C%20iPad%20%26%20Samsung%20Galaxy%20%26%20More%20(Black)
Anyone else experience this with the Quest and magnetic connection with powercore?
Generally yeah, but I also have a pixel and an anker powercore so I have usbc to standard outlet too.. This thing is a godsend.
https://www.amazon.ca/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y
I found one one amazon. Is this the same one? If not, which is the better buy? amazon
This one is slightly longer than what you said but is double the power of the one you have now (20,000mAh):
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y
Or this one fits in the dimensions you said and is the same power capacity as the one you have now (10,000mAh)
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-High-Speed-Technology/dp/B0194WDVHI

But these are literally just two of them. There are ALOT of them. I would recommend Anker but just get on amazon and search for "Anker Portable Charger" and find one that has the power capacity you want, the physical size you want and in your price range. Any Anker will be fine just make sure to say above 10,000mAh or so as we talked about.

Edit: Also the 20,000mAh one I linked has two usb ports. That is a MUST for me to have 2-3 ports on it so I can power my Stratux and iPad. Just something to keep in mind to look out for when looking at them.
I just wanted to add that I got the Nintendo Joy-Con Charging Grip and that comes with a USB C to USB A cable that actually charges pretty rapidly - enough that I can play and still have the battery increase. I would say roughly 3 or 4 hours to full charge if asleep, but I have never actually timed it.
I also use this Anker power bank.
This past weekend I was in LA with my family and it fully charged our phones (all iPhone 8’s) 5 times and partially charged my sister’s switch before I took it to fully charge my own. After all of that the power bank is still at 50% power.
I fully recommend the official Nintendo USB C to USB A cord (although I am not sure if it is available to purchase independent of the Joy-Con Charging Grip) and the Anker Power Bank (I know they make larger ones with even more charge but the one I linked is honestly more than enough and is the perfect size).
Just my two cents since I was really surprised to read that the OP said it takes 1 hr to charge 10% with USB (and asleep at that) when my switch fully charged in the length of a football game.
Edit: I see now that graphic I was looking at was for in flight outlets, with my Anker I didn’t need those at all.
The items you linked are cheap, but won't really work for you, they could, but you will have to tinker and take a chance with those Items. The power bank you linked does not have enough amps output to run the Rasperry Pi correctly and the LCD might not work for the Retropie OS. I would go with something that can output enough amps for the Raspberry Pi to run without any issues, it needs 2.5Amps. If not, the Pi will be complaining about power or being throttled because it does not have enough power to run the Raspberry Pi without any issues, specially if you are running Retropie and doing emulation:
Anker PowerCore 20100 with has 20,000mah and outputs 2.4Amps per port
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4yDpzbGZ20DB6
Anker PowerCore II 20000 Portable Charger it has 20000mah and outputs 3Amps per port
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LQ7MQG6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_jrXiWbBU7nUPA
------------------------------------------
As for the screen, I would go with something more compatible. The screen you linked only works a a custom built Raspian OS. Not sure it would work on the Retropie OS/img. It does come with drivers which you might need to compile within your Retropie OS to get the screen to work. I would go with a screen that can run off of the display port or HDMI port of the Raspberry Pi natively. Check out the specs and the compatability of the screen to the OS you will be using it for. One good example of a really compatible A LCD is the official 7" LCD/touchscreen that plugs into the display port and works with most all OS' on the Pi. You only need to change one small setting in the boot/config file for it to boot with the LCD screen attached. I think there is an official 5" LCD available, but I could be wrong. Looks like you want to use a smaller screen, check the Retropie forums or check instructables.com to see what other people have used.
Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen Display https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0153R2A9I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DJDpzbEP8KVK4
This is the battery they send you, so you can easily get a replacement for under $45. I'm sure there are higher capacity versions that will be compatible as well.
So the next meetup I go to I would really like to show off my backlit keyboards. Is it safe to plug a keyboard into one of these powerbanks?
I don't want to fry them or anything... but there has to be a way to light them up without lugging my laptop to the meet and having it run for 3 hours.
Hi,
I purchased this portable charger:
Anker PowerCore 26800 Portable Charger
I also bought these cables that are Benson approved:
1ft USB C to A
6.6ft USB C to A
And this wall charger:
Anker 2-Port 24W USB Wall Charger
BTW, if that Powerbank capacity is too large for your needs, try the Anker 20100
It'll get you about 3 charges on your Switch.
I'm looking for a yes or no answer...am I safe charging the Switch with this combo?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A6F3WHG
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y
in addition to chargers:
power bar(s) -- basically, your hospital room will have plugs all over the place, and rather than charging all your devices all over the room, get a bar.
power bank -- not specifically this one, but something like it... if you're using anything electronic that can be charged via usb, it'll run low on power, and you can shove that in your pocket and not be tethered to an outlet
You are absolutely right, I left out a 0! 20K not 2K
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=pe_386430_126088100_TE_item
Amazon also has it for $39.99 (might be a different model but has the same 20100 #)
This was the travel pouch that came with Anker's 20k mAh battery pack (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499850016&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=anker&psc=1). There are probably other similar sized packs that come with things it will fit in.
You can use a battery pack and ethernet. With Cat6 cable you can do a 100 meter run. This battery should get you about 40 hours of run time. Still way more expensive than the pi itself, but should work.
(the battery estimate is for a zero without wifi, using a usb ethernet adapter, and pi camera)
Thanks! Is this one it?

Have had a great Anker, a great PowerGorilla, and I'm currently rocking a LifePower. Anker is a good choice for your requirements. This: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y?ref=emc_b_5_i is currently on sale if you're US based.

No it's a feature of iPhones. I mean someone else has to have an iPhone with the password but if they do it works every time.
>There are plenty of Android phones with easily replaceable batteries
Super fast charging and battery packs really killed this use case for me.
You can get a 20K mAh charging brick for $50. https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y
If you're already carrying a second battery it's not any less convenient. And that's the equivalent of like ~6 full phone charges.
From 0% you can get to 50% in 30 minutes.
I've never run into any situation where I had to drain my phone to 0%, but then instantly needed it back to 100% but I couldn't stand it plugged in for even a few minutes.
If I'm on the go and my phone gets low I just plug it into my brick in my backpack. And unlike your one replacement battery, I could charge a ton of things with my brick it's not just extra juice for one phone. My friends phones, a Bluetooth speaker, anything.
I kept my old Samsung forever because I liked swapping batteries too but bricks and fast charge mooted that use case for me.
Battery Pack:
The Anker 20100 takes the pressure of the headset off my cheeks by balancing out the weight. It has enough power to charge the Quest 5.5 times. I ordered a 90° up/down USB C cable which I'll shorten later -- I couldn't find anything the right size.

On-Ear Koss PortaPro Headphones:
I used the same drivers as the Rift CV1 which sound fantastic compared to the headstrap speakers. I tore up an old earbud cable and soldered the wires to replacement drivers. I discovered that headphone wires are coated in acrylic and wrapped around a nylon cord (for tensile strength, I'd assume). Cut the cord and soak the exposed wires in acetone to prep them for soldering.

> I doubt there would be enough usb ports and a sufficient power supply to maintain hours of use with a higher end keyboard and mouse
Why would a keyboard use up much power at all? It shouldn't, no matter how high end it is. Same with the mouse.
All the devices you mentioned should run easily half a day with heavy usage as a minimum by just using a small battery pack made with phones and tablets in mind. For example this Anker power back is enough to power a VR headset (Rift / Vive) with its dual OLED screens, the tracking tech (in case of Rift multiple independent IR LED) and a high quality sound output on top of two independent wireless transceiver (2.4/5ghz and 60ghz) in form of the TPcast wireless solution for around five hours:

Now look at the amount of space in that couch thingy is. You could easily put a few of those batteries in there.
Hey, I did a search but posts were all the way from 4 months to 2 years old, and I know how technology can grow quickly. I'm wondering if anyone has information on a good battery pack for the Nintendo Switch? One that I can plug in and play my switch while it's powered on and working (Sorry I don't really know how they work). Any suggestions?
What do you think of this one? https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Charger-Anker-PowerCore-20100mAh/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_19?keywords=26800+anker&qid=1564000627&s=gateway&sr=8-19
Thanks in advance.
At the moment, no, I suggest getting this, yes it's a battery pack, but it's small and holds a tone of charges
Instead of directly charging your phone, have you considered charging an external battery instead? I carry one of these everywhere. At full charge, it can fully recharge my phone several times.
This is one I plan on getting https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1468001386&sr=1-5&keywords=anker+powercore

If you have Amazon Prime, this is a really good deal today.

Anker's Powercore 20100 is pretty great. I use it all the time and always comes in handy.
Honestly, In my experience going for cheap power banks are not a good idea. If I where you I would invest into something like this it will only cost you 50$ and last you a life time, Alternitivly you get get something less exspenive however it won't be as good... if you choose that route I would suggest this anything less wouldn't really be investing into for long term use.
Amazon's got great prices. I personally went a little extra and paid $40 for an Anker 20,100mAh. Though, you can easily find a 10,000mAh one for $20.
edit: I was talking about USD though. Here's the Amazon Canada link for the one I got. https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469858276&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+20000mah

I keep one of these, an iPhone cable, and a micro-usb cable in my bag
...because everyone has needed their phone charged at some point, and most people don’t want to be with out it.
Edit: fixed link cause /u/YellowishWhite is boss
I have an Anker 20,000mAh and it was about $40.
I have successfully kept my S5 Active alive for a whole week with it on a cross country trip. The Anker was fully charged before I left and never recharged during the trip.
Anker has cheaper models with less capacity.
You could use a powerbank like I did with mine (http://imgur.com/a/wl7Rh). I used the Anker PowerCore 20100 (http://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462910998&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+powerbank) it can output up to 2.4A per port (2 ports) and has quite high capacity. It powers my RPi Laptop depending on what I'm doing for 8-12 hours. The only disadvantages are that the ouput can't be used while charging and it takes about 8 hours to fully charge it. I'm using an 10.1 inch display.

Also a USB-C one: https://www.amazon.com/USB-C-Input-Anker-PowerCore-13000/dp/B072155XVX/
Not bashing the Samsung one, just wanted to provide an alternative that had a higher capacity and similar price.
A portable battery pack will recharge your phone 3-4x times before it's exhausted.
Anker 20,000mAh is around ~$35 and only weighs 0.78lbs. Easily can be thrown into your backpack or bag and takes up little space. It's almost 2018, you need to step your tech game up.
>charges the iPhone 7 almost seven times, the Galaxy S6 five times or the iPad mini 4 twice.
I used this one last year :) it lasted the whole weekend! It's pretty big but it has so much power it was worth it! Just remember to charge the portable battery pack beforehand haha

It doesn’t have USB-c and things I’ve read said it shouldn’t raise the battery level will plugged in and playing Zelda. But, in my experience it does. It raises it by about 1% every 15-20 minutes while playing Zelda. Much faster with the console asleep. Glad I didn’t drop twice as much on the other one people recommended.
The larger second one is the one I’ve got and it’s faaaaaan fucking tastic
I had no idea they had specific switch branded models. It looks like I got randomly lucky. My mom got it me it for Christmas, haha. She’s normally bad with purchases like this.
Edit: fuck I’m a tiny bit jealous! The switch model charges over usb c. Mine uses a standard micro port.
It appears the trade off is that my device has two USB ports so it can power or charge two things at once.
The cheaper one can be found on amazon without their branding and without native usb support. I use use the cord that came with the pro controller for mine for the Switch. Mine comes with two regular USB ports and one micro. The fancy one has one USB port and one USB-C port. I imagine it charges itself slightly faster. It might even charge other appliances faster with the C to C port situation. I’m sure it does, really.
I still love mine though. It’s totally worth it if you don’t want to drop $150ish. Mines like $40 these days.

Anker is a really good brand and everyone I know has never had a problem with one of their products. They aren't one of those chinese companies that will just leave you fucked if it breaks. Dropped one of mine once and anker was great about helping me out

I have recently bought this power bank:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-20000mAh-Portable-Charger-PowerCore/dp/B00X5RV14Y
I really like it, it's always convenient to have around and it's not too bulky. It can charge my iPhone 6 around 7 times. I've had it for about a month and I recommend it to anyone looking to buy a power bank.
Thanks to having a removable battery, I have a great set up. I have a second battery, a battery cradle, and a power bank.
When my phone's battery runs out, I swap out for the second one, putting me back at 100%. Then, I put the empty battery in the cradle, connect the cradle to the power bank, and I have 100% on my phone while the empty battery is charging in my backpack.
I can continue this cycle and play Pokemon Go for well over a day straight.
I recommend the anker battery bank

https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-High-Capacity-External-VoltageBoost/dp/B014ZO46LK
Hmm, well a portable charger like this one (I just picked the first one I saw, though I've worked with Anker before for giveaways on my YouTube channel and they make good products) is a must have. If I find one of these companies that I can buy stock in I will cause the must be selling like crazy about now. As far as network and gps , I don't have much advice as it's device specific. I can say if you're in an area with wifi networks around that your phone will try to ping to, just turn wifi off cause that's a sure fire way to make the game lag/crash.

May or may not be useful to you, Harbor freight has these fold-able solar panels that charge via usb @ 5V. I have one of these and they work pretty well. I wouldn't use it to directly charge my phone though unless it was an emergency. Rather I use it to charge battery banks. Mostly due to paranoia and the desire to protect my phone from fluctuating voltage. I'd prefer to kill that cheap battery bank if there's an issue.
Something like this would keep your phone powered for a day or three:

Anker all day, every day. I love my 20K mAh beast.
I agree, get an external battery. Here's a tiny one that I like and works well. This one is even better. I really like the Anker brand.
I use this one it is a bit weighty, but can charge my phone from dead to full like 7 times.

This?
I don't think I need quite that much capacity, but I may go for it since it's only a few extra dollars.
Does it come with an adapter to charge the bank?
The Zenfone 3 Max would be worth considering as well - here is a comparison of the two. Smaller, lower-res screen should save some power, but it is LCD instead of AMOLED on the Blu, so it might be a wash. Smaller battery on the Zenfone too...
Would you consider buying an external battery pack for the phone? Then you can get whatever phone you want without the hard battery restriction, then add a 20,000mAh external battery for $40 or less.
power banks are nice and anker makes great ones. It depends on the size capcity you want. We don't know what sized battery is in the switch yet so tis hard to know how much tehse can charge.
However the power core 20100 is now smaller. It can charge an ipad air 2 1.5 times
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1484538598&sr=8-3&keywords=external+battery&refinements=p_89%3AAnker
They have them in all sizes and shapes . I wouldn't go to high in costs. $20-$40 is what I would spend. Also you may want to look into 2 smaller batteries instead of one larger one . The one I linked you too will take 10 hours to charge. So it may be a good idea to have 2 and alternate the stress on them and allow for slower charging. Heck you may want to get a 20,000 mah battery pack like I listed and something like a 10,000mah or 8,000 mah . They would be smaller and easier to carry. They wouldn't charge the switch as much but for shorter trips it could be better. Then on really long trips you can take both
Exactly. If you focus on running on time and efficient buses you won't need a USB port because you won't be on the bus long enough to use it.
Also by now I just assume we all have one of these.
Can they run off the power of a rechargeable battery like this?
Anker PowerCore 20100 - Ultra High Capacity Power Bank with 4.8A Output, PowerIQ Technology for iPhone, iPad and Samsung Galaxy and More (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_0rfIybAY3CNZK
Thanks, I'll check that out.
Question - Regarding the wattage. I believe I will need 36 Watts since each meter pulls 18. Would a power bank give me enough power?
I looked at this power bank as an example.
Each port supplies 2.4 amps, assuming I'm only using one, whit would only provide 12 Watts. I have to be missing something or not understanding. Can you help me out?
Will this one do well with switch?

Wrong, mine is not it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apis_1485057722964
Homework was done before purchase SEVERAL months ago... excellent bank! A bit on the heavier side but 9/10!
I bring both because I have different games on both and I may have an itch to play a particular game that may not be available on one or the other.
> Short Battery Life (somewhat irrelevant since I'll have a battery charger)
At worst it's about 1 hour shorter than the 3DS battery life, and that's if you're talking 3DS XL. It's about 1 hour longer than regular 3DS.
> Cons to taking both:
>
> Takes up a lot of space
>
> Potential to lose both if bag is stolen
Unfortunately only thing you can do to prevent the latter is to not take both (or any), but you can mitigate it by not advertising what you have. I use a messenger bag style case that's non-descript (no Nintendo or Switch logos on it, just gray/black with a zipper flap), and it's large enough to hold my Switch, 3DS XL, all my game carts for both, chargers for both, an Anker battery pack, the Switch's dock, and a Switch Pro controller. It's not a huge, bulky bag either, just carry it with the strap going across your chest instead of over the same shoulder you're carrying it under. If someone is really determined to steal it they can probably break the clips with enough force and struggle, but it's not going to be an easy snatch 'n grab. That's usually enough deterrent to prevent the attempt in the first place.
It's also small enough to fit into my 17" laptop backpack or my carry-on suitcase with plenty of room to spare for several changes of clothes (or a couple of changes of clothes if I'm also bringing along my DSLR). If I'm going somewhere for longer than a week, I'm planning on washing clothes while I'm gone, I never pack more than a week of clothes, less if I'm staying in one place the whole time. I can either carry it in the backpack/suitcase, or if I'm staying at a hotel and don't want to tote the backpack/suitcase around all the time while I'm out, I can just carry the messenger bag case. That mitigates the former issue.
Edit: Immadumb.
Yeah, the first batteries that come up on a Google search for "M18" are 1.5 and 3 AH. Pretty pathetic. For charging an arm you'd do better with something like this, which is 20 AH and cheaper than M18 batteries. Those M18s are designed for high current draw, which isn't needed in a recharging scenario.
I suspect the robotic arm is more of a nice-to-have for her than an absolute necessity. So in the event of a prolonged blackout, she's one-armed.
For your phone? Me and some others I know have this one. I bring it on 3-4 day camping trips.
Problem solved. Battery for days.
