The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. I don't have time to make sure it's comprehensive and everything but I can throw some stuff together real quick:
Knives
You really only need 2, a chef's knife and serrated knife. A pairing knife is occasionally useful but rarely necessary. If you really like sharp knives, buy a whetstone and learn to sharpen, cheap knives can get just as sharp as expensive ones.

Pots and Pans
You need four or five things here. I'd say your mainly looking for a large saute pan, a stock pot, and a sauce pan. If you cook eggs you can grab a non-stick saute pan too. Don't use non stick pans for things that don't stick to pans. They wear out fast and they're garbage when they lose their coating. Oh and a sheet pan.

Other Shit

This is just suggestions if you don't have the stuff already, I think the real bottom line is that the stuff you already have is likely fine, and being a good cook is about knowledge and technique and putting effort into tasty food for people you care about, not gear.
Please excuse the length, I love making lists.

That's pretty adorable and sweet. You know her tastes best, so tailor this to her specifically, but a good jumping-off point is:
It isn't childish or tacky to use something you're passionate about or interested in as decoration, but it's important that you do it well and don't overdo it. Don't tack them onto your wall, and don't clutter them all onto one wall. Generic "real" art won't look any better than the posters if you take the time to use them appropriately.
I've got quite a few prints hanging in my place from shows I've been to over the years, and people are always complimenting me on them. I got them all professionally custom framed (had a buddy who could do it for cost - why not!), so they look clean and uniform, despite being from different artists. That said, if your posters are a standard size, Amazon has a bunch of frames that are affordable and look quite nice. I like something like this, though they've got tons of other colors and designs. I actually acquired another print after getting my others framed, and was able to find one on Amazon that looks almost identical to the custom work (the glass isn't as thick and it is flimsier, but on my wall, nobody knows there's a difference but me).
As far as which to keep, the only one of your posters that I would definitely ditch is the Bravest Warrior one. It looks too much like an advertisement.
You're welcome! This is the one I have. It's probably the cheapest on Amazon, but it works great. Most days I wake up before the alarm starts going off thanks to the light.https://www.amazon.com/hOmeLabs-Sunrise-Alarm-Clock-Simulation/dp/B074NB5TNW
Also, you sound like a really sweet kid, and it's wonderful you care so much about your parents. I hope your sister grows out of this and appreciates having you around.
Recently ordered one of these AAC posters from /u/FirearmConcierge and finally got it framed and hanged. As an homage to him I've hung the picture next to my television where I can admire it while watching Sons of Guns on Netflix. I'm not sure which one he is, but I'm pretty sure he must be in that shot somewhere.
For those that mentioned that the $20 price tag from FirearmConcierge seemed like a bit much considering that AAC sells the posters for $10, that doesn't take into account that the $20 is the shipped price and when you add shipping from AAC the price is the same. I like to know that for my $20 that the poster had a longer journey and ultimately helped the little guy make a couple bucks rather than give all the money direct to the manufacturer.
So, the details:
Congratulations, how exciting to live on your own!
I would recommend black out curtains, unless you don't have a problem sleeping with light. I just bought some myself as they're multi-purpose.
I have a ton of other ideas as to things you should have, if you're interested!
Thanks for the contest!
you're a big girl now!
reddiquette I made one of these a while back, here's how I made it. Obviously feel free to the substitute the materials I listed for whatever you want. The final product (I'll post pics later) wasn't exactly beautiful, but it works!
Materials:
-Some type of container that will make up the structure of your infinity mirror. I used a paper mache box that is sturdy and able to easily open up
-A mirror. This should be a similar size to the container above.
-Adhesive film with a transparent side and a mirror side
-Plexiglass
-Something to cut the plexiglass with
-Some sweet lights
-Glue
Steps:
(for the purpose of keeping it simple I'm going to assume the materials are the same ones I used that are listed above).
I know that at first glance this might look pretty confusing. As soon as I get some time I'll post some pics of each stage to help with the explanations, as even reading back on them they do sound somewhat confusing!
I honestly just got plants at Home Depot (indoor plants) that wouldn't grow any larger. They usually keep them inside near the garden area. If you want really nice plants i recommend you check Josh's Frogs. Depending on your set up make sure to get the right size plants.
Plants: https://www.joshsfrogs.com/plants-for-pets.html

The water area is something I add for both humidity and for the skink to swim in. I got plexiglass from my local hardware store and got (silicone sealant waterproof clear) to seal the edges, this separates the water from the land. I should mention it is deep enough. I did add a mist maker fogger water fountain in the water, wire runs through the backside of the tank making its way to the top of the tank then out. The lighting comes from the mist maker.

This build is great I have the perfect size terrarium (small size in link) for this type of skink.
Terrarium: https://www.petsmart.com/featured-brands/national-geographic/national-geographicandtrade-reptile-desert-kit-27781.html?cgid=5000340
Make sure to get mesh, hydro balls, substrate and its your choice on real or fake plants.
Mesh: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00167VVO0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As far as advise on this setup... water plants everyday and keep humidity high with fahrenheit 70-78. Adding moss helps. Make sure to take your time on the setup make sure everything fits and nothing spill. As well as waiting a few days after setup is done to order red eye skink.
REMINDER: Skinks are very shy make sure to add lots of hide or plants so it won't starve itself.
Okay, so I am pretty sure you are just me writing from the past, because I have had the exact same problem... BUT luckily for you, I have determined a series of solutions!
1.) The Alarmy app
is one that requires you to get up and take a picture of something in your house/apartment in order to disable the alarm. It is super helpful to me but it does have the tendency to be a bit buggy sometimes (and not got off), so be forewarned...
2.) I have a Clocky alarm as well and it is also pretty effective. It is one of those alarms that rolls off your nightstand and hides. And it certainly does make the most God-awful, absolutely un-ignorable sound in the world, so there's no danger of sleeping through that.
So that's my collection of knowledge at the moment. Hopefully it helps!
you can definitely use your phone as a timer in most events, although there are other timers available if you want to clout chase (although, i hear that using phones instead of timers is the hot new thing in pf, so be wary). Because the classic 12 button timer that most camps/tournaments gave out has been discontinued, there is really only one option left for good, durable and effective timers:
https://www.amazon.com/CDN-TM30-2-Alarm-Timer-Alarm-Vibrates/dp/B004S0SO9M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1538057146&sr=8-3&keywords=debate+timer
as for stands, get one. once again, clout chasing, but also they are pretty useful. obviously an investment, but it was definitely worth it (i've had mine for just short of 5 years, still works)
https://www.amazon.com/Tabletote-Portable-Lightweight-Adjustable-Notebook/dp/B005IXSXPI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1538057268&sr=8-1&keywords=debate+stand
I think it's rather hard to find an ideal gift. I think the gift ideas divide into two groups: just something with math like
http://www.amazon.com/The-Unemployed-Philosophers-Guild-W64004M/dp/B001237296
or
http://www.amazon.com/DCI-Powder-Mathematics-Blackboard-Diameter/dp/B001FVRUFQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1454019324&sr=8-1&keywords=math+clock
the remainder of which would be related to his work. A prime example of this is a fountain pen like one has mentioned here. If you can't decide, a composite of the two groups would work as well. A personal favorite of mine:
http://www.zazzle.com/collatz_space_poster-228714821075702815
Hope this helps you index some of your ideas.
I have this model as well. They came out with a newer version though [here] (https://www.amazon.com/hOmeLabs-Sunrise-Alarm-Clock-Simulation/dp/B074NB5TNW/ref=pd_sim_201_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B074NB5TNW&pd_rd_r=W8WZ2R9CQS2CT3ZE7XW3&pd_rd_w=LYwMW&pd_rd_wg=AKEYB&psc=1&refRID=W8WZ2R9CQS2CT3ZE7XW3)
The newer one isn't too different, but the stand is better and I think the lighting is a little better. I ordered it for a friend.
There's a bunch of vendors on Amazon selling these things so I would just try to find the cheapest.
I'm a pretty sensitive sleeper so the amount of light that comes off of these clocks is plenty for me. So if you're a heavy sleeper this may or may not work for you.
You're welcome! Here's another one of my favorite gifts: a Rainbow Maker. These are delightful! They make a heart-shaped one, too, if that would be up their alley.
Also, I'm one of the those women who find pleasure in tupperware. So if you think they would enjoy nice tupperware, too, you might consider this large, colorful set. I have it and love it!
Or you can go with the more expensive, but very popular, Lock & Locks or Oxo Pop-Tops.
So we had the same issue of kiddo thinking it's time to get up. Someone here linked me to this and we've been using it since he was two and it's worked pretty well!! ESPECIALLY at first.
You set the time and when it hits whatever time you set, the red light turns green. And we harped on "red means stay in bed" and "green means it's time to get up!"
He was totally into it and he learned how to turn on the lights himself really fast. He's almost three now and he always gets super exited to show me "it turned green!!!!"
It's a bit pricey but I'd say it's well worth it. We hit a snag about six months on but we kept at it and it's totally awesome. They don't know time and this helps them a lot. Plus, they can't argue with the clock!!!
Sorry, should've posted this right away!
I just got the bottles from Amazon, here They're actually really small, only about half a standard shot each, but I figured its probably for the best if we don't get hammered during our session :P
Mana Potion:
Health Potion:
The health one's a little weird, but it ends up having an interesting licorice-y flavor. I'm definitely open to suggestions on it, though! And this only took me about a half hour total to make all these. It took a slightly steady hand, but I just filled them with my little measuring cup.
Edit: Formating
Omg I love those little cutie pies!
My parents got me an American Girl Doll when I was nine years old. I loved dressing it up in different outfits, but back then the price of a dress was more than a dress for me! I didn't want to ask my parents to spend money on that. One day my mother took me to the craft store, and I asked to buy fabric. We got home and she showed me how to sew. So since then, I love making things! Right now it's just pet beds, mainly because I don't dress up my doll anymore lol, but I plan to make clothes for my future little human(s).
Thanks for the contest!
That's what I meant, yes. The idea behind a commitment device is that you are actually two selves, the planner and the doer. The planner may have high hopes, but the doer's the one who has to execute the plan. The problem is that the planner has no good way to enforce the plans, s/he just hopes that the doer will execute because there is a plan. (Seinfeld actually had a great description of this!)
Enter the commitment device. It's the way that the planner ensures his plan is followed through on. The commitment device removes options from the doer so that the doer is much more likely to execute the plan. If you put the groceries budget on a prepaid card that can't be spent anywhere else, you ensure that it can't be flexed out. That is, the planner knows that the doer will be tempted to flex the grocery budget to use for lunches. So the planner sets up a situation where the doer can't flex it. One fun example is Clocky, the clock that runs away from you when it goes off. The planner sets the alarm, and when it goes off, the doer has 3 choices: let the alarm ring, get up, or hit the snooze button. Knowing that the doer will be tempted to hit the snooze button, the planner removes the snooze option by purchasing Clocky. Now the doer must choose between getting up or letting the alarm clock ring while driving around the bedroom. (In the past, I solved this a slightly different way. I had a thing of caffeinated water next to my bed, and I'd drink that, then hit the snooze button. I normally didn't get to hear the second alarm because either the caffeine woke me up or nature calling would.)
I bet you're getting yourself a beautiful rainbow maker! Total shot in the dark because I know it's on the pricey side, but who knows? Maybe that's what you got. =)
Happy shopping and thank you so much for hosting this contest! TREAT YO' SELF!
I swear to puppies I'm going to throw a psychotic fit.
It's amazing, what stress can do to a person. One minute you're at work, and everything is fine, the next, you're going crazy and hitting things with a big squeaky hammer. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to moderate the stress in you life so that you don't have to resort to the squeaky hammer? Well, now there is! What better than having a Zen Garden right in your office! You can rake the sand, organize the rocks, and relax in the beauty that is a Zen Garden. How perfect! No more squeaky hammer related tragedies in your office! It even has prime shipping - so you can get relaxed within 2 days!
So I have some thoughts on this.
1- Insulation - I am putting in 4 inches of spray foam insulation behind wood panels with reflextec against the wall. The areas of the part of the windows that open have flip down ports. I have also set a partial wall from one side to the middle to separate the sleeping area. The sleeping area also has velcro points that help me put up sleeping bags to section off the area. I also have heavy curtains covering the front. Also put a piece of Reflextec under the bed.
2- Wood stove - These are great, but the stove I have will warm 3 buses in 15 minutes on a single pinecone. These last for about 3 hours. - https://www.amazon.com/Guide-Gear-Outdoor-Wood-Stove/dp/B0155324VO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1539368535&sr=8-3&keywords=Wood+stove -
3- Blankets - There are two types - electric is a great way to warm bed up, and then wool blankets keep the heat in.
4- Little buddy heater - always have one and it works (keep a monoxide detector handy). I crack a window in the morning and use this to heat up the bus.

This is the best timer imo bc its really easy to use - https://www.amazon.com/CDN-TM30-2-Alarm-Timer-Alarm-Vibrates/dp/B004S0SO9M/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1467555687&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=Component+Design+Northwest+model+tm30
This is the table tote that i use, its pretty easy to setup and its lightweight - https://www.amazon.com/Tabletote-Portable-Lightweight-Adjustable-Notebook/dp/B0001EMA80/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1467555701&sr=8-2&keywords=table+tote
I used this guy which worked soooooo much better than using the "dip a string in lighter fluid" method.
I broke the project into 4 steps:
This was my end-result process. I tried a few different ways, but this was the most efficient. I started with about 50 bottles, and ended up with about 25, so I had about a 50% success rate, which I call a win! :D
Stoplight Sleep Enhancing Alarm Clock for Kids, Red and Blue Sports Car https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TKLN46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_2Ddryb0EBXF78
Check that alarm. I don't personally have that issue but the pediatrician I used to work with would recommend it.
With kids, everything works better if it gives them a sense of control of their actions and if it's almost like a game.
Just let him know that he can't get out of his bed until the light turns green unless he's having bad dreams or is afraid.
You don't actually have to buy the alarm but it's a great visual tool. You can come up with you own system that needs to be clear and simple.
Edit: multiple typos: apparently I can't make breakfast and type at the same time...
I use blackout curtains in addition to my wooden blinds. They block out more light and heat (when closed of course), help with energy bills, and still come in a variety of patterns/colors (depending on where you get them). They run more pricy than regular curtains but they're definitely worth it to me. They are a bit heavier, too, so make sure you use the rod recommended on the box. I've gotten them at Walmart, but here's an Amazon page to check them out. I have navy ones but I don't think colors matter as long as they have the special backing on them for the heat.
http://www.amazon.com/Best-Home-Fashion-Insulated-Blackout/dp/B001A662BE
There's propane and/or kerosene heaters. Just be sure to crack a nearby window just in case.
Warm clothes, blankets, and sleeping bags will do alright. It would have to be very cold for a long time before you were really in danger of freezing.
Lighting a few candles in a small bedroom will keep you warmer than you would think.
If you are asking then I'm assuming that you probably don't have one of these, but a wood stove is great. If all you have is a fireplace, it will heat the area directly in front of it but not much more. Just hang out in front of the fireplace for a few days.
No matter what you do, you want to cover up the doors and windows with a heavy blanket or curtain or something. In fact, in general it is good to have some thermal curtains like these (many different brands out there) on all your windows. We added some this year, and it has made a huge difference in our gas bill.
I bought these, then I mixed some water, food colouring gel, and citric acid and eye dropper-ed it in. Then I dipped the cork in super glue and let it dry. I did that so the liquid wouldn't soak through the cork and discolour it.
Theeen I melted some sealing wax, dipped the cork in that and put it in the bottle and dripped (kinda) some more wax around the cork!
Hope that helps. :]
If you have an Amazon account, this one is fairly inexpensive and works well. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001VZAKGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's not as large or perfectly balanced as the pancake flipper many people recommend, but it's also 1/6 the price. For $5, it's great. You do want to sand down the sharp corners so they're not digging valleys in your seasoning - takes less than 3 minutes with a grinder or rasp.
I know old thread but I found the jars on amazon haha. Might make awesome little stocking stuffers. Package of 24 Small Mini Glass Jars with Cork Stoppers - Size: 1-1/2" Tall X 3/4 Inches Diameter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004ZXW4MK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_FQChybVCA09TQ
This might work lol I dont think it will play nice with the electronics of my speaker, but for your print it would be dope haha
EDIT: oh nevermind its gotta be submerged in water haha
It's not as good as the original Radioshack timer (rip in peace) but it's pretty close: CDN TM30 Direct Entry 2-Alarm Timer-Alarm Sounds or Vibrates - 1 count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004S0SO9M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_71M3CbQNT03T5
I've used this for years and it's great. Has a silenced and non silenced timer, counts up and down, has a stand so you can set down the timer, and let's you put in the specific time you have remaining (useful for prep time).
i set 2 alarms. my phone goes off and i always hit snooze. like you i sometimes do it in my sleep. 9 minutes later it goes off again. if i hit snooze again, then a minute later, my alarm clock goes off. its really loud and i have to get up to turn it off. it really helps to have to get up to turn off the alarm because you definitely have to wake up. you could put the alarm clock all the way across the room and just crank up the volume.
you could even get something like this - an alarm clock on wheels. you'd have to chase it across the house. :) http://www.amazon.com/Clocky-Alarm-Clock-Wheels-Kitchen/dp/B000TAS9XQ
also, some people actually sleep in their workout clothes to help them get moving.
good luck, getting up so early is really hard.

Edit #1 - Replaced #1 #2, #9, #13, #15, edited some text, added bonuses
Okay, so a lot of my items are similar, or are kind of "flexing" the rules, but I will leave official rulings up to you. Here goes!
Strip of magnesium- This actually just got gifted to me. This coal trash can is silver, which is basically grey :D2)Something reminiscent of rain -
Zen Garden - Flexing the rules. It's only related because it's a garden. An umbrella!! I don't have one of these, and I have no idea why.6)Item less than a dollar - MP3
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO%C2%AE-Architecture-Brandenburg-Gate-21011/dp/B0050R0V3O/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=E9RD1GO4V1KF&coliid=I22USNN7FC4LVL)
It's actually the guitar, so I went with the 2nd most expensive which is a Logitech G19 keyboardNope. It's actually this amp.Not sure if a k-cup would count, but I threw it in there. If it doesn't count, I will find something elseIt doesn't. Here's some ship and anchor cufflinks I really want for my wedding :)Kind of cheating, but a different k-cup. Donut shop coffee is the BEST.Changed to a different beverage. I have a horrible addiction to this stuff, and it smells wonderful (to me)againbecause it's helpful to have something peaceful when going back to schoolBONUS #1 - I looked through your reddit history (not very hard, but I did look), and came up empty, so I'll just post something later that might fit.
BONUS #2 - These blankets are made in Oregon, and look SUPER cool. Not on my WL (I have more than enough blankets), but I really like them.
I may attempt the bonuses tomorrow, we will see. This is definitely a placeholder until rulings on some items are made.Fix'd :DOk, so being the father of two sets of twin boys in 11 months I felt compelled to chime in. This age was awful for bedtime. The kids are testing limits like crazy, so I turned this time into gametime.
My wife and I purchased this for both of our sets rooms: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TKLN46/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_iiwHub04WTZ8M. The idea is, when it's red - stay in bed. When it's green you can get up. Ours loved it. There was still issues after that occasionally, but we would just sit by the door and gently put them right back and remind them that when it's red...
Now they are ages 6 & 7 (had it since 2&3) and the clock still works. It's habit for them to see it and know visually when it's ok to get up / out of the bedroom. Totally worth the investment!
Hey to the person that asked about the Baphomet statue, here it is on Amazon. I'd highly recommend using Amazon Smile and set the donation to the Freedom From Religion Foundation (or TST or ACLU or wherever your black heart leads), that's how I ease my guilty conscience for using such a horrible company.
Since it's virtually impossible to keep the dog from them, go for the toys that are made of natural ingredients.
Toys like Da Fur Thing - which is made of a scrap of rabbit fur with feathers on the end. Felted wool balls, knitted wool mice.
Link for Da Fur Thing on Amazon
Then there are the battery operated toys that you have to turn on for your cat which will keep them occupied. Of course the dog might get fascinated with it as well.
Like Frolic Cat's toys and there's also a solar powered prism that you hang on your window and it casts rainbows on the floor for your cat to catch.
Link for the solar powered toy on Amazon
This one - 'homelabs' - is alright. You can set how long before the audio alarm that the light starts brightening. There's only one colour for the gradual brightening though (but it's quite alright). I have the sound on mine set to the FM radio, to RNZ Concert, which is great (RNZ Concert only has wacky stuff around midnight).
A nice candle with a candle warmer. Our school wouldnt let us light the candle, but they are these cool trays that warm them to release the good scent. Like this one
Hey! It's no lotion, but personally I am always cold. This was a great gift I got once, used it a lot! http://www.amazon.com/Intelex-Plush-Elephant-Microwaveable-Warmer/dp/B002WILK7A

The cot, you can find your local Army Recruiter and sign a 6 year contact, at least that’s how I got mine lol. Just kidding, honestly the standard issued military cot sucks, I personally have it for old memories. I recommend buying something far better and more comfortable. I only used it to sit on around the fire, otherwise on I was on the ground inside the tent for sleep.
I've destroyed (unintentionally) more than 10 alarm clocks throughout HS to college.
A coworker gave me a clock with wheels on it, it was a gag gift but it worked:
http://www.amazon.com/Clocky-Alarm-Clock-Wheels-Kitchen/dp/B000TAS9XQ
It does one thing well, it makes sure you stay awake!
I would personally recommend just going to bed early. Making a set bed time will help your body establish a sleep schedule.
I'm building one right now as a christmas gift for my fiance. I wanted to build a prototype first though before shelling out big bucks for the real double sided mirrors.
So I just went with a sheet of plexiglass and [Gila Reflective Film (I paid $30).] (https://www.amazon.ca/Gila-Window-Films-PRS361-Residential/dp/B000H5XTKG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1480890454&sr=8-3&keywords=window+film+gila) It actually looks surprisingly good. I think I'll just buy a glass ikea frame and try that out. Unless she wants to do makeup with it, that's probably good enough.
Thank you so much for the contest!!! I LOVE Halloween!
I've always wanted one of these
you could try to put one of these in the water bowl. They might even make one without led lights. I have one and it works great I think I'm going to put it in my BCI enclosure to get a little more humidity in there (mine sits around 50% but id like it to be 60%-70%). Also you could try cutting some acrylic to size like I did, or a larger water bowl on top of a heat mat.
I like the one on the Wittus page. It's similar to this one that I've come across since posting. I suppose an oven isn't crucial, I thought it might just be a pleasant bonus.
It is a surprisingly great print.
This is the frame I ordered:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002NLMQ6A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It looks a ton better in person.
Edit: CD for scale.
All of me, loves all of you

Item!
I got something a lot like this from Amazon. Sturdy, looks good and holds my headset and headphones :)
Edit: snapped a pic. Link
I have this statue as well... It's made out of a nice quality resin of some type.
The pictures do it no justice; it's absolutely lovely: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQJ3AI3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_P3wGDbE4ZF234

It took three tries! I mixed a small amount of Dawn into a little mini spray bottle from the dollar store to apply it. It comes with a little razor knife and squeegee too. If you can afford it I would recommend buying a nice piece of two way tinted glass. This way definitely works tho for cheap!

I bought this for mine; using Plexi instead of glass. The effect works fine but it's very easy to get bubbles if you're not careful, and with Plexi if you screw up you basically have to start over (with glass you could peel, use acetone to clean and try again).
I love this because it is red during sleep and green to wake.
Both my kids (3.5 & 2) follow it perfectly.
Stoplight Sleep Enhancing Alarm Clock for Kids, Red and Blue Sports Car https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TKLN46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_d8MmybNYC4H9S
This what I think someone else was referring to. It runs around. I always wanted one, but never have trouble walking up.
Here's a demo video of Clocky.
More over, I use a sleep tracker. It walked me up when I should naturally wake-up easier. Not sure which phone you use, but both Android and Apple have apps that work well. Related Lifehacker review of sleep trackers.
Winco 6"x3" hamburger turner: This thing is heavy and not flexible. Winco is generally great, they make no-frills heavy duty products and restaurants use them. They make different size versions of the same spatula. If you want to spend more, it looks like Amazon sells fancier brands with nicer wooden handles.
It's probably too thick for eggs, but then spatulas good for eggs are gonna be bendy and not the best for flipping meats. For that a fish turner like this woud be more appropriate.
These two both have wooden handles, meaning putting them in the washer is gonna weaken the products. If that's an issue, look for spatulas with plastic handles.

Woo free money!
Real talk, though, I bought this thing thinking it was one of those thin ones you use to flip eggs and shit, but it is REALLY thick:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001VZAKGM
And I was like "WTF does anyone need this for? Burgers?? I'll never use this shit".
But then I tried stirring things in my cast iron frying pan with it.
Spatulas bend and tend to slingshot food out of the pan, but this monster? Damn near as indestructible as the pan itself, AND it keeps the pan in good working order because cast iron needs to be scraped smooth regularly-- especially if you want to keep it seasoned instead of re-seasoning it after every use.
It is NOT a substitute for a real spatula, it cares not about egg yolks and lightly fried fish fillets, but damn if it wasn't one of my better $5 kitchen purchases.
Maybe this guy can help. Also make sure your diet is well and you're drinking enough water. Are you getting enough sleep? Too much sleep? You could also see a sleep specialist to check for things like apnea which will decrease the hours of sleep you get per night, making it difficult to wake up.
I bought this stuff from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CWGIHBE/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hopefully it is as good as the reviews. I may need to work on my technique though
It sure looks like one, they don't get hot enough to melt all the candle wax but will still make your home smell good.

You can get a an alarm that tells her when she can get out of bed.
Stoplight Sleep Enhancing Alarm Clock for Kids, Red and Blue Sports Car https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TKLN46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gEWxDb93HJN7K
I've read someone mention a ticket system where she gets one time to get out of bed.
There's weighted blankets for children that seem to help. I'm thinking of getting one for my 3 year old as he'll wake if he realizes I'm not cuddling with him.

They're a little pricey though.

Amazon has it for $26 as well, free shipping w/ Prime
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQJ3AI3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bDzbBbDPXK2R4
It's 10" tall though, so maybe too large for what op has in mind
Amazon. It's really nicely detailed, and it has a heavy base which lends it a good amount of weight.
Clocky is pretty popular, too.
The middle school math teacher in my building has a great clock with all different kinds of math problems to solve for each number on the clock. Like this one - http://www.amazon.com/DCI-Powder-Mathematics-Blackboard-Diameter/dp/B001FVRUFQ
You need an instant camera because who wouldn't love taking and printing spontaneous pictures!!
You really want Ugg slippers because warm and cozy!!
You really need a solar powered rainbow maker because it is winter and rainbows cheer everyone up!
Actually I built mine with
this
It turned out excellent!!
their are a few small imperfections but looks more or less just like a spec of dust on a mirror
So I actually went and bought myself a large shadow box from michaels, took out the glass put the tint on then mounted the tv.
the programming of the pie took longer then the build
OP, you should consider getting a sunlight alarm clock! I'm sure it'd help your body adjust to waking up, given that you have the blackout curtains, plus it'd make sure you don't have to worry about your phone running out of battery overnight. I have this one.
Great idea, but I would not recommend disabling that setting. I also bought a Styrofoam head as well, but have yet to use it for that reason. Thinking about it now, perhaps cutting away on the head to make an area that would not get close enough to the sensor? They make glass heads you can get from Amazon for about $35. I am not sure if just the material is enough to trigger the sensor or it is also a combination of light blockage. If so, maybe a transparent glass head could work? Will have to try putting up a glass cup to the headset to see what happens. https://www.amazon.com/MVAP-6832-Glass-Universal-Display/dp/B00XQH8Y9I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474999566&sr=8-1&keywords=glass+head
I've heard good things about this stoplight alarm clock. I'm sure the DIY timer setup is cheaper, though!
I came here to say this! You can also make one yourself, I've never tried it but people say that it's easy. Just make sure there's no metal in it...
We have two different kinds.
My son uses the Ok to Wake! clock. My daughter uses the Stoplight Sleep Enhancing Clock.
Really, they both work equally well. I slightly prefer the stoplight one because it can be plugged in - this keeps it in one spot and not roaming around the room. The Ok to Wake! clock gets dim when the batteries fade.
Why wait until one time of the year? I have one of these and I love it. Kikkerland Solar-Powered Rainbow Maker (Amazon.com)
Blackout Curtains for when you have to sleep during the day. Trust me they work amazingly! And in plenty of colors so you can pick what goes with your room...or doesn't!
you're a big girl now!
This stuff is great for this kind of situation. I have a similar issue with one of our bathrooms. It also keeps the room a lot cooler in summer.
Got ours on Amazon, I'm sure there are other brands and types out there that work just as well though.

I'm using this one, it's been great: HQ ISSUE Outdoor Wood Stove https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0155324VO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_k6haAbKXH5KBD
How often do you brake glass using a saw? Right now I use a kinkajou glass cutter and fracture the glass with hot water. I get ~95% success rate using this method.
I got this frame from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002NLMQ6A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it's for a canvas painting but it came with a cardboard backing so it works :P I'm definitely gonna find a fancier frame for him
this does the same thing and it's super easy to install. I have 16 freaking windows in my one bedroom apartment. Now at least the AC actually cools down the place
fyi you can omit the "ref" part of amazon urls like so:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003C4Z7W2/ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0155324VO/
Would something like this or this work? I do not need blackout curtains though because all of the houses around here have rolladens. So if there were something cheaper it would be fine.
I always thought getting something like this and turning them all into drinking glasses would be a cool idea. Havent done it yet though
I recommend an alarm clock like this one. It simulates the sunrise/sunset. Much nicer than a noisy beep first thing in the morning.
WSIWT: 16"+ of snow has me stuck inside wearing my LL Bean Slipper Mocs.
GD: Been cutting wine and liquor bottles with my Kinkajou Bottle Cutter and making home made candles all day. Very satisfying to get a clean score line and break!

Now I usually cut with electric tile cutter and sand on DIY flat lap, but for someone looking to only do straight cuts and not make the glasses for sale I'd say go with one of the jigs available and then just do the hot-cold water routine, a candle or a jet butane torch over the score line.
Alternatively, you can also make a jig yourself, it's not that hard and will probably save around $30.
It's actually a glass head for wigs! haha.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XQH8Y9I
People also use it to display headphones, so I figured why not a HMD?
As for the riser below it, it's a monitor riser. I don't remember where and when I got it.
Why not just get the candle warmer? You can get it for under $6 on Amazon.

Ahah... 36 inch by 15 feet... Make ALL the windows!

Thanks again for the tip
This solar-powered rainbow maker is pretty neat, but only works in windows with sun coming through them.
This device is just as effective for kids as soon as they know colors.
This alarm jumps off your table and rolls away, so the only way to turn it off is to chase it around and catch it. :)
LPT: Candle warmers provide flame-free scent and prevent singed kitty parts. Also useful for leg wax if you're so inclined.

You're welcome.
I have one of these! This one specifically, and man I wish I got it for that cheap....
We had this installed at work to deal with a south-facing bank of floor-to-ceiling windows and, combined with some blackout curtains, it helped a good deal: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000H5XTKG/
Eventually I’ll be getting this head I’ve seen photos of it supporting HMD’s for years now. Currently I have mine resting on my PS4 pointed away from windows due to my ceiling wire setup.
Where's the watch face that looks like this clock?
I like these! http://www.amazon.com/Intelex-Plush-Elephant-Microwaveable-Warmer/dp/B002WILK7A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1417138404&sr=8-2&keywords=animal+rice+bag
I got the idea trolling around /r/diy, it has a mirror on the bottom, LED's in the middle (hole going down at a 45 degree angle in the side for the wires), and a piece of glass with a privacy reflective film applied to it.
The light bounces back and forth creating the 'tunnel' effect, while some of it escapes so you can see it.
Link please?

Is this it?
It's not expensive but it's also not $10 but I got my mom this one year https://www.amazon.com/Kikkerland-1588-Solar-Powered-Rainbow-Maker/dp/B000068UG6/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1472933720&sr=8-13&keywords=light+catchers+for+windows they're really cool (well I think lol) but also I would recommend hanging it from something and not relying on the suction cup cause after a few years it stops sticking and will fall :/
Oh, yuck, my boyfriend and I got mono last winter; he contracted it first, then we had a date a week before he went to the doctor and got diagnosed, so I ended up with it. It's no fun at all, so Internet hugs to you both. :(
If you decide to send a care package to him, a heating pad or one of these helps a lot with the sore muscles. And if either of you are biology nerds, there's this.
I personally like this one: https://www.amazon.com/CDN-TM30-2-Alarm-Timer-Alarm-Vibrates/dp/B004S0SO9M/ref=sr_1_27?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1537932549&sr=1-27&keywords=timer
Probably homemade using something like this : https://www.amazon.com/AGPtek%C2%AE-Changing-Fountain-Atomizer-Humidifier/dp/B00GSKCW70
I use something like this for my Vive. The controllers I just hang from some command strips hangers.

Here is a video explaining how to do it with led and show a small model. The TLDW video is that you create a box, have a mirror in the back, whatever you want to show on the inside of the box with lights, and the view part has a material that is reflective on one side (Plexiglass + mirrored window film put as the cover you see through and the reflective is on the inside).
solution:
http://www.amazon.com/Clocky-Alarm-Clock-Wheels-Aqua/dp/B000TAS9XQ
I've also seen them referred to as "pond foggers"
Seems like it would do the trick.
Why Amazon my good bunnymonster!
I couldn't find frames that I wanted to get really anywhere else.
They're made from MDF, and you have to install the hanging wire yourself, but they're reasonably priced (compared to getting a custom frame made up that is) and look decent.
Just note that if you have the Daft Punk one, the size is actually slightly smaller than was noted on the website. Typo in the item description when it was put up.
I personally use this one because I can set it to alarm or vibrate:
https://www.amazon.com/CDN-TM30-2-Alarm-Timer-Alarm-Vibrates/dp/B004S0SO9M/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=cdn+timer&qid=1566922418&s=gateway&sr=8-5
Brand doesn't actually matter that much, but make sure to get one that has numbered buttons so that you dont have to press your three buttons a million times before each speech/cx.
Yeah, that's what I try every morning. I was thinking of buying this http://www.amazon.com/Clocky-Alarm-Clock-Wheels-Aqua/dp/B000TAS9XQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323252311&sr=8-1
I'm going to get this soon.. Maybe it will bring out the inner treasure hunter in you.
Yeah they are. It's this one
Buy a candle warmer
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003IT5K0U/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_1QGQub16C6WZD
Yeah I decided to go with this
yeah.
Buy an air purifier with a charcoal filter and blow the hit through a packed paper towel length sploof in there. Have scented oil in a [warmer] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003IT5K0U/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1417008600&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40) going or a candle and put a glade plug-in by the door. Remember to towel the door as usual.
My room smells like it belongs to a hot chick, but not trees at least.
Well, i have one of these which takes quite the pounding.
Here is a Link to Amazon, if you want to buy it.
$8.03 on Amazon!
Though I don't have any info on the warmers you already have, sorry.
Set your alarm/phone to full volume and set it all across your room on the other side (or at least a good distance away) so you can still hear it but you have to get up to turn it off.
If that doesn't work, you could go for one of these things: https://www.amazon.com/Clocky-Alarm-Clock-Wheels-Aqua/dp/B000TAS9XQ
Bought this (new) for 10 Bugs: http://www.amazon.com/MVAP-6832-Glass-Universal-Display/dp/B00XQH8Y9I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458474489&sr=8-1&keywords=glass+head
works fine

That is a single 20 oz bottle. Amazon has small jars for less money.
the Aperature science logo idea came from u/enzo69 post https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/c7gv1g/aperture_science_headset/

Glass head I got from amazon url: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XQH8Y9I
I got that on Amazon for $35ish https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MQJ3AI3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_8IrQDb7XF7ZA3
Regarding the head stand - as others have noted, it looks like a skull. But, if you wanted a head, here is what I could find:
https://www.amazon.com/MVAP-6832-Glass-Universal-Display/dp/B00XQH8Y9I/
(there are other colors of glass heads as well)
There's this odd thing:
https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Plastic-Mannequin-Scarf-Display/dp/B009W67966/
Another possibility would be to get a cheap foam or resin skull, or a cheap foam wig stand head, and do the "tape ghost" treatment to it (start with step 6):
http://www.monstertutorials.com/2015/03/27/ghost-1-how-to-make-a-packing-tape-and-trash-bag-ghost-tutorial/
Or, for something a bit more substantial, do the same as step 6 and 7, but try to find and use heat shrink plastic, or brush on acrylic resin in layers...
We got a stoplight one with a car on it. Red light / green light worked at that age for our guy. Didn't have to cut down the nap (but we have a standard 2.5 hour nap) or go to bed later. We went from 4:30 am wake ups to 6:45 over the course of a week. It was a total life saver.

I bought this film off Amazon - Installed it on a west facing window. It helped reduce the heat in that bedroom a few degrees.
It went up "pretty" well - I screwed up trimming it, so there are a couple sections that aren't flush with the edge.
I think it looks fine from the outside as well.. It is a mirror finish, but it's smoky.

oooo, I have to pick this rainbow maker!
TIL one way mirrors are actually coated with something!
You can get Reflective Privacy Film on amazon (or at a hardware store probably) that should do the same thing!
https://www.amazon.com/Clocky-Alarm-Clock-Wheels-Aqua/dp/B000TAS9XQ
or WakeUpinator 2.0
Clocky: http://www.amazon.com/Clocky-Alarm-Clock-Wheels-Kitchen/dp/B000TAS9XQ

Yeah... You're not getting around that.
You need a Clocky!

Clocky.
This is precisely why I got a [ clocky ] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000TAS9XQ/) for Christmas from a coworker.

Here is another version made by DCI.
This is the one I have in my classroom.
Also, when I start my radicals unit, I put post-its with all radicals equal to the hour over the numbers on my "regular" clock in the room.
I don't know the dimensions on that turner, but these look similar.
https://www.amazon.com/Winco-TN165-Spatula-5-5-Inch-2-5-Inch/dp/B001VZ8R12
https://www.amazon.com/Winco-TN719-Hamburger-Turner-6-Inch/dp/B001VZAKGM
This is the one we bought.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TKLN46/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_TgbLBb3P1PT8Z
For a fraction of that price you can go with this.
I use that for steeping. Just place a coffee mug with hot water on it, place in your bottles (I've used both plastic and glass w/o any problems), then go to sleep and wake up with steeped juice.
edit: typo.
I have used a candle warmer to do something similar to this in the past.
This is by far the most common timer on the national college circuit for parli. https://www.amazon.com/CDN-TM30-2-Alarm-Timer-Alarm-Vibrates/dp/B004S0SO9M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526317216&sr=8-1&keywords=cdn+direct+entry+2-alarm+timer

Cork Vials.
Most of these projects use regular acrylic or glass with mirror film applied to them.
Does anyone know if the one way window film (For example) on some plexiglass will work for this?
Try this
Going the glass route will always be expensive. They sell high quality films that do the same thing. When I build mine, I plan to go that route.
2 way mirror film
Make a frame with a bit of thickness. Put a regular mirror on one side. Mount an LED strip along the inside edges of the frame. Get a piece of plexiglass and some one-way mirror film to cover one side of it. Place the plexiglass, mirror-side, towards the real mirror.

I think it's essentially this inside the cauldron.
Get it from Amazon for $49.99 + $7.62 for shipping.
How's glass?
I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/MVAP-6832-Glass-Universal-Display/dp/B00XQH8Y9I
I'm all set...apart from this! Surely, surely a must for us all.

I got mine on Amazon
Here's the one I have.
I got one of these for free. Bastard rolled under my bed once.
It's completely dumb that your condo board won't let you put up a window treatment. Is it possible to get window film like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Window-Daytime-Privacy-Mirror-Silver/dp/B00CWGIHBE that maybe they won't complain about so much, and then do whatever you want on the inside?
This bottle is close, but it doesn't have a cork top.
These 2 are basically the exact bottles from the games, but they're incredibly tiny.
A metal spatula costs less than ten bucks. Screw "the principle" of the thing, I'd just buy one and tell everyone "we're using this now."
